And now they have reached out to NRC to extend an invitation for its students to be the leads of their first musical! The lucky students will take on the roles of the Sinners in a fantastical story of life, death and rebirth. There will be seven students to fill the roles of the main Sinners, and a raffle to be held to pick the crucial role of the Servant, a hidden eighth Sinner. The loss of Toriyama-Sensei hit me hard. I cried the evening I heard the news, like losing a family member, even though I never had the honor in meeting him.

Like every other artist, his influence is astronomical. DBZ was the highlight of my day as I got back from school and dropped in front of the TV to watch the next episode with hype, to then talk about it at school with my friends. We would scream our lungs out with the power levels and try to do the Fusion dance, which was hard to do btw. Being a girl liking DBZ wasn’t weird, even by that time, although I was the only girl at school who loved anime. 😂

I remember watching Rebirth of Fusion over and over as a friend gave me a VHS copy (since that was hard to get anime stuff back in the 90’s unlike today). I watched it so much I didn’t need to read the wonky yellow subtitles and I could tell the movie word by word in Japanese. I would NEVER imagine watching Dragon Ball on the big screen, that movie was Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

I grew up with DBZ in Spanish, English and Japanese. I know the songs in three languages. It’s insane to me the amount of figures that I own of Dragon Ball. Mainly Vegita and Broly. I gotta get me a SSG Gojita now.

I haven’t drawn DBZ style since junior-high. I hope I made you proud Sensei! 🙏🏼

even more screenshots from the Beyblade Metal Manga I quite enjoyed, this time with my thoughts! Also, I should clarify that the translation I'm reading is so wonky and probably not correct, but I get a general idea of what's going on, and also it's so funny to me. it adds to the charm!

i am such a huge fan of these three being besties it it just so funny to me. I've only ever watched the anime, and I'm in love with this with random guy who is still wearing a bey necklace being friends with the Bladers Spirit[tm] and a small child haha.

also also I feel like the manga is really good for Kyogin fans (I myself am a multishipper, but I do love me some Kyogin. Just the way Gingka blushes? the shared special move? God they're so sweet I want nothing but the best for my boys!

Yu is so silly! I love him so much, truly he's like, "yeah I have the power of an evil god but we stay silly lmao" and I just, so far he has no real characterization, but maybe after Gingka beats Ryuga(Which I haven't read past yet, but still!!)

Omg what the hell?? god I wish he was this funny in the show. also, why can't dogs beyblade? Hokuto was perfectly able to beyblade earlier in the series (in fact, he uses a Libra bey!) but whatever. the suddenly serious dog face is gold.

Also, uh, Phoenix? that's what you want to look like? the fuck? I do really like The Pheonix disguise in the show, but oh well. Also, like, Kentas bey gets stepped on and shattered, then phoenix comes in and like, "Believe in your bey kid" and then Kenta gets Flame Sagittario? Okay and this is such a weird aspect of the manga so far, the constant Absolute Destruction of every bey and then the rebirth/evolution of the next MetalWheel/EnergyRing version? It's really wild to happen, in my mind. And like, Benkei gets a new bey off screen (off page?) so why does Kenta (And Ryo, ig) just believe in themselves really really hard and get super cool new Beys? the hell?

Like, huh? are you going to tell me Fireblaze is just as powerful/some sort of Foil to L-Drago? What about Pegasus? Pegasus is supposed to keep the Dragon bey sealed, ig, but Fireblaze is sealed alongside L-Drago?

also, Benkei in the manga is wild, because he shows up the furst few chapters, gets shaved, dissappears, comes back and is friends with kyoya (which makes more sense since Kyoya is a bit friendlier in this verse) and then he gets his shit absolutely rocked by fighting Ryuga, which of course doesn't happen in the Anime. When Tetsuya taunts Kyoya about Benkei's hospitalization (because the victims of Ryuga still get hospitalized, but not in a weird soulless coma) Kyoya is ready to use his fists. let Kyoya beat the shit outta a guy, as a treat!

absolute gem, I love him. Ryutaro isn't in the manga for that long, but him and his janky as hell translation is perfect to me!

I've never liked Tobias, but he and Sora fight Reiji and Ryuga, and Reiji just shreds storm Capricorn? also, he's not all slimy and freaky as shit in the manga like he is in the shoe. Also, Gingka just, destroys Poisen serpent in his battle against Reiji. Gingka launches his bey and then walks away. Icon.

Why do people want Dan Heng to be Dan Feng. Like actually, where does this come from.

The molting rebirth is literally a person going in an egg, incubating for a while and basically de-aging and coming out as another person.

And if you want to bring up the whole thing of Dan Heng’s molting rebirth being all wonky that still doesn’t take away from the fact that that’s a whole different person.

It’s the whole thing with amnesia plot lines all over again. It’s the persons choice of what they want to do, if they can’t or don’t want to be the person they were before they don’t have to be. Yes others might get sad, but that’s a person with autonomy and shit.

From what I’ve seen and remember from HSR canon, vidyadhara regard reincarnations as new people and the old incarnation/version as having died. Literally just listening to how Bailu reacts to learning that the-nice-lady reincarnated is enough to get this. And yes, some leave instructions for their next reincarnations like taking care of certain things or getting to know people. But that isn’t the same as being the same goddamn person.

And doesn’t the fact that Dan Feng got forced to do a molting rebirth basically mean that he was executed for the (frankly confusing) crimes he did?

I just, for some reason it annoys me when I see it: it feels like you’re reducing Dan Heng to just being Dan Feng with amnesia and not a whole different person with different life experiences and a whole ass found family.

Armand/Daniel (with Marius/Daniel and some minor Armand/Marius) - Mature - 5,181 words

As Daniel starts to recover from his madness, Armand pays a visit to the little house in Norway where Marius and Daniel are living, and Daniel worries about what his maker will make of him now.

This is a fic I've been writing on and off in my head since I wrote Into the Midst of Madness but I was never sure if I thought Armand had actually seen him at all during this time. Of course, a lot has changed in my opinion since I wrote that fic and I would probably change a lot of things about it now. After rereading Blood and Gold, TVA, and some of Anne's notes, I decided that yeah, I actually do think they had some contact before PL. Still undecided on how much or how frequent, but it now feels more likely to me that visits such as these occurred.

Anyhow, I digress. I could talk about this stuff and the wonky timeline of it all for hours. (Please hit me up if you ever want to discuss this stuff, it's wild.)

The title comes from a line in the Devil's Minion chapter that felt exceptionally relevant here.

Short Excerpt:

Daniel’s mind is clear. He’s not entirely used to the feeling, but he likes not being mired in a mental fog all the time or singularly obsessive over one thing.

He’s been feeling better for weeks. He’s still building his models most nights, but he’s paying more attention to the radio Marius that left in his work room, actually listening to some of the programs. Occasionally he comes out and sits on the sofa with Marius and they watch an episode of some old sitcom. 

And now, finally, after over a month of Daniel feeling more present and comfortable in his own mind, where he can focus on things besides the models in front of him and the need for blood, he dares to hope he might be improving. 

Marius says as much, speaking the thought into existence as he ruffles Daniel’s short blond hair one night. Neither of them will say that he’s recovered, but they can both agree he’s further along in the process. 

Armand takes the news by deciding to visit. 

Daniel isn’t sure how he feels about it at first. He longs to see him, of course, but he’s anxious about being seen. The Mad Fledgling, the one who giggled his way through his immortal rebirth and lost his goddamn mind. The only one Armand ever turned and Daniel can’t help but wonder if he regrets it. 

He fears he regrets it. 

He fears it every time they have a stilted phone conversation, every time Armand hurries off the line, every time he thinks of their last fight, or how Armand tried to end it all. 

He tries hard not to think of these things, but sometimes the thoughts are inescapable and all-consuming. 

And now with him coming here, there’s nowhere to hide. Daniel is what he is. Almost two decades in the blood and already a mess.

“Not a mess,” Marius assures him, a gentle kiss to his temple as he dresses Daniel in his finest pair of jeans and a brand new polo shirt. He stands behind Daniel in the mirror. Daniel stares at his reflection: a pale young man in his early thirties whose violet eyes shine with preternatural light, whose long fingers tap nervously against the dark denim on his thigh. His short hair falls neatly into place. 

Immortal, forever.

Or as long as he can stand it, anyhow.

“Don’t be morose,” Marius chastises, answering his thoughts out loud. Getting Daniel to speak out loud, to vocalize his thoughts, is part of his recovery. 

“I’m not,” Daniel mutters.

He has no desire to end things. He’s finally coming out of a very long, dark tunnel and seeing the light again. It’s a new lease on forever. 

But there’s that nagging fear that he won’t measure up in Armand’s estimation. That his heart will be weighed and found lacking.

“You’re perfect.” Marius claps him on the shoulders. 

Daniel snorts, laughing slightly as he pulls away.

The doorbell rings. 

He’s early.

• The book starts with Harrow in Hell. A reference to the Harrowing of Hell. Based on the presence of a porn mag I'd guess it's her own little river bubble inside Alecto but still just speculation.

• There is a wedding of some sort. Possibly other excuses to dress up the characters in formal ware. Some people have expressed concern that this was referencing the N- and C- wedding in Nona, but nope. We have confirmation that it is in book 4.

• This first one again confirms allusions to the harrowing of hell/ the decent of Christ. For those out of the loop the tldr:

The harrowing of hell is an Old English and Middle English term referring to the period of time between the Crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection. In triumphant descent, Christ brought salvation to the souls held captive there since the beginning of the world.

A lot of speculation has gone on around about Harrow and her role in freeing the souls trapped in the river/reviving the river from whatever is poisoning it. [ *cough*JOD*cough*].

Also another reference towards formal outfits for the cast. So at least the wedding if not multiple formal functions.

• The question of Harrow and Gideon's souls will continue into Alecto. Looking forward to info on how enmeshed they've become and/or if they can be separated.

• I mean this quote is infamous by now. Which of our faves is it in reference to? All of them?

•I feel like we haven't seen enough about the differences between rebirth [a la Paul and Nona] vs Resurrection [Gideon/Harrow?! Someone else?] So while not a direct promise of anything in Alecto, I feel like the implication is there.

•and the second is from an AMA from Aug. 5 2020

• The cover is definitely done since she was talking about it in 2020 and reaffirmed right before Nona’s release. I feel like they are waiting until they have a better idea of a publishing date before release. Maybe we'll get news in Q4 after the Nona paperback release and excitement dies down?

• From the same 2020 AMA. As this is pre-Nona, it could be possible that the heist mentioned deals with Gideon's body [either the Houses heisting it from BOE which happened off screen or the heist of Gideon's body from the barracks]. But I included it just in case that isn't what is being referenced.

• Same 2020 AMA: Again this could be covered in Nona as being what the John chapters were about, but also maybe not.

• Another infamous quote at this point. Definitely feels like this is about the 'Third Most Toxic Polycule' of Harrow/Gideon/Ianthe and maybe Alecto is in this loop as well. With all the references to weddings and relationships I'm wondering who out of these four is marrying who...[maybe it's someone totally different, but my money is on someone in this situation]

FFVII Rebirth Demo Impressions

I played the demo several nights ago and loved it! This post is about my thoughts/impressions as I was playing.

(Quick note: My shipping preferences are Cloud/Tifa and Zack/Aerith, so that is going to influence my perspective and what I write about. There will also be spoilers for the OG game and Crisis Core throughout).

One of the first things I noticed as I was playing through was the graphics. The graphics look fantastic. I can tell the game being on the PS5 is making a big difference. The jump in quality from Remake to Rebirth is really noticeable.

It's so weird seeing Cloud act like Zack. Like I KNOW it's Zack and it's creeping me out a;lksdjfdfj because it's just...so not Cloud. They knocked the "this is wrong" vibes out of the park by using Zack's mannerisms and gestures with Cloud's model slapped on top, and it's giving this uncanny valley feeling to everything "Cloud" does. Cody Christian even sounds more like Zack's VA (Caleb Pierce). The attention to detail with all that is excellent. The updated graphics give them a lot to work with in terms of showing the wonkiness with Cloud's memories.

There was also a clever shot in the truck of "Cloud" asking the real Cloud if he's okay, and you see a hint of Cloud's blond hair peeking through the helmet.

I liked the dramatic/heroic version of Sephiroth's theme that played. And when Zack gets hurt by one of the monsters, I think it was Cloud who made sure he's okay, which was a sweet touch. Also, the screen is tinted with green, which is a cool way to show the effects of the Mako poisoning on Cloud.

Another thing I noticed: Cloud's eyes look SUPER green, more so than in Remake. Don't know if it's the upgrade to the PS5 or if they wanted to show the Mako poisoning progressing, but I thought it was a cool detail.

Okay it's like Cloud swapped he and Zack in his memories directly at one point soon after they arrive in Nibelheim. I swear this is 100% what Zack would've said to Cloud about Aerith, but instead it's one of the "security officers" saying it to "Cloud": "So, any friends here you wanna see? Maybe a girlfriend? Speaking of which, I bet you're dying to hear about mine. Am I right?"

Lmao Sephiroth still has groupies, this is giving Crisis Core fanclub vibes and I'm all here for it. I'm glad the game still has those silly moments and that continuity with past games. It makes the tragedy I know will unfold later on that much more poignant.

Speaking of which, it's depressing seeing all the townspeople in Nibelheim knowing they're going to die. Just walking around talking to them, Nibelheim really feels like a lived-in place that Cloud has so many personal connections to.

An NPC asked Cloud if he's seen his mother yet, another one recognized me, and another couple of people noticed me and asked if I'm looking for Tifa. They Know™️

Also, it's really interesting seeing Cloud craft the welcome home he WISHES he had gotten. He wanted to come back to Nibelheim as a hero everyone praised, but the reality was much different. So seeing that contrast is a really good insight into Cloud's psyche and what he wants (praise, recognition, approval, etc.)

Oh found some cats, I'm glad there's another area dedicated to just cats ;aldjf; (complete with photographic evidence):

Awwwwww there was a sweet reference to Tifa leading the exercise classes for Nibelheim from Traces of Two Pasts, and she asks Cloud in the modern day if he was able to keep up with the class (she wasn't teaching this particular one, but I love that bit of continuity).

Tifa you can tell is nostalgic for Nibelheim hearing Cloud's recounting of what happened too, the voice acting and dialogue for this part is all really well-done.

The option to see Cloud's mom was really well-done. Cloud never went back to see her in reality, of course, which means his memory glitches out like crazy during this part: he "hears" his mother talking to him about a conversation that happened at an earlier time, like his brain is desperately trying to create something that never happened and is latching onto the nearest fragments it can find. I like how they translated this scene from the OG game, it gave off eerie vibes.

HE DID THE LIL SHRUG AND NOD LIKE HE DOES IN THE OG GAME if you try to enter his mom's house again after the "memory" is over. Also, it's like his mind is trying to protect itself from delving too deeply into a false memory so glitchy (and maybe he feels a deep level of guilt at not actually going to see her as well), and so you can't go back into his house, just like in the OG game.

You can have Cloud go up the water tower too, and he looks towards Tifa's window THE ANGST OF IT ALL a;lskdfj. I love those little moments of Pining™️

Tifa's like wait you went to my place?? Oh Cloud...you were such an awkward weirdo...

"Our reasons, huh? I bet most of them had to do with you." Barret shading Cloud for why he and Tifa didn't hang out more ;alkdjf again I love the humor in these moments.

Awwww Fluffy got mentioned! Nice to hear her brought up again.

"You went into my room?" I'm dead. Tifa sounds so indignant and rightfully so. It's weirdo behavior Cloud ;laskdfj

"You went through my stuff?!" Not off to a great start buddy, but I had him pick that option because I figured he ought to be honest. Tifa and Aerith both call him an asshole if you admit to doing it too, which made me laugh. And naturally my mind is wondering how this will impact the iconic date later on. Did I just piss both Aerith and Tifa off and lose affection points with both girls? Probably lol (and honestly, Cloud deserved it for that stunt).

Tifa's lil moogle plushie on her bed is adorable. I love the touches like that that make the environment feel more lived in.

Awwww I found Tifa's theme to play on the piano hehe. I love that that's the first piano piece you can find in the game. Just one of my favorite FFVII songs because it fits Tifa so perfectly and has this bittersweet sense of longing as well as this beautiful tenderness to it.

Also, I got a kick out of the piano minigame. The first time I wasn't great at it and got a C. I struggled to do both "hands" at the same time. I did it two more times after that, and it starts to sound really nice when you have a streak of a bunch of correct notes in a row. Like Cloud's going to town on the piano with extra flourishes. If you miss notes again though the metronome comes back on lol like "you still need to practice and get the rhythm down."

The second two times I got an A (I'll have to keep practicing to get a star and see what happens), and the gang praised Cloud, which I thought was cool.

Found more Sephiroth groupies and ran into Zangan in the inn. It was really sweet hearing Zangan praise Tifa so highly. Also, "Cloud" saying, "yeah right" when Zangan says "Tifa will go far" is another good clue Cloud isn't himself. Tifa was offended and Aerith was offended on her behalf. I love how Aerith keeps backing Tifa up on stuff, it's really nice to see more of their friendship.

The photographer dude is back and I love him. And he even says the same thing he said to Zack in Crisis Core about how he can't waste his film on Zack because he doesn't know who he is ;alskdfj. What's a guy got to do to get a little respect?

"You look so different" lol yes I do random villager because I'm not me, and then there are some nice creepy foreshadowing moments from her kids. The girl says, "Gonna beat those monsters?" and the boy says, "Gonna be 'em?"

The irony of the mayor saying he'd brag about Sephiroth visiting Nibelheim till the day he dies:

I still really love Brian Lockhart's design. He's like if the 70s met cowboy fashion, and it just works somehow. And this carries over from the OG game, but his concerns about Tifa's safety are well-founded given what happened when she and Cloud were kids and sets up future reveals in the remake trilogy nicely.

Also, Tifa is so small next to Sephiroth. I love her sass in this part of the story, and this time around there's some country twang banjo version of her theme and I love it. Also Sephiroth shaded the camera guy al;sdkfj;dskf but "Cloud" talked him into it and thus the iconic photo came into being. Again those moments of humor will never not be funny. And I loved how Tifa was being such a good guide and giving info about the area as they started to ascend the mountain.

Also, when you finally get to the title screen, it cracked me up how Nomura is listed first, before Hamaguchi. Probably a seniority/respect thing, but Nomura is the creative director and Hamaguchi is the director.

Also, the version of the main theme that plays as you go up Mt. Nibel is awesome, and once again I had to get a screenshot because this area is just so beautiful:

Tifa wanting to travel is a sweet touch, though Sephiroth is practical and points out that he travels on business trips and not for fun. Of course "Cloud" points out that you do learn stuff on these trips. It's a nice contrast between Tifa's naive optimism, Sephiroth's jaded world-weary outlook, and Zack's positivity tempered by experience.

Also, Sephiroth's hair is very swishy. I thought that needed a note as I was playing this. Props to the artists, animators, etc. who rendered it.

I chuckled at Tifa racing up the mountain and teasing "Cloud" and Sephiroth about whether or not they can keep up. Just shows a fun, playful side to her personality and also shows how eager she is to prove herself. And then she dropkicked a monster to protect "Cloud" and then teased him about it alks;jfdsf. She's so much snarkier with Zack than she is with Cloud, and it's an interesting contrast.

The real Cloud of course is in the background, protecting Tifa from danger. Even in his rewritten version of history, the real him is lurking in his subconscious protecting her because she's that important to him. She thanked him so sweetly when he did too.

I made a note about seeing the bridge that collapsed with Cloud and Tifa on it when they were kids, man all the little details like this and the foreshadowing is just A+.

Tifa has Trauma™️ from falling off a bridge before, hmmm, wonder what that's from, and she's still like hey I'm the guide I'll lead us a;ldkfj when "Cloud" offers to go first lol.

Still holds true years later but wooooow Nibelheim sucks at constructing good bridges lol. It was a wholesome moment where "Cloud"/Zack grabbed Cloud and kept him from drowning though, and Sephiroth was able to grab Tifa (which is ironic considering how he tries to kill her not much later, and it's sad because it really shows he was a good guy). Of course the other security officer probably drowned rip, poor guy.

YAY SEPHIROTH'S IN MY PARTY FINALLY

"For your performance review" lol I like Sephiroth's sass and how he teases "Cloud" like this.

I just obliterate everything playing as Sephiroth ;alsdkfj and truly love playing as him. And him slamming his own dad will never not be funny, I mean Hojo just really sucks.

At this point I started focusing more on playing the game since there were more monsters to fight etc., but I still got some nice screenshots and had a few more thoughts.

The Mako spring just looks incredible, so I had to include a photo:

The scenery by the ocean was gorgeous too, I can't wait to go to Costa del Sol:

The real Cloud helping Tifa get to safety from the monster and "Cloud"/Zack and Sephiroth being bros is top-tier content. Also Sephiroth looks like a model in pretty much every shot he's in:

Oh the dramatic irony of Tifa not knowing it's Cloud and him refusing to talk and her being sassy and telling him, "You better keep me safe" and then of course he does. The music is creepy now that we're about to enter the reactor lol, of course it is.

"Would it kill this guy to say something" he would die from embarrassment and shame, yes:

"The company really needs to be more transparent" that's the understatement of the year "Cloud" ;lakfj;asdf

Cool use of JENOVA'S theme. I always enjoy hearing that theme and how otherworldy but also very 90s it sounds.

Zangan's comment here is gold, I love the bee in his bonnet bit:

The Shinra basement stuff was genuinely creepy l;kasjdf like I know what happens and I was still freaked out! The atmosphere was just really well done.

"I should go. Mother is waiting." There it is, the iconic meme line a;ldal;skdjf;lsdjf it just kills me, Sephiroth is such a psycho.

Loved seeing Zangan helping people get out of the town and telling "Cloud" to get in there and help, but of course the situation is still incredibly dire by the time "Cloud" gets there.

This shot in front of the water tower was gorgeous and really haunting, especially when the water tower collapsed. Just the symbolism with that, the loss of Cloud and Tifa's special place and how not long after this, he feels like he failed her and failed to keep his promise:

Main Scenario: Check on Mom. Oh Cloud...

And then you see the real Cloud collapsed in front of his house and calling for his mom, this is so depressing:

This is where the more realistic graphics really serve the story well, because it makes this moment that much more of a gut punch, especially when he hears his mother begging him to live. The last few moments before her soul returns to the planet perhaps, trying to save her son from danger one last time.

And now that "Cloud" is hurt, he looks busted up even in the menu. I thought that was a cool detail to include.

It's like Cloud's memories are trying to right themselves because he winds up on the ground like where he was supposed to be. When Sephiroth murdered the man who tried to help him and then went on his creepy murder spree of several other villagers culminating with the mayor, that was all really well done too. Horrifying because there's nothing Cloud can do to stop the senseless murder of people he's known all his life, and it really shows how cold and ruthless Sephiroth has become.

was it ever explained how Sephiroth’s wing happened? Like was that a Jenova thing or…? Because I know it happened to Genesis and Angeal too but I’m not sure if it was because of Jenova’s influence or just a physical byproduct of having her cells

It seems to be a physical side effect of those who have Jenova cells closely integrated into their genetic structure.

Sephiroth's wing canonically doesn't manifest until Advent Children though. But confusingly, it's present throughout the events of Rebirth. And yeah, Rebirth's placement on the official timeline is wonky af because of the multiverse nonsense, but the idea I'm getting here is that he always had it and they're retconning it into existence before AC lol.

Either way, I'm chalking the wing up to relating to those who were involved in the Jenova Project. You don't see Zack or Cloud with wings. Though know knows? Maybe they'll retcon that in too lol.

Thoughts, and some pointers on potential improvements:

Desert Rush's timing's a lot less frustrating than it was in the box breaker from Intermission. No notes. Keep up the good work.

2. G-bike gravity's a little wonky, but it's still quite fun.

Suggestion: More levels, possibly bring back the tunnel and highway chase sequences from Remake, with less emphasis on the artificiality / VR aspect.

3. Fort Condor. This one's a step back from its Remake incarnation.

Suggestion: Make Fort Condor fully turn-based and bring back customization. It would be a major improvement over the poorly-designed, memorization-based RTS boondoggle that it is right now.

4. Crunch-off. Why would you put a minigame that literally everyone hated back into the sequel, but also make it slightly worse?

Suggestion: Delete it, and let us never speak of it again.

I held back on posting these design references for future fan art for a while for some reason, in my head I was like 'no I need to fix SOMETHING.' I guess this is kind of an AU plus some of my own theories and interpretations, the Audrey design is based on an alternative universe where Audrey resets the cycle but it glitches or something causing some things to be reset but not everything (ex; she unmerged from the Ink Demon but still has some traits from the merge, as well as her leg that wasn't effected was gone) and essentially she'll have to run through again to try and reset everything properly since everything is like wonky and screwed up now as for Susie's sheep horns; I don't know, I just liked them, I concepted that they were scripted onto her rebirth at some point by Joey 'just to see what would happen' or something and then she HATED them because they weren't 100% true to the Alice Angel character

Thoughts on the "solved" Zelda timeline

TLDR: Not everything needs to make sence if you're having fun :}

Don't get me wrong, I understand the fandom's undying need to "make everything make sence" and "solve everything". When it comes to something with lore as expansive as Zelda, I just feel like there are always gonna be loose ends and pieces that don't fit as flawlessly as we'd want them to.

My take on the timeline is pretty symilar to the one depicted below. It's around a year old and doesn't have EoW encorporated yet, but that's past my point.

What I'm trying to say is that we don't really need to force the events of BotW and TotK into the old timeline. In the Zelda universe, two timelines happening paralel to one another is clearly possible, as seen with the different outcomes of OoT.

I think it also fits well with the ouroboros theme. If you're not familiar, the ouroboros is a symbol depicted as a snake or a dragon eating it's tail. It usually means an eternal cycle, rebirth or infinity.

Most fans agree that that's what we see in the TotK logo. This of course makes sence, if only because of Demise's curse. And In my opinion, the whole timeline literally repeating itself only adds to this symbolism, making the new paralel timelines more likely.

What fans usually have an issue with, is the unification of Child, Adult and the Downfall timeline. BotW and TotK have elements of each of these timelines, but we don't really see any events that would ultimately lead to the timelines coming back together.

That brings me to my second point. Do we really need everything to fit perfectly? Do we need everything to make perfect sence and to be canonicaly established?

As I've said, there practically isn't a way for every single piece of lore and story to fit perfectly together. And Nintendo knows that. That's why we haven't really gotten a canon placement of BotW and TotK on the timeline, other than it taking place in very far future. Nintendo just doesn't want to risk the timelines and different events contradicting each other.

But in my opinion, not being able to make every single detail fit perfectly, doesn't make the timeline broken. It's a game series. Not everything needs to be solved and make perfect sence.

I'd even argue that not knowing everything and leaving room for headcanons and theories is better, if only for the fandom creators. Rather then Nintendo trying to explain every single detail, I'd much rather be able to theorize and come up with my own takes on things.

In conclusion... Being in such a huge and complicated fandom means having to accept that not everything in the story will have a direct reasoning and that sometimes, things are just bound to get a little wonky and contradict each other.

But you know what? I personally think that that's one of the fun parts of any complicated lore and I wouldn't want it any other way :}
