So, something that I find both odd and really really shitty is this. Ever since the remakes of Resident Evil 2 & 3 released, it seems like the original versions of both games just longer exist and that really isn't right if you ask me. I've read threads on reddit from people saying how hard it is to find the original versions of both games and how a lot of them have had to resort to pirating the games because Capcom makes it so hard to let people buy the games legally. But, the reason I find this odd is because...
Tumblr media
Ever since the remake of Resident Evil 4 has released, you can still buy the original version of the game! You tell me how that makes any sense at all! Even RE1 is still available for purchase on Steam as an HD remaster, why couldn't they have done this for the original versions of RE2 & RE3? It's not really right that I can legally buy and play the original version of RE4 but I'd have to either pirate or emulate the original versions of RE2 & RE3 and that I think is something that Capcom really needs to fix. It's not just a PC thing either. The NIntendo Switch has one RE collection that has the Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 1 HD remasters and another collection that has RE4, RE5 & RE6 but notice how there isn't a collection that includes RE2 & RE3. I for one would love to play the originals just to see the differences but Capcom apparently doesn't want people to do that.

Note
you are so valid. i can only play horror games because watching horror movies and horror shows and walkthroughs of horror games Scares Me Badly. like "i once got sick whilst watching zombieland" badly. thankfully playing horror games doesn't have the same effect
i have played throught resident evil 0 (the hd remaster), resident evil 2 (the remake), resident evil 3 (also the remake), resident evil 7, and resident evil 8. somehow i completed resident evil 3 my first time playing through, with everything (both text and sound) in spanish (a language i am definitely not fluent in)
i was gonna say "we're allergic to horror in general" but on reflection that isn't entirely true bc we have a lot of fun with exploring horror ideas, especially existential stuff or implications of things being more fucked up than it seems on the surface? i guess it's more like we're wary of most horror games/shows/books but every now and then we'll hit something we Really Enjoy
that's super cool though!! i... did not realize there were so many resident evils. goddamn

One-To-None Re-makes/masters
It's no secret that Remakes never live up to their original counterparts, and while they offer a similar experience in the end the original offered more in terms of content or even detail. Remasters while being a Modern Port still finds a way to strip something from the game, allow me to explain.
REMASTERS
Remasters again while provide players with a Modern Port of their favorite game and usually in a collection (Devil may cry, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Dragon Ball Z, etc.) and marked with a lower than norm price. However if we take Metal Gear Solid 3 HD you'll see that while it Mimics the Euro/Subsistance release, you'll see that the entire 2nd disc is missing aside from the Duel Mode which IIRC was on disc 1 as a completion reward. then lets take a look at The Last of Us Part I the "Remake" of the first game but we all know that its a glorified Remaster of the Remaster for PS4 and what happened to it? The entire MP aspect was cut in favor to have people buy Part II in order to play against people when the Remaster offered it. But not all Remasters have the MP portion in them. Other titles that have had a remaster with their Multiplayer modes cut are followed but not limited to;
Uncharted 4 (PC release)
Mass Effect 3
Crysis Remastered Trilogy (co-op and MP)
REMAKES
Remakes are a whole different bag as they try to incapsulate the nostalgic feeling while implementing new or improved features to make it feel Modern. Resident Evil 2 is one of those games that look amazing in terms of graphical quality, however the lack of the zapping system featured in the original 1998 release back on the PS1 that allowed any actions taken by Leon or Claire and having that decision effect the other in their B game (If Claire A uses a shutter to block zombies then in Leon B those same shutters will open after short circuiting bringing those zombies into the RPD). This is instead replaced with an altered path of the same exact set of events only having the starting point, puzzle solutions, Item Locations, and final boss being changed, other than that 1st Run and 2nd Run are the same between the two characters and yet the game unlocks the other characters 2nd run when completing the 1st run of the other character.
Now with Remakes I get that at times they're more reimagining's than anything but another offender In the case of piss poor remakes is Resident Evil 3. What makes this Soulless to the original 1999 release is a lot when compared to RE2, RE3 in this regard drops the Live Selection system (timed choices), altering paths depending on where you go like going to the Restaurant to meet Carlos and finding one of the gems in the press office where if met in the press office then the gem would be in the basement of the restaurant, an actual randomly encountered nemesis, and the lack of a subtle lab. The Lab was merely located under the hospital as oppose to it being hidden within a factory.
Another remake that seek to improve everything visually and implement features from later games would be the Yakuza Kiwami remakes, while not bad like other remakes there's mainly some level of detail that was better represented in the PS2 release. The scene that comes to mind is in Kiwami 2 when fighting the Go-Ryu Clan at the Tojo HQ with cars blocking the entrance rather than what they did in Kiwami 2 and just have the AR restricted area field pop up. That said the Kiwami games are still good for those looking to get into the series although if you plan to play them i strongly recommend you play through 0 first as both Kiwami games do have call backs to that game. I wont dwell anymore on this game series as Cvit covered this in more detail addressing a plethora of issues the remakes have when compared to the PS2 releases.

Hltb resident evil 3 remake

Hltb resident evil 3 remake Pc#
Hltb resident evil 3 remake series#
Though not as sublime as its predecessors (or RE4), RE0 is better than the latest Resident Evil games, and represents a time when Capcom and other developers could take risks and release games with various gameplay systems and bold level design. OK, But You Like This Game Right? Definitely. As prequels go, Resident Evil 0 is better than most, but like most prequels its plot is ultimately pointless. The shoehorned connections to Resident Evil 2 are another misfire. Billy and Rebecca barely interact or comment on what's going on around them, which is weird since they're together the entire time. The villain, a Final Fantasy reject who controls leeches, is laughable. There's nothing going on in Resident Evil 0, not even with a misjudged convict as one of the main characters. If you try, you can find a decent amount of drama and meaning from Resident Evil 2 or CODE: Veronica.
Hltb resident evil 3 remake series#
The story and characters are also thin and silly, even for a series known for thin and silly storytelling. Besides zombies, RE0's bosses and common enemies are just boring lab animals run amok -though there are beasts that resemble Shakma, so that's a plus. There's very little in the way of eldritch abominations nothing on par with the Giger-by-way-of-Cronenberg G-Virus creature from Resident Evil 2, or the Terminator-like Nemesis from Resident Evil 3.
Hltb resident evil 3 remake skin#
In RE0, the monsters are just animals with patches of hair and skin missing. Simply, it's inferior to other entries in the franchise. Worse, it takes up two slots in your inventory, which is a big deal in a game where space and resources are limited. It's incredibly annoying to travel deep into late-game areas to find you need the Hookshot, only to realize you left it far behind, which means you need to backtrack to retrieve it. There's little indication you need this item until you stumble upon an area where it's necessary. One item in particular, the Hookshot, remains essential to advancing in the game, even long into the adventure. The game pinpoints all your sporadic tools on the in-game map, and RE0 gives you a good deal of freedom in that regard (like turning one area into your base of operations), but keeping track of all your stuff throughout the world can be a slog. On the other hand, you need to keep better track of all your items.
Hltb resident evil 3 remake full#
Now you can leave your Magnum Pistol or First Aid Spray on the floor (and return to them) in case your inventory's full when you need to pick up that Mansion Key. Those are gone in RE0 in favor of exchanging items between Becca and Billy or dropping items wherever you want. In previous Resident Evil games, you had the luxury of an item box where you could store ammo, herbs, and keys. Mixed Herbs, Mixed Bag The dual-character "partner zapping" system extends to item management. It's an interesting, if occasionally frustrating, idea, especially when it comes to some of the late-game puzzles. You can swap between them instantly to access their differing skills, or simultaneously control them using dual analog sticks. Whereas previous games in the series featured selectable characters that go on their own adventures (Chris or Jill, Leon or Claire), Resident Evil 0 keeps Becky and Billy together the entire time. Perhaps Capcom will return to this style with its purported Resident Evil 2 remake. I'm happy to once again see this retired form of game design. That's where a lot of the game's excitement and tension originates. RE0 exchanges the control and security of a third-person, player-controlled camera for a more directorial eye the best possible anxiety-inducing angles are chosen for you. Nostalgia Train Like Resident Evil HD Remaster, Resident Evil 0 uses static camera angles and pre-rendered backgrounds for atmosphere and level design, respectively. However, the game itself is still a mixed bag.
Hltb resident evil 3 remake Pc#
And it didn't give way to modern AAA gaming like Resident Evil 4. It was also stuck on the Nintendo GameCube, a platform few gamers at the time owned. Today, that last part's no longer a worry. The new Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster, available for PC (reviewed), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, adds a much-needed analog control scheme and gorgeous widescreen visuals. It didn't redefine a dusty old PlayStation game like the Resident Evil remake. It was released between two landmark titles at a time when people grew tired of survival horror's frustrating puzzles, static camera angles, and tank-like controls.
Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security Softwareīack in 2002, Resident Evil 0 fell through the cracks.

Resident Evil Zero (2002)
Resident Evil Zero is a survival horror video game developed and published by Capcom and originally released for the GameCube in 2002. It is a prequel to Resident Evil and its remake, covering the ordeals experienced in the Arklay Mountains by special police force unit, the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team. Reports have been mounting about unusual murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The city’s Special Forces division, S.T.A.R.S., sends their Bravo Team - including rookie cop member Rebecca Chambers - to investigate. On route, the team’s helicopter suffers engine trouble and is forced to make a crash landing, where they find an overturned prisoner transport vehicle. Splitting up to search the area, Rebecca discovers the Ecliptic Express, a train stopped dead on the tracks. Inside, she meets death row convict and ex-Navy lieutenant Billy Coen.

Three Resident Evil Titles Headed to Nintendo Switch
An official tweet from the Resident Evil Twitter account earlier today teased a Nintendo Switch release for three of the series’ titles. Indeed Resident Evil 0, 1, and 4 will be making their way to the Nintendo Switch eShop on May 21, 2019.
