Shoes time, I've already shown these a bit. Peek the read more so I don't spam yalls dash :)

These were surprisingly easy, not gonna lie. I thought I was going to make these last, but they were actually the first thing I made.

It was the first time making shoe covers, and I honestly thought I was going to make these shoes from scratch-scratch. Thankfully I didn't. I don't know what possessed me but I just grabbed some old flats I had worn to hell and back and went "I think these can die and serve a new purpose now."

And then I cut their upper heels off, sewed it up, put hot glue on it for grip, and sewed and glued a bunch of shit onto em.

They're actually stuffed with polyfill fluff in the ends (which surprised the judges) to give them their shape. I tried to secure them in with the lining fabric by glueing it in, but I kept missing and went "fukkit it will be fine" and honestly? It was. None of the fluff came out or really displaced that much so I think it was a win.

The star and moon decals were glued on and then embellished with little stitches for detail, but it's 90% hot glue in this piece.

I honestly got the pattern for the shoes spot on for the original draft, I just had to make it bigger and shape it a leeeeetol bit more and it was Gucci. Unusual for me aisnendoe.

Finally, all the bells on my costume work, but I replaced the metal pellet inside them with a plastic perler bead instead; resulting in the bells not being quite as loud and annoying, which is good when I was hoofing it across a con for 10 hours a day, two days in a row!

shout out to the very distinct feeling of 'oh god i'm going to become at least mildly annoying about this aren't i'. binging ds9 season 1 and i outright giggled at a very small mannerism julian did. got hyped when o'brien showed up. grinned widely at kira just Being There. felt the urge to yell and cheer and scream at the slightest hint of whump. the character dynamics and friendships are beginning to interweave like strings in a tapestry and i almost detonated upon realising this. uh oh.

opinions on servant boq

Ok I have like. A lot of these. Strap in

The first thing is that servant boq is really interesting to me because we have nothing to compare him to at the moment. He doesn’t exist in the books, and the movie in which he appears is not out yet. This means that’s he’s his own thing at the moment. Shiz era boq exists in both the books and the movie. Tin man boq will always be analyzed alongside Baums/1939 tin man. But servant boq is different. He’s his own thing

Depending on the actor playing him, the way I see him varies. His primary emotions are usually angry/sad/apathetic. Michael Wartella plays him very mopey, where jake Pedersen plays him very mad!! This makes every single Boq actor give him a different outlook on the witches and his situation.

This bleeds into how he talks about seeing Glinda. Most of the time, it’s clear that she’s his crush the way that she was at shiz. He thinks that Galinda Upland is waiting for him in the emerald city and that she’s gonna say thanks for the favor babe now we can be together. But sometimes his Glinda speech shifts from ‘I like a real girl’ to ‘I like the idea of freedom and I miss my old life’ (this isn’t to say that he’s lying about going to see Glinda per se, just that how he views her changes from actor to actor sometimes)

He’s obviously pretty important to me. Boq is SO flawed and servant Boq retains this annoying stupid attitude while still allowing for some really sad moments!! Wwote just punches us in the gut with his bad decisions.

We don’t know the exact way he ended up in Nessas employment (im gonna call it employment because that’s what it is I’ll explain in a moment) so the story is pretty vague. Here’s what we know based off of tests wwote, the grimmerie and the show we have

1. Boq was offered a job by Nessa to keep him close after her fathers death. They were still in college here.

2. At some point, Nessa started changing laws and removing rights with the intention to keep Boq from leaving her.

3. At some other point, Boq succumbed to a mixture of Wizard propaganda and anger at Nessa, which led him to resent Elphaba.

4. Boq is now a (probably still paid, because it’s a job but I wouldn’t think the rest of the work environment or his wages are particularly good) servant to Nessa.

(Tests is not in the show and the grimmerie only has actor testimonies about their characters but I’m treating it as canon because there’s no other information as how he ended up there.)

When Elphaba comes in and Boq sees that Nessa can walk (god I hope they change this well this plot point is so shitty) he goes oh okay so you don’t need me anymore I’m heading out, implying that boq has been staying with her out of pity this whole time. Now. I’m hesitant to say that this is Boq the character being ableist and more wicked the musical being ableist. This plot point makes NO SENSE. Do the laws mean nothing now?? He says he can’t leave earlier due to laws but now decides he can. This just feels like they needed a reason for boq to try to get out now at that time specifically for the story. I’ll link two articles on the ableism with Nessarose below to read if you’d like to hear smarter people talk about the other ways the show has wronged her.

Ok so. He’s a college dropout working a shitty job with a boss who’s also his girlfriend and he can’t leave because there are laws preventing it that his boss girlfriend made. He’s angry and sad about all of this. He’s still crushing on the girl that told him to date his boss girlfriend in the first place. He makes the stupid decision to anger his dictator boss girlfriend by trying to leave her for a woman that doesn’t and has never wanted him, and in return she tries to cast a love spell that just ends up killing him. He’s sad and pathetic and annoying and makes all the worst choices given to him.

My opinion is I love him deeply and think he should be sent straight to hell for his sins.

some of yall gotta lock tf in cuz i was reading a fic today where the author marked their fic as completed when it wasn’t and so the first chapter ended on a hella cliffhanger

and one of the comments was like “omg this is so good is there gonna be a part 2??? cuz that is an illegal cliffhanger” and the author was like “omg yes thank you there’ll be a part 2!! i only marked it as completed because people avoid unfinished fics”

like. should you not mark unfinished fics as completed? yeah no dont do that. should yall motherfuckers ALSO be reading unfinished fics so that this isn’t a problem? YEAHHHHH MAYBE

i fucking LOVE reading unfinished fics cuz that means i get to write comments about how much i loved the latest chapter without irrationally worrying that something i say will be disproven in the next already existing chapter LMFAO like it’s fun!!! all you gotta do is:

write a short summary of what happened in your bookmarks and note down what chapter it’s on out of how many, eg. gojo gets hit with suguru coffee blast meet cute 1/?

if it’s really short atm eg. <2k words 1 chapter, just put like some random word eg. explosion 1/? and you can just relive the experience blindly again when you come back to enjoy it. have fun with this one by the way, ive done some really obscure ass words/memes where i dont know what the hell they have to do with the story when i come back to it and then i read it again and im like OHHH I GET IT NOW. and sometimes i never understand what past me had in mind when writing it which is really funny it’s like a time capsule

^pro tip you can also do this for fics that are finished. literally anything. have FUN with your BOOKMARKS they’re so easily customizable and if you get self conscious you can always just make them private lol

subscribe OR just periodically scroll through your bookmarks OR mark it for later OR use original tags to mark it as unfinished or like. literally anything idfk

I feel like now that I finally completed Pressure I can give my humble opinion on it and the entities, boutta hit yall with a tier list!!

But first a few quick notes about the developers, VAs, and artists of the game-

1) I APPRECIATE YALL SO MUCH. ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE YOU HAVE ALL CREATED AND CONTRIBUTED TO. I am just a random gal on the internet and my opinion doesn’t matter, but we have been BLESSED and everyone should be thanking every single individual who put love and effort into the game. @shandzii has made some FIRE art and we gotta appreciate that, her art of P.AI.nter has gotten me through times where I wanted to throw my laptop into the nearest ocean. Off topic but the badge art for this game is bloody spectacular, and I love seeing the badges Shands has designed because their art is so unique and you just immediately know they were behind it and it’s so pretty to see.

I also just want to send all the gingerbread men in the world to the person who designed Eyefestation, genuinely have never been so overjoyed to come into contact with a Great White actively trying to kill me<3

2) Whoever decided to throw Wall Dwellers in there is both the funniest person in the world but also the most evil- If I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard footsteps behind me and promptly lost an hour of my life I’d have enough to afford two minutes of therapy(but I also love the lil wall guys so much)

3) Whoever made the soundtrack immediately gets 1 million years of paradise because they COOKED. The final encounter of the game collectively had me anxious as hell and HYPED.

Okay but here is my humble tier list that in all honesty is 90% favoritism and 10% my reaction to the entity itself-

(Lucy is at the bottom because she stepped on me and scared me for the next 130 runs)

(The DIVINE is in C-Tier because I had no idea they were active until I stepped on the grass and one beat me to death, and while it was equally hilarious and terrifying I simply can’t let that level of disrespect go unnoticed/j)

FUCK what I said about the majority of significant changes to dialogue in Re:CoM being to adjust Axel's characterization, the most egregious change is actually this

if I had to guess, the reason for this change was because in GBA CoM, The Superior was a spooky, unknown being at the head of this Organization we had very little knowledge on, and for Vexen, the guy who runs his mouth constantly about how much better he is than the others, to be terrified of him, he must be some pretty scary dude. But then after kh2 we know him, it's Xemnas, he's very dramatic, he likes to talk to the moon, and the effect of your mind filling in the gaps about what "The Superior" must be like is gone. So it wasn't really necessary anymore, right?

Except... the way they changed it is so weird. In the GBA version, what's happening is pretty clear:

Marluxia tells Vexen that his project is a failure

Vexen demonstrates that he does not give a shit about Marluxia's opinion

he does care very much about The Superior's opinion, though, and Marluxia uses this to blackmail him into eliminating Sora- an action which is nonsensical, as the entire point of what they're doing needs Sora alive, making it clear to everyone in the room that he is deliberately sending Vexen to die

and then after that, when Vexen shows up to fight Sora, he goes "if you want to fight me for real you've gotta do it in the memories from the other side of your heart lol bye" and Sora goes "huh? other side?" and then it cuts to a scene on the top floor:

and then this gets more into subtext but here, Vexen has realized he's totally fucked and his only hope is to mess directly with Marluxia's plans (well, they were the Organization's plans, but it's pretty obvious by now Marluxia's abusing his power for his own purposes) by giving Sora more information than he should know. This does get the traitor gang worried enough to send Axel to go kill him (as opposed to just letting Sora take care of him, which was presumably the original plan)- he very specifically cuts Vexen off to keep him from saying too much (this is retained between the original and the remake)

Anyway, what happens in Re:CoM sort of follows the same order of events, but everything is changed slightly in a way that just makes things more confusing.

Marluxia tells Vexen his project is a failure and Vexen demonstrates that he doesn't give a shit about Marluxia's opinion, as before

Marluxia threatens Vexen with a weapon, rather than threatening to tell the Superior

this, notably, does not seem to faze Vexen very much. he continues to run his mouth while having the scythe pointed at him.

Xemnas is still leveraged- Marluxia points out it was the Superior who entrusted him with the castle

...even though reasonably Vexen would already be aware of this, and has still demonstrated that he has zero respect for Marluxia despite it

the lines about betraying the Organization being a capital crime are retained, probably because it's super relevant later, but then that line of thinking is abandoned in favor of Marluxia and Larxene just taunting Vexen instead

The part where Marluxia says "do it. you won't" could be seen as a sort of threat... if not for Axel's line: "You give a challenge like that to Vexen and he'll seriously want to eliminate Sora." It frames it all as though Vexen went to fight Sora out of some sort of pride.

And look, Vexen may have a temper and a superiority complex, but he's not stupid. They're obviously baiting him. Plus, what happened to him seeing himself as above the others and countering things he doesn't like with "well actually I'm higher ranked than you and also you're an idiot"? Is he that insecure in his fighting capabilities? I could deal with characterization changes doing him dirty if it didn't also make no sense in the context of the plot.

So now we have Vexen going to try to kill Sora, something that really makes no sense to do, out of pride. What was the purpose of sending Sora to Twilight Town? Also pride, over the fact that he managed to get that information? Giving the writing the benefit of the doubt, I could say that these nonsensical actions can be explained as evidence that Nobodies can have hearts and people with hearts do strange and rash things, but that just feels like a reach, which is bad because what they had in GBA CoM worked perfectly fine and made sense without any reaching for the "idk emotions make you do strange things" explanation.

It continues. After Vexen gives Sora the Twilight Town card in Re:CoM and Sora wonders about what the "other side" means, this is that version of the conversation the top floor members have:

...what? "If Sora disappears, that would mess up the Organization's plans"? what are you worried about? the only reason Sora would disappear is if Vexen killed him. there's no way they think Vexen being in Twilight Town would give him an advantage, right? they know he's a pathetic fighter. "Vexen has clearly committed a treasonous act against the Organization" HOW? HOW IS IT CLEAR? they don't express any worry about Sora learning too much, up until Axel says "I came to stop you from talking too much" when killing Vexen- and that being there makes it seem like they were worried about Sora learning to much, but if that's the case, why would they replace the perfectly serviceable lines in the above scene? it's just... baffling that they would want to lean into the narrative that Vexen going to kill Sora (which he'd been goaded into doing) is the problem here, because it just makes so little sense compared to what it was originally.

once again giving them the benefit of the doubt: Marluxia's real plan was to take over the Organization, and he saw an easy way to pick off one of the members, so he took it. the motive for stopping Vexen doesn't actually matter.

buuuuut it's the same as with Vexen earlier. Marluxia may be too self-absorbed and power-hungry to notice Axel is scheming against him, but he, too, is an intelligent man. he's plotted for a while, getting into Xemnas's good graces in order to be put in charge of the Castle. this is incredibly sloppy for him. I guess it could be said that getting so close to his goal would make him sloppy, but again, if they'd just left things the way they were in GBA CoM, I wouldn't even have to be saying this

in conclusion: GBA Chain of Memories' intra-Organization strife subplot is so tightly woven with calculated moves on all sides that Re:CoM changing certain things without taking into consideration the consequences makes certain parts of the plot fall flat and become far more confusing than in the original story
