Ranmaru Kageyama and his transgender swag
I have it in my head that all his shirts are crop tops, and if a shirt isn't cropped, he takes a pair of scissors and cuts it himself

Congrats to Zabuza for winning the Kiri dad poll! Much deserved; he is the originator of the archetype. Now it's time to show love for the adoptees in the kiri dad relationship!
To reiterate: a kiri dad relationship in which either the adopter or the adoptee is from kiri, and they protect each other/work together to achieve a goal, usually in a way that's a little bit fucked up.
oh no i just realized i forgot to put guren on the other list, i was going to put yukimaru on this one for her... aaghghgh ok no one voted for kobuna last time so sorry little dude, yukimaru's going to replace you on this poll. if anything this is more proof that this shit just keeps happening! kiri characters are some kind of magnetic!

Fabulous Females
Summary:
Being a woman in a man's world isn't easy.
(But who needs easy?)
Tumblr media
Rating: Mature Fandom: Naruto Relationship: Tenten & Kurotsuchi & Karui & Kurosuki Buntan & Temari & Karin, plus a host of others! Word Count: approximately 16K (Complete and posts one chapter daily)
This story is for @spookythevoidsinger, @dawen, @dominaaurum, @greencuttingmat, and @kurakura0-0, all of whom chimed in on my discord server as I was writing it and suggested so many of the ideas which made it into this story.
Truly, it takes a village.
Tumblr media
Kurotsuchi creeps into the room, silently thanking all the gods that the daimyo of Hatō no Kuni is arrogant enough not to pay for proper guards. If this monstrosity of a castle was being patrolled by shinobi from Amegakure, this would be a lot trickier.
As it is though, he puts far too much faith in his nobles and their soldiers.
She crawls down the walls, careful to avoid placing even the slightest pressure on the nightingale floor - she doesn't want to give herself away now, not after she spent so much effort getting into a country she has no business being in - and stretches her hand out for the pot which rests in the tokonoma.
An unassuming brown and made out of simple clay, she has trouble imagining that this is one of Kumogakure's greatest treasures, a tool handed down from the Sage of Six Paths himself. But everything her people have been able to discovers says that it's the Kohaku no Jōhei, and she smirks as she lays a hand on it.
Only... it doesn't move.
Is it... stuck?
She grabs it with both hands and yanks, only to find herself tugged in the opposite direction.
"Sorry, but this one's mine." The amused voice is low for a woman, but unmistakably feminine. "Don't you see our symbol on it?"

I'd like to know if there's anything you'd like to do with Aburame Chiyako, even if it's a project that's infeasible for you? (she's my favorite character to come out of DoS, bar Shikako herself)
Hi loveelemental! :D
I also love Chiyako: she is one of those parts of DoS that just really hit home about how much consideration and detail SQ put into making Naruto into a full and expansive world. And also she is very cute.
(,,> ᴗ <,,)
I did write what’s behind (and what’s before) which is Chiyako-centric, but that doesn’t really lend itself to further expansion/installments. Or, at least, none that interest me at this moment in time.
As I mentioned before, I would maybe want to do a Chiyako POV in the bleak!Primadonna-verse, mostly because it would be a lens to do further political shenanigans—what with Chiyako being the heiress to the Aburame but also, now a fully fledged adult jounin with a team of genin, some of whom would ALSO allow me to frame political shenanigans. But I suppose, just being able to write that team would be fun even without the bleak!Primadonna-verse.
A but to that but, though, is I don’t really know what that plot would look like—if it’s a mission fic, what mission is it? Or if it’s a time/dimension travel when/where do they go? Or, are they the “hosts” receiving the wayward travelers? In which case, who are those travelers? Since it’s Chiyako, I would assume Shino and Shikako because I will forever, forever, love JohnBurtonLee’s I Got You their dynamic in that is SO GOOD. SO PERFECT. A+ fic forever, forever. However, for symmetry’s sake, maybe it should be a different Team Eight—either the canon one we see with Team Kurenai, or my headcanon Team Hana with Chiyako, Hanabi, and Ranmaru.
I feel like I’m not being fair to her. Because god knows I’ve spun off at least a half dozen varying concepts around Aoba, for example, but it’s like… she is one of the rare cases where meeting Shikako has given her stability in her life? Like… most other characters when meeting Shikako are thrust into wild situations and are forced to either adapt or submit to the chaos pretty quickly. But for Chiyako she: has a cool new role model, doesn’t get bullied anymore, a regular invite to the kunoichi club, playdate/training sessions with several of her classmates (and possible future teammates) who seem to like her back. There’s not much drama there…
I mean, there’s clan politics that could be interesting—but I also feel like the Aburame are so logical/steady that there’s not much drama there either?
Ooh, I guess there could be like… a Chiyako-centric fic (feat. Hanabi) which nominally is a Team Hana fic but is actually about how Chiyako and Hanabi are foils for each other. Heiresses to their clans instead of their older siblings, but with vastly different relationships with said older siblings. Their respective clans themselves are similarly foils of each other: the Aburame reviled externally but internally warm with each other, the Hyuuga with their pretty privilege and position of being Konoha’s current most powerful bloodlimit allowing them to get away with a literal slave/torture seal. And of Team Hana they do have the sun-coded vs moon-coded vibes of the team.
Hm, yeah, I think something exploring Chiyako and Hanabi’s dynamic would be the most compelling to me—whether that is in a “canon” fic or a warring clans era AU or the bleak!Primadonna-verse or…
Okay, so this may be because I’ve been reading a lot of trash manhua lately, but I think that dynamic would be best displayed in that one unnamed royalty/nobility Shikaara AU (in which the tabloids have made minor-nobility!Shikako and youngest-brother-of-the-Sand-Queen!Gaara literally bumping into each other during Temari’s coronation the sort of fairytale romance of the century). BUT instead it would be about, a different aspect of the AU in which two young duchesses-to-be maneuver the difficulties of being nobility and teenage girls and also, unfortunately, paparazzi exist.

Poderes oculares

16, 20, 28 and 29 for the naruto ask thingy ⚘
16) how long have you been into naruto
screaming sobbing throwing up ive been into this stupid show since MIDDLE SCHOOL. My tastes have changed tho, Sakura was my fave when I started the show, and then I rewatched the show in high school and fell head over heels for Tenten.
20) do you own any naruto merch
no but I want that one Tenten figurine SO bad, and I'll prolly get a rock lee or neji figurine at some point.
28) favorite filler episode
it's a hard choice between shippuden 184 and shippuden 237. Both are Tenten-centric episodes (ofc), and they both focus in heavily on her insecurities/struggles and how she deals with them.
29) favorite arc
I really liked the Curry of Life arc from the original series fillers, those episodes gave Tenten a lot of screentime and fights, and were also a fascinating look at her personality. They give her really nice moments with Ranmaru which show her morals and her thought processes, and it's cool to see.

so my favorite arc in the whole series, the curry of life arc, is my fave because it has this amazing tenten character moment in there where we get to see tenten’s worldview and opinions.
she has this quick bit of dialogue with ranmaru about how she hates when people are weak and indecisive, and she hates people who can't function on their own. Now admittedly there's a bit of an ableist undercurrent to what she's saying but I don't really think she's knocking people with chronic illness. I think she's talking about people with a mentality like haku, where they only live for one person, and when that person is gone, they don't have a purpose.
she doesn't like people who are blindly devoted to one person or people who can do things and function on their own but willingly choose not to. this moment also shows a lot about her mindset, how she values self-sufficiency in others, and by extension, herself.
later, in the next episode, she yells at ranmaru about his lack of wanting to live, telling him that he doesn't get to just choose when he wants to die because the people he helped raiga kill didn't get that choice, and as punishment, he won't either.
it’s a really unique tenten moment in the series because most of the time she’s a background character played for comedy or her serious character moments focus on her training failures and how she deals with them. it’s rare that we get to see tenten’s worldview and philosophy stated directly in the series, and in fact, this is the clearest that we ever get it. most of the time we just have to extrapolate based on her actions, but here she just says it out loud, and even argues with naruto about it.
tenten is such an interesting character to me even though we don't get to see much of her development as a person and as a ninja the snippets we do see even if intended to be comical show her to be strict and self-critical but also aware of her own limits. the way she ponders her self-worth and deals with failure is so realistic, at least to me. she takes failure hard (who wouldn't??) but ultimately bounces back from it. like yeah sure they're ninjas and whatever but she's still a 17 year old girl wondering why every one is so far ahead, wondering why she is so slow. like she may not have much screen time (an atrocity) but i find that there's a lot more to her than the done with everyone member of team gai. BUT maybe im biased and looking too deeply into it because she's my favourite idk. at the end of the day even though I would've liked to see more of her and her abilities I don't mind making a meal out of scraps yknow

Making a Move (in the Opposite Direction)
Summary:
Crows are not a migratory species.
(But they'll move if they need to.)
Takes place in 1919 and 1920.
Tumblr media
Rating: Mature Fandom: Naruto Relationship: Hoshigaki Kisame/Uchiha Itachi Word Count: approximately 10K (Complete and posts one chapter daily)
This story is for @dominaaurum and @kurakura0-0 who introduced me to both Kagura and Shizuma. It's also for @denialcity who kindly gave me permission to use their idea about how a particular song becomes a love song that the whole Uchiha clan knows, as well as @misttiddies, @dawen and @shinigami-mine who inspired the scene in chapter 12.
Itachi lays out the morning meal, keeping his anxiety to himself as much as he can.
His hands are steady as he places rice and fish at everyone's places, his back is straight and his movements graceful, but he knows that his fretting is still visible in the overly precise positioning of each dish.
Hinata-kun pats his wrist, a gentle reassurance, and he smiles at her ruefully. She can read him just as easily as he reads her, even without their dōjutsu, and they both know it, but he can't bring himself to act naturally today.

I genuinely think Naruto had something going for it when it took characters like  Gaara, Haku, Ranmaru,Isaribi,Naruto,  Sasuke to an extent, and said “children devoid of love and a support system tend to latch on to the first sign of affection they recieve” and also that “they’re vulnerable to manipulation by others and deserve some level of sympathy even if they commit deplorable acts later on due to said manipulation”
