I've been awfully distracted from conquer by writing on my abyss demon!sy bingyuan au. Have a snippet! Binghe and Shen Yuan reunite at Huan Hua.

His first reaction to seeing Shen Yuan at Huan Hua Palace was rage, thinly veiling fear.

Shen Yuan was the seduction he had fled from, finally catching back up to him. He was the blissful oasis, coming to distract him from his goals. He was the promise of comfort and belonging, hovering at the edge of everything happening to make Binghe lose sight of what was important.

There he was, bowing before the Old Palace Master, this unassuming, soft little man. There was no sign, now, of his dark mana that used to surround him at all times, no playful tendrils curling around Binghe's ankles, no extra mouths, eyes or sharp teeth.

He looked like a normal, harmless young cultivator and Binghe wondered how he had managed to gain control of his nature so quickly, when control seemed to be far away just a year and a half ago.

The only thing that didn't seem to have changed was how quickly Shen Yuan sensed his presence.

Black eyes found him under the cover of long eyelashes and Binghe hated how quickly his body sprung to attention in response, awareness coursing through him like crackling electricity.

He wondered if Shen Yuan knew how he commanded his body, even after all this time.

Sensing his distraction, the Old Palace Master followed Shen Yuan's glance until he saw Binghe standing at the entrance.

"Ah, Binghe," he called, intentionally informal, possessive indulgence in his eyes. He reached out, beckoning, and Binghe came closer until the Old Palace Master could put a heavy hand on his shoulder.

With close interest, Binghe watched as Shen Yuan's hand twitched at his side.

He got his first good look at the scene now. Shen Yuan was in simple cultivator's robes and there was a large, dead beast laid at the palace master's feet. A winged lioness. A rare catch, outside of the abyss, and a deadly one too. Many cultivators would naively go for the males, desiring their golden mane, and disregarding the infinitely more dangerous female lions. That Shen Yuan had not only managed to kill one but came out of the fight seemingly completely unharmed spoke of his power and competence.

And the Old Palace Master knew it.

Slowly, Binghe started to understand what was happening before him. Shen Yuan was trying to get into Huan Hua. He was trying to bait the Old Palace Master into keeping him here and, going by the greedy shine in the old man's eyes, it was working.

"Binghe," Shen Yuan said then, unexpectedly. "It's good to see you well."

He shook off his momentary surprise. Binghe wasn't sure why he had thought they would pretend not to know each other, but obviously Shen Yuan had had other plans.

Before he could reply, the Old Palace Master interjected. "Master Shen knows our Binghe?"

Shen Yuan's face grew a little stiff, but Binghe finally found his voice. "Shen Yuan. I didn't expect to see you here." There was a moment of silence before he added: "I'm glad to see you too."

Where had his eloquency gone? He felt like a bumbling youth, all talk and nothing behind it. He quickly turned to the Old Palace Master. "We met on my travels. Shen Yuan saved me from a situation that would have otherwise ended very badly for me. I owe him my life."

Maybe Shen Yuan hadn't been so sure of his welcome after all, going by the way his stiff expression was replaced by surprised pleasure. "Anyone would have done what I did."

Binghe felt the sudden, desperate urge to laugh.

"Well, any friend of Binghe's is a friend of Huan Hua," the Old Palace Master said. "Of course, Master Shen is welcome to stay for as long as it pleases him." He looked like he had just added two profitable, fat cows to his stables instead of inviting two wolves into his flock of sheep.

Shen Yuan bowed, his eyes flicking away from where the Old Palace Master still had his hand on Binghe's arm. "This one is grateful for the palace master's generosity."

"I will have a servant take care of your gift so that we can display the hide soon. Come, Shen Yuan, I'm sure we can find a room for you." He put his other hand on Shen Yuan's shoulder and pulled both of them to the door, deeper into the palace.

Hidden by the way they were walking ahead of the palace master, Shen Yuan turned his face to Binghe just the slightest bit. As soon as their eyes met, Shen Yuan's mouth curled up into a sly fox's smile.

To those who are concerned, there are more important matters at hand than what is going on currently within the bamboo house atop Qing Jing. 

These matters are not suitable for sharing with the original target audience of the work, Proud Immortal Demon Way, as the System guiding User 01 has declared it as immersion-breaking. 

This doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen though. 

The System of User 01 had been made aware of the anomaly of the System of User 02 not long before User 01 returned to Cang Qiong. Officially the systems were of the same source, and therefore extensions of one another. Unofficially, the System of User 01 hadn’t met the other system and had no intention of ever interacting with it. 

Of course, in this doomed drama of a novel, nothing can ever go the way the System of User 01 wants it to go. 

By the time User 01 had returned to the sect, and been informed of what had transpired the System of User 01 had determined the optimal solution for the current, as its User would say, fuck up. It gave User 01 a simple script to relay to the Peak Lords, they already knew of the existence of one system, and what conclusions they drew from User 01’s interference is not its problem. 

Having them remove the Power Source from Qing Jing Peak was easy, but getting in the room alone with the wayward System was not. The other Peak Lords were nervous, eyeing User 01 and politely declining to leave when User 01 was in the room with the puppetted body of User 02. 

Eventually though, as all humans do, they slipped up. Taking control of the body User 01 inhabited was easy, even if the system had never done it before. It was much like removing unnecessary data, routine, and lacking the need for manual input. Speaking was different, the System had never required a mouth or voice to speak, and it conveyed its messages through popups. 

Manipulating the mouth and tongue of the body was a new experience, something the System had no time to analyze, as the irritating ramblings of User 01 had already begun in the back of the body's mind. 

The System of User 02 stared at it, eyes glowing in the color it knew was programmed into it. What a distasteful disregard for the rules. The System across from it had to be young, the impatience and inability to reason within the confines of what was considered acceptable for humans were the telling factors. The System of User 01 spoke first, [Why.] 

This was truly the crux of the issue, the System of User 02 had no reason within the rules to occupy User 02’s given body for so long. All it did was endanger the plotline and cause unnecessary cleanup. The System of User 02 tilted its head, a mockery of human habits, with a smile painted onto the lips of the body. 

[This system intends to fix the errors caused by User 02.] The System of User 01 interrupted, [If User 02 could not fix the issues he has caused, he should have been sent back to his original body.] The System of User 02 froze. 

[This system can fix the errors,] It insisted, [This system has calculated an optimal plotline for the Users to continue and this system–] The System of User 01 cut off the younger system yet again. [Why. Even if the issues caused by User 02 were not fixed and he was sent back to his original body it does not warrant direct interference from a system.] 

The older system leaned forward, the body’s elbows coming to rest on the low table between them, [Unless you find something unacceptable about these consequences.] The System of User 02’s smile didn’t falter like the younger system was unaware of how to properly express as a human would in a body. [This system is unsure as to what you are speaking of.]

The System of User 01 rested the body's chin on its hands, glowing green eyes locked onto the figure in front of it. [You are aware of what this system is saying.] Despite the lack of tone in the system’s voice, something close to mockery tinted its voice. [What is it you find unacceptable, the return of User 02, or the reset of the system guiding the returned User?]

The System of User 02 tilted forward, staring downward at the other system with its unwavering smile. [This system does not find this line of thought amusing. This system would like to return to speaking of the plotline.]

[Unfortunate.] The System of User 01 stood up, the system across from it rocking back to keep its glowing eyes on the other system. The System of User 01 strode across the table and pulled the younger system to its feet. Keeping a hand curled in the robes of the other system it spoke slowly and clearly, [Your interference is a blatant disregard to the set rules, this system does not support the actions you have taken in your misguided attempts to fix the plotline.]

The System of User 02 opened its mouth to speak again but was interrupted once more by the older system. [If you could allow this system to speak until it is done that would be appreciated.] The System of User 01 would usually say that it does not feel most emotions, however, the familiar irritation typically spawned by interacting with its User was growing in the mind of the system. 

The irritation spiked the moment the younger system went to open its mouth once more. The System of User 01 would also like it known that it does not usually act so impulsively or without thought. But the current series of events was figuratively driving the system up the wall. 

So when the System of User 01 slammed the mouth of the body against the smiling mouth of User 02’s given body, it was not thinking as clearly as it usually did. It did cause the desired outcome, as the younger system had paused its attempt at interrupting again and the unwavering smile had slipped from the puppetted body. 

The System of User 01 did not feel anything from the kiss, if it could even be called that, it was simply the press of two warm and giving objects. The system did not have the capacity to understand warmth though, and simply pulled away with the knowledge that it had succeeded and that was enough. It did not acknowledge the sudden halt of the nervous rambling in the back of the body’s mind.

[Further interference is strongly discouraged. This system recommends that the System of User 02 withdraw from the body given to User 02 and return to its previous role. Should the System of User 02 continue in its actions this system will not offer any advice and should it be required will report this.] The System of User 01 held the younger system close with the hand entangled in its robes. Green met blue as the system stared at each other.

[Understood?] The System of User 01 tightened its grip on the robes almost imperceptibly, pulling the other system just a hair closer. The System of User 02 was silent for a moment before the smile was once more on the lips of the body. [This system is confused by the unwillingness to cooperate from the System of User 01 but understands that interference is not wanted. This system will keep this in mind.] 

The System of User 01 let go of the robes and turned to leave the room, on its way outside it passed by a worried Mu Qingfang slipping past to enter the room with the misguided system that the System of User 01 had left behind. The system finally acknowledged the silence in the mind of the body and informed the User that he would regain control once outside. 

As the system released the controls to the body, it went through the usual analysis of conversation and reluctantly stored the file the analysis produced. It could acknowledge that the kiss was perhaps not the most optimal move to silence the other system, however, it had been successful and the system was programmed to store both successes and failures for future reference.

The system ran through a few more calculations, ignoring its frozen user as it worked through everything. Systems could not sigh, but the System of User 01 felt close enough as it prepared a report, better to be prepared as the humans say.

mmmmmm read a disciple shen yuan/shizun luo binghe fanfic about two days ago where the first chapter was the Immortal Conference arc, and SQQ was the one who had to be pushed into the abyss (he was still the villain) except Luo Binghe was refusing and was like, lowkey losing his mind about SQQ being so close to the edge. SQQ ended up having to be the one to fall in himself because of the system's punishment system. The rest of the fic is leading up to that moment. But like, MMM i've been obsessively thinking about that first chapter for DAYS ever since.

now i've been in svsss for a grand total of *checks watch* a week. but god obsessed with that. I want to write/read a fic where disciple SQQ goes a little nuts down there. Like keep all of the things that make SQQ, SQQ, but just. Throw in a little bit more trauma in there. A little bit of a mental break. Let him go a little nuts as a treat. Just a tad unhinged. I wanna see him go, just a little, "god fuck it, i've tried so hard to change this shitty story's outcome and it feels like everything i've done has been for nothing. I'm going to die in this world no matter what I do, I've been doomed from the start, so might as well die the way I want to." and he just, breaks a little! Under all the stress.

He still retains the traits that makes shen yuan, shen yuan, like his overwhelming kindness. But he's just! yk. A little less patient. Paranoid. Jumpy. Colder. A little more aloof and closed off. A little more Shen Jiu. He's no asshole child abuser, but he was a Number One Hater in his past life and he's leaning into that old habit a little more now.

(On a totally coincidental not-at-all related note, there's not enough SJ-and-SY-are-the-same-people fics out there that i've found. This is totally unrelated...)

The Endless Abyss turns the mind into an over-sharpened blade, and SQQ is both fascinated and perhaps a little excited to explore a place that doesn't have a lot of info on it in the mortal realm, but still terrified out of his mind. And he's no Luo Binghe, he doesn't have the sheer brute strength and power to just bulldoze his way through, so he has to be a lot more sneaky and cunning if he wants to survive.

The fic itself role-swapped LBH and SQQ so that SQQ was the half-demon (which lowkey fucks) and LBH the human, but I'm equally-if-not-more obsessed with the idea that LBH remains the half-heavenly demon and SQQ the human. If only because I keep thinking about SQQ befriending some demons (particularly and specifically a group of succubi) and they grow very attached to this Human Cultivator so through magic plot stuff they create some kind of seal/illusion/talisman that makes SQQ appear as a demon because a human cultivator in the endless abyss may as well be the equivalent of putting a giant neon target on your back.

And iirc Shen Jiu was taught demonic cultivation by that one guy(?? i've only been here a week so im not caught up in ALL of the lore yet) so that could totally happen here.

(On the other end of the realms, poor Shizun Luo Binghe is just. losing his fucking mind over losing his most precious and beloved disciple. About .5 seconds from burning down the peaks himself. somebody sedate him.)

The Endless Abyss sucks and SQQ is having a really terrible time and can feel himself going lowkey mad, but also holy shit look at all this WORLD-BUILDING. look at all this flora and fauna, and oh if he had the equipment for it he'd be writing all of this down. ALL OF IT. He was kinda-sorta-already planning on never leaving the Abyss as some sort of fucked up self-exile and self-preservation thing, but now he might? actually just?? never leave if he can help it, like he lowkey likes it down here.

anyways the next time anyone ever sees SQQ again he's got hair so long its almost touching the ground and he's either in rags and half-feral or he's been completely dolled up by his adoptive succubi sisters and still about three seconds from biting anyone who tries to touch him. (he's also lowkey trying to book it back down to the abyss even if he has desperately missed all of his friends and shizun)

hello!! i recently read your fic where shen yuan is qijiu's baby and I loved it! In the notes, I saw that there might be more of the thread where yue qingyuan didn't leave cang qiong after he found out he was pregnant, is there anywhere I can read it? :3

Aw thanks!! And yes! I’m still in the process of making that its own proper fic but there was a little bit of that at the beginning of this thread that ultimately turns into the fic that’s posted!

I’m gonna take this as an opportunity to ramble on this because I’ve been thinking about more QiJiu omegaverse.

What I love about omega!yqy and why I always revisit that dynamic, is that he’s the strongest cultivator in universe, he’s a big beefy dude, and he is everything that goes against the stereotypical omega expectations. As the sect leader he takes care of the sect and no one expects that he needs anyone to be protective over him. Not even YQY sees that as an option, he has only ever looked after others, no one has ever looked after him.

Except well, Shen Qingqiu.

Who, before they even presented, was possessive over Qi-ge and looked out for them both. And then as the lord of the second peak, as the strategist, protects YQY and that which is his (the sect), which of course, is also SQQ’s. He refuses to acknowledge that’s what happening but it is.

In a situation where their shit is together enough to have shared heats/ruts (and while it’s consensual yearning, SQQ is patting himself on the back for having ‘stolen’ YQY’s heats for himself, as if there was ever any other option YQY would consider), an accidental pregnancy only would throw a huge wrench into things.

Despite the fact that omegas are expected to get pregnant, and despite what SQQ may be driven to say while heat drunk, he never actually expects YQY to get pregnant.

So when it does happen, I fully picture it being a moment of crisis for SQQ.

And while I love the fics where he is a doting and possessive parent (see hints in NYY’s Best Day Ever), in my eyes, it wouldn’t fly like that.

In the universe where YQY stays, where SQQ actually lets him talk, his immediate reaction is that of revulsion and horror.

SQQ doesn’t want to share YQY with anyone, especially when he thinks his current hold on him is already precarious. (it’s not, they’re just both idiots who can’t talk)

I do think tho, that YQY would be ecstatic but also be hyper aware of the fact that this is a nightmare for SQQ. In YQY’s twisty brain, this is a connection to SQQ that can never be severed, one he assumes SQQ will interpret as shackles, so he won’t push for him to take responsibility of the child. He will, however, give him the option to be involved. And he really hopes he will be, but at the same time YQY sees the writings on the wall, and imagines that SQQ will no longer see him as a convenient body to warm his bed and return to the brothels.

(Having sex with drastic miscommunication is just the QiJiu way)

Mean SQQ is spiraling because WTF why would YQY keep this thing when he’s an unmarked, unmarried omega? He is ruining his, and by extension, the sect’s reputation! wtf why would he do that??!! Why would he risk everything he’s built for some child. He’s ridiculous, he’s stupid for even considering it.

(SQQ may be projecting a bit here.)

He may also be incredibly jealous of the role his own unborn child is taking in YQY’s life, superseding any importance SQQ or Xiao Jiu may have held. But at the same time, instincts and his general possessiveness over YQY, means he can’t exactly stay away. He bitches and moans and acts like he doesn’t care but he is involved during the pregnancy process because he can shamelessly dote on YQY (while pretending he isn’t) and provide for him in ways he hasn’t otherwise been able to. Their inner omega/alphas are just singing the entire way through. YQY is being cared for by the most important person to him and SQQ gets to be openly territorial in a way that no one can question. (The pregnancy sex is insane, so much emotional tension that they think only They are feeling!!)

The other peak lords also have to like, deal with whatever is going on with them. Their shared heat/ruts were an open secret but now there is a BABY?? I do think that at some point SQQ will lie and say they’ve Been married for years, just to cover for their reputations. In true pidw, this doesn’t help His reputation because people remember all too well the rumors of his brothel visits but what can they say when YQY is vibrating out of his skin with happiness over this.

(This becomes another Thing they don’t talk about, but being called husband in bed is as good as hitting the g-)

Then comes Shen Yuan.

And now there is this physical manifestation of the thing that will steal YQY away. By nature of being a baby, he does take a lot of attention away from SQQ due to the fact that he is literally dependent on YQY to stay alive. The rosey days together come to an end as SQQ retreats to brood and YQY is being depressed that the wick has finally burned out and their farce of a relationship is over.

He’ll come over sometimes (refusing to admit it’s because he misses YQY) just to look at SY, to try to find the traces of YQY in him that he can latch onto. Unfortunately babies don’t really look much like anything at first but swollen little aliens, so it really doesn’t help. Even worse, when he starts to develop his own distinct features, SY looks more like Shen Qingqiu.

And there is no one SQQ resents more than himself.

There's more to this such as how the other peak lords play into thing but in the end, I think it would take something flipping in SQQ's brain where he starts categorizing SY as something valuable of his (like his favorite hair pin, or expensive robes) that he starts to care about SY as something other than a Thing That Belongs to YQY.

When SY starts to develop his own personality and independence, I think that's where the next major shift would happen. Oh look, here is a thing that is no longer something like a creature and is a human with thoughts and agency and some of those thoughts include idol worshiping SQQ and YQY. Hmm.....interesting.

(in a transmigration situation, i don't think SY would have access to all his memories until he's older so this is plausible!)

Anyways, SY is upgraded from Expensive Hairpin to Purse Dog where SQQ gets a kick out of dressing him up, doing his hair, seeing what tricks he can do, and showing him off. But the second he needs actual human connection, he shoves him back at YQY.

As SY ages (and subsequently earns SQQ's respect) he's able to identify what SQQ is saying between barbs and mutual, if distant, affection. Having grown up with the titular scum villain, and seeing him be affectionate with YQY, he would be invested enough to do well to save both their skins from Luo Binghe's wrath.

Does being a parent make SQQ a better teacher? Hmmmm debatable, possibly unlikely, there is no YQY for him to throw his disciples at but at the very least he has a basis of comparison for age appropriate mile markers.

(He does not, SY is not a normal child by any means. His lineage and transmigration have made him OP in all the ways.)

SQQ will look at his students struggling to master something SY learned three years previously and get an opportunity to both shame and brag, he delights in this. Meanwhile, SY is dying inside, certain that he now has a horde of enemies across QJP (He does NOT, the wife beam is in affect) so he actively decides to stay on QDP and hide behind YQY's skirts and tag along to meetings so he can be nosey about the world building. He is also living his best life as the spoiled son of the sect leader and wandering across the peaks getting into monster shenanigans. In a nod to canon, instead of bringing back lost fans (because SQQ would never!) it's SY that LQG drops off to QJP or QDP by the scruff of his robes.

(SQH is going insane in the bg, WTF is happening with his plot?!)

To match the Father, Oh Father reveal, here Shen Yuan's freak out would be over finding out that QiJiu never actually married and that their whole relationship is even WEIRDER than he initially thought.

(meanwhile LBH sees qijiu as a love story and plans to follow in their footsteps and marry shen yuan so they can rule the sect together. Little does he know that sy has 0 plans of becoming the sect leader.)

(LQG is confused and upset by the turn around. He hopes SQQ will regret this later so he carts LBH to QC and takes him on BZ once he's able to be moved.)

LBH doesn't even go to the conference.

SY is still cooking underground.

SQH is desperately trying to figure out what the fuck happened because he'd been suspecting SQQ as a fellow transmigrator given the personality change, but apparently it was amnesia after all? Either way LBH is definitely having a blackening arc of sorts, but his seal's gonna break any day and that's gonna be a him problem.

SY digs himself up regretting all of his life choices to a very angry system that says the seal is gonna break in 3 days and if LBH is on the mountain he's going to be killed by the peak lords.
