All of Easy Company being extra protective of Gene Roe and Ralph Spina after seeing their other other medic, Al Mampre, get blatantly shot in the leg just outside Nuenen while he’s obviously tending to Lieutenant Brewer.

Like I’m sure they feel like the medics are damn near invincible with how they’re able to run through a battlefield without taking a single hit. And to see one shot in a situation where it’s impossible to mistake them for a regular soldier must be a little terrifying.

[I thought I'd pop in this deleted clip from the drafts of the movie and give some context.

In the early scripts of the film, Ralph and Vanellope had to win the parts of their kart by engaging in various minigames. Retrieving the engine from the center of the Candy Corn Maze was their first task. Cornelius Cobb was an eccentric scarecrow farmer who owned the Candy Corn Maze in Sugar Rush. However, Cornelius and the Maze were ultimately cut from the final film due to script changes and time constraints.

In the deleted scene of the film where Vanellope, Ralph, and Felix head to the maze, King Candy has apparently taken on the guise of the farmer. Vanellope demands what he is doing there, and he responds with "Usually I don't preside over these challenges, but I wanted to make sure you had a fair shake!".

In sharp contrast, he proceeds to make every effort to sabotage Vanellope and company, including setting the Black Licorice Crows and Skittles the Uni-Candy-Corn on the group. What happened to the real Cornelius Cobb is unknown, but it is implied that King Candy took his place because he felt the farmer wouldn't try to stop Vanellope from racing.

Skittles was a vicious, fire-breathing uni-candy-corn from Sugar Rush who acted as King Candy's pet and familiar. He is seen in the cut scene "The Maize Maze", in which he is brought into the corn maze to hinder Vanellope and Ralph's quest to get an engine. He was ultimately cut from the final film due to time restraints and changes to the storyline. Contrary to his appearance, Skittles is extremely hostile and savage. His only alliance is with King Candy, who treats him as his loyal steed, and later on, he supposedly grows close to Felix. Skittles does not hesitate to attack any enemies of the King, and uses his razor-sharp teeth, sharp candy horn, and fiery breath as weapons.]
