as happy as i am about the popularity that willmark is getting (even if the 'mark' in question is from a different universe), i wish ppl would realize that you can ship a villain with a regular guy Without making the villain a yandere cornball
#IM NOT TRYING TO POLICE WHAT CONTENT YOU GUYS MAKE BTW#just making that clear jic it sounds like that#I just personally don't like that characterization of maskless mark / mark gayson / gayvincible / whatever other nicknames there are for hi#I also don't like the yandere trope in general#with invincible its been shown so many times that literally any of the villains (even sinclair) can be reformed#so it wouldn't make sense for that mark variant to be like. well. That#debbie already took in oliver despite the fact that her ex-husband had him with a mantis alien#AND when oliver killed the twins she didn't immediately act like he was a monster#so with gayvincible even though it would probably be really Really hard for her#he's still her son; albeit from a different universe and also evil#but if she was able to get the “killing is okay” mindset out of oliver then she prolly would also be able to get it out of maskless mark#also rick was an evil robot creature and william still helped / is helping him get past that#so it wouldn't be out of character if william helped maskless mark get past whatever happened in his universe & grow and change as a person#im prolly just repeating the same point over again hfdhsgj#basically what im trying to say is; will x maskless mark doesn't have to be corny yandere bs#it could also be william helping him get past whatever happened in his universe#prolly phrased a few things wrong here but eh#invincible#mark grayson#maskless mark#william clockwell#willmark

Gloria Oladipo at The Guardian:
Donald Trump’s second presidential administration shut down a national database that tracked misconduct by federal police, a resource that policing reform advocates hailed as essential to prevent officers with misconduct records from being able to move undetected between agencies. The National Law Enforcement Accountability Database (NLEAD), which stored police records documenting misconduct, is now unavailable, the Washington Post first reported. The US justice department also confirmed the database’s elimination in a statement issued online. “User agencies can no longer query or add data to the NLEAD,” the statement read. “The US Department of Justice is decommissioning the NLEAD in accordance with federal standards.”
A weblink that hosted the database is no longer active. The police misconduct database, the first of its kind, was not publicly available. Law enforcement agencies could use the NLEAD to check if an officer applying for a law enforcement position had committed misconduct, such as excessive force. Several experts celebrated the NLEAD when Joe Biden first created it by an executive order issued in 2023, the third year of his presidency. [...] But Trump has since rescinded Biden’s executive order as part of an ongoing effort to slash federal agencies down. Trump himself initially proposed the database after the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020, months before Biden defeated him in the presidential election that November.
Trump Administration shuts down the National Law Enforcement Accountability Database (NLEAD), a vital tool that knowns about police misconduct.

I feel like there was too much going on this episode? Two serious storylines + two comic relief storylines (+ ads for Amazon Prime). And each of the serious storylines were interesting enough that they could've been developed a bit more in an ep of their own, alongside one of the lighter B plots
#plus we could've gotten 2 eps of plain clothes Tim#i hardly ever complain about plots/pacing#im usually happy to see my faves do whatever every week#buuuuut i had to say something today#also would've had time to see more of the police reform initiative cuz wdym nyla just pawned off all the work for HER project onto Miles????#could've fleshed out the hitman story a lot more cuz i was v confused#could've expanded on the missing person's case#i would esp love to see the implications of them deciding to enter the building without a warrant#the rookie#the rookie 7x14#the rookie s7#the rookie spoilers#chenford#tim bradford#lucy chen#angela lopez#bailey nune#celina juarez#nyla harper#miles penn#john nolan

Evidence shows that better training doesn't lead to better officers. It is a persistent myth and narrative that prevents real, necessary reform when it comes to policing and public safety.

Police are now arresting online teachers and musicians who made songs supporting the students protests. It's so absurd that no one has the freedom of speech to support what's right anymore.

Law enforcement is a dangerous job, however too many individual police officers feel free to assume the role of judge, jury and executioner. When a government official, acting in an official capacity, takes a life when neither themselves or others are directly threatened, whether planned or spontaneous, such action is an extra-judicial execution. Death Penalty Action opposes extra-judicial executions as a form of the death penalty, and it must stop. Extra-judicial executions, carried out in the hands of those sworn to protect, overwhelmingly target the black community and other people of color. Racism is systemic in the United States and pervasive throughout the criminal legal system. Racism is unmistakable in the capital punishment system, rooted in and inextricably linked to the United States’ history of slavery, lynching, and Jim Crow segregation. The undersigned are asking Congress today to enact national legislation that: Bans “chokeholds”
Ends no-knock warrants
Tracks and analyzes data involving law enforcement officer-involved shootings, including data on the race of law enforcement officers and those killed or injured in such shootings
Investigates law enforcement officers with a track record of abusive use of power, including those in corrections
Removes impediments to prosecuting law enforcement officers when there was no legitimate need for the use of lethal violence
No one should have to die because of the color of their skin or where they happen to travel, live, work and/or raise their families. We demand that Congress take action to ensure that these common sense measures are enacted on a national level so that our nation can move toward healing, and closer to the ideal of “Equal Justice Under Law.”

I haven't really decided what route I want to take lex Luthor in in my own au ( ruthless business man with charm and no morals, childhood friend turned enemy, man misguided into hatred due to his own cynical view of the world, really he's pretty versitile as a character) but for some reason I already have a scene in mind as the finale of a redemption arc.
After a several years of loses, prison time, billions in resources wasted and some introspection Lex has decided to have a try at reformation. For his upcoming Gala, which will take place on the 20th anniversary of Superman comming out to the world as an alien, he makes no secret of the fact he plans to give the man of steel a gift.
The night arrives, a large glass dome with a red veil draped over it sits atop a stage, awaiting the arrival of the guest of honour. Superman shows up, initially still distrusting of his old nemesis but willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Before the end of the night lex calls superman onstage to recieve his gift. He gives a speech, about how he used to have a lot of hatred for Superman, how it was misplaced and of his hope that this gift will be the first step in a new direction. a better one.
He pulls off the veil, and a strong green light fills the room.
But it's the wrong shade. It's mixed in with light blues and purples, and when he takes a closer look superman realises, it's a Kryptonian plant.
Earlier in his time as a villain, when experimenting with a potent piece of Kryptonite, lex found a sample of DNA from a Kryptonian plant, preserved relatively well in a crystalline green shell, which he found no immediate use in but stored just in case he did.
He holds his hand out for a shake, superman takes it, and then pulls him into a hug. Lex can feel him wipe off a tear from where he can't see it before he's go with a short thank you.
The rest of the night goes well
