ok so, i just want to comment a little on 2003 splinter. @purplepixel and i are on season 1 still, and im REALLY liking it thus far, but theres something i want to complain about.

why on Gods green beautiful earth is splinter annoyed at his kids for "breaking stuff" at aprils and being like "this is what i live like every day". like i get it. hes an actual rat. he doesnt know any better and thats a point i made in later episodes, but... bruh.

why am i mad? well, because the kids quite literally feel bad and offer to fix it. THEY dont know better either. they think this is the best way of doing it and are overconfident in their skills, but feel bad and offer to glue the plates together. yes, it doesnt do much, but... i dont know, im not saying it should be changed or anything, but something about a parent being annoyed at something THEIR KIDS WOULDNT KNOW NOT TO DO really just rubs me the wrong way. TEACH THEM BETTER THEN SPLINTER!!! like, mikey i get, but the rest? come tf on

I think big issue rw/by has just as a show is it being confused with its own identity. It wants to say it's a feel-good shounen-esque good vs evil hopepunk love triumphs all story but at the same time it desperately keeps wanting to put its characters into moral quandaries with no clear correct answer.

So you end up with weird situations like with ironwood and the white fang where a character makes a decision to do something and the story seems to be trying to convince you that was the Wrong decision and Evil and Bad while you as the viewer is left there going is it really? Is it?

It wants to be mob psycho but it can't help but ask questions like "hey do you think extremist groups are okay when it comes to minorities asking for equality? and would the minorities being catgirls change anything" and I'm over here with my popcorn and anime theme song going I dunno man, I just work here please leave me alone

Kai and Zane both literally have the same exact jackets

Absolutely in love with this because it meant at some point that:

A - one of them decided to get the same jacket for the other not not knowing what the other's sense of fashion is, so choosing their own jacket but a different color

B - it was a deliberate choice on their end by matching jackets

And the 2nd option is especially funny when you consider in how they're both opposites of each other, but are also very much alike

Opposites as in:

Kai, a hot head full of confidence who usually jumps into danger

Zane, a calm and collected person who usually chooses to analyse and plan before attacking

They are both literally opposite in elements, Fire and Ice

But they're also very much alike in the sense that they value their family a lot, to the point of putting themselves in mortal danger just to protect them, and if there's a threat to said family they are not stopping until its dealt with

Sometimes I long to have been an active participant of the Gravity Falls Fandom back when it first aired because I was OBSESSED with the show and the characters. Sadly I was only aware of Roblox at the time as an online space and had zero fucking idea of fandom spaces, so all that hype and excitement was contained to silly doodles long gone to time and thoughts/ideas I can't recall anymore.

All I remember is being excited for every new episode that dropped and being so surprised by the secret twin twist. Also really wanted to get a hug from Stan. He seemed to really need it and little me always imagine he'd give the best hugs. I still do. I also wanted to step on Ford's toes when he first popped up lol. I get it know though, missed a lot of context and lore (because lil me was fucking clueless wtf merch was and that they fucking made the books into REAL books).

I've had this au—Will as Robin, El as Batgirl, Mike as Spoiler + a few more Hawkins characters as Bats but I'll leave the rest a mystery for now—rattling around in my brain for like a week, and I don't know if I'll ever actually write out the full longfic idea I have for it, but I'll at least post snippets and some doodles 👍

“I know I did it to you when we first met,” the sound of boots hitting the rooftop echoes behind him, “But it’s really not proper vigilante etiquette to take off someone else’s mask.” 

Mike whips around to face him—Robin, The Boy Wonder. While he’s figured out who the new Batgirl is, he hasn’t got a clue about this guy. Unless maybe it’s not just El—maybe all the Bats are connected to the lab? Robin could be a number, too.

He stares at the other boy, lost in thought, not sure what to say. 

When it must fully register that his comment isn’t getting a response, Robin shrugs and retracts his grapple, clicking it into place on his utility belt as he steps closer out of the shadows.

Mike quickly puts his mask back on, just for something to do with his hands, something to interrupt his gawking at least for a second. When he looks again, there’s now a layer between them—flimsy blue fabric that makes it a little less clear that he’s still staring. 

But how could he not? The two of them have only really met twice—when Robin had tackled him not realizing The Spoiler is a new hero not a villain, and when Robin had come to his window the following night telling him to hang up his cape. So really, this is the first time Mike can stop and take him in without some sense of urgency bleeding into the situation. The first time he can just… look.

His mask is a deep green leather molded into a sort of beak, and despite leaving a decent amount of his face uncovered, it conceals what could really be identifying—his eyes, his nose, parts of his cheeks. His warm smile is visible though, and Mike can’t help that his eyes are drawn to it. It’s just the part of his face I can see, he tells himself, but maybe that’s not the only reason. 

Robin runs a gloved hand through his gelled-back hair, a chestnut brown that Mike bets would glisten in sunlight. But Robin isn’t someone you see during the day. Bats only come out at night in Hawkins, even ones who wear bright colors. Red, yellow, and green—he’s like a traffic light.

Only now while glancing up and down as he crosses the rooftop, does Mike really register how small a guy Robin is, noticeably shorter than Mike himself. But regardless, he still moves with confidence, it makes his presence seem larger somehow—wise beyond his years.

GUYS I GOT A CALLBACK IM SO HAPPY

I DIDNT THINK I WAS BECAUSE THE EMAIL WAS SUPPOSED TO GO OUT TODAY AND I WAS CHECKING ALL DAY AND I HADNT GOTTEN AND THEN AT LIKE 7:00 i was like "ok one more check" and i still hadn't gotten an email so i thought i didn't get one but then i checked one last time a few minutes ago and I GOT ONE!!!!

i'm genuinely overjoyed

i honestly think i have a good chance of getting the role because, not to toot my own horn, i think i had among the best cold reads of all the girls auditioning

like i projected, i spoke clearly, i didn't just speak in my voice or like i was reading a text out loud like i actually ACTED it and i made sure to incorporate body movement and facial expressions and all that jazz

also i was like the fifth person to read for Erma and i gave her a sort-of boston accent and no one before me gave her an accent but almost EVERYONE after me tried to. i have the upper hand on that one because i hear boston accents a lot from family

anyway i'm literally SO HAPPY

only time will tell if i get the role or not but honestly, even if i don't i'll be very happy to have gotten a callback.

i'll be in the ensemble whether i get the role or not so I'll be happy either way

i'm so excited for rehearsals to start ahhhhhh!
