Glasses? ew so ugly!

It's the 21st century and we are living in a world where nearly 2.2 billion people face near or distant vision problems[report by WHO]. And I am one of them. According to The Vision Council, 63.7% of adult Americans wear prescription eyeglasses. That's 166.5 million people! But every now and then I come across videos/content as such where some influencers put pictures as such in the thumbnails of their videos implying that Glasses made them look ugly. And most of the time the alternative they use is contact lenses. But is it necessary? Are the views worth making people insecure and socially anxious? [asking politely]
