Does anyone else think it's kinda weird the royal family hasn't done anything more public or elaborate to honour Queen Elizabeth's passing?
Like they have huge Westminster Abby services of thanks for Prince Phillip and others yearly but for the Queen its just a private church service. Feels like a slap in the face to me.
#maybe im overthinking it#just doesnt seem right#very low key for a woman who gave 70 years to the thrown#british royal family#queen elizabeth ii

✶ ─── TOMORROW X TOGETHER AND WHEN YOU LOOK MOST BEAUTIFUL TO THEM
pairing(s). txt x gn reader genre fluff warnings. none(?) wc. 100-200 each
type. headcannon , reaction
a/n. guess who wrote something *everyone applaud* please enjoy this I forced myself to write it because I haven't posted anything since queen elizabeth graduated high school 🥰
★ YEONJUN could already stare at you for hours on end — you always looked so effortlessly beautiful in his eyes, they can't help but wander back to take you in every now and then. You're the prettiest thing he's ever seen, but there's something different about you right now. About your furrowed eyebrows and small pout, about your fleeting gaze, stuck between your laptop screen and notebook as you read over the problem for the nth time hoping it will all magically make sense soon. You look outrageously adorable to him right now, laser focused on solving this equation of letters and numbers so you can move onto your next set of notes. He'd pull out a chair and sit next to you every time, resting his head against the palm of his hand as he watched while you busied yourself with whatever you needed to get done. Sometimes he'd sit and stare in silence, others he'd fondly brush the stray strands of hair away from your eyes so you don't have to, but every time without fail, his eyes would be trained on nothing but you.
★ SOOBIN loved taking care of his skin. It felt like a checkmark in his day, the last task at hand before he could melt into his bed and forget his worries until morning. He instantly felt lighter after taking all his make-up off and gently applying his moisturiser, but doing it with his favourite person makes just that much better. He especially loves when he doesn't have the energy to do it himself, leaving you to do it for him. Fingers gently tapping the products into skin with care, with the occasional kiss on his nose, but what he loves most of all is the sight of you, bare faced and sleepy. Some days he'd feign exhaustion just to stare into your eyes and hold your waist while you massage serum into his skin. He loves you no matter how you look of course, you're always beautiful to him. But being barefaced with each other is intimate, especially when he has to look his best everyday
★ BEOMGYU was never fearful about the sun exploding in 70 something million years, why would he be when he had the replacement right in his arms. Your smile was more than enough to sustain life and light up the solar system. His theory may not be scientifically correct, but in his eyes, it was simply the truth. What a heinous crime it is that you don't own multiple peace prizes for this sight alone—it never failed to make his heart beat out of his chest every time you graced him with its presence. He gets teased to no end by the guys for being horrendously down bad and staring at you with 'goo goo' eyes whenever your lips curl upwards, but how could he help himself? He's sick in the head, mind stuffed full of you and that pretty smile. It's his kryptonite, his one and only weakness, and no one knew it better than you after walking home hand in hand with your brand new jigglypuff plushie and -62837 won in Beomgyu's wallet.
★ TAEHYUN was so weak for things like this. Even under all those muscles he spends hours perfecting at the gym, he's rendered completely and utterly powerless. Weak for holding you closer, weak for pressing a kiss to your forehead, weak for you nuzzling your head further into his chest, weak for falling asleep with the person he adores more than anything next to him, safe and sound in his arms. He always fell asleep much later than you, because he has no self control and can't help but stare. Ever since he'd met you, he's become a morning person. Not because he enjoys starting his day early to be more productive (or to spend another 86 years in the gym) but because he gets to wake up like this. Your limbs tangled in each other, soft breaths against his neck, covered in the warmth of his duvet and comfort of each other. And if you'd allow him to, he'd spend every morning like this for the rest of his life, and die a happy man.
★ HUENINGKAI is a fan-favourite. And while his band mates make it well known who their favourite maknae is, for the sake of their feelings he tells them he loves them all equally, and keeps his favourite a secret. A secret from everyone but you, who just so happens to be said favourite. And his favourite sight on his favourite person? The face you made when he revealed his secret to you. The way your eyes widened, the knowing smile that crept its way onto your face, your nose scrunching in delight, if he could have that moment tattooed on the inside of his eyelids, he'd probably forget what the world looks like from having his eyes closed all the time. He loves this look on you, how excited you get when talking about the drama going on with your classmates or your masterplan to take over the world. Your eyes twinkling and hands flying all over the show because your emotions are just too strong to keep them confined. It might just be his favourite sight of all time, and while he's itching to screech about how adorable you are, he'll keep it his little secret for now

This is so funny because like you can't SAY this but at the same time yeah of course that was your reaction. I can only fucking imagine getting elected as Prime Minister and within a week queen Elizabeth DIES. Like she's had 70 odd years in which to die and she fucking did it in YOUR tenure. I'd be screaming at her coffin calling her a slag.

"Royal Family persuaded Queen to end her days at Balmoral"
Princess Royal discloses Elizabeth II feared making life difficult if she died in Scotland
by Hannah Furness, Royal Editor
The late Queen was persuaded to spend her final days at Balmoral as she and the Royal family made preparations for her death, it has emerged.
Queen Elizabeth II had initially feared "it would make things more difficult" if she died at her beloved Scottish home, the Princess Royal has disclosed. Her family eventually convinced her to put her own comfort before her concern for others after a lifetime of duty.
Speaking of her mother's last days in a BBC documentary about the coronation of King Charles III, the Princess described how the family had tried to persuade her that practical issues "shouldn't be part of the decision-making process".
It is the first time the Royal family has spoken of arrangements for the late Queen's death.
Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral in Scotland on Sept 8 last year, aged 96, after reigning 70 years.
She had extended her annual summer stay at the Aberdeenshire estate, where the Prime Minister asked to travel to Scotland to spare her the journey back to Buckingham Palace for what turned out to be her final engagement.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren had visited Balmoral over the summer, as concern for her health grew. The Duke of Sussex and his family did not make the trip, having fears over their security.
At the time, the palace described the Queen as having "episodic mobility problems", with a series pf cancelled engagements in early 2022 giving way to a peaceful summer without expectation she would appear in public.
In September, she invited Liz Truss, her 15th prime minister, to form a government from Balmoral, breaking with a lifetime of holding the audience in London or Windsor. Then, it was said the Queen had been advised not to travel, with plans for Boris Johnson and Ms Truss to make the 1,000-mile round trip to Scotland instead.
Now, speaking in the documentary, the Princess Royal has paid loving and characteristically practical tribute to her mother.
"We always enjoyed being at Balmoral", she says in a programme to be broadcast on Boxing Day. "We spent a lot of time there in our youth and a lot of it was probably a more independent life than anywhere else. I think there was a moment where she felt it would be more difficult if she died at Balmoral. I think we did try to persuade her that that shouldn't be part of the decision-making process. So I hope she felt that was right in the end, because we did".
The Princess was the only member of the Royal family to be at Balmoral when it became clear the Queen was entering her final hours.
The then Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall made an emergency journey from Dumfries House in Ayrshire, with other senior members of the family arriving after she had died.
Speaking of the moment at St. George's Chapel when the Crown Jeweller removed the crown, orb and scepter from her coffin, the Princess told BBC One programme Charles III: The Coronation Year: "When he takes the crown off the coffin, I rather weirdly felt a sense of relief. Somehow that's it, finished. That responsibility being moved on".
Speaking of her brother, who became King instantly, she added: "To be honest, I'm not sure that anybody can really prepare themselves for that kind of change. At least no easily. And then the change happens and you go OK, I know need to get on with it".
The documentary will share behind-the-scenes footage of the King's preparation for his Coronation in May.
The Princess Royal is the only member of the Royal family to be interviewed on camera. The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh appear in footage, with no sign of the Duke of Sussex or Duke of York.

21 April 2024
The first statue of Queen Elizabeth II since her death has been unveiled to the approving barks of nearly 50 corgis.
The permanent memorial to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch – complete with her own immortalised dogs – has been hailed as a fitting tribute for the “mother of our nation.”
The eye-catching 7ft bronze statue went on display on what would have been the late monarch’s 98th birthday, with a group of her favourite dogs stealing the show.
It takes pride of place outside the library in the market town of Oakham, in Rutland, Britain’s smallest county.
It depicts a youthful Queen Elizabeth – who stood at just 5ft 4in – standing at 7ft in regal robes with three loyal corgi companions at her feet, one peeking out from the creases.
It serves as a permanent reminder of her 70-year reign and her enduring affection for the Pembroke Welsh breed.
Sculptor Hywel Pratley believes the memorial will become a hit not only with royal fans, but that it will attract social media users wanting a selfie beside the late monarch and her dogs.
Speaking before the unveiling in front of a 400-person crowd and with a host of local dignitaries attending, he said:
“The plinth is designed to be sat on and I can see the statue becoming popular with the Instagram generation, and why not?
It will make a perfect backdrop for pictures and people will be able to reach up and pat a dog or if small enough even sit in its back.”
Mr Pratley, 51, who is half Welsh and lives in Chelmsford, Essex, told how he chose to add the corgis for a “bit of fun and to tap into the late Queen’s humanity and address her friendliness.”
He explained he made the statue larger than life because a “life-size Queen Elizabeth is too small. She deserves more.”
The £125,000 statue was commissioned by Dr Sarah Furness, the Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland, following the Queen’s death in September 2022.
Addressing the crowds in the spring sunshine, she said:
“We are witnessing a piece of history today with the first statue of Queen Elizabeth to be commissioned since her death and who gave us 70 years of exemplary service.
Rutland may be a small county, but the response to this had been huge with contributions from local businesses and individuals of varying sizes.”
As she spoke, barks from 46 dogs from the Welsh Corgi League rang out, and she said, smiling: “You can hear them!”
She added: “The statue is for everyone.”
Before his cancer battle had been known and made public, King Charles III had been invited to unveil the statue.
It is not known if Palace officials had agreed to the request.
Instead, the honour fell to Alicia Kearns, the Tory MP for Rutland and Melton, before being blessed by Debbie Sellins, the Bishop of Peterborough.
One resident, Hilda Townsend, said: “It is just wonderful. We are the tiniest county, but the first to honour the late majesty in such a big way. It is a very fitting tribute.”
Her husband, John, added: “It is absolutely amazing and, as Rutlanders, makes us extremely proud.”
The unveiling of two of the three bronze corgis was given to two young children who had won a local school art competition.
In an emotional speech, Ms Kearns, 31, said:
“It is an incredible statue of our beloved Queen, who showed unwavering commitment.
We hope we can reflect on her legacy of compassion, strength and leadership. The statue was no mean feat and is for all of Rutland and all of our country, and to come together in joy. Rutland leads and others will follow.”
The MP revealed that the King would be visiting the statue.
Crowds of local residents mingled with visitors from further afield, some waving Union flags, with children sporting gold paper crowns on their heads.
She told spectators: “I am proud to play my very small part in helping to celebrate her reign,” pointing to the statue and saying: “She belongs to all of you.”
Following the unveiling, a lone bagpiper played a lament to the late Queen and the National Anthem was played, with crowds joining in.
Dozens of corgis, some wearing red, white and blue, then posed beside the new monument with their owners and officials before parading along the packed streets to Oakham Castle for a meet-and-greet session with the public.
Among the corgi owners was Katrina Emptage from Lincoln, with her two-year-old pet, Mable.
She said: “The statue is absolutely amazing and I’m delighted to be here to see it and be part of the corgi parade. It is very special.”
The late Queen held a life-long, deep affection for the breed after she fell in love with the dogs as a child.
She owned more than 30 over the years, many of which were direct descendants of the first, Susan, which was given to her as an 18th birthday present by her parents in 1944.
Speaking of his inspiration, Mr Pratley said:
“I very quickly thought that I would like to have a corgi nestling in her robes by her feet because what a great symbol it is, artistically, of her being mother of a nation.”

“Rose Hanbury's family have been close to the royals for years. Her maternal aunt was a goddaughter of the late Queen and dated King Charles briefly in the 70s. Her grandmother was also Elizabeth’s bridesmaid and a close friend. Her sister Marina dated Lord Frederick Windsor and apparently lived with him at Kensington Palace. Her husband also still has an important position within the royal household. His family also has connections to the royals, after Diana and Charles announced their engagement, they spent the weekend at Cholmondeley Castle. Rose and her family have also been close with Queen Camilla's family for a long time and her son Tom follows Rose and her family members on Instagram. So I don't understand why people are so shocked that Rose and Camilla might be getting closer and becoming friends or why Rose is attending all these events and hangs out with royals.” - Submitted by Anonymous

Cornelius Pendragon

Name: Admiral Cornelius Edward Pendragon
Gender: Male
Born: 1799
Knighted: 1859
Death: 1869 (Scarlett Fever, aged 70)
Sexuality: Straight
🔹Species: King Cobra 🐍
🔹Height: 6ft 4”
🔹 Relations: Ellie (Wife) ,Sir Pentious (son)
🔹Personality: Stoic, Regal, Strict, Authoritarian, Chivalrous & Kind
🔹Hobbies: Building Ships in a bottle, Reading, Chess & fencing ⚔️.
🔹Likes: Tea, Cakes, Art Galleries, Park walks.
🔹 Dislikes: Disrespectful people, Laziness, Failure, dishonesty, liars, secrets (surprises don’t count)
🔹Backstory:
Born in the peek of the Pirate era, Cornelius was a very happy and energetic child. His parents were wealthy Bankers and owned many of the establishments of London. By the time he was 18 in 1817 he had enlisted in the British Royal Navy.
Cornelius didn’t want his fortune handed to him from his family. He wanted to be a man of his own making. Training with the Navy made him appreciate structure, rules and discipline. Over his years of experience in the Navy he had reached Admiral by the time he was 30.
Driven to rid of Pirates and being sent to other territories a close call during a naval battle made Cornelius take some much needed leave to visit home. Where he asked his mother to find an eligible woman to be his bride. Beatrice was more than delighted to assist!
Lo and behold he was introduced to a lovely woman called Elizabeth Hastings. She was merely 21 going on 22 at the time of their courtship but the Admiral was smitten. Elizabeth or Ellie as she preferred was so sweet, kind and a hopeless romantic for a man in uniform. However, she helped Cornelius bring down those walls to be more himself rather than the Admiral all the time.
The couple were to marry that Spring but due to Cornelius being summoned to sea he proposed they get married during their Christmas holiday with all their family. So after Christmas Mass, the pair went up and became husband and wife.
Once the festivities had died down the nerve wracking moment of their Wedding Night came to being. Cornelius knew this was a big step but he comforted Ellie and understood if she wasn’t ready they could wait. They did go through with it that night and it was very special to both of them.
Ellie saw Cornelius off at the docks, she would write to him at the Port he was stationed at. Even telling him she was expecting their first child, Cornelius was over the moon to become a father. He postponed his annual leave to have time to be there for Ellie at the end of the pregnancy.
Then on that faithful day when Ellie was whisked into the chambers to birth their first child, Cornelius was called in as Ellie had complications during birth. The doctor advised she couldn’t have more children due to risk of her life. Cornelius was understanding but he didn’t leave her side or their son’s while she recovered.
Duties were put aside for his little family as he cradled his son, Arthur. Once Ellie was better she was able to nurse and care for Arthur. Cornelius was overjoyed his little family was ok.
Over the years the trips to the Caribbean became more demanding and it caused a distance between him and Ellie. Sure they did have their marital duties to satisfy each other’s loneliness but it felt like they were becoming different people.
In 1859, Cornelius was invited to Hanover in England from none other than Queen Victoria herself. Due to his bravery and significant contribution to England he was Knighted at 60 years old. (Pen was approximately 11)
A Decade on and Cornelius had heard a rumour about his wife being unfaithful with the gardener whilst he was away. At first, he didn’t believe it yet understood…he wasn’t there but then the doubts started to creep in. Was Arthur even his? Confronting Ellie was the hardest thing he had to do because he knew his Admiral mannerisms would arise. Ellie did admit to it but as she was younger at the time she didn’t know what she wanted. Due to her indecisiveness, Cornelius wasn’t sure what Ellie wanted. So Cornelius distanced himself from both his son and wife.
Even going as far as to stop making ships in a bottle for Arthur…
By the time Arthur was a young man of science and invention both he and his father were more civil and respectful towards one another. Rather than this openly lovely relationship he had with his mother, Ellie.
Cornelius passed away from Scarlet fever in 1869 at 70 but he wished he had fixed things with his family. (Pentious approx 21)

Anwar Hussein
Photographer whose work helped to transform the public image of the royal family
The photographer Anwar Hussein, who has died aged 85, was integral to transforming the public image of the British royal family: from the aloof and unknowable to something more human. His photographs will also forever be synonymous with the brief life of Diana, Princess of Wales, but his work was much more than that.
Hussein hailed from what is now Tanzania, but his career began in earnest in the UK in the late 1960s, and his talent led to commissions for portraits of the pop and rock gods of the 70s: Marc Bolan, Elton John, David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Freddie Mercury. Soon Hussein realised he needed a fresh challenge. He wanted to record something more historic, more lasting, and he set his sights on the most exclusive family in the world: the House of Windsor.
As an African-born Muslim, Hussein faced many institutional and cultural obstacles. Back then, the go-to look of a royal photographer was clean-shaven, short back-and-sides and a blazer. Hussein was bearded, wore his hair long and favoured a leather jacket and cowboy boots. The fact that the royal entourage were sceptical, and often told him he stood no chance, made him all the more determined. He needed to break into the clique and bring the counterculture to the establishment.
He studied official photographs and found them too posed and contrived, knowing that if he combined the photojournalism techniques he had honed in Africa and on the streets of swinging 60s London with his experience engaging with the divas of film and music, he could show the Windsors in a new light.
When covering royal events for news outlets, he used a longer lens so as not to be obtrusive, which allowed his subjects to relax. The resulting candid, naturalistic images captured moments in between poses, such as Queen Elizabeth II corralling her corgis at Aberdeen airport in 1974. They also brought him to the attention of a Buckingham Palace that was keen to show the royal family in a more modern, relatable way.
By the end of 1976 Hussein had earned the trust of the Queen and Prince Charles, and he was invited to travel the world documenting royal tours of Africa, Canada, and New Zealand.
The greater Hussein’s access, the more intimate the pictures, and the greater the public’s interest became. Then Lady Diana Spencer burst on to the scene and royal mania took hold. Hussein had photographed her before at social events, but following her engagement to Prince Charles in 1981 the symbiotic relationship between the princess and the photographer began.
Hussein’s sensitive work helped propel Diana to become the most photographed woman in the world, and he captured some of the most memorable and important photographs of the “people’s princess”. He was there when she shook hands with an Aids patient in London in 1987, a landmark moment in the fight against the disease. He photographed her cradling a terminally ill child at a cancer hospital in Lahore in 1996, an image of palpable compassion, and Diana’s favourite photograph, though she was upset to learn the child died shortly afterwards.
As her marriage disintegrated, Diana used the power of photography to signify her unhappiness and isolation. This was epitomised by Hussein’s memorable 1992 shot of Diana sitting alone in front of the Taj Mahal, a building that symbolises enduring love.
“She showed her moods in the way she dressed,” Hussein said – and never more so than when she wore her “revenge” dress to a Vanity Fair party at the Serpentine Gallery in 1994. It was the same day that an ITV documentary disclosed that her estranged husband had admitted to committing adultery. She had bought the Christina Stambolian dress three years earlier, but had initially deemed it too risque for a woman in her position. That evening Hussein was there to capture her “looking like a million dollars”.
Hussein was devastated by the death of Diana. They had become friends, and she often confided in him. On a private plane, at a time when she was dating the surgeon Hasnat Khan, Diana asked the photographer about his interfaith marriage (in 1978 Hussein had married Caroline Morgan, who worked in publishing), and about Islam.
Hussein wrote and contributed to many books on the Windsors, and in 2021 his hugely successful exhibition of photographs, Princess Diana: Accredited Access (which included work by his two sons, Samir and Zakir, who both followed in his footsteps), was launched in Los Angeles and toured the world, closing in London in 2024.
Hussein was born in Chunya in what was then the British colony of Tanganyika, the fourth of the five children of Mohamed Hussein and Sardar (nee Begum). The family moved to Mwanza on the shore of Lake Victoria, where his father worked as a civil servant for the British government. There Hussein attended the local Indian public school, but education was not for him, and he left at 16. Instead his passion was for the camera he had borrowed from his elder brother, Akhtar, who owned a small photo shop in the town. Hussein taught himself on trips to the Serengeti plains, where he photographed the wildlife.
Aiming to earn a living as a photographer, he began to tout for work, and in his early 20s the United Nations commissioned him to document the humanitarian crisis in the Republic of the Congo, where conflict raged following its independence from Belgium. The work there cemented his love for photojournalism, and he decided to move to the UK to pursue his dream.
Arriving in 1963, Hussein initially struggled to find work and accommodation. From a tiny flat in Notting Hill, he lived hand-to-mouth until his breakthrough in 1968. He was documenting an anti-Vietnam war protest outside the American embassy in London when he photographed a police officer being dragged from his horse. He knew he had a great shot and hurried to the Daily Mail, where he persuaded them to develop the film. The result appeared on page one the following day.
He was then hired to cover news events and music festivals, and he began to take celebrity portraits. Hussein wanted his work to be published in magazines, where the display and pay were better than newspapers, so he switched to colour film.
He worked as a stills photographer for movie companies and photographed Sean Connery and Roger Moore on the sets of Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die. Hussein knew how to hustle too. In 1970 he went uninvited to the set of Steve McQueen’s film Le Mans. He quickly built a rapport with McQueen and was given a small role as himself in the film. The star then invited Hussein to work on his next film, Papillon.
In recent years Hussein had begun to wind down, and the coronation of King Charles III in 2023 was his last job. He documented the lives of the royal family for more than five decades and, despite the initial naysayers, he was the longest serving royal photographer. As a child in Tanganyika he had only ever seen the British monarchs on postage stamps and, many years later, it was his photographs that would adorn the Royal Mail’s stamps.
He is survived by his wife, his two sons, four grandchildren and his sister Tasnim.

Another day, another media outlet trying to convince everyone that Kate has the power to grant royal warrants.
Kate Middleton is set to break from decades of tradition and bestow her first set of royal warrants for the first time ever, it has been confirmed. As reigning monarch, King Charles decides which members of the royal family are permitted to hand out royal warrants, signifying their own personal use of a specific brand. When the Princess of Wales announces her decisions, it will mark the first time in over 70 years that a royal bearing the title Princess of Wales has had the opportunity to grant the honour – an opportunity that was not bestowed upon Princess Diana.
Because outside of the royal media circles, there are NO signs that UK businesses are putting in applications to become grantees for Kate's royal warrants.
How do we know?
Just check The Royal Warrant Holders Association website.
In 2024 HM The King and HM The Queen granted their first two sets of Royal Warrants of Appointment of the new reign. The grants were made as part of a review of all companies that held Royal Warrants at the time of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. New Royal Warrants will be granted in 2025 to other companies with an established and ongoing trading relationship with the Royal Household as part of the usual cycle of reviews and applications.
Doesn't list The Prince OR Princess of Wales there.
The application section also does not mention The Prince or Princess of Wales.
Companies can apply for a Royal Warrant of Appointment if they have supplied the Households of HM The King or HM The Queen with goods or services for at least five years out of the past seven years.
Again, no mention of The Prince OR Princess of Wales.
Applications do not even open until mid-May.
Applications are open from mid-May until the end of June. Application forms and instructions are available from the Association upon request during this period only. Each application is scrutinised by the Royal Household Warrants Committee, which makes its recommendation to the Grantor.
All this hype about Kate issuing royal warrants soon is just that.
HYPE!
These stories about Kate are just pr cover to hide that she's not doing anything right now and has no plans to do anything in the near future.
She's probably still up at Anmer Hall right now, spending her nights away from William & the kids. Or maybe she's staying with her parents. Or in a different property in Windsor Great Park. Or back at Adelaide Cottage while William is sleeping on the couch somewhere else.

The Master-Compilation of my Good Omens Headcanons
i wrote so many of these from 2022-now and shared them on tiktok, but since it’s getting banned in the states, i thought i’d share them here :) organizing them by category as well so i hope you enjoy!!!
Historical
Aziraphale loved Billie Holiday. He dragged Crowley to nyc to see her first performance in Carnegie hall in 1949. He saw her again in every one of her European shows and saw the live recording of strange fruit in 1959, dragging Crowley along and he cried.
Crowley learned classical piano in the Victorian era and to this day is very good at it. Aziraphale does not know this but would be so enamored if he did
Crowley and Mary Shelley were good friends - Aziraphale is convinced that they were lovers in Shelley’s polyamory with her husband, they were not
Aziraphale was extremely close with Hans Christian Anderson. Aziraphale did not understand why he felt so empty inside listening to Hans talking about how unrequited loves ((denial queen)). they met in 1835 and wrote to each other nearly every day for 40 years until Anderson’s death. they talked in depth about their deep loneliness and their feelings as outcasts, along with their confusing feelings about love. aziraphale still has a draft of ‘the little mermaid’ in his desk that hans asked him to look over. it is heavily tearstained. when Hans died he didn’t talk to anyone for several years.
Crowley started the Victorian craze of watching trains crash/explode
When Crowley first saw the pictures taken from the hubble telescope in the 90’s, he cried for hours. It was the first time he got to see his creation in over 6,000 years and it was just as beautiful as he remembered
Crowley convinced Tchaikovsky to use actual canons in 1812 overture because of a snide comment Aziraphale made about the symphony being too boring for Crowley
Crowley took Aziraphale to the opening of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1972 to get a rise out of the angel but fell in love with comedic musical theatre instead, quickly befriending writer Jim Sharman. crowley was part of the ensemble in the first productions of The Rocky Horror Show in the early 70’s as a personal favor to Jim. crowley nearly fainted when he saw Freddie Mercury in the audience during a performance and is still to this day resentful of Tim Curry for being the one who Freddie took an interest to on the cast
Crowley and Aziraphale were both personal friends of Princess Di. neither of them know this about each other and blame each other’s head offices for her death
Aziraphale volunteered as a field nurse across europe for the entirety of WW1
Aziraphale got his ears pierced in 1327 BC Egypt and wore them on and off until the 15th century. he was excited when they came back into fashion in the 70’s and he enjoys to wear small golden studs to this day
Crowley tried to pick up guitar - specifically electric - several times throughout the 20th century. he was never any good
both Crowley and Aziraphale bought up several properties to turn into speakeasies during the american prohibition, but Crowley took credit for all of them for their head offices’ sakes. Crowley tended to host spaces for people of color and queer folks to be themselves freely and Aziraphale integrated traditionally white spaces with jazz music, opening the stage for many queer and poc musicians to become mainstream.
Crowley was the one to suggest they play Billie Holiday’s ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ for the mars opportunity rover when it died; he was heavily involved in the mission (he’s involved in most nasa missions) and loved oppie so much. this was Azi’s favorite Billie song — he doesn’t know that crowley knows this and Crowley didn’t realize for many decades that that was why he chose that song.
Aziraphale popularized pembroke welsh corgis throughout the UK and New England and was the one to introduce the breed to the late Queen Elizabeth II in the 1930s, personally meeting every one of the royal corgis until the queen’s death. lets be real — corgis are THE Azi dog.
Crowley set up a quaker house during the underground railroad in northern Pennsylvania that was operational for the majority of the mid nineteenth century. Crowley averted hell’s questions by using his time there ‘tempting’ the slave catchers (which consisted of severely inconveniencing them in every way possible and many very sadistic pranks)
Aziraphale presented female for a few decades in the 18th century and absolutely adored the fashion in England. She eventually stopped only because she would not stop getting random marriage proposals from men who thought she was fabulously wealthy (Azi “I HAVE standards” Fell fr)
Crowley was ACTIVE in the American hippie movement in the 60’s and 70’s. He already had so much to do in America at that time (red scare, space race, Nixon in general, etc) that he stayed among the people in hippie communes for several years. This developed his music taste quite a bit as well (and promoted The 70’s Mustache) (can I hear a wahoo)
Aziraphale became close with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky after watching his production of “Sleeping Beauty” in 1890. He was the one who encouraged him to continue writing “The Nutcracker” even after he expressed how much he despised the score. Aziraphale still has an original score of Grand Pas De Deux. They were close friends until Tchaikovsky’s death (clearly my hc azi has a pattern of befriending tragic historically gay men who have severe depression)
Crowley was SUPER pissed when they found out arsenic was poisonous. she absolutely wore (and SLAYED) those Victorian deathtrap arsenic dresses. I like to think that she really hopped on the arsenic green trend.
Crowley had a CRUSH on James Dean (bc of course he did. they’re both bisexual disasters with tragic love lives) Aziraphale once told Crowley that he reminded him of James Dean and he has been riding that high ever since.
Modern-Day
Aziraphale does the crossword every morning in the paper, he’s horrible at the sudoku so he asks for crowley’s help. Crowley realized he loved logic puzzles and now Az just saves them for crowley, eventually Crowley convinced Az to play the nyt games.
For the wordle, Crowley starts with whatever word comes to mind everyday (thinks it’s funny to use ‘penis’, Az starts with ‘adieu’. They race, Crowley usually wins and Az is so angry abt this but won’t show it
Crowley invented decaf coffee and gained accolades in hell for it bc of how many people hated it/accidentally ordered it but in reality he invented it for Aziraphale who liked the taste but didn’t like how jittery caffeine made him
Aziraphale mispronounces a lot of words he learned solely by reading, Crowley never lets this go and still bullies him for how he pronounced epitome the first time
Aziraphale does read alouds at local libraries for children once every month to help fund children’s literature.
Aziraphale enjoys pressing leaves and drying flowers. he has dozens of bouquets from crowley over the years that he hangs along his bookshelves
Aziraphale adores the Charlie Brown comics and films. he has followed the Vince Guaraldi Trio since the late 50’s and watches the respective holiday films every year.
Aziraphale and Crowley enjoy watching ancient history documentaries so they can yell at the tv and debunk their facts. aziraphale once sent a drunken email to national geographic about their misrepresentation of 12th century nordics. they did not respond
Crowley occasionally guest lectures for astrophysics courses at the university of edinburgh
Aziraphale always goes all out for christmas— a ten foot tree decorated with tinsel and garland and shining ornaments and bells, the bookshop’s shelves and doors covered in laurels and mistletoe and lights. he hands out gingerbread and cocoa to his patrons, he brings gift baskets to neighboring shops, and he starts playing christmas music on november first and picks each gift he gives with several months worth of preparation and deep love and care. he is the embodiment of the christmas spirit.
Aziraphale is actually a big sports fan and can get rather invested in and riled up over matches. He’s surprisingly most into rugby but he refuses to watch it in pubs because of how overly rowdy humans can be
Crowley actually likes the ‘Sound of Music’, more specifically the first half. he always gets teary-eyes during ‘Something Good’; it makes him think of Aziraphale
Aziraphale always tries to find the harmonies or countermelody in the songs he listens to. he has a wonderful singing voice but uses it sparingly
Crowley has very rough and calloused hands — not from any work he’s done, they’re simply just like that. these are must in contrast to Aziraphale’s hands
Aziraphale runs warm, Crowley runs cold (obvi, he’s a reptile). they are constantly battling over the AC. Aziraphale can literally not function if the heat in the house is over 20°c/68°f, he will sweat like a madman (meanwhile, Crowley will be in fuzzy socks, a jacket, and have a blanket wrapped around him if it’s below 23°c/71°f).
Crowley cannot keep succulents alive no matter what he does. they are supposedly the easiest plants to keep and he is so good with leafy plants, but no — they always die. after he killed his fourth string of pearls he got so angry that he caused a several hour power outage throughout westminster.
Aziraphale is fantastic at poker and is completely unreadable. this is extremely attractive to Crowley
after armageddon’t, Crowley worked closely with NASA to launch the James Webb Space Telescope. he wanted humanity to be able to take in as much as the cosmos as it was designed to be seen before heaven and hell create another apocalypse. every time new images are released, Aziraphale makes them tea and him and Crowley look at them together. crowley goes on long tangents about each image; about their creation and how they function in god’s great universe.
crowley makes an effort to leave tins of free pads and tampons in any public women’s restroom he finds himself near. after presenting as a woman for several decades throughout his time, he assumed it was the least he could do.
Aziraphale loves to take photographs. he has a dark room in the back of the bookshop, but once he found out he could take quality photos on his mobile phone he has gone feral.he will stop Crowley every few minutes on walks to take pictures of flowers and other wildlife. he also loves taking candid pictures of crowley (he doesn’t know about this)
Aziraphale loves podcasts. he listens to the BBC global news podcast every morning and usually listens to audiobooks or informational podcasts on his afternoon walks.
both aziraphale and crowley are ambidextrous. I like to think that most demons are left handed and angels right handed, and az and crowley slowly adopted the other over time.
Aziraphale writes horribly sappy poetry in the margins of his diary. like corny Martin k Blackwood style (tma fans sound off) and is more terrified about Crowley finding these than he is the explicitly romantic diary entries
Aziraphale is surprisingly a beer guy — Crowley is not. Azi is a big fan of darker/amber brews, but Crowley thinks they all taste like utter dog-piss and has said he would rather drink a glass of straight cheap vodka (he did do this once to prove his point and got violently ill; too busy throwing up the entire night to miracle it away. Azi held his hair)
Crowley is horrible at smoking — nearly coughs up a lung every drag of even the smoothest cigarette. he is so angry about this because he thinks people smoking is very attractive and wants to be like that himself. he carries a pack around with him and holds them in his teeth ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ style
Though angels are better known for their lack of dancing skills, Crowley is a horrible dancer. they usually avoided dancing with one another (even for The Arrangement) to keep attention away from them, but after the apocalypse they began to find how much they loved slowdancing with one another. it took Crowley several decades to not step on Azi’s toes every time but eventually they got into a rhythm and slow dance nearly ever evening with one another and hold each other very close when doing so.
Aziraphale enjoys Queen (and a lot of modern music) even if he doesn’t want to admit it. He’s rather fond of A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races, but surprisingly enjoys a lot of songs off of Hot Space (he will NEVER admit this to Crowley)
Aziraphale LOVES jigsaw puzzles. He always has at least one going in the bookshop and Crowley helps work on them when he’s drunk (he does not really help at all — he gets three pieces together before he gets a headache)
When Crowley is sad, his go-to album is The Wall by Pink Floyd. I also think that this is one of his number one albums of all time — the music is intricate, soulful, heart-wrenching… what’s not not love ((from a Pink Floyd supremacist))
Besides the obvious Queen, Crowley loves Pink Floyd, The Talking Heads, Bowie, The Smiths, and other bands in that realm. He loves songs with a lot going on— heavy percussion, intricate bass, soulful guitar solos, etc.
To compromise him and Aziraphale’s tastes, he usually puts on bands more in the realm of Phish, the Beatles, and The Grateful Dead for them both. It gives Aziraphale the melodic and harmonic qualities he adores but also gives Crowley the nostalgia of the late 20th century. (“Aziraphale would genuinely love The Velvet Underground and I’m still mad at Crowley for that” ~my roommate)
Crowley definitely HATES that Azi likes the Beatles. Crowley has personal experience with John Lennon and how much of a prick he was, but he feels bad telling azi abt how shitty most of the members were bc of how much he enjoys their music/ it’s one of the few bands they enjoy together (“my angel loves it, I can’t break his little heart. At least he doesn’t call this one bebop”)
Crowley is a flushed drunk. give him two shots and he’s red as a tomato and probably sweating up a storm. he’s also a sleepy drunk (while aziraphale is a touchy-drunk)
Crowley drives with one hand so that he can hold Aziraphale’s with the other (or, usually, just tries to muster up the courage). he still does it out of habit.
Crowley loves pulling out random facts that he knows, especially more natural/earth science things (facts about bugs, what kinds of clouds are in the sky, etc). he just likes to Tell Aziraphale Things. aziraphale usually knows all of these things, but he doesn’t tell this to crowley. (“oh really? that’s very interesting dear…”) it brings crowley great joy
Aziraphale has touch/sound sensory issues, Crowley has smell/taste/texture sensory issues (ex zira can barely LOOK at old sherpa or crushed velvet, panics when noises are a bit too loud, crowley can’t eat foods if they feel wrong, usually why he doesn’t eat)
Zira keeps plant propagations in his windowsills for crowley. after he left for heaven, Muriel learned to take care of them and started a small plant corner by the window. they have a very green thumb
Crowley gets really bad echolalia (repetition of words/noises he hears) and Aziraphale will sometimes scold him for mocking others/him but Crowley is insistent that he’s not trying to
when they laugh too hard, Crowley hisses (mixture of actual snake and windex bottle) and Aziraphale snorts. they both think it’s adorable.
Non-Ineffable Husbands
Muriel is terrified of ladybugs (even more so after Crowley convinced them that the yellow ones are poisonous and WILL kill you)
Muriel loves to paint and they are an extremely talented landscape artist. they learned the basics from watching old Bob Ross tapes
(Via my roommate and I thought it was funny) Warlock definitely grows up to listen to all of the male manipulator bands but Adam just listens to a lot of Weezer
Depressing
cws: major character death, animal death, disassociation, general canon-typical trauma, alcoholism
Crowley got a kitten in the late 40’s that he loved so much that he genuinely did not know what to do with the emotion. When it died of old age crowley was so crushed that he did not get out of bed for fifteen years and refused to ever get another pet bc he couldn’t handle losing one again
As an Archangel, Aziraphale can only see in shades of lilac (because of the eyes). this is the only think that keeps heaven bearable for him
Crowley road tripped across europe during the pandemic instead of sleeping. he slept for a few weeks before he woke up from a nightmare about aziraphale forcing holy water down his throat with a blank expression on his face. he hasn’t slept since.
before Crowley left the bookshop for good, he left a list of books and films that muriel would need to understand humanity. he wrote about Bob Ross along with Mister Rogers’ neighborhood and several books of poetry; Robert Frost, Ross Gay, so on. as angry as he was with heaven and Aziraphale, he wanted Muriel to keep seeing humanity as beautiful and kind, even if they were the only one to see it as truly that way.
Crowley doesn’t get intoxicated in public; he’s either alone or with Aziraphale. Last time he got properly sloshed around someone who wasn’t Azi was Elspeth. When he lets his guard down, he slips and he shows that he is kind and that scares him. When Aziraphale leaves for heaven, he drinks himself to blackout in a pub.
Crowley is extremely sensitive to light and is prone to intense headaches/migraine symptoms. This is partially due to the snake eyes but I also think it could be another punishment from God (stars/galaxies = light, light now hurts)
Crowley very often forgets to sober up before he passes out for the night and wakes up hungover. Aziraphale always leaves water on the coffee table (he usually passes out on the bookshop couch) for him. Though, Crowley uses hangovers for punishment. drinks to forget, feels like shit when he remembers (self destructive behaviors)
Stupid/Silly Ones
Crowley is TERRIFIED of birds that can talk. He thinks it’s unnatural and that they shouldn’t be able to think like that
Aziraphale wears those old timey red striped one piece swimsuits
When Crowley found out that talking into a fan made your voice funny, he was ECSTATIC and called az immediately. This was one of the first human things he taught Muriel about
Aziraphale googles like “hello google can you please show me funny cat videos. Thank you so much dear”
Crowley sneezes like a dad — like a sound-barrier breaking scream sneeze. It scares the shit out of Aziraphale every time
Aziraphale as a small but dedicated fanbase on youtube for an ASMR channel Maggie started him, which is just him doing softspoken readings of his favorite novels. he secretly loves the attention
Crowley is lowkey in love with Freddie Mercury. He has the almost comedic misfortune of just barely missing meeting/befriending throughout his career and he is beyond bitter about this. he is literally the number one Freddie fangirl.
Aziraphale LOVES HGTV. he watches it religiously and gets genuinely emotionally invested in the flips
Crowley did competitive cup stacking for a few years in the early 2000’s. I literally have no valid reason for thinking this but it feels right
Crowley came up with the Oak Island conspiracy. he religiously watches the curse of oak island on the History Channel solely to make fun of it and is almost mad about how many seasons it has at this point
Crowley has never once looked both ways crossing the street — he simply walks in the middle of traffic no crosswalk and is convinced he will never get hit. he still hasn’t been hit somehow. he isn’t miracling it, he just genuinely hasn’t been hit yet
I’ve seen this take before but I’m going to say it again: Crowley was 100% DB Cooper and I am so beyond passionate about this
Crowley recorded the original wilhelm scream and is so angry that it still used as a gag because he always hated the way his voice sounded
Aziraphale is one of those people who licks his thumb before he turns a page. Crowley HATES this
Crowley sleeps with a heated blanket because he can’t sleep in the cold (his cold-bloodedness makes it uncomfortable to sleep in anything but heat). he enjoys sleeping in snake-form quite often and will curl up completely under the heated blanket and just roast like a lizard on a rock under a heat lamp (I like to imagine he also owns a few heat lamps)
Aziraphale has definitely accidentally taken an edible at least once (and I like to believe that he has taken one on purpose on his own in the bookshop thinking it would make reading more interesting. It didn’t of course, it made it impossible, so he watched a film instead and had a lot of fun and considers doing it again)
Crowley wears only black because when he tries to dress himself in other colors he looked horrendously mismatched (his snake eyes would make him mostly colorblind). He always has Aziraphale double check the colors of the clothes he buys.
Aziraphale loves minion memes. It hurts me so much to admit but god dammit I know he would EAT them up.
Aziraphale loves black licorice. Crowley is legitimately extremely upset by this
Crowley crashes weddings in his spare time and “accidentally” spills red wine on anyone wearing white that isn’t the bride
I feel like Azi has a REALLY aggressive animal voice, like “oh wook at the widdle baby boy!!! What a good little baby boy!!!” And it’s like the oldest, meanest dog in the world
Crowley shows cat affection. Sometimes he’ll just bump his head against azi or start poking him. Azi will say something sweet and he’ll just stare with big eyes and then walk away
thank you all so much for reading :3

Elizabeth of York got Elizabeth Wydeville's properties in 1487 by Henry VII?
(don't reblog)
Hi! Yes, Elizabeth Woodville’s dower lands were transferred to her daughter in 1487. However, it doesn't seem that Elizabeth of York received all the properties her mother possessed during her time as queen.
Mainly because J.L Laynesmith said that “Elizabeth of York received a portion of her mother's lands and fee farms and an annuity from the town of Bristol, which amounted in total to less than half of her mother's income”.
Derek Neal’s analysis amounts to something similar. He wrote that Elizabeth Woodville’s properties were confiscated by Richard III, and after 1485, “Henry VII restored 27 properties and added seven new ones, meaning that Elizabeth lost at least 70 per cent of her pre-1483 estate, though she regained almost all her original fee-farms. By 1486, however, there was a new queen needing a dower of her own, and when Elizabeth Woodville left court the next year*, her daughter received these 34 lands along with the fee-farms.”
Likewise, Michele Seah wrote that after recognizing Elizabeth Woodville as dowager queen, Henry VII "re-granted to her most, but not all, of the lands initially granted in 1465." (I presume the numerous lands and income Elizabeth had additionally acquired across her queenship weren't included). These were the lands then transferred to Elizabeth of York in 1487.
So it seems that other historians have oversimplified and/or misunderstood what the transfer entailed, first assuming that Elizabeth Woodville was granted all her former lands by Henry VII, and then that Elizabeth of York received the lands her mother had as queen rather than the ones that had been specifically granted to her in 1485.
Either way, Elizabeth of York was additionally granted some of her aunt Isabel Neville’s property during the Earl of Warwick’s minority in 1489, followed by a grant of Fotheringhay (a property her father was known to have enjoyed, and which she may have thus been attached to) in March 1495. The death of her grandmother Cecily Neville in that same year significantly improved her estate, giving her an additional annual income of around £1,399, as was the case in 1496.
Also, while Elizabeth did struggle with debts, this was not unusual at all among queens, and it was Henry VII who regularly repaid them for her. It's worth keeping in mind that while some former queens who were struggling financially ended up having to reduce the size of their household (eg: Joan of Navarre, Margaret of Anjou) or merge it with the King's (eg: Philippa of Hainault), Elizabeth of York was not made to do any of those things and maintained unchanged autonomy of her household until her death.
Anon asked: I read that Elizabeth of York's last year finance was actually for half year?
Again, it's unclear. This comes from Retha Warnicke's book Elizabeth of York and her Six Daughters-in-Law: Fashioning Tudor Queenship, where she wrote “After [Elizabeth's] death in February 1503, Richard Decons noted in her privy purse accounts that he had collected £3,535, 19 shillings, 10 1/2 pence. Since the financial year had begun at Michaelmas (September 29) in 1502, as it did every year, this sum was not inconsequential.”
However, Michele Seah's newer article "Gifts and Rewards: Exploring the Expenditure of Late Medieval English Queens" explicitly states that the household accounts kept by Decons were for the months March 1502 to February 1503.
But again, I'm not super familiar with this topic and so my answer may be off-balanced. I hope that Seah’s upcoming book Financing Queenship in Fifteenth-Century England will shed more light on the situation!
*We don't know much about Elizabeth Woodville's situation after 1487, including whether she truly left court. See here for a longer explanation.
#pls don't reblog this - like I said this isn't a topic I'm ultra familiar with#ask#elizabeth of york#I hope it's okay that I combined the two asks - they were both on EoY's finances and I was not 100% sure about either#I figured they'd go well together#tudors#15th century
