Do you like this metal song?
A gimmick blog inspired by @doyoulikethissong-poll, @doyoulikethis-videogame-song, @doyoulikethis-vocaloid-song and those alike.
Not familiar?
This blog will regularly post snippets of songs without any identifying information. Attached to the song will be a poll on which you can vote whether you like or dislike the song. Once the poll has concluded, the song will be revealed.
Tagging System
#activepolls : polls that are currently running
#closed : polls that have concluded
#results : results and song reveals
#notapoll : anything else
#suggestions : songs posted from suggestions
Genre tags are added to the best of my knowledge. If you know better, feel free to add a reply and I'll adjust accordingly.
Suggestions
You can suggestion any metal song but I'd appreciate if you roughly followed this format:
[artist] - [songname] [version, if applicable], [section, which you find most memorable, should be around 30-40sec]
Multiple songs per ask are allowed. I only know so many songs and to be honest, my taste is kind of limited. So this blog really lives off of suggestions.
Vote options
If you're not sure how to vote, this is a rough rule set you can go by:
Song title/Artist/Album comes to mind -> I have heard it before
Sound familiar, but can't pinpoint it - Never heard it before -> I haven't heard it before
Will go on my playlist once revealed/Already on my playlist-> I like it
Indifferent - Dislike it -> I don't like it
For more reasoning, read this ask.

I'm serious, I can't even convey in words to someone who isn't already a fan of The Dear Hunter just how fucking amazing this song is, like just look at this:
This list from the TDH subreddit, which isn't even technically complete, attempts to outline every reprisal throughout all five albums, just open it up and see how many different songs have a reprisal in The March.
That isn't even to mention the fact that throughout all five of the Acts there are lyrics foreshadowing this very climax and tragic end that the song (and Act V as a whole) represents, which is completely transformative to the experience on repeat listens.
If you have a few hours, seriously listen through Acts I-V front to back and really pay attention to the composition and lyrics, then when The March comes on, just experience the complete musical catharsis and chills that I get every time I hear it without fail. It's worth it.

Decameron - Sexual Immortality
This is one of those bands that is in between melodic black and melodic death metal. There is also a lot of prog metal stuff going on, especially if you listen to the album as a whole. Great stuff and yes I posted this one specifically for the song title.

They’re relaxing on the tour bus, an hour out from that night’s venue, when their normally meek photographer and merch guy squawks and shoots to his feet.
“HOLY SHIT,” Colin shouts. “Harry, Harry, you have to see this.”
“Colin, you know I don’t like reading what people say about me–”
“No, you really want to see this,” he insists, pressing his phone into Harry’s hands.
Harry watches a few seconds of the video – he hadn’t even known Colin recorded that – before Colin reaches over and scrolls down a bit.
And then he sees it.
He flings the phone away from him with a yelp.
“Shit, sorry Colin,” he says, scrambling to pick the phone up and check it for cracks. It’s fine, and the screen is still lit up, showing that Tom Riddle, who tends to go by his stage name of Lord Voldemort these days, has apparently watched and commented on Harry’s half-arsed cover of one of his songs.
Harry makes a strangled noise and hands the phone back to Colin before he actually breaks it.
This is fine.
Colin’s flailing and Harry’s totally-not-hyperventilating draw the attention of the rest of the band, and Colin shows them the post, keeping hold of his phone this time. Ginny’s eyes grow wide and she whoops loudly, smiling and coming over to shake him gently.
“Harry, senpai noticed you!” she teases, laughing at him.
“Ginnyyyyyyy,” he groans. “Why did he have to see that video…”
“Oi, it’s not that bad,” she cajoles. “He wouldn’t’ve commented if he thought it was terrible.”
“You are the worst at cheering people up,” he deadpans.
“Hmm~ I wonder if he watched the interview, too,” Luna says mellifluously.
That stops both Ginny and Harry flat. “What.”
“You both said such lovely things about his music bringing you together,” she adds.
It takes a second to figure out which interview Luna’s talking about, and then the horror dawns.
“NOOO,” Ginny wails.
“Why did we talk about that??”
“Uh, guys, it’s not that big of a deal,” Neville says hesitantly.
“We need to destroy the internet, it’s the only way,” Ginny says.
“I’m running away to the woods to become a hermit,” Harry moans, flopping into a nearby chair.
“It’s not like you two are subtle about being Riddle’s fans,” Neville adds. “Like, three of our songs have references to him or his music.”
Ginny stares into space. “Oh my god, you're right.”
“We’re such nerds,” Harry says, head in his hands. “Really blatant fan-nerds.”
“The first step is admitting you have a problem,” Luna says absently.
(the rest of this thing)

TECHNICAL.
DEATH.
Piano!
This is a brand new release for a new album i’m working on, which replaces the usual guitar-focused metal style with a distorted piano!!!
I worked very hard to make it as heavy and technical as possible while still balanced, hopefully I succeeded

Ask game: 🎤🎵🎧
Tell me about your music taste!!!
🎤 have you been to a concert
I have been to many concerts over the years, mostly metal. The most recent ones were HEALTH, Dethklok, Trivium, The Hu. I used to go to a lot of folk metal concerts but I’m kinda soured on the genre because of you know, neo nazis and such.
🎵 favorite artists
My taste in metal tends to vary over the years, to the point where I don’t really have a favorite atm. The one constant that I always love is My Chemical Romance 🖤
🎧 last song you listened too
Oak and Aspen by Gallowbraid, perfect music for when you’re in the mountain forests
