persona 5 and Danganronpa fan here!! im so fucking mad at how kodaka handled fubuki.

her backstory (in her ftes), character motivation, and even eng va are the same as haru okumura p5, who’s trapped in an impending abusive marriage and uses fantastical stories and tales of justice as escapism, only apparently Kodaka thinks that’s stupid and haru is just really dumb and stupid and only good for her boobs so he made fubuki “born sexy yesterday”.

this isnt even the first time hes done this!! leons execution is just the first victim of p4’s body discovery!!!! mondo is ripoff kanji tatsumi (still my fave anyway tho)!!! but it just feels so malicious this time and i HATE IT

i haven't played any of the persona games, but from what i know, the female characters are actually given their own perspectives. the main problem with fubuki for me (besides her ridiculously ott sexualisation) is that she doesn't seem to have any actual character or motivations. she has an ill-defined interest in "adventuring," and is naïve to the point of farce, but doesn't really have anything beyond that. what does she struggle with? what does she want to achieve?

she doesn't really show any emotions, placidly moving through the game and accepting whatever insane situation she's in. the craziest to me is her just getting a job after the submarine blows up, and seeming to accept everyone's deaths right away. what made her like this? did her family punish outward emotion? has she seen a lot of death? does she think she could have prevented the agency's supposed deaths? there are so many times you think she might be interesting but really she just has whatever perspective provides the least friction to the objective yuma currently has. this being said, i haven't done the gumshoe gab or dlc yet so maybe this will be improved, but i still feel i have a more solid grasp on vivia and halara's characters despite having barely any backstory for them, and characters should ideally be developed in the main game as opposed to optional side content.

i do think that kodaka (and society at large) has a real problem with fetishizing female youth and inexperience, as they make women and girls easier to manipulate. and so "attractive" female side characters tend to be young, naïve, and possess opinions that don't conflict with the male main character's, at least not to any real extent. they can bicker with him, they can call him names, but they can't actually act against him or on their own. halara and desuhiko investigate on their own, with their own aims (no matter how stupid and gross in desuhiko's case), and yakou and vivia [do what they do, in case people are reading this before finishing chapter 4]. but fubuki always stands next to yuma, just repeating back to him everything he says. given that one of the key points of fubuki's chapter is cooperation with the resistance, a topic on which the majority of kanai ward is highly opinionated, it's really strange to me that she doesn't really have a view on it. this is a problem i have with kurumi and shinigami too, they exist to tell yuma that he's doing the right thing, even when he obviously isn't.

i think, conceptually, fubuki is a great character. the fact that she seems to blame herself for deaths she couldn't prevent, especially [redacted]'s in chapter 4, is so interesting. the physical toll her ability takes on her when she uses it means she is constantly choosing between herself and others, who she can save and how much damage she has to do to herself to do so. i think it would be better if she suffered some kind of permanent effect from overuse of her ability, like illness, or scarring, or slow loss of some physical ability (although i don't really trust kodaka to write a disabled character lmao). in my opinion, this should kick in during case four, where she tries to use her ability repeatedly to save [redacted]. then she could struggle with the fact that doing so was kind of useless, that [redacted] was already going to die, and that her short-term intervention could never have saved them. she could be mad at them for whatever consequence she suffered, mad at herself for even thinking that, and mad at everyone that led to what happened in case four. there's so much potential she has and i am so mad it got squandered in favour of yuma, the world's plainest slice of white bread.

also, on the topic of mondo specifically, as a jojo fan, i always thought he was a rip-off of a bunch of elements of part 4 of that manga. specifically him having a similar hairstyle to josuke (the protagonist), talking in a similarly aggressive way to okuyasu (the protagonist's friend and ally) (at least for his first few appearances), and his biker gang being called the "crazy diamonds", literally the name of josuke's stand ability. good to know kodaka ripped off yet another property in making this one character lmao

I loved it a lot!!!!! As I suspected, the addition of skits really expanded my affection for the characters, but I also rather enjoyed the changes they made. I honestly can't remember what exactly comparatively was different all around, but the changes to the depiction of Leon's final moments got me really hard,,,, idk if it was more similar in the original jp since I played the official English release of Destiny (I hear there were skits in jp? that might've helped my understanding lol) but I really really liked the director's cut take on things.

I also actually liked that we didn't have to see him come back as like. a raised husk or whatever it was og Destiny did bc even tho his fate seemed definite, it's still ambiguous. I haven't played the sequel obviously but I think?? the Leon looking guy is actually Leon???? idk. maybe it's a bit of a retcon. but yk

Anyway I actually liked every character quite a bit this time!! I liked my fav characters even more (coughcough Stahn and Leon living in my brain now) bc the extra conversations and voice acting were fantastic ✨✨ It really helped the emotions hit for me. I don't remember it all super well since I took so long to play it but I was a giggly little bastard abt the relationships and got a little teary at parts.

Cried at the end despite it all,, Stahn finally finished writing a letter like he was attempting for his family and it was for Leon ;w; That plus just. Tales credits. got me just a liiiittle teary lol. I liked it soso much. Also the reunion at the end made way more sense to me this time around lsjfd;lk just bc of some added dialogue and whatnot

The final boss is kinda meh as a character honestly but the overall story despite that guy was awesome!! I have a lot of fondness for the character arcs of Stahn, Leon, and Rutee, and also just the overall party dynamic was quite fun :3 Silly little creatures, the lot of them.

I missed having anime cutscenes after playing Destiny ps1 alksdjl; so they definitely got me there even tho they really only had character ones at the beginning and the end. But it's not like they do too many of those anyway.

Briefly on the character designs: they're goofy. I can't deny they're goofy. I love them sm they're unique lolol I'm attached to them

Oh yeah I LOVED the tie in to the title lol it was heavy handed as hell and it was perfect.

Bouncing back to what I said abt og Destiny, the dungeon designs were still kinda interesting here and there but less cool than the original, however the combat was definitely some of the best in the series. It's a serious learning curve but very fun!!! It was fun to see how they adapted the puzzles as well; a lot of them were similar but the final dungeon was way different. Hated the mirror area way way more than in og Destiny laskjdfkl;dsj I got stuck for a while but I do like the split party collaborative puzzles!! I remember Abyss did the same sort of thing an I liked that quite a bit, so it had that factor going for it too.

Umm final gist is it was really really fun and even tho it was actually pretty hard for me a lot of the time, but I think to a point that made it still fun. Except the 3-ish hours I spent on the final boss goddamn.

In any case, this definitely bumped up into the favorites!!!!! Stahn is an especially endearing protagonist to me and his relationship with the party was fun to watch develop <3

I finished re4r awhile ago and it was FANTASTIC.

I feel they really did the original justice. I enjoyed the QOL improvements that were made. Having your knife being able to parry is awesome and very satisfying. It's quite the game changer! The fact that you can use it even against one hit kill bosses like dr. salvador is so neat! While I don't like stealth typically, it's a welcome addition since the game doesn't force it on you. Having the option to pick off a few enemies silently is nice although I feel doing this made little difference in terms of making taking down the rest of the enemies easier tbh. Being able to simply kick and elbow barrels and crates instead of painstakingly having to shoot or knife them is probably an afterthought for others but i highly appreciated this. Crafting ammo and grenades is new feature that saved my ass a few times so needless to say love it lol. And next up the biggest change in the game, you can move and shoot now! Lol. Something I never quite got use to however was the 180 degree turn. In old RE, it was down + x (on ps at least). Now it's down + R1, which feels very unnatural to me. I dealt with it but eh, not very comfortable with this change. Leon overall controls pretty well despite this. I love that you can change weapons on the fly now instead of always having to go into the attache case. I do kinda miss seeing Leon on the side in the attache case menu lol. The merchant returns! With a nice little bonus, side quests! They are completely optional but doing them can net you extra rewards. The shooting range is back and I LOVE that they used 'The Drive' song and remixed it! Especially the way it amps up during bonus time, ugh so good. The fucking nostalgia man. Going on to story and characters now. I love that Ashley feels like an actual character and more realistic this time around. Her redesign is rly cute too. Luis being more present and fleshed out was great too. I have to say I think I actually prefer how his death was handled in the remake. It felt more emotional and impactful. Ok so with Leon. First off, I admittedly am always nervous with how characters are going to look because I'm not always crazy with how capcom handles redesigns and characters' faces. But holy crap, LEON THO. Every version of Leon can get it but Re4 Leon is my fave Leon so needless to say when I saw him for the first time in that reveal trailer, Me = deceased. He looks so goddamn good. I thought I had it bad for him back then, nah. Now, I'm fucking embarrassingly OBSESSED with this man. I want to devour him. It was hard to not stop every two seconds when playing to admire his....assets lmaooo. I think some ppl didn't like that he seems more grounded this time around but I actually don't mind it at all. They found a nice middle ground where Leon is def more serious than before but he still throws out one liners here and there. So his corny side is still very much present but he doesn't seem as cocky as before. Ada looks great and is as mysterious as ever lol. Story beats were mostly the same, a few things tweaked of course but I was satisfied with how the narrative was handled. And omg, was so nice to see certain costumes and weapons plus easter eggs make a comeback! The freaking gangster suit, armor for Ashely, the chicago typewriter and the reload animation, him sitting down on the chair and posing fabulously, etc. I'm just so over the moon for this game. It's one of my favorite games of all time and I couldn't be happier with the end result. I remember hearing when this was getting a remake and being like but why? Re4 doesn't need a remake. But now having played it, it's so well done and I'm so glad Capcom didn't screw it up lol. It was a blast reliving this masterpiece all over again 🥲.

Sorry anyway a SERIOUS answer: I would get along with Celestia probably, my only evidence is because my irl best friend is the sluttier version of Celestia (not clothing wise but personality wise). Though, I don't think I'd actively seek out Celestia. I do think I would get along with Hagakure. And if I DON'T try to fuck Togami I think we might get along? My boyfriend says we would. Honestly I act like him so I think he'd be impressed by me... I hope.

Shuichi: 6.5/10 After those two disasters I am glad to see someone at least decent. The color palette doesn’t suit him that much, but I can respect it.

Kiyo: 10/10 The guy is so classy it hurts. I don’t even know if that’s a skirt or pants but either way I love it. This outfit just suits him 100%.

Ryoma: 3/10 What the fuck is this. What. What is this. This hat reaches Touhou levels of ridiculousness. It’s horrible. The outfit is kinda better than whatever some of them have going on but holy shit the hat ruins everything for me.

Kaito: 9/10 The coat is fantastic. Black with tiny moons and stars + a space interior? That’s beyond perfect. Outfit is nice, although I would have liked a different color for the vest and the pants.

Kaede: 8/10 It’s simple and effective. I really like the flowers but still, I can’t get used to Kaede’s haircut. At this this one has cute flowers and ribbons.

Miu: 8.5/10 Now you would think that with what Mikan got, Miu would get something super revealing, but this is surprisingly not the case. It’s very original and it suits her a lot, especially the huge sleeves.

Tsumugi: 7/10 The dress is nice, but that’s pretty much it. I like how she tied her hair, it does look nice. Also those shoes are weird tbh

Tenko: 9/10 I was wrong. This is, in fact, a mini-short. She looks so classy and I love the new placement of the hairpin. She looks a lot like a talentswap Magician!Tenko and I love it. So classy. Very good.

Kirumi: 10/10 That’s peak fancy. I just. I love. her. She’s so fucking great like the elegance, the classiness, everything is perfect. I believe in Kirumi supremacy.

Maki: 3/10 I’m sorry I hate this dress. It had good potentiel but the color palette irks me. No. I can’t. Hair looks nice tho.

Himiko: 8/10 It’s just so damn cute. Idk if the space theme is a reference to her beta design but either way, I love it.

im developing a lot of aus including the reverse au which is currently only available for rose, but leon also has it developed, i just forgot to put it in the verses page for him haha but wow im developing a reverse verse for a chara i dont have??? i might as well throw damos on the blog and be the only person in the pkmn rpc who plays him LMAO i cant help falling for obscure characters but i think he might have a better chance in getting interactions than my etrian odyssey muses but no if anyone wants to do damos,,,,you can hmu 😳😳 i cant reply it or see it if you do tho LMAOO

anyway reverse!damos here who goes by lazarus (meaning: my god has aided me) is not a nice farmer unlike his normal verse, instead being akin to a mercenary, but he kinda fills in the role of marcus - he has the ability to manipulate the hearts of pokemon, even legendaries and because of this, he’s been fiddling with legendaries and experimenting with things to try something out - and while reverse!arceus has been severely weakened from an intense fight or a meteorite too (im still figuring it out) and lost its life plates, lazarus finds it. it’s on the brink of dying, and instead of returning the plates like a nice person, lazarus only thinks of profit and benefitting himself - because it’s so vulnerable, it manipulates reverse!phae into summoning the lake guardians, where it promptly fights them and steals their gems before kicking them into the dirt. then he uses said gems to restraint and fully take control of reverse!phae before inserting the plates back into it, saying it will only get them back if it corporates. yes, lazarus literally pulls a cyrus being the first one to actually create a draft of the red chains to have arceus under its command. one of cyrus’ pc posts is “According to myths, the Pokémon created Sinnoh with its power. However, capturing the Pokémon with a Poké Ball prevents it from using its full power... But with the Red Chain, the Pokémon can be shackled, and its power can be used without restraint...” and he’s implying arceus with the first mention of pokemon, so maybe the red chains can be used on god??? i dont see why not, although the lake guardian was made more to check the creation trio than god itself, but why wouldn’t you have checks against god? “The Pokémon of the lakes and Mt. Coronet are somehow connected. Capturing the Pokémon of the lakes will free the Pokémon of Mt. Coronet. From the Pokémon of the lakes, crystals can be extracted to create a Red Chain.” i know he implies the creation trio with pkmn of mt. coronet but technically arceus lives in mt. coronet as the hall of origins can be summoned there LEMME HAVE THIS - 

originally i was going to have reverse!arceus be a completely neutral god, both in personality and how it handled things - just create life, casually, and just head out and do nothing for them - “the humans can handle their planet however they wish to. if they destroy it, they destroy it.” and i was trying to redesign it and it kept coming up as punk (more below because this is a long ass post)

so i was like, aight i guess i’ll go with what my heart wants but something still didnt feel right, because punk is an expression more than just a simple fashion statement - it was created to rebel against those who tried to hold you down and mold you into who they wanted you to be. to defy the shitty standards of what’s supposedly normal. and then it all clicked when i looked at this vid 

ive heard the music itself and one of my favs, but not the music video so i kinda just exploded with ideas and it really completed the punk i wanted to go with - funny thing, im a bad character designer so i scrapped the punk look and pulled a unique thing with phae’s case - legendaries and mythics are statements of unchanging, fixated ways while normal, evolvable pokemon are statements of improvement and change - growth, which is something phae is completely jealous of. gods don’t evolve; they don’t change. so i thought, why not keep its original look (i love it too much anyway and i cant think of anything better tbh for phae) to reflect that aspect but have the way it governs and behaves different? normal!phae and reverse!phae are still similar but opposite - normal being the kind, caring god and reverse being the relentless, uncaring god. both are the two most popular aspects and themes of gods and how they treat those beneath them, so i thought it worked.

reverse!phae never wanted to be a god. it’s immature and uncaring on purpose to get the attention of the creator of the original one itself; to be a sign of rebel, to show that it was its own character and no one can morph it into what they want it to be. it revels in its creations screaming in pain, as nothing else entertains it so and because it empathizes with them. it sends the world into pure chaos a majority of time so no one enjoys living. seeing its creations, both human and pokemon, excel in the trials and tribulations of this hell; seeing them perform so expertly under extreme stress, how humans and pokemon can come together and defeat anythin - and rebelling in their own right and way give reverse!phae so much hope and relief. that it’ll be able to do the same. and once reverse!phae does get its creators attention, you bet it’s gonna be very angry on why it exists. it might even try to murk its creator. it’s more of a “i didn’t ask to be born so i’m gonna make it your problem” type of person, and a god prone to violence - often fighting with its own creations, like even the lake trio and the creation trio. but it checks them all every time, and it’s so hungry for an actual fight that reverse!phae can actually work for and struggle for and feel like it actually won. and that’s when lazarus comes in. that’s where lazarus comes in.

how much it hates lazarus. how much it hates lazarus. it hates everyone, but lazarus has a special kind of hatred reserved just for him. in fact, hatred isn’t the proper word to explain the intense, raw, unfiltered feelings reverse!phae has for him. on one hand, it absolutely respects the honest work he puts in to further himself, but on the other hand, being the one on the receiving end of his malicious intentions is never ideal. it has no interest in whatever petty crimes he wants to commit, but trying to take god and become it yourself? completely admirable. a fantastic way to rebel, but having to have someone chain you down and control you? reverse!phae’s worst nightmare. i’ll get into that later since this is already long enough god help me

is reverse!phae messed up? yes, severely. that’s kinda what happens when you rot alone in the depths of dark space for eons. no human nor pokemon - no, no living being can ever handle that. both normal! and reverse!phae have the same backstory, but different reactions to it. reverse!phae wants everyone to scream and lash out, it wants everyone to rebel against their origins and become their own people, even with the immense baggage on their shoulders. it wants everyone to risk death to accomplish their dreams. it laughs in everyone's faces before spitting in them. i think reverse!phae will be one of my most violent takes on a muse, if not, my most since it is god and the shit it talks can easily be proven right. it constantly berates and breaks people down into pieces. no one understands it. it hates everyone and everything it sees. it doesn’t need love and kindness, it just needs a body to break. which is untrue, because obviously its yearning for love and kindness - something its never experienced - and it’s lashing out for attention. secretly hoping someone will just hug it and all its problems away. that everything will be okay in the grand scheme of things. that it won’t have to have the unlimited stress of being a god anymore.

usually when i put my touch on muses, canon or not, they’re primarily good people with hearts of gold. even with ones less so, they’re not as intense as this. so working with that kind of character is thrilling and i’m excited to see if i can get anyone interested with it lmao- reverse!phae’s name might be nou or chali, what would be better? sorry this was such a long post!! i’ve been working on this since last night and it’s been really fun to develop like this again - i only get this kind of productive with my hyperfixations, so they’re both a blessing and a curse -  i think this is everything i have rn for the reverse au but ii’ll be going back into it

Leon felt his stomach tying in knots as he walked towards Sayaka's room. Her note had been clear- she had wanted him to visit her room for something, but for what? Especially at 9 'o clock at night. He swallowed. Maybe she was asking for help with homework? No, his grades were definitely lower than hers. Maybe she wanted to help him with his..? Why would she want to do that in the first place? He had no idea what she wanted, but he felt the pit in his stomach grow deeper as he knocked on her dorm door. He fixed his appearance a little (the most a kid in his pajamas could) before the door opened, and revealed a familiar face.

Sayaka already had a smile on her face as she peeked through the crack in the door. "Hello, Leon," she greeted, her sweet voice breaking through his worrisome thoughts, "I assume you read my note?" He nodded, feeling soothed by her voice. "I'm sorry for calling you to come out so late, but my schedule is pretty busy for the next few days, so I wanted to do this before then," Sayaka said, twisting her long, blue hair in her fingers. "Wait, I don't know what you're talking about," Leon admitted. Sayaka blinked, and flushed pink. "I guess I forgot to specify that in my note," she mumbled apologetically. He assured her it was okay, and again asked what she had needed.

"I wanted to give you those vocal lessons I had offered! Again, I'm really busy this week, so I wanted to at least have our first one before that," she explained. The fact that she was trying to do this for him (even though she definitely had better things to do) made Leon's heart skip a beat. He tried to seem nonchalant, "oh, yeah! Are you sure you wanna do it now? I don't want you to fall asleep while recording or whatever tomorrow, 'cause you wanted to do something nice for me." Sayaka giggled, "don't worry so much. One night out of my schedule won't hurt me."

She sat down on her plush bed, while Leon sat down on the ground, cross legged. He didn't want to push his boundaries. The only reason she even knew he existed was because she overheard him talking to Makoto about wanting to get into the music scene. Other than that, be really didn't know much about her, besides stuff that everyone knew, her being a pop star and all. But, he still felt drawn to her, even before she had offered to help him out. He snapped out of his thoughts when she said, "now, before we start actually singing, let's practice our scales first."

Leon had never been so embarrassed in his life. Thank god for the dormitory's sound proof walls, because he thought he sounded terrible. When he had tried singing Sayaka's sample songs, his voice cracked so much and he just wanted to stop. But Sayaka, she was so patient. Judgement never even seemed to cross her mind, as she kept a calm smile on her face. "You're doing fantastic! I think you're doing better than when I first started," she said. "How old were you when you first started, 6?" Leon asked, as Sayaka chuckled nervously. "Still, your first time trying to sing seriously is not gonna be perfect, just like anything you do," she reassured, "were you perfect at baseball when you first started?" Leon thought back to the little black haired kid who became a baseball legend. "Ehhh, kinda," he said, hoping he didn't sound big headed. It's not like he even really liked baseball that much, so it wasn't something he was super proud of in the first place.

Sayaka blinked in surprise, and giggled, "ok, not the best example, but most of the time you won't be excellent at something you first try." She started the music again, as Leon internally groaned. "Don't worry, I'll sing with you, if it makes you feel better," she winked at him while saying so. He nodded, and started to sing to her music. She joined him in sync. She sounded angelic, even though he had heard her songs thousands of times on the radio, there was something different hearing her in person. Her melodic voice carried so well, even over his own singing. She seemed so happy while doing it as well. Her smile lit up the room, and he felt his heart race.

He noticed she stopped, when she asked "Are you alright?" "Huh? What do you mean?" He asked, only remembering her singing. "You stopped singing, I was wondering if you were okay," she said, nervously. "Oh! Uh, yeah I'm good! I'm just kinda tired, its like," he checked his phone, 10:53, "oh, it's really late, we should head to bed." "Oh yes, I guess we should," she said (almost sadly?? Probably not). "I had a lot of fun, I almost never sing just to do it!" He got up, and helped her stand as well. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow, huh?" He said, more like a question. "Of course, we both live here after all," Sayaka said matter-of-factly. Leon blushed and agreed. She waved as he walked out of her room, and back to his. He leaned against the door, and felt his hand over his heart. "Dammit," he cursed, "I just met her, there's no way I'm this soft, am I?"

Yes, there was a way.

After having played the game, here are my thoughts on Sword and Shield. (SPOILERS)

RIVALS You’re stuck with yet another annoyingly happy friendly rival, though he does experience some character growth and becomes the most challenging of your three rivals. Bede and Marnie, while both better rivals characteristically, one a jerk who pulls a Vegeta and literally refers to himself as a “Super Elite” at one point, and the other how a friendly rival should be done, “I don’t hate you, but we’re rivals, not friends, and I’m gonna keep coming at you till I win” kind of deal, are sadly both are made easy by the fact that they’re mono-type users. Bede Psychic and Marnie Dark. VILLAIN TEAM Team Yell amounts to nothing. They are exactly as advertised. A bunch of hardcore Marnie fans from Marnie’s home town. Its Team Skull without the conspiracy. Chairman Rose’s, (The actual villain) plan makes no sense. He wants to awaken Eternatus, which causes Pokemon across the region to spontaneously dynamax, causing untold damage to the region and its people. He wants to do this because it will somehow solve an energy crisis Galar is not currently facing and won’t face for another 1000 years. How this works is never explained. His battle theme was awesome tho, it straight up sounded like something out of Final Fantasy. At times it felt like they were trying to comment on global warming. “Taking action today to solve a problem tomorrow”, but it framed it as a bad thing.

DIFFICULTY These games are more difficult than X/Y, but slightly less difficult than US/UM The gym leaders are finally free of their “3 Pokemon with only 3 moves” thing that plagued Kalos, but they’re not exactly “wall” difficult. There is no Whitney. They’re not rocking type-coverage moves or anything.

Hop is the only trainer to present you with any real challenge throughout the game, mainly because he changes his team up every now n then, even adding a surprise Snorlax out of nowhere.

I personally didn’t have any trouble taking down Leon, but I’ve seen him nearly wipe some people so idk. Regardless, his battle was really hype because he’s built up throughout the game as being unbeatable. He’s not a total pushover, but he’s probably the weakest champion to date.

MISSING MOVES You’re not going to miss any of the removed moves  and not as many have been removed as that list that was floating around was claiming.  GameFreak trimmed the fat.

QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE META GAME As far as breeding, raising Pokemon, etc for competitive goes? this is hands down the best Pokemon game to date. If you’re playing Pokemon solely for the meta game and you’re not hung up on some Pokemon being gone, then this is going to be the best Pokemon game in your eyes.

Mints let you change a Pokemon’s nature.

Ability capsule is only 50 BP now.

Egg moves don’t require breeding to be learned

Dittos with good IVs can be easily obtained in a specific raid den (I have two 4 IV dittos just chilling)

Move reminder/deleter is one NPC located in every Pokemon center and his services are free. (He’s also the name rater)

IV checker is a feature of the PC after you complete 6 battles in the battle tower in post game. thanks to the remote PC item thing, the PC is accessible from anywhere so you can check IVs where ever and when ever you want

Eggs seem to take less time to hatch now. That, or the wild area is just weird, because thats where I do all my egg hatching.

Hyper training is still a thing, with bottle caps you can boost a level 100 Pokemon’s IVs Getting your Pokemon to level 100 is easy because the game throws rare candies and EXP candies at you. Very easy to amass a bunch. You can also choose to feed as many as possible to the Pokemon at once, so no more one at a time crap.

Speaking of “No more one at a time crap”, you can now max out a Pokemon’s EVs with vitamins, where as in the past you could only use 10 of a vitamin max. It takes 26 to max out an EV. Expensive, but fast. Vitamins can be purchased for their usual price, or bought at battle tower for 2 BP each

PRESENTATION While the story wasn’t great, the presentation was. When they did a cutscene, they DID a cutscene. However this made the fact that there’s no voice acting very jarring. There are points in this game that legitimately feel like they were supposed to have voice acting. Maybe in the next one.

THE MISSING POKEMON I’ll be 100% real here. I didn’t miss them (and some of the Pokemon I use frequently didn’t make it in) And honestly, it shakes up the meta game. Meta game was getting stale for a while now. I just used different Pokemon and honestly found some new favorites because of it. 

MUSIC The music in this game is great. Not every song is a banger, but a lot of them are. All the major battle themes are absolutely fantastic. Sadly you’ll have to wait until post-game to hear the battle theme Toby Fox contributed. Or you can just go to youtube.

THE WILD AREA The wild area is a pretty good chunk of land, but at the same time I hoped it would be bigger. After you beat the Pokemon league, the Pokemon in the wild area all scale up to a minimum level of 60, with some of the raid dens having level 70 Pokemon

MAX RAID BATTLES Surprisingly fun, though the game will give you the absolute most brain dead NPC teammates if you play offline. You have 10 turns to take down the kaiju mon, BUT if it KO’s pokemon on your team 4 times, the raid ends. The “Playing raid battles with NPCs” experience can be summed up like this. “Oh the Pokemon’s barrier only needs 1 more hit to break and that hit will also result in us winning? And the Pokemon only needs to get one more KO to make us fail the raid? And everyone is on low HP and will surely get KO’d in the next attack? Lemme just... Rock polish real quick...” The game doesn’t take type advantage into account when setting you up with NPCs for raids so sometimes you’ll go into a raid against a fire type and the NPCs will all have things that are weak to fire, or just not good against fire. So for the love of god, play raids online with real people if its a high level raid

The game is a solid 7/10 9/10 if you’re in it just for the meta game

Okay, I’m a few months new to the fandom. I was introduced to it by the anime and I’m trying to get my hands on the manga. I’ve seen some panels of manga here on tumblr and regarding your Leon appreciations posts if I remember - if I recalled wrong I apologize - right Leon has worn croptops. Can we just take a second to appreciate that part of his character?

Fear not, my friend! While the official Tokyopop translation is out of print and it’s hard to find the individual volumes at a good price much less the whole collection  and it’s also terribad what the hell were they on when they were translating PSoH like there’s whole parts where they legit just ad-libbed and it made zero sense, the fantastic group @ruthlessnightsscans has an amazing translation on their tumblr here, and they’re also translating the sequel series Shin/Tokyo PSoH (please don’t accidentally start reading that one instead of the original i’ve met more than one person who did bc the names were so similar) as well as the prequel/spin-off Passage-hen and are planning on translating the other prequel/spin-off series coming out right now, the last two for which there’s no word of an official translation. I’m delighted to say we’re in good hands ;)

i’m gonna be real with you tho, i was wracking my brain for a full five minutes thinking about whether or not it was canon for leon to use crop tops or not because on one hand it might very well be but on the OTHER hand he’s also exactly the kind of person who WOULD wear them and so we might have collectively decided in the PSoH hive-mind that he wore them at one point.

So I obviously did what I do best and went through the whole manga.

No dice until volume 4. In his defense, according to the mangaka early!Leon was meant to be a more serious sort of cop with a style like Miami Vice iirc, so he starts off with a suit + t-shirt combo on the first volume, and mellows out to button-downs and very high-waisted jeans paired with t-shirts stuffed in, meaning it’s hard to say if they’re actually crop-tops or not. THEN he starts getting zanier, and in volume 4 we’re rewarded with THIS amazing little combination with a crop-top on top of a button-down!

After this, we start seeing more of those signature Leon Looks™, with weird-ass t-shirts with the sleeves rolled up and jean vests and even more high-waisted pants as well as the occasional leather jacket. The flannels and button-downs occasionally make a return (actually, remind me to one of these days write a full post on leon orcot’s wardrobe bc my boy is really something).

also, not a crop top but look at my disaster bi son!!!!!!!

he has such a weird taste in clothing i love him so much

then FINALLY another crop-top sighting on volume 7!!!!! on the next few pages it looks like another of his tucked-in t-shirts but we know better 

then we get A TRUE ACTUAL CROP TOP SIGHTING right on the first chapter of volume 8, which coincidentally is one of my favourite chapters in the manga (special thanks to @prince-kraehe for the perfect screenshot when i went to the psoh server despairing that i couldn’t remember whether he’d actually worn a crop-top or not)

this crop-top is sadly the last one leon wears in the manga, but also the most memorable. a good end to the crop-top line, i think.

so the game was very fun~ i very much love the pokemon series and i finally got to play it after everyone’s moved on lmao

first things off the story isn’t great but that’s fine. i want to nut on rose’s soft tummy but like... c’mon elon musk delusion lmao. they really should’ve built it ip bc it felt like i saw him like 5 times during the whole game lmao. love oleana as well, she’s generally just very pretty and has the best expressions in game

i do want to kick in hop’s teeth tho. i don’t hate him but hau > hop by a goddamn mile, hop like a lot of rivals is just sooooo annoying. like i’m sure you’ll defs become the champion even though i’ve beaten you every single time we fight and never had a pokemon faint on my side... bitch

also i was neutral on leon and though he was semi-hot but then he came in with the fucking charizard with rock and grass type moves and maybe i hate him now... fucking bullshit i swear to god lmao. still mad that he one shot my dynamaxed drednaw

gym leaders are all stellar and have such great personality (even if most of them don’t feature very heavily in the story... sad).

milo is my husband... nessa is normani and just 100% That Bitch, kabu is kind of a foxy grandpa, bea is weirdly snatched but cool (and also gave me a lot of trouble ugh), opal is a trickster fairy and i love that (also the whole bede pink thing was hilarious, bede is a lil bitch tho), gordie is thicc and kinda not stylish and he’d be a top husband if he didn’t have ugly hair, piers is cool and total tumblr bait and raihan is sooo fucking tall what the fuck. i like his lil chompers and outfit, otherwise he was a pain in the dick and i’m glad i beat his ass

visuals wise the game looks amazing although some areas suck. that winter water-y place looks gross and a lot of environments are just waaaay too small. also there aren’t many stores around the place which is sad, it’s defs a rushed thing. i mean you have a restaurant and they don’t even sell pokemon food? ok then

the fashion in this game is good. i’m just happy to see more and more customisation options and the clothing style in-game is really good (sometimes when it matches my aesthetic lol). some things are waaaaay too expensive tho

the pokemon designs are also really awesome although there are some duds... rillaboom is extremely handsome and i love him and he’s my gentle and kind bara boyfriend (an anthro furry version tho lol) but the other evolutions for all the starters are not great lmao. the final versions are fine but fire bunny is boring and spy lizard is a lil weird (rillaboom gang rise up)

love toxtricity, i love toxel as well. i was gonna get one for my team but i wanted the high voltage version as a dude and i couldn’t get there without running out of patience. i just got snorlax instead and honestly he ended up carrying my team through a lot of things lol

also i wasn’t 100% sure on obstagoon as my aesthetic isn’t really punk rock-y but i like him! it was a big struggle with evolution bc i didn’t really love the first 2 stages but the final is cute. i was gonna replace him with toxtricity but you know how that went lol. he came in clutch tho, the friendship bar prevented him from fainting and then the counter would just instantly knock out the opponent... he’s a crazy bitch and i love him even if he wasn’t the most useful later on lmao

drednaw is also another pokemon i didn’t plan on getting but the type combination was super useful throughout the game... i woudn’t have be able to do a lot of things without her lol. thank u queen...

it’s funny though, i came into the game seeing all the bara versions of these guys as was so dedicated to getting dude versions but then i couldn’t find any dudes... weird. i still like the fact that the team is half female/male tho lol

and just a random joke but i can’t believe that half my team is naive... these bitches kinda dumb! they’re just relaxed and chill in general aside from  drednaw lol

mechanics wise i think dynamaxing is kinda dumb. the first time i did it i was like holy shit and then it became kinda op... not the most fun addition to the series but at least we don’t have to see it ever again lmao. i do think that the animations are great tho but i still hate the fact that only certain pokemon get a special dynamax form... the clownery

the wild area is really cool and i love that i could catch my boy snorlax but seeing the same pokemon over and over again in the grass and the time it takes to actually be able to catch high level pokemon kinda annoyed me. the size of it is great tho. the raid battles are cool as well but tehy’re often very easy. i didn’t play online at all so maybe that’s it but the difficulty is meh

i like pokemon camp a lot but it’s not great. it feels very unfinished and i didn’t want to put in the effort of mashing a for a minute to entertain my pokemon but i’m also one of those people who cares A Lot about my team so i spent a lot of time there as well lol

i want to get the dlc but tbh i don’t think it’ll be that interesting for me? when i finish a pokemon game that experience is dead for me so i don’t think i’ll get it unless it’s super cheap

it’s a pity that the short development time lead to a great but underwhleming game, there’s a lot of love that’s gone into the game and the new mechanics and ideas are fantastic but they’re just not deep enough... pokemon sun/moon remains superior i suppose

Ok so first things first this show is full of unhinged people and Jeff would’ve killed it in any role.

Ideally Chris Allen would be the perfect Byck but like I haven’t seen any work he’s done lately so idk if he’s still doing the theatre thing who knows.

Brosenthal hopped from The Balladeer/Oswald to Zangara to finally landing on Hinckley. He seemed very fitting as Balladeer/Oswald to me but then I needed more males with angel voices and I trust his angel voice the most and Worthy of Your Love is a very important song to me. Brolden would make a fantastic Balladeer/Oswald so he seemed a good fit and Clark has the CHOPS needed for Zangara’s crazy singing and would look amazingingly close to the real Zangara (besides height OOP).

Joey was immediately Booth for me no questions asked as soon as I started thinking about this. HE HAS THE RANGE! Also I like the idea of him and Corey Dorris being partners bc I feel like we’ve only seen them as enemies/adversaries in the musicals they’ve been in together. Also Corey’s voice would kill me as the chilling Proprietor and I really want that to actually happen.

I was stuck on Moore for a bit bc I feel like there are actresses that can fit her persona but not her voice or they fit her voice but not the necessary persona. I also felt stuck bc when I did Assassins I think I got to work with the best Moore ever so my standards are high. Finally Rachael popped in my head and it’s just an incredible fit. Guiteau is incredibly tricky. He was an incredibly odd and frankly scary man. You need to be able to command a room but also have an unhinged energy, as well as decent singing abilities bc Ballad of Guiteau can get a lil wild (tho more for the Balladeer than Guiteau to be fair). I think Jon has the right range and I think after Black Friday we’ll get to see a more unhinged side of Jon that will further validate my decision here. Also I think he played Hamlet and that’s ultimate unhinged. ALSO HE JUST ANNOUNCED LIKE 30 MINUTES AGO HE’S PLAYING MACBETH LET THE MAN BE UNHINGED YAY!

Tbh I’d probably rather have Robert somewhere else singing tenor but have y’all ever noticed that nearly every Starkid man is a tenor? I need to utilize Robert’s bass range it’s such an incredible talent basses are so hard to come by. Also we’ve only really see Robert be very silly and I’m interested in the serious side of him as a performer, and Czolgosz is a very serious character. He’d probably make me cry and I’d say thanks.

I think Lauren would make me cry my eyes out if I ever heard her sing Something Just Broke. My heart raced and I teared up a bit thinking about it and knew I needed it. Also I think Mariah could kill this role but I ultimately went with Lauren.

Assassins is an interesting show when it comes to its ensemble bc they appear so rarely but are so incredibly vital. I think the ensemble of any show has the ability to make a big dent in making or breaking the show, but that goes even further for Assassins. A lot of the female ensemble parts have a higher range, but the 3 gals I picked also have wild ranges so I trust the shit outta them. I think all 6 of them would blend in well to create the different atmospheres they have to portray throughout time, and they’re also so goofy and fun to match the energy in the Ballad Czolgosz and How I Saved Roosevelt. I also think they’re all capable of delivering the heartbreaking and frankly scary nature of Something Just Broke. Generally I also wanna see more of Corey and Brant on stage bc Brant has the voice of a Disney prince and Corey blows my mind with his performance capabilities in TCB live shows. Also Jamie would probably play Emma Goldman and Lauren or Corey (or maybe Brant) could be Billy/Wanna Sip boy lol.

Quan/Silvia/Lewyn/Ethlyn Thoughts, Day Two:

Because I was geeky enough to listen to the voice clips in my car whilst driving to Taco Bell for lunch today.

1) Silvia’s really just spot-on and I do love that her in-game quotes highlight that she’s religious enough to be praying for people. IDK I think they captured her charms.

2) Ethlyn’s fantastic. I think her “I’LL PROTECT YOU!” special-trigger quote is just the best-- one can imagine her frantically bearing down on Quan/Sigurd/whomever, staff in hand. For contrast, listen to Priscilla’s special clips again. Yeah. Anyway, Ethlyn might not actually be Best Mom but the positive-mom vibes are winsome.

3) Quan... one YouTuber commented that he’s speaking so rapidly he seems to be panicking. I kind of like that. My interpretation of Quan for years has been “mouth writes checks that his ass can’t cash” and TBH this version of Quan sounds rather like a man for whom that reality is sinking in. I also like that my headcanon for the differing timbres of the voices of the Senior Lord Trio was pretty accurate. :)

Headcanon compliance: B+ or B but I guess I can work with this. 

4) Lewyn. Wow. Not what I expected. He sounds older, for a start (I’d figured in-game Lewyn was about nineteen when we catch up with him), as though they were shooting down the middle between Gen1 and Gen2 when writing and casting him. My main takeaway-- cemented by lines like his “Only if you’re good” turn-action quote, which stuck with me-- is that if anything I’ve been too, er, nice (?) to Lewyn when writing him of late and the older, harsher version was pretty accurate-- and for both Gens, at that.

(I have seen this Lewyn compared to Owain, but his particular brand of drama is on Leon’s wavelength to me, albeit more calculated. Was not expecting that.)

One thing tho... clearly this bard plays (the lyre, at that), but I expected him to have the pleasant tones of a natural singer. I dunno what this Lewyn will sing like. Jugdral’s Bob Dylan, indeed?

I said years ago he was among the hardest to write. I very much look forward to going back over Lewyn as featured in WIPs and fine-tuning him as needed... and even more to writing Yet More Lewyn. There’s material there, oh yes.
