This has been something I've been working on for quite a while now, as some people who look at my insta story might know, but I'm finally done!! those text messages from s14ep5 are so unhinged, they haunt me every goddamn day. To drop "i love you so much" just to follow it with what essentially is a "no homo.. for u... even tho u r so hot and i like you so much!". exploading them with my mind into a million pieces, okay?

I designed posters and some merch/related items for a fake museum exhibit at the Academy of Natural Sciences! I also redesigned the logo for extra credit (and think it’s much cooler than the original).

The museum used to have a butterfly exhibit, so I felt that focusing on them again for a new exhibit would be okay despite the major focus being on dinosaurs. There’s a lovely stained glass mural piece in the museum that inspired the idea of Stained Glass Butterflies.

I settled on designing tickets, gift shop bags, cafe cups, and a tote bag based around this exhibit. I might add a few more ideas to the line, depending on the time and motivation I have. I’m definitely printing off some sticker sheets of the butterflies I made, but I also might paint some of the designs on a shirt if I can find a good piece while thrifting.

I entered this project into LOCALLY SOURCED, a competition in Philadelphia and the surrounding states! I won’t know till between October 18th and November 17th if I made it in. It’d be cool to see my work in a magazine with other incredibly talented college designers.

I like to hang onto an idea that Dennis Reynolds is unlabeled. His queerness is something he knows and has known but never explicitly said out loud. (Hence the shushing) I like that this contrasts with Mac’s need to label everything about himself, and he shares those parts of himself so easily. Dennis’s queerness isn’t about Mac, it’s not about anyone but himself, personally I hope they never give his sexuality a label. Dennis Reynolds is queer, and that’s enough.

There seems to be a sense of insecurity from being unlabeled, in my experience, other people often try to give a label to what they think you’re feeling. I’ve felt for a long time that I just experience being queer differently than most people I know. So when I see a character like this, I feel like they just understand. Even if they wouldn’t, he is experiencing this differently than Mac, and that has to be hard. Looking at someone you’ve spent most of your life with at this point and seeing him feel this way that you wish you felt, not because it’s easy, it’s not, but because he can find a word or a label that fits just right. He can describe that part of himself easier than you’ll ever be able to.

(I love hearing different headcanons for him though this is just me projecting)
