I saw that your requests are open, can I ask How would decepticons react when they capture a human that was an artist. Precisely painter with brushes, canvases and everything.

A/N: I’ve got some previous HCs related to something like this which can be found here and here. As usual I didn’t do all the cons, just the ones I had ideas for when I started writing this

•You’ve brought a lot of your art stuff to the Nemesis, since you spend so much time there and surprisingly, it’s a pretty calm place most days

•Or at least the empty habsuite where you’ve set up is

•When Knockout found out you were a painter, he immediately offered to pose for you

•If he’s not in his alt-mode he’s a bit bad at staying still though, so he doesn’t make for the best model

•Also he can never seem to settle on a pose, and when he does, it’s something very dramatic

•And god forbid you get any paint on him, he will screech in terror, because his paint job is now ruined

•You just wipe the paint off with a rag and tell him it doesn’t dry instantly and that his paint job is fine

•Knockout is like “I definitely knew that” when he in fact did not

•He also wants you to teach him how to draw and paint

•So you go to the web and buy the biggest canvas you can find, Soundwaves makes sure it’s paid for, but you’re still not really sure how he pays for all these things when you ask him to buy you something

•He’s probably stolen a dozen people’s credit card information or something, you’re not really bothered by it though

•Anyway, Soundwave is a big fan of your paintings, and he thinks they’re quite interesting, especially the more abstract ones

•He likes to interpret things in his own way and the abstract ones give him a chance to do that

•Megatron wasn’t really a fan of you dragging all your art stuff into the Nemesis, and he definitely made that known, but he stopped complaining eventually and sometimes even comes to check on you when you paint

•Starscream is also an enthusiastic model, though he wasn’t at first

•It took some convincing, but he will model for you now, and in a very Starscream fashion, he’s talking the whole time and you have to tell him to stop moving constantly because he talks with his whole body

•You got an idea one day and asked Soundwave to buy you some metal paints

•He had an inkling on why you might have wanted them, but he didn’t say anything

•Breakdown ended up being your first victim, because he’s probably the one who cares the least about how he looks

•So he agreed that you could pain his driver’s side door, however you wanted

•You made a really cool decepticon-ish insignia design on it, and he actually really liked it

•You couldn’t convince anyone else to let you try it out on them, but oh well, at least you got to test that whole thing out

•Shockwave isn’t really interested in art, surprise surprise, but some of your paintings do catch his optic, even if only for a moment

Uhm your last ask abt fairy reader in price’s humidor and I can’t resist

Price having his fairy warm his cigars for him between her legs

Maybe she can make fairy sparks to light his cigar (gives it the same kinda kick as the honey cause it’s got distilled magic in it). Or maybe he makes her strain to flick his table lighter. Maybe he scares her with it, holding her while threatening to burn the bottoms of her feet while she squirms.

Maybe he switches to cigarillos or hand rolled options sometimes— cause with the right finesse, those can fit in her tiny fairy cunt, her honey soaking into the paper.

And in a world where people milk fairy honey? There’s probably all kinds of tools and substances they sell to get fairies aroused fast, but price has a bit too much pride, likes to do things the slow, old fashioned way.

Nikolai who keeps his fairy leashed because he can’t bear to clip her wings. To much empathy for flying creatures— he cannot rob you of that. Or maybe he’s had her long enough to not worry— she’s fully tamed and trained. She’ll lick the powdered sugar from his fingers if he has a donut for breakfast. Price’s fairy is terrified of Nik’s— will she be like that some day? Acting like she’s in love with her tormentor?? She’s even more scared when Nik offers to train her as a favor.

And she gets this funny feeling in her belly when price laughs and politely declines. Says he likes her just the way she is.

(And if we’re talking hardcore objectification. I imagine Soap’s careless. He’s been through more than one fairy in his day. No big deal— Ghost’ll just find him another. Misfits have a knack for finding them)

okay. not particularly related to what you're talking about, but the jewelry bit added at the end of that fic was def inspired by art i found which i'm unfortunately not gonna link just cause i saw it on a repost site and i'm not sure where to find the original art cause I don't have any social media. but! the artist very clearly had a line in which they depicted fairy girls being turned into jewelry and the main link piece would often be a specialized plug their size attached to a chain which would obv be linked to the actual jewelry. i don't really have anywhere i'm going with this I just thought you should know that.

hm. i can picture nik's fairy having just as much empathy for him straight from the gate. like what do you mean this human knows what the world looks like from above better than he does from his actual (significant) level? she's easy to train because she lets herself be trained, at least a little, but price's fairy doesn't know that!! she's scared as hell to be made into some docile little creature, but price would never allow it. she'll never admit she's grateful for him but she is when he tells nik he can handle it, when he stuffs her into his pocket so she can't quite hear when he says he likes her just the way she is, teeth marks on his finger tips and all

Considering I'm super disorganized about my art and don't post everything I draw (sometimes it stays just in my server or among friends, or I just don't show anyone because it's unfinished/I'm unsatisfied), I'll have to find a lot of stuff that I've forgotten about.

Actually, I can just show some stuff that I *haven't* posted! (Everything else I ever have should be here.) Some of this stuff is Krow before I added the white hair because I didn't have that idea until around April.

^ Appropriately titled "Krow Smug Bitch". Everyone has fun with the cowboy AUs so why can't I?

^ He got nervous about seeing Usagi/Yukito I suppose

^ This one is interesting. Originally it was supposed to be just Krow as a magical boy, but then it turned into a bit of a mythology AU. He's the son of Yatagarasu the Three-Legged Crow from Shinto myth. Wasn't quite sure about everything... this was probably the result of watching too much Kamichama Karin as a kid lol

^ For fans of Transformers - TFP Optimus Prime with good ol' canon CJ! I feel like they would get along. Something about that red-and-blue leader drew him in I guess.

^ This was actually my first pass at an older version design of Krow. This was a complete piece too, but I was unsatisfied within a week or two. You can still see that I kept some things, notably the piercings, beard, and the idea of tattoos, as well as the Leo-inspired shoulder pads. The tattoo designs changed and so did the armor color, but it was an interesting first try at the older design.

^ A second attempt and older Krow, I was getting closer. (Still love the fashion on this though.)

^ The point I realized that I can't draw this man thin and have to start drawing him beefier and more filled out more consistently because it would be a crime against god or something. Was still finalizing his tattoos at this point and playing around with the idea of white hair. Considered the idea of the Hamato crest tattoo near his heart before nixing it because it's too cheesy and the Hamato tattoo is something a lot of people do for older/future character designs.

^ Ninpo weapon design for Older Krow! Yes he has a cyan scythe (really more of a kusarigama since it has a chain and weight at the end). Yes it's cool as fuck. No you can't touch it.

He's basically a reaper and it plays into his whole aesthetic as a crow, which symbolizes an omen of death. Crows are also often seen with scythe and scarecrow imagery because they're related to harvests.

I don't know why I never posted this, it *looks* finished... I think there was something off about the anatomy and I intended to fix it and then forgot and ugh. But anyway! There you go.

^ A height chart for younger Krow and Yukito that I never quite finished. But it's interesting to see them to the actual scale that I imagine them to be - Krow is 5'6", and Yukito's height is reversed since he's 6'5". Since both are around 19 when they meet, they're at their full adult heights here. Long live your short king!

^ Older Krow with lightning gloves. Which doesn't make sense actually because his gloves are electrical insulators to keep himself from getting zapped from one of his attacks. But who cares about that! It's cool!

^ Scythe sketch. Just trying to get a feel for the vibe of how he wields one. His cape/cloak plus the scythe probably gives opportunity for some really cool directional flow to occur.

^ Something I doodled just the other day. Old Krow but more cartoony and goofy. Love this silly guy!

I'm sure there's many more that I've missed, probably lots of half-finished sketches and doodles, but this is a lot of what I've found.

An opinion on there being too much ST merch

Befofe starting this, i want to clear up a few things

I am aware that Vessel and ii probably have very little responsibility/say in this and it's the management/rca who is doing this

Yes, i am a fan and i support them. However, it is unhealthy and not good to blindly support every decision and action of your favourite artist, person etc without questioning them and holding them accountable

I know that earning money with music in times of streaming is hard/impossible but that does not justify those moves of tryihg to get as much money as possible out of them

This also applies to other bands, but the extent to which this aapplies to ST is extreme compared to others

We are one week into this year and there has already been a new merch drop. After 6 days. You know when the last one was? Less than a month ago. Same merch shop (US). The items? Some of them questionable (flannels??). The leather jacket? Insane (not in a good way). It looks okay but you could make one yourself and make it look way cooler and get it for less money as one of my tumblr moots said.

I remember last year up until July/August it kind of was a running joke in the fandom about the emails with obtain and how we're too broke to obtain, but now? This is not a joke anymore. Ever since last year we have gotten emails ALMOST EVERY MONTH, sometimes even several times a month about new merch releases.

Yes, there are different stores worldwide, but we live in a time of international shipping. And even for one store it's lots of releases. Plus then there's all the licensed products shops like Hot Topic, Impericon, EMP and whatever their local equivalents are, who also constantly release more merch.

What's even worse: a lot of those things are either a shitty quality (if i remember right, one of the hoodies or tshirts from the EU tour 2024 had the print peeling off after one wash) and/or really bland. Where is the cool art, the thing that makes these items special? I got a tshirt from the German Rituals 2023 with this sick artwork on it that i cherish more than anything. But compared to that most tour merch of the more recent tours has been nothing special.

Most of them just have the logo on it and it reminds me of any ither fashion brand. There's only so many jumpers and t-hsirts and sweatshirts with the logo that a person needs and the constant release of new but actually the same stuff is creating this insane overconsumption which harms fans' bank accounts and the environment and is straight up boring. There's nothing about them that makes them special and unique and cool. It feels like at this point it is a contest of how many ST logos can they plaster on an item before it looks ridiculous (on the leather jacket i counted at least four, three of them massive).

Which brings me to the next point. People just slap on a ST logo because the band is so hyped and to make money off it or get more clicks, even if it is only remotely related to them. I understand that in today's world you need to use buzzwords to make people pay attention, but with ST it has reached the most ridiculous level. The air of anticipation some magazines or brands build around some upcoming stuff with words like Worship and whatever, which everyone connects to ST, just to reveal a mid product or result is just horrible and will eventually make it less effective which can harm the band in the long run if they can't build up excitement for new releases as much as they could because everyone is 'burnt out' because it's been overused.

Overall, this insane amount of merch and using ST to sell anything or get clicks is not okay. The fan base is so dedicated and loyal and we deserve better than to be - for the lack of a better word - exploited like this just because we like and support an artist. Prices for everything have been rising for years and it's hard for a lot of us financially. We spend so much money on concerts already and then the ton of merch and everything on top is just too much. ST as a brand is used to exploit fans which is not how you should treat your fans (again want to emphasise that this is mostly on management and label, not Vessel)

You might think 'But you don't have to go to concerts or buy their merch'. That's right, you don't. But concerts are kind of the thing when you're a fan of a band, and you want to support your fave band abd wear merch and show that you like them. However, the merch and everything is limited and posed in a way that creates FOMO and everyone is always drilled to Consume and Obtain (yes that's how capitalism works and that is not good in this situation because it harms us fans so much.) I can't deny I've given in to this as well twice during the EU shows and i am now left with an underwhelming sweatshirt and a hat that i never really needed and probably wouldn't have bought if i hadn't been in this mindset so much.

'Oh but i want to support Vessel and the band.' Yes, merch does help out artists, especially in times of streaming. But how much do you think they make? Merch is using little to no lyrics or song related things that the band could earn money off due to copyright. And i don't know who owns the right to the logo (i did some research and found someone in management with three trademarks on something ST related but it never specified if that applies to just the name or the logo or the music or whatever - it was not Vessel though). Who knows how much is going to management and the label and how much the band actually earns. Right now it feels like the management and label want to make as much money possible from them for their own gain. As an alternative to support them, start buying their albums and vinyls so they earn more money off their songs.

So, what do i want? Obviously i don't want fans to stop buying merch because it does help artists to some degree. However, I want less merch releases, one or maximum two a year per merch store (so AUS, US and UK/EU). We can have a few simple designs with the logo on it, but i also want some cool pieces with art or something else that makes them special. I know artists are expensive and stuff, but that's why you make less items but higher quality. Make them available in larger quantities so that more people can buy them and they will still get their money. Plus you always have extra tour merch, which is another extra release. Make the merch special again and make it mean something to people instead of just being another logo like a fashion brand.

If they continue like this fans will eventually be unable to afford stuff, people will turn away from merch because they realise it's all the same, and the effect of using ST as a brand/connection simply to sell stuff will harm their reputation (it already is). Whoever is responsible for this merch insanity needs to put a stop to it. Please!

This is just my opinion. Disagree if you want to. Some things, especially the effects of the situation, are portrayed slightly exaggerated, but this is how it makes me feel and I truly believe this is not a great situation we're in right now with the merch.

an aside on our eyes and relative colour

I wrote a HUGE post on digital camera white balance, and this is just a little excerpt on one of my favourite aspects of colour: how slippery it is!

So!

If you light a scene with a flame, say in a campfire or on a candle, you know it’s giving everything a warm glow, right? The way it’s doing that is: the light produced by the flame is itself made of mostly red and yellow wavelengths of light. It’s not producing any light on the blue wavelengths.

The way we, or a camera, perceive color is by coloured wavelengths being reflected off the object we’re looking at. The object doesn’t create the coloured light, it requires light of the right color to hit it for the colours of the object to be visible. Sunlight, white light, contains the full spectrum of colours, and so in bright sunlight the light itself shows us all the potential colours – which means it changes none of them, which means the light itself feels white.

When the flame on a candle produces light, it’s mostly producing red and yellow light, which means if it encounters a red object, it shows us the red, but if it encounters a green object, it can only show us the molecules inside that green color that are yellow, and the molecules inside that green that are blue don’t reflect any light. To our eyes, this tints the object yellowish in the candlelight.

However, if you stay a long time in a room lit only by candles, you probably feel like you can see green and blue and purple colours a little still. As I understand it (and my neurologist family members will I’m sure be haunted by this maybe oversimplified info so please follow the rabbit hole here if you’re curious, it’s really interesting stuff!) this is your brain compensating for the tinted information by shifting your identification of colours, maybe to try and help you discern as much information as possible from the limited visual data. You don’t stop knowing it’s warm light, but you adjust to it.

As an example, and here I’m talking about your eyes, remember, not the camera tech yet (we’ll get back to it shortly), here is a photo of a candle.

First off, let me assuage your dress-related paranoia – this is a teal candle.

To me, looking at the photo, this is clearly a teal candle. You can see it’s a lovely seafoam green at the top where it’s warmer and glowing through the melted wax, and a much more vibrant blue farther down, away from the flame.

So let’s take a closer look at these colours! I have isolated a few into bigger dots and overlaid them on the image where they were eyedroppered from:

And here are the same colours just on a neutral 50% grey background.

Here I have eyedroppered that brightest blue in the dots, the one on the bottom right of the image. This is how blue it is: not very blue! Pretty green still! Because that candle’s light cannot show us blue and purple wavelengths, we end up with an image where a cold green-grey starts to feel blue.

Our eyes work to compensate in limited-colour situations. We’re actually really good at it! And anyone who makes art commercially, anyone who designs colour for film and tv, advertising, fashion, games, etc? They all know this and use it when creating images. It’s why, given full colour vision, at a candlelit dinner, you can still tell your green veggies from your red ones.

And it’s not at all new! You can see this in Georges de La Tour’s famous candlelit paintings. The brightest light feels white, and colours still have some vibrance to them, and the scene feels rich, but, there’s no actual blues on the canvas, even though we have no trouble identifying the woman’s dress as light blue:

Knitting/Crochet

Ravelry –– if you’re not new to crochet or knitting you probably have already heard of Ravelry, but I figured I’d stick it here because if you’re brand spanking new you might not have heard of it. You need to create an account but you can download free patterns or purchase patterns on Ravelry. The other main thing you can do with your Ravelry account is to use it to keep track of your projects in your “journal” where you can put notes, a list of the yarns used, the hooks/needles you used, etc. and continue to update the project as you go along. Because I am a person who starts a project and completely forgets about it for like 2 months, I love my Ravelry journal because I put down the yarn I used, the hook I used and the stitch counts for the last row that I crocheted. Nifty!

Left handed Knitting from LeftyKnits –– short, sweet videos on knitting for lefties posted 16 years ago. All are less than 2 minutes long and cover a single micro topic!

Rowbot’s Knitting Videos –– similarly old knitting videos that are short, sweet and to the point from 10+ years ago.

thecrochetside crocheting videos –– short, sweet and to the point crochet videos from 15+ years ago. Right handed mostly.

Internet Archive’s Collection of Knitting Magazines –– collection of knitting magazines that can be viewed online via IA from a variety of time periods. Some magazines also contain crochet and a few crochet magazines are buried in the mix. Magazines contain patterns and project ideas.

Bella Dia’s “vintage” style vertical stripe crochet blanket pattern –– photo tutorial for crocheting a vertical striped multi-color blanket.

General:

findoldvideo.com –– for those who weren’t on YouTube 12+ years ago, you might not know this but there were a TON of super useful fiber arts tutorial videos that were short, sweet and to the point that were all over YouTube, but since the YT search algorithm heavily weights new content you’d never be able to find them now …. unless you use this site! findoldvideo allows you to search YouTube videos from a particular year and sort your results chronologically. A good example search would be “crochet” year: 2008 Boom! Now you have tutorial videos that are less than 2 minutes long and have no promos, random extra talking, title cards, or other fancy shit because they were posted 17 years ago before YouTube was awash in “content”. You’re welcome.

Degraeve Color Palette Generator –– generate a color palette from any image on the web and get hex codes. Good for graphic design, but could also be useful for coming up with “inspired by” color palettes for your projects.

Kleki –– digital painting in your browser for free. Includes a wide range of brushes and the ability to use layers. If you need to do some drawings for your project, Kleki is a good free alternative if you don’t have paid software on your computer or tablet.

Library of Congress Digital Collections –– Free to use reference images of a wide range of items, including images of historical fashions!

ManualsLib –– did you just buy a second hand sewing machine, digital embroidery machine, or knitting machine that doesn’t have a manual? You might be able to download a free copy here on the internet’s most comprehensive catalog of product manuals.

Stitch Fiddle –– A site/tool for designing patterns for knitting, crochet, cross stitch, needle punch and more.

The Smithsonian Image Archive –– Free to use images of a massive amount of things! If you like designing embroidery or cross stitch images of botanicals, insects, animals, etc. you can find high quality images of these here and download them for free and use them for anything.

Encyclopedia of Needlework by Thérèse de Dillmont (1890) –– Dillmont’s Encyclopedia of Needlework contains tutorials for sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, lace making, knitting, macrame and more. Originally published in 1890, it was an extremely popular work on the topic and is still being reprinted today. The link takes you to a free online copy on  Project Gutenberg. It unfortunately doesn’t seem to have included the Table of Contents so you’ll need to pop a ctrl + f (cmd + if you’re on mac) and search your desired terminology. If you get it in print it is HUGE!

The Dictionary of Needlework­ by Sophia Frances Ann Caulfeild (1885) –– Read another popular book stitching, with the delightful subtitle: “an encyclopaedia of artistic, plain, and fancy needlework. Dealing fully with the details of all the stitches employed, the method of working, the materials used, the meaning of technical terms, and, where necessary, tracing the origin and history of the various works described. Illustrated with upwards of 800 wood engravings, and coloured plates. Plain sewing, textiles, dressmaking, appliances, and terms”

Volunteering Opportunities:

Project Linus ––  Project Linus seeks to “Provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer blanketeers.” Knit, crochet, or quilt blankets that will be donated to NICU babies, Peds Oncology kids, and more. My grandma quilted for Linus for many years. I think that this post is a great encapsulation of the impact of Linus and similar orgs that donate blankets to kids in need.

Loose Ends Project –– “Loose Ends is an everyone-is-welcome movement that aims to ease grief, create community, and inspire generosity by matching volunteer handwork finishers with textile projects people have left undone due to death or disability.”

Has a son, fight me.

Biggest dork with his kid. Identical in looks. (Much to his mother’s teasing.)

Nearly the same in everything which freaks Rodney out. Basically his mini me. So it’s easy for the two to bond.

His son didn’t cry when he was younger, not a whole lot I mean, nor did he laugh or get angry. Was just content with life. It got his parents worried.

The reason he was so calm was because his dad was always around. The second the doctors took him to a different room to check his psyche, he freaked out. The doctors basically diagnosed him with “clinginess” and 500 dollars down the drain.

As his son gets older, he’s managed to get accepted into art school. Much to his father’s excitement.

Rodney met his mom at art school. The two had to drop out thought because of her pregnancy. They work different jobs than their paths intended. Still do art on the side.

When his son was a toddler, he’d refuse to start the day until he got cuddles. 5 minutes or an hour— didn’t matter. He wanted attention.

His sons an attention seeker, not negatively just loves the spotlight.

Worked hard and accidentally became salutatorian. Didn’t realize taking all the honors classes would do that. Just moved ahead when he needed to.

Rodney had constant nightmares of falling asleep on his son when they’d sleep in the bed because he was a baby. For awhile he’d stay up late just so that wouldn’t happen.

Rodney struggled with dealing with his son and bills even with the help of his wife. He was diagnosed with post-partum depression.

Still suffers from depressive episodes every now and then.

Copes through his art.

His son will most likely inherit his depression.

James

Son. Can’t really see him with a daughter.

Wasn’t there the first few years of his life. Not because he didn’t care, just the mother really didn’t believe he’d straighten up to raise him.

Struggles to bond with him because of the differences in raising him. Especially because his son likes comic books and not “art.”

Got a better job to pay child support for his son.

Visits the little league games he plays, even if he has no idea what’s going on.

The only thing him and his son really bond over is the weird art movies James has. His son only likes them because they’re “different.”

Doesn’t see his kid too often because of work and limited hours together. Working to get his son on weekends and holidays.

Buys his son a lot of toys. Doesn’t ever hear back on if he got them. Saw one in the trash when he dropped him off one day.

Doesn’t hold any grudges against his ex and vice versa. Only one who doesn’t like him is his ex-in-laws.

Met his ex at an art museum. The two hit it off and planned on getting married until she found out she was pregnant. James didn’t find out til his son was two.

James doesn’t know his ex is going to give him more time to watch his son much to her parents dislike.

He still has some feelings towards her. But doesn’t know if she wants him in her life. Will respect any answer.

Hello again! New questions bc im really curious! How much do you all identify with your puppets and their appearances? Are they more of a tool for you or are they significant for your sense of self? I've noticed that your appearances somewhat reflect your personalities, was this a design choice made by your architects or have you been adjusting looks along the way by yourselves? (I know Habitually Stargazing did a little, the dress looks really pretty on you btw!) Im particularily fascinated by the antennas! Im guessing you don't use them much having a hard-wire connection to the rest of your superstructures, right? (perhaps they would be more practical when communicating with visitors in your chambers? I don't know..) Im seeing a sort of analogy between animal motifs in ancient art and masks and those retro-looking antenna resembling those used with older technology, though I might be wrong.. I'd be thrilled to know whether these hold any cultural / traditional signifincance among machines alike!

Also I'd love to know more about your serial numbers! What do they mean, and do you more identify with them or with your names?

SDA: Oh! While the exact details might vary from case to case, I would say that it's a bit of both - the puppet is a tool tied to an iterator's sense of self.

SDA: The puppet is only a small part of yourself, but it represents you as a whole. You .. used it to communicate with your citizens, you use it to communicate with your peers. Others start to see *you* in this form. The more you use it, the more you begin to identify with it. With time, its image truly becomes yours.

SDA: From our creators' perspective, it might have been a matter of needing an interface to interact with us. It seemed to be more natural to speak with something that you can actually look in the face.

SDA: Another important fact is that the puppet is by far the most expressive part of our bodies. Our biological elements can be somewhat controlled by our programming, but it cannot fully override them - there will always be a living, sentient being deep below.

SDA: One that has its own emotions, preferences, opinions; one that wants to express itself. The puppet serves as an outlet for that. It can gesticulate, it allows you to convey how you feel in a way that's understandable to most.

TFB: It would've probably been easier for them if we couldn't think for ourselves. Just tell us what to do and we do it until the end of time, no questions asked.

TFB: Instead, they chose to fully depend on something with an *attitude*! Some really tried their best to keep good relations with their iterator, afraid of putting it in a bad mood...

What do you think some social media accounts look like for some of the actors?

Bc regulus definitely just. Posts memes and that's all 😭

Imagine X's is like, a chemistry/robotics social media because he's a nerd but from time to time he puts out scientific memes. He's the kind to just use social media for the purpose of sharing his inventions.

Same with Voyager who posts videos about Violins without a single word being spoken. She just posts herself playing the violin, explains a couple things with text and yea that's it. She's very famous for her unique way of acting, which is literally just staring while text appears.

Blonney and Sweetheart are more like celebrities, they handle their accounts very carefully and post only what's necessary

Meanwhile there's 37 and her long and public collection of mathematic videos and mathematic memes to share with the world. Should she? No. Will she? Yeah.

Eternity, Ms. Newbabel and Bessmert are purely work related, they post nothing about themselves, just work and business which helps sell. They're famous actresses and also business women (Bessmert is a hc, she probably runs a fashion shop that's very famous and that's how her husband got into the R1999 backstage crew)

Then there's Vertin, Vert and Regulus or as we all know them, the sillies. They post memes 24/7 of funny backstage images.

Isolde does use her social media that much since she's more of a traditional person, she just watches a couple videos but doesn't do much with her social media aside from following her brother and Klara. Theophil uses it for art, his Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr (yeah he probably has one) are FILLED with request about the show but he also takes commissions. Trista doesn't use social media because not only is she young but she's evil, she's a menace.

Mercuria is the kind to just post about her gfs or her tarot predictions and divinations. Her old content was about making weed brownies but now she's making meditations and stuff. Yeah, we all thank Matilda for that.

Speaking of the duckling, she uses her social media to post pictures. I hc she wants to be a photographer so she posts a lot of pictures she took, lately she's been receiving some help from Click so her pictures are more professional. She sneaks in one or two pictures about her gfs under the pretense of practice. She probably doesn't use TikTok, just for following Mercuria.

Kanjira doesn't use hers as much. She doesn't post much aside from like, a picture of something she liked once a month and just follows her friends. She's not an avid poster or someone who likes messing around on the internet.

Kakania? She advertises her father's mirror company and her own career. She takes a professional approach to social media but once in a while she will post a picture of her friends. Marcus, Isolde, Theophil and Greta are seen very often since they share the same season. Pain it is to see "Taking coffee with my friend Isolde!" In her posts.

Sonetto doesn't post either, she's probably very centered in her studies, just like Melania and Bkornblume. Schneider manages her account for her, which includes pictures of herself, Sonetto and a couple videos and announcements on her own career. Not much.

Mesmer Jr doesn't have one altogether, she shares account with Vertin just to see some things but doesn't plan on making her own.

Jessica's social media is her Xbox account. She just uses her phone to play and let's Blonney manage her social media accounts, she only uses YouTube to watch videos and playthroughs.

Greta and Adler use theirs for their respective fields of work, not many unprofessional slips but they're accidentally funny when criticizing so they're like this kind of funny celebrity on accident. Their responses are like Duolingo's

Marcus uses hers for reading and buying books. TikTok is for harmless recommendations, Instagram is for buying books and twitter is for more book stuff. She also started promoting her own works and ideas there, though her content is managed by Greta after an accident.

Windsong uses it for nerd purposes, like watching chem videos, new theories or plain ol game theories and explanations, she even posts her own theories and Ley Lines revival investigations. Meanwhile Vila is more educational, she's on the educational side of social media and well, doesn't post anything but she follows a lot of very smart people

Lilya doesn't have a single post, she's just there to do her thing which is watch videos at ungodly hours of the morning with Druvis. And Druvis posts plant caretaking videos on YouTube with like, a thousand subscribers. Now that she's famous, she has many more, but she's still posting the same content.

JIN && MANTA. Fans are not okay with him dating someone who works as a hostess, and that she makes a living getting paid to spend time with men. It’s not pretty for her. Even when his fans wouldn’t regularly be so ruthless, they won’t give her a break and everyone swears she’s just with him for his money. Everyone is just yelling at Jin to “get out of there!!” like damn

YOONGI && CHAI. It isn’t great—halfway because people think she’s too young for him, halfway because they probably dig up an old Insta account of Chai’s where she’s being cringe and then hold it against her. There’s potential tho, she’s young and funny enough for fans to find her relatable at some point and start people posting stuff like “hot take… stan Chai”

JK && JELLYFISH. It’s sooooo split down the middle. There are fans who are jealous and don’t want JK dating anyone, who yell random stuff like “she’s too old for him!!” (barely two years) and “she’s a bad influence!!” (valid actually)—and the fans who go “I KNEW IT.” Half and half of people who are jealous and people who have shipped them for a long time and are happy their ship came true

JIMIN && AMETHYST. They get lots of jokes about “of COURSE the person doing his makeup fell in love with him” and when fans dig more into Amethyst, most of them call her the “female version of Jimin.” Since both of them are really sparkly and pretty, the bitter and jealous ones pretty much get drowned out by the ‘siblings or dating’ jokes

NAMJOON && KOI. After his string of implied break-ups and vague mentions of heartbreak, most of the fans are a little worried but mostly relieved when they find out. All of the pictures that get leaked of them are laughably peaceful. Like girl they’re literally strolling along a river or wandering around a museum. “Omg finally he gets some peace damn” accompanied by lots of talk of “she BETTER not break his heart” etc etc

HOBI && SNAPDRAGON. I think they would be very well loved!! They just look so good together, both of them in love with fashion and creativity. Just the outfit matching alone would be so beyooond iconic. Plus the two of them are pretty much only seen crying laughing and admiring art and fashion together, making it very obvious that they’re best friends, too. Lots of “this is exactly who I imagined Hobi dating” comments when they see Snapdragon

✧ Lunch hangout ✧

Yesterday I finished a marker drawing I have been working on on and off for a week because I felt like drawing a scene rather than characters posing in some ambiguous space XD.

I ended up drawing Kay, Ema, Franziska and Maya all hanging out because I really love the idea of these four being friends and just going to a takeaway restaurant together even though they're all very different from each other. I had a lot of fun drawing this, not only because I designed a fun takeaway space (cuz most takeaway chain restaurants look like sad generic hipster cafes if they've been updated/built in the last 15 years and I was not going to draw that!) but also because I do like how much story telling I was able to convey in this drawing and, I definitely want to try and draw more story telling art this year!

Only things I dislike about this drawing is Ema's outfit, though I think it's mostly the colours throwing me off because, I was avoiding giving her a green outfit, and also avoiding giving her a pink shirt (cuz Maya's shirt is pink) leading to it's current colour palette... maybe the pants bring brown would've saved it? Idk. Still like the design though (it's inspired by mid 2000s fashion because that definitely influenced her aa4 design imo).

But I really like everything else, with Maya putting chips on her burger being my favourite part. Because it's something I did when I used to enjoy fast food and, I definitely feel like Franziska is snobby enough to judge Maya for doing this XD. I also had a lot of fun designing all the outfits, especially Kay and Maya's because their outfits reference game lore relating to them both :3.

Oh and I drew Kay flat cuz I was talking to an aa fan online, and they hc Kay and non-binary and think Kay would totally enjoy being more aerodynamic post top surgery, and while I'm not sure what gender I personally hc Kay as, I do like the idea of Kay getting top surgery regardless of gender and enjoying being more aerodynamic as it makes being a great thief a lot easier! :D

Anyways I hope you all enjoy this drawing, I most likely won't post more stuff in near future, let alone aa fanart, as I have a big thing happening in my personal life next week (if all goes well!) that will unfortunately mean I'll probably not be able to draw much, if at all, over the following weeks.

Furthermore my aa hyperfixation is kinda going away, I think? Still love the franchise, just not as intensely as I have over the past few months so that may affect how often I feel like doing aa fan works. Hope you all understand :-)

My thoughts on The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes movie

I don’t know if I liked it as much as the original films (maybe Mockingjay 1 & 2 as they are pretty emotionally draining), but I still enjoyed it.

I think where it fell a little flat for me is 1. The beginning was a bit slow (tbh I only really started getting interested when Lucy Gray stuck that snake down that girl’s dress & even then I enjoyed the story more when the setting changed from the Capitol to the district) 2. I knew Snow would survive 3. I’d already been spoiled online for a lot of stuff that happens & 4. while I know the director did his best to make Snow as “likeable” as he could for as long as possible, even before he started getting “a little too comfortable” with killing & snitching I didn’t find him as sympathetic as Katniss or Peeta (but that is probably again down to the fact that I know what he goes onto do & there’s no real way around that), this made engaging with him difficult for me.

The world is fascinating. Getting to see all the new locations we never had access to before as well as old locations now in a totally different light (for example district 12 which, while still clearly suffering, seemed like such a bustling industrial town compared to how it is in Katniss’s time). It might have a much more retro aesthetic but there's also just a more vibrant, natural, wild & lawless atmosphere to this movie compared to the others in the franchise. The whole scope of the film just felt more cinematic then I remember the others being yet also weirdly intimate. Maybe because it was one contained story & we knew the main character’s fate from the start. I also loved the title cards signifying the start of each section of the story like from the books & wished they'd done something similar for the other films. It just added a certain flair to the whole thing. Almost gave it the vibe of a tragic play.

The costuming was great. The bright red of the academy uniforms.  Flickerman’s snazzy suits. Snow’s dapper black & white outfit. Both peace keeper uniforms (despite one of them giving very ‘1930’s Germany’ vibes) looked great. Grandma might have been a bigot, but at least she was well dressed. Everything Dr Gaul wore (except the top that looked like a used tampon, lol) was exquisite. The main ladies of fashion, Tigris & Lucy Gray slayed. Our Future Capitol stylist looked like some regal yet exotic bird & Miss Survivor was giving Bohemian, country girl realness the entire time she was on screen. Even the extras were serving (like that random couple Snow walked past on his way to the reaping ceremony).

The music was amazing. Every song that played was fantastic (shout out to Olivia for her end credit contribution). The lyrics & instrumentation were beautiful & my god does Rachel Zegler have pipes! Anyone who says the singing scenes are cringy is just stupid like I’m sorry you can’t appreciate art. Also, the words ‘ballad’ & ‘songbirds’ are literally in the title. Plus, Lucy Gray is from the poorest district, so what exactly do those people want her to do in her free time? She can’t exactly hop on an X-box for a few hours. Not too mention that (as the offspring of someone who’s musically inclined) I can tell you, it’s completely realistic for a musician to use their craft to help them deal with trauma & Lucy Gray clearly had more than her fair share of that.

The Grandma'am helped to paint a sadly very realistic background for Snow. As who among us hasn’t met at least one delusional old person who thinks that their/their group’s suffering (regardless of the severity of it or the reason behind their former/newer status in society) means that no one else are deserving of even the tiniest shred of humanity & there are some people who are unlucky enough to not only be related to these people but be raised by them.

Hunter schafer as Tigris is clearly the superior Snow when it comes to things like empathy & overall mental stability but I do kind of wish they’d been more for her to do. Credit where credit is due though her & Tom did actually look like they could be related & I did buy their familial bond (which makes her appearance in Mockingjay so much sadder in hindsight).

Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom was a bit of a mix for me just due to his purpose as a character & the limit of film as a form of media. Like sure the audience know that Snow’s going to become an irredeemable monster in the end but without a window into his mind it really does just seem like the Dean is just out to get him & even when we find out why it seems kind of unfair. Like sure his dad sucked but haven’t the Games shown that blaming children for violence caused by others is unjust (& like ok he hates Coriolanus & probably the grandma but Tigris hadn’t done anything to deserve living in poverty, as she can’t control who she’s related to)? Plus, it felt like he could have at least tried taking Snow under his wing at some point to try to hinder Dr Gual’s influence. Saying all of that, though, Peter Dinklage is great at playing an addict with depression & the idea that some drunken rambling could lead to such long-lasting suffering is terrifying. Also its pretty realistic that living with that kind of guilt & in such a cruel environment for that long would make most people jaded & bitter, even if they did have good intentions.

Omg we finally get a Mayor family on screen & they’re assholes! Madge would be so disappointed 😭. It was interesting to see how harsh & overall “boot licky” the mayor & his family seemed compared to decades later, which makes sense as the war wasn’t that long ago for them so the dad probably felt more incentive to align himself with the Capitol as well as not feeling very connected to the district people as 12’s decline probably didn’t fully set in until they really started running low on coal & Snow became president (oh I just know he wanted to blow that district off the map 😆). I also wouldn’t put it past Billy to come up with some sob story of how he really does love Mayfair but wicked Lucy Gray is somehow preventing them from being together. Still no excuse to try to send her to her death twice in one week, though. Definitely not a girl’s girl.

Ok, so a liar. Cheat. Drunk & someone who hits women. Is there anything good about Billy Taupe? Also, trying to get your ex back, while your current girlfriend is literally standing right next to you? Dude, have some god damn back bone! You made a choice, now stick to it. Also, fumbling Lucy Gray, for a girl like that? What’s it like having no brains or taste? Well, too bad, coz you’re stuck with her forever now, lol.

Viola Davies, the actress that you are. What else is there to say? Dr Gaul is almost comic book levels of insane. Like she is how the Right see women in STEM, on crack! I don’t know what she did to get into character, but whatever it was, it worked.

Jason Schwartzman as Lucretius Flickerman is a very interesting addition to the story despite playing such a small & seemingly insignificant role. He is strange in how unthreatening he is while also extremely blasé about the abhorrent violence he witnesses that it’s as funny as it is disturbing. Making him come across as  more human yet harsher than his son, who at least pretends to care about the tributes (in a very Capitol way, obviously but still). There’s also a polish & confidence to Tucci’s performance that I think Schwartzman did a great job of avoiding copying (despite knowing what audiences were probably expecting) because not only are their characters in entirely different stages of their careers but the whole ethos of the Hunger Games is different in Snow’s youth than it is in Katniss’s. Caesar is a well established presenter & during his time, the games have always been a success (minus the year with the tundra) that the entire Capitol is invested in & seemingly in support of. On the other hand Lucretius had the unique task of not only coming into a job like this with zero experience (I mean imagine going from announcing the weather to presenting the fucking hunger games) but also there were no vibes to try to emulate let alone guidelines to follow because he truly was the first person to do this. On top of that, the "event" his presenting has been panned for years as both boring & unethical. Schwartzman brought a slightly awkward, experimental, yet try hard vibe (like a comedian who's desperate to get a laugh) that I think worked wonderfully for the character.

Tom Blyth's performance was great & he was visually perfect for a young Snow (the power of a good wig! Who knew lol). Even having the cool, analytical stare of Donald Sutherland, down pat. While his appearance was very Eminem during his peacekeeping days, his realisation in the cabin and subsequent breakdown in the woods were crazy. There was so much tension between him & Rachel in that scene that for a second, it literally felt like all the air had been sucked out of the room. I could almost hear the record scratch for both of them, & all that building paranoia finally coming to a sudden crescendo in the way that it did? Pure cinema!

Josh Rivera, as Sejanus, was honestly a mix for me. Obviously, I agree with his morals, but his way of going about it did seem a little dumb. However I do think it’s pretty realistic that a teenager, especially a rich one, would be rather naive. Also I’ve heard that he’s smarter in the book & I think at times my frustration with him is more just down to the fact that I’m seeing him from Snow’s point of view. Meaning scenes that would be portrayed as noble in any other film instead come across as almost painfully inconvenient because the focus is always on how they affect Snow rather than the actual victims of the situation. Lastly, sorry, Snowjanus shippers, I just don’t see it (especially on Snow’s end), but whatever floats your boat.

Rachel Zegler played Lucy Gray with the perfect mix of natural charm & emotional vulnerability with clear pride in her culture & a refusal to let the world around her change who she is. Yet there was also an air of mystery & a subtle resilience to her that makes her potentially surviving out in the woods for years without being detected actually believable (though I don’t buy the theory that she went on to become president Coin). Definitely the highlight of the movie for me.

I wont cover ALL the bachelors and bachelorettes, just the ones who I have really strong headcannons for :)

(Most of these headcannons are HIGHLY influenced by my own music taste. A lot- if not all- of the artists I have listed are artists that I'm a fan of personally.)

Anyways. First off: I think Sebastian- in regards to goth culture- fits the description. I don't think he ever goes above and beyond with his fashion because of his depression (another hc of mine because I highly relate to him as somebody with depression), but he definitely leans more into that than he does emo fashion, that's for sure. He's highly nihilistic. He doesn't want to support the 'corporate fatcats' or big industries, instead self employed, and he hates every Joja gift. Overall there are MANY instances of Sebastian basically saying 'fuck the industry.' (We love him for that) Also, his thing with coffee and smoking is highly stereotypical goth shit. Though, when it comes to music, I definitely think he'd fuck with SOME goth bands very casually, like maybe a bit of Type O Negative, Christian Death, Birthday Massacre... but I think he tends to lean more towards punk/pop punk. Especially Green Day. (And, shamefully, Blink-182. He won't ever admit it, though.) I also think that Sam's music started accidentally influencing him. Like sometimes (a lot of the time) you'll catch him listening to rock, metal, alternative/art rock, and grunge. He got particularly attached to Rammstein, who Sam surprisingly doesn't actually fuck with very much. Also, hot take: I don't think he's emo. Some of the music he listens to (and some of the artists I've already names) COULD be argued to be emo, but he doesn't listen to like- EMO emo. I definitely think he casually likes The Get Up Kids, which ARE considered to be an emo band by some. It's a bloodbath tryna figure out the genre. Midwest emo, pop punk, regular emo... I dunno. I just think he likes The Get Up Kids.

Sam. Sam's music taste speaks for itself. He, as a character, is highly oriented around music and musical talent. I think he's huge on rock and grunge- like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones... all that jazz. He also likes metal bands, such as Judas Priest, Metallica, Black Sabbath (as well as Ozzie Osbourne as a standalone artist), Dio, System of a Down... all that jazz. He likes his music slightly hard but classy as well. I also feel like he would be big on Sublime. Idk. It just feels right. I also think he'd be casually into Midwest Emo, which he accidentally got Sebastian REALLY into for a bit. (Examples include The Front Bottoms, McCafferty, Origami Angel- great band btw, Modern Baseball, etc.) He'll sometimes go for some softer, electronic shit from time to time, like art pop/rock bands (so... Radiohead), but not super often. He ALSO accidentally got Sebastian into Radiohead. Like, Sebastian became a bigger fan than he did. Sam has a few guilty pleasures when it comes to music that he won't be very vocal about it, like some female country artists (Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood... stuff like that. He absolutely REFUSES to admit he listens to any of them.) He also probably dabbles in Weezer- which counts as rock but I felt I needed to put this at the end with the other guilty pleasures. (I could be projecting. I mean- hey. Look at my pfp.)

Abigail! (I love Abigail) She's into metal. Some heavy, screamo shit, but also some thrash metal. (She likes Judas Priest a lot. Could also be projecting, though. I fucking love Judas Priest.) I think she goes harder with her music than Sam and Sebastian do. She'd be the parent who picks their kid up from school absolutely BLASTING some metal. (For some reason I imagine it being Enter Sandman by Metallica in that scenario lmfao) She'll go for rock occasionally, something wilder like ACDC, but not as much.

(Ik a lot of the bands for The Trio overlap, but they're all really close and literally in a band. I think they would share a lot of music taste with each other. They are the local alternatives, after all.)

Emily is into stoner music. Like- Reggae, 60s rock and roll, Hip-hop, and indie. Her biggest bands/artists would be Sublime, The Beatles, Elton John, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd... stuff like that. I think she would also be into pop, but really eccentric pop, like Chappell Roan, Abba, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, and Britney Spears. Perhaps Michael Jackson??? 👀👀

Haley is into 2000s pop. Kesha, Britney Spears, EARLY Taylor Swift (and ONLY early), Shakira, Beyonce... artists like that. Some music that she likes overlaps with Emily's, but then Haley is put off by the other music she listens to- or in her words: "hippy shit." There's a lot of Chappell Roan lover Haley talk, and I think it would be slightly true. She would find it weird and off-putting at first, but she would learn to secretly like it. Secretly.

Elliot is into classical music. Not orchestra, but very piano-y classical. He would also quite like folk. He could be persuaded into folky pop, like The Decemberists. He isn't really a music snob, but if you showed him a metal song, he would be quite confused. We love him anyway.

ANYWAY. Here it is! I'll admit- I got quite carried away with this. I just started typing and couldn't stop. 💀 My autism took over my body. (I'm so, SO into music right now) Also I wrote this entire thing exactly how I talk irl, so I apologize for that.
