anyway. cuckoo's nest fix-it au I've been thinking of.

everything is canon up until the party (minus a few details. cheswick never dies n a couple other things that I forget), but, instead of everyone oversleeping, they wake up on time. Mack, Chief and the girls all say goodbye and leave. Chief & Mack get the hell out of Oregon as fast as they can, only stopping for food and to stay in a motel sometimes, using money that they got from Candy & from Mack's gambling. they eventually settle down in Washington near the border of Canada and get a crappy apartment in a small town. Chief goes back to being an electrician, finishing his apprenticeship and working odd jobs helping people fix things. Mack gets a job at a factory that he hates, but being away from the hospital and being with Chief is worth it. they don't immediately start a relationship, but most nights they share a bed and there is so much romantic and sexual tension between them. Chief especially is a lot happier and he talks more, though he's still pretty quiet, but if it's just him and Mack he will talk and talk and talk. Mack loves it.

back at the hospital, Harding checks out around a month after the party. he spends some time trying to fix things with his wife, but after another month, he stops denying himself and gets a divorce. he moves north and lives in a small town where he meets a man who he falls madly in love with. they end up owning a bar together that functions as a normal bar during the day, but at night, it's a queer bar. Harding bartends and sometimes hosts drag shows, while his partner works on the more technical business end of things. they're happy.

It takes about a year before Billy leaves the hospital, but during that year, Candy visits him regularly. they develop a really great relationship and Billy loses his stutter almost entirely. he's happier than he's been in years. he leaves the hospital and proposes to Candy and they get married. they own a little house near the ocean and are incredibly happy. Candy quits her job as a prostitute and stays home mostly while Billy works to provide for them.

after a couple of years, Mack gets in contact with Candy again and by extension, Billy. him and Chief travel back down to oregon to visit them and get filled in on everything they missed. cute little reunion moment.

that's about all that I have rn it's really just something I've been musing in my head when I'm bored but I think it's cute and I am a sucker for happy endings

Like everyone was thinking about it like just because of Solusa his spark manage to stay in his body, because this big ass hammer healed his very deep wounds, but it also did something to his spark.

It helped him slowly lose any attachment to the physical world, like he knew that soon his time will come, because his mission must be done. Like not losing mind, more like slowly getting ready to live physical realm.

And Ratchet could see and feel it, that his conjuxe is different in way "he will die, but don't want to tell me to not worry me more"

But about the god thing, I think that Ratchet would be like throw whole season 3 think about such a thing MAYBE, but not really believe in it. Like he was thinking that Primes showed him something that worry Optimus a lot and not that they literally upgraded him to his almost divine form XDDD

Also i think he finally understood that he is truly a god when OP sacrificed himself kinda like Jesus, like yk... he lost his husband because his fate was to be like ultimate sacrifice for their planet and go back to Primes' 'Olympus', and yk never see him again or talk to him...

Imagine that would be so like cute, if Ratchet forced Optimus to promise him that he will come back to him on earth after they repair their home world and they gonna rest on earth first time for like ever. (to your latest post) I honestly believe that no matter how much Ratchet wants to deny it, he's just good with children. Like it's natural and logical to him. He may not like the burden, but never the kid. And I feel like he's this type of guy that gives one look to the baby and knows everything.

"ratch, can u babysit for 3 minutes?" // no way, he doesn't know how to do it, too busy, bad with kids, doesn't like them, they won't like him.

But give the mech 5 minutes and it'll be something like:

"ok I can take them from you now, we are going to the park" // no you are not. They'd rather stay in and finish their drawing. you have already been outside and they are tired. Also you bought them a pair of socks that's too big and falling off of their feet, which makes them anxious. Do better. Have you checked them for any allergies yet? It's birch pollen season and they have a runny nose. And your soups are too spicy for them.

He doesn't give a shit, or at least doesn't give an expression he does. He just keeps working, maybe with one hand, because the other is occupied by a little hand that doesn't want to let go. And if it's a sizable baby, he can fill some paperwork with a crayon the little one gave him, like it's the most normal thing to do. They tap him twice and he looks at them and he's just like "switch?" And he gives them the crayon while taking the other colour the little one handled him and continues writing with a completely straight face.

Congratulations, you just lost the title of the coolest adult to an old fart.

ratchet is EASILY the best babysitter, whether he likes it or not. he acts all crotchety when he's handling a kid, but by the time he hands the kid back to their parents, he's already figured out everything about the little scraplet. your kid won't stop sniffling at home but does fine anywhere else? kid's got an allergy to the family pet. get them on allergy meds. kid gets mad when you turn the lights on in their room? their eyes are sensitive to bright lights, didn't you realize that by now? he gets pretty heated when people don't know what they're doing when it comes to parenting.

and yes, kids just... find him cool. he'll go along with whatever the kid wants, even if he acts like he doesn't like it. coloring? board games? reading picture books? sure, why not.

(also, headcanon, but whenever kids are particularly afraid or not feeling well during doctor's visits, he has a secret stash of energon candies that he keeps on standby, just in case it helps a kid feel better. when he's on earth and deals with earth children, he switches it to lollipops.)

Random assorted Borderlands headcanons (especially regarding Pandora)

I like to think that although you never see any 'prey' animals on Pandora during a normal playthrough, they do exist and are very essential to maintaining the local ecosystem, the player characters just never have any interest in them and tend to occult them out of their view subconsciously. (Also the writers probably just didn't think about them. But shhh)

Skags are hyper-carnivorous predators, meaning they do often feud with Bandits for both territory and for food, seeing them as both alternative food sources and competitors in their social hierarchy. They have been observed to attack armed bandits with larger groups than they would with regular prey, as if there's been development in their systems to coordinate more to attack larger and more dangerous targets.

Although varkid are ruthless defenders of their territory, it's rare to see them actively attack bandits like Skags or even Spiderants do. More often than not, they're either A) Provoked into attacking due to intruders getting too close to a hive with an active queen, or B) Are in life threatening situations, but even then they tend to do threat displays first in order to warn potential attackers.

It's reported that some bandit settlements that exist close enough to varkid colonies for extended time periods without disturbance to them are often able to co-exist with the creatures more or less peacefully. (Speculation suggests that the species' scent marking may rub off on the humans after extended exposure)

Promethea used to have a lot more creatures before the industrialization boom that occurred alongside the arrival of the Atlas corporation. Due to their natural enviroment being either destroyed or too polluted to exist in, most of those species died a couple decades into that process— Most, except for the Ratch, who mutated alongisde the newfound chemicals to be nearly impossible to completely exterminate.

- It's still possible to find some of the original native Promethean fauna and flora in certain corners of the planet, but after the reinstating of the Atlas corporation, it's rare to see anyone try to go outside of the city borders, given the stark contrast between the original promethean ground and what has been man-made.

Most of the water found above-ground in Pandora is not very safe for consumption, even in lakes and ponds found scattered around the map. This is due to the fact that it is incredibly saturated with both parasites and sedimentary waste from the lands ending up being drifted into those bodies of water, which gives it a somewhat sandy and weird taste. Also it'll definetly kill you with dangerous quantities of mineral content (namely excess calcium and sulfur). Most of the actually drinkable water comes from underground pools deep below the crust of the planet, needing several people and days to be excavated for a well... or from outside sources bringing it in.

Elpis, compared to a lot of moons in the six galaxies, actually has a slightly denser exosphere than is expected for a moon. This makes it so creatures can actually exist in it, but most of them are not biological in a way that is consistent with human understanding of biology. For an example, Kraggons actually align to closer to Constructs than to Animals, being comprised mostly of rock and a magma-like material (sometimes an Ice equivalent, in colder regions of the moon), while Xuggaraths are more Magical than anything. Threshers are basically just strange plants with lots of feelings and roots specialized for the nutrient-deficient surface.

There ARE theories that the Xuggarath could be a remnant of a previous vault beast the Eridians exterminated, and then came back once their influence dissipated, but there's no real evidence of this

Dratchrod headcanons?

Okay- dis boutta be a lil lengthy! I’ll go over individuals and then dynamic

Ratchet (ladies first/j) I think ratchet had definitely had some qualms about being in a lil poly with drift and rodimus. I think that at that point in time he felt like rodimus was gonna be WAY too much to deal with. But he definitely enjoys his company now(tho he will not say it) he loves both drift and rodimus very much. He’s like the milf of the group to me even tho I like to think drift is almost the same age.

With drift, I think he’s basically the mediator of the throuple. He gives off that vibe to me for some reason. I feel like he’s the one that tells both rod and ratchet when to relax, help take the stress away (in more ways than one I suppose), the very sentimental one of the 3, not to say that he’s emotional, he’s just the one to point out nice moments they all may have!

Rodimus, he’s the one that kinda rounds out the group, he’s the YOLO, ‘please I can take it’s, let’s go do something crazy, guy. I feel like he’d def make ratchet feel a bit like he’d back in those party days with how much rodimus is willing to take/learn. But rod is also the one that voices his opinions about things openly which the other 2 learn to admire. Like this man isn’t going to not let them know he’s pissed of that they are acting a certain way. The communication is open becuase they are all comfortable!

The 3 of them are so interesting to me, and again, my thoughts are always changing. One day I’m like ‘Rodimus needs to bottom mostly’ and then the next it’s like ‘but drift tho…’ , so I’m open to suggestions and or opinions about my thoughts. And then my age thing is like- they all are close in age, but I like to think from greatest to least it’s ratch, drift, rodimus. Ratchet and drift are similar. Think of it like this- both of them are like in there 40s and rodimus is like in his late 30s. Not a big difference at all!

Gosh there are just so many questions here. I feel like this is from an ask meme where it's supposed to be a couple at a time. 🤣

This took a bit. And I am putting it under a cut.

Who says I love you first?

It was technically Rodimus to Drift, but in a noncommittal "I love you bro" kind of way that he was trying to play off as casual. He danced around it but never fully committed to it. When Drift left from the Lost Light, Rodimus couldn't say it again more seriously, though it haunted him for two years until they reunited at which point Dratchet had happened, and he shut that down. Ratchet had also teasingly told Ratchet he knows he loves him and similar joking back, but wasn't interested in him yet beyond respecting him and caring about him and distant kind of note that Ratchet was attractive.

Ratchet actually said I love you to Drift first because he left determined to be emotionally honest for once. Drift actually took longer to say it back, which upset Drift–Ratchet understood that Drift showed love–but once he got over the hump kept saying it whenever he got the chance.

Rodimus and Drift dance around it for ages, and it is pulling teeth to get them to verbalize it due to the twice burned issue and not wanting to destabilize things. Rodimus actually says it by accident because he's been socializing with Ratchet to try and force himself to "get over his feelings" by metaphorically pressing the bruise over and over by shoving Dratchet's relationship in his face as much as possible and reminding himself that Ratchet is clearly the better option by getting to know him more. Ratchet similarly wants to get to know Rodimus more as well given his importance in their lives and Ratchet's newfound determination to do better in all his relationships. These two end up spending more time together as Drift is getting interrupted, leaving it just them and finding out they both like fishing. Though Ratchet kind of is maliciously petty about it because he's determined to not be outsmarted by a fish while Rodimus finds it relaxing and Ratchet hilarious. Drift tries it and theoretically he thought it would appeal to him but he finds it mind numbingly boring.

Ratchet and Rodimus are doing this and acting a bit silly together now that they are really friends and Ratchet laughs at Rodimus's joke which makes Rodimus light up inside in a way he recognizes and just blurts out "Damn Ratch you beautiful." And them it clicks, and he mouth vomits. "Oh shit. I'm in love with both of you."

Due to the soap opera drama of the LL Drift of course overhears this.

It takes a while for Rodimus to actually say it intentionally and a lot of chaos for all three of them to assure Ratchet he wabts him too. But he does beat Ratchet to it. Drift, meanwhile, finally takes the step with Rodimus, and instead of saying it aloud does it through hand while they are alone together during the "working things out phase". So he says it openly first.

Who makes their Energon?

The all take turns getting Energon for each other. None of them are particularly interested in cooking or experimenting. So it's mostly straight cubes with some add ins for flavor that they get pre-made or at Swerve's.

Rodimus does like tasting experiments though and Dratchet brings him back food-food from Swerve's.

It's common for Driftrod to pop in and bring Ratchet Energon. Ratchet in turn often brings them snacks when he knows they are having long "game sessions" which Rodimus really enjoys and Drift thinks is fun but doesn't often seek out himself.

Who is the early bird/who is the night owl?

Against conventional wisdom, I say that Rodimus is the early bird. Why waste life sleeping? He is also the night owl along with Ratchet. He does not sleep enough.

Ratchet is much easier to convince to sleep in and only gets up early when scheduled. He also is prone to staying up late.

Drift has a regular schedule and is an absolute disaster in the morning if woken early which no one believes but that's because he gets all his pissed off "I am awake and it is everyone's problem" energy out before he leaves the room.

Who is the big spoon/little spoon?

No set pattern. All three take turns.

Who loves to cuddle?

Rodimus does after sex. It is an absolute necessity, and any other exercise that wears his energy out leads to cuddling. He relished it then and the ability to just linger and enjoy. If he has energy, though, he can only stay for so long.

Drift is initially a bit more standoffish at first but enjoys it more over time. He loves using Rodimus as a space heater or wrapping himself over Ratchet.

Ratchet, though, is the biggest proponent of it, and once he's comfortable, he loves doing it anytime, anywhere. He has absolutely no problem cuddling Rodimus in the Captain's Chair while doing paperwork or having either of them perched on his lap while at Swerve's or curling up into each other. He loves lazy morning sleep ins cuddled together.

Who hogs the blanket?

Drift. Definitely Drift. Rodimus overheats easily so often ends up kicking them off, and Ratchet can sleep without them. Drift has issues with temperature regulation, though, and finds wrapping up comforting.

Who wakes the other one up with kisses?

All three have.

Who usually has nightmares?

All of them, though, at different frequencies and triggers. Life left scars, and they all need different comfort following one.

Who likes sweets?

Ratchet and Drift.

Ratchet because he has a sweet tooth. He can it the most closing disgustingly sweet monstrosity with a straight face and genuinely enjoy it.

Drift actually can't taste sweetness, but he likes the energy burst that comes with them. He keeps them on him for assurance and to snack on in between fueling.

Rodimus actually can't stand sweetness. The fuel he grew up on was mixed with a very saccharine chemical filler to dilute it and it makes his fuel tank upset now. A little he can handle but it has to be balanced out.

Who likes horror movies/who likes romance?

Ratchet and Rodimus eat up horror and are the kind of people who talk the entire way through criticizing or joking about the ways the deaths go. Drift is white knuckling and veey invested in survival.

Drift likes romance of all kinds. He enjoys the guarantee happy ending in pure romance genre. Rodimus enjoys romantic comedies and is actually very into period romances with complex social rules and melodrama. Ratchet usually falls asleep during them.

Who is small/tall?

They are all about the same height?

Who is considered the scaredy cat?

I'd say none of them. Rodimus likes being jump scared because he laughs and thinks it's fun but Drift has a more hair trigger reaction to it. None of them are "scared cats" though.

Who is the most affectionate?

Hard to say because they each show affection in their own way. Drift is probably the most "traditionally" demonstrative of his affection, though Ratchet and Rodimus also get plenty of PDA complaints.

Nicknames?

"Ratty" - "Kid" | Dratchet

"Roddy" - "Ratch" | Rarer Ratchrod

Who is most likely to carry the other?

Ratchet. He enjoys it too as Driftrod are always delighted when he shows off his strength.

I think we all know the answer to that. The funny part, though, is when Ratchet realizes he's become a sugar baby. Rodimus has no qualms once Drift and he work things out.

Ratchet. Both times. Mostly because Drift got tongue tied.

It's Ratchet and Rodimus. It’s a cute headcanon but unfortunately not what’s going on—he likes his fangs just fine! And he’s not actually an anomaly in that sense—fangs like his aren’t uncommon in gold/red-eyed individuals, esp. in Military-based Cold Constructs (Starscream has them too!) and some members of Military Legacy Families (which may hint to Drift’s murky parentage).

The headcanon names for The Pale City residents.

The Hunter: I decided to give him the name Mervik Voorhees. Naming him partially after Dave Mervik who was one of the writers for both LN and LN2, and Voorhees being a reference to a certain summer camp slasher.

The Teacher: I named her Ms. Ratched, a reference to Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which was the original inspiration for The Teacher.

The Doctor: I chose the name Julian Finkelstein for two reasons, Julian being named after Julian Robotnik from the Sonic SaTAM cartoon, which is also my headcanon voice for him. Finkelstein being a reference to Dr. Finkelstein from A Nightmare Before Christmas, because they have a similar mouth design.

The Thin Man: I decided to name him Mononoke, because according to Japanese literature, Mononokes are vengeful spirits as well as other things but this one makes sense in context with LN2. Thin Man wants revenge for Six leaving him in the Signal Tower, also being Mononoke has Mono in it.

this is going to be soo shocking to hear from me (the #1 hospital AU lover and perpetuator) but i have consumed very few medical dramas. again this is very surprising bc you will absolutely catch me making hospital au headcanons for any piece of media i'm in to, including my own OCs. (pediatric cardiothoracic nurse practitioner sokka you have my heart). this is mainly because i have a stupidly low tolerance for romance which can override my love for medicine. however. if you have any recommendations i will absolutely take them.
