Both can be true. It can potentially be objectifying (you ever seen how some women treat m/m fiction? I find it gross!), but here's the thing: so long as they don't act like that to real people in the real world, it doesn't matter! It doesn't matter what I think or how I feel, because the only way I can be hurt by it is by engaging with it!

There's a nice big back button I can press if it's something I don't want to engage with. Because I find it gross! And that's okay!

If i'm offended by the content, I can even block and/or mute them! I have tools at my disposal to avoid interacting with media I don't want.

And that responsibility is on me. And it's on you to do the same for yourself.

If you want to complain to a friend privately, sure, go for it. But fiction is the land of "do whatever the fuck you want" so leave whoever makes shit you find gross alone.

Find something you enjoy instead, and move on.

I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:

Fictional characters are objects.

They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

I need tumblr artists going into game dev to actually study the greats and obtain references besides fan art. I’m getting tired of seeing representation in games not being good and being spat at because the artists don’t actually know how to make good character designs. Like why is it after so many years the only game company that can actually get it right is Riot. It’s just so annoying because these games are trying to highlight something positive but it’s being dragged down so badly because of the design decisions and now entire communities are catching strays.
