Anyway since the brothel ladies never knew about the qi deviation and transmigration, they had no idea why Shen Qingqiu stopped visiting. So headcanon that they all thought the peak lord found true love and gave up on prostitutes. Then when they heard about Shen Qingqiu dying for his student and Binghe refusing to give back his corpse, they went ah. That's who

Thinking about a scenario where Shen Jiu comes back while Shen Yuan is still Shen Qingqiu, but instead of SJ being like "ah yes this body-snatching doppelganger" the fact that no measures for testing for any of the usual kinds of possession or impostor stuff work on him, means that SJ actually also thinks that SY is just like, him.

Like he thinks his soul must have split or something, his psyche fracturing into two versions -- him, the fucked up guy who remembers every bad thing that ever happened, and this dipshit idiot version who doesn't and gets to be nicer and happier because of it.

I think Shen Jiu would take that worse, though. Like this would be the universe where Shen Jiu just keeps trying to kill Shen Yuan. Except that he can't because the system interferes so as not to worsen the glitch that has caused this to happen in the first place. But Shen Jiu doesn't know about the system so he's just getting angrier and angrier because he thinks it's his own subconscious stopping him or something and that forces him to start acknowledging some of his issues to try and get over it, and eventually he just sort of, accidentally starts reconciling with some of his issues. But only because he's trying to pinpoint the one issue in particular that's preventing him killing Shen Yuan.

Meanwhile Shen Yuan is almost looking forward to the post-Abyss arc now, because when Binghe inevitably kills them both maybe he'll finally get a moment's peace.

But anyway, I just wanted to ask what Shen Jiu would think if/when he realises him and Shen Yuan are essentially carbon copies of each other (except Shen Yuan is just a fully white colouration) during his growth and/or when he reaches adulthood. I'm sure Shen Jiu is definitely observant enough to make that connection.

Would he question Shen Yuan? Doubt Shen Yuan? (since Shen Yuan literally confirmed that both of them have no relation when Shen Yuan introduced himself) So wouldn't it be kinda sus that they look so alike but are not related? I'm just dying for the inevitable misunderstanding from Shen Jiu and his overthinking and tendency of not-wanting-to-ask-directly.

Good question! Though, I'll just have to add that SY never really transmigrated into SQQ, so when he shot the System, he glitched everything out and became more like a 50/50 mix between his old body and original SQQ's body

I can't really say if SJ will notice how similar they are because of spoilers (ehehehe), but maybe! It is likely! If he doesn't have other things to worry about at the moment :)

Shen Qingqiu triple trouble!

So, System Possession AU of @artsarasp is going through, stuff let's say. Angsty stuff. So of course my mind was like.

Let's make shen triplets!

The situation is, Shen Jiu has his fatal Qi deviation, Shen Yuan dies by choking on food and all is normal. But, some error occurs, and both Shen Jiu’s and Shen Yuan’s souls are in danger of disintegrating from the Qi deviation. The System notices this and tries to fix it, forcing the soul to generate a body to occupy from basically thin air. But there’s a problem, since there’s two souls that are now generating a body, meanwhile the original body is still functional, though has been metaphorically dragged through the mud. Thus, both Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan materialize with new bodies while the System is absorbed into the spare body.

So now we have three Shen Qingqius. And the System is Not Happy.

Neither is Shen Jiu to be honest.

Shen Yuan somehow convinces both the System and Shen Jiu that they should pretend to just be brothers, make some bullshit about trapped consciousness to fool the peak lords, while he wacks his brain to try to avoid death or punishment from the enraged System. Which can still give both points and punishments. The problem is that since he got the short end of the stick in the body lottery, he has to be very careful of exerting the body’s limits, so he can’t get agitated. And giving punishments is very agitating. Shen Yuan is basically trying to make the System care. If Wall-E can love, so can the System, wouldn’t it be better for the story if he becomes an active member? It would also be better to leave the story to develop itself organically, think about all the character development! So the protagonist can have a more round support cast! If he read something like that, he wouldn’t have criticized so much the papapa scenes since he could just focus on that! What do you think System-bro?

Meanwhile Shen Jiu is very conflicted, since these, what, fakers? Clones? Some type of demons? Are stealing his face and seem to have some ulterior motive, but both seem eager to ‘help him’ somehow. Granted, the blue eyed freak is creepy as fuck, a fake cherfulness that all his instincts scream to get away from, but he’s mostly… nice. The definition of the word, at least. The other fake is snarky, doesn’t really back down from a verbal dispute, and, while infuriating, it’s more real. Safer, in a way, more honest. Besides, the blue eyed one is useful when trying to find synonyms while writing or finding the name of a song he couldn’t remember well. They can stay, for now.

System is actually scared. They saved the scum villain character, but made a bigger problem while also becoming… vulnerable. How could they make sure the story functions if they have a weak and frail body? They are forced to play along, become a more direct support to the characters to make sure they stay in line. But [User02] seems to have other ideas, and while they must punish him, they really can’t without suffering themselfs. The original scum villain for the most part follows the script, but he also seems perturbed by their presence, which is fine. All is fine, they should be able to fix it.

Somehow.

The three of them are mostly the same in appearance. The major difference that the peaklords catch on is the mark on the forehead (I don’t remember what it is called). Shen Jiu has a lotus flower painted, Shen Yuan has a dot while the System has an empty circle, resembling a zero. Both Shen Jiu and the System have their clothes correctly, while Shen Yuan doesn’t really know how any of his layers of clothes work, so he fastened the belt around everyone, even the outer robe. Finally, the System has their hair tight to their head, Shen Jiu has it a little loose to let it flow but staying neat and clean. Shen Yuan just, tries his best. Finally, the System’s face is kinda cartoonish, they make faces that shouldn't be possible, stretching his smile wide and making their eyes a little too big. Both Shens don’t mention it much, they just say they’re special.

I don’t know what came to me to do this shit, but now’s here, deal with it.

Yue Qi’s expression shuttered before cowering behind a mask of neutrality like a silhouette whose identity was hidden behind a paper folding screen. Shen Jiu hated it. He’d rather Yue Qi hit him than hide. Had it been so long separated that his human was now a stranger?

He truly would rather have a daemon of his own than be linked to such a person. -Our bodies, possessed by light by @melanisticmoon If you have not read this fic stop what you are doing right now. It is one of my favorite yue qi and shen jiu fics of all time. I love its concept and execution and I had to draw one of my favorite scenes. Can I ask why you call post-transmigration Shen Qingqiu "Shen Yuan" even though he/his narration uses Shen Qingqiu?

I also call original shen qingqiu by his given name aka shen jiu, it makes it easier for everyone to know which one I'm talking about. For example "Shen Qingqiu hated Binghe" is a totally normal statement to say about one Shen Qingqiu and an insanely crazy take for the other

AU of the original story where Shen Qingqiu (Jiu) make Luo Binghe falls into the abyss but, just in case the half demon brat could come back, make sure that Luo Binghe doesn't realize that it was him who make him fell.

Luo Binghe fell thinking that the ground gave way beneath his feets, seeing his Shizun shocked face (what a actor, right?).

Would nice if Shen Qingqiu was a truly intelligent and manipulative arsehole who convinces LBH it was all an accident and he nearly died trying to get him back. He creates a sword mound for LBH's sword and prays for his spirit every day! He is so obviously in mourning that no one even suggests he could possibly have done it.

LQG is alive in this AU bc a Shen Jiu smart enough to pull this off—and i do think an actually well-written Shen Jiu would be— would have made sure everyone knew he tried to save LQG and succeeded bc he would've got on LQG's good side.

LBH comes back early and spends many years trying to seduce Shen Jiu. This doesn't work until he tones it way the fuck down and asks Shen Jiu to be his cheif advisor instead of his lover. Shen Jiu has a grand time politicking with demons and maintaining a careful balance between peace and unrest. Not too much peace, not too much unrest either. He does get slavery abolished though. Maybe he eventually becomes prince consort to Emperor LBH, or Emperor Regent, bc it turns out LBH really would rather be a househusband.

I would love a fic that redoes Shen Jiu's story just with him being smarter and manipulative and succeeding. It would be so fun to read! You just know he would be coming up with the most insane exploits and be both beloved and feared. It's exactly what he needs.

Skinzun wakes Yue Qingyuan (and only Yue Qingyuan) up every morning by gently and silently pawing at his face, and stares expectantly until YQY untangles himself from Shen Jiu and gets up to feed Skinzun. If he takes too long, the Skinkits will start mewling, impatient for Skinzun to flop down contentedly after breakfast to let them nurse.

YQY doesn't know why Skinzun one seems to beg him for breakfast when SJ is right there, but he's perfectly willing to incorporate this into his morning routine (Skinzun quickly identified him as the more indulgent parent and has targeted his efforts accordingly). Shen Jiu can't stay asleep for long without YQY by his side, so he always drags himself out of bed by the time YQY is placing their food on the table. If there's no pressing matters, SJ and YQY take their time eating, unsubtly placing food in each other's bowls and making light conversation or sitting in companionable silence. 

By the time they're done, the Skinkits have finished nursing as well, and its time to attack Skinzun's tangled hair-- no matter what SJ does, it always seems to get caught in the creature's skin folds every night. Luckily, Skinzun is has a sweet and docile temperament and always behaves when SJ grooms him. Sometimes YQY takes this chance to comb SJ's hair, sometimes he just watches on appreciatively. 

After thoughtfully picking out a hair pin or hair crown for Skinzun and doing the creature's hair to match his own, YQY and SJ dress for the day. Over time, a great many of YQY's robes have somehow made their way into the bamboo house, but whatever YQY picks out, SJ still finds a way to fuss over it and insist on straightening a collar or redoing a tie. While SJ still won't let YQY help him into his robes, he's been increasingly indulgent of YQY's requests to do SJ's hair. SJ always hands over a hairpiece matching the one he slid into skinzun's hair earlier, and YQY carefully gathers SJ's smooth, silky hair into his preferred style. Occasionally risking a swat of SJ's fan to press a kiss to his partner's ear or the back of his neck. 

Once they're all ready for the day, YQY will excuse himself and begin to meander towards the door, pretending as though SJ doesn't stop him every day and pull him into a kiss before the quiet intimacy of their home is broke by an open door. Then he shoves the grinning sect leader out the door, demanding he stop wasting time and go tend to sect business. Pretending he's not watching YQY go, SJ lifts skinzun into his arms and makes his way to his own morning business, the skinkits trailing after him to play in the lush grasses of Qing Jing.

I want to say on the topic of yueyuan that I feel like a Yue Qingyuan who fell in love with Shen Yuan after Shen Jiu wouldn't prefer one over the other.

To me yueyuan is very much a second chance kind of love. It would be the kind of love spawned after the death of Shen Jiu and maybe the death of Shen Yuans lover as well, and steeped in insecurity. Both of them can't help but compare what they have to what they lost, if this is second chance for Shen Yuan as well, not in the way of comparing their lovers but comparing themselves to what their lover lost. Shen Yuan stays up at night thinking if Yue Qingyuan actually loves him or loves the shadow of Shen Jiu he sees in him. Yue Qingyuan wonders if he'll ruin Shen Yuan as well, if he should try to be more like Shen Yuan's last lover, if that will save him from the destruction that seems to follow Yue Qingyuan.

Anyway, I just don't think that he could ever love either of the shens more or less than the other. He seems to much like an all or nothing kind of man. His heart is rather big anyway, its got room for both of them without issue.
