The new (and improved) Abigail!

After making the past few characters, I've been itching to give Abigail a redesign. It's been like, 6 years since the last one, so I figure it was about time. I wanted her to look a bit more "punk rock" and I think that was accomplished! She even got a new tattoo and haircut out of it!

The sheet was done by @mthsmelo, who did a bang up job! I look forward to working with him in the future on other characters!

Here are some of my latest gesture and expression drawings of Jimmy Skramz the jackal! Jimmy is a vocalist and guitarist in the emo band Scream At The Moon, and his bandmates are Emma Kitteridge, Cassie Pawssom, and Troy Campbull.

Jimmy has a cautious personality and it takes him a while to feel comfortable around new people and situations. But once you gain his trust (and if you can look past his flea problem...) you'll find him to be kind, very loyal, and selfless. Sure, he can certainly be moody, but he is also a dependable friend who will be by your side when the going gets tough. This resourceful scavenger is clever and creative, and experiences emotions and life in general with a great deal of intensity. Though he is frequently anxious, he tries to keep his sense of humor even in the darkest times - and he's definitely gotten through some rough patches.

Rock & Roar 2 will go public after the current Rock & Roar comic ends. The story takes place 20 years after the first one, in the year 2006; a time of MySpace, pop punk, and the third wave of emo.

i think in the hamster wheel of my mind a big part of where people go wrong with eddie and his shitty garage band as an extension is that they for some bizarre reason think he's gene simmons metal when he's jack black metal. heavy metal. he's tenacious d metal. he's school of rock. he's stoner lord of the rings metal he nearly wore blue jeans and plaid. jack black literally in real life once said eddie was the best character bc he's heavy metal like him. LOOK AT THIS

#🍦#answer it's bc people think he's some mishmash of all alternative scenes without any actual knowledge of where the mashing occurs 😭#eddie is . a heavy metal guy. A cool one. a nice one even. he likes rock and roll #it's so funny when ppl try and describe it and they've never heard the stuff he actually listens to in their lives for some reason #literally so much of the appeal of eddie's character within his subculture is that its theatrical and dramatic but its still grounded #he's very alternative and Out There but he's still just some guy. he's not wearing spiked leather jackets #in fact he's not wearing any of the other kinds of leather jackets i've seen people say he would ... TO ME #sts #if u haven't seen the clip he then proceeds to air guitar the MoP melody then shouts heavy metal is everywhere #i don't even know how to explain this bc it's like ... okay #the general .. VIBE? aestheticsm? is kind of similar to what people sometimes portray but they're missing thst it's tongue in cheek #like it's like that buff poster of him being this anachronistic homage to heavy metal album covers #fire and satanic imagery and skulls and lightning and big drama and ROCK AND ROLL #it's rock and ROLL man...#and people r making him this weird sanitised dork LOL 😭 when he's a dork in a different more fun way.. imo #and it's not that those types of people don't exist and that they're not cool in their own way cuz they are sure but that's not THIS GUY #he is an 80S METALHEAD... and yeah i try and ground him in thinfs and poke and prod at it until it fits my own understanding of alternative #scenes better but that's bc i've had a hand in the punk scene for years and years #i dunno sometimes i feel like ppl r just not doing the full potential and then going way too hard in this super specific direction #and he ends up first of all usually just a massive douchebag not sure what that's about. But a guy who he would in canon HATE 😭#YOU ARE MAKING HIM A POSER. is what i'm saying #he is alwyas some guy before he's anything else and before he's that he's a 20 year old loser #you need to reflect this... You need to bottle it. ugh. ugh #so much of this reminds me of the time someone was like he would never wear PLAID #like are you kidding me. are you actually kidding me rn #ppl have this weird arstheticised mostly modern and mostly literallt just eboy Idea of what he'd wear it's crazy to me sorry #also it's ugly #i also think. this is so long lol . anyway . i also think going too ''authentic'' in the 80s metalhead direction also lands u w different #problems. my advice to people trying to write or draw alternative characters is they are People. before they are anything else #🍏

🔥Ablaze - from Kismet

I loved Kismet! even if they apeared like, 4 mins. I would like to write something about this fellas but first I think I need to put some more personality so let's start with Ablaze.

I think Ablaze would have like a Pop-Punk vibe (I drew him while I was lisenning to this playlist "it's not a phase, mom. it's a lifestyle" || Pop Punk Playlist of sinpai https://youtu.be/Wp_VrvtGjqE?si=KUtVonJOiF3Izf8q and I was like, "yeah, this can fit him")

I have this head-canon that his parent could have come from the Rock territory and ended up in the Troll Tree but was picked up for not being like the rest of the Trolls in the tree, alas, leaving Ablaze orphaned or smth like that.

I think that he could like the energy drinks like gatorate or monster and maybe have a thing for smoking.

I also have this idea of him being the guitarrist of the band and the oldest member and I'm still trying to figure out more little details for his persona.

Also, I'll stick on my head canon of Ablaze being, if not a Rock Troll, at least half Rock, so like, a Pop-Rock Troll based on this point of his trivia in the Trolls Trollpedia:

In the Spanish dub of Trolls Band Together, Ablaze said "¡Qué se arme el rock and roll!" roughly translating to "Let the rock and roll happen!/Let's make rock and roll happen!" or "Let's create rock and roll!/Let rock and roll be put together!" so he's basically saying, "Let's rock and roll", which could hint to him being a Rock Troll. If this is to be true, then we can assume Branch joined Ablaze and Kismet after Trolls World Tour.

Also just a little something, in the drawing I tried to put some more color into Ablaze's hair and it ended up having a lot of blues and turquoise colors, but I promise is a pale yellow, orange, a red-magenta and a more reddish purple.
