This blog will regularly post snippets of songs without any identifying information. Attached to the song will be a poll on which you can vote whether you like or dislike the song. Once the poll has concluded, the song will be revealed.

For submissions, what's the limit on what is and isn't considered metal? Is nu metal metal? Metalcore? Hard rock? Is it on a case-by-case basis for the more borderline bands/subgenres? (eg, slipknot would be metal but linkin park wouldn't be even though both are labelled nu metal. Suicide season era bmth would be allowed but that's the spirit era wouldn't be)

Well, it has to be metal. So no, no hardcore. Nu Metal is more case by case, or rather album-specific. This is really asking for an argument, but if I can hear the metal in the song, I'll post it. If you care, I'm easy to convince with a metal-archives link.

Only problem with this blog is I'm so unpicky about my metal subgenres and so bad at recognising songs from a 30 second clip that my answer to 99% of these is "I like it, I haven't heard it before" lmao. Should be a lot of fun when the reveals start coming through, whether it's from seeing what songs I do in fact know or finding new stuff to put in my playlist

yeah, it's kind of an issue that people, who don't regularly listen to metal, but have a general interest in it, don't have a concept for what metal they "like", so they click "I like it" when they really mean "that's what I expected metal to sound like". Comes with the concept of the blog I guess, I would put more faith into the "I heard the song before" votes in general.
