Following my delivery, my gynaecologist provided a comprehensive diet booklet with specialised meals for healing and lactation. One key recommendation was incorporating salads and fruits with a tablespoon of mixed seeds 🥗. After enjoying this for 5-6 months, I’ve rediscovered its benefits. It’s not only nutritious and delicious but also enjoyed by my toddler. 🌿🥗👶✨ Benefits of Adding Seed Mix to Salads and Fruits 🌿🥗🍎 Nutrient Boost 🌟 Seeds are packed with essential vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, iron, and calcium, enhancing the nutritional value of your salads and fruits. Healthy Fats 💪 Seeds like flax, chia, and sunflower are rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, promoting heart health and reducing inflammation. Protein Power 💼 Adding seeds increases the protein content of your meals, helping with muscle repair and overall growth, which is especially important for postpartum recovery. Fiber Rich 🌾 Seeds are high in dietary fiber, aiding digestion, preventing constipation, and promoting a healthy gut. Antioxidant Rich 🛡️ Seeds contain antioxidants like vitamin E and selenium, which protect cells from damage and support the immune system. Blood Sugar Regulation 💉 The healthy fats and fiber in seeds help stabilize blood sugar levels, reducing spikes and crashes. Weight Management ⚖️ The combination of protein, fiber, and healthy fats helps keep you full longer, aiding in weight management and reducing overeating. Bone Health 🦴 Seeds like sesame and chia are excellent sources of calcium and phosphorus, essential for maintaining strong bones. Skin Health 🌸 The vitamins and healthy fats in seeds promote glowing skin and help with skin repair and hydration. Enhanced Taste and Texture 🍽️ Adding seeds to salads and fruits adds a delightful crunch and nutty flavor, making your meals more enjoyable. Incorporating a tablespoon of mixed seeds into your salads and fruits can significantly enhance their nutritional profile and provide numerous health benefits for you and your family. #HealthyEating #PostpartumNutrition #LactationDiet #MixedSeeds #MomLife #ToddlerApproved #WellnessJourney #BalancedDiet

In 2016 I had my 2nd boy at 30 years old. I lost myself in the everyday life of taking care of a newborn. I stopped wearing makeup , I just threw on whatever I could find in the closet , I didn’t even attempt to lose the weight and only gained after the birth . This was a complete 180 from the “ hot girl “ era when I met Eddie . It affected my relationship with him because I had no love for myself. In 2018 I embarked on a journey of self care and love that eventually led me to a group of women that support one another in our health and wellness journeys . I just had my 3rd baby boy in Feb of this year and I am taking great care of myself. I have focused on nutrition that is good for my gut health and workouts that have 0 impact for my postpartum body ! I have lost 5 lbs and kept it off this last month and feel great getting back into my my fave TikTok leggings This postpartum has been a total 180 from the last !I love look . I still don’t consider myself the hot girl …. I’m milf material mow ;) If your feeling like that is for mama and you need a friend reach out to me . I’m thinking of doing a bestie wellness group for June ! #postpartumweightloss #postpartumdepression #postpartumhealth #postpartumsupport #postpartumlife #postpartumrecovery #postpartumcare #postpartumfitnessjourney #postpartumdiet #postpartumhealing #postpartumnutrition #postpartumtransformation #postpartumweightlossjourney #postpartummom #postpartumwellness #postpartumfood #postpartumbodies #postpartumrealtalk #postpartummoms #postpartumbodylove #postpartumdepressionsurvivor (at United States) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdRtjwINVY_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withregram • @family.snack.nutritionist Can you relate?⠀ ⠀ "My kid only eats white food" (beige is another common one)⠀ ⠀ Now, don't get me wrong - what you mean is chicken nuggets, chips, bread, crackers, goldfish and the like... Right?⠀ ⠀ That's stressful because you get stuck worrying "they're only eating these foods so I better give them or they won't eat anything"⠀ ⠀ It's also easy to resort to bribery. Hey, a bite of broccoli is better than none... right?⠀ ⠀ Well, no, not really. It's like forcing an apology out of someone. Saying the words doesn't mean they're giving you a legit apology. ⠀ ⠀ ⛔Taking a bite of the broccoli isn't:⠀ ⠀ - building trust with you⠀ ⠀ - listening to their body⠀ ⠀ - building their like of the food⠀ ⠀ - teaching them about a healthy diet⠀ ⠀ In the short term, yes... bribing or giving in to 'get' them to eat. My Mama's who've signed up for the 21days transformation jumpstart challenge starting on the 9th of Jan, 2017, you are in for a treat. How delish can healthy eating get. Ok I won't take the glory here, hubby made the chicken sauce for dinner and I mixed up the veggies 😂😂. Plated is skinless chicken thigh fillets with dry mango pieces and bell peppers served with raw cucumber, carrot slices and bell peppers mixed with half tsp of garlic infused olive oil, pinch of Cameroon pepper and squeeze of lemon . Sprinkled on top is grilled beetroot pieces and washed down with a glass of water ... shall I just say this screams of so much yumminess (not sure there is a word like this) . Healthy eating is sexy guys... ok am done for the day . #healthyfood #healthyliving #healthylifestyle #healthyfamily #dinner #hubbyrocks #goals #followme #postpartumgoals #postpartumnutrition #myfitjourney

Your nutrition is super important in your postpartum period. Make sure you're consuming nutrient dense foods and drinks. Teas and soups are a really good way to get nutrients; nettles are gonna be your best friend. And, if youre breastfeeding you especially want to be mindful of your nutrition and ensure you're drinking enough water. In the next slides you'll see the vegetable packed soup I recently made for my clients. Get yourself a Crock-Pot cause it can be your best friend as well. #SetAndForget ⭐Recipe for the soup can be found in my stories titled "Postpartum."⭐ #DoulaOfColor #BlackDoula #HolisticDoula #BirthWorker #BirthWorkerOfColor #BlackBirthWorker #DoulasBeLike #Pregnancy #Childbirth #BabyStuff #Doula #DoulasKnowledge #MaternalHealth #BabyHealth #Parenting #DoulaEducation #FertilityHealth #WombHealth #WomensHealth #Postpartum #HealthyPostpartum #PostpartumHealth #PostpartumNutrition #Nutrition #PostpartumSoup #CrockPot #CrockPotSoup https://www.instagram.com/p/CFSt_JpA5ZT/?igshid=2g1a5jisrr9z

Postpartum depression
HI
It’s been a long time.... long fucking time.
I have been immersed in my work. Carving out a way for myself in this new carrier path. Absorbing as much knowledge as I can from the professionals around me. I have been neglecting all other areas of my life, I have no idea what’s going on with most of my friends, my home is a mess (like always), my body is a mess, I haven’t even seen the sun in months ( I hate sunlight anyways), I’ve had bronchitis for 5 weeks now (possibly even a fractured rib from coughing so much). I’m not condoning any of this, in fact I am finally starting to balance out my life more. But I have been working. Learning.
I’ve been to a few good places to eat and will share them soon. But first, let’s talk about postpartum depression.
I feel inspired to talk about my own experience with postpartum depression because of a recent podcast I heard.
One of the attending physicians that I work directly with, is a bad ass, and one of the smartest most insightful people I have ever met. She shared her own story with postpartum depression and I want everyone to take a listen.
Take a listen now:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/postpartum-depression-with-dr-pereau/id1335892956?i=1000409689419&mt=2
I am not shy talking about mental health, in fact I will talk about it with anyone anytime.
I wanted to share the details of my postpartum depression, because I feel like it may be the most stigmatized mental health disorder.
Mothers have such unrealistic expectations on them in our culture. Here are some facts:
1 in 7 postpartum women will develop postpartum depression (PPD) or some form of it.
Men, foster and adoptive parents can develop PPD.
PPD can happen during pregnancy.
People can develop PPD but also, especially if left untreated, can develop postpartum psychosis, and also postpartum OCD.
Postpartum psychosis can be life threatening for the parent and the child.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death in postpartum women
For Help or more info:
https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/postpartum-depression-facts/index.shtml
I have always had depression, as far back as I can remember, and never really knew or got help for it until I was an adult. But after I had my daughter, I felt something different than I had felt before.
I didn’t feel that intense instant bonding that people describe. I kept waiting for my exhaustion to go away so I could finally feel “happy” about being a mom. (spoiler, the exhaustion doesn’t really go away). I felt overwhelmed most all of the time. I cried most all of the time. I was terrified when my partner would leave me and dreaded being alone with the baby. I was tired all of the time, and kept thinking, if I just get more rest and have more of a break, I will feel better.
But also a new kind of depression symptom arouse that I had never really felt before, and didn’t realize it was part of PPD.
I felt like I was loosing my mind.
My thoughts would race and I didn’t have any control over where they went. I was afraid constantly that something would happen to me or my baby. The fear was irrational but felt totally reasonable at the time. I would turn a corner in my home and my heart would palpitate thinking that there would be an intruder or murderer hiding for me just around the corner. I wouldn’t open the blinds for fear someone might see me and climb up the balcony and break in. I started to not put my baby in her own crib in her room and only had her sleep with me because I was afraid there was evil spirits in her room. Now I do NOT believe in ghosts or the supernatural like that, so this thought freaked me out and I recognized it was a distortion but I still gave into it anyways. Then the really scary thoughts would race into my head. I would think: what if I just let my baby drown in the bath, what if I just threw her out the window, what if I just took a bunch of pills and never woke up, I would look down at my wrists and think of how easily it would be to cut right through them. These thoughts would come into my head and right away I would feel terrified for even thinking of them, shameful, and I hated myself for them. I never wanted to act on them, but they would come into my head constantly. Worst of all I was scared to ever tell anyone because what if they took her away, what if they locked me up, surely everyone would think I was a horrible person let alone a horrible mother. I begged my partner to come home from work every single night, telling him I couldn’t go on like this. The feelings of being overwhelmed were beyond overwhelming, I felt hopeless and insane.
I finally went to talk to a therapist, he explained to me that what I was experiencing was postpartum depression, AND THAT I WAS NOT ALONE in this feeling.
Talk therapy really helped me, the thoughts of evil spirits or intruders or hurting myself or my child went away. But the overwhelmed feeling never really went away. I was starting to bond with my baby, but slowly.
Fast forward to a couple years later when I was in my internship, working beyond my means, giving everything I had and then some. My stress levels increased to the point that one day, during my internship, I was at a conference for an organization educating public health professionals about postpartum depression, about how even within the health care community it is overlooked, about the women who let it progress to postpartum psychosis and the deadly outcomes, and heard other individual stories of PPD. It triggered me, I broke down, I cried right there in front of the person giving the presentation, she pulled me aside, calmed me down with breathing techniques. I told her I used to have PPD, she said, “It looks like you still do.”
I spent the rest of that week in bed crying all day, curled up in the fetal position, only having the energy to make a phone call and set up an appointment with a psychiatrist. I knew I needed more help.
I started taking medications for depression, and eventually, I had enough energy and motivation throughout the day to be productive. Getting out of bed doesn’t feel like climbing Mount Everest. Parenting is still the most difficult thing I have ever done. But I have joy in it.
Now here are my nutrition recommendations for all of you postpartum parents:
Do what you can, don’t beat yourself up for what you can’t.
Now is not the time to focus on weight loss
Now is the time to focus on nourishing yourself both literally and figuratively
So that you can nourish your little one
It is more than okay, it is necessary, to have help from friends/family/professionals
You’re not alone and you don’t have to do it alone
Now is not the time to restrict food
Make sure that you are eating when you are hungry and that you eat until you are satisfied
Make sure you are having all of the macronutrients - Protein, carbohydrates, lipids (fats), especially if you have just had a baby/breastfeeding. Your body has a lot of repair to do and a lot of nutrients to give to your little one, so you need to eat much more, it is easy to become malnourished if you are not honoring your hunger.
And being malnourished means that your brain is malnourished which means that your likely hood increases significantly of feeling depression, anxiety, sleep troubles, mood swings, fatigue, irritability, poor concentration, poor memory, difficulty calming down in times of stress, and difficulty with all the other things that our brain does for us.
Take time out for just you and you alone, doing things that relax and replenish the body and mind - otherwise there is no way you will have anything to give to your child or your relationships
Have some donuts and coffee a couple times a week!

Sometimes POSTpartum support is … * Providing hands on help with a newborn * Providing support for feeding * Providing referrals and recommendations for specialist * Listening * Being present * Taking the mental load and sometimes it’s providing lots and lots of healthy snack options to fill a clients fridge with yumminess for those inevitable late night wakings In this pic: Hard boiled eggs Carrot sticks Cucumber disks Mozzarella balls Cherry tomatoes Grapes Blueberries Pssst watch out for the Banana Oat Pancake recipe that I also knocked up today (they are so yummy!) Did you hear about the fight in the kitchen? A fish got battered 😂😂😂 Total dad joke, sorry! But seriously, I’m conscious that it’s all well and good me telling you to eat more protein, keep your iron levels up and oh, don’t forget to eat it with vitamin c rich foods too, plus all the other nutritional advice you get … but when you have a newborn HOW DO YOU FIND TIME TO COOK AND FEED YOURSELF? Speaking from experience putting a nutritious meal on the table was my number one stressor during my fourth trimester, and that is why it is top of my list of questions when I speak with pregnant families … how do you plan to feed yourselves (the adults)? Top 5 real life examples that my clients typically use in the first month: 1️⃣ Live in helper 2️⃣ @yolofoodsg 3️⃣ @nutritionkitchen_sg 4️⃣ @thesoupspoonsg 5️⃣ confinement food @tianweisignaturesg If none of the above are an option for you here are my top tips for meal preparation yourself: 🔪 invest in a food processor that can chop and dice vegetables. Do 3 days worth of chopping in advance and keep in the fridge 🥶 frozen vegetables are super quick to cook with 🥘 one pot meals are king! Think soup, stew, light curries, tray bake etc 🐓 cooking a whole chicken (or similar) can provide a family with cooked meat for 3-5 days. Store well and you can use for a variety of meals (ideas include soup, stew, pie, noodles, pasta, salad, wrap, sandwich) THIS ISN’T ABOUT WORKING HARDER THIS IS ALREADY HARD THIS IS ABOUT THINKING SMARTER and sometimes the best thing is to outsource … see 🔗s above for the mos popular amoungst my clients #nutrition #nutritionkitchen #yolofoodsg #empowasg #postpartumnutrition #tianweisognature #postnatalnutrition #sgmums #soupspoonsg #confinementfood (at The Interlace - District 4) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVyyABoP1AD/?utm_medium=tumblr

Looking at all the sweets and candy from my daughters Halloween haul has got me thinking about nutrition this week Protein is a super important part of postpartum recovery What are the most important things that YOUR body needs to do to help you become the amazing parent you want to be as quickly as possible? 1️⃣ Replace lost blood 2️⃣ Repair cut or ripped tissue 3️⃣ (Re)Strengthen joints and muscles 4️⃣ Navigate hormonal changes 5️⃣ Sleep Well, the body uses protein to build and repair tissues. It is also responsible for building bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, blood and is used to make enzymes and hormones in the body as well. There's even evidence that consuming moderate amounts of protein before bed is associated with better sleep quality, including less waking up throughout the night* I talk about this all the time with my clients. Telling them to replace those late night cookies with protein bars, and to add the chicken, eggs and lentils to the green salad. This isn’t about getting back into shape, this is about getting back on your feet. See the six images for suggestions of ways to keep protein high on your food agenda, and no, you don’t have to eat animals based products, there are so many vegetarian and vegan friendly products out there! 👉 Swipe 💜 Like ⬇️ Save 📤 Share 👣 Follow #postpartumnutrition #postpartumcare #postpartumdoula #sgmums #empowasg Adv Nutr. 2016 Sep; 7(5): 938–949. Finally I found some time making raw buffalo cauliflower popcorns! They just went inside the dehydrator! 😝 Now the whole house smells so good! 🤤 I wonder if they really become crunchy as they say. I also made a tray of broccoli as well because the sauce was a bit too much at the end 😚. - I made my own sauce by mixing things like dehydrated tomatoes, red bell pepper, fresh coriander, lacto-fermented onion, ginger, garlic, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, pink salt, pineapple vinegar and MCT oil. Spices: smoked paprika, chili, cumin, long pepper, and turmeric. - Now WAIT for half a day at least... ⏰🤤🤤🤤 - #postpartumnutrition #bulletproofbaby #breastmilkhack #fitfam #healthyeating #cleaneating #lowcarb #highfatlowcarb #lchf #realfood #fitnessaddict #ketogenic #ketodiet #bulletproofdiet #biohack #healthyfats #primal #freeathlete #healthfoodlab #paleo #whole30 #jerf #sugarfreebae #nosugar🙅🏻 #foodporn #rawfooddiet #rawcauliflower #dehydratedpopcorn #dehydrator (at Bangkok, Thailand)
