• She loves it when people call her Jane. It makes her feel like a real person.

• She likes to roller skate but she can't skateboard. Poor girl, she keeps trying to do a kick flip. Max doesn't even know how to do a kick flip.

• She eventually got burnt out on Eggos, but never the syrup.

• She doesn't have great social skills and she talks a bit like Starfire so she doesn't talk much to people she doesn't care alot about. But when Max is over, Hopper and Joyce have to wear ear plugs.

• Total giggle box. Can't stop, won't stop.

Max:

• Kinda like Billy she has a spunkiness that can sometimes come off as mean, sometimes she'll take a playful insult too far and have to apologize. Which she will do.

• She doesn't like her orange hair. She prefers Els dark curls.

• Max sees Steve as her dad. She asks him for advice on the reg which nobody really seems to know. It's not like she's hiding it, she just doesn't go shouting it from rooftops. "He yourself kid, but sometimes dial "yourself" back a little." He once said to her.

• She smokes. She's not a big drinker but I imagine she's picking up cigarettes people left on the sidewalk for later and lightning them up for herself.

As a couple:

• They love to sing and dance together, any song really but mainly Madonna and Kate Bush.

• El doesn't like to drive. She doesn't like cars much either. So she keeps insisting Max and her get a tandem bike. Which Max refuses. (It's in the garage as a Christmas gift.)

so ive now been living away from home for like 2 weeks (woo!) but im visiting home this weekend to pick up a few more bits and pieces (and tbh to visit my cats ♡)

my sister messaged when she found out (i assume our parents mentioned it? i never told her) to warn me that since i left, our mother had had another chemo appointment and has now lost most of her hair, so that i wasnt caught off guard when i got home and saw her, and also that shes v tired all the time and doesnt eat much anymore

first of all - this was a big surprise to me that she'd tell me this because shes really not a sympathetic/gentle person?? but when i spoke to my father he never said anything about it so im v grateful she told me beforehand

secondly - since moving out, ive sort of let myself forget about the cancer? if that makes sense? its been kind of 'out of sight out of mind' yknow? and im so afraid to suddenly be faced with very obvious signs of her illness because im honestly very comfortable living in denial until i cant anymore

so now im listening to 'soon youll get better' by taylor swift on repeat and trying not to cry over it because as much as i dont have a good relationship with my mother, i dont want her to be sick, and even though i know it will happen i don't want her to die. i think it wouldve almost been easier if i had stayed home this whole time, because then her decline would sort of be slow enough where i wouldnt notice so much? whereas now in my head shes going from still being quite healthy to being really sick and i dont want to see that

i feel like that makes me sound like a bad person too. like im almost considering just not visiting between this upcoming weekend and christmas just so that i dont have to watch her get worse, and that makes me feel like shit both ways

also so much for not having a breakdown bc i had to stop twice while writing this to have a little cry 🫠

I'm so sorry that things with your mum aren't going well. I want to remind you though that however you're feeling about this is okay and valid. People handle illness in so many different ways and no way is the right way.

I do want to give you a very gentle and loving reminder, though. You mentioned maybe not visiting until Christmas. I understand the desire to not visit and it's extremely valid. But if you do decide not to visit, I just have to ask..is Christmas guaranteed? I don't want to pry or bring up possibilities that could be impossible, but with cancer, time can be a huge factor. Not visiting is still your choice to make, and I support you if you make it, but make sure you make an informed choice, you know?

I'm so sorry and I can't even imagine how horrible this is to go through. I'm sending you so much love and I'm so proud of you for talking about your feelings <3

can someone please write a marauders the holiday AU i was thinking so hard about who was gonna be who in that scenario BUT i think i figured it out:

- regulus and sirius are on good terms, both escaped their parents and reconnected but now they live in different countries

- because of [insert reasons] they decide to swap houses (doesnt even have to be over christmas tbh) and so regulus ends up living in sirius‘ flat in surrey and sirius moves into reggie‘s paris (i feel like none of them would be in LA) home for a couple of weeks

- while sirius is in paris he meets regulus‘ friend/coworker/house mate remus

- and on the first night regulus is in surrey and contemplating going back to his flat and blow the whole thing of suddenly a tipsy james potter knocks on his door and is immediately completely in love with reg

- and then we all know how the story goes

can someone write this please or if you have a smarter idea for who‘s swatching houses with who i will take anything this was just what made most sense to me

Uncle Regulus Headcannons

Okay first of all when he first meets Sirius's offspring its picture for picture of that one scene in maleficent where she first meets Aurora

Regulus looks into this crib to see the kid that looks exactly like Sirius, and he wants to hate it, wants to scare it away from the black family. Thinks to himself it would be protecting her in some way.

But then she smiles at him, and he just melts.

Suddenly you cant see Regulus black without the little girl on his hip

Any comment on it will get a quick hex sent your way, but its obvious to every one how much he adores his niece

He calls her his Little Star

He gets one letter from his brother that's vaguely threatening but also asking for him to watch and take care of his daughter

Regulus didnt even need the letter he'd be damned if anything happens to the only good thing that came outta the war

He makes in effort to make the house more kid friendly, less house elf heads, more child proof cupboards

Kretcher begrudgingly also falls in love with her

When she gets older you can often see the house elf as a pirate, or a guest at tea party, whatever her young mind conjures at the time

The tapestry is filled with grim old faces but at the bottom theres his niece filled with hope and a butterfly sticker on her cheek

VISITS FROM REMUS

Of course remus would visit, he might think his best friend betrayed and killed James, but he knows about Regulus's past and he'll be damned if Sirius's kid turns into a death eater

But when he finds this little girl, who is just light and good, and everything he fought to protect in war, have The Regulus Black wrapped around her finger he's lost

Hes never seen Sirius's younger brother so soft

"I like your scars." "Thank you." "Uncle Reg has a scar." "Is that so?" "Yeah! It's got an ugly snake on it, but yours are pretty."

Oh god he couldnt protect Harry, so he has to protect this girl

Calls him Uncle Remus

And suddenly you can see Regulus Black, a former death eater, and remus lupin, a war hero, trailing behind this little girl as she picks flowers for kretcher

Reg isnt too pleased when Remus starts hanging around, but then he sees her put a bow in his hair and pour him imaginary tea, and god he can't ruin that for her

Oh god when she first shows signs of magic it's an Absolute mess

It probably happened during lunch, Remus had come over for the day, and they all sat at the table like a mismatched family

She had insited on pouring the drinks, her chubby little hands parley rapping around the pitcher, and she slips. They all wait for the crash but when they look the pitcher is floating.

Only for a secound before it completely crashes to the ground and shatters.

Regulus spends the next twenty minutes consoling the crying girl as she apologizes profusely

But hes too stunned to even think about the broken glass, (so is remus, so kretcher is quick to clean it up)

His niece just performed magic for the first time!

Remus and Reg dont even think before they cheering and parading the girl around the house

"My niece performed magic!" "She'll be top of her class at hogwarts!" They go on for hours about how excited they are.

Christmas is weird. At first it's sad, both remus and Reg seem to be lost in the past, but then they hear the excited pad of feet across the floor and they remember what they fought for.

This little girl is spoiled beyond belief, between both her uncles.

Remus gets her loads of sweets, mostly chocolate, and a muggle doll he thought she might like

Reg doesnt spare any expense, all the latest wizard toys are horribly rapped in cheesy wrapping paper. (He insited on wrapping them himself)

And she has gifts for them too

A homemade paper ornament for Remus, and a drawing of all of them for Reg

I had to cut this in half, partly because it was too long, but also because if I don't stop now I never will.

Better Than Any Movie Could Ever Be - Reader x Reggie Mantle 

Day two of my week till Christmas uploads! If anyone has any specific Christmas-y requests feel free to send them, I still have a few days where I don’t have a specific story line decided. 

Summary: You and Reggie take a break from your Christmas movie marathon to enjoy the first snowfall of the winter, during which some of the Christmas movie magic spills over into reality. 

Warnings: none

Word count: 1,179

You fight against the heaviness of your eyelids. You were a sucker for Hallmark Christmas movies, and you had even managed to convince Reggie to partake in a Hallmark movie marathon with you. Unfortunately by the fourth movie no matter how much romantic Christmas magic they managed to pack in you were really fighting to stay awake for it.

Your head was resting on Reggie’s shoulder, his arm wrapped securely over your body and your legs curled up underneath you. The two of you had been in some variety of this position all afternoon, in between moving around for snack, drink, and bathroom breaks. Suddenly Reggie jostles you around and just a moment before you start to complain about it he pulls a blanket around you and you realize he had only been reaching for the blanket tossed over the back of the couch.

“No,” you groan playfully, tilting your head to look at him, “now I’m definitely going to fall asleep”

Reggie chuckles and leans down, kissing your forehead gently. “Then sleep if you’re tired,” he whispers.

“And leave you to watch this cinematic masterpiece alone?” you ask playfully, gesturing at the TV as the ever-familiar twinkling sound effects play in the background of a dramatic speech about being a princess plays on the television.

Reggie chuckles and holds you a little tighter, shrugging at the suggestion.

“Oh my god, is tough, manly, football captain Reggie Mantle actually enjoying this movie?” you question teasingly, adjusting your position so you can look at him.

“No,” Reggie says quickly, hesitating a moment before continuing, “maybe a bit, it’s kind of cute.”

You smile and lean up, kissing him gently, “four,” you whisper and he looks at you quizzically.

“Four what?” he asks, eyebrows furrowed.

“It took four movies to get you to admit you like them,” you tell him with a giggle, resting your head against his shoulder.

“The first three were bad,” he tells you, defending the dislike he was pretending to have for all the romantic movies you were always trying to get him to watch.

“Yeah, yeah,” you mutter, rolling your eyes, your fingers fiddling with the string of his hoodie.

You turn your attention back to the movie, watching a scene with an old man trying to set a younger man up on a date. You had seen enough of these movies that you had already figured out the plot of the rest of the movie within the first fifteen minutes. But that didn’t mean you wouldn’t spend the rest of your holiday season watching at least one of these movies a night.

“Y/N,” Reggie says suddenly and you sit up a little, looking down at him with concern at his sudden exclamation of your name.

“What?” you ask, expecting something terrible to come from his mouth.

“Look out the window,” he instructs and you turn your head to the large window, eyes narrowed in confusion until they focus through the glass into the night sky. Under the yellow glow of the street light you can see the falling of snow. The first snowfall of the year.

“It’s snowing,” you whisper, pushing the blanket off your body and crawling out of Reggie’s lap, walking slowly to the window. You press your fingers against the cold glass, eyes focused on the delicate falling of snow, it had already started sticking to the ground. “It’s beautiful,” you add. Reggie’s reflection appears in the glass, standing behind you, arms sliding around your waist, resting his chin on the top of your head.

“It is,” he agrees, “just like you,” Reggie adds.

A smile spreads on your face but you roll your eyes at the cheesiness of it. “That’s very cheesy, Reg.”

“Maybe,” he comments, “but it’s true.”

A couple minutes go by in silence and you soak in the comfort of the moment, Reggie’s warm body wrapped around yours.

“Want to go outside?” you ask.

“Sure,” Reggie chuckles and pulls away from you so the two of you can head for the front door. You didn’t care that it was almost midnight. You both put on your shoes and jackets before heading into the cold night. The air was bitter against your exposed skin, but that doesn’t stop you from skipping out onto the front lawn, throwing your head back and your arms spread wide, spinning around in circles.

You hear Reggie chuckle and you stop, looking over at him. He stays a few feet away from you, out of the way of your whirling arms, his hands jammed into his pocket, shoulders tensed up in cold.

“Reggie,” you whine, stepping over and grabbing his arms, pulling him closer to you, “loosen up, enjoy the first snowfall of the year,” you giggle.

“It’s cold,” he jokingly groans, smiling down at you.

“It wouldn’t be snowing if it wasn’t,” you retort with a playful smirk, stepping closer to him and leaning up on your tip-toes to kiss him. Reggie kisses you back eagerly, taking his hands out of his pockets and sliding them under your jacket, resting on your waist. You pull away from Reggie a couple minutes later, looking into his eyes.

“Y/N,” Reggie says seriously and you swallow heavily. Reggie wasn’t usually a very serious guy, when the two of you had serious conversations it was almost always you who initiated those conversations.

“Yes?” you whisper, your hands resting on his jacket covered arms, his hands still on your waist.

“I love you,” Reggie tells you. The two of you hadn’t said that yet. Love. It was such a small word, truly inconsequential. Yet you two had been together for almost a year and neither of you had gotten the courage to say it, to be the first one. Maybe it was the fear that it wouldn’t be reciprocated. Maybe it was the fear that it would change things. Maybe it was a vulnerability thing, that once you said it out loud, once you admitted it was genuine love then it would hurt more if you had your heart broken.

But none of that mattered, because you were in love with Reggie Mantle. You had been in love with Reggie for a considerable amount of time. Now you were ready to say it out loud.

“I love you too, Reggie,” you say quietly, looking into his eyes, neither of you breaking away from the gaze.

Reggie suddenly lifts you up off the ground, spinning in a circle with you held flush against his body. “That’s the spirit,” you giggle in reference to him needing to have loosened up to enjoy the snowfall.

“I’m sorry if this didn’t live up to all the movies you love so much,” Reggie chuckles, setting you down gently. The snow was beginning to build up and your feet were already feeling like blocks of ice on the snow-covered ground.

“Are you kidding, Reggie?” you ask in disbelief, laughing softly, “confessing our love for each other under the first snowfall of the winter, it’s perfect, it’s better than any movie could ever be.”

End of the year tag

What is the single best thing that happened in the past year?

In August there is an event every year where hundreds of people come to the UK to play super smash brothers melee. Its a tournament but also kinda a festival and it feels like being surrounded by 700 close friends. Its really kinda indescribable.

What is the most challenging thing that happened to you in 2018?

I just like had no idea what I wanted to do with my life or how I would be okay with getting up every day. I’m still not sure I have a long term plan for my life. But at the moment I’m working as a temp at a job that pays very well and has good hours. There is like 0 opportunity for advancement but I’m okay with that. My supervisor wants to make me permanent but is waiting for the bosses to agree. But if it doesnt work out I’ll still have a bunch of cash and I’m quite open to trying new things! woops that was a long rant.

What date from 2018 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

17th - 19th of August for the event previously mentioned!

What thing did you learn the most from this year?

That I need to make some decisions about my life but I’m not necessarily equipped to do that.

What is the kindest thing you did this year?

I dont remember doing many kind things but I hope that I did some!

Did you lose any close family members this year?

My great uncle named Reg which I assume is short for Reginald died recently. I didnt know him well but when I was young I delivered newspapers near his house and he would give me sweets!

Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope

What did you do in 2018 that you never did before?

I went to Austria and Germany! I lost my passport too! 

Did you keep last year’s resolutions? What were they?

I dont think I made any??

Did you travel to any interesting places in 2018?

Well as I said before I went to Austria and Germany, specifically Vienna and Munich. I also visited a lot of manor houses and gardens because there are a bunch within easy driving distance of my house! My favourite was the Hawk and Owl centre on Exmoor.

Do you believe that 2018 had an occurring theme for you? If so, which theme and why?

Uh I kinda always feel like my life is made of circles. The same kinda stuff happens at the same time every year.

Do you feel like 2018 went by too fast?

Yes and no

Did you fall in love with any new artists during the year 2018? List them.

I started listening to music in German and Italian and also a bit of Latvian because I am learning them. Not all at once though!

My favourite Italian singer is Annalisa, My favourite German one is Christina Stürmer and I dont really have one in Latvian because I havent been spending as much time on that.

Uh my photos of the lake at Stourhead got like 5000 notes. And I have a job now that pays money. Oh and I am much better at understanding German and Italian even though I’m still a bit bad at saying things.

What is the best book you read this past year?

Wyrd Systers by Terry Pratchet. I never liked his books when I was young but now I think they are great and I want to read them all!

What was your favorite movie you watched this year?

Ralph breaks the internet! Partly because I dont remember many of the movies I watched this year.

What was your favourite TV series you watched this year?

Frontier because both Jason Momoa and Katie Mcgrath were in it!

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2018?

Shirts I like plus jeans that will fit.

What political issue stirred you the most?

Fucking Brexit! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! If someone doesnt turn this shit around I’m going to go absolutely spare! I have had enough! Its still going on! And its just clearly not a good idea! My money is already worth considerably less and apparently thats not enough of a sign that its fucking stupid! Noone is prepared for it and its just a fucking mess! I really cant stand the politicians in this country.

What was your biggest regret of 2018?

I regret spending so long feeling hopeless. I dont even know how it stopped. It sometimes feels like I could be going back to it.

What was the biggest adventure of last year?

Going to Vienna on my own. I had stayed in a really cool flat and I could do whatever I wanted!

What do you wish you’d done more of?

Reading, studying, seeing friends and enjoying my life.

What do you wish you’d done less of?

Nothing. As in like, I wasted so much time. I just want more of my time to be useful and/or enjoyable.

If you could go anywhere in the world in 2019, where would you go?

I want to go to Italy because I’m learning Italian but I dont know where I would go specifically.

My family will be at my house most of whom I dont like especially my sister who I cannot stand.

A plan and dedication and someone who will hug me!

They now show on our credit report. my 2009 vauxhall insignia was hit from behind sitting at a car park space in a supermarket,there is substantial amount of damage to the right hand arch right above the back wheel,the back bumper is also broken,it was hit that hard it was pushed onto the car park space in front of it,i believe what saved it from any further damage was the driver of the other car hit the wheel of my car which i guess cushioned the blow.i have went today and got estimates for the repair which is in the region of 2500 pounds though could be more as they have to put it on some sort of machine to see if the wheel alignment is of,the repair shops say what they will do is cut the arch out and put a new arch in and spray it but no matter what its never going to be the same.the reason they do it like this is because the whole back of my car runs to the front without any splits. UGH! I'm a teenager, who drives a 2001 Honda Accord, right? I've been driving for almost two years (this November) and I had my insurance set up that I pay it every 6 months and it would accumulate to $720.90. Question on best company for classic/historic car insurance?

Our family has had State Farm for 70 years now, several generations, and in the last 10 years or so we have been progressively more & more disappointed in their caring and customer service. Maybe its just the 'assistants' that my local SF agent (who never talks to his clients any more) use, they both seem to have just horrible attitutudes, sarcastic, and act like you are a complete PITA every time you call. I even have an email from his main assistant that I asked her to forward to the actual agent because I was told he was the only one that could answer my question, and just today I was SHOCKED when I re-read the email, and saw in the forward of my email when his assistant sent it on to the actual SF agent, She said This guy will just not give up, he keeps haunting me about this issue! I couldn't freaking believe it. I was going to forward the email to SF headquarters in Bloomington IL, but then as I read more & more about state farm I saw they are completely independent agents in each office, and have literally NO ONE who is their boss or who can reprimand or correct them. This is unbelievable. If I treated my customers at my work place & gave them the rotten attitude treatment we get from our SF office here, I guarantee you I would lose my job. No one is in charge at state farm obviously. Back to my question - I recently bought a classic car I have been looking for a long time - getting it next week - it is 25 yrs old, all original & in perfect shape. My state (Maryland) lets me register the car as Historic if it is 20 yrs old or more. I plan to do this. I contacted my wonderful state farm office today, to get a quote on a new policy/binder for this collectors car. They apparently don't like insuring a vehicle as Historic, maybe the policy is too cheap & they do not make any money off it. The 'assistant' said the best they can do, even if I REGISTER this vehicle in Maryland as Historic & get an Historic tag, which I will do, she said the best she can do is insure it as part time, occasional pleasure use, under 7500 miles a year . Which of course is NOT an historic policy. You can get that on ANY extra car you have in your household even if it is a 2011 model !! She did say (and I understand this being required) that in order to have is classified as Antique/Classic/Historic, you have to have an appraisal done on the vehicle as if it just came off the show room floor -then the premiums would be much lower if you had full coverage on it, as historic/classic . So here we stand. Can someone out there please help me understand - am I being taken for a ride by my State Farm office? Should I shop around for insurance companies that just specialize in Classic/Historic auto insurance? If so can anyone recommend the best companies that specialize in reasonable insurance for classic/historic vehicles? Thanks for your help. .""

Say someone is coming to US from India and wants to rent a vehicle for first two weeks. Obviously he doesn't have any auto insurance ( he doesn't have an auto at all). If he wants to decline the costly insurance coverage provided by the rental companies, what are the other options for him to get liability and collision coverage for the rental vehicle for first two weeks ? If he would have already had an auto and auto insurance it would have covered his rental car too with the same coverage for around 2 dollar a day.
