Deity! Reader x Ghost

AN: I'm literally just writing this bc it's been making my brain go brrrr.

warnings: light mentions of wounds/blood, you, your existence? deity reader, forgotten goddess?

Running and taking cover in some dingy old cave wasn't Ghost's favored pass time, but neither was being stabbed yet here he was, both stabbed and taking cover in some overgrown cave he'd run into while recovering from the rain of bullets. it was cold, wet, and dark, but it was better than a casket he'd assumed.

after finally finding a stick and fishing out his army funded (?) lighter he ripped a piece of his shirt off and managed to light the damned thing 'Might as well get comfortable' he thought to himself while brushing away from dust on a bolder, seemingly uncovering some ancient runes, appearing to be of a deity of some sort.

while looking around better in the previously dark cave he noticed a ... statue of a sleeping woman? odd, it looked like the person from the pictures, laying the light in an old, almost broken, torch holder, suddenly multiple other torches begin to light all around the now abandoned place of worship, and as he turned around to watch them light he heard a shuffling sound, turning back around in a hurry, gun in his hand the statue was ...gone?

as you watch the assumed soldier turn to watch YOUR worship torches light you take it as your opportunity to run, running through long overgrown vines that grew to protect your temple, own a long, crumbling, hallway, and into a throne room, he had seen where you ran, he saw where you'd been laid to rest as people forgotten your name, you'd only hoped he wouldn't follow you as you run through what was once a beautiful temple and past the thrown you once sat in answering the towns peoples prayers in (T/N), what had happened to your beautiful town? you couldn't even hear the river that ran through the other end of the cove you called home!

Ghost had seen someone run through what he assumed to be a wall but turned out to be a bunch of vines and decided to give chase leaving footprints in the dust-covered ground, something he failed to notice was that the person he was chasing didn't seem to leave any trace at all, too busy chasing where he'd seen them tuck tail and run.

Usually, ghost would be able to keep up, but Ghost was injured and still bleeding, stopping and leaning against a wall to catch his breath the chase stops, and he slides down the wall, sitting on the floor heaving in pain and exhaustion, you stop too, turning back and seeing the weakened and bleeding man is no threat to you, at least not in his current condition.

as you walk to him kneeling down to look at his wound he flinches away, unable to get far because of the wall he is against...

an exploratory kiss,  testing the waters between them + lansseax 🤐

It is a simple touch, a lithe hand slipping into his, masking a strength greater than his own. Without his gauntlets on, skin meets skin, cool and warm both. Vyke bends then as his fingers wrap around hers, bowing to her almost in the show of respect she deserves. It would not be beyond his station to leave it at that, but his lips ghost along her knuckles before pressing with more purpose, inhaling softly the scent that she has upon her. A delicate thing. Of gold and red lightning. Of the wind that carries her along, of the hard stone that is given over for flesh in these moments.

His lips trail; pressing to the back of her hand and then to the inside of her wrist, a pulse so faint dances. She does not pull away from him. He feels her hand tense within his grip: it spurs him on further. To lay a reverent kiss to her forearm, ghosting along the curve and the scales that have no desire to hide amongst flesh. The sleeve of her gown slides down as he lifts her arm, his other hand grasping her softly as his lips lay their affections upon the bend.

He breathes. It is more than he has gone before, but he cannot stop himself. Does she desire it too? Or is she simply testing how far he is willing to go? How far he is willing to poke their deepening friendship as if it is merely a fragile vase to behold and nothing more?

Vyke continues still. Drawn in by her, how close her breathing is to his ears. He urges his heart to quell, but it does not listen.

He pulls back, just enough to look at her fully. Her veil is gone, her eyes pierce him. The air is heavy. He feels his head lighter than it should, as if soon enough he will be carried away by the winds of the plateau. He wants her. What does she want? Vyke's hand moves away from her arm, fingers roughened by wear within silver gauntlets brush with such gentleness against the curve of her jawline, he surprises even himself.

A smile, slight, in awe. Of her, of what she makes him feel. In it, he moves close to her again. She does not lean away. Vyke throws himself to the wind anyway, lets it carry him as it often does, and brushes his lips against her own. Delicate at first, a test of sorts, even if a spike hits his nerves in want of a shiver down his spine. Her lips open, melding with his, receptive. She tastes of storms, and Vyke presses a bit more into the kiss until he covers her mouth with his own. Inhaling, telling his lungs to breathe, as his mind stutters out into only knowing her.

But it ends. It ends. He looks at her, his fingertips keep to the edge of her countenance. Down her neck. Away. ❛ I believe ... I would want nothing more than to be able to do that again. And again. Until I leave you as breathless as you leave me. ❜

Honestly, has nothing to do with anything in the published hcxfw fic at all, but given the year setting I couldn’t help but be curious (since it sounds like Scar keeps good contact with his mom). If firewatch!Scar and Grian ever hitched up together someday way down the line, you think Scar would try to hide it from his mother (be it his or Grian's request) or is she understanding that Scar is able to be open to her about his feelings?

Hello anon! This is honestly a very specific question that I just have not thought about? Well, not in the context of their families/friends. I do think that the time period would influence things of course. This is a story grounded—often very tragically—in realism, so it wouldn't just be ignored. It is even implied in the main fic that one of the reasons Grian's boss is awful toward him is that he doesn't actually believe that he and Mumbo were just "roommates." How fw!Grian and fw!Scar themselves would navigate a relationship could go a million different ways depending on how the post-storyline/au-storyline goes. (Is this their first gay relationship? Is this a version of the story with past Grumbo or not?)

I haven't written that and do not presently plan to, so I don't want to definitively lock down any specific ideas. You're free to theorize what you want.

However, in general my answer is that I feel like I've traumatized both of these characters enough that I'd rather give them a little peace with supportive family/friends. I think his mom would be okay with it. I think she probably just desperately wants him to be happy after the last decade. Losing your husband and almost losing your son at the exact same time probably does that to you.

oh yeah i’ve got a bunch of loz aus that i haven’t really talked about. a few of them are listed and slightly explained in this poll and explanation reblog but i haven’t gone out of my way to actually list the aus i have and really explain them. so that’s what this post is for. here are some... decently simple explanations of my major aus and what they're generally about

i have two kinds of aus: original aus (loz aus that are set in their own kinds of worlds with their own stories and twists on character roles) and then crossover aus (we all know how this works i just mash loz and a thing i like together)

original aus: (many currently dont have actual titles, so the titles will often just be concept shorthand)

in the court of the crimson king/crimson king au: probably the most developed and closest to being written out. it's got one of the longer premises; set in a industrial-esque hyrule city, following linebeck as the main character, as the adoptive older brother of link and aryll, living with them and their grandmother as the only one able to reliably make money to pay for rent and food, leaving every other week to do jobs, but he moonlights as the 'demon of the gray moon', a masked persona he'd created as a child that had long since become a city-wide urban legend, anonymously taking unsavory jobs from whomever can contact him and offer pay, often working directly for bellum, a childhood friend, the one who enabled and trained him to become the demon, and one of five anonymous leaders of the city. linebeck effectively lives a double life, and tries to stay out of too much trouble to avoid drawing attention to himself or making his adoptive family worry, but he gets dragged into more and more danger as bellum becomes curious about the identities of the city's other leaders, and linebeck falls in love with a man named ganondorf, suspected to be one of those other city leaders. ive got a few posts related to it already: this one being another vague concept descriptor, this one being an actual scene i have written out.

'gimmick' au: i cannot explain the gimmick without spoiling the au. put simply, in this au, hyrule as a whole has been at war for ten years, every race and kingdom taking sides in a conflict that seems to be going nowhere. link joined the hylian army young, and has made his way up the ranks to become trusted by queen zelda herself, and things in the war take an interesting turn as he and zelda discover a new faction, unaligned with any particular kingdom and with unknown motives, and zelda decides to set out to the different parts of hyrule, link and a chosen group of trusted allies in tow, intending to try negotiation one more time before things take a turn for the worse.

sci-fi/space au: the fun one that probably would need to be done in a visual medium. it takes place in a solar system of a few planets, link growing up on the planet hyrule and occasionally traveling to the others as a knight specializing in investigating and taking down dangerous bounty hunters, working for zelda as a friend. he and zelda uncover a plot by the yiga clan to accumulate a number of highly dangerous research and weapons held by each species as they aim to resurrect a demon to wreck havoc on the solar system- the b plot being about the top bounty hunters in the solar system screwing around, eventually colliding with link and zelda's a plot as it begins to involve them.

murder mystery(?) au: one of the older ones, maybe one of the oldest that i still stick with. this might actually be one of the first ones i tried writing. the plot begins when zelda returns to hyrule city years after her father- the former mayor- was murdered, finding that he has been replaced by ganondorf and that while things seem fine enough on the surface, random and organized crime run the show, and she begins a private detective agency as 'sheik', a masked young man, and with the help of impa, and old friend and confidant, she moonlights as sheik and uses her daytime identity as zelda to help chip away at some of the city's biggest problems and finds herself drawn into a long string of murders that appear to be anything but random violence.

ruined hyrule 1: i have two au’s with the premise of hyrule being ruined. neither of them have more specific names yet. this one begins with the majority of greater hyrule's population having long since locked themselves in hyrule castle town in order to escape the increasingly dangerous wildlife. zelda, a young girl at the beginning, becomes curious about what lies beyond the city walls, and makes friends with many other children within this sheltered hyrule, and as they grow up together, aim to eventually venture out into the wilderness to see what may have caused the outside world to become so incredibly hostile.

ruined hyrule 2: the other ruined hyrule. set in a devastated hyrule, roughly ten years after the royal family was killed, link failing to save them or hyrule in the time since. he now resolves to set out and indiscriminately destroy every demon that plagues the ruined hyrule, meeting and bringing along various allies, each of which has been uniquely affected by and have different lived in this altered, dangerous shell of hyrule.

modern (school): i also have two modern aus. this one isn’t plot driven, just a concept i have, would work best as little vignettes or something. essentially just the idea of a group of loz characters hanging out together in a modern high school (or college?) setting.

modern: this is the one with an actual plot. follows the general idea of zelda characters living in a modern world only for the typical legends to begin resurfacing and heralding dark events. plot specifics are murky, but that's the general idea.

dark mage: this is the au that where the seas meet the sands takes place in. basically just ganondorf x linebeck shenanigans in this alternate hyrule while actual plot sneaks up on them. named 'dark mage' mostly because the initial idea behind this au was that linebeck would learn magic.

horror au: doesn't have the best name, and it's ended up just being a personal sandbox for me. constantly changing, with the cast and setting often altering if i find that something isn't working or sticking. it's an au i've considered (and even briefly tried) writing in the past, but it's still too fluid, and writing horror effectively is difficult. it's a fun au, though.

mecha au: spawned because i watched neon genesis evangelion. a lot of this au's basic concepts can be found here: x but the short version is that hyrule is being besiged by massive monsters, but each race has created their own mechs to combat them. link is just a farmer who happens to have a strange knack for being a mech user, so is brought in by zelda as a gamble to bolster their chances, and he is tasked with working with a new and less-than-trustworthy crew to help fight those monsters.

'amnesia link' au: an au that sprang up in about a day and hasn't gotten too far since. basic premise being that three years prior to the story, link and a group of allies has faced off against ganondorf and, despite their best efforts, lost, with link being presumed dead by their enemies. now, link has woken up from his coma, his memories gone and hyrule taken over, and, with guidance, must once again travel across hyrule, aiming to rediscover his allies and try to face ganondorf once more.

A quick list of crossovers: I won't explain these in length, since they can range from having their own plot to just being a fun mental concept. So, the things I have made crossover aus with are:

I was just watching a video of a french grandma sharing her roasted chicken recipe (it's almost the same as my grandpa's so it made me smile cause I know it's good) and almost everyone in the comments was awful. Lot of people calling it unseasoned (it wasn't) and disgusting and lot of people getting defensive about it and therefore insulting other countries cuisine.

Like first of all why are people judging other culture's cooking, the philosophies are different, and second of all why do people have the urge to comment on everything ? Why don't they just ignore it ? It makes me a little sad.
