alright i know lots of folks don’t love the chaos redesign and some folks are saying they look like meg which like i get, esp with the singular wing but to me? they look like Nyx. they look like they molded their new appearance in the image of their daughter, who they’ve recently reconnected with after aeons of separation. like they have not just emotionally become more the parent of Nyx, but physically mirrored this parenthood, this embodied connection, by choice

(this relationship which they’ve now lost, leaving them alone, again)

(until a certain princess of the dead arrives)

#hades 2 #hades early access #hades 2 spoilers #listennnnnn it’s about the STORYTELLING #like i do prefer the aesthetic of the first chaos design but #i think the second one has much more interesting visual storytelling #not just that they remind me of nyx more #but holding their dead former image that’s also growing (?) a fetus #literally holding both past and present in the palm of their hands #like this design really emphasizes that whole chronos may be the titan of time #godly domains aren’t necessarily singular #and chaos #is timeLESS #they are beyond the bounds of reality that chronos exists by #this is also super interesting to connect with melinoë #bc they’re some in game dialogue from hecate and even chronos himself #talk about melinoës ability to resist chrono’s time control #as likely a recessive gene sort of deal #and they don’t say it explicitly but like! chaos is the originator of all life! it could be from chaos!!#this doesn’t even get into chaos’s whole plot line with the fates but that’s kind of late game and also i haven’t finished it yet lol #(though I don’t think it’s a complete plot like yet idk)#ANYWAY #love this game love supergiant

Honestly though, as much as I'm annoyed that Carlos didn't appear or at least get mentioned in Beyond the Isle of The Lost and what he is doing after D3 while his friends do appear and mention what they doing, I still will take it over The Royal Wedding and their mention of him, aka implying he's dead, because that's still more disrespectful then not mentioning him at all. At the very least that one is clearly Melissa not knowing how to handle the situation with Carlos and therefore, deciding to not touch on it while Royal Wedding felt the need to do so so they could be fine with themselves when deciding to drag Disney Descendants out beyond three films.

i spend a lot of time thinking about the empty space between jim and bones at spock's funeral

#the empty space is spock. obviously.#with hindsight it's hard to say if the distance jim and bones have put between themselves is more or less tragic #knowing that spock is there in both ways: physically in his casket and spiritually in bones himself. but human perception of death only #accounts for the physical. the idea of a soul being unequivocally present in that moment is one that neither of them really believes in #(jim and bones are both written at least vaguely christian. god and the eternal soul are certainly in their belief systems but neither #of them are deeply religious within canon especially when compared to other characters such as the bajorans in tng/ds9)#have they parted because spock should be there in the center despite how often bones and spock would make jim their fulcrum #or have they parted because passing that threshold is too painful without one of them there. a missing limb with phantom pangs.#they could both survive without spock but i always wonder to what degree; 'how do you feel' 'i feel young'#and a few years later it's spock and bones who must survive without jim #never knowing that he hadn't died but continued on in the nexus until it's too late #and we never know if bones ever learns that jim survived and later dies doing what he always does: serving the greater good #but we do know that spock outlives them both. he survives without either of them for so long. he never marries.#and then he sends himself on a suicide mission -- to serve the greater good.#ultimately to end up in another universe where he sees the two of them again: young and healthy and so full of life #and once again he dies before either of them.#tos #the wrath of khan #mcspirk #triumvirate #triposting

Today, Fourteen made Martha Smith-Jones literally call her husband to tell him that he was actually rather bummed Mickey didn’t come with her and August to visit for the weekend. When asked to repeat themselves because Mickey did not believe her, they became predictably huffy and informed all present that he would not be saying it again, and if Mickey had wanted to hear it himself, he should’ve come in the first place. Followed by a definitely-not-enthusiastic offer to go pick him up in the TARDIS.

once upon a time, it was a family. a mother and a father, and you were married in a church, before the sight of God.

so,

he was nothing, and you see it hit morse like a blow; it's the breaking point. and he almost tells thursday *exactly* who the man he killed was, or rather, had been. but mercy prevails and he falls back on their shorthand, their talisman, the guiding light that was supposed to make the work they do worth it: he was someone's son.

but not mine, says thursday.

it's the final, unknowing cruelty.

morse has boundless empathy and believes in justice for the dead, but maybe he also can't stop imagining himself in their place. the detail he couldn't let drop in the andrew lewis case, which he mentions at least twice in the final episode: he was just a boy looking for his mother.

everybody is someone's something -- except morse, of course. how many times throughout the series have people asked, both to each other and to morse directly: what's keeping him in oxford? he has no family, no ties. he's the odd man out ("same as always" -- thanks jakes). as if all this wasn't enough emphasis, the killer in this episode even selects morse to be his next victim -- for convenience sake, sure, but it also happens to place him as the latest in a line of, to his mind, dangerous outliers to decent society.

morse is no one's son. and we see him realize how much that counts for, in the end.

we here on tumblr reply insistently: he has people! he has friends! but his people, that kind of love, is discounted by the world of the show and honestly, often our own as well. what we're left with, us the audience and morse the doomed figure is only

I am very much married to Ravyn's canon look with the scarf and paladin armour + helm combo. but their current in-game dragonlord drip kinda slaps, and something about the wings invokes a valkyrie to me- which makes some crispy parallels to her pre-reset mecha model that I really enjoy.

#they should invent a grad school thats not fucking insane #i'm hanging in there but im the most unwell i've been in AWhile #this week was just horrible #there was already the freezer food incident but it also started off with a very severe pain episode thats putting me in constant woe #even mundane motion has been agonizing which is McAwesome bc we had a lab inspection which involved moving hundreds of pounds of equipment #during which we found a blackwidow and rats which we had to deal with and was a whole thing psychologically on top of the physical toll #the new class fiasco is still popping off and i had to respond to at this point over 400 emails in the fleeting moments outside of lab #AND A STUDENT TRIED TO FINANCIALLY BRIBE THEIR WAY INTO THE CLASS ? ?? ?? ?????#then the instructor wanted to use me as a guinea pig and i had to test new circuit boards but I wasnt given any time to do so properly #i had to test them plus get them operational and deal with my incoming students all in a frantic 10 minute window #im in charge of running our meetings too but the instructor was interrupting and having side conversations that made it really hard-#to train the other people on the new equipment in a smooth manner #which meant that a bunch of people had to keep me after to ask questions which made me late for my drs appointment #where i found out i cant get the new covid vaccine bc my heart and blood levels arnt stable enough #and joanns lost an expensive+critical fabric order of mine+i had to give a big presentation this week on my research that was stressful #and my inbox is still blowing up from being needed all over the place between teaching lab and classes and yall i am. so so tired.#im in so much pain and so stressed out #debating the ethics of turning into a pile of lint to escape my responsibilities and mortal frame
