UP! Veritas Ratio studying aerospace engineering (lets pretend there's such a course here in the ph.) who's always busy with his studies but still somehow makes time to drive all the way to Ateneo to make sundo to his Atenista partner.

ADMU! Aventurine who's always pleasantly surprised to see his boyfriend waiting for him with glasses perched on his nose and book in hand. It manages to brighten the end of his day no matter what, even if his professors were giving him hell that day, one look at his boyfriend outside the school gates—ignoring all the stares from the other atenistans—will always always cheer him up. Sometimes Ratio goes out of his way to bring puto bumbong or fishballs.

UP! Ratio who teaches Aventurine how to commute using the lrt and jeepney. Aventurine hated the entire experience, it was hot, ma-usok, ang ingay at baho pero...he could feel the others soft steady breaths from where he was pressed up against him. Despite the terrible and cramped commute, having Ratio constantly in his space was certainly something he didn't mind.

He could hear the mini electric fan somewhere in this train, not that he could look for the source of that annoying sound, it was too cramped. To the point where he can't even turn because of the amount of people. His annoyance was through the roof. He can't believe he let Ratio drag him into this plan, he should've insisted harder on using his car.

He hears the mechanic voice announce their arrival to another station. Before he could even prepare he felt the world suddenly pause, feeling his body get propelled due to the stop. He expected to land on some random person's arm. Bracing himself, shutting his eyes. Instead of an awkward collide with another passenger, he felt an arm cushion his body.

Ratio was looking at him with a bemused look. His arm wrapped around him to balance him.

"Pagbabalanse lng hinde mo pa kaya?"

To add to the commute point, imagine them both sitting next to each other on a jeep, earphones in each of their ears, Ratio holding him and Aventurines bag whilst Aven sleeps on his shoulder.

ADMU! Aventurine who loves to call Ratio "my scholar ng bayan" or jokes that he's not the scholar ng bayan, instead he's his scholar and that he won't share him with anyone let alone the country. Ratio just rolls his eyes but fights back a fond smile.

UP! Ratio and ADMU! Aventurine who met once in UP town since Aventurine's friends dragged him along (ratio couldn't get him out of his mind after that) but they officially became acquainted in one of UP'S conciertos.

UP! Ratio and ADMU! Aventurine who have this special tapsilogan where they'd often have lunch dates in if their schedules permitted it. Aventurine didn't want to eat there at first but after some convincing it actually ended up as one of his comfort spots. First they went there as acquaintances (decided to grab a bite after knowing each other for a bit) then as friends then a little by little they became regulars and sooner they started having dates there. The owners know them well enough and had the liberty of watching their relationship grow (shet sana ol)

UP! Veritas Ratio who baffled every time Aventurine manages to sneak him inside the ADMU campus so that they can have a study date in the library there.

ADMU! Aventurine who mocks the oblation statue for fun just to see the look on his partner's face every time.

UP! Ratio and ADMU! Aventurine whose dates are almost ALWAYS study dates. They both are dedicated to their degrees so they don't mind it, as long as they're with each other even if no words are exchanged they're perfectly fine. Admittedly Aventurine is more on the lax side sometimes and he also goes out of his way to annoy ratio whilst he's studying (it's really just to get him to rest)

ADMU! Aventurine and UP! Ratio who constantly exchange ID straps just because they can. Got away with it for about 2 weeks before Aventurine started receiving violations in his dress code (he didn't care).

UP! Ratio and ADMU! Aventurine who both really fricking love their school and would both eat up UAAP season. They'd get so competitive over their respective schools claiming that theirs was better than the others(all half hearted jokes ofc) they'd show up to UAAP games together decked out in their school merch so it was ironic to see two people from rival teams holding hands and making landi outside the stadium. They'd definitely make the losing school pay for their next date.

UP! Ratio who'd unironically call Aventurine mahal and sinta. While Aventurine calls him love and hun (and sometimes as a joke, pre.) OR "MY SCHOLAR" x "MY ATENISTA"

UP! Ratio and ADMU! Aventurine always frequents the national museum of fine arts. One of their go to date spots actually because it's free (ratio the tipid king) and because sometimes the art galleries are completely empty so they're able to enjoy each other's presence in peace. Yes Aven yapped Ratios ear off about the spoliarium (e-heads fan x filipino art history nerd)

Some of my, oh so many, Ratio Headcannons

he knows a bunch of languages, all of which he can speak fluently

^ this includes Latin

cleans his rubber ducks VERY thoroughly to make sure they don't mold

he HATES getting sweaty, it's the only thing he doesn't like about hot baths and working out

has very strict morning and nightly routines, gets genuinely upset if they're disrupted

I think he and Argenti would have great philosophical debates about beauty (please hoyoverse please see my vision)

just straight up hates bright lights

^ prefers warm lighting over cold

I think his skin is naturally clear but he's definitely got some kind of skincare routine anyway

missed out on a lot of social opportunities during his teenage years due to his studies and such, don't think he would have had many friends (at least not his age)

big fan of parallel play, mostly because he gets caught up in his head so often, he's completely content doing different things in the same vicinity

he also uses Aventurine (or others) as a canvas of sorts to throw ideas and thoughts on, he'll start explaining something, and mid explanation he'll run into the answer, thank whoever he's talking to even though they didn't do anything, and hurry off to write it down

sometimes completely submerges himself in the bath and just holds his breath for a bit to fully clear his head

the first time Ratio uses his birth name, it takes Aventurine off guard- he hasn't heard this name in a while. he has gotten used to people referring to him as 'Aventurine', not that he has a problem with that.

he and Ratio are on closer terms now- or he hopes they are given the fact that they are in a relationship. but when he is greeted with a 'good morning, Kakavasha', it throws him off guard for a moment.

there's a feeling inside of him, one that he cannot exactly explain. or maybe he can- he feels humanized. he feels like a person. he isn't seen as someone affiliated with the IPC nor someone who endured hell for most of his life.

he feels like 'Kakavasha'. a person. a person being greeted by his partner, by his equal. it's a strange feeling, but one that he can definitely get used to.

I had a vision, so hear me out,

Ok so I hc that Aventurine would be a VERY light sleeper, even more so when there's someone else in the room. *Gestures vaguely to his backstory*

Insert "there was only 1 bed" scenario with Ratio. Aven has fully accepted that he's not getting any sleep. What he wasn't expecting was to fall asleep almost immediately and end up cuddling up to Ratio in his sleep.

Ratio on the other hand is just sitting there stuck(probably was reading before bed),  bc he dare not move and risk waking Aven up (same rules as to when your cat is sleeping on you, lets hope he doesn't need to pee anytime soon)

Anyways, that probably was the best sleep Aven had gotten in a long time.

aventurine is not only a light sleeper, hes also plagued with nightmares and often wakes several times a night. when hes sharing the bed w someone, he doesnt stay the night; so when he does end up sharing the bed w ratio for some reason hes certain he wont get much sleep - or have ratio ask questions bc the doctor is way too perceptive for his own good

a bit later and sleep finds aven easier than he thought - he got so used to ratios clean, nice scent from all the time they are together, it brings him sm comfort he wasnt even fully aware of it yet. in fact his entire presence brings him comfort so eventually he falls asleep, body curled up tight as if to protect himself still but seeking out ratios body to cuddle up to unknowingly (as if it knows ratio is "safe", safer than others, someone he can trust-)

meanwhile ratio (who had been reading yes) holds still, not daring to move. he doesnt rlly like touches much but with aventurine its different and seeing him curled up to his side, blanket wrapped like a soft shield around him for protection all the way up to his nose, soft hair falling over his face- he wants to touch him so bad; wrap his arms around him and inhale his scent, fill his lungs w him, carve every detail into his memory--

he doesnt though, not wanting to startle aventurine by suddenly touching him in such a state; instead he lets the other seek him out however he wants and when aventurine cuddles up closer and closer to him over the night, well, he cant help but melt into it

Fanon Ship children are good, very interesting to write and characterize. But what about ship pets?? What about two charecters becoming so emotionally attached to a creature that their life literally molds around it??

Cus I can't stop thinking about Ratio having a pet cat that he'd name something so goofy and serious that it's funny. Something like Theorem of Ptolemy (Theo for short) and the cat would be the most reserved girlie ever. Doesn't give a fuck about anyone, not even Ratio most if the time, and Ratio would treat her like she is a grown human, would talk to her like she is just another work colleague and she'd not even meow back at him. It's fine though, she keeps him company and after his parents the cat is the only thing he is most attached to.

Until the Annoying Gambler comes into his life Ofcourse, suddenly he has another person to care for. And just when he thinks his life is the most affected by Aventurine, the gambler comes over for whatever business stuff they are to discuss one day, and Theo suddenly has multiple Fucks to give. She'd not go near him at first, but that hasn't really stopped Aventurine, ever, so he'd try to warm up to her. And it would so backfire. Like she's now falling asleep on his lap and trapping him in one place for hours level backfire. She MUST stick to him the whole time he is over at Ratio's. Would hijack his coat but loafing up on top of it and forcing him to leave it behind.

Ratio would stand there and feel betrayed af. And he wouldn't even know who is he most jealous of, Aventurine cus that cat has never given /him/ the same amount of attention, or Theo cus he himself has never been able to shower that Gambler with that much attention. He'd grumble and would try to ignore the obvious warmth in his chest cus- two of his most favourite beings love each other???? Also soft aventurine, the real kind. Cus who wouldn't absolutely melt at a Cat.

Now, I had all of this in my mind before 2.2 so I'm only a bit salty that hoyo alr made it canon that aventurine acquires the catcakes and we all sort fo agreed that it was Ratio who gifted him those. And now my headcanons is somehow sort of canon :| but yeah, I still wanted to get this brainrot out of my head so 😋

(2) ratio, but in wolf form, kinda js collapses on aven, like she'll be sitting on the couch or smthin and suddenly there's her probably 200 pound huge wolf gf on top of her

(3) bat aven hides in ratios hair, especially when it's up in a bun, she js kinda sits up there

(4) Ratio pretends to be fully asleep while only really being half asleep, just to keep using aven as a pillow, avens chest, lap, stomach, she's not picky. But when aven starts scratching behind her ears or tells her how pretty she is, ratios tail starts wagging like crazy and it gives away that she's not actually asleep

(5) Ratios tail twitches when she hears aven come back or enter the room, it's a very small twitch but aven sees it. It makes her giggle and that just makes Ratio's tail actually wag

Ok so one I kiiind of got into in my last fic but didn't really get to go into how it would play out in their established relationship - Aventurine struggles to be verbally honest and vulnerable, so he shows his love a lot of the time by buying Ratio everything and anything. He doesn't have anything else to spend his money on - he buys things just for the sake of buying them, the feeling of owning something. So having someone to SPOIL? He loves it.

Ratio mentions the university's coffee machines are awful? There are new machines AND fancy coffee varieties on campus by the next week. Ratio mentions passing interest in wanting to carbon date a rare fossil up for auction? Aventurine buys it. Ratio's microscope is calibrated wrong? Aventurine buys him a new laboratory. Key feature of their relationship is Ratio being showered in gifts. He is the galactic sugar baby.

Also just.... they are both very touchy and clingy because they can only be like that with each other. Aventurine drapes himself over Ratio like a blanket at any opportunity, hangs off his arm like a purse, and Ratio is at his absolute happiest when he's reading a new academic article with the weight of Aventurine's head on his chest.

They will both deny this but with Ratio's lack of friends / companions, and Aventurine's Trauma, they are both very possessive of each other. (In Aventurine's case he's afraid he's doomed to lose people.) But that's okay because they're both into it. That strip of exposed skin on Ratio's side permanently has bite marks on it after they get together.

So I have a lot of headcanons for aventurine. For one he is Skinny - like, worryingly so, because of a combination of growing up the way he did and the habits that's instilled in him. He dines lavishly just to say he can, but he will NOT eat regularly throughout the day unless he's going Out to eat. He squirrels food away and only eats it when he hits that "so hungry you're getting nausea" threshold. He can't stop coming up with wildly unlikely scenarios where he'll end up without food again and he'll need a stash of it.

(Fortunately, Ratio is literally a trained chef and once they're together he regularly visits with lunch or has Aventurine over for dinner so he starts eating 3 meals a day instead of 1 big meal. Aventurine is the only stoneheart with a packed lunch lovingly made by his husband.)

A lot of my headcanons for ratio tend to be more autism and projection related. (The bust is a sensory thing. The robes are actually heavier than they look because having weight on his shoulders calms him and lets him think clearer.) But I guess one thing for him is that he Really resents how the guild is reliant on IPC funding while The Genius Society gets money thrown at them simply for the status their names have. It's one of the reasons he and Aventurine have tension at first bc Ratio is Sick of the IPC lording money over them and expecting weapons and pointless research in exchange for giving him the resources to cure another disease.
