First “I love you” from Katsuki
Katsuki has been your boyfriend for about 3 months now and it was going great.
You guys were in the store doing his weekly grocery shopping.
“Since we are doing the work of grocery shopping right now, it means we can’t do the work of cooking when we get home Katsuki. We have to stop and get take out on the way home. It’s girl math”, you were explaining to him.
“What kinda dumb shit reasoning is that? The fuck is a girl math?”
He was walking at a brisk pace because he has a list of what he needs and that’s all he’s in here for. Katsuki does not like aimlessly scrolling and shopping. Perfect for you because you got anxiety in the grocery store.
“So you don’t actually watch all the TikTok’s I send you?? So you don’t actually care about me?” You were looking at him with a fake pout on your face to support your teasing.
“You send me 50 fucking videos at one time! I can’t watch every single one of them. I don’t have enough time in my day.”
“Wow! So you’re breaking up with me?? I can’t believe this”
Katsuki no longer entertains you. He just keeps walking and picking up the things he needs.
“I can’t believe our time together has come to an end. I really thought we could’ve been something.”
He continues to ignore you and starts heading for the register having finished checking off his list.
“You forgot to get your protein powder. You used the last of it this morning in your smoothie.” You told him before he actually got in line.
“Fuck, I forgot. I didn’t add it to my list.”, he mumbled looking at you like he was a shocked you’d noticed.
“Go ahead and get in line and I’ll go grab it. You like the peanut butter one right?”
“Uh… yea.”
You leave and go grab the powder and by the time you get back he’s almost done checking out. He pays and you guys head out to his car.
You help him unload everything and then hop in your seat while he puts up the cart. When he gets inside you’re scrolling on your phone while waiting.
You look up at him and smile.
“You promised I could control the music on the way home. Get prepared for non stop break up songs to cope with us being over.”
He looks you in your eyes and the words just kinda tumble out of his mouth, “ Y’know I love you right?”
Your mouth falls open a little and your eyes are stretched wide open. You can’t believe he just said that!? He’s never said that to you before.
It takes you a few seconds before your find words to use, “So we aren’t breaking up?”
Katsuki actually chuckles at you before he leans in and presses his lips softly against yours.
When he pulls back he asks you, “so where are we getting takeout from?”
The grin on your face is huge as you both get situated and buckle yourselves in.
As he starts driving you look over at him and you can see the little smile sitting on his lips.
“Y’know I love you too right?” You say mocking him.
“Obviously. I’m fucking amazing” he says all confidently even though there’s a deep blush settling in over his face.

I bet Miguel can cook REALLY well.
Like CRAZY WELL.
Tumblr media
Being a dad he did have to come up with something to eat for dinner every night
And with Gabriella being a bit picky, sometimes he had to get creative
And some of his favorite memories are the conversations he and Gabbie had while dinner was on the stove
But even now, he loves it. Miguel finds he act of cooking so relaxing. He likes the peace and the order of it
And even if he comes in really really late from HQ - he'll still try and cook something
Fighting sleep while cooking a quesadilla on the stove
He's a Sazon loyalist SORRY ADOBO STANS
There's always tortillas, sour cream and salsa verde in his fridge - freshly made
(if you got those you can figure something out)
And he grows his own cilantro and basil on the window sill
And he'll never use powdered garlic, only fresh
Yes he can eat garlic - yes people on campus ask him that a lot
(he's hot ACTUALLY a vampire)
His seafood is TO DIE FOR
Miguel can make amazing lobster tail, or crab legs (with Old Bay and butter of course)
And his Ceviche is SO GOOD and SO FRESH
Most likely makes everything spicy. It's not even that he 'loves' spicy food - He just makes it spicy AF and acts like he doesn't notice
MEANWHILE you're next to him and it hurts to breathe
He and Hobie are bean stans.
Miguel loves them in Chilli con Carne, with rice, refried, you name it
and Hobie goes through those British blue cans of Heinz baked beans like it's nobodies business
They both think beans are underrated
Makes AMAZING MOLE and even better Tamales
But you have to BEG him for weeks on end to get him to make Tamales cause he can't be bothered - and he will make you help
He likes Avocado, like in general. On toast, with eggs, guacamole use always a staple
He'll often just eat chips and guacamole the whole day in his office and he'll get pissed if the food court is out of it.
Well look at a corn shell ground beef taco and be like 'You think that's a taco? Is that what you honestly believe?'
Loves cooking with other people - in fact Miguel actually just likes working with people in general. That's why Lyla has a personality.
He's good at guiding others during cooking and teaching them things and not bossing them around
OBSESSED LIKE CONCERNINGLY SO
With mango and Tajin
He'll put Tajin seasoning on ANYTHING - the first time Jess saw him put it on watermelon she was like 'what for????'
But he loves fruit in general, watermelon, lychee, guava. A lot of them are grown fresh in the Society gardens
Strawberries are a favorite of his. Gabriella loved strawberries on pancakes
He pronounces lychee - Leechee (not Lie-chee)
He's the fucking PRO at protein shakes and milkshakes
The man needs workout fuel and whey powder and kale and potassium and-
He's in the kitchen 5am getting ready for the gym
Making a shit ton of peanut butter strawberry banana and oats protein smoothie with coconut milk and honey to sweeten
Because he does have a sweet tooth.
Jolly Ranchers are an oral fixation
You can hear him sucking on one, the quiet clacking of it.
Or see him press it into his cheek, lost in thought
But baking and sweets are his secret love
He just doesn't have anyone to test it on anymore - so he doesn't
His flan is the best, and it was one of Gabbie's show faves
He eats parfaits pretty often, and makes them a lot for Jess (and she teases it for it)
Miguel LOVES tres leches cake, as sweet as possible. And fancy stuff like creme brulee
Don't tell anyone but he actually really likes cheesecake he acts like it's a secret
With him cooking get ready for the most sugariest breakfast ever. It's a dad thing.
Whipped cream, fruits, syrup, chocolate chips, you name it.
Sure Miguel shouldn't have been giving Gabriella THAT much sugar THAT early - but with you it's fine so enjoy the stomach ache in two hours
Another dad thing:
COOK OUT FOOD.
Him and Peter get INTENSE.
Miguel swears by charcoal grills, Peter likes propane and gas
Miguel is the tio with the best Hot dogs and relish that HITS
Peter is the burger dad who spends an insane amount of money on Angus beef
Miguel judges your hot dog toppings but says nothing
His ELOTE???? EUPHORIC
Like,,, it'll bring you to tears it's so good - I don't know how he does it
And when it comes to cooking he's ALWAYS willing to learn
He'd rather invite you over and cook you something than going out to eat
He'll learn something you like or where you're from and make something from there
Even better if you can teach him how to make something - the two of you can make it together
But his favorite part by far is setting it down at the table, trying not to seem like he's watching your reaction
And seeing your face light up at the first bite
Or even better -
Seeing you collapse into bed with a food coma
Miguel with cooking and food as a love language

For modern AU, what do you think that the misfits would like food-wise?
Fantastic question! Let’s see:
Lenore: Girl loves protein!! Anything with chicken, steak, you name it. And of course, venison. I don’t think she’s a picky eater, loves a good full plate with varied stuff on it. Loves a big burger on occasion. She has a little bit of a refined palette due to her upbringing but she ends up being a gigantic fan of like food truck style food
Duke: Stereotype to a T. Claims the French do pastries better, but America’s better at everything else. He likes having light breakfasts, think like fruit bowls or toast. Only really has snacks when in front of the TV. He’s also the type to make ramen and put a ton of extra shit in it like onion powder or cheese or egg
Pluto: Literally whatever he can find. He has a preference for fried foods. Will eat a salad if it has breaded fish or chicken in it. LOOOVES sea food. He will order like a salmon somewhere and Duke just starts fucking meowing at him. he’s a stupid cat. Didn’t ever have sushi until Eulalie taught him all he needs to know. Now that’s ALL he orders whenever they get Japanese take out.
Morella: Hearty, filling meals that can easily be shared. Broths, soups, things like that. She loves veggies especially when they’re roasted or steamed. Also loves when a bunch of things are mixed together stir fry style. She’s a huge fan of trying different cheeses when she makes sandwiches to try different flavor combos.
Berenice: Is the type of person to see ‘candied crickets’ on sale, buy them, and then crunch on them loudly. Will try the craziest shit for the hell of it. Has a surprisingly refined palette, also a seafood lover. She loves trying new things and mixing things. Like she would get a burger and put peanut butter on the inside of the bun just to see what it tastes like. Just because she can. Huge fan of gummy worms, and her favorite pastries are always anything cherry flavored.
Eulalie: Is also willing to try weird things. Will share the crickets with Berenice. She loves eating traditional foods that remind her of Japan, especially to judge how close they taste to the real deal. Huge fan of pastas and parmigianas. She’s trying to make sushi pasta a thing but nobody’s down for it.
Also Morella totally tries to host potlucks at her house because that’s her favorite thing in the whole world. She even gets Annabel’s group to come and it’s one big happy not drama filled time!!

Hope yall don't mind some Omegaverse asks,
But I'm dying to know what are O!Deans or O!Sams cravings ? What was the most annoying aspects of their respective pregnancies ? Most paranoid/ overprotective alpha!brother?
[ Let's be real, their both over protective of each other lol, but it feels like Alpha!Sam would try harder to get preggo O!Dean to stay and relax in the bunker for the whole pregnancy. And while Dean likes the bunker well enough, this man CANNOT put still for more than a week]
hi!! we ALWAYS take omegaverse asks, lol!
i think it would be fun if omega!sam's cravings are always sweet things? because i think him being pregnant would turn his health-consciousness into OVERDRIVE. and now his feet hurt and he's exhausted all the time and dean won't even fuck him like he's not gonna break and sam wants to eat an entire quart of chocolate ice cream with his goddamn hands!!!!!!
and now dean has sympathy cravings and buys them each pints of nice, specialty ice cream and sam is two seconds away from crying both in gratitude and in fury!!!
he also really loves salt and vinegar chips, and crushes them up so he can put them on his ice cream. dean loves that sam is eating things for joy rather than strict necessity and WILL hand feed him m&ms or chips or reese's cups.
omega!dean's cravings are random and insane. sam wakes up one night and dean isn't in bed and he freaks the fuck out but dean is crouched in front of the pantry dipping cold day-old bacon in peanut butter like why isn't this working?? he wants lemon juice in yogurt and cries when it curdles immediately. he blends three eggs into protein powder and drinks it like a man starved.
he pours pickle juice into ramen that he's already put orange juice in and topped with frosted flakes and moans in ecstasy when he shoves it in his mouth.
most normal dean craving? crunchy peanut butter. he can't get enough of the stuff. he puts it on everything and licks it off the sides of the jar when he runs out. sam doesn't mind because 'actually, dean, it's really rich in some good protein and vitamins like magnesium and--' and dean cuts him off with a glare. all of their kisses taste like peanut butter for all nine months of dean's pregnancy and sam--years later--still gets a little turned on when he eats a PB&J and can't explain why.
most annoying part about sam's pregnancy is the mood swings, if one can even call it that. he's having a completely normal afternoon, then he's having a panic attack under the table and clawing at his throat. he bursts into tears at the drop of a hat. he wakes up and is so furious at dean for not hanging his towel up that he doesn't talk to him all day. he gets out of the shower and is so blindingly horny that he doesn't let dean go to bed until three a.m., and even then because sam himself collapsed from exhaustion. and for sam, who prizes personal control, hates this. he hates not being able to control his emotions, and that any little thing can set him off wildly. he feels like he's going insane. he's so filled with anxiety constantly that he's going to be a terrible parent.
most annoying part about dean's pregnancy is that the baby won't stop MOVING. it kicks his bladder or liver or stomach all hours of all days, and sam gets so misty-eyed excited even eight months in, wanting to feel it. the baby gets excited when it hears sam talking and kicks up a fuss, and when dean tells sam this, sam cries. dean tears into sam for 'infesting me with this gigantor baby,' and sam does that thing where you stand behind a pregnant person and hold up their belly for them to take pressure off their back. dean's moan of relief is so loud that cas pops out of the room because he thinks they started having sex. dean's back hurts all the time from how big the baby is and the constant moving keeps him up at night and makes his body ache. he cries from exhaustion and pain and gets furious for being such a 'weak' omega who can't even carry a baby right.
who is the most paranoid alpha? dean. who is most over-protective alpha? sam.
alpha!dean is constantly worried that some supernatural being is coming to tear his family apart, because that's all monsters do, in his personal experience. here is baby sammy, now pregnant with a baby. dean is inconsolable. omega!sam rolls his eyes, but alpha!dean starts researching how to make their circle of protection wider. he won't let omega!sam go anywhere without dean, and dean won't go anywhere without at least two guns and three knives.
now, alpha!sam is over-protective. he thinks he's super chill and normal, until dean--glowing with new pregnancy and smelling incredible--and he are at the grocery store and an alpha comes over to ask dean where he got the bacon in their cart. sam, over by the dairy, practically teleports back to dean and starts growling. dean is not allowed to go out in public without sam, and not allowed to take more than three steps away from him at any given time.
you are completely correct about dean going stir-crazy! sam is used to being at home, and most of his hobbies are inside hobbies (e.g., reading, researching, even running can be done on a treadmill), while dean only has TV watching. he's most at peace when he's driving on a windy road with the windows down and music blaring.
sam insists on going with him and is practically vibrating with anxiety the entire time, ruining any enjoyment dean could've gotten from it. eventually, dean gets too big to get behind the wheel, and he melts into a puddle of frustrated fury-tears.
one time, when his stomach isn't too big, he goes on a drive in the middle of the night without telling sam. he comes back to the bunker a few hours later, finally at peace and back to normal, and finds the bunker torn apart and one of the other cars gone.
dean calls him, and sam picks up before the phone even has time to ring. he's out of breath and panicked and a minute and a half later, sam practically kicks open the front door. as soon as he sees dean, standing at the bottom of the stairs in the war room, he collapses to his hands and knees and retches.
i thought something had happened, sam sputters through a barely-leashed panic attack, when dean stumbles over and lowers himself next to him. you were gone and there wasn't a--a note, nothing. please don't ever do that again. i'm sorry. i thought--
dean doesn't ask him what he thought. all of it adds up to dean and their baby lying in a ditch somewhere. he rubs tears off of sam's cheeks and resigns himself to being a homebody. he can't even be mad when sam is this torn up about it.
sam preens when dean makes a nest out of sam's shirts, and dean--still apologetic--lets sam into his nest to hold him for a bit. it's nice. it's really nice. dean can almost forget how much his back hurts.
sam won't let dean lift anything, ever, and once hopped out of his chair to stop dean from bending down to pick a movie to watch, insisting on grabbing the VCR tape himself. sam will stand behind him and pace if dean wants to cook food, like the pancake batter is going to grow claws and try to come at him. dean almost thinks his pregnancy is harder on sam, until sam gets to hold dean at night, hand over his stomach as the baby moves, nose tucked right against dean's scent gland, and he can't stay too mad at him. he tries, though. he definitely tries.
thank you so much for sending this in, anon! <3 i clearly love gabbing about this, lol!!

daily log ₊˚⊹
Tumblr media Tumblr media
today went wonderfully, although i still haven't gotten the hang of fixing my sleeping schedule. i'm trying to sleep earlier and wake up earlier, but i end up falling asleep a bit late and wake up late as well, which doesn't give me enough time throughout the day to do everything i want to accomplish. but despite that, i managed to do most of the things!
- did my daily workout, it was cardio today :) i managed to get into the habit of exercising regularly which i'm really grateful for because it's been keeping me sane lol
- practiced javascript for a little over an hour, i'm aiming to enhance my skills this summer
- cleaned my room and organised my shelf. been meaning to rearrange my things and i've been putting it off for so long, but i decided to finally do it. i listened to this youtube video on self compassion and shame, and how shame is rooted in the need for love. it was really insightful, definitely recommend watching/listening if you have an hour to spare
- i'm trying to incorporate more protein and really just maximising my protein intake and omg this snack i discovered is so so good... its basically yoghurt mixed with peanut butter, vanilla protein powder, and cinnamon, and i used that as a dip for apples! very delicious very filling
- i'm going to try meditating after i do my bedtime yoga so i can get back into the habit of meditating regularly, i miss it tbh
i hope all of you are doing well ♡ can't believe i managed to post twice in a row this week woah! gonna try to keep this up lol

I'm bored and it's like 2AM so here's some mid/low effort food, mostly cause I hope it helps someone but also so I can have a list I can reference quickly when I don't know what to cook/get in a slump and can't put much effort into cooking
Broccoli and rice
- Cup of broccoli (or more, I like more)
- Butter (salted or unsalted or margarine, just some kind of oil, whatever you have lying around)
- Some kind of instant rice (I usually use minute rice for rushed meal prep so keep that in mind during the instructions)
- Curry powder
- Boullion cubes
- Optional; garlic powder, onion powder, and parmesan
1) Start making your rice (minute rice usually has a 1:1 ratio of water and rice)
Add curry powder (measure with your heart) and boullion cube to the hot water before the rice (for the cubes I use, one cube = about 2 cups of stock, so I cut them roughly into quarters to adjust when cooking only for myself)
Leave it alone. Seriously leave it alone until you are done cooking do not touch it you don't need to touch it.
2) Cut or rip apart your broccoli into bite sized chunks
3) Heat a pan over medium heat
Melt some butter (again, measure with your heart. Mostly because I genuinely did not and never have measured this; the important thing is making sure you have enough so nothing sticks)
Chuck in your broccoli
Cook until most of the broccoli is crispy and browned
Take off the heat (add garlic powder, onion powder, and parmesan here)
4) Chuck broccoli and rice onto a plate or into a bowl
*Asparagus is really good cooked like this too if you want to add it or sub out some of the broccoli
Tortilla Pizza
- Tortillas (Two large tortillas is what I usually have lying around and is a meal for me, this is surprisingly filling for what it is)
- Pizza sauce
- Grated cheese
- Optional; literally any other topping you have the time and energy to prepare
1) Set oven to 350°F
2) Spread sauce on tortillas; add cheese and any other toppings
3) Bake for about five minutes
*I'd put this on parchment paper and just bake directly on the rack of your oven; idk about you but I don't have a pan that comfortably fits two large tortillas
*Keep an eye on this while it bakes; you may need to go a little longer, but don't let the edges get too brown, tortillas burn easily
Meat and Cheese Board (Grownup lunchables/"Whatever I had in the fridge")
- Block or sliced cheese
- Fruit (Apples and grapes immediately come to mind)
- Jam/jelly/marmalade (World's your oyster; I like fig marmalade and dandelion jelly, they go well with apples and cheddar)
- Crackers
- Deli meat (Turkey/chicken breast slices my go to; even better if you have real turkey/chicken breast leftover from another meal)
- Crackers (Any kind; triscuits, saltines, melba toast, pretzel crackers, crusty bread, whatever)
- Optional; peanut butter, cream cheese
1) Measure ingredients with your heart; what can you/want to eat?
2) Cut fruit and cheese into bite sized pieces
3) Put any jam, jelly, marmalade, or other spreads/dips into bowls (or drop directly on your plate/cutting board for less cleanup)
4) Put everything either on a plate or the cutting board you used
*Yes this is a valid dinner, it does not matter that it's just a bunch of random shit thrown on a plate. It has fruit. It has protein. It has carbs. It has fats. It has things you like. It is both body nourishing and soul nourishing. It is a good dinner.
*Sub out or add things where you see fit. Peanut butter can become almond or soy butter, apples can become pears, add some vegetables, use any kind of cheese you want/have at home, if you have leftover meat from last night use that instead, don't use meat at all; this is my favourite "I don't know what to make" meal because you literally can't fuck it up and best case scenario you only have to wash a knife, a cutting board, and whatever utensils you used to scoop out any jam or peanut butter
Mason jar noodles
- 1L Mason jar
- Rice noodles (I use the ones that are already separated into single serves because I cannot for the life of me accurately measure how much rice noodle one person can eat
- Vegetables (frozen or fresh, whatever you have/can manage today. I like broccoli, baby corn, and peppers)
- Cooked chicken breast, shredded or cut into chunks
- 1 tbs low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbs sriracha
- Chicken stock cubes
- Minced garlic (maybe like a teaspoon or two? I never measure this)
1) Cut vegetables into bite sized chunks and chuck them into the mason jar (if they're frozen and already bite sized just go ahead and chuck them into the jar. Measure with your heart, only you know how much vegetable you want)
2) Put sriracha, soy sauce, garlic, stock cube, and chicken into the jar and mix everything around. Rest rice noodles on top (as mentioned before, my stock cubes would make a lot more chicken broth than I need; I usually cut them in half but it usually ends up being a little too much)
3) Close up the jar, store in fridge until ready to eat. When it's food time, pour in enough hot water to cover the noodles (I eat straight out of the jar with chopsticks but it's a lot easier to pour them into a bowl if you can
*Bring your jar to room temperature before eating; I am begging you to not subject your glass jar to thermal shock and end up with glass in your hands
*Disclaimer that I heard this one from a dietician on YouTube (Nutrition By Kylie), and that this was intended to be meal prep and eaten at a later time, but nobody stops me from just chucking everything into a bowl and eating it then and there so nobody is going to stop you (maybe take some time on a good day/a day you aren't busy and prep a few of these ahead of time so that you can just pour boiling water into a jar and you have food ready to go on days you just can't cook for one reason or another)
Chicken Wraps
- Chicken strips (or nuggets, or chicken burgers, or leftover chicken breast; any chicken that you don't have to do much with, I just like crispy chicken so that's what I wrote)
- Tortillas
- Lettuce
- Sauce of choice (I like caesar or ranch)
- Shredded cheese
- Optional; bacon and tomato
1) Cook chicken strips according to directions (or cut/shred and reheat chicken breast)
2) Tear or cut lettuce into shreds (or just use the whole leaf, I don't bother cutting it half the time)
3) Put everything on a tortilla; roll it up
*Obviously not the end-all-be-all of chicken wrap possibilities, change whatever you want about it, this is just a reminder that you can do something ~different~ with and add to your chicken strips if you're getting sick of them
Yogurt (Hey, sometimes the simple stuff escapes us when we're overwhelmed)
- Cup of vanilla greek yogurt (or whatever you have lying around, my family just always has greek yogurt and it has a decent protein content)
- Berries (blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries don't need to be cut; strawberries don't *need* to be cut but I'd suggest it if they're a decent size)
- Granola (crush up a crunchy granola bar if you really want to)
- Optional; honey, dandelion jelly, some kind of jam, etc.
1) Put yogurt in a bowl
2) Sprinkle on granola
3) Throw berries and optional honey/dandelion jelly/jam on top
*I use enough granola to make a layer on top of my yogurt but I also love granola a little too much to be normal; one serving for most store bought granola is roughly 1/4 cup
*I cover about half of my bowl with fruit
*Home made granola is also 1000x better than store bought and if you have not made your own before please try it at least once
Ready Made Food
*Also a perfectly valid thing
*They aren't the best nutritionally but the important thing is that you are eating
*If all you can do today is put pizza pockets in the microwave or open a lunchable, you are still eating and that is good
*Focus on eating consistently first we can worry about nutrition later
*Do not feel bad over canned ravioli

Almond Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
So, my husband is a chocolate fiend. So much so that I have to physically hide any and all chocolate in the house. Yes, this includes chocolate chips for any cookies I want to make. He's also losing weight with me with me and wants to join the Army National Guard. He's about 40 lbs shy of being able to enlist so this has been a huge goal for him and a goal for me because I want him to follow his dreams too.
I made him these cookies and he absolutely loves them. You have to have something a little sweet to keep you on the right track. Cutting everything out of your diet and only eating veggies, fruits, and meat isn't the best option for us. While we do watch some carbs, we don't practice keto - it's all about the protein for us (and I try to get fat free/low fat when I can). So here's my quick cookie recipe that I tweaked and they turned out pretty good!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 C of Almond Flour
1 t Baking Powder
1/4 t Salt
1/2 C PB Fit Peanut Butter
1/4 C Sugar Free Pancake Syrup
1/4 C Honey
1 Egg
1/2 t Vanilla Extract
1/2 C Chocolate Chips (you can add more if desired)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. Mix almond flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl.
3. Mix the sugar free syrup, honey, PB Fit Peanut butter powder, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. If you desire it to be more "wet" you can add a bit of water or milk.
4. Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients. Add the chocolate chips.
5. Roll into small balls and place on parchment paper. Put a little parchment paper on top of the balls and flatten to desired thickness of the cookie. Note: These cookies won't spread out when baked.
6. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes depending on cookie thickness and oven type.
Tips: If you don't want to do sugar free pancake syrup or honey, you could always substitute for 1/2 C apple sauce or a zero-calorie sweetener monk fruit.
Servings: 9 Cookies (each cookie is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter)
Calories: 250 per cookie
Carbs: 23.9g
Fat: 14.3g
Protein: 9.2g
If you forgo chocolate chips, it comes to 179 calories per cookie. The main takeaway here is the protein content for one cookie. Calories are easy to manipulate in a recipe, but protein is where it's at.

What I ate today as a pcos/BED recovery girlie the first day of 2025
I know some people say New Years resolutions are too much pressure and lame, but I enjoy them. And, of course, I have plenty. The biggest ones being no longer engaging with toxic people in my life (aka everyone I share a blood relation with), and reaching my health goals. Also to finally make wearable crochet garment that isn't a hat, gloves or scarf lol. Every day is a new day to work on these goals! Had the day off work, so did my husband, so we chilled. I went on a later morning jog, which wasn't my best jog but I still finished the 40 minutes I had planned, so it was a win!
For breakfast, my usual vega creamy chocolate protein shake while I was stretching after my shower, then made my greek yogurt bowl, which is a tablespoon of creamy natural peanut butter (teddy this week) and some pure cocoa powder mixed into half a cup of lactose free fage greek yogurt, topped with about 1/4 cup of blueberries and 30 grams and Nicely Elizabeth's grain free coconut sugar granola. I've decided to chill on the black tea because lately I feel like my sleep hasn't been as good, so I had cinnamon rose tea with the greek yogurt bowl.
For lunch I was deeply lazy, so I had a Dave's Killer everything bagel toasted with about two tablespoons of Green Valley lactose free cream cheese (when I found this it was my new reason for living.... I love this cream cheese so much). Then I had a cookie dough Aloha protein bar that I warmed up for 30 seconds in the microwave. If you haven't gotten on the warm up protein bar train..... get on board. It's amazing, I've been eating the Aloha bars for years, specifically the cookie dough flavor because warmed up it truly just tastes like a warm cookie, stupid delicious. Had that with another cup of cinnamon rose tea because I'm totally addicted to that tea specifically.
I was deeply, deeply lazy for dinner so my wonderful husband cooked. We kind of scrounged because my original plan for a kale soup was ruined by me accidentally eating all the kale for the week, whoops! So my husband made quesadillas, he used taco sized whole wheat tortillas we had in the fridge, a mix of of Cabot lactose free pepper jack and monterey jack cheeses, and he mashed up and spiced some black beans to put inside. It was delicious, and I ended the evening with my usual sweet tooth food, today a small fuji apple.
I'm really happy with how I ate today. It was a good "day off" menu for the day, kind of lazy, yummy, easy, a little indulgent, while still following low simple carb (see how I use the word "simple".... I won't give up my whole wheat carbs, idc), low sugar, and high in protein. A good way to start the year! Also.... started a crochet top.... we will see how it goes.

Enjoy the smoky flavor of grilled seitan skewers paired with a zesty, spicy peanut sauce. This vegan BBQ recipe is perfect for outdoor gatherings and satisfies both protein cravings and taste buds.
Ingredients: 1 cup seitan, sliced into skewer-sized pieces. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 2 tablespoons maple syrup. 2 tablespoons sesame oil. 1 teaspoon smoked paprika. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/2 cup peanut butter. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon sriracha. 1 tablespoon maple syrup. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. 1/4 cup water. Skewers for grilling.
Instructions: Put soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, smoked paprika, and garlic powder in a bowl and mix them together. Make sure the seitan slices are well covered when you add them to the marinade. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Skewer slices of seitan that have been marinated. Warm up the grill over medium-high heat. Seitan skewers should be grilled for 8 to 10 minutes, turning them over every so often, until they are golden brown and just a little crispy. Over low heat, mix peanut butter, soy sauce, sriracha, maple syrup, rice vinegar, and water in a saucepan. Warm everything up and stir it until it's smooth. Grilled seitan skewers should be served with spicy peanut sauce on the side.

There is a lot of plant-based protein and healthy ingredients in these vegan peanut butter protein bars. They're great as a snack on the go or as fuel after a workout.
Ingredients: 1 cup rolled oats. 1/2 cup almond flour. 1/2 cup vegan protein powder. 1/4 cup maple syrup. 1/4 cup peanut butter. 1/4 cup almond milk. 1/4 cup chopped almonds. 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips.
Instructions: Roll out the oats, add the almond flour, and mix in the vegan protein powder in a large bowl. Soy milk, peanut butter, and maple syrup should be added. Mix everything together well. Add the dark chocolate chips and chopped almonds. Spread the mixture out evenly and pack it down in a baking dish that has been lined with parchment paper. For at least two hours, until firm, put in the fridge. Cut into bars and store in a container that won't let air in once it's set.

Alright. I am extremely proud of this particular dish.
Yesterday I woke up with the sudden urge to make Étouffée. I say sudden. it was not sudden. I have been neck fuckin' deep in the Hazbin fandom and everyone has decided this is The Dish that Alastor would have enjoyed as a child. That and Gumbo. Soooo here we are.
I have never made Étouffée but that wasn't about to stop me. So about a dozen recipes and at least as many 'family recipe' videos later, I went to the store.
I'm not out here saying this is the most authentic thing in the world. but it really was delicious. And... easy? Also I cook random things quite often and this is just the first of me putting down what i made into a post. Half the share, and half so i can find notes on what I did last time lol.
Ingredients (I'm bad at measurements. the only thing i measured was the butter and flour here) 2lbs shrimp 1/2 cup butter (salted) 1/2 cup flour White wine Seafood Stock (1 pint) 1 green bell pepper 2 med yellow onions 2 celery ribs 1 bunch of green onions enough tomatoes for about 1 cup of chopped tomatoes 1 - 8oz can of tomato paste Creole Seasoning Garlic Powder Cayenne Pepper Worcestershire sauce Cooked Rice (Fluffy/long grain rice) 1 lemon
Pre cut and clean everything. for the love of god, once the roux starts you are on a timer. You'll want to finely dice (and im talking like a quarter of an inch cubes) 1 green bell pepper, two ribs of celery, and 2 med yellow onions (or one large). For the green onion, separate it by whites and greens, because we will use them separately.
Clean/prep your protein. For me this meant de-veining/de-shelling my shrimp. If you wanna be fancy and make your own stock, save the shells for that. Season your meats a bit with some Creole seasoning/salt/pepper/cayenne pepper (is there cayenne pepper in the creole seasoning? Yes. but we want more). Squeeze the juice of one lemon onto the seasoned shrimp, and put that shit in the fridge.
Crush/chop/whatever your garlic. as much as feels right for your soul.
Put all your prepped food in bowls, so you're ready to go. You can mix most the veggies together, but keep the garlic and green onion separate for now. Make sure everything is in reach of the stove outside of the meat, bc its gonna be real difficult to step away from the roux at all.
Make a roux. If you want a more cajun flavor you'll want to make an oil based roux, but for that creole flavor you can go more french with a butter roux. Do not rush this part. It will take at least 40m, but the longer the better. You can google how to make a roux, but I did half a cup of butter, half a cup of flour... and then just whisk that shit until you can't whisk no more... and then go another like 5-10m lol. It should be on a low-med heat. You want to brown the flour/butter but Not Burn it. it should be smooth and smell nice and nutty :D. Do Not Stop Stirring. Ever. (more cajun roux will use oil/lard. if we're leaning creole we can steal from the french and use butter, butter has a lower smokepoint tho, so be careful not to burn the milk fats)
Once the roux is a nice Peanut butter/ carmel color and smells deliciously nutty, it's time to add in the veggies. Slowly pour the chopped veggies into your pot with the roux and mix. You want to coat the veggies in the roux, and then let them cook down a bit before moving on. about 5-10m. (you're gonna keep it on that med-med/low heat until its time to bring it to a boil. Low. Slow. and Developing those Flavors)
Here I would do the first layer of seasoning. We're gonna layer in seasoning as we go, so don't over do it. But once you've cooked down the veg a bit, start layering in creole seasoning, cayenne, white pepper, and your crushed/minced garlic. Stir in.
Add in one 8oz can of Tomato paste and about 1 cup of either fresh chopped or canned tomato chunks. Stir Stir again and let that cook down a bit. (5m)
Time for the liquids. I started with some white wine (whatever floats your boat) about half a cup at a time, to deglaze anything on the bottom of the pan. Once I'd added about 1.5 cups of wine I switched to seafood stock. If you don't have access to seafood stock you can always use a chicken/veggie stock.
Add in the stock slowly, stirring as you go. The sauce will be quite loose, but that is okay. The roux will do it's thing after it reaches a boil.
Season again, add in your bay leaves (2-3 of those babies, you aren't driving) and TASTE IT. Start tasting that broth and season until it feels right.
Now it's time for the Étouffée - we're gonna smother this shit. Bring the pot to a Rolling boil. Like, bubblin' across the whole surface of the pot, not just the edges. Stir consistently to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom.
Once you get it to a boil, turn it back onto simmer, and let it sit! At least 30m, but you can let it cook longer. You want all the flavors to marry and the veggies to break down and the roux to do it's thing. I was in the middle of a gaming event and i let mine simmer for like just over an hour. While it's simmering, check on it often, stir it, taste it. Add seasoning if ya need it!
It's finally time. If you went the shrimp route (or crawfish) now is the time to add that in. Bring the pot back up to a boil, add your seafood, and stir for 4-5 minutes or until the protein is cooked through. (this is also where I added a splash of Worcestershire, the juice of the other half of the lemon, and the whites of the green onions.)
Serve over jasmine rice (or any long grain rice of your choice) and top with some fresh green onions/scallions
That's it. I know its a lot of steps. but like. It's mostly just chopping veggies. stirring. and letting it do it's thing. It's so so good and imma have it for dinner for a 3rd night in a row today! Enjoy :D
