Transformers: Cybertronian Reproduction, Sex and Gender labels

This has been on my mind for a while. What’s the in-universe reason for transformers to have sexes and genders? Meta reason is obvious: it’s an 80s children’s toy franchise aimed at young boys. Of course the characters are needlessly gendered!

Ranting aside, what’s the in-universe reason? As far as I know, as a member of a sexually dimorphic species, there really shouldn’t be. Every CANON reproductive process removes sexual intercourse from the equation. And Cybertronians all fill some role regardless of gender. If sex/gender serve no purpose for survival or civilization, what necessity does it have? What purpose/niche is it fulfilling? Sexes exist because of sexual reproduction. And genders, from my understanding, are cultural concepts built from the existence of sexes. (I think, I could be completely wrong about this-Feel free to correct me/give your own takes in the notes)

I like how James Roberts tried to handle this; Cybertronians got exposed to other races, and got encouraged to explore themselves and their identity. Definitely helped fixed the damage Simon Furman caused. (Females went extinct and Arcee was forcefully turned into one wtf?!)

My personal headcannon is that Cybertronians didn’t have sexes or genders because they don’t reproduce sexually, and thus didn’t develop a culture built around sexes or genders. Once they developed space travel and discovered other species, they learned about sexes and genders and got HUGE gender envy! They started incorporating aspects of sexes and gender into their society and that’s how we got the Transformers we know today. (My explanation for why the Thirteen and Guiding Hand are gendered is because of cultural osmosis. It just became part of the culture and no one questioned it.)

Note: I specified Canon because fanon is its own can of worms, with its own rules. And it destroys the purpose of this question. Mostly. There are other things with that that I’m not qualified to explore or explain.

Usually I'm a dead on main kinda person but I can't get this out of my mind

But I need a Danny x Bruce au of Yours, Mine & Ours

In short, it's about two people reuniting, falling in love again and marrying while their children of 8 and 10 (separately) do their best to break them up

Bruce has his whole flock of course

Whether Danny has Ellie, Dan, maybe other clones, children he picked up along the way is up for interpretation

I can see Ghost King Danny adopting ghost kids for sure and have them run around in his haunt in the Realms

Or instead he has Connor (cuz who can resist having an older Danny adopt this little guy) and throw Billy Batson in there too for fun. Cujo is there for sure

Perhaps Danny and Bruce aren't even married yet

Just lingering feelings that are obviously still strong

Either way, the kids are trying to break them or perhaps they're actively trying to get them together

The latter seems more likely. They just want their parents to settle down already and it's obviously up to them cuz just look at them dance around each other

aw thank you!!🥹💖💖im happy to hear it! and NO i wont kill you, you are so right. the garreth/leander/clora hangout was my fav part of the chapter and also the most fun part to write, and it gave me an appreciation for the leander and garreth dynamic, which is amazing

i now headcanon their relationship like brothers LMAO, garreth constantly badgering leander and getting on his nerves, while leander is just exasperated in dealing with him (BUT IN A FRIENDLY WAY) theyre like characters in a sitcom tbh BAHAHA (and to anyone wondering, im gonna TRY to have the next chap up within the first week of feb!🙏 ive just been busy with the dark relic comic + work + and now i feel a bit under the weather. ive been sleeping almost nonstop for the past 2 days LOL oop)

I literally texted my beloved and posted on tumblr that my interview went well.

Within half an hour I was convinced it has actually gone terribly and also panicking about picking one mattress place over the one I know better and being scared about trying to learn a new system while simultaneously being excited by the idea of having money again and also scared I won’t keep applying for rigging jobs when the industry picks up.

Phantom getting a little belly after about a year or so on the surface. His pants fit a little more around his thighs (and perfectly around his ass if you ask any of the other ghouls). His cheeks look a little less gaunt, he just starts to look softer. His vessel begins to look well loved and cared for.

Frankly, I think we should get a trilogy of these Ninjago movies, the first one devoted to a retelling of the pilots, the second a condensation of s1, and the third a condensation of s2.

Idk how they'd go about it but yk... maybe remove like All the filler eps and make s2 Solely Dark Island arc ? Maybe for the s1 movie it would have to be BROAD strokes of the story... no clue. They'll figure it out.

I think it'd be perfect for the most iconic seasons of Ninjago in the public conscience to get a big screen retelling. Also I want the Overlord. Oh also they shouldn't sideline Nya! A trilogy would be the perfect opportunity to make three whole movies where Nya is the main character now
