Release: July 15, 2011
Lyrics:
Lipstick junkie
Debunked the all in one
She came back wearing a smile
Looking like someone drugged me
That wanted to unplug me
No one here is on trial
It's just a turnaround
And we go, oh
Well, then we go uh, uh, uh, uh
Tick-tock, I want to rock you like the '80s
Cock blocking isn't allowed
Tugboat Sheila is into memorabilia
Who said three is a crowd
We better get it on the go
Hey now
We've got to make it rain somehow
She told me to
And showed me what to do
How Maggie makes it in her cloud
I said, hey now
We've got to make it rain somehow
She told me to
And showed me what to do
She knows how to make it loud
Rain dance Maggie
Advances to the final
Who knew that she had the goods
Little did I know
Her body was one delicious vinyl
To your neck of the woods
I want to lick a little bit
Hey now
We've got to make it rain somehow
She told me to
And showed me what to do
How Maggie makes it in her cloud
We've got the wrong girl
But not for long, girl
It's in the song, girl
'Cause I'll be gone, girl
Hey now
We've got to make it rain somehow
She told me to
And showed me what to do
How Maggie makes it in her cloud
I said, hey now
I want to rock this rowdy crowd
She told me to
And showed me what to do
She knows how to make it loud
But not for long, girl
It's in the song, girl
'Cause I'll be gone, bye-bye-bye, yeah
Bye-bye-bye, girl

YOURE TELLING ME THAT CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE DANCE AMONGST THE STARS AND THEN A SMALL PLANET IS BORN????!!!!!! And then it RAINS HEARTS?!?!
Peter Anderson: Hi, my name is Peter Anderson. I'm from Peter Anderson Studio and we created the title sequence to Good Omens Season Two. So this scene is quite literally a continuation from Season One.
Tumblr media
An interesting detail with this scene is the fly. The fly is significant because it stores Gabriel's memory.
Tumblr media
Gabriel is hidden in every scene. This is the first time we see it.
Tumblr media
This goat is half bird, half goat, representing a mistake in a moment of transformation.
Tumblr media
In the pickled herring barrel, we have literally red herrings sticking out.
Tumblr media
A lot of the gravestones have hidden engravings, easter eggs, all written by Neil.
Tumblr media
[This one says: HERE LIES THE FORMER SHELL OF BEELZEBUB referncing Beelzebub having a new face in S2 :), another ones are: EVERYDAY, JANE AUSTEN, Here lies ADAM (the Adam from Adam and Eve is meant)]
Another hidden Gabriel.
Tumblr media
Our same character that was trying to escape Hell in Season One titles is also trying to escape here, moving in the opposite direction to the rest of the procession. Except this time he's apprehended and dragged back into the procession.
Tumblr media
Our Hell spider from episode four makes a little appearance in the background here.
Tumblr media
Can you tell where the bus is going? Director Douglas McKinnon selected Powell and Pressburger's Stairway to Heaven to put on the billboard.
Tumblr media
Another thing to note here is the type is all handmade specifically for Good Omens. The Alphabet only exists within the show.
Tumblr media
The big floating turnip is a nod to Azirafel's magic tricks.
Tumblr media
The Ladies of Camelot poster we pulled from the show.
Tumblr media
We added plaques to the back of the chairs and Neil chose who to honour.
Tumblr media
[There are: A TALE OF TWO CITIES by CHARLES DICKENS, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by JANE AUSTEN, THE CROW ROAD by IAIN BANKS (twice!) and GOOD OMENS by TERRY PRATCHETT (Neil missing for some reason :) <3)]
Saraqael made an appearance from Heaven.
Tumblr media
Our Space is back from Season One. Aziraphale and Crowley are having a little dance here. A moment of flirtation. There's a tiny planet in the middle that comes into existence at this moment.
Tumblr media
Our Scottish tartan hills make an appearance here.
Tumblr media
The aeroplane and the airline is a little bit of a clue here.
Tumblr media
[THY KINGDOM AIRWAYS 👀]
It's raining love hearts in reference to Aziraphale's attempt at making Maggie and Nina fall in love.
Tumblr media
Here are elevators to Heaven and Hell. A wee thing to spot. Here is Gabriel in the lift arriving from Heaven.
Tumblr media
We've updated our flags to reference some of the plotlines in Season Two. For example, The Second Coming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The movie poster artwork changes every week, representing the episode plotlines and the minisodes. We made the posters to look like the time period and in this case we've got a Good Omens version of Buddy Holly.
Tumblr media
[The posters are:]
Tumblr media
In the snack bar some of our popcorn is actually communion wafers.
Tumblr media
There are specific characters from Season One in the boxes watching the movie as the procession goes by. This includes some of our original concept art from Season One.
Tumblr media
The duck playing the accordion is from a newspaper headline that someone is reading in The Dirty Donkey from one of the episodes.
Tumblr media
[this is also from the Good Omens book :): "Daily Mail. 'Letter From America.' Um, August the third," said Newt. "Just after the story about the woman in Worms, Nebraska, who taught her duck to play the accordion."]
Each episode is showing a new movie on the screen, each one selected by Douglas, and has clues about what's to come.
Tumblr media
The season one phone box tumbles in the background.
Tumblr media
The big mountain is made of all the ingredients from Season Two and a couple of remnants from Season One. We are heading towards the biggest Easter Egg, which is the lift. We're heading towards the Second Coming..

Heyyyyyy I’d really like to talk more about the ball, who’s with me.
Because for all its glitter, the ball is dark. No, seriously, it’s dark. It’s eerie, it’s disturbing, and the narrative doesn’t shy away from showing us just how much.
As in a classic fairytale, mortals are being spirited away into another realm to dance through the night. Here, however, we see exactly who is orchestrating the dance, and why.
And we empathize with him, but watching Aziraphale has never been so painful or so unsettling.
Nina arrives distraught and is immediately hit with the realization that she doesn’t feel distraught, even though she knows she should be feeling it. She confronts Aziraphale and he just tells her: oh yes! :) no long faces tonight! And she is disturbed throughout the ball, thinks she is losing her mind, questions and fights the enchantment… but from time to time, the enchantment still takes hold.
And just—
Aziraphale. Aziraphale, you do know that manipulating people is wrong, don’t you? You… do know that? And yes, of course, neither Crowley’s nor Aziraphale’s approach to morality is human. They are eldritch, they are otherworldly. It was Crowley who changed the paintball guns into real guns in S1, though of course, the humans still had choice in using them.
But the ball is still different.
We’ve never seen Aziraphale do anything quite so disturbing before, or go so obviously deep into his own delusion. There are moments during these scenes when even Crowley, permanently frustrated, is very nearly disturbed. (“Angel! What are you doing?” or “Making it rain is one thing, but a BALL?”)
I fully think that by that point in the story, Aziraphale is not all right. He is in an anxiety spiral, denying reality fiercely, obstinately, disastrously, not listening to any of Crowley’s hissed warnings. Yes, yes, he is giddy, he is in love. It’s so very important for him that everything go RIGHT this night, the night he gets to dance with Crowley. Is he even aware of everything he is conjuring up, of the enchantment he has woven? The humans who step through the doors of the bookshop change: their clothing, their mood, their speech patterns… By this point, is Aziraphale doing this consciously at all? Or is reality conforming to his expectations, forcing everyone into a replica of the nineteenth century while Aziraphale himself, distracted and smitten, works himself up to inviting Crowley to dance?
In the first few episodes, as fear and danger grow, as Aziraphale is faced with the danger specifically to Crowley (I don’t see why he would risk his existence for you, Shax tells him in the car), Aziraphale only denies reality all the more fiercely, only holds on to his plans tighter, only puts more force into them and exerts more control (really, rather like the archangels with their Great Plan).
And the ball, beautiful and otherworldly and eerie as it is, is also a dire warning.
In the morning, it will be Crowley, not Aziraphale, who will get told off for manipulating Nina and Maggie. Aziraphale won’t reflect on this. He won’t be forced to reflect, and Metatron will manipulate him in turn.
There is a plan to follow. The show must go on.
GOD the ball is so dark.

Thoughts on my second watch of Good Omens 2
i heard the fly buzzing in my first watch but didn’t know why and now i know
Maggie my sweet darling angel baby i love you
Aziraphale turning their car yellow
crowleys “no more dying” in extreme scottish.
Disposable Demon i’ll save you from these awful people i promise 😭
Aziraphale’s little smile when he says “smitten” to Crowley
i wonder if crowley was especially hurt because aziraphale seemed to be able to forgive gabriel who tried to kill him but can’t seem to forgive him being a demon.(still seeing all of this as a metaphor for internalized homophobia, like aziraphale knows he’s not the perfect angel he wants to be and he’s projecting his feelings about that onto crowley)
I can’t believe we got an actual ball. like pride and prejudice, bridgerton ball.
the beautiful score that started playing when aziraphale brought the chandelier down
i didn’t even realize that when they walked in the outfits changed. mrs sandwich made me realize(also i love her)
Nina being the only one to question the weird magical shit Aziraphale and Crowley do sends me so bad.
Season 2 took everything i liked about the first season (aziracrow, queer subtext, gay people, archangels, and beelzebub) and expanded on it
The adorable smile on Aziraphales face when he asked Crowley to dance 😭 he’s so pure(i should have known something was up, everything was going too well)
Crowley saying i won’t leave you on your own and Aziraphale saying i know 🤒
why isn’t aziraphale able to miracle nina and maggie??
crowley and mrs sandwich flirting. too cute
crowley saying he’s neither nice nor a lad.
crowleys little run in heaven when he’s following muriel
maggie giving the middle finger to the demons and laughing in their face when they tried to belittle her. queen
defensive aziraphale is so badass. just because he’s soft doesn’t mean he can’t stand up for himself or the people he loves
the random guitar solo in the final episode theme is so bizarre to me. why is it there?
ahh the raining hearts symbolizing crowleys vavoom plan!
crowley’s heavenly outfit not being white but “light grey”
the relief in aziraphale’s voice when crowley came back 😀
also him mumbling about the halo like he did with the sword 😭 but he sure loves to boast about the things he’s done right to crowley
aziraphale and crowley doing magic together has the power to set off alarm bells in heaven and they barely tried, they’re just in sync
saraqael was such a good addition to the cast.
crowley smiling at aziraphale going off on the angels and demons
“where beelzebub is, is my Heaven.” 🥹
the little knowing look after crowley mentions alpha centauri
the way they just interrupted michael’s speech by leaving 😭
i think that aziraphale was about to ask crowley to move in but that’s my opinion
the look the metatron gave crowley is so strange. i don’t like that
“JUST US. NOT YOU.”
“You’re not helping, angel.”
the softness in aziraphale’s voice when he talked about making crowley an angel again? how can you hate him! he thought he was doing the right thing!
also the miscommunication these two have is completely out of hand because crowley asked aziraphale if he said no and aziraphale hadn’t given an answer AT ALL to the metatron. the metatron told him to take his time. he went back to tell crowley the news first.
crowleys confession makes my stomach hurt. the way his voice broke when he said “we’ve spent our existence pretending that we aren’t.”. the way he had to force himself past his anxiety to tell aziraphale he wanted to spend eternity with him? fuck.
the way aziraphale tells crowley to come with him. like and through all of this they are losing each other, oh my god.
“i need you!” god aziraphale punch me in the face next time why don’t you?
i feel like in all this anger towards aziraphale a lot of people are ignoring that he put himself out there too. he was telling crowley he needed him just like crowley was
“no nightingales.” FUCK YOU GAIMAN
the way aziraphale touched his lips after. dear GOD. someone get michael sheen an emmy
seeing aziraphale struggle against his wanting to kiss crowley back and his fear and wanting him to come back to heaven further supports my internalized homophobia analogy
also even knowing the kiss was going to happen because of the spoiler it still didn’t quell my shock. nor did it ruin the scene, i think it actually surprised me more because it did not happen how i thought it would.
side note i saw some people saying they thought the kiss was going to be a cop out in some way. like a body swap or as a joke and i don’t really know why?
it just occurred to me that both aziraphale and crowley thought the other one was just doing that thing they do where they say they won’t help, or they’re on their own but they eventually come back not knowing that the other was completely set on these plans they had. this wasn’t like armageddon or saving gabriel.
the second coming…of jesus…
crowley cutting off “a nightingale sang in berkeley square”...i’m gonna jump
this being the ending for the next 3-4 years. oh.

also that crowleys method to make nina and maggie fall in love (caught in the rain shelter under a canopy) and aziraphales method (go to a dance and spontaneously realise theyve misunderstood each other and are deeply in love) both involve zero talking. its all realisations. theyre both just waiting for each other to figure it out.

X-Files OctoberFicFest Day 10: Aurora Borealis
They climb out the window to sit on the roof like teenagers, Scully in the vee of Mulder’s legs with his arms around her. She leans back against his chest. The actual young people are in the back pasture, having a bonfire. Mulder and Jack spent the afternoon watering a wide circle around the fire pit, just in case. Neither of them are under any illusions that the younguns will be on their best behavior. Jack’s a bit of a wild child, for starters, and he’s their child, so he’s too smart for his own good. But they’re both proud of how far he’s come.
Grace is with her Uncle Charlie and her cousins at Maggie’s house. It seemed like the best solution; Jack and his friends are rowdy, and Grace never goes to bed when her brother’s out of the house. She wants to be with him all the time. He tolerates it pretty well, but still, bonfire night isn’t for littles.
“Like old times,” Mulder says in her ear.
“Mm,” she says. “Playing hooky, just the two of us.”
“Better, though,” he says. “Look at what we get to come home to.”
She rubs her hand up and down his thigh. It’s still firm under his jeans. “Too happily ever after for you?”
“Au contraire, mama bear,” he growls softly. “It’s just right.”
She smiles to herself and lets her head loll on his shoulder.
“Do you think it’s going to happen?” he asks.
“If it doesn’t, it’s still nice up here.”
He kisses the side of her head. “It is.”
They sit and wait, watching the sky. It is like old times, in some ways. They used to stargaze like this. She remembers the dancing lights in Idaho. She still can’t explain them, although she has some hypotheses. She flinches sometimes if she sees a satellite—she’s seen Mulder do it too—but tonight she feels entirely safe and utterly content.
“Look.” His voice is hushed. “Oh, Scully, look.”
In the dark sky, a sudden sifting of color: red, purple, pink, green. Sheets of shimmering pigment ripple against the velvet backdrop of the night. It’s gorgeous. It’s unreal. Tears rise in her eyes. She can hear whooping from the back pasture as Jackson and his friends catch sight of the lights.
“I never imagined it would look like this,” Mulder says, awed.
“The radiation from the solar wind excites particles in the plasma of the magnetosphere,” she says. "Those particles precipitate into our atmosphere. Borealis pertains to the wind, but it's really more of a rain, in a way."
“It’s magic,” Mulder says.
“I didn’t say it wasn’t.” She cuddles against him. “When you think about it, the odds are astronomical, Mulder. Here we are, on the roof of our house, after decades of a life where that wasn't even a possibility, on a planet that’s just the right distance from the sun to enjoy the benefits of the radiation, and we evolved such that these lights, this phenomenon, occurs in the visible spectrum of wavelengths that our eyes can see. And we have specialized cells in our eyes that allow us to perceive these specific wavelengths as colors, and a brain that can fill in the shades between.” She tilted her face to kiss the broad sweep of his jaw. “I can call that magic, or even a miracle.”
“I think all of this is a miracle,” he murmurs, wrapping her up in his arms.
She’ll kiss him later, when the lights fade, the two of them mellow with the poignant contentment of middle-age. They’ve earned their peace. For now, they watch the aurora dance, and the stars hold no malice.

A list (non-exhaustive) of why the 1941 flashback scenes are haunting both me and The Narrative, Part 1:
1. Both S1 and S2 have scenes that take place that night - THAT CERTAIN NIGHT - in 1941. It is specifically revisited in S2, which leads the audience to believe that night was of particular importance, both to Crowley and Aziraphale’s relationship and to the overall plot of the show.
2. In the same vein of things that are referenced more than once, the song “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” was first released in 1940, and it’s entirely plausible that they both heard it for the first time in 1941 while in each other’s company.
All evidence points to the song being personally significant to Aziraphale and Crowley. We know it as Their Song, and they seem to think of it that way as well - otherwise Crowley’s “no nightingales” comment in the last 15 minutes of S2ep6 would not have struck Aziraphale so hard; we can see by his expression that the words affect him. With that statement, Crowley seems to be referencing not only the song itself, but possibly also a specific memory they share that involves that song.
Tumblr media
At first, one might assume he means the occasion at the Ritz at the end of S1, because that song is indeed playing in that scene. However, I think that scene itself is also partially a reference back to 1941, which I’ll get to in a later item.
3. When examined closely, many scenes and plot elements from the rest of the show may be nodding to 1941. When Crowley and Aziraphale discuss ways that humans fall in love in the pub scene in S2ep2, Crowley references being caught under an awning in the rain, a very transparent callback to Eden when they huddled under Aziraphale’s wing.
Tumblr media
So, Crowley’s contribution harkens back to Eden, but what does Aziraphale mention? What is called to his mind when he thinks of falling in love? Cotillion balls. Music and dancing. Things he’s read about in Jane Austen novels, the moments therein where the protagonists realize they’re in love. On its surface, Aziraphale’s idea of falling in love seems more like an abstraction than something the angel has experienced himself. Except: perhaps he has. Perhaps, just like with almost everything Aziraphale says and does, we should be looking at it much deeper than surface level.
Tumblr media
Maybe he’s projecting just like Crowley is, just in a less straightforward, more opaque sort of way, which you have to admit would be very in-character of him. Maybe he’s thinking of a moment we have not directly seen yet, a moment that has only been gestured to. In other words, “a joke the paleontologists haven’t seen yet,” the paleontologists in this case being, well, us. We know Aziraphale is actually capable of sleight of hand in the right circumstances, so maybe him talking about a ball is only a feint, a flamboyantly waving hand as a distraction to keep our attention away from what the other hand is doing. Maybe he is also recalling a specific memory of himself and Crowley, one that involved music and dancing, and the realization that the feeling between them was love.
Tumblr media
So with all that in mind, what moment from the show do we have great reason to believe was Aziraphale’s realization of his own feelings, and to an extent, Crowley’s as well? Yup, you’ve got it: 1941 again. The aftermath of Crowley rescuing him at the church and saving his books. The face that launched a ship. (Sorry.)
Tumblr media
4. Backtracking slightly to the topic of music and dancing and The Ball, let’s talk about this: just like Crowley “did a rainstorm” to try to get Nina and Crowley to fall for each other the same way he fell for Aziraphale, The Ball may have been Aziraphale’s effort to recreate the occasion on which he realized he’d fallen for Crowley. Perhaps it was intended to be a “do-over” of past events where they almost connected, with the aim of finally reaching each other this time. We’re all aware by now that while Aziraphale did fully intend to get Maggie and Nina together, he also threw a ball specifically to dance with Crowley.
Tumblr media
It does initially seem odd that he thinks Crowley will respond well to such a big, ostentatious party, but perhaps Aziraphale has tried the subtle route before to little avail. Like when, you may well ask?
5. Well, for one: their rendezvous in 2008, right after the Antichrist arrives on Earth, in S1ep1. Crowley has been unsuccessful in convincing Aziraphale to help him avert the apocalypse, but the angel has fewer qualms about a lunch date at the Ritz.
After the Ritz, they go back to the bookshop, with Aziraphale telling Crowley he still has some Chateauneuf du Pape left “for special occasions,” which is an interesting comment - the reason why this is a special occasion to Aziraphale is never named, as Crowley glosses over it in favor of pointing out that nobody will be having any wine anymore if Heaven wins the upcoming war. Aziraphale reiterates his refusal to engage with that topic, and ushers Crowley into the shop.
All this leaves the vague impression that Aziraphale has his own agenda for the evening (because all appearances of passivity aside, the angel almost always has his own agenda). And Crowley, not noticing this or perhaps choosing to not notice it, is throwing a spanner in the works of said agenda by continuing to bring up the apocalypse. And so, stuck at this stalemate, they drink the ‘special occasion’ wine in the shop, and listen to music, and get very drunk. It’s a small detail, but we know the music is coming from the gramophone because it’s the same record Aziraphale was listening to when Crowley called him the night prior.
So, wine and music. Why are these elements significant? It isn’t named, but in S2ep4 when Aziraphale and Crowley have returned to the bookshop after the magic show, the bottle of wine they share in the back room is the same kind, Chateauneuf du Pape.
Tumblr media
And while there is noticeably no music playing when the two of them are sitting in the quiet, private, candlelit back room of the shop, the gramophone can be seen over Aziraphale’s shoulder in many parts of the scene, looming over their conversation like a musical Chekhov’s gun.
Tumblr media
And here’s the real kicker: the gramophone, as it happens, is normally positioned facing the opposite direction. In bookshop scenes from the rest of S2, even earlier on in that very same episode, we see it facing the usual way, in the direction of Aziraphale’s desk.
Tumblr media
This means that it was intentionally turned so that the “mouth” of the gramophone would be visible in this scene, and turned towards Aziraphale and Crowley. You may well ask: “the background of this scene is dark and out of focus, how can you tell for sure which way the gramophone is facing?” If you look closely, you can see the gramophone’s crank is on the right side, visible in some shots past the lip of the wine bottle. If the gramophone were facing in its usual direction, the crank would be on the left and invisible in these shots.
Tumblr media
And, to add another layer to it, we know how important cranks are as a symbolic object in this series, how much power these objects can hold in the hands of the correct wielder. Crowley turns a crank to prime the engine of the universe - in other words, to begin the music of the spheres; and much later, he uses the Bentley’s crank when he restarts time on the Tadfield airbase. What if the gramophone’s crank was used in a similar way in 1941, to temporally create a little universe of their own, either metaphorically or literally?
Great care was taken in planning every aspect, every little detail of this show; almost nothing is a coincidence; staging scenes especially is done with the utmost degree of care. All of this to say, we as the audience seem to be meant to relate the scenes from 1941, 2008, and 2023 narratively, even though they take place decades apart. Throughout the years, Aziraphale may be trying - subtly at first, but then less so - to recreate the events of 1941.
Okay, that’s items 1 through 5. I definitely have more but I hit the limit for gifs and images for posting via the mobile app, so I’m going to have to post the rest in at least two more parts. Because I still have ghosts in my head and I must write about it. Hauntings are easier to handle if there’s someone in the house with you who sees the ghosts too.

- 1941 apology dance
- What happened between 1941 and “too fast for me”
- Queen’s Too much love will kill you
- Reference to (not) going too fast

A ramble of major spoilery thoughts after the prime premiere screening (episodes 1+2)
Under the cut. Very big spoils, I’m warning you.
My head is jumbled after the masterpiece I witnessed and all I’ll summarise are reactions and some stuff y’all already know from other screenings
Episode 1:
CROWLEY AS AN ANGEL OH MY GOODNESS HE WAS SO HAPPY AND JOYFUL AND HIS HAIR WAS STUNNING. Aziraphale definitely had love heart eyes at him and the whole “oh look at you, gorgeous” thing was legit. Crowley said that and Aziraphale smiled thinking it was aimed at him and then turned as he realised what he meant, the whole cinema room went awwwwww.
No one told me Gabriel fucking rubs his naked self fully against Zira whilst hugging him, I actually died.
GOOD OLD FASHIONED LOVER BOY DOES PLAY WHEN CROWLEY IS RUSHING TO THE BOOKSHOP TO PROTECT AND APOLOGISE TO AZIRAPHALE. AAAAAAH
The whole cinema erupted in laughter when Crowley had to do an apology dance and I was screaming. He did end it with a ballerina pose I cannot. Aziraphale said he had to do that apology dance in 1650, 1793 and 1941 (so I hope we see that in the 40s minisode)
Aziraphale being all adorable listening to his records before he got interrupted by Gabriel aaaaaah
GABRIEL SAYS “I LOVE YOU” TO AZIRAPHALE AND ZIRA SAYS THANK YOU and then goes “I…hmm” SAVE IT FOR YOUR HUSBAND
Aziraphale is so sweet with Maggie but he has no fucking clue how to be a landlord i stg. Maggie also mentions the lockdowns, so the lockdown audio clip is canon.
Episode 2 Part 1 The Minisode:
The way Aziraphale enters this episode, dramatic ass bitch
I absolutely loved Azicrow’s initial argument about Crowley being evil and killing the goats and then the reveal he never killed them. ZIRA’S SMUG FACE BECAUSE HE KNEW CROWLEY WOULD NEVER HURT ANYTHING. Plus why do they look like they’re gonna kiss in that argument, I saw Zira looking at his lips… maybe his beard
Ty’s character is so camp when flirting with Zira oh my goodness
Gabriel’s long hair reveal got the crowd roaring
CROWLEY TEMPTED AZIRAPHALE INTO EATING AND HIS REACTIONS OH MY GOODNESS
The way they work together to trick the angels into thinking the kids are brand new is comedic gold
The very final scene of the episode is absolutely stunning. They’re both vulnerable and I love the line “I’m a demon, I was lying” comes back in so many ways this episode
CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW EVERY REVIEWER SAID FRANCES MCDORMAND WASNT GOING TO BE BACK AND YET WE HEARD HER AND SAW HER NAME IN THE CREDITS
Episode 2 Part 2 Present Day:
CROWLEY SLEEPING IN HIS CAR, MOVE IN WITH YOUR HUSBAND DUMBASS
AZIRAPHALE CALLED THE BENTLEY “OUR CAR” and said he learned how to drive 90 years ago
Crowley’s romantic wooing involves a downpour of rain, sheltering under an awning and looking in to each others eyes to realise whats been there the entire time… ARE YOU OKAY CROWLEY
Crowley didn’t know Jane Austen wrote novels and knew her from a crime background. He picks up Pride and Prejudice in Aziraphale’s bookshop aaaaaaah
When Gabriel is alone alphabetising Zira’s books, he comes across P&P and reads the first sentence. THEN PICKS UP ANOTHER BOOK AND ITS THE FUCKING GOOD OMENS BOOK. NEIL I CANT BELIEVE YOU DID THIS
Anyway these are my initial reactions so sorry for the ramble. I hope y’all who haven’t been to a screening get to indulge and look forward to whats coming in just over a day now!

"What If"... Aziraphale really wanted to confess in S2 Ep5?
... and they wouldn't have been interrupted? Now, hear me out. Aziraphale didn't know that demons were waiting outside, which is why he didn't share Crowley's worries. Let's just pretend for the following scene that the demons never threw the brick because they simply couldn't do any harm to the bookshop and were forced to wait for the doors to open.
Crowley had made his way through the dancing people and appeared right behind Aziraphale, who watched the scenery with a smile. "Making it rain is one thing, but a Ball with..." Crowley tried to find the right words for that absurd scenario he was in. "Look, there's something wrong. There is something really wrong." Aziraphale tried to breath even, he felt nervous as he thought about his plan once again but he was ready to shoot his try.
"Well, perphaps you could tell me" he began even before turning around to look at Crowley. "... while we dance." He looked expectantly at the demon.
"You don't dance" Crowley said sceptical, brows furrowed.
Since the reaction wasn't exactly a 'No', Aziraphale grabbed Crowley's hand excitedly and dragged him along to join the others dancing. A wide smile was spread across his face, unable to hide the joy he felt. This was perfect, utterly romantic even.
Crowley was more than just confused. Everything felt so odd, not to mention the danger awaiting them outside the bookshop. If his angel would just listen... They were safe for now but this evening couldn't last forever. Overwhelmed by the entire situation, Crowley somehow just went with it. He knew they could dance, he knew they weren't part of the miracle, yet Crowley was surprised how well they knew the steps and moved together. And that it didn't bother him at all to dance with his angel in an utterly exaggeratedly cheesy situation like this. His hand lay softly on Aziraphale's, fingers slightly curled around his hand. Their touch so softly, so gentle and not even planned but Aziraphale noticed every detail of it, his heart racing as they moved. First, he thought Crowley had curled his finger like that by accident but with every new time their hands touched, Crowley's fingers curled around his hand again like it was the most natural thing. Their eyes met and did Crowley just blush? Aziraphale's heart sure skipped a beat.
Actually, Aziraphale was curious to see how Maggie and Nina were doing but he couldn't take his eyes off Crowley. He looked so handsome and everything about this moment felt so good, he wanted it to last forever. Knowing that this was impossible, Aziraphale tried to capture every little detail to at least remember it whenever he wanted to.
"Hell has sent demons" Crowley said gravely and disturbed Azirphale's thoughts. His brows were furrowed, jaw clenched. If Aziraphale wouldn't have been so caught up in the moment, he would've realized that Crowley was actually really worried. "They are milling around outside, they want Gabriel."
Nevertheless, Crowley didn't stop dancing while talking. It was like the angel was guiding their way and the two of them never having done anything else than spending the evenings dancing together. "We're perfectly safe in here" Aziraphale tried to reassure the demon. He couldn't help the smile that still lay on his lips out of pure joy for this moment. He was dancing with his demon. "Technically, this bookshop still counts as an Embassy."
"I think you need to stop this charade" Crowley said sternly, seriously worried "and we need to work out what to do." And still, his fingers curled around Aziraphale's hand again, this time even somehow more as he really tried to hold onto the angel.
"I am not giving them... Jim" said Aziraphale strictly. He began to get mad, not as Crowley especially. But this wasn't how he imagined the moment to turn out. He wanted a dance, romantic moments, a moment of peace. With him!
"People will get hurt, angel" Crowley almost hissed whilst their faces were a lot closer than usual. Aziraphale felt Crowley's hot breath on his skin before they were more distant again.
"I think you're overestimating how much trouble we're actually in" Aziraphale tried to calm the demon. They were safe in there.
Once again, Crowley raised his eyebrow, giving the angel a sceptical look before turning his gaze towards the window next to the entry of the bookshop. Aziraphale followed his gaze. He could sense the presence of demons, he could make out that they were waiting outside but that was the point. They were outside.
"See?" Aziraphale stated and before he could lock eyes with Crowley again, his gaze met Nina and Maggie, dancing and talking. A smile was on Maggie's face as they were so close and even Nina was somehow smiling throughout their conversation. It worked! Joyfully, Aziraphale faced Crowley again, smiling widely.
"You're way too happy about the situation" Crowley said but joined Aziraphale as he began to dance again to the soft tones.
"Well, my dear, I think what you don't see is that my plan is working and Nina and Maggie... how did you say? Vavoom."
"Vavoom?" Crowley asked and Aziraphale nodded proudly. Crowley looked over at the two mentioned women and indeed, they did not only look like having a good time but as if something had changed between the two of them. The demon couldn't help the small smile forming on his lips as he watched them, suddenly forgetting about the danger outside. Could it really be that Aziraphale's weird plan had worked out?
Aziraphale looked at Crowley the entire time, admiring the dimples appearing as soon as Crowley began to smile and his forehead softening. He felt his heartbeat fasten once again as he admired not just what was in front of him but that things seemed to work out.
"Well, now look at that, angel..." Crowley muttered, still watching the two women. "Looks like you really know what you are doing."
"You think so?" Aziraphale asked happily. Did Crowley the demon actually truly appreciate his actions?
The latter finally turned his head to look at the angel and when their eyes met, even though Crowley still had his sunglasses on, Aziraphale's heart stopped beating for just a second. It was one of those rare moments where Crowley was truly happy and enjoying the moment, no hint of malicious glee or sarcasm, no falsehood to pretend he wouldn't care or like what was happening. And to Aziraphale, he looked so wonderful in that moment, that he fell even harder, if that was even possible.
"Don't like to admit it but looks like it."
"Crowley..." Aziraphale mumbled, his cheeks blushing. The song was slowly coming to an end and Aziraphale was sure Crowley would then start talking about the demons outside again. Right now, at this very moment, this was his chance.
It was Aziraphale that curled his fingers around Crowley's hand this time, allowing even some soft pressure on them and when he did, it was Crowley's heartbeat that fastened, himself unsure to keep the eyes on the angel or their hands, surprised by the action. "I was thinking..." the angel continued slowly, choosing his words wisely. "About us. I was thinking about us, I mean."
"Us?" Crowley asked, brows furrowed once again but automatically holding tighter onto Aziraphale's hand as his heartbeat fastened even more.
"Us. As in you and me. And I realized, not that I hadn't noticed it before, but in all this time I could always rely on you. You were always there for me. Put your trust in me, helped me. And... even if you don't want to hear it, you're not so bad after all. And you show that to me every day." Aziraphale realized that the music was about to end in less than a minute. Time was running out. "Crowley, having you by my side makes me happy. I-" The courage left him; the last notes of the music starting. Now or never! "Vavoom" Aziraphale muttered and quickly shook his head. Too late. The composition came to an end and Crowley had heared what Azirpahle had just muttered, even though Azirpahle had multiply practiced what to say earlier. He blushed instantly.
"Vavoom?" Crowley asked. They had stopped dancing, a new composition started to play but they just stood there, hands still touching mid-air. Too caught up in the moment to realize what was happening around them. It felt like time stood still, even though a new composition started to play. A slight smirk was in the corner of his lips, not giving away how fast his heart was beating. Was really happening what he was thinking was happening?
"I..." Suddenly, Aziraphale felt very shy. Almost ashamed by his choice of words.
"Yes, angel?" Crowley asked, left eyebrow raised.
Aziraphel felt Crowley's fingers curled around his hand, softly holding it, felt his gaze through the sunglasses but did not notice that Maggie and Nina, even though they were still dancing, were watching them as well now.
"Do you think this is their first time?" Nina asked Maggie. "I mean, he told me they don't date but look at them!"
"I think they are about to kiss!" Maggie said with a mixture of excitement, surprise and joy. "We... We should look away" she said and adverted her gaze quickly.
Aziraphale put down his hand and placed his fingers around Crowley's glasses instead. Carefully, he put them down. "Angel..." the demon whispered, trying to stop him, trying to stop people from seeing his eyes but he was too caught up into the moment and too distracted from Aziraphale right in front of him.
"I want to see your eyes..." Aziraphale whispered, their bodies much closer now than before as he had come closer to take off the sunglasses "...when I tell you that I love you, Crowley."
"You-" Crowley repeated softly before his eyes widened. "You do what?" He didn't even wait for Aziraphale to repeat his words. He might would change his mind then. Not giving that a chance. Instead, he grabbed the angel by the collar and closed the distance between them by pressing their lips together.
Vavoom, indeed.

Ok I’m back.
*Good Omens series 2 spoilers*
I slept on it and I’ve settled a bit with the kiss scene. Even though I still feel ripped open and aching over the whole thing. It was giving us what we wanted but in the most excruciating way. (Thanks for that, Gaiman)
In all seriousness, I loved the season. The entire story and smaller stories throughout. I know it’s building for something greater too. I trust Neil implicitly to make it right in s3. I’m just gonna be in panic mode until it’s confirmed. And by make it right I mean literally Crowley and Aziraphale making amends. I don’t mean to say what happened is in any way wrong. It’s exactly how it would play out, it’s just not happy and fluffy. It’s REAL. Neil did an amazing job (hurting us ha) bringing that to the screen. And Michael and David.
I’ve wrapped my head around the idea a bit more and it makes sense that Aziraphale would still fight it. It’s his m.o. He needs time to acclimate and catch up to Crowley. It just hurts. I’m hurting as Crowley. He’s always ready to jump. To make the move. He always put his heart on the line for Aziraphale, albeit a bit more subtly. He wants Aziraphale to choose him like he’s done for the angel so many times before. Wants to be loved and accepted. By the only person who would, could and SHOULD. Ow.
But honestly it’s been this long and they’ve gone through so much together a little longer isn’t too bad, right? And hey, we got ineffable bureaucracy canonized???? That’s… incredible. I won’t even get started on that here and now. This season WAS romantic. For so many different reasons and pairings.
Nina and Maggie are another good example of relationships done realistically. Not like in the movies. Neither avoiding rain under a canopy or dancing at a ball is going to make Nina magically move on from her seemingly very toxic (narcissistic/abusive?) recent ex. And if she did it wouldn’t be a very healthy start for her and Maggie.
Once again, praise Gaiman, for somehow mixing traditional notions of romance and love with reality so seamlessly. It didn’t have that feeling of cold reality some movies and shows do when trying to prove the point of “not all endings are happy.” And it wasn’t just ooey gooey either. Brilliant. The man’s just brilliant.
Ok, I’m gonna wrap this up cause I could go on. There’s sooooo much more I could touch on and this was supposed to be short. After decompressing a bit I’m looking forward to rewatching the whole thing again knowing how the storylines all play out.
