i love to cook and i love food! i love cooking and i love eating! i love making food and then eating it! wait what do you mean i have to do this three times a day every day for my entire life and also dishes and grocery shopping and
#brought to you by i do genuinely really enjoy cooking but once ive cooked im like. ok im done now right. right#i made up a banger dish cobbled together from eight different recipes blogs that's healthy filling and satisfies my pickiness#what do you mean i now i have to figure out what to cook and eat AGAIN three hours later#also every recipe is written for like. feeding a table. what if im 23 and just feeding my own singular self#i made a really tasty kabocha squash gratin a couple weeks ago and the first two nights it was good#but by night three or four of kabocha squash gratin i was ill just looking at it and there was still an entire casserole dish of it left#and dont tell me to freeze things. the freezer is way full and it is also the place where food goes to get forgotten about#until the end of time or until its freezer burnt or until i get tired of playing jenga and just start tossing things#also you go grocery shopping you get healthy stuff like vegetables and then you make your meal and then you have to do it again#but by the end of week 2 your vegetables are bad. so now you're eating tuna rice again. or frozen broccoli in mac n cheese

I did get called out by my therapist for blorbo crimes (nicely, she was very supportive and encouraging so this is largely a joke) over the fact that I made soup, bread, AND now meat pies this week, but you know what? I have soup, bread, and meat pies. And this is what's important. 馃槍
#her: is it more enjoyable to cook since it's from a cookbook related to a thing you like?#me (has specifically made xhorhas foods): .......maybe#tbf the bread is a king arthur recipe but I did make it to go WITH the soup#I have SO MUCH SOUP it actually filled EIGHT JARS#and ALSO tbf there was a meat pie recipe in the taldorei section iirc but the asarius one had instructions for freezing#which was EXACTLY what I wanted cuz I can get good frozen meat pies but the shop that makes them is farrrr#and grocery store frozen meat pies are. just nowhere near as good.#so I did in fact go with the asarius version.

Genuinely impressed these turned out as good as they did because SOMEONE (me) used twice as much butter as necessary for the cookies. Can't wait to try this one again the right way!
Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies - 3.75/5
These taste good but they're so much effort to make. Just find a really good snickerdoodle recipe you like more tbh, unless you want cookies that look cuter.

Woks of Life Spicy Beef Salad with garlic fried rice, saut茅ed sweet peppers, and fresh cherry tomatoes
#didn鈥檛 have time to partially freeze the steak so it wasn鈥檛 sliced as thin as the recipe but still great#loved the velveting + blanch method. usually i need some crisp in my meat but it was sooo tender i really liked it#doubled the marinade and sauce and served with a friend鈥檚 homemade chili oil#definitely a do again#food

gf baking recipes are so deeply annoying because like. i am not going to use four different flours and a laxative made from plant husks you have to grind by hand to make this snickerdoodle
#the husks thing is real psyllium fiber is used so much in gf baking and it's also the thing that makes like. metamusil work. no#and there's always a recipe note saying DON'T buy the powder form of this shit. grind it YOURSELF. well first of all im not doing that#and okay i GET not liking commercial flour blends but jesus christ i can't just buy ALL of these flours man. bc every recipe has em in diff#rent ratios so i'd have to keep the whole bags sitting around. and theyre SO fucking expensive man. for what. for WHAT#i just want recipes to use my sourdough discard man.
