i love it when characters are unfair, actually. i love it when they’re uncouth and cranky and hypocritical, i love it when they have cognitive dissonances, i love it when they make good and bad choices for the wrong reasons. i love when they’re short to anger and hard to understand. i love it when they’ve destroyed themselves for nothing but can’t even see either part of it yet. i love it when they’re messy and selfish and bad at communicating. i love it when they get convinced of their own ego and stuck in a feedback loop regarding their own warped paranoia. i love it when characters actively make their lives unknowingly harder for themselves. i love it when characters don’t know they’re in a story. i love it when characters are like real people

Okay, so this isn’t really related to the larger parts of the season, but-
Can I just say I absolutely love how they introduced Callum’s dad?
Like, there are so many theories about him, that he was an elf, that he was a warrior who died, that he just up and left them, but in actuality? He was a poet. He was a poet with a sickness from birth and he died from that when Callum was young. He was kind and Sarai loved him. Harrow even respected him and I genuinely love that.
It also makes more sense that it would’ve been harder for Callum to connect with Harrow in the face of that. His dad wasn’t some warrior who died before he knew him, he wasn’t some elf that he never knew, or some deadbeat who left his mom. He was a kind heart poet who was born with a sickness that couldn’t be cured.
That’s extraordinarily tragic, but I love it.

Im sure its been said before but I absolutely love love love how well The Dragon Prince did depicting how siblings can have the same parents but still grow up with very different versions of them.
To Claudia her dad was gentle, loving, and devoted. He taught her everything he knew, guiding his daughter lovingly through the lessons he had learned through life.
To Soren his dad was cold, angry, and dismissive. He ignored him every chance he got, making it known he was disappointed in his son for ‘failing’ to take after him.
To Claudia her mom is someone she doesn’t ever want to see again, someone who abandoned her.
To Soren his mom is someone he misses dearly, someone he wants to reconnect with after everything.
Then stepping away from their family
To Ezran his dad was affectionate, funny, and playful. Everyday he knew his dad loved him unconditionally, cause he tossed aside court manners to play with him.
To Callum his dad was a little awkward, stiff, but kind. He was never really sure how much of family he actually was, or if he could call Harrow his father at all.

TDP asked "Hey, is anyone else going to analyze the deeply loving and deeply traumatic relationship fathers have with their sons and daughters?" And did not wait for an answer

Also the parallel between Viren and Harrow, in that they’re both fathers who wrote their sons letters, hoping to explain themselves and offer truths, and Harrow’s does give his sons hope and clarity and resolve, and both of them have his words for the future, just like Viren wants for his son, but Viren ultimately decides his would do more harm than good and decides to burn it and take the truth with him when he dies. That parallel between these two fathers, successful and failed fathers, did not have to go so hard

You know, we still don’t know what exactly happened with King Harrow the night of the assassination, and we have one Quasar Diamond left.

"You keep calling it a monster" I really like the parallels between Rayla with Callum and Sarai with Harrow. They both agreed to go do it, but Rayla chose love instead of war, and the results were much better. No one died, they got what they wanted, and brought someone back from the dead because of it. But Sarai and Harrow actually killed it, which resulted in Sarai's death. I really like that
