i have feelings about it mostly due to its parallels to the situation at hand. this is realistically quite the obvious take but it’s something i wanted to talk about and it’s my tumblr so

i feel the parallel of the mural to jean and harry’s relationship is insanely well done. jean and harry are, in jean’s words, two depressed old men and i feel like the repression of themselves is a big thing here. the point here is exemplified by jean leaving the mural up, citing conservation as his reason

this also clearly represents a very obvious nod to kim and harry. they are the new people. this is the next world. love is possible here, but not for jean. jean is left in the old world. harry has forgotten him entirely. it is too late for him

Staring even more intensely at the papers before him when Ashur comes to stand wordlessly next to him, Tarquin rereads the same sentence over and over again to distract himself. They’re so close their shoulders almost brush, but he has no idea what Ashur is even doing. And he’s not about to look over at him to find out. Mostly because if he does, he’s scared he’ll do something stupid like smile at Ashur.
