A Headcanon About The Burned Lands Introduction
So, while watching the cutscenes for Dawn of the Dragon, I keep thinking about the introduction to Burned Lands. Particularly, how Cynder talks to Spyro after Ignitus sacrifices himself to get them both across the Belt of Fire.
I know the voice acting leaves much to be desired in that scene, but I wanted to share my take on the more story-related side of things. Specifically, Cynder. Continuing below the cut, so as not to clog up dashes.
My take on the scene is that she's trying to calm Spyro down. Not just to keep him from doing something stupid(i.e. pulling them both into the fire to try and save Ignitus, which would only send them to the same fiery grave), but also because of one thing that does end up happening in this scene.
Dark Spyro.
Remember, Cynder is one of only two people who actually know about this form in the game. And she also has personal experience with the effects the Darkness can have on someone when they're exposed. If Dark Spyro reemerged, there wouldn't be much she could do to stop him. It wouldn't be as simple as it was in the Well of Souls, where she just had to get Spyro away from the Dark Aether to stop his exposure.
So she tries to talk him down, telling him to let it go and not make an irrational decision that would kill them both. Not because she's not grieving Ignitus. She may not have been as close to the Fire Guardian as Spyro, but he was still one of the friendlier people to her after she was freed. And losing him still hurt.
But she knew Spyro saw Ignitus as something of a father figure. She could see just how badly he was hurting when they landed. And she knew if Spyro wasn't careful, he could lose himself again. But she hopes she can redirect his focus away from his grief, and towards the task they have to complete.
But then Spyro starts to give in. And Cynder panics. If she can't snap him out of it, they are in big trouble. But she also can't fight him. In his state, he wouldn't hold back, and their power difference would be even greater. And while she didn't see what happened to Gaul... Well, the fact Spyro was the only one to emerge from that lower level speaks volumes. The best she can do is keep talking. Get him to calm down enough to regain control. But in the end, it's up to Spyro if he chooses to come back to himself or to give in.
Thankfully, she gets through to him. He snaps out of it before he does something dangerous. He's still hurting, that much is obvious, but Cynder is there to be his support. He's not alone, no matter how much he feels like he is. And Ignitus' sacrifice won't be in vain.
If the voice direction were better, I could absolutely see Cynder being conveyed as more panicked/stressed in this scene. Less obviously in the beginning, before Dark Spyro, but more clearly when he does make his comeback. We saw how she reacted to Dark Spyro in The Eternal Night; she was scared there. But she figured out what to do pretty quickly. In the much less controlled situation of "Oh, Ignitus just died to protect them, and Spyro's losing himself to his grief for his father figure, with no Dark Aether to remove as an exposure component"? I imagine she'd be freaking out, looking for literally any way to stop him from keeping this up. Especially with the need to confront Malefor, preferably before the planet exploded.

Do you think arnkana will corrupt one or more of the bad kids? Kristin somehow getting possibly expelled would give the bad kids a lot of rage
I think Ankarna is meant for Fig. Conviction and rage are very big for Fig. Combined with the talk of Ankarna’s loyalty to Cassandra even while corrupted and her protectiveness of her sister, very German Shepard very Fig. But I do think it’s going to be similar to Kristen healing Cassandra’s corruption but even if it doesn’t I don’t think Fig would want to hurt the Bad Kids. They’re her grounding force, they’re the people she has that protective love and loyalty for. And if she did I think it parallel the talks of Ankarna trying to recorrupt Cassandra so they could be together. Rage and care for someone so much that you lose yourself to it and become corrupted.
But also you’ve made me realize, the Bad Kids genuine rage for Kristen getting expelled being rage in defense of the cleric of Cassandra. Rage for the saint of Ankarna’s beloved, she’d absolutely feed off that yeah.

British Michigan AU Oneshot
The Misguided Aunt (Wattpad | Ao3)
Michigan had heard about the new colony, about Sandwich Islands, the country that his Grandfather had taken under his wing. He had heard about her…relationships with America, how she thought that America was good, that he was family.
That he can be trusted.
Michigan was eager to avoid her for that reason. He didn’t know what nonsense America had told her about him, but Michigan was pretty sure that Sandwich Islands would try to recorrupt him with America’s delusions.
Unfortunately, he was not so lucky.
“Michigan,” Grandfather asked a few hours after Sandwich Islands had arrived, “I want you to help me.”
“Yes?” Michigan asked, eager to do anything he could to help his grandfather.
“I need you to help me show Sandy that America is using her and that she shouldn’t trust him and should begin to distance herself from him,” Grandfather asked, placing a gentle hand on Michigan’s head.
“Are you sure I’m the best—” Michigan began before Grandfather’s hand suddenly tightened around his hair, pulling it sharply.
“You are the only colony of America that has been decorrupted. What better person than you to show her the delusions and backwardness of America?” Grandfather said. Michigan nodded.
“I understand. I apologize for questioning you,” he said. Grandfather smiled, and Michigan felt Grandfather’s grip on his hair loosen.
“Good boy. Now, I think it’s best you start now, before she takes to lashing out. Ireland has sworn to be troublesome, so the sooner you help her, the less likely she is to be corrupted by his madness,” Grandfather said before pushing Michigan forward some. Michigan stumbled before recatching his balance and rushing off to find Sandwich Islands.
She was easy to find despite having the same flag as so much of his family due to the air of confusion and unfamiliarity around her.
“Are you Aunt Sandy?” Michigan asked, just to verify her identity. The colony startled before nodding.
“I am,” she said, “Who are you?”
“My name is Michigan,” Michigan began, watching her for any trace of recognition. Much to his disgust, she seemed to recognize his name, a sign that America was probably feeding her lies about him.
“Oh! Lika’s so—”
“I’m not that bastard’s son! I am Canada’s son and Britain’s grandson, and I’ve always been British because I refer to acknowledge anything between myself and that…that monster,” Michigan snapped, anger flooding through him. He hated this. He hated to be associated with America. He couldn’t wait until the day America dropped this delusion and Michigan could finally live in peace.
Sandwich Islands’ eyes widened as she took a small step back, seemingly caught off guard by his anger.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her tone nervous. “I had been told you were Amelika’s son.”
“I’m not. That…America took me away from my family; he hurt me and tainted me. I was lucky enough to be saved, but…other territories have to suffer under him. I…I hate him,” Michigan said, trying to ignore the pain that came with those memories, the months of learning who he really was and where he belonged.
“That…that doesn’t sound like Lika. Any time he brought you up…you could hear how much he misses you,” Sandwich Islands said. Michigan scowled.
“It was probably all just a trick to fool you. He’s probably trying to steal you from Grandfather because he’s upset that I wanted to be with my real family. You’re just being used by him to hurt Grandfather,” Michigan reasoned. It made perfect sense. Why else would America care about any of his half-siblings if not to corrupt them and turn them against Grandfather?
“I am not! Lika loves me, and he cares about me as a person. He’s not using me to try and get back at Beretania,” Sandwich Islands said, crossing her arms with a small huff. Michigan suppressed the urge to roll his eyes. How could she be so stupid to believe America about anything?
There must be something about the savage mind that would explain it, as Michigan could see no other reason that someone could believe something so delusional. Well, he could think of one other reason, but Sandwich Islands was a favorite of his Grandfather, and Michigan was not going to risk the punishment that would probably follow, pointing out how she was mad.
He knew Grandfather would just see it as Michigan looking for an excuse for his failure. Even if she were mad, Michigan would still be expected to convince her of the truth.
“How can you know that? How can you dismiss the pain I suffered just so you can feel like you’re in the right? How can you do any of that and claim you aren’t being manipulated?” Michigan asked, his voice a mix of anger and confusion, slowly getting louder.
He needed to show her she was wrong, and that meant pointing out the flaws in her argument until she had nothing left to argue with. Then, she would have to agree with him and realize that he was right.
“I don’t know what kind of pain you are claiming to feel, but it’s obvious that Lika loved and adored you,” Sandwich Islands said, sounding annoyed, like she was the one arguing with someone who was defending a nonsense claim.
“He only cared about using me to make himself look better! I never meant anything to him! Don’t act like you know my personal relationships! He killed my brother!” Michigan snapped before turning away. He knew he had a job to do, but he needed to calm down before he let his anger get out of hand.
At least he gave Sandwich Islands something to think about. Hopefully, with time, she would realize her mistakes. If Grandfather hadn’t promised to give her independence, then he would have had the time necessary to teach her the error of that way of thinking, as he did with Michigan.
She would be better off with them forever anyway, safe, away from America, and safe from anything else that would harm her.
America was hurting her, and Grandfather wanted to help her.
Why couldn’t she see that?

Descendants angels and demons au.
Bal. Mal is the favoured daughter of Hades sent to corrupt gods favourite son Ben. However. It looks like they might be influencing each other.
Devie. Evie’s a sucubus trying to make Doug fall. Doug is a scribe who’s meeting her efforts flirt for flirt. Effortlessly might I add.
Jaynelos. Jane is a guardian angel slowly becoming undone by a pair of highly persuasive chaos demons named Jay and Carlos.
Gilonnie. Gil is an innocent demon paired up with the rather rough and tumble Lonnie to keep the orphaned Dizzy Tremaine in balance.
Numa. Uma is a vengeance demon slowly but surely being turned around by Ned and his relentlessly kind and persuasive optimism.
Perdox. Persey is a demon in charge of recorruption. But their latest subject, Maddox, is proving to be a very difficult yet highly intriguing challenge.
Andie. Hadie is an incubus tasked with seducing an arts angel Anthony. Problem is. Anthony is more hedonistic than even Hadie is.
Chaudrey. Chad and Audrey are incredibly stuck up angels whose only goal is to keep the demons out. But due to all of the fraternising. They are failing.
Hades. The devil. Satan. Old Nick. Mr Scratch. He runs hell. Technically all the demons father. But he only claims Persey, Hadie, Harry, Mal and Evie.
Adam. God. But a very ambivalent and investing god. Is much more in line with Chad and Audrey’s plans than Ben’s. And he never hesitates to tell him so.

Which of the Night Children would be the most likely to return to ‘evil’ after being freed, by Night Swan’s definition or their own? Jack because of the guilt he feels? Brezziana or Sara for the addicting rush of power and attention? Wander or Mihaly because of how much of themselves that Night Swan took away and controlled?
As long as the majority remains under Night Swan's control, whoever is freed would be highly susceptible to recorruption due to isolation and the lingering effects of their corruption. But let's say they are all freed from her control and none of them are Night Children anymore. The truth is there's only one of them who could, and ultimately would end up 'evil' again - Jack Rose.
Even with the after-effects of Night Swan's control, the others would have mental defences and likely never be vulnerable like that towards her again, especially when together.
Wanderlust would send Sara home and never allow her back again so she could be safe. Brezziana would channel her increased aggression and guilt towards fighting NS, and Mihaly would seclude themself to work on making their mind a mental fortress and regain control over their own person. And Wanderlust's skewed morals would make him less trusting and more willing to do what it takes to stand against her.
While they would be separate they would have care and support from countless people who worked tirelessly to free them. Their time under her care would leave mental scars that may never quite heal, but at the least they would still be secure.
Jack however has no friends beyond the Just Dancers, and no family other than his Mother. Jack has little to no security, no connections, and definitely no allies otherwise. Post-corruption he'd be landing on much shakier ground than the rest of them. If you then factor in his new need for self-preservation, while Jack wouldn't necessarily re-join his Mother, he would not stay on the side of 'good' very long.
Truthfully I want to write about/examine his lack of roots/connections via the one-shots so this is honestly not as detailed as it could be to avoid spoiling.

I so desperately want a massive political history of The Earth Kingdom. If I could have any other thing from the world of ATLA/LOK — book, show, comic, game — it would be that. Bc I am so interested in it.
🚨 Spoilers for every thing — Yangchen and Kyoshi books, ATLA, LOK, Comics, etc. 🚨
The earliest we hear about an actual Earth Kingdom and Earth Royal family is in F.C. Yee’s Yangchen books. At this point, the Earth Kingdom has just gone through a civil war, wherein the White Lotus manipulated the Water Tribes and Fire Nation to sponsor a challenger to the throne, which is wild. The challenger was defeated and the Earth Kingdom entered a period of intense isolationism. There are a handful of port cities where foreign trade is allowed, with incredibly powerful governors who actively manipulate the system to build their wealth at the expense of the citizens. The Earth King is paranoid af, to the point that he is donning disguises and sneaking around to catch plots against him. And some of these governors are actively plotting against him and inventing new weapons of mass destruction (combustion benders) in order to usurp him.
The next we see of the Earth Kingdom is in the Kyoshi novels were it’s a devolved mess of warlordism. Various daofei groups had taken over parts of the inner provinces and the Earth Monarch was incredibly weak. There’s also the whole Wars of Secrets and Daggers scramble for the throne, which is only mentioned.
According to the Wiki, in the online comic Escape from the Spirit World, Kyoshi pressured the ineffective 46th Earth King to adopt a constitutional monarchy in order to prevent further oppression. This occurred in the aftermath of a peasant revolt that occurred after the death of Chin the Conquerer.
Avatar Legends then gives us a King Jialun, who reversed many of the progressive changes of this constitution and murdered the sages who agreed with Kyoshi in “The Night of the Silenced Sages.” The government was recorrupted, but no other successor had the same power as Jialun. So the Earth Kingdom monarchy was corrupt but weak.
Then we next see the Earth Kingdom with King Kuei (the 52nd Earth King). According to the old website, he ascended to the throne at the age of 4, which is why Long Feng — who served as regent — was able to essentially takeover.
But based on what we see in the show, the Earth Kingdom has completely splintered. The Earth King only has power in Ba Sing Se, and that power is only ceremonial. He is unaware of the 100 year war and completely inept to rule. Then it’s Azula and the fire nation takeover.
In the comics that come between ATLA and LOK, King Kuei, without the influence of Long Feng, takes an active role in the governance of the Kingdom. He is willing to go to war over the colonies in “The Rift,” but is also willing to be shown wrong. He was instrumental in the peace after the war and fully restored the monarchy as the full power of the Earth Kingdom government.
Then we get to LOK. Hou Ting is a fairly powerful, incredibly corrupt monarch. She tried to exert more control over the people, especially the outer provinces. She’s then killed by Zaheer. The power vacuum is ultimately filled by Kuvira, a non-dynastic dictator who rules by force and sponsors brain washing and the forced removal of Fire and Water nation descendants. The next dynastic ruler is Wu (whom Kuvira had usurped). He is Hou Ting’s great-nephew, and at least third in line from her. He is the only surviving member of the dynasty and seems unprepared to rule at his coronation, after three years of living in Republic City.
After the whole Kuvira thing is taken care of (Book 4 of LOK), Wu then decides to abdicate and democratize the Earth Kingdom. The post-canon comics (Ruins of Empire) show the struggles and setbacks of this, but ultimately reaffirm this path.
And I am so obsessed with this whole history. There are, according to the Wiki, at least 2 dynasties, the Hao and the Hou Ting. It resembles Chinese history, but doesn’t just follow it. There’s dynastic decline and really interesting incidents that I wish were more fully fleshed out. Not to mention as the centralized monarchy weakens, you see the rise of local powers, like the King of Omashu. I just find the whole thing so fascinating and I wish I had a comprehensive book.

ooh i really do like the idea of a double corruption via the box honestly, its more unique and since the box is much closer in a sense it could get really personal, as i think it affects everyone differently so while the corruption can easily happen to both, it could show in much different ways which is really interesting. i could definitely see one of them going down the road first, easily making the other follow cause they care so much - maybe for added angst complying to their wishes to embrace the box, only to allow themselves to be corrupted so that they could stay together
i think the hardest part is showing that corruption itself, as its manifesting more as a mental dark side than physical, but i'd say its close to the same kind as the belt corruption in your head. except the belt would be stronger due to the prestige factor, but yeah
so... i might have the start of an idea, but wanted to ask you something as the kip sabian lore specialist. let's say someone like oc decides to wear the box out of pure curiosity. what would or could happen to him?
lore specialist always at your service yo
buuuut that would depend mostly on how strong oc is mentally, as the box goes for the mental weakness first and foremost before anything else. it takes over the weak mind and improves it to its own liking, turning the mind into a messy puddle of just following commands and doing what its told, even if it would be risky to do so but as long as its for its own personal gain its worth of trying, so questionable advice and commands would be given (think like how kip asked advice from the box in the match against pac, and yet got completely demolished afterwards - advice for personal gain, no matter the consequences)
it would also affect the physical state, the box at least in kips case makes him nonverbal so i could imagine this being the case for others - if not nonverbal, it might take away some other sense? depending on the person, probably what their strongest sense would be. its also very much making them more contained in their movement and interactions, giving you a limited space (and potentially energy?) to work with. as if its preventing you from taking a stance against it, from running away. once you are under the spell of the box, you cannot escape, no matter what
the thing with the box is that it contains so much negative energy in it, that its channeling it as a captivating force and also forcing you to feel it and feed off of it, since thats what it was build from and on originally. its so negative and its the driving force behind it
i think thats about the basics of the box lore with its abilities/effects? idk if this answers the question but heres things!! (feel free to poke me again if you need better/more specific answers im so tired i cant brain rn but i wanted to answer to this before i think about going to bed)

Quick pre-ep 16 speculation: The Rat Grinders' righteous anger at Aguefort Academy's BS drove them to try and resurrect Ankarna via Lucy, but she bailed last second and they killed her in a magical rage (Mary Anne is responsible for the knocked over trees--she's scary strong). Buddy was chosen because Sol subsumed Ankarna's domains; I've also seen theories that Devil's Honey turned her into Helio? Jace might be on Team Nightmare King and is trying to recorrupt Cass; also, is he a Divine Soul?
(Note: I got a TON of speculation posts after last episode so get ready for a bug ask dump)
Helio becoming Ankarna would be maybe the wildest thing that has ever happened on this show lol. Not my top theory--esp because as far as we know he has a mortal mom--but not entirely out of pocket and I would love to see the fan reaction considering how many people love Ankarna and hate Helio.
(Side Note: I do think a lot of the Helio hate is misplaced barring more information about nefarious or neglectful goings on because we haven't actually seen him do anything bad. Kristen was just disappointed in him. Which, sure that's fine. That's totally valid to feel let down upon meeting your hero. But why were you expecting the god of corn to tell you why suffering exists? That seems way out of the purview of corn. It's not like he's God. He's just a god. He's not even the most important god in his own pantheon! And he has followers that suck of course from the run of the mill zealots like Kristen's parents to straight up terrorist cultists like the Harvestmen but that's not exclusive of Helioism. But this is so off track and for a different post entirely)
I've also been wondering if Jace is Divine Soul since we don't really have a great idea how he's involved here. Him being connected to one of our once-dead gods would be a very interesting way to give him a connection.
And I would also be done with Aguefort BS if I went to that school to give Kipperlilly one right, but that's still not a good enough reason to kill 2 clerics, girl!
Anyway, speculation recorded!

I know this au is about the corruption of the ancients, but i need to ask how did this all happened? why were they corrupted?
Wellllll they aren't technically corrupted corrupted, they're still their normal selves. More so, they're being tempted by their soul jams which is causing them to be corrupted. :> As mentioned before, this AU follows down the original lore of Cookie Run Kingdom; (aka Anicents gain their soul jams sometime after the beast cookies fall from grace and the witches locked them away in Beast Yeast.) However, in this au, the witches made a miscalculation and took the worst part of the beast's soul jams and purified them. The part they purified wasn't pure to begin with, so they basically slowly recorrupted. Due to this, the ancients also slowly corrupted, though with a good amount of resistance.
(Also note because of this the beast Cookies are mostly not evil and are kinda just locked up Book of Bill style regretting their life choices :3)
Apologies if this isn't very clear, I will be drawing stuff to show this off better in the future. :D

I'm gonna say it, and I'm gonna elaborate.
Dark Spyro and Dark Cynder should've been mini bosses, if not full on bosses, in Dawn of the Dragon.
The idea has been poking at my brain since I first saw this video. Specifically a comment thread about the idea of Dark Spyro being a boss fight in Dawn of the Dragon. And I love it.
The main counter to this, however, is the co-op gameplay.
Obviously, Cynder needs to win this boss fight for the game to continue. So in 2 Player Mode, what about the player in control of Spyro? Cynder's player automatically has the win condition, so it would be unfair.
This is where Dark Cynder comes in! Basically switch the roles, then it doesn't feel as unfair. You could probably replace the first phase of the Malefor fight with a Dark Cynder boss fight?
So, here's basically my(very rough) ideas for these respective fights!
Both fights have one or two phases. So not as long as Malefor, but longer than elite enemies.
Spyro
Ignitus sacrifices himself, Spyro goes Dark in his grief despite Cynder's attempts to calm him down. Cynder steps back, and the cutscene ends with a wide shot of the two dragons about the face off. Or a focus on a very worried/scared Cynder.
There's a few parts to this fight.
One is, obviously, actually hitting Spyro. In single player, it's similar to the elemental dragon in the Eternal Night, in that Spyro will indicate certain elements. Both to warn you what he's using, as well as indicate which of Cynder's elements will be most effective against him(i.e Fire vs Wind, Poison vs Electricity, as ideas). In multiplayer, you have Spyro's indicator.
The second objective is dodging any attacks that get launched Cynder's way by Spyro. Hence the element indication in single player.
And third? Similar to keeping the gates closed on the Warfang level, Cynder has to keep Spyro from flying into the flames. So there's the occasional QTE between attacks to pull him away. In multiplayer, there would be a cooldown for Spyro's player to try and fly off if they want.
Amidst the battling, Cynder and Spyro both have various dialogues triggered by reaching certain points on the health bar. Cynder, pleading with Spyro to snap out of it, maybe even screaming at him to get a grip and not make Ignitus' sacrifice in vain.
Once the boss battle health bar is depleted(won't impact the normal health bar, because that would suck), we go to the cutscenes again. This time, Cynder successfully talks Spyro down, and immediately goes to comfort him and offer comfort.
Cynder
We then proceed with the rest of the game until the cutscene with Malefor, where he recorrupts Cynder and has her attack Spyro. Malefor ascends into the sky, remaining close. For whatever reason. I dunno, I'm writing this at midnight and my brain is not braining. The end of the cutscene is Spyro getting to his feet and dropping into a fighting stance.
Cynder's fight only has the two objectives, don't lose all your health, and deplete Cynder's(again, won't impact her regular health).
This time, Cynder is silent. Meanwhile, Spyro is calling out to her, telling her to fight it. That she's stronger than this, and that he's not sure he can beat Malefor without her. And he adds that she's been his biggest anchor this whole time, especially after Ignitus died, and he feels horrible for letting Malefor take control over her again.
Once Cynder's health bar is depleted, she collapses to the ground, and we jump to the cutscene. Spyro, once again, pleads with Cynder to come back to herself. She closes her eyes and shakes her head, seeming to switch between trying to attack and trying to step back from Spyro. But he keeps approaching, still reaching out to her, and willing to put himself at risk to save her again. Cynder lunges, seemingly to attack, and Spyro braces for it, knowing he left himself open. Instead, Cynder is revealed to have gone back to normal, and hugging/nuzzling Spyro. With a voice that's clearly bordering on crying, she thanks Spyro for not giving up on her. The two turn to Malefor, and take to the sky, where he brings the snake charms back, and we continue with the Malefor boss fight. The end of the cutscene is Spyro looking at Cynder, and asks her if she's ready to end this. Cynder smiled, and tells him she's looking forward to some payback, then they chase after Malefor.
