I'm going insane! It just seems to obvious to me that quasar diamonds are Startouch elves that have been killed, like Leola. That would explain why they are so rare. They say directly that quasar diamonds are compressed stardust. We see something fall to earth when Leola is killed. I haven't seen anyone talk about this!

Yes, Startouch elves can't truly be killed, unless the galactic council of Star touch decide they should be.

Most seem to think Leola became a star? That doesn't make sense to me. Aravos says the Sea of Castout is where her body fell...

I have so many ideas and theories, but this one is driving me crazy because no one else seems to have thought of it

so, as far as I understood, Rayla's parents chose to... go? I think they don't need to be freed, at least. Runaan is out, Aaravos is out. Two out of three quasar diamonds are used. Which leaves us with one. And we just so happen to have one more person in need of de-coining.

Also are they going to free Kpp'Ar with the last quasar diamond? Idk. Did Viren had the coin on him when he died? Can you just free someone that was in some kind of magical prison or from magical bindings too? Because if that's the case can't someone potentially free Kim'dael? I'll look it up

Enchanting magical gems? I don't... one does not enchant magical gems, they already come enchanted! I can enchant weapons, metals, trinkets, toys, non-magical gems... just about anything, so long as some form of magic is not already occupying the substance. But I cannae enchant magical gems and primal stones.

I've yet to encounter a quasar diamond, and have yet to meet anyone who has, I'm afraid. But now I'm curious: what will my assistance be needed for? Or rather, who will be needing it?

Analysis of this image and character

The mask also appears to have this symbol on it,

as opposed to the symbol the rest of the celestial elves (that we’ve seen) + Callum have on their blindfolds:

That symbol is also connected to “old magic” and this checks out because this guy is supposed to be ancient since quasar diamonds are “protected by an ancient sect of Skywing Elves.”

He’s also holding this corona (crown):

As has been discussed before, Viren’s staff has one of the diamonds (size and shape matches up, also coin/uncoin spell is said and shown to use star magic)

“The spell is complex and it uses star magic so, to do it, I need these. Quasar Diamonds.” - 5x04

Since we know one quasar diamond was taken (likely by Aaravos, or at least gifted by Aaravos to Ziard, so that humanity could use star magic) and possibly others are scattered (taken by Aaravos? within the cube? who knows) this means

A. if the spell requires three (3) quasar diamonds it will be downright Impossible

B. celestial elf leader will be even more protective of the remaining quasar diamonds/corona as a whole and only give it to those most Worthy (hence callum going through some sort of celestial elf ritual in the season 6 teaser)

So because the symbol on the blindfold is related to an ancient practice and we know one quasar dismond is missing, that means this image is outdated to the current timeline events and for all we know this elf is dead. (Although he still may be around and guarding the corona.)

As for other aspects I noticed some similarities in design between Nyx and this celestial elf (although it’s unclear whether the hanging cloak is made of overlapping steel or fabric with a design on it)

As well as some similarities to

A. this early Aaravos character design concept art: (left)

Possibly indicating this elf has even more ties to startouch elves than the other celestial elves.

and B, (as originally pointed out here) an angel, as the wings in the image kind of remind me of how angel wings are always depicted.

to be fair, this could apply to all startouch elves, but it’s one of those things that makes celestial elves in particular so interesting because they’re like angels connected to the heavens and the sky. This might tie into the way they behave as well. Maybe the celestial elves even see themselves as the ‘angel messengers’ of startouch elf ‘gods’ and are essentially in a parasocial relationship with them having only interacted a few times but fantacizing over it.

Is this purple-ish crystal from S4 supposed to be a moon opal??

I'm honestly not sure. Stella seems very... full of purpuse here. And Bait is dismayed

Now look at the moon opal Callum picks up when N'than is explaining about he different crystals:

It's darker, bluer and slightly multi-colored in a way that the gem Stella pilfers just isn't. Stella goes for a crystal that had a purple tinge and no hint of spots where it reflects multicolored light. Is that relevant?? It feels relevant. Maybe it's just a moon opal that will come in handy at some point... But maybe it's not?

CHAPTER 12: Changes

It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Callum’s hand curled into a fist. “What do you mean you lost a diamond?”

“It wasn’t lost,” Deimos clarified. “It was stolen. By Aaravos.” 

Callum saw red. He whirled, punching the nearest wall and barely feeling the sting in his knuckles as he shook out his hand, Deimos’ shoulders raised in surprise.

“My dear boy!” he admonished at the same time Rayla said his name. “Control yourself.”

“Are you alright?” Rayla said, taking his hand and inspecting it. Only his index knuckle had split, but tears —for her family—swam in her eyes, trying as she might to tamp them down.

Callum clutched her hand and turned to Deimos, stony-eyed. “It’s not fair,” he said. “We came all this way and Aaravos is still the one fucking us over, centuries ahead of time.” He ran his thumb over Rayla’s own smaller, slightly smoother knuckles. This was magic. There was always a way to be clever with it. Creative. “There has to be another option.” 

“Star magic is mysterious and our resources, even here, are deeply limited,” Deimos said apologetically.

“But there has to be more than three quasar diamonds,” Callum argued and Deimos’ expression flickered.

“There are... rumours of a fourth,” he admitted. “But they are not well facilitated.”

“Tell us,” Rayla said thickly. She was still holding Callum’s hand, but she looked small, shoulders hunched. Her brave face was on, marred by the telltale tremor in her bottom lip. “Please?”

Dad’s Season 7 Theory

So my dad just came back from a few weeks abroad which meant we finally binged the new season together. Anyway… as we reached the end of the last episode he had a thought that I found pretty interesting so I thought I’d share.

Runnan has been released from the coin as we know, meaning there’s still one Quasar diamond in Callum’s possession. My dad noticed that when Runnan was freed his previously occupied coin it became empty (obviously) and that Callum picked it up to look at it. Now this can easily be framed as simple curiosity, but perhaps also foreshadowing? My dad’s thought here is, since Aaravos cannot be killed, and hence needs to be trapped, will Callum end up performing the coin entrapment spell on Aaravos? Instead of doing it the dark magic way he’d use the last Quasar diamond to trap him, almost like a reverse release spell?

It seems like an interesting thought and would be a pretty rounded conclusion to Callum’s arc, he would keep his promise of not using dark magic, we would see the final diamond be used, and trapping Aaravos in a coin would parallel Viren trapping others for his own gain, while Callum would have trapped someone to not only save the world but also assure himself that he is free from the threat and influence of Aaravos (seeing as he is absolutely going to spiral once he finds out Aaravos is free and he didn’t take the real Pearl).

Yeah anyway this is why I like watching shows with him we always end up having interesting discussions.
