When Naoya eventually kisses you goodbye, off to some other boring mission he needs to do, it’s when he spots the slightest difference from your always welcoming warm and soft lips.

Now, don’t get me wrong, those things were still there much to his heart’s delight, however, a new lingering sweetness would have him dumbfounded for a moment, carefully analyzing this discovery as he licks it up, wondering…

“Did you eat strawberries right now?” You’re no stranger to eating anything sweet that crosses your sight; but that would not be the case—In fact, you’re glad that he noticed, a bright grin quickly forming on your lips as you respond.

“Nope! It’s my new lip balm.” You explain, he raises an eyebrow.

“Lip balm?” Naoya repeats slowly.

“Well actually, a lip balm and an exfoliator! I found them the other day at the mall, that time I went with my staff, remember?” He nods “I was surprised that things like these existed for lips! So, I decided to give it a chance, and I gotta say, my lips definitely feel softer—look!”

You purse your lips into a pout which Naoya doesn’t hesitate to touch with his own lips, pecking them with a gentle kiss—rightfully amused when discovering that you were telling the truth.

“So? What do you think?” you smile, but Naoya doesn’t say anything, opting to give you a kiss instead… and another, and another, as if trying to convince himself he wasn’t making things up.

And you happily obliged initially, taking in all his gestures and returning them too, until you suddenly remembered he was supposed to be on his way to work, unless he wanted to be late!—and all because you wanted to show off your new lip balm, which he also effectively removed by now thanks to his kisses!

“Naoya!” You whine, and your tone was all he needed to understand what you were referring to.

“Just wanted to be sure of the flavor” Naoya smirks. “Didn’t catch it the first time.”

“But you guessed right the first time!!” you cry back, and he gives out a light chuckle before kissing you once more. You pout. “…well, at least one of us is getting their lips hydrated…”

“Don’t be angry, my love, I’ll buy you all the lip balms that you want if that’s the issue.” Naoya promises, pecking your lips one last time before departing off to his next mission.

Even when he had the means to do so (as well as past experiences), you wholeheartedly didn’t expect Naoya to keep his word regarding your lip balms; and you didn’t really care much for it either since you were still trying out this new thing—however, as always, you seemed to have underestimated your husband’s dedication and his fixations, for he quickly became an avid fan of your flavored balms, first seen on the new stick or scrub that would “mysteriously” appear on your vanity just before the other one ended…

Or by the way he’d grab your lips hostage with his, demonstrating both his well-known adoration for you, and newfound curiosity for the new flavor of the moment that lingered on them.

“Na—Naoya…”  you’d whimper, or attempt to through his incessant kissing, lips already numb at that point, as he cages you with his arms, keeping you underneath him and against the futon. “St—Stop…”

“What? I’m just trying to see if your new balm is working…” he murmurs, with eyelids halfway open and undeniably drunk in your scent and taste, desire is the only present feeling in his actions. “What is it… cherry?”

“I… I don’t know…” you blushed—but even when complaining about the breathless, heated situation he was putting you through, your lips still searched for his.

“It’s a secret.” You respond. By now Naoya has gotten you a thousand flavors, ones you weren’t even aware they could be used as balms—but given his craving to try them all out (from you), you determined to put on a different one every day just to keep him on his toes.

“Can I at least have a sneak peek?” he smirks. You giggle, shaking your head.

“Nope! Until I come back maybe.” Naoya scoffs, rolling his eyes. “I won’t be away for long, my love, just gotta pick up some things from the store. I’ll be back before you know it.”

“Don’t know why you don’t ask the servants to do it…” he says. “We could be spending the morning in bed instead.”

“Because I like to go out once in a while.” You respond. “Besides, this is one of your days off, I want you to rest.”

You give him a look that asks him if he’s being serious right now.

Before he outsmarts you by swiftly grabbing you by the arm, pulling you down to him, careful so as to not hurt you, but sternly enough to hold you against him, wrapping his arms around you as he looks down to you, a smirk on his face.

“Naoya!” you whine, attempting to free himself from his grasp, he chuckles. “I gotta go! My staff is waiting for me!”

“Give me a kiss.” Your husband orders. “Or I won’t let you go.”

Did you really think you’d be able to hold him off from trying today’s flavor?

Luckily for him, you love him so much that you easily indulge him without much insistence, giving him a quick, soft kiss at first… until Naoya’s greediness pushes him a step further, converting your soft gestures into a more heated endeavor, his tongue quickly savoring your mouth and your balm of choice—honey, coincidentally his favorite—by gently sucking and biting on your lips, enjoying the treat his wife willingly prepared for him, until the two eventually become breathless, only pulling away when they physically couldn’t continue together.

“You’re going to ruin my make up…” You’re the first to speak, moving your face to the side in efforts to stop him from ravaging you again—how you hated being the voice of reason.

“Alright, alright…” he breathes, kissing your cheek instead. “I guess I can wait for later tonight.”

“You’re insatiable…” you hypocritically murmur, giving him one last kiss before pushing yourself up from the futon, patting away any creases on your dress, turning around to the door soon after…

Only to sharply tense up when Naoya’s hand harshly lands on your ass, a smack that resonated inside the room, making your cheeks even hotter as you quickly aim to confront him.

“Naoya!”

But he only responds to your scolding with a laugh, ignoring your flustered reaction as he goes back onto the futon, attempting to make the best of his day off by resting, until you come back of course.

Because even if he had other things to tend to, it didn’t mean you were free of his clutches.

Naoya was known to be very diligent when it came to his appearance: well-kept and clean were some of the words most associated with him. And depending on who you asked, unconventional too.

But even then, there was no denying that he looked good, liked looking good, and was not afraid to do what he wanted to continue being perceived like that.

However, even when knowledgeable of this aspect of his… something did not match one day.

It was like he had done something to his appearance, different from the norm, yet no one managed to pinpoint what it was. Eventually spurting rumors about it, whispers, all from people trying to figure out what was odd from Naoya-sama’s face, without having to ask him directly…

Until a member of his personal staff was able to notice it. And when he did, he couldn’t believe it, perhaps didn’t want to, never thinking Naoya would be that kind of person, even with his vanity.

But alas, curiosity took ahold of the poor man, and with all embarrassment and courage in the world, decides to ask him.

“Naoya-sama, pardon my intrusion, but I must know.”

“Don’t you have anything better to do than stare at my lips?” Naoya frowns, the room seems to start spinning around the man.

“No! I mean—yes, I do!” He cries, wishing nothing but the earth to open and swallow him whole, alongside his shame, humiliation, and blatant stupidity for having thought bringing up this topic was a smart career move! What was he even thinking? Oh, now he’s going to get fired! “I’m—I’m sorry.”

“Get out of my sight.” Is all that your husband says, not that he needed to do much after that; he didn’t even get a chance to threaten him before the man was already out of the room and far away, freeing Naoya of his senseless idiocies and allowing him to continue enjoying his meal in peace.

Yet, even when the interaction between the two was nothing less than undesirable, Naoya couldn’t stop himself from chuckling, finding his observation to be particularly accurate, hoping that you’d come back soon to continue his “treatment” and wondering where else it could also work…

You two had ended up talking that night for what had felt like hours. It was just natural conversation. 

But the talks became weekly. You two would meet up, if he wasn’t on a case, and would just talk about everything. He quickly became one of your closest friends. 

Now of course, Gibbs had found out about these meetings and had turned it into a fight. He didn’t like the idea of you spending so much time with another man. But then again, he wasn’t even home enough to spend any time with you. 

“So, cheating on me now?” He had asked one night after actually coming home for once.

“Excuse me?” You had asked sharply.

“You heard me. That man, Aaron Hotchner. I saw you two at the bar the other night.” You rolled your eyes. Of course he was doing this. He would find any reason to start a fight. 

“He’s a friend and the father of one of my students. Just a friend, Jethro.” You really didn't want to fight. But he was pushing for one. For whatever reason you didn’t know.

“Sure.” He scoffed, igniting a fire in you. You two had gone back and forth all night. Him accusing you over and over of cheating. And you insisting over and over that Aaron was just a friend. The fight had lasted for a couple of days before he finally decided to stop sleeping on the couch and actually came to bed. But, of course, he was gone before you woke up.

It really was coming to an end. You knew it had to be you who had to end it. He would never do it. He didn’t have the strength. 

You knew you had to do it the moment you realized you started having feelings for Aaron. You had felt terrible, but you would never cheat on Jethro. You were most definitely not breaking things off because you wanted to be with Aaron. You were doing it because being with Gibbs was killing you. 

It was hard to come to terms with, but you knew you needed to break things off with Gibbs. It was only tearing you both down. And you almost felt like you were leading Aaron on. Even if he himself admitted you two were only friends. 

The day after you discovered these feelings you broke it off. And it was so much harder than you had ever expected.

You waited until he got home. Waiting until he had had a glass of bourbon before bringing it up.

“Gibbs, we need to talk.” You had called him by his last name. His first would be too personal right now. It would hurt too much.

“What?” Was his only response. You took a deep breath before continuing. Here goes nothing.

“I think… I think we should break up.” His eyes shot up to yours. His eyes wide as he wiped his hand down his face. 

“Why?” He knew why. You knew why. Everyone knew why. He just didn’t know what else to say.

“Because Gibbs, we make each other miserable. We’re always fighting or arguing. You don’t even come home some nights, just to avoid the fighting. I can’t bear it anymore. We don’t make eachother happy. We may have once loved each other, but we don’t anymore.” He sighed as he felt tears gather in his eyes. He was angry and upset and pissed and just, just sad. There had to be a bigger reason behind you doing this right?

“Bullshit. You just want to call it off so you can go runnin to Hotchner!” He yelled. You scoffed.

“This isn’t about him!” You yelled right back. 

“You know what? Go. I don’t care. Never loved you anyways.” Now that stung. “You were just a side piece. Something to distract me from work.” You scoffed, rolling your eyes to try and brush away the tears. 

“Sure Gibbs, whatever you need to tell yourself. I’ll be back for the rest of my things tomorrow.” You ran out of yo- his house, slamming the door shut behind you. 

And then you let the tears fall. It was over. All of it was over.

You spent the night on Aaron’s couch. Sure it probably wasn’t the best idea, but he had quickly become one of your best friends, and you needed somewhere to stay. When you had told him you were breaking things off, he had almost looked happy. Happy for you, or just happy because he liked you? You couldn’t tell. But you weren’t ready to find out. You needed time. To heal from the break up.

That was what you kept telling yourself at least. It made it easier to keep your distance from Hotch. You needed to wait. You couldn’t just move on like that. It wouldn't be right. Even if you didn’t care how Gibbs felt anymore, you still wouldn't do that to him.

But god, Aaron was making that next to impossible. He was kind and caring. He made sure you were okay and didn’t pressure you into anything. He was there. He had been for months. He picked you up throughout your relationship and even after it had ended. He was there. 

You told yourself that you couldn't do anything, not yet.

But that didn’t last. About 2 weeks after the break up, you were sitting on Aaron’s couch, curled into his side. He had looked down at you and you just hadn’t been able to look away. You had held eye contact until his lips had slammed against yours in a passionate, heated kiss. 

You got lost in that kiss. That kiss you had been waiting for. The kiss he had been waiting for. But then you thought about Gibbs. How he had hurt you. How this would hurt him.

You broke away quickly.

“Wait, wait. Aaron, wait.” He had stopped immediately after hearing your words. Pulling away, a look of disappointment and guilt flashed across his face. 

“God Y/n, I'm so sorry. You're hurting right now and I just took advantage of that.” This man couldn’t be more perfect if he tried. 

“Aaron, I was just going to say that if you want this, then we need to take it slow. I don't know how ready I am to let someone in again. But me and Gibbs, we ended a long time before the break up. I’m not hurting. I mean I am, but I have been hurting for months, and I just want it to go away. It goes away when I’m with you.” He leaned his forehead against yours.

“We can take this as slow as you need to. But I’m here, and I’m here to stay.” You let out a watery laugh and leaned in to kiss him softly.

“Thank you Aaron.” And you fell asleep right there that night, in his arms. Finally feeling happy again.

Gibbs never expected to see you again after the break up. There was no reason the two of you would run into each other. You were a teacher, him an NCIS agent. No crossing over. 

That is until he had to collaborate on a case with the BAU. And Gibbs was sorely disappointed when he met the Unit Chief. They both knew who the other was. The only thing was that Gibbs didn’t know you and Hotch were together. 

That is until you surprised Aaron with lunch. 

You had walked through the doors of the BAU, waving hi to the team, not seeing Dinozzo or Ziva sitting close by, watching you walk through the bullpen. They knew who you were. They just didn’t know why you were here. 

You walked up the stairs to Hotch’s office and knocked twice before walking in.

“Aaron honey, I brought lun-” You cut yourself off with a quiet gasp as you spotted Jethro Gibbs standing next to Aaron.

“Jethro?” You asked. His eyes shot to you, instantly putting together why you were there. He scoffed. 

“Wow Y/n.” He shook his head, giving you a disappointed look. It had only been about 3 months since the break up. Awkward silence filled the room. No one knew what to say or what to do. But then Gibbs spoke up. 

 “How long after you left did the two of you get together?” You bowed your head. Waiting a couple of seconds before answering. 

“Two weeks.” You whispered out. He scoffed again. You spared a glance up to Aaron, but he was already staring at you with a careful gaze. Making sure you were okay. 

“I'm going to give you two a minute.” And he walked out, squeezing your hand as he passed you. Once he was gone you spoke up again.

“It’s not what you think, Jethro.” 

“You sure, because I’m thinking that you cheated!” He yelled, raising his voice slightly. 

“I would never cheat on you! You know me better than that!” You retorted. 

“Well, you moved on pretty damn fast then. You may not have cheated, but you're still a traitor!” He looked so angry. You didn’t know what to do. 

“Jethro, it hadn’t just been 2 weeks since we had broken up. We had been over for so much longer. We were miserable. But Aaron was there for it all. He became my friend. My best friend. And everytime I ended up crying because of one of our fights, or crying because you didn't come home, he was there to cheer me up. He helped me through the ending of one of the most important relationships I had ever been in.” You paused, trying to catch your breath. “Yes, I moved on. I started dating him 2 weeks after we broke up. You can hate me all you want. Call me a traitor. Fine. But you gave up on us a long time ago, and excuse me for finally finding someone who actually fought to have a relationship with me.’ He took your words in carefully. He thought through each and every thing you had said. The worst part was that he knew you were right. 

About everything. He had given up. He was the one who had stayed away, and picked fights, and just pushed you away. He had already lost you and you had moved on. But here he was standing in your way.

“I’m sorry Y/n.” You were shocked to hear the words leave his mouth. He didn’t say sorry. It was even one of his rules. 

“I will always love you Jethro. Always. But I’ve moved on. So should you. Find someone who makes you happy.” You gave him a sad smile before he brought you in for a hug. It lasted for a while, until you pulled away. He pressed a kiss to your forehead, squeezing your hand, before walking out the door. It was really over. You felt the tears drip down your face. 

Aaron was quick to run back into his office, bringing you in his arms.

“Shh, shh. I’ve got you Y/n. It’s okay. I’ve got you.” You cried for a bit. Just to let it out. You were letting go of him. For good now.

You had Aaron and Jack and Aaron’s team. And that would be enough for you. Because Aaron loved you in a way that Jethro hadn’t. 

Aaron held you until you calmed down, pressing a kiss to your lips as he wiped away your tears. 

“Are you okay?” He asked quietly. For once you could answer honestly. 

“Yes. I am. All because of you.” You smiled as you leaned in and kissed him again. 

You would always love Leroy Jethro Gibbs. But you knew in your heart that you were meant to be with the man in front of you.

Since they have to wait for their drinks kind of 'together', Sofia tries to strike up a conversation, congratulating her. "Jake must be so excited to become a dad." "He really is." "He's gonna be a great one." "You are literally the first person to say that." "I can imagine...but it's been years, I'm sure he's done a lot of growing up since then, especially with you."

- they part ways pretty amicable - Amy never really held a big grudge against her or anything, and she is arguably the best ex Jake has ever had (not that he's had many), despite their messy ending. It was very much a 'wrong place, wrong time' situation for them and Amy's sure that if he hadn't had feelings for her back then already, and strong ones, he probably would've made it work with Sofia. So she's glad that 'the other woman' has clearly moved on as well unlike her whole Teddy situation.

- Jake meets Sofia again with a baby strapped to his front so at least he's got an excuse for not hugging her hello or anything. She definitely coos over Mac because he's adorable no matter what, and mentions how much he looks like his mom. They catch up only a little - she's moved up in her career and is not working as a defense attorney in Brooklyn anymore so they really haven't seen each other at all for a good year or two, and she's got a wedding to plan herself, etc. and Jake congratulates her on all of that so sincerely she can't help but smile. "You've really grown up, Peralta." "Yeah, having a kid does that to you, I think." He mumbles a little while Mac babbles. "I, uh, I think I should apologise for being so immature when we-" "No, I don't think either of us has to apologise for anything. Or we should both apologise for it all. (violence/abuse tw) their father always encouraged pretty volatile behaviour and it caused a lot of physical fights and arguments between the brothers when their dad told them the best way to get over it was to start hurting until someone tapped out, it was just a chaotic and pretty abusive household but no one knew and their mom definitely wasn’t going to say anything about it to their dad

(missing child/kidnapping/anxiety/depression tw)  wyatt went missing on a weekend that their parents were gone because of a trip they won, and things just got worse from there, high school was really rough for gunner, his anxiety grew worse as time went on that no one found wyatt, their dad grew more hostile towards them, cliff left home in the middle of the night never to be seen again (merely leaving a note so that the family didn’t think they had a case of two kidnapped children), and their mom just grew sicker, it was rare that she would ever leave her room and if she did it was in fits of random energy where she would do something spontaneous and completely unnecessary to their house as a way of coping

the two years that gunner was at home after cliff left were pretty brutal and as soon as he could, he was fleeing wyoming and going to school in irving

3. love love love by of monsters and men this song is the singer feeling like shes completely unworthy of being loved by this important person in her life, particularly because she has NO idea how to show affection and love the (for lack of better word) “acceptable” way, or any way at all really. this REALLY has jotaro vibes cause he is one repressed motherfucker and as we see the entirety of his story, jotaro is full of love he loves so much it’s just he has no idea how to properly express it cause he’s scared essentially. but that didn’t stop people from loving him, in this case, that being kakyoin. hhhhHHh

4. ribs by lorde this song is about being scared of growing up but due to the lyrics being written the way they are, i kinda spin the interpretation of it to be the fear jotaro and kakyoin had on the crusade to egypt, as they were the youngest and didnt know if they’d make it back and everything is just incredibly overwhelming there is so much going on all the time those 50 days. i can do a full analysis on why but that would be kinda long LMAO. for now let’s leave it at they have a very Unique fear of growing up but it still fits with the lyrics. particularly the last bit of the song with the “youre the only friend i need” verses,,,makes me think of these two...

5. can i call you tonight? by dayglow i interpret this song to be about trying to figure out what, exactly, your feelings are for this very specific and important person in your life. since jotaro and kakyoin r both repressed and also suckers of internalized homophobia, i think they fit that theme very well. particularly with the whole “i feel like we’re close, but maybe we’re not actually? what are we?” theme going on in the lyrics, this whole song makes me think of jotaro and kakyoin figuring out their intense and sudden (cause again only 50 days but also, those 50 days had So Much going on) feelings for each other. also the “now i’m no longer alone” line in the chorus HHHHHHH that’s them

6. la la la love song by toshinobu kubota ft naomi campbell SO I KNOW THIS SONG IS KINDA JUST FLUFF but we need some light-hearted moments in this thing hjgg;. ALSO toshinobu kubota is canonically jotaro’s favorite musician so i wanted to reference that and this was my fav love song of his that i’ve found so far so (: also the “you are my shining star” line,,,heh

7. truce by twenty one pilots so this song is very soft. it’s about tending to wounds and taking a moment before continuing to push on. it makes me think abt jotaro and kakyoin taking care of each other on the journey (for example the lovers arc/n’doul fight). also the whole “stay alive, stay alive for me/you will die, but now your life is free/take pride in what is sure to die” makes me go fucking nuts that is. that fits these two to a T fuck

8. this side of paradise by coyote theory this song has big “two lonely people are in love with each other for the first time” vibes and OHHHHHHHHHH THAT’S JOTAKAK.... there are a lot of little lines that make me specifically think abt these two, such as “love so strong it makes me feel weak” (jotaro-core...), “if you’re lonely come be lonely with me”, “i’ll be yours if you’ll be mine” (wanting some security while ur in love for the first time is common but especially for these two i think it works spectacularly) but yea this song as a whole is just...ohhh them. theyre in lvoe HK;FNJFL

9. i saw you in a dream by the japanese house EVERY. SINGLE. LINE. OF THIS SONG IS POST-EGYPT JOTARO. EVERY SINGLE LINE. and the ghost the singer talks about seeing? they hadnt changed at all? they were such a pretty vision, a perfect hallucination? BRUH... just listen i could do a whole analysis on this song it all just fits jotaro mourning kakyoin throughout the years so so so so well it makes me feel nuts holy shit i just. literally every line. every line fits i am not joking. i cried when i first heard this song LMAO

10. video games by the young professionals SO LMAO obviously kakyoin’s epic gamer moves are being referenced but beyond that i interpret this song to just be the fun parts of being in love esp when ur young (backed up with the “kissing in the blue dark” and the “watching all our friends fall” lines). also the chorus just makes me want to cry cause just, happy jotakak moments PLEASE. “the world was built for two only worth living if somebody is loving you, and baby now you do” THEYRE NOT ALONE ANYMORE THEY FOUDN EACH OTHER IM GONAN WAILLLLLLL oh my god. im nuts theynkjNJKNJF also “i heard that you like the bad girls” please. these two shitty teenagers

11. ikanaide by sohta ft. yuki kaai this song is abt not wanting someone u love to leave u cause youll miss them obviously but also ur scared of how the time will change you and if it’ll make you unrecognizable eventually. big post-egypt jotaro vibes 😔 especially cause one part of the chorus translates to “i shouldnt cry, i shouldnt cry, but the truth is i want to say dont go” and im jus like OHHHHH NO IT’S JOTARO FINDING OUT KAKYOIN DIED jkfnNKJFNJDhkld

12. therefore you and me by eve ALRIGHT. god this song is one hell of a doozy. i interpret this song to mean being sincerely in love but youre in the wrong place/wrong time. considering the uh Whole Situation in part 3 there were definitely better times to fall in love for these two. jotaro and kakyoin try to be happy w the moments they do have (i think the second verse in particular adds to this sentiment what with the selfish ghosts part) but they want a better environment understandably so theyre also just kinda ignoring things until they can properly care for a relationship. but well...who knows if theyll live to make it to that better environment ):

13. mayonaka no door/stay with me by miki matsubara this song is a v sweet sentiment abt like “it’s not just heat of the moment!! i do care about u a lot!!” and asking the person u have feelings for to stick around. big kakyoin and jotaro vibes as it would be easy to call what they have a fling considering how relatively short of a timeframe they had but i genuinely think their relationship was deeper than just that and this song nicely reflects such. “jotaro and i will share a room cause we’re both students” fuckin head ass

14. a thousand years by sting oh sting.... so since sting is kakyoin’s favorite musician canonically i had to add one of his songs here as well but beyond just that i do think this song fits them!! it kinda gives me big “if not in this life, then the next” vibes which is a big uhhh thing for jotakak. they may be doomed to tragedy but the moments they have together make the tragedy worth enduring ironically i feel like this song is mostly from jotaro’s pov considering i dont think he ever completely got over kakyoin and this song def has that kinda sentiment but hey it fits them...

15. mr loverman by ricky montgomery SO FUNNY STORY i actually REALLY. REALLY didnt wanna add this song at first cause i felt it wouldve been...idk too cliche? i guess? and i was ALL kinds of picky when choosing songs for this playlist HOWEVER. eventually i relistened to it and read the lyrics while thinking specifically abt jotakak and it actually rlly does fit quite well KJDFN; another jotaro mourning song ): it’s not just the chorus tho the whole song fits jotaro immediately post-egypt but also i feel like some time around part 4 this sentiment would come back to him cause Yknow. Gays In Morioh and the mess of his family life back in america. it just aches for him cause while he’s happy josuke is happy he wishes he couldve had that for him and kakyoin too but yea jus ... them

16. you by petit biscuit an instrumental?? in a ship playlist?? yes that’s right much like mr loverman i was hesitant to put this song in cause it’s harder to justify since i dont rlly know much abt music (and not to b controversial but interpreting lyrics and interpreting music r two different things) however i really think the vibes of this song fit jotakak. it’s got a somber melody but the keys of the piano are high which im taking to mean “light in the dark” which. jotaro and kakyoin (along w the rest of the crusaders) were each other’s lights in the dark. also the ending samples a conference/lecture talking about space flight and like. star platinum. space symbolism. jotaro. yeah

17. saturn by sleeping at last MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. this song is all about losing someone very close and important to you, but reflecting on the good they brought into your life rather than the pain of losing them. this song also has HEAVY space imagery which stardust crusaders is absolutely chalk fucking full of so also it’s a very philosophical song and considering that jotaro and kakyoin are both Nerds and both got a nice view of the stars/space in the desert with each other, im sure they had conversations similar to the one highlighted in the song. i think it’s a good note to end the playlist on cause kakyoin is dead and jotaro is the survivor but it’s not a mourning song so much as jotaro taking the love he had for kakyoin and pushing forward with it allll th way into part 6

hello icha!!!!! learned from my mistakes and typed this out in a separate document. first i have to say im feeling a very deep connection with citron as of late bc i was giving myself a pep talk abt like physics and i told myself "face up and man the music!" and was like "...is that wrong. theres that song called man against the music isnt there... yeah it must be right" and. well i realized later. i also think the phrase "dont cry because it happened, smile because its over" is very good. also I’m halfway thru creating a very eclectic list of like. a Pokémon team for each a3 character which is… something. kinda knew it would happen to me. might take a while for me to finish it tho now that I’m halfway bc I’m suddenly having a crisis like “wait shit I’m only confident on my understanding and characterizing of like 4 characters am I good enough” so… it’s slow going lol. anyways. i finished that damn physics thing I was giving myself a pep talk about and so am treating myself to autumn/winter. happens that watching these events is also like. the only thing which reminds me to actually like. log into a3 lol. i am so bad at gacha games. probably a good thing in the long run. ok starting from the top!

hisoka going "zzz" as his reaction made me immediately go... oh dear, please dont fall asleep in the bath and guess what happened. yeah. good thing homare was there lol. speaking of i fucking adore homare and his poetry. id buy his collection. i also wish there was a collection like if there was a master list of every poem he says in like. at the very least main story. if not i will literally do it myself. i love homare so much im like him in that back when i had to play dodgeball id always be like kufufufu they cant hit me if im friendless enough that no one pays attention to me but like in my case it actually worked out. on the subject of the pillow fight tho, hisoka's crazy strong pillow fight throw... one more mark on the list for suspicious, maybe assassin occupation. this event made me realize how much i missed winter like. i saw the stranger pretty recently (which has caused the effect of be being like "taichi!! thats my boy!!" in my head everytime he shows up lol but anyways i havent gotten to a winter play yet so im VERY hype. especially bc this seems like it stars hisoka and homare??? like oh!! oh!!!! also detective fiction... im swooning. i also just enjoy the hisoka homare dynamic a whole fucking lot i think its nice how homare was like "yeah im ride or die for this funky lil amnesiac, why wouldnt you be?" and its just like. nice. feel like hes always reaching out to hisoka which is like. man homare is so nice.

back to chronology. ofc sakyo goes cheap for the hot springs lol. on brand as ever. was very hype for the azuma sakyo dynamic bc all i remember is like azuma trashing everyone including sakyo at some game or the other in one of the winter chapters and it was very good. or was this a clip in like a stage play? either way it was delightful. at first i misinterpreted taichi going "…" after azuma and sakyo said theyd never been on a field trip bc like. taichi being quiet or noncommunicative... after going thru autumn troupe act 1 it makes me fear for my life a little lol. anyways im glad he was just like planning fun times. speaking of taichi tho we got a tasuku taichi pair for etudes!!!! im not spoiling myself for later events but i hope to GOD tasuku and taichi do like a lead co lead in SOMETHING or at least like some mixed troupe event i want them to talk!!!

also dunno if this is an intentional pun but i enjoy that its called high spirits at the hot spring bc like oh theyre having fun but also bc like. "spirits" is used to refer to a certain type of alcohol i think? which is cool. dunno if its intentional but i liked that. anyways the talent show. taichis moving rendition of single ladies... ok i know it said single fellas but like. we know. wonder if that line was a different song in japanese? its not too old at ALL tho imo. anyways the way banri and juza being themselves Are the entertainment... flashback to when banri slaps juza live on stage instead of doing a stage slap lol. my reaction to azuma essentially went:

me: hey tasuku and omi were shirtless what's ur problem with azuma

anyways i reread and from what i understand they were maybe only flexing and doing a gun show? which like. no wonder it didnt last too long then lol. also explains why they didnt have shirtless sprites i suppose lmao. i am SO curious abt what azuma ended up doing tho that fade to black is so mysterious! did he tap dance? did he pole dance? the world will never know...

oh also im not like super familiar with azuma yet but my read on his personality is definitely like "I am so touch starved All The Time but I will be chill. :) :) this is fine :)" like he just seems to rly like being around people! just like basking in presence whether or not hes rly talking that much.

i enjoyed that juza mentioned pillow fighting with his lil brother... thats nice! i think a lot of this event was just focused on ppl having fun over the drama lol bc it got wrapped up sooo quick. i liked the bit where sakyos worried that izumi was out late searching for him tho it was so sweet. table tennis match was very fun although id argue calling hisoka and juza the two quietest tho lol like... banri exists so juza isnt quiet. just like inevitably. finally, the event cg!!! azumas hair tied up... so nice! thats how I tie my hair up sometimes tho it doesnt look nearly as nice lol. taichi rambling abt his first love for so long tho... lol. ill be honest i have to reread autumn bc i was not aware of this whole situation until it came up in the stranger and i like inferred from there. the end of this event was nice! it was cute. i dont rly have much thoughts on it but im so hype for the winter play

of course Hisoka fell asleep in the bath. tbh this event was a lot of "Hisoka almost dies in a spring house multiple times if it wasn't for his troupesmates". Between sleeping in the bath and almost swallowing the table tenis ball... where would we be without Winter, and especially Homare, taking care fo him.

I'm SO GLAD you like Homare that much! he's so so good! i'm sure there must be a masterlist somewhere, or well. can be done anytime i guess?? but yeah Homare is fantastic and LDJFDLKFJDF the evil plan to avoid dodgeball from both of you.. this is incredible DLKJFDLKF. I'm sO GLAD you like their dynamic! yeah i adore it too. Homare was so quick to leap into taking care of Hisoka? Like i mean he immediatly called him sleeping beauty when they first met, and immediately decided to be his roommates to watch over him, and then he did everything to take care of him and it's just so sweet. Homare has such a big heart he's so gentle with Hisoka. Homey and comfortable, whenever Hisoka admits it or not ahah.

ahah wouldn't be Sakyo if he didn't need to stay cheap. BUT YEAH the Sakyo/Azuma dynamic is pretty good. oh the event you talk about i think is in some of his very first backstage storyes (that you can read if you have them since they're at this point of the chronology). There's one where they play a mafia game and Sakyo is warry of Azuma because "people like him are those you need to worry about the most" and Azuma is just ":) you wound me :) i would never :)" and then Azuma wins the game and starts to mess with everyone. It was so fun. and yeah i see which clip you mean for the stage play!! it's so so fun they have such a neat dynamic and i loved to see it in this event as well.

and omg worrying about Taichi while he was just there preparing a fun time! this child really would have worried us all back then huh

but AHH YEAH TASUKU TAICHI.... It's such a neat dynamic! ofc i won't say anything but man i love the potential of their stories, as the two ex Godza boys. To see them bond and be comfortable with each other always make me so soft.

your read on Azuma's personality feels pretty spot on to me ahah omg. Staying with what you know about him, the fact that with his job and all, he seems like he's starving for connection while also terrified to make himself emotionally vulnerable. He loves staying with people, listening to them, caring for them, and he's touch starved as hell (i mean it's his job) but he doesn't seem to really know how to be on the receiving hand of affection. there's a flair talk, i can't remember where, with Omi at some point, where Azuma compliments him, and Omi is just "mhm.. but you know i think that it's more about you" and ends up complimenting Azuma in depth and it let Azuma dumbfounded because he didn't expect Omi to trick him at his own game, while Omi just genuinely don't get why Azuma is reacting that way. He gives he gives he gives, and he's genuinely happy with that, but he seems to have difficulties to take, or to demand for something, while also starving for it. I have so many emotions for Azuma.

Any mentions of Juza's little bro are the best things. I love this type of mention TwT

And yeah it was such a laid back event. Honestly deserved after the crying fest that was The Stranger imo. It's good to relax once in a while and it was nice to have them have fun. There was the bitterness of both Azuma and Sakyo's past that was always a bit looming but everyone was working so hard for them to enjoy themselves that the joy just overtake any sadness i loved it.

And yeah the Table Tennis match was so fun and chaotic LMAO. I love the dynamic between Juza and Hisoka. Just two usually quiet boys who like sweets. Except that yeah like you say, as long as Banri is around, Juza cannot be 100% quiet. Rip.

but yeah! this event was really sweet and laid back, not much to say about it, but it was nice to have it at all!

um.. i dont really know where to begin tbh? i mean you cant really talk about any of these characters without talking abt the other two so.... this is gonna be long.

so lets take shiori, who has a very classic case of internalized homophobia. which is confirmed by ikuhahras outtake on ep. 17 which states the following

 “I finally realized the truth. To think that she loved me back! What a miracle! But...‘The loser in love is the one who lets their heart be ruled by it.’Everyone's adopted a provocative attitude toward someone of the opposite sex that they like at least once or twice, to get that person to notice them. So it's okay if I do that.This love will crumble if we touch. But when people don't touch, the love eventually dies away .That's why I decided to keep your love prisoner. To make sure that you love me forever. That game will make our love ‘eternal.’ I'm sure of it.We were ‘lovers lost from the beginning.”

so shioris in love with juri. im not sure if thats something u caught onto or not but its definitely the quintessence of her character, and needs to be considered when we consider her against ruka- since its a shared affection. also, i just like shiori, i dont necessarily think shes GOOD i just enjoy watching her and she feels very raw. shiori has a crippling inferiority complex, you can even tell through off handed conversations with her friends in hallways she exaggerates her stories to be more liked. juri is someone who has things come easy to her, and doesnt even really seem to care or notice. in the shows canon shes: liked by the student body, liked by teachers, admired by men (and girls too), academically inclined, good at bowling, captain of fencing club (and likely the most talented duelist- since shes the only one utena never properly beats) and a MODEL?????????? and shiori, at least in her own eyes, is painfully mundane. growing up next to someone who seems to have everything go in their favor, all of the while youre harboring having feelings for them (and jealous that youre among SO many suitors) is so frustrating! especially when you dont believe to have any at all. the elevator sequence when she discovers juris locket is a bit of a power trip for shiori, and also just a sort of confusion. shioris “why do you look at me like that?!” when she considers juri mid breakdown is a clear reflection of her own confusion, she may as well be saying “how could you possibly love me?”...but that was the black rose arc which all got undone anyways- so by the time we see shiori ruka arc she doesnt even know juris got the hots for her. when she first sees ruka, shes staring at juri first and only zeroes in on ruka once she hears people talking abt him. she takes ruka the same way she did that boy in middle school because he seems to be something coveted by the girls around her, its a very closeted gay girl move to decide to go for a boy just because other girls are into him... and it definitely helps that hes in such close contact w juri...he could easily be the one stored in that locket of hers, so why not take him? 

so then we have ruka, who the entire time we watch him is smug, condescending, and genuinely one of the most unpleasant characters on the show. by the end we learn hes in love with juri, so maybe this persona was embellished to push her towards revolution to “free her from shiori” or whatever but.... sorry i dont care LOL! the way he treated shiori ALONE was enough for me to dislike him, there was NO need to tear apart and embarrass the girl like that. he took clear advantage of her crush on juri. his locker is seen right next to juris, and shiori is pressed up against one of the two lockers, but we arent shown which,  “after all, that wasnt my sword,”....he knows shiori has been going to juris locker (and potentially polishing her sword but who knows. all we know is that she goes to juris locker.) and it is later revealed hes extra certain of her feelings because upon publically dumping her (another dick move) we hear her kinda stutter “I love you more than.... I love you more than anyone else” shes clearly beating around a bush because theyre in public, hes pinpointed she and juri are both into eachother, and instead of being a normal ass guy about it and just SETTING THEM UP and telling them to work their stuff out he chooses to, “out of love”  assault juri, emotionally manipulates the girl juri is in love with,  then inadvertantly cause juris locket to break which upsets her so deeply she forfeits her duel with utena. and upon that locket breaking he has the AUDACITY to think hes somehow freed her from something... when the girl is breaking down crying in the rain (the first and only time we ever see juri cry...even if its implied she does it in the shower that one time lol).......then just???dies??? like all he does in his time on the show is cause problems and die, all because he couldnt get over his feelings for a lesbian.... it just feels SO gross to me that he hides his assault and general abuse (can we talk abt how he likely took shioris virginity, JUST to break her down???) behind some icky hero complex

PLUS we see shiori at the end of that episode realize shes in that locket while juri is dueling, and we see her run up to juri at the end of the ep and it doesnt look malicious, it feels very...resolutiony? esp when you put it next to the miki/kozue closing scene of their car arc duel, which is explicitly bad terms, this feels more hopefully....suggesting some part of shiori has at least changed. ruka never got that luxury, he completely exploited two girls in order to add dramatic flare to his last few days and felt valid in doing so..... shiori never seemed to think her actions were JUSTIFIED.....which is sort of the point of the black rose arc where shiori is arguably at her worst........... the very ugliest part of ppl are brought out in those elevator sessions so thats what we see of shiori?

OK we’ve both touched on it but yr post reminded me, wld LOVE 2 hear more on ur thoughts re: a Rigg&Gibson&Perez friendship squad !!!

YEAHHH god I love them!!! Three people with the biggest hearts and strong moral compasses who want to help the people... these three would get along so well I know this in my heart.

I like to imagine them as the kind of friends that all congregate in someone's apartment every Friday night and they just chill together and talk about anything and everything. Sometimes Kerry is there because I like to think about her as Perez's gf, which is a whole other layer of comfort + fun bc Rigg is super close to her too!! Those nights are kinda like. Double date nights without going out. Whether Kerry is there or not, though, the main thing is its just a way to relax around ppl you're comfortable around + care about.

Another thing I think about is that I think Perez + Gibson probably have similar senses of humour? I can't explain why I feel this so strongly I just do. Not quiiite to Gibson + Brit levels, but just about - sometimes they drive Rigg nuts w how snarky they can be with each other. He loves them both so much though and he knows its all jokes so he's mostly just fond about it lmao. If Gibson catches his eye its just heart eyes the whole time,, Perez notices this too + she thinks it's adorable. I love them!!!

And ohhh can you imagine them as a trio of vigilantes though. People who have been drawn into the Jigsaw case whether they wanted to be or not (and they definitely didn't want to) and lost so much because of it. Perez lost Strahm. Rigg & Gibson, though not in the same way, lost Hoffman. There's so much potential there and honestly? I think all three of them deserve to go ape shit on someone's ass (preferably Hoffman or even John, though obviously that's not. An option). I think the three of them working together could definitely organize something, and I think that they'd work together well as a unit. I've been thinking abt that one a lot actually bc of our Strahm/Adam discussions <3

I like to think that Gibson and Perez (+ Kerry as, ideally, she would still be around) try to help Rigg while he's going through it in IV... Gibson would be too technically but. He knows how hard it's all hitting Rigg because it's hitting him too. At that point they wouldn't know Hoffman was an apprentice yet so like the reveal that he's a part of Rigg's test? With Eric? There would be so many conflicting emotions but ultimately neither of them want Hoffman to be hurt like that.

In turn, I think Rigg and Gibson are there for Perez when Strahm is injured in the water cube trap + later killed (though I suppose it depends on how you want that to go, i.e. whether Strahm also survives or not) and they help her to cope with being made not to inform one of her Best Friends of her survival bc I hc them to be VERY close. It would kill her not to be allowed to tell Strahm she was relatively alright. Gibson + Rigg (+ Kerry, of course) are there to reassure her and keep her updated on his condition.

If this is a scenario in which this happens, they're also right at her side when Hoffman tries to string others along into believing Strahm is the Jigsaw accomplice (knowing Strahm already has to be dead, which is just Devastating for Perez) because they know it's not him. They have undeniable proof that it isn't him. The three of them cannot be ignored by Erickson when they all have the same story. Can you imagine the three of them being the ones to take Hoffman out then and there? They make sure they have backup before they even lead him down to that room with Sachi + decode the Seth Baxter tape. No one dies in that room except the persona that Hoffman has built. It ends there in that room - at least, on Hoffman's side of things.
