May 2024 - With Eurovision coming up, and the fascist state of Israel being allowed to pinkwash their genocide of the Palestinian people once again, let's remember Icelandic anti-capitalist band Hatari who showed their support for Palestine in 2019 when Eurovision was being held in Tel Aviv, and were fined for it (€5000,- lmao). Later that same month they brought out the pro-Palestinian song Klefi / Samed (صامد) together with Palestinian artist Bashar Murad.
youtube
anyway, the BDS movement is calling for a boycott of Eurovision 2024!

Whenever gay Americans get angry abt what our government is doing to Palestinians (and why), there's always someone who loves to be like "Who's gonna tell these dummies homosexuality is illegal in Gaza?"
That's so crazy.
I'm a gay Texan in my mid 20s. When I was a little kid, homosexuality was illegal. Here in Texas, where I lived and where I still happily live.
So (TW "war" crimes) I guess it would've been fair enough if the U.S. and Israel had bombed me and my family and neighbors, our houses and jobsites and whole communities, the girls I played with down the street, my baby brothers, my grandparents at work, the trans Texans who used to meet up downtown in the city, everybody else etc. If they had deliberately driven us from our homes and forced us to live in terror every night and every day, maiming our children, burning our parents alive, attacking&cutting off our food and water, blocking our aid, methodically starving us out and telling us straight up that we needed to be scrubbed off the face of the earth so they could take everything we have and not worry about keeping it.
I mean, damn I guess we would've had it coming. Homosexuality wasn't even legal, right? Sounds like a Texas problem. What do I care what the gov spends all those $$,$$$,$$$,$$$ and lives doing?
*Just to be clear, gay sex between men was a crime here until 2003 (when I was definitely kicking around, painting my nails with markers and eating bugs).
If I wanted to see penalties that were exactly the same as (or often harsher than) what's been left on the books in Gaza (and maybe sometimes ? enforced), I just have to go back one generation to my parents' lifetime, when men were getting 10 years in prison and, unlike in Palestine, police were setting up sting operations to actively crack down on the gay problem (again, smth that doesn't even happen in Gaza).
This is not, like, a weird feature of some "foreign" culture to me, and it really shouldn't be for any American who isn't super young or who knows her history. That doesn't make it right (at all), but you can't believe the lie that "these people aren't like you". Pretending this has any relevance on the genocide other than to say that queer Palestinians are even more greatly impacted by it is crazy and disgusting.
-- This really doesn't need to be added, but if we're supposed to play this stupid game, Palestinians in the West Bank took their anti-gay laws off the books in the early 1950s, at the same time basically all U.S. state governments were creating new laws specifically targeting gay (and trans) ppl and categorizing gay sex as a felony with harsh prison sentences. Now should our American grandparents/parents have been starved and scrubbed off the earth?? I would say... No!
The laws in Gaza are definitely not good for gay and trans Gazans -- stigma is very real, and gay rights aren't explicitly protected under the freedoms and human rights guaranteed by the Palestinian constitution. This is wrong, but obv genocide makes it a million times worse and is indescribably more horrible for all Palestinians, queer and straight.
And I don't get how anybody living in the "anglo-sphere" can pretend like this is some distant culture we're talking about -- these laws were imposed by the British Empire on occupied Palestine in the 1930s and then left on the books. Incredibly, Palestinians are normal people, and I think there's a good reason so many lgbt's see right through this bullshit.
We understand that the same politicians who weaponize "family values" can condemn families to death to line their own pockets.
We've heard "save the children" from people happy to condemn children to the horrors of genocide.
And when bought-out politicians defend our gay rights, they still don't hesitate to drop bombs on our mangled gay bodies.

the obligation you feel not to offend is fascist. it takes understanding and discernment to offend the status quo in a way that also resonates with the pain that they are feeling.
they hide it due to shame that the very seed of fascism caused when it was placed within this world.
this is also to say, one can offend the status quo in right ways and wrong ways. you could, theoretically, offend the status quo by being racist. but, you would be alienating a chunk of your population.
what we’re doing here is trying to find the lowest common denominator. because, one does exist.
but that LCD is hard to articulate because our system of logic is quite literally based around pitting us against one another.
you have to start by peeling back a whole lot of layers.

New work by Shepard Fairey (Creator of the Obama:Hope art work)
Tumblr media
I honestly like the Obama:Hope poster more than the Harris:Forward poster as an art piece, but I think Shepard Fairey's style with a candidate and a single word is quite catchy and follows the ideas that Kamala Harris is looking to get into.
Between her Scandinavia-adjacent econ policies, to protections for LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, etc, it is clear that Forward is a great word for her proposed ideas.
Her and Walz's new slogan "We Are Not Going Back" is also indicative of this new Forward poster.
Also I like the Obama:Hope style poster more (in my opinion, this Kamala poster looks more flat compared to the Obama poster), I like how her hair, jewelry, and lipstick is highlighted here. Shepard Fairey clearly understands how important a first woman President for the US will be and clearly wants to emphasize her more feminine features.
And although I'm not a fan of the flatness of the piece, it also emphasizes how young she is compared to Trump. I think this is interesting to emphasize due to Walz's persona as a "Midwestern Dad" and Harris as a young candidate (represents a younger demographic). When you see this poster next to a photo of Trump, the difference is CRAZY.
The word Forward takes front and center and creates a SHARP contrast when put next to Project 2025. Kamala Harris is also notably the most Pro-Palestine/Least Zionist Presidential Candidate (Out of Reps and Dems since the creation of Israel) America has EVER HAD. This only adds to the weight of this piece's message: Forward.
Overall, it serves its purpose even if it isn't my favorite piece Shepard Fairey has made. It's nice, I suppose. I think I would have liked more red, but the white and blue really separates the Harris:Forward and Obama:Hope posters as aesthetically separate. I also like Kamala's smile in the poster more than Obama's stoic appearance in the Obama:Hope poster.

So far I’ve read only a few chapters, but with the help of other tumblr posts and a little research of my own, I found just enough material to make a distinct comparison with Killua.
I know there’s more similarities & connections in general with Patalliro! and HXH. I might possibly make a part 2 of this post after I finish the manga.
I know some people only ship killugon for fun but I’ve been genuinely convinced for a while now. The math IS adding up. It’s always adding up and makes perfect sense each time.
The question is no longer
“ Is Killua gay? “
but
“ How much gayer can Killua get? “
Edit : before this gets taken out of context :
togashi has NOT said anything or confirmed this! This is only an observation and strong assumption! A theory if you will. Nothing in this post is spreading false information so please chill out Twitter 😭

Is he transmasc?
disclaimer: this is a hc, not speculating on what the writers intentions were.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
reasons under the cut!
He can turn into a tiger, tiger in japanese is tora and trans in japanese is said toransu. Get it? Tora-nsu
Plus he likes reading and i like reading and im transmasc so I'll make him transmasc - Atsushi is a were-tiger, and tigers are considered a symbol of the trans community in Japan because the prefix of the word "transgender" (toransu, or トランス) is pronounced the same as the word for tiger (Tora, or 虎) (source)
He was kicked out of the orphanage he lived at for his uncontrolled were-tiger abilities, which could be seen as analogous to a queer person being kicked out for reasons beyond their control
Also, I'm transmasc and I like him

Togashi's "interview" with Jump Ryu magazine & DVD 2016
i found this information and translation from the hxh fandom site - https://hunterxhunter.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:MrGenial11/Jump_Ryu_Vol.21:_Yoshihiro_Togashi
it’s long so i’m rephrasing and only sharing the Hunter x Hunter stuff & some Togashi facts i found interesting (and y’all too probably) so :
When Togashi was in junior high school, he was fully attracted to Shōjo manga (girls manga) such as Mineo Maya's manga. (Mineo Maya is known for creating LGBT ((shōnen-ai/gay)) manga)
Togashi read manga like "Urusei Yatsura" and learned how to attract female audience.
Although Togashi’s favorite manga genre is Shōnen, he thinks he's suitable for Shōjo manga.
Togashi's first manga serialization was a romantic comedy, Ten de Shōwaru Cupid. Afterwards, he began Yu Yu Hakusho. After YYH, Togashi wanted to create manga that WOULDN'T be popular to show various aspects of his personality as mangaka to his audience. He then created Level E.
After Level E, Togashi began Hunter x Hunter. He changes his style in each arc so his audience can be surprised. Togashi loves surprising his audience.
Togashi thinks characters are sometimes more important than the story itself.
The Chimera Ant arc ended differently than Togashi first expected.
He creates simulations of the characters and how they will talk with each other and take an action in situations. This allows his audience to feel as if his characters really exist.
Togashi drew his characters acting unexpectedly in desperate situations when they encountered someone accidentally. For example, the encounter between Morel and Shaiapouf, or Killua and Meleoron.
Togashi has been attracted to the dirty side of manga rather than beautiful side ever since he was a junior high school student. (whatever that means..)
Togashi drew Yu Yu Hakusho's art style impressively and Level E realistically. In Hunter x Hunter, he avoids using screentones as much as possible.
Togashi considers the manuscripts of Hisoka and Kastro's fight as "bad quality" . He said that the internet fandom was angry and embarrassed with the chapter at that time. (so he DOES look at fanforums. that's no good)
"Togashi-sensei is very gentle. He remembers what editors said in the past" (a quote from one of his editors)
"Togashi resembles Gon/Ging Freecss in terms of personality" (another quote from his editor) (the hunterpedia page said “Gin” so idk if the translator misspelled “Gon” or forgot the last “g” in “Ging” 😺 i see both tbh)
Togashi scolded an editor only once when they slightly changed a few words in the manga without permission.
Togashi is very confident in his words being interesting. He chooses his words and sticks with them, not letting anyone change them. He is very selective and peculiar about the words he uses. (hm this makes me think of the lines “ja nakya dame nan da”/“shika inai” , “dajina”/“kichō” , “shinjū” , ect.)(dw i’m making a post explaining those lines later)
Togashi's message to mangaka beginners: "Keep in mind the audience. Make every effort to go beyond their expectations.”
