Gonta’s family was really strict as he was growing up. They made sure that he would always know his worth in the world because of his family, whether he wanted to or not.

He wasn’t exactly a rebel, per se, but Gonta knew there was more to life than just his background. So he started his own quest: to become a true gentleman, with or without his name attached to him.

Where most of his family was picky about who they spent time with, Gonta was kind to everyone he met until they proved that they did not earn kindness from anyone.

His background did help him get places in life, but he also wanted to put in some effort himself. Being recognized as the Ultimate Affluent Progeny was…kind of uncomfortable because of that.

His classmates were genuinely surprised at how different he was from their perceptions just based on his talent and his family name. But Gonta blew all of their expectations out of the water.

I just finished the audio book of Our Hideous Progeny and it’s just as delightful of a story as it was when I first read it last year. I absolutely adore Mary as a character! Women can and should be little beasties. My gay little heart must know though, does Mary ever kiss Maisie and get a chance heal that part of her from when she had kissed Catharine as children and thought she was broken and wrong?

PS: I think about “perhaps, perhaps, perhaps!” A lot and it makes me smile

I hemmed and hawed for ages over whether to have Mary and Maisie actually kiss in that final scene; but no matter which way I looked at it, I simply didn’t feel they were ready yet. Mary, as you mentioned, is still very much wounded from her experience with Catherine, and I really couldn’t see her making the first move (or doing it so soon, at least) – and Maisie, I think, is still labouring under a huge amount of compulsory heterosexuality. They’ll figure it out eventually, but in my mind what follows canon is a 120k slowburn hurt/comfort romantic comedy of errors, in which Mary pines halfway across Europe and Maisie realizes that it is not, actually, a truth universally acknowledged that women are prettier than men and everyone wants to kiss their best friends with tongue, culminating in the two of them confessing their true feelings to each other on a candlelit balcony above the streets of Paris, returning home to live with Mr & Mrs Jamsetjee, and adopting a very small dog named Creature.

13: what’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

god this is a boring answer but. "show, don't tell." it's like the one thing i actually consciously think about when i write (well, more so when i edit tbf but same dif). in the past 3-4 years i've gotten really good at learning to be concise in my writing and i do think this my being comfortable with conveying emotions and such through small actions without a need to justify my choice in the writing is what's led to that!

16: how many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? share one of them?

oh god LOL so many. the big au ideas in my brain right now are the starter mew au and the orre au. i think i recently shared a bit about the orre au (though i'd be so happy to share more if anyone asked me about it!), so i'll share a bit about the starter mew au instead!

basically way back in december @jaystrifes sent me this ask, which festered in my brain and has grown into a whole jn rewrite (that currently remains just plotted...but one day i'll have the time to write it. i hope dhjfghjd). it doesn't go exactly as i said in the ask - i've had time to sit with the idea since then and some of my thoughts have changed a bit - but the basic premise is still the same. this idea of like...mew feeding off of goh's twisted sense of self. what to him is evidence of his capability is to mew a fun little game, and it's making all the rules. i've spent all the time i've been plotting it working out like...ok, so what is the goal of project mew? how does goh fit into it? how does gary fit into it? and the other side of like - ok, so what's the connection between the mewtwo we see in the genesect movie and giovanni's mewtwo? what does that imply about team rocket's research on mew and their attempts at cloning it? goh and ash also met mewtwo in jn - and it didn't wipe their memories or anything, which suggests it respected them enough not to, even after goh insulted it by insinuating battling it was only worth it to get data on mew. there's just a lot of potential with mewtwo and mew that's not really fully explored in jn, so i wanted to dig into that a bit - at the same time as diving into this version of goh who is even more isolated than in canon and who's not just a victim of parental neglect but also of this psychological dependency on mew. his relationship with ash in particular has been fun to analyze. in my mock-up ao3 draft i said that "ash has aura powers and contrarily goh is more of a self-proclaimed empath" so that's...pretty much their dynamic in a nutshell LMAO.

anyway! i titled the au progeny and do have a tag for it, so i'm sure i'll start throwing more things in there once i actually start writing the thing lol

Back from playing some Chapter 2 of THH and my gooooosh. I'm trying so hard to take Byakuya seriously and I have at some moments. At the same time though, it's so haaaard! He's so dweeby looking and I know the narrative is trying to make me be intrigued and like "OOooOOO look at this mysterious guy being all mysterious and sinister." But, I just can't! At least not now. Feel I might feel something else once I actually get to the trial (even though I know exactly what's going to happen). For now though, he's just too stupid looking for me to be intimidated in any way. It doesn't help that any messed up stuff he's said so far isn't like, bad?? Sure, making Chihiro cry isn't exactly something one should be proud of him for. How dare he make Chihiro cry! Shame on him! At the same time though, it's more of just like "We be in a killing game" and "Friendship isn't magic, gang". In some ways, he does have a point despite how awful it sounds too. Additionally, sometimes I feel he could just be a lot meaner and he's oddly tame despite this being the doomsday chapter for any Byakuya fan. Maybe it's because with all the fan works I've seen where he's honestly way worse than in canon, anything he says that might've been remotely extreme just feels null to me. Also, again, most stuff is more or less just him affirming the situation their in, how much he's not planning on being buddy-buddy with everyone, and how he sees himself as superior. It also doesn't help with how dramatic the music is (which I am so down for ngl. I'd head bang if I could) which is signaling how "super awful" he's being. Though it just seems a bit too much when he's not being horrendously despicable. And, don't get me wrong! I'm not happy with him! Just shaking my head as he drags Makoto along while being all annoying whenever I click something that isn't the thing he wants me to look at. Like, don't yap at me when I'm looking around in the library that YOU dragged me to, Mister! Half of the extension cord is CLEARLY missing!! And, damn. He just seems like some whiny petulant brat bossing Makoto around honestly. So goofily though cus I know what happens in the chapter and I know what he knows and the way he's pulling Makoto along like he's so proud of his handiwork. He's such a nerd. Such a dweeb. Like, that scene when the group are worried about where the hell he is when he was just chilling in the library. For one, man sounded so damn calm talking to Makoto. Not even a hint of being pissed or anything at the beginning. Just kinda matter-of-fact with a slight bit of sass. But also, once he really started being shitty like, it just felt so DUMB! Like how everyone around him was like "Damn. He's smiling so creepy" but, for one, how am I do judge something I'm not allowed to see? Not like they gave him a CG of that said sinister smile. Also, every time I attempt to visualize it it just gets worse. Cus I KNOW he can be cool to me and kinda bad ass and even a bit sinister too! I know he's capable of it! But it's just not clicking with this dialogue for me. Every attempt my brain makes to think of him with a sinister smile just makes me laugh from how dumb and uncool he looks even though he probably thinks he's hot shit while being all pompous like that. Another thing I want to mention, and I have no way to segue into this, but when Byakuya said he was "having fun" with the killing game DAMN IT! It so goofy of him to say he's having fun while his sprite screams constipated energy. And, to top it all off, he's not going to get any better in the sense of "Byakuya being so cool and calculating" once Chapter 2 ends. And, in a way, I like that. If only Mondo and Aoi were allowed by the narrative to beat him up more. Such a shame u_u

Only a few minutes later, Harry was asleep. She smiled to herself and wrapped her arms around him, her hands resting on his chest as it rose and fell with every breath. 

"Did I doze off?" Harry said ten minutes later, shifting his position slightly. 

"Not very long," Ginny replied. She rubbed his chest softly in comfort. 

"You just put me right to sleep with that," Harry said, sounding impressed. 

"Nice, huh?” she said, trying to read his expression. She enjoyed being able to make him relax under her touch so easily.

Just wanna say that I love your Wyrm headcanons. I feel like not many people explore the idea that the pale king is basically an alien compared to normal bugs.

I look forward to his interactions with the other bugs, specifically Herrah and Hornet, in the future.

I love the idea of the Pale King being more like an alien, god, eldritch horror kind of being. He is a so vastly different to mortal bugs that it would like comparing a blue whale to an mouse. Biologically, mentally, and behaviorally. Nothing is the same. Which means that miscommunication and misunderstandings are the norm. What he would consider to be polite, they could interpret as a upset or even homicidal. What he thinks is a perfect mirroring of mortals bugs, is seen as dead center of the uncanny valley levels of creepy, and down right horrifying when he still moves and acts like a wrym.

It was so bad, that in the beginning, he was not a good god. Not out of malice, he just didn’t know. For example:

The concept that mortals, beings a fraction of a fraction of his size, needed to eat multiple times in a day was just baffling to him. Famine and starvation was common until he understood that.

Normal wrym vocalizations that he did absentmindedly were terrifying to mortals. Many thinking it meant he was angry. Leading to some nasty ‘rituals’ the mortals come up with the try and appease the not actually angry god.

Even after he cast off his shell to better study the mortals without disrupting them, the problems were still present. Sure, the god king is now mortal size, but why doesn’t he emote? Gesture? Breath!?

But thanks to a select few mortals who were willing to speak up, he learned over the cycles how to be a better god king and less creepy. In fact, he goes out of his way to have as many of these individuals around him as he can. People who aren’t afraid to tell him he’s doing something wrong.

I want to make a post at some point with a more extensive list of some of the advice these Kings’ Keepers have given him over the cycles. From the ones at the start of it all telling him how to not kill his people, to the later ones explaining the concept of art.

And while he can always change his behaviors, he can’t change his physiology. Even gods are subject to the laws of biology. So he will always be as alien as the day he cast off his shell. He just got better at masking it.

And I’m so glad to hear you like the concept. As you said, its one that isn’t explored often. A god trying to act mortal, it’s a fun idea. And I am greatly looking forward to the reveal of the Pale King with his bindings off and full feral mode on.

Makoto worked on a lot of cases, but out of the three of them, he had the most healthy schedule when it came to work. He knew what his limits were and didn’t overwork himself the same way his partners did.

Byakuya’s luck didn’t have a huge effect on their relationship, which was something he was silently worried over for a while. Even then, it likely would’ve been minor, but better safe than sorry.

Kyoko was the most studious of them thanks to her talent and upbringing, and she tended to think poorly of herself if she struggled with a concept. It was still hard for her to ask for help, but she’d started studying with her partners, and that helps.

Quality time and acts of service are their two biggest love languages, so it’s common to see them just sitting in the same room together or doing little favors for each other throughout the day.

It’s also common for them to fall asleep on top of each other after a long day in strange places. Never wake one of them up unless you want the other two glaring at you for the next week.

I am desperate for you to know this was the best book I've ever read. It was such a real and honest experience of being a woman, Mary was so genuine and interesting, she never felt forced. It felt so well researched and intriguing. I kept having to put the book down to scream and growl and pant before I could bare to pick it back up. I was so invested. I couldn't look the book in the eye. I haven't cried like that in ages. I will probably never stop thinking about Mary and Maisie holding hands. You tore open my body, took out all my guts and bones one by one to expose my core before putting me back together and stitching me up. Nonbinary slay.

Project Progeny is a pet fic of mine. Don’t ask me how I got this idea, I just had it.

It’s a Kalluzeb ABO fic with OmegaKallus where Kallus learns that he is pregnant from Zeb. A chance comment from his best friend, the medic Tali, leads to him realizing that he participated in a project called ‘Project Progeny’ where Imperials were matched with each other and encouraged to procreate. After the child is born, the parent’s minds are wiped if their emotional bond to the children is too strong.

Kallus was the Omegan participant three times and had his mind wiped each time after he’d given birth. Cassian actually finds a holo-vid of the first birth Kallus went through and through that, they get a hint about the child’s father’s identity.

I have written three chapters so far and am currently halfway through chapter 4.

Funnily enough, I’ve never been harassed about writing a fic before, but for this one I get comments on my other fics asking for updates. I honestly can’t tell if I should be flattered or enraged or both. But I kinda see it as a good sign that the premise is intriguing.
