This is my first post.

Anywayss i was thinking of of writimg my first ff on ao3!!

It would contain ships like starchaser, wolfstar, dorlene, maylilx and some more background ships as well as brother bonding.

The fic would be around 1983 and it would start of by reggie dear defeating voldy andd then.. well i guess you will have to see that part by yourself.

Also yes, harry does exist in this fic.

Au where Reg is a spy for dumbledore and has to pretend to be dead for the good of his own life and the war as a whole so he was completely alienated from society until they manage to defeat voldy and win the war- nobody could know he was alive

Then, after the war is over, he is told that he has to stay in hiding for a few more years so his life isn't at risk if the word gets out to any remaining death eaters that he is alive and the reason voldy is dead

He moves country and settles down, knowing that is would be better than staying in England in a shitty safe house, knowing the people he loved were just a floo trip away

Three years pass and he is safe to go back home but he doesn't

Almost 5 years after the end of the war he gets a gets a knock at the door and opens it to find his brother standing outside

He starts to panic and rant about going into hiding and having no choice and being too scared to come back out yet and Sirius doesn't listen, he just marches up to him and hugs him as tightly as he can

They hadn't hugged since they were 5 so Reg is in shock for a second before he feels the tears start to surface

Au where James finds out about Regulus plan, so he joins the death eaters to help Regulus

Reg is obviously furious bc he's doing what he's doing so the people he loves don't have to

But now James fucking Potter has the dark mark and can't turn back

So Regulus gives in and they work together from the inside to defeat the dark lord

Along the way, Regulus teaches James legilimency to keep his mind safe

And James teaches Regulus physical fighting techniques

Together they destroy the horcruxes with the help of people on both sides (Barty, Sirius, and Remus being the only three people who know the full story)

Unfortunate addition is that James finds out first hand that Peter joined the DE as a spy for voldy

Are all the books in hp hand written? With quill and ink? Because they don't have any typewriters and thy definitely don't have computers.

So can anyone edit a library book, without madam pince or anyone realising?

What if the only reason those books knew how to defeat horcruxes was due to Regulus' own research. And he added it in so he could remember. Years later, Albus begins his search and takes those books out of the library and finds Reg's notes.

And Albus learns how two of his students died. Regulus in his attempt to destroy voldie, and Pandora, whose random experiments make a lot more sense now.

AND AND AND my housemate got me into supernatural last week and i. am. having. a. brainrot. what tf did they put into this show? siblings always get to me but the winchesters? and their dysfunctional family dynamics? dean's protectiveness gets me as having a younger brother and the way sam wants to get away and go to college despite his family gets me as well as a younger sister. i can see from both their views and it's raw and it's painful but also the way they only really have each other and the way they love and care, the desperate protectiveness and not being able to leave one another yet sometimes not being able to stay too. i just can't get enough

@/queerdeadwizards posted a really cool meta today about the morality/grey morality of the black brothers, and it made me think of something, a point that they alluded to but that i want to expand on, but basically, when talking about the morality of regulus, i think an overlooked aspect of potential grey areas comes from the fact that we have absolutely no insight into his motivations for the things that he does.

like, the facts of the case are, regulus figured out about the horcrux(es?), found, and tried to destroy the locket, leaving a note with the line "i face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more." so we know that regulus wanted to see voldemort defeated. but we actually have no textual evidence of what specifically about voldemort pushed reg to try to help take him down. was it really because he came to the conclusion that voldies ideology was so horrible? or did he just disagree with his methodology?

i know we as a fandom like to charitably assume that regulus genuinely saw the error of his ways, the evilness of voldemort and his goals, this is the characterisation i prefer as well. but we don't actually know. i think, if handled correctly, it could be really interesting to explore a regulus that did the right thing for (at least partially) the wrong reasons.

The hum of the rushing stream complimented by the occasional sweet chirp of the free-flying birds. Rays of sunlight graced the shimmering ground and coerced the flowers to stand proudly, the valley of rainbow petals soaked in the golden beams. Placed amongst the serenity of the idyllic French countryside stood a quaint cottage.

Vines woven along the champagne coloured walls, creating patterns of contrast and framing the windows in a whimsical manner. A sturdy deep mahogany door welcomed visitors and guarded the bubble of happiness the two magical lovers had carved out for themselves.

Hidden between the walls of books laid the lovers. The well-mannered man rested in the strong embrace of the velvet chair, a book propped up with his large slender hands. Dark orbs danced across the pages as he drank in the words of the classic but attention was soon drawn away by the soft mutter of his name, spoken by the truest love he'd ever known.

Against the other end of the green velvet, nestled into the corner of the arm was you. Hair splayed across your barely covered shoulders, the white cloth of his sweater falling from your frame. The leather bound book that you gripped in your hands had been set down as you conjured up your thoughts.

Placing his own hefty book upon the oaken table, body turned towards yours as to symbol his full attention. He could listen to your silky voice all day and could lose himself in your entrancing eyes for hours, but this was different. Your brow furrowed and cheek dipped as you gently bit the inside, a nervous habit you had picked up during school.

"What's wrong my love?"

His hand reached to fall upon your knee, comforting patterns traced as he gave you a moment to form your troubles. Offering a small smile, warmth communicated by the simple gesture as you separated your glossed lips.

"I was thinking about going back, for a visit"

Regulus instantly tensed at the idea of returning to the country they fled 5 years prior. A place that reminded him of all the pains of his past, all the futures he would have lived if he had not met you.

The last time he saw the murky skies and felt the cool winds of England was the morning of your escape. Two 16 year-olds rushing to make the first train away, hands clasped together tighter than comfortable. He remembered the sobs that wracked through your body when he told you of the Dark Lord's plan to mark him, to make him a loyal servant. How his heart broke to think of you being thrust into a world with such darkness, you deserved sunshine and beauty but he was not destined for that. Until the past actions of his disgraced brother led you to the solution.

The eve of his initiation, you ran. Charmed bags held everything you needed for a new life, for a life away from all the evil your home held. Regulus ran from his expectations towards a future of sunshine, whilst you ran away from a life without love and towards a future filled with the love Regulus gave. Fear stricken bodies entangled in an intimate embrace as lone tears escaped the lovers eyes, watching their past fade into the background as their future became clearer.

Breaking the pregnant silence, you regained your purpose to speak. "It's just that, now the war is over and those who sought to ruin us are gone, it might be nice to see the peace. And see some of those we left behind."

"You mean Sirius"

Regulus knew you like the back of his hand, every movement and change in breath was logged carefully. He took immense pride in knowing what you were thinking, how you felt and more importantly, what you desired.

"Reg, it's been 5 years. You can't tell me that you don't wonder what's become of him? I know you wish to reconnect with your brother just once more, you aren't as secretive as you might believe"

The dark-haired wizard's eyes glazed with memories and images. Ancient remnants of the loving interactions between the boys in their younger years danced around his head, remembering the times Sirius would offer solace after their mother's disturbing punishments. The thought of leaving his brother, making Sirius believe that he was dead had almost stopped Regulus from running. The child inside longed to embrace his brother once more but the crust of betrayal he felt created conflict.

A dip in the plush velvet drew his focus back to the present, where you had shuffled closer to the thought-filled man. Hands embracing his far larger ones as you waited for his response, your patience was something that Regulus loved most about you. He finally sighed as his pale fingers intertwined with yours.

"As always my love, you're right. I want him to know who I am now, rather than remember that way-ward 16 year-old who was blinded by the crave of approval. But I'm afraid of going back."

"My darling, I will be by your side for as long as you'd let me and we will only stay as long as you want. But I think to truly start this next stage of our life, we need to close that one. And I know you want Sirius to be involved in that next stage."

Eyes turning to lock with yours as his love flowed through the connection, everything you did was so he could feel loved. Your selflessness and care amazed him every day, the shock still as present as the first time you lulled him back to from a nightmare in your 4th year.

"I love you and I do not know what I did to deserve you but I dare not question it. To close our last chapter is to open the next and our next chapter is one that I thought only existed in my dreams. Just you and I in bliss."

Your eyes wavered with tears at his tender words, knowing the raw truth behind them. Without each other, your lives would have been another pureblood tragedy without love but now, you wrote your own stories. The strong hand of the dark-haired wizard rested against your stomach in a gentle caress before adding.

"Just you and I till the baby is born, of course."

Sirius, still thinking Regulus is a DE, wants nothing to do with him. Remus, having been there, looks through the eyehole of the door and sees he's near death, and forces Sirius to let him in. As Regulus is recovering he tells his brother about what he did, Voldie's secret, and reconciles with Sirius

He had done it. He had actually done it.

The locket sat heavily in the palm of his hand as he collapsed against the sandy shore outside of the cave. His body ached where the inferi had grabbed hold of him and he shivered, remembering the feeling of death overwhelm him. If Kreacher had not apparated them out of the cave as fast as he had, Regulus was sure he’d be dead.

“Master Regulus,” The house elf spoke from beside him, sounding much more tired and weary than Regulus had ever heard before. “I must take you home.”

“No,” Regulus said a bit breathlessly. He couldn’t go back Grimmauld Place, knowing the locket would not be safe there. Not with all the Death Eaters that traveled in and out of it now that Orion was dead and Walburga nearly insane, unable to filter the guests that travelled in and out. He couldn’t go anywhere, not without anyone finding out what he had done. There was no safe space for him, no friends that he could trust, no family he could—

Family. Sirius.

“Kreacher,” He croaked, and the elf looked at him with concern. “I need you to take me to Sirius.”

He landed on the ground with a thud, head whirring a bit from the travel, and he clenched his jaw shut to avoid puking. Kreacher apologized for such a rough apparation and did his best to help his master to his feet. With the locket still gripped tightly in one hand, Regulus raised his free one to give a weak knock on the door in front of him.

For a moment there was nothing, and then the door swung open to reveal a man who was decidedly not Sirius, but still recognizable to the younger Black. There was only one person Regulus knew who had so many scars.

“Lupin?”

“Regulus?” Remus questioned and then turned to look back into the flat briefly before returning his gaze. “What are you doing here?”

Before he could answer, the door swung open wider revealing Sirius. His hair had grown longer since Regulus had seen him last, looking far more relaxed as well, the perfect posture instilled in them from childhood lacking in the way Sirius stood now. He supposed that was the result of leaving such an abusive environment and finally being able to be yourself without the worry of being hit or cursed for it. A part of Regulus was envious of his brother, but he was mostly just happy to see him truly living.

“Get out of here.” Sirius sneered, his eyes blazing as he located the Dark Mark on Regulus’ left arm. “Whatever information you’re trying to get for your ‘Dark Lord’, you’re not getting it.”

“I am not here for him,” Regulus gasped, still feeling faint from his expedition. The locked hissed and Regulus glanced down at it, his palm shaking as he held it out. “I need your help.”

“No.” Sirius said bluntly. Remus stepped forward beside him.

“What is that, Regulus?”

“Remus—”

Lupin shot Sirius a look that shut him up instantly. Regulus would have been impressed by the fact that anyone could get Sirius to be quiet if it weren’t for the circumstances. Walburga had tried for years with far more vile methods and was not nearly as successful.

“What is it?” Remus asked again, voice laced with curiosity.

“I am not entirely sure. I think I know but…” Regulus trailed off, clenching his eyes shut as everything seemed to sway around him. He needed to lie down, drink some water, something to keep him from keeling over right there on his brothers’ doorstep.

Kreacher moved out from behind Regulus, looking at Sirius with disdain as he spoke. “Master Regulus needs to rest…but Master Regulus’ filthy blood-traitor brother is being of no help—”

“That’s enough, Kreacher, please. I think it is time for you to go home. You need rest as well. Speak nothing of this to anyone.” Regulus croaked and the elf’s ears flattened as he backed away, mumbling to himself just before apparating away. Remus moved to push the door wider despite Sirius’ protests and nodded at Regulus.

“Come inside. I’ll get you some tea.”

Regulus said his thanks and pushed forward into the flat. It was small, with the kitchen and living space blending together and one hallway leading down to two bedrooms and a bathroom, but it was nice. There were bookshelves lining the walls stacked high with novels. A record player sat on a small table near the window with a box full of vinyl’s residing next to it. Bright posters of muggle rock bands were stuck on the wall along with some fancier artwork. It was all so Sirius, Regulus thought, as he looked in wonder around. So unapologetically Sirius.

He sat down on the small, orange sofa in the living area, which was the comfiest piece of furniture he had ever sat on. Very unlike the stiff leather ones at Grimmauld Place. Sirius stood in the living room, keeping his eye on Regulus with his arms folded across his chest as Remus bustled about in the kitchen.

After a moment of awkward silence between the two brothers, Remus finally came in, smiling as he sat down on the coffee table before Regulus and passing him the tea.

“There you are. Now, tell us, what do you need help with?”

Regulus kept his gaze on Remus as he spoke, unable to stand the look of distrust in his brothers’ eyes. “I…Voldemort created a plan. A sort of back up plan in case anyone defeats him. It is dark magic and…and I am not even sure that I am right but…but it is the only explanation I have got.” He swallowed, eyes flickering between the two men before continuing. “He has been bragging…about how he cannot die. About how he is…immortal. And it did not make sense because it is impossible, right? To be immortal.”

Remus furrowed his eyebrows and nodded along. Even Sirius shifted forward, slightly intrigued.

“I think he has created a horcrux.”

“A horcrux?” Remus asked, confusion apparent on his face. Sirius however went pale, having extensive knowledge about dark magic from the many books he had read through at Grimmauld Place while he was locked in the cellar.

“That’s impossible.” Sirius muttered, though he seemed uncertain. “There’s too many…steps. Too many things you have to do to accomplish—too many evil actions…” He trailed off, his eyes far off for a moment before snapping towards Regulus. “How do you know?”

Regulus held up the locket once more, the hissing making him feel sick. “He gave hints. About this cave. I decided to investigate, and I found this inside. It has the same characteristics of a horcrux, including this…this dark energy that has been making me feel…strange ever since it has been in my possession.”

“What does it do?” Remus questioned reaching forward to examine the locket.

“It traps part of his soul.” Sirius said. “He can split part of his soul and put it inside of an object so in the event of his death, his soul is preserved and therefore so is his life. Thus, creating a horcrux.”

“I need help destroying it.” Regulus said quickly, feeling rather urgent. “He cannot rise to power; it would be hell on earth. I cannot allow him this power. It is…unnatural.”

Regulus stared at his brother, fire blazing in his eyes. He needed Sirius’ help. More than anything right now. It was the only way to stop this war. The only way he could have a future with his brother in it.

“Will you help me?”

A glimmer of something flickered in Sirius’ eye as he nodded, and Regulus felt himself overcome with relief.

“Of course, Reg. Of course, I’ll help you.”

the thing slughorn did wrong was hiding that riddle had been interested in horcruxes and that he'd given him info on them for so long, especially when there was doubt over riddle's 'death'. but its nowhere close to the things other people have done wrong.

i love the idea of him and reg having this close relationship bc slughorn sucks up to power in that like fatherly/grandfatherly way and reg is eager to please and they just feed into each other. they arent close-close but its a positive relationship.

in an au where reg survives to help defeat voldy in the first war and falls out with his family i can really see him adopting slughorn as a father figure. and i can definitely see slughorn constantly inviting reg and lily ('two of my favourite students and they defeated you know who') to events and stuff. reg enjoys feeling like someone who knows him is proud of him.

I don't care how annoying you find him, we know for a fact that Slughorn loved teaching reg and I'll bet anything reg liked him too because he was NEVER praised at home so having an adult proud of him made him feel special
