Thank you, Cosmo fans, for all your support! Sure, the little fuzzball may be out of the tournament for good now, but his ask box is staying open! He’ll also still be ambushing other competitors with propaganda.

I intend to have him continue to get up to his usual antics until the end of the tournament, and I may have something planned for him after it ends. Stay tuned. 😉

okay I'm gonna talk abt more chapter 4 stuff.. this time about prototype's previous identity.. ch4 spoilers and also a theory below..

people theorized 1006 was elliot, which was recently disproven in the chapter 4 tape where poppy refers to elliot as her dad and wishes he were there. in the same tape she addresses prototype as a completely different person. also recall that elliot died in the 90s, meanwhile prototype met theo in 1989. so yeah, they aren't the same person

I've also seen people say rich is prototype, which cannot be true either. in a ch4 tape he speaks to one of the employees under his supervision. the kid mentions his coworkers joking about him going missing. before the bbi, it would not make sense for this to be a common rumor at the company, which means this tape had to happen after harley was hired in 1990; at a time when the company would have a reason to silence people

prototype existed in 1989 at the minimum, but considering he says "it's always been about you and me" to poppy, he's likely the prototype of HER. she's elliots daughter, she died in the 60s, meaning prototype was probably created around that time as well.

this means that rich can't be the prototype because he was human long after prototype was made

if you want my take on who prototype truly is, i'd say his identity doesn't necessarily matter. i don't mean to say his origins aren't important, just that his name and specific role in the past probably doesn't mean anything in the long run. i've never believed he was elliot or rich, and maybe in the future i'll be proven wrong but for now i'll tell you the theory i've had since june of last year

elliot's daughter dies in the 60s. he divorced his wife in 1930, so his daughter is probably in her 30s when she dies. she gets sick or injured, maybe she's actively dying or already dead by the time elliot begins his research. he looks for ways to bring her back, but it doesn't work on the rats (as he mentioned a note in the 2nd chapter)

so what does he do? he tries it on something bigger as he said he would: a human. of course he's not going to try this experimental method on his own daughter, even if she's already dead, so he finds someone else to use it on. we know that elliot wasn't evil or anything, so it's unlikely he killed anybody to use for the experiment. considering the orphanage isn't open yet (it opened in the 70s, not the 60s), prototype probably wasn't an orphan child either. if i run with my simple version of the theory, elliot may have dug up a body in a graveyard and used that. maybe a fresh one, who knows. he tried it, it worked, then he revived his daughter with the same method.

this is likely what harley wanted to know about in the chapter 3 tape (the "i learn something new about you every day" one), and also what prototype is asking harley to figure out in the ch4 tape they're both in. in that case, sawyer never actually figured out how to revive people with the poppy substance. sure, he can transfer people into the toys, but he can't bring anybody back to life

more reason to believe prototype and poppy are of the same "batch" is because it seems they are the only two who don't need food. it's outright stated about him in the ch1 trailer, and insinuated with her saying the "toys will starve otherwise" when she's talking about how nasty them eating humans is. she refers to them, not herself. her and prototype are probably the only 2 who were ever brought back from the dead, which circles back around to his monologue and gives meaning to the "it's always been about you and me, poppy. what we are". when i heard him say that i felt like my theory was lowk confirmed 😭😭

no guarantee this is right, but it's been my guess for a long time

ok a few hours later it occurred to me that Sawyer saying "you... Didn't... save... anyone..." was addressing himself, not us. Which I actually really like so that scene is a little redeemed in my head.

Also I'm starting to think that him 'going out with a whimper' is actually very fitting.

He wanted to be someone. To do something important, to be remembered, to have made an impact on anything at all. Instead, he dies alone, without even a body to leave behind, without a soul to be claimed.

More than human. Less than human. Less than anything.

It's actually rather poetic.

I genuinely feel so bad for Kevin…

Like that was a kid who clearly had a lot of issues from the start, instead of getting the help he needed all that happened was him being marked off as a „problem child“.

And then he was turned into a toy:/

Like honestly no wonder he is seething if he wasn’t troubled before he definitely is now-

Obviously he has no trust in anyone, almost every adult he ever knew screwed him over in some way, hell even the kids he shares a body with would go against what he would do.

(Great example: When Doey chases us in his monster form, it's the arms of Matthew and Jack that are trying to keep his mouth from biting us, Kevin's are trying to grab for us.)

He was hurt over and over again, clearly he wasn’t aggressive just because he wanted to be but because this was his only way of making sure he wouldn’t get hurt.

It was how he had a semblance of control, a sense of protection.

But of course the irony is: That coping mechanism brought him more pain, it was what got him killed.

Sure, maybe he could've just "calmed down", but why would he? He was hurt again, he lost everything AGAIN.

All because he listened to their judgement over his own. Kevin could've killed the player and Poppy on sight, clearly his emotions easily overpowered the other two, but he didn't.

Instead he agreed to trust them as well.

He was still willing to do that, surely if he were just a mindless monster he wouldn't be.

And you know what? I believe he blames himself just as much if not more for what happened than he blames us and Poppy and projects it tenfold.

Because maybe, JUST MAYBE-

If he didn't allow himself to trust again, then everyone would still be alive.

But he did...now see what that got him?

In his mind he's proven right.

So what's an emotionally unstable child to do? After being hurt AGAIN?

That's right.

He lashes out at the first thing he sees that had something to do with his pain:

Us.

Is he in the right? Hell nah- bro we didn't mean for that to happen! But do you seriously think this kid is thinking rationally right now??? NO! He is seeing red right now, he is in fight mode! All emotions and must I reiterate that the only way he knows how to express them is through anger and violence?

There is NO reasoning with wrath try as you might! And that hurts because yeah maybe you could've dealt with that if he was still a gradeschooler but he isn't! He is 900 pounds of living dough with a thirst for blood!

It's either our life or his now. And we already know what the outcome of that is.

Honestly I think it's better that we only hear Matthew and Jack apologise for what happened, I do not think Kevin would even if he did feel bad for what he had done.

Because why would someone who has been scorned so many times be vulnerable all of the sudden? When his main character trait is biting at those who bark at him?Why would all that rage suddenly disappear? If anything the stress of dying only causes him to lash out more.

You don't need an apology from him to feel bad for him.

He is hurting anyone with two eyes can see that and for what it's worth, I do believe deep down he knew what he was doing was wrong but it was too late for him to see any other alternatives and even if he didn't and thought he was right for doing what he did it doesn't take away from the fact that he was fucked over by life.

Kevin is not the worst part of Doey, he is just a part of him.

And that part is not just a violent hunk of playdough.

It’s a scared, confused little boy that cared just as much about every toy in safe haven as his other two components did.

Because if he didn’t why would he get so angry about their death?

My takes on the doughboys! (Rambling under cut)

MATTHEW

I know he’s described as charismatic, but I think Matthew is a bit of a loser honestly. What adults consider charismatic and what children consider charismatic are two wildly different worlds, and I think Matthew is firmly in the former.

He’s good with the younger kids- he reads to them, helps them with their schoolwork (to the best of his ability), and comforts/cheers them up when they’re feeling down. But baby talk and hugs don’t work on everyone, and while no one dislikes Matthew, the older kids definitely see him as a bit of a teacher’s pet and don’t try very hard to include him in their activities.

If he’s not spending time with the younger kids, then he’s with the caretakers and counselors helping around Playcare. Every staff member in the place absolutely adores him, and several have asked him to consider joining the team when he ages out. (When, not if. They never say if.)

Despite how “adult” Matthew tries to seem, he suffers from anxiety and trauma from the car accident that killed his parents. In times of high-stress, Matthew has a small tremor, mainly focused in his hands and arms. He also has poor balance and coordination, also stemming from injuries sustained in the accident.

Matthew cared deeply about every child in Playcare, seeing them as the younger siblings he never had. It came as a surprise to everyone when he was suddenly “chosen”- no fanfare, no goodbyes, just there one day and gone the next.

KEVIN

Playcare’s “problem child”, Kevin was taken in by Playtime Co. after his parents were arrested primarily as a publicity stunt, one they would quickly come to regret when they realized Kevin wasn’t a “quiet and shy” type of traumatized child.

Kevin’s odd mannerisms and cagey nature made it hard for him to make friends. Other children and adults alike mistook his flat expressions and lack of eye contact as disinterest or passive-aggressiveness, or worse, disrespect. Due to this, he would often be isolated from the other children, have entertainment privileges revoked, or have his possessions taken away by staff.

All of this only fed into his belief that adults couldn’t be trusted, and soon he began isolating himself of his own volition, becoming aggressive when others tried to approach him. Kevin began skipping school and other mandatory activities frequently, often ending up in the Game Station.

Kevin was repeatedly caught and brought back to Playcare, but even after lengthy punishments and increased security, he did not stop escaping. On one occasion, he was found in the Game Station by Dr. Sawyer, who was impressed at his scores, which were significantly higher than any others.

Much to Playcare’s dismay, Dr. Sawyer organized for Kevin to be able to visit the Game Station whenever he wanted, and wrote him a “hall pass” to show to security when he was questioned. All Dr. Sawyer asked was that Kevin continue to improve his scores, and he obeyed until he was “chosen”.

JACK

Poor, sweet Jackie, gone before his time due to a safety rail failure. The death of Jack Ayers is an unfortunate stain on the company’s history, a horrible tragedy that was entirely the fault of Warrenbach Construction for improperly installing the catwalks and railings of the dough production room.

Mr. Ayers passed in his sleep due to a heart attack shortly after the incident, and Mrs. Ayers was institutionalized shortly after her husband’s death. In wake of the tragedy, Playtime Co. generously offered to cover the cost of Mr. Ayers’ funeral and Mrs. Ayers’ medical care.

When Jack awoke within Subject 1322, he was incredibly distressed. 1322 spent five hours screaming for his “Mommy” and “Daddy” before it was sedated via Red Smoke due to employee complaints. Upon reawakening, 1322 spent the next three days curled in on itself, muttering to itself seemingly in an attempt to self-soothe.

Important post!

I think I need to take a break for a day or two.

I’m trying not to take the loss too personally, since it is all just fun and games at the end of the day, but since Cosmo was winning for a bit, I got my hopes up a bit too much. No shade to Pink Lemonade Driblee, though! She’s a fantastic character who deserved the win. I’ll be rooting for her next round!

That said, once I feel better, I will still be answering asks for Cosmo! People have been so kind about my silly little fluffy noddy, and I really want to keep the asks going once I’m back in the right headspace for it! So please keep sending them in! I also plan to continue drawing art for any competitor who sends a question, and hopefully a few more bits of surprise propaganda too, since drawing the magic show was fun (if exhausting!).

I would especially like some asks about things other than magic, since it gives me more opportunity to explore him as a character. Heavy hitting questions or lighter questions, all are welcome!

To everyone who’s supported Cosmo, voted for him, drawn art of him, answered his questions etc…. Thank you so, so much for everything and for helping me get involved in this event. It’s been an absolute blast so far.

An idea popped into my head for a Hosie Amish AU where Hope is an excommunicated/accused witch from her village after a mysterious illness begins killing people off. They assume it's the witch putting a curse on them out of revenge, but it's not. After Lizzie contracts the illness, Josie goes to Hope in secret for help and risks getting caught and punished. Hope - excommunicated witch Alaric - the drunk, abusive Bishop or pastor? Josie & Lizzie - daughters of the pastor Landon - arranged marriage to Josie Kaleb - Cleo - MG - Ethan - Finch - Rafael - Perhaps other Mikaelsons? ..... still thinking of what other characters would be I mostly blame Amish Witches: The True Story of Holmes County special on Hulu for this one, but even if it says "true story", I know it's fake Hollywood because the Amish would never allow themselves to be filmed as far as I know and seen on TV and in person (I live about an hour away from Amish country). I can't help but be curiously entertained by the idea though that this exists somewhere in the world. (It was that good of a movie even if it was supposed to act like a documentary. Think Blair Witch Project) And the magic I'm talking about is like with healing magic (using traditional medicine and other methods). If there's any former Amish that could enlighten me out there on this subject, I'm all ears. I know that's a long shot though. lmaoooo

There's also this 2nd idea I have for this fic that Hope is an English girl (which literally means non-Amish for those who aren't familiar) that meets Josie one day in their local Amish supermarket and makes an excuse to see her more often.

despite how awful of a person Harley Sawyer is, there is something so fascinating and horrifying about his situation. It's karma for everything he's done, and yet barely a fraction of the pain he's inflicted upon the experiments he worked on. Tethered down and forced away from his own vision, seeing himself as an artist of progress. Dragged to the level of the creations he views as objects; yet lesser. Sawyer insists that something was done incorrectly in the surgery to make him The Doctor. He would never make such a mistake, he could never be what he made others. It isn't the way of the world - his way.

Yet even with his body destroyed and torn in an attempt to force him into complacency, he still holds power. Sawyer is necessary for operations to continue, otherwise they would have simply killed him. I imagine that overtime and as his rage subsides, he recognises this. Leith Pierre needs him. Playtime Co. needs him. The Prototype will later need him. He cannot be on the same level as those who dragged him down or those he created. The Doctor is his own rank of existence with just as much power as he had before. While they ruined his body, the one thing they need from him is exactly what makes him dangerous.

Of course, The Doctor still holds resentment about how he became what he did - he's still severely limited. But the idea of the horror fizzling away as he gets used to the new system, learns to operate his parts and figures out loopholes and ways to work in the shadows. He becomes something else, maybe not greater, but different with new resources. Humans are most creative when they're under limitation, and as a young Sawyer once said, progress doesn't care for how anyone feels about it.

Okay, so I’ve been listening to the Doey Commercial Jingle on repeat today and one verse in particular stood out to me:

So many toys in one(Woah)Triple times the friend and triple times the fun(Times the fun)

Now, aside from this particular verse and this image from the in-universe commercial:

Being subtle foreshadowing to the nature of Doey’s creation, a thought occurred to me:

Was this commercial made before or after the Bigger Bodies version of Doey was created?

Like, if we take this commercial into account Playtime Co. either:

A. Added the concept of “triple times the friend and triple times the fun” to the tagline of their Doey toy and Playtime Dough as a cruel nod to their crimes.

Or

B. Playtime Co. deliberately added Matthew and Kevin into the mix JUST TO MIRROR THEIR PRODUCT’S TAGLINE.
