An extension for library and book lovers
Library Extension allows you to see if your library has a book you're interested in and put a hold on it without having to go to the library site to do it.
They have extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
The extension works for several dozen countries, so it's worth checking if your country is included.
You then select which country subdivision you live in and which library systems you want to add the extension to.
Once the library is added in, when you go to shopping sites like Amazon, you should see on the side whether the library has any copies of the book!

How do you write a book (steps) and publish it?
Writing and publishing a book can be a fulfilling yet complex process. Here’s a comprehensive step-by-step guide to help you navigate through writing, editing, and self-publishing:
Phase 1: Planning and Writing the Book
1. Choose Your Book’s Genre and Concept
- What to do: Decide what type of book you want to write (e.g., fiction, non-fiction, memoir, self-help). Clarify your book’s purpose and audience.
- Why: Knowing your genre and target audience will guide your writing style, tone, and content.
2. Research and Develop Ideas
- What to do: If your book requires background knowledge (especially for non-fiction), research thoroughly before starting. For fiction, you can brainstorm plot ideas, characters, and settings.
- Why: Adequate research ensures credibility and accuracy in your work.
3. Create an Outline
- What to do: Draft a detailed outline of your book, organizing chapters, key points, and character arcs.
- Why: An outline helps to structure your book and ensure a logical flow of ideas. It also prevents writer's block and disorganized content.
4. Start Writing the First Draft
- What to do: Write your book based on your outline. Don’t worry about perfection at this stage; the goal is to get your ideas onto the page.
- Why: The first draft is about getting your story or message down. Editing comes later.
5. Set a Writing Schedule
- What to do: Set a daily or weekly word count goal and create a realistic schedule to stay on track.
- Why: Regular writing habits keep you progressing and help you complete your manuscript on time.
6. Revise and Edit
- What to do: After completing your first draft, set it aside for a while, then return with fresh eyes to revise. Focus on improving structure, flow, and clarity.
- Why: Revising your draft ensures the content is cohesive, logical, and engaging. You’ll refine ideas, fix plot holes, and strengthen your writing.
Phase 2: Editing and Polishing
7. Get Feedback
- What to do: Share your manuscript with beta readers, critique groups, or writing partners for feedback.
- Why: Fresh perspectives can help identify issues you might have missed, such as pacing problems, plot inconsistencies, or weak character development.
8. Hire a Professional Editor
- What to do: Depending on your budget and needs, hire an editor for developmental edits, copy edits, or proofreading.
- Why: Professional editors will polish your manuscript by fixing grammar, punctuation, and clarity issues while also improving the structure and flow.
Phase 3: Formatting and Design
9. Format the Manuscript
- What to do: Ensure your manuscript is formatted correctly for both print and eBook versions. You can either do this yourself using tools like Vellum or Scrivener, or hire a professional.
- Why: Proper formatting is crucial for a professional-looking book, whether it’s printed or sold digitally.
10. Design a Cover
- What to do: Hire a professional cover designer or use design tools like Canva for creating an eye-catching cover.
- Why: A book cover is the first thing readers see and can heavily influence whether they pick up your book. It needs to look professional and convey the essence of your story or message.
Phase 4: Publishing the Book
11. Choose Your Publishing Route
- What to do: Decide whether you want to self-publish or pursue traditional publishing.
- Traditional publishing: Send query letters to literary agents or publishers.
- Self-publishing: Publish your book independently through platforms like Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), IngramSpark, or others.
- Why: Each route has its pros and cons. Traditional publishing offers prestige and broader distribution, but it's competitive and slow. Self-publishing provides full control and quicker publishing but requires you to handle marketing and distribution.
12. Select a Self-Publishing Platform (for Self-Publishing)
- What to do: If you choose self-publishing, select a platform such as:
- Amazon KDP: For eBook and paperback distribution via Amazon.
- IngramSpark: For wider distribution to bookstores and libraries.
- Draft2Digital: For distributing your eBook to multiple retailers.
- Why: Each platform has different distribution channels, royalty rates, and services. Choose one based on your goals and market reach.
13. Upload Your Manuscript and Cover
- What to do: Once you’ve formatted your manuscript and designed the cover, upload them to your chosen self-publishing platform.
- Why: This is where your book will be distributed to readers in the formats you’ve chosen (eBook, paperback, etc.).
14. Set Your Pricing and Royalties
- What to do: Choose a pricing strategy that matches your target audience and book length. Set royalty percentages depending on your chosen platform.
- Why: The right pricing affects sales. You’ll also want to choose competitive royalties.
Phase 5: Marketing and Promotion
15. Create a Marketing Plan
- What to do: Start by planning your book’s launch. Use email lists, social media, and your personal network to generate buzz before the release.
- Why: Marketing is crucial for reaching your audience and making sales. Without it, even the best books might not get noticed.
16. Build an Online Presence
- What to do: Create an author website and set up social media profiles. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn can help you connect with potential readers.
- Why: A strong online presence helps you engage with your audience, build a reader base, and promote future books.
17. Use Promotional Tools
- What to do: Use promotional tools provided by platforms like KDP (e.g., Kindle Unlimited, free days, or countdown deals) to increase visibility.
- Why: Promotions can boost your book's ranking and sales, especially during the launch phase.
18. Reach Out to Book Bloggers and Reviewers
- What to do: Send copies of your book to book bloggers, reviewers, and influencers in your genre. Ask them to review your book and share it with their audience.
- Why: Reviews and endorsements help build credibility and attract new readers.
Phase 6: Post-Publishing Maintenance
19. Monitor Your Sales and Marketing Efforts
- What to do: Use the analytics provided by self-publishing platforms to track your sales, reviews, and reader engagement.
- Why: Monitoring sales will help you understand what marketing efforts are working and where you might need to adjust your strategy.
20. Update and Improve
- What to do: Based on feedback and sales performance, update your marketing strategies, book description, or even parts of the content if necessary.
- Why: Keeping your book’s presentation and marketing fresh can boost sales over time.
Conclusion:
Writing and publishing a book is a multifaceted journey. It involves planning, dedication, and careful execution, but with the right approach, it can be incredibly rewarding. Whether you opt for traditional publishing or self-publishing, following these steps will help ensure your book reaches the right audience and achieves its full potential.

Top 5 inappropriate places/situations Pen & Colin have sex because they just can’t keep it in their breeches.
You know. I blame you for being this unhinged.
****
Bridgerton House (Colin's old bedroom)
It's Gregory or Hyacinth's or someone's engagement party. And for the first time in ages, for nostalgic reasons, Colin ends up back in his old room. And Penelope follows him. And they have a chat that, for as long as she had known the family, she had never actually been in his room. And he ends up admitting about how he used to dream about her. And she wants to know what kind of dreams. And asks him to describe them to her. And she'll ask him if he used to touch himself thinking about her, because you know, they've been married for ten years now and she's bold like that. And then they get into what if they had figured their shit out at a younger age and end up fucking on the bed pretending to be virgins again.
****
Featherington House (Drawing Room)
Everyone else is preoccupied else where for the time being. Idk, maybe Phillipa is giving birth to her fourth child and Dankworth and Finch are babysitting outside, idk. Or... maybe this is at night and everyone is asleep? Anyway, she's sitting where she always used to sit, starring out the window, and Colin comes into the room and finds her just breathtaking. And Penelope admits she used to think about him just coming in and rescuing her from this house. She'd watch from the window, and watch him, and dream. And of course, those are the magic words because then they're making out on the couch, and Colin's doing all sorts of things with his hands. And they're not even afraid of someone finding them, but Colin insists they try to stay quiet so not to wake anyone else up. And Pen, again because she is bold, says he'll have to find ways to keep her mouth busy. And he does. And they fuck on the couch still mostly clothed. The next morning they're in giggles when Prudence drapes herself over the place they came the previous night.
****
The Library
The first public library in London opened in 1841. Yes, I looked it up. Yes, Pen and Colin would be in, like, their fifties. Yes, they fucked in it because books.
****
Somewhere in India (Anthony and Kate's House)
Pen and Colin travel a lot (and why yes, they try to make it a point to fuck in every new country they're in) but this time they're spending time at the Bridgerton-Sharma residence (as Anthony spends half his time in India now). And Colin decides to fuck Pen very loudly in the guest room because the previous night, Anthony and Kate were being obnoxiously loud themselves, and Colin can be competitive and he'll sure as hell prove he can make his wife scream louder.
****
A Carriage. Anywhere.
It's Pen's idea. Because we've already established she's bold like this. They're rich and have time and why not? And it starts out because Pen just has a thing for that pirate coat. And Colin let's slip one day that he has a thing for her LW hood. So Pen gets the idea that they should play pretend, and pretend to be strangers and he'll be in his old coat, and she'll have on her hood, and they'll be playful at whatever random event they're at and they'll end up in a carriage then fucking happens. All the fucking. In the carriage. All around London because they paid the driver to be discreet. And they don't even care who can hear them. Or if some passerby catches a glimpse. They don't care because they're too wrapped up in each other and being in love with each other to care at all. They do it to feel connection and love and safety and it's a little bit thrilling in a moving vehicle that's technically out in public in a society that would be so, so scandalized, but they don't fucking care. Because they have each other. And that's all that matters.
#bridgerton#polin#colin bridgerton#penelope featherington#penelope bridgerton#colin x penelope#polination#this is absolutely dirty RB#filthy filth#and i'm not even sorry#i should save it in case i ever want to turn it into a real fic#feel free to send me more asks like this rb#i'd like to enjoy my cake ;)

Your collection on Libby is amazing 😭 I wanted to read a few books for Lesbian Visibility Week but I'm in Delhi, India and I can't access anything
thank you!!! <3
It’s been so delightful to see all the love & support from folks internationally. we wish we could do QLL world-wide, but unfortunately we simply don’t have that kind of capacity at this time. hopefully you can at least use our recommendations as inspiration to track down some that you may have access to through your local systems!
outside of that, if we’re talking Lesbian Visibility Week, there’s always open access materials like Stone Butch Blues - available for free always to anyone anywhere with an internet connection to download from Leslie Feinberg’s website.
Some other great materials that are freely available include;
72 LGBTQ+ Studies books in the DOAB (Directory of Open Access Books)
16 Gender & Sexuality Studies books in the Open Textbook Library
Project Gutenberg: has many books that are in the public domain - you can find some older queer classics here like The Well of Loneliness

By India McTaggart and Tracey Kandohla
21 April 2024
The first statue of Queen Elizabeth II since her death has been unveiled to the approving barks of nearly 50 corgis.
The permanent memorial to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch – complete with her own immortalised dogs – has been hailed as a fitting tribute for the “mother of our nation.”
The eye-catching 7ft bronze statue went on display on what would have been the late monarch’s 98th birthday, with a group of her favourite dogs stealing the show.
It takes pride of place outside the library in the market town of Oakham, in Rutland, Britain’s smallest county.
It depicts a youthful Queen Elizabeth – who stood at just 5ft 4in – standing at 7ft in regal robes with three loyal corgi companions at her feet, one peeking out from the creases.
It serves as a permanent reminder of her 70-year reign and her enduring affection for the Pembroke Welsh breed.
Sculptor Hywel Pratley believes the memorial will become a hit not only with royal fans, but that it will attract social media users wanting a selfie beside the late monarch and her dogs.
Speaking before the unveiling in front of a 400-person crowd and with a host of local dignitaries attending, he said:
“The plinth is designed to be sat on and I can see the statue becoming popular with the Instagram generation, and why not?
It will make a perfect backdrop for pictures and people will be able to reach up and pat a dog or if small enough even sit in its back.”
Mr Pratley, 51, who is half Welsh and lives in Chelmsford, Essex, told how he chose to add the corgis for a “bit of fun and to tap into the late Queen’s humanity and address her friendliness.”
He explained he made the statue larger than life because a “life-size Queen Elizabeth is too small. She deserves more.”
The £125,000 statue was commissioned by Dr Sarah Furness, the Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland, following the Queen’s death in September 2022.
Addressing the crowds in the spring sunshine, she said:
“We are witnessing a piece of history today with the first statue of Queen Elizabeth to be commissioned since her death and who gave us 70 years of exemplary service.
Rutland may be a small county, but the response to this had been huge with contributions from local businesses and individuals of varying sizes.”
As she spoke, barks from 46 dogs from the Welsh Corgi League rang out, and she said, smiling: “You can hear them!”
She added: “The statue is for everyone.”
Before his cancer battle had been known and made public, King Charles III had been invited to unveil the statue.
It is not known if Palace officials had agreed to the request.
Instead, the honour fell to Alicia Kearns, the Tory MP for Rutland and Melton, before being blessed by Debbie Sellins, the Bishop of Peterborough.
One resident, Hilda Townsend, said: “It is just wonderful. We are the tiniest county, but the first to honour the late majesty in such a big way. It is a very fitting tribute.”
Her husband, John, added: “It is absolutely amazing and, as Rutlanders, makes us extremely proud.”
The unveiling of two of the three bronze corgis was given to two young children who had won a local school art competition.
In an emotional speech, Ms Kearns, 31, said:
“It is an incredible statue of our beloved Queen, who showed unwavering commitment.
We hope we can reflect on her legacy of compassion, strength and leadership. The statue was no mean feat and is for all of Rutland and all of our country, and to come together in joy. Rutland leads and others will follow.”
The MP revealed that the King would be visiting the statue.
Crowds of local residents mingled with visitors from further afield, some waving Union flags, with children sporting gold paper crowns on their heads.
She told spectators: “I am proud to play my very small part in helping to celebrate her reign,” pointing to the statue and saying: “She belongs to all of you.”
Following the unveiling, a lone bagpiper played a lament to the late Queen and the National Anthem was played, with crowds joining in.
Dozens of corgis, some wearing red, white and blue, then posed beside the new monument with their owners and officials before parading along the packed streets to Oakham Castle for a meet-and-greet session with the public.
Among the corgi owners was Katrina Emptage from Lincoln, with her two-year-old pet, Mable.
She said: “The statue is absolutely amazing and I’m delighted to be here to see it and be part of the corgi parade. It is very special.”
The late Queen held a life-long, deep affection for the breed after she fell in love with the dogs as a child.
She owned more than 30 over the years, many of which were direct descendants of the first, Susan, which was given to her as an 18th birthday present by her parents in 1944.
Speaking of his inspiration, Mr Pratley said:
“I very quickly thought that I would like to have a corgi nestling in her robes by her feet because what a great symbol it is, artistically, of her being mother of a nation.”

A few decades ago while I was visiting Coast City, I found an interesting partial poster in a head shop. It was advertising an archery exhibition by "the Green Arrows of the World" in Star City at the Civic Auditorium.
The painted illustration has a fellow in what looks to be the pre-beard Green Arrow costume, and several men in "ethnic" variations of that costume in various bow-drawing poses.
The bottom of the poster where presumably the date and time of this event would have been printed was missing. I purchased the poster at a very reasonable price, the owner of the shop disclaiming any knowledge of how he'd acquired it, though he was quite voluble on the Rolling Stones concert one I also picked up.
I've often wondered since if there was ever a Green Arrows of the World event since I've never heard of non-USAn GAs otherwise, or if it was someone's fun fantasy project they got printed. Any thoughts or insights?
THIS poster? (Side note, this poster was done by truly legendary pop artist Jack Kirby who was probably most famous for his work at Marvel Comics but he also did a ton of miscellaneous work related to real life superheroes too) This exhibition was done during the early days of GA's career as you can see by the age of Speedy (Now Arsenal/Red Arrow) in the artwork. In short it IS the genuine article and the Green Arrows of the World was not only real but is STILL an extant organization. It consists of...well what it says on the tin. Green Arrow-esque heroes from around the world. There's been a lot of ink used about the prominence of archery in the heroic tradition (The book "Brave and the Bowmen" by Andy Diggle comes most easily to mind) with GA being its most obvious standard bearer in the modern day. Its membership has been fairly steady since inception including: Green Arrow and Speedy, naturally (USA)
Ace Archer (Japan)
Phantom (France)
Bush Bowman (Kenya)
Arabian Archer (Saudi Arabia)
Britannia Bowman (UK)
Troubadour (Spain)
Shark Sharpshooter (Samoa) Verde Flecha (Mexico) Archer of the Alps (Switzerland)
Emerald Bowman (India)
and Alba Archer (Scotland)
Now even those of you reasonably familiar are scratching your heads at most of these names but I promise this comes directly from the minutes of their only recorded meeting stored at the Moira Queen Memorial Library at Star City U. It's just that most of these heroes were fairly low key. Archer heroes and the urban vigilante type that they're usually part of tend toward low prominence and quiet careers because they're usually limited to action in singular cities or even neighborhoods. Most of them either did their time as small time protectors and then retired or are still fighting the good fight on a smaller scale. The Green Arrows of the World is a collective resource and support organization, sort of like Batman Inc in miniature. No one is quite sure who runs the organization's modest budget but lines have been drawn between it and Star City billionaire Oliver Queen whose philanthropy and focus on community organization projects is well known. They check up on one another, support one another where they can. There's only ever been one in person meeting of the organization, which this poster is from the public facing portion of, a charity drive run through the Queen Foundation for support of the then recent Boxing Day Tsunami. They're not open to public donation and are a rather private organization but spreading the word like this is part of my job. If the poster you have is different I highly, HIGHLY encourage you to turn it in at the museum of your choice. You may be holding an artifact of a much forgotten organization of heroes who really deserve the spotlight.

Kamala Khan’s bookshelves
Kamala’s room in The Marvels is an absolute treasure trove of little details to zoom in on, and I’ve identified so many books on her shelves!
Shelf 1, top to bottom:
1. Landmark Experiments in Twentieth Century Physics by George L. Trigg
College-level book about experiments that helped us learn about x-rays, lasers, isotopes, superconductors, and all kinds of other things I don’t understand. Meant to be more practical than theoretical since it talks about the actual methodologies of these experiments. Could be for school, or for Kamala and Bruno to run their own tests of Kamala’s powers. The first of many books in the Khan house that come from Dover Publications.
2. Space Time Matter by Hermann Weyl
“An esoteric initiation into space time physics” -Amazon reviewer. I’m gonna be real, I don’t understand half the words in this book description, but apparently it’s famous for introducing gauge theory, which was later reborn as phase transformations in quantum theory. I can see this being something Kamala reads to try and understand the bangle transporting her to the Partition. Also from Dover.
3. A Map to the Sun by Sloane Leong
A graphic novel about a high school girl’s basketball team learning to work together despite their many differences and conflicts. Also it has a gorgeous color palette. Seems fairly self explanatory why it’s in this movie. I’ll definitely be borrowing this from my library! Like my friend Kamala recommended a book to me herself.
4. The Good Immigrant anthology edited by Nikesh Shukla
21 essays from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people in the UK about their experiences. It was crowdfunded initially, extremely critically acclaimed, and has gotten spinoffs and sequels. Riz Ahmed, who is British Pakistani, is one contributor, and a fun fact is that Rish Shah (Kamran from Ms. Marvel) worked with Riz Ahmed in an Oscar winning short called The Long Goodbye. Also, the editor, Nikesh Shukla, is currently writing the Spider-Man India comics series!
5. Bright Lines by Tanwi Nandini Islam
A coming-of-age story about 3 young adults with complicated family, friend, and romantic relationships between them. They have to travel from Brooklyn to Bangladesh together one summer and thereby discover a lot about themselves. I haven’t read it, but there seems to be a ton of complex representation of LGBTQ, POC, immigrant, and Muslim characters. I wonder how much the three main characters can be compared with our three characters with complex relationships in The Marvels, and I wonder which character Kamala most relates to!
6. I can’t tell! The font is bugging the hell out of me because theoretically, with that amount of contrast, I should be able to read a word when I get two inches from the TV and mess with the settings. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
7. I also can’t tell, but I’m being easier on myself because the title is written in white on a yellow background. It’s not the only book I know off the top of my head with this color scheme (Yellowface by RF Kuang) because the title is definitely multiple words. Help!
Shelf 2, right to left:
1. One Night that Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt
A YA romance where, through a convoluted series of events, a teenager must face all of her insecurities in one night. I can see Kamala devouring this as brain candy after wrestling with those advanced science books, or using it as fic inspiration!
2. Can’t tell, but love the color scheme!
This next one is a weird one, because I am 100% sure of what book it is, but I cannot find a picture of a matching edition.
3. Wizard at Large by Terry Brooks
It’s definitely, without a doubt, this book (where a character and a magical medallion are accidentally transported to Earth from another realm and switches places with an evil genie). Like those are the words on the spine and the plot of the book is an obvious choice for this movie. The fonts match on the audiobook, the ebook, and the next two books in the series. But try as I might, I cannot find any proof on the internet that the physical book that appears in Kamala’s room, that uses those two fonts and that spine formatting, exists. This is haunting me…
4. (On the other side of the box) It’s not The Twilight Saga Eclipse, but I definitely thought it was before I could watch in high definition. I think it’s a journal or sketchbook of Kamala’s; there are a bunch scattered throughout the room.
Shelf 3:
I’ve only identified the bottom book, which is Einstein’s Theory of Relativity by Max Born (Dover Publications). The third one up is HAUNTING me, it looks SO identifiable and yet!
Living Room Side Table:
1. Amateur Astronomer’s Handbook by JB Sidgwick (from Dover Publications)
2. Cosmology by Hermann Bondi (also Dover)
Both of these seem less difficult than the science books in Kamala’s room, but reviewers note that it helps to know calculus when reading Cosmology. Idk which member of the Khan family is reading these, but I love their family’s connection to the stars 💫
Tbh I’m having so much fun doing this! And I really wish we got to see Monica’s living space so I can analyze her books 😭

Attention Arsene Lupin fans!!
2023 Public Domain book found!
Published in 1927, this is literally the only copy I have found anywhere for this book in english that is in the public domain, or otherwise--
--Actually, on a quick check mid-sentence on Amazon , I have found 1 copy, newly translated into english and published June 2023................................ but the person used fucking ChatGPT to translate it . aka an AI Chatbot.
....Anyways. You can use the Archive.org link above to download the original 1927 english translation, which is in the public domain to read, just make sure you get the PDF version, not the epub or pdf text because it's pure, pure gibberish.
Once I'm done working on Le Docteur Omega I might take a crack at transcribing this book next so it can be properly posted to Project Gutenberg and other Public Domain sites.
Oh, and because someone asked, The Girl With The Green Eyes is book #15 according to the Wiki page

i hate all the hand wringing people (mostly from the global north) do about piracy. i live in sri lanka and have lived here most my life, and pirating things is very, very normal here. like my friends and i would ask each other for entire tv series or movies downloaded on to usb drives and share them around the whole friend group lol, especially because only one or two of us could download/stream things like that over the internet. now that i'm studying in university, it's very common for lecturers to give us pdfs of textbooks without us having to even go look for them; it's pretty widely understood that this is what we're supposed to do about required textbooks and research papers and such anyways. i honestly haven't touched a physical book in ages because i can usually never find the books i want (of the lesbian necromancy variety) in libraries, and even if i can find them in book shops, i can't afford them.
compared to this, my few years in aotearoa couldn't have been more different. even school libraries there are so much more well stocked than public council libraries here. and universities give you access to entire databases! like, anything and everything you want or need to access is right there o_o (i wanted to download a bunch of things from those databases when i was moving back, but sadly i couldn't: which might have been for the best) and books you cannot find at your local library, you could request to be brought there from another library within the region. like- what? books were still too expensive, but we had second-hand bookstores! (those were probably my favourite <3) i also remember a librarian at my school talking about how piracy is theft and how bad it is, which made me feel so guilty lmao. but also, please come and see how little access we have to anything here and then maybe you'll understand why.
yeah! i had the exact same experience in india down to my professors uploading dubiously acquired free pdfs onto the university portal.
