This might suck to hear, but if you're a people pleaser that is motivated by praise and avoids disagreements, you are easy to manipulate.

When I was in therapy after surviving years of domestic violence, my therapist had to tell me that my personality was primed for abuse and we needed to work on that so I would be better equipped to see the red flags and respond appropriately in the future.

I'm still working on this, and it's been 8 years. If you tell someone how you want to be treated, what behaviors you don't tolerate in your life, what you're looking for in that relationship, and they react negatively, don't compromise yourself. Just move on.

Fun relationship dynamic

McCoy is still in love with his ex wife. Not in a I'd take you back kind of way, but in a we've spent years together, you held me when my father died, I staunched your bleeding when you cut your hand badly chopping carrots, you know what socks I prefer, I know why you hate you middle name kind of way. Hes the kind of ex husband who still says my wife instead of ex wife even though he fully grasps the ex part of it. Which is annoying for his ex wife, his ex wife's new partner, and for his partner. No one wins, but hey, he has a heart full of love

Now, he's dating Spock. And I think Spock breaks up with him regularly. Like, Spock feels like he's thinking about his boyf at work too much and his performance is down? Break up. Spock has a moment of panic on an away mission when McCoy is shot? Break up. Spock encounters another Vulcan and feels self conscious for having a crush? Break up.

This relationship only works because McCoy doesn't really mind if they're dating or not. He's still in love. This manifests as McCoy turning to Spock at the end of a mission briefing and saying, "I don't remember, are we dating right now? I want to kiss you." And Spock just thinking for a moment and going, "we are not dating at the moment, I broke up with you for your insulting published response to my paper on electromagnetic shielding. But we can commence dating now." And McCoy just goes, "that sounded like a long winded yes" and kisses him

While the rest of the crew just stand there looking confused at each other
