Nevermore chapter 117 spoiler

So huh... I have something to think about the new chapter.

We know that the Wendigo is after Lenore, initially we think that he smells Lenore, but apparently, no, he smells specifically her blood.

And in this scene we have confirmation of this, Only on their hands is Lenore's scent, as that is where her blood came into contact with them because of the oath they made in chapter 103, If it was just Lenore's scent itself, the Wendigo would smell her all over their bodies, especially Duke who slept leaning against her.

And the Wendigo is probably smelling Lenore's curse, which runs through her veins, so when she cut her own hand and shook her friends', her blood mixed with theirs,mainly in the bandages they are using, so we already know that the Wendigo only knows Lenore's positioning because she is injured.

Spoiler fast pass chapter 121(You can ignore this, it won't make much difference, but it's just an extra detail)

In the most recent chapter,We see the Wendigo chasing Pluto, but when he is about to attack, the Duke appears to distract him, and apparently the Duke already has a theory that the Wendigo smells blood, because he says

"So if it's blood you are after... Then I'm happy to oblige"

And the Wendigo lets go of Pluto as Duke takes off the bandages, leaving the blood exposed, possibly increasing the exposure of Lenore's blood scent. That's why the Wendigo goes after him, he chases blood, so he probably doesn't know what Lenore looks like either, he just looks for the blood scent and he will attack anyone who has the scent.

Now I can finally get to the point I want.

Why does Annabel's ring have a scent? Because even if the Wendigo could smell Lenore in general, it still wouldn't make sense since Lenore never touched the ring, However, we know that the items they have there come from when they were alive, which makes me think that Lenore made the same blood oath with Annabel, and at the moment of the oath, Annabel was wearing her ring.

And because Annabel trusts Lenore so blindly, it makes me think that Lenore has done much bigger crazy things than we know so far, this includes perhaps a possible pact?

No, but I love the way lenabel relationship is written. They're such opposites on all levels of the plot.

Lenore is red one and Annabel is blue one.

Lenore is associated with fire and Annabel with ice.

Lenore was considered madwoman during her lifetime and she died from a gunshot to the head and even in Nevermore she often acts impulsively and thoughtlessly, guided by her heart even when it doesn't make sense, and Annabel is considered cold and cruel, but smart and calculating and she was shot in the chest and her spectre has a heart-shaped hole.

Lenore was a recluse who had no one but Annabel so she was willing to sacrifice the whole world for her, but Annabel was a socialite who was afraid to risk her reputation for Lenore. BUT IN NEVERMORE Lenore is the social butterfly and she has a bunch of friends that she doesn't want to lose cause of Annabel's schemes while Annabel is a paranoid who refuses to trust anyone but Lenore and she doesn't care how low she falls as long as it's for Lenore`s sake

If I was a bit smarter, I would have saved this for my 200th post, but now it's dedicated to finding Ada in Minnesota, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Anyway, here's this project I've been working on for *checks notes* over 2 months. There’s no way to justify the effort-to-quality ratio of this. I’ve already started planning my next one. (I have problems.)

Whatever, go read Nevermore.

I’m actually surprised no one else has put Nevermore to this song. King George III as a toxic ex was my favorite part of Hamilton, and what are Lenore and Annabel if not toxic? I really wanted to use two different covers because I imagined both of them singing this to each other. And there was so much material that fit! I’ve read this webcomic over three times now?

In that many months.

This story has a deathgrip on me.

That aside, I feel like I learned a lot from making this video. Well, I better have after spending a month+ on it. Even if it’s not exactly what I envisioned, I got to play with keyframes, masking, transitions, lyric timing (do not get me started. This was the worst part), audio balancing, and aspect ratios.

The end result is still pretty basic, but at least I know my way around my programs a little better.

So we were discussing this art with a friend, and I noticed that the statues on the sides were different from the original painting. The original depicts cherubs, but in the rnf redraw they were replaced by statues of Roman goddesses.

Near Lenore, there is obviously Artemis (WITH A DEER). Behind Annabel is Venus.

I just think it's neat okay

One thing this makes me think of is that Annabel must have a VERY complicated relationship with physical contact. Like, it doesn't seem like she's averse to touch (as is Prospero, for example), but in general, except when she's with Lenore or the rare occasions where she allows Ada to hang off of her, she doesn't seem like a physically affectionate person or one who is comfortable making physical contact. I get the feeling that, for Annabel, physical contact is not something you do when you are affectionate with someone, but when someone (herself or someone else) is being vulnerable. So, she feels comfortable being vulnerable with Lenore, but when someone else does something like Prospero hugging her? She becomes completely numb because she doesn't feel comfortable being vulnerable with other people.
