what about jealous Romeo)?
It's happening! I've already started on it and actually have the beginnings of a moodboard from this shoot 😅. I'm just focusing on finishing up the piece for Halloween and then I'll finish this up 💕

I have a theory that the majority of people who're incredibly adamant that characters (ie. Romeo and Hamlet) are adults are the same idiots who think Shakespeare is some complex enigma that only professional scholars should ever even look at.( Because what teenager could EVER TRULY understand what death is. or something). idk. just something about elitism. even though most of his original audience was illiterate. this is a huge stretch but maybe thats why The Winter's Tale isn't as popular, because both Perdita and Florizel are both very explicitly 16 but maybe thats just me.
#og#hamlet#prince hamlet#r+j#romeo#meta#the winters tale#perdita#florizel#NOT saying you can't interpret said characters as adults. i can vibe to a hamlet in his 20s but refusing to see other's pov is weird

Singing a Sad Song
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2SoqjQOnBR/?igsh=MWYxeWE3cnplMHl6Zg==
Rachel posted her own song about a year ago & it has been on my mind all day. It isn't a happy song. She deserves to be happy. She deserves love & support from the people around her and from the people she cares about.
She has been subjected to a ridiculous & undeserved hate campaign for years now, and the ugliness will keep getting worse as the release of Snow White gets closer. I really don't know how she stands it.
On a more positive note: When is she dropping an album? Seriously, girl, talk to Jack about it.
I really hope the link works. If not, the video from January 19, 2024, is posted on Rachel's Instagram, and you can hear it there.

as i keep punishing myself by reading many, many awful romeo and juliet retellings/re-imaginings i keep suffering a fate of "oh wow i like this characterization" or "oh this plot concept is so cool" only to be absolutely smacked in the faced with a plot device so strong that it ruins the entire story and by that i mean the heterosexuality*. illustrated as the following:
like the soup (story or characters) is so good and i am having so much fun and then suddenly theres cake in my soup. and like cake is fine i would be okay with it if it complimented the soup but it does not.
*i am not referring to the typical canon heterosexuality of the literal original story i am talking about forced heterosexuality that the authors literally did not need and more often than not they are creating very queer substories or characters and then just make a sharp right turn into 'and they want to marry [insert not even really plot convenient opposite gendered character] and have babies' even if in the 100-400 pages prior they showed no indication of that. it has happened in quite literally every retelling i have read so far
#romeo and juliet#r+j#romeo and juliet retellings#shakespeare#i would not be reading these if it was not for the genuinely cool research they are a part of for me#but since i am reading them u are all here to suffer my complaints

oh baby, I will wait impatiently... and remind you of my existence)
Oh absolutely do remind me! I have the memory of a hamster most of the time 😅 I know sometimes people have GOT think I'm just here like myehehehehe fuck them and their ask/story/prompt/whatever but no legit seriously,,,, I forget 😩 If it's been longer than a week or two and I've said nothing? I've probably forgotten. So yes just remind me love!
#reader-mary#i think you'll like this#it's properly melodramatic and angsty but also with smooches and torrid love affair things#also Costia Capulet (Clarke's cousin and Lexa's old point of infatuation) makes an appearance. so figure that one out 👀#r+j

hello! i was curious, since your name comes from tybalt capulet, have you ever seen any of the versions of the musical?
theres probably several different romeo and juliet musicals out there but my fixation is specifically on the french 2001 musical that was adapted into 1 billion different languages. my favorites specifically are the italian, hungarian, german & japanese takarazuka versions. do not bother with the english dub of this musical the translations are horrible. also i think & juliet is garbage and it shouldnt count as a romeo and juliet musical

J. R. R. Tolkien: no, my books aren't about the war I experienced. It's just a story
J. R. R. Tolkien's works: you cannot go home, war ends entire bloodlines, you are mourning the death of your brother alone, you dug into the earth and permanently scored the land, you cannot explain what you have been through, you cannot go home, "that wound will never fully heal. He will carry it the rest of his life", leaving the women behind does not save them, the young die first, you cannot go home, the parent will bury their child, you have lost the wives and you will never connect with them again, "how shall any tower withstand such numbers and such reckless hate?", you are not the same, you cannot go home, you can never go home, your father will only side with those he sees as worthy bloodlines and you cannot change his mind, it is more meaningful Not to kill, sometimes your sacrifice accomplishes nothing, you cannot go home
