*in my AOT high school AU goth Eren is hired to babysit Gabi and Falco*
Eren: So, do you two like anime?
Gabi and Falco: Yes.
Eren: Cool, why don’t we watch my all time favorite anime.
Falco: Is it Pokémon?
Eren: No, I have nice nostalgic memories about it, but that isn’t my all time favorite.
Gabi: Is it Fullmetal Alchemist?
Eren: That is a good choice, but no.
Falco: Is it My Hero Academia.
Eren: That is actually my second all time favorite anime, so no.
Gabi: Is it Spy x Family?
Eren: Historia just convinced to start that one since that is her all time favorite anime and it is really good, but no.
Falco: So what is your all time favorite anime?
Eren: My all time favorite anime is a little something called Berserk.
*after they finish watching Berserk Falco is hiding from what he just saw under a blanket fort while Gabi looks really excited*
Gabi: That was so cool.
Eren: So you want to start borrowing my copies of the manga so you can find out what happens next.
Gabi: Hell yeah.
Eren: Cool, you might want to them from your parents while you’re reading them, they wouldn’t appreciate a series like Berserk.

u seem to like/draw like . everyone in somnium files im dying to know what ur ranking of them is and why like i cant pin down a favorite based on ur posts
My ranking is honestly kind of simple because I love everyone! (tier list so I can organize my thoughts accidently put Saito in the wrong spot he SHOULD. be next to So)
I honestly really like every character in the first game. Every character feels unique and like they have a reason to be there, even Mame who doesn't get much screen time. They all have their own thing going on which I feel helps flesh out the world they live in really well.
Date and Mizuki are my top faves but everyone else in that tier is really close to them sdkfhsd, their route just personally hit the hardest for me, and then Ota's route.. (although honestly every route hits in such a good different way) I love their dynamic so much, and a lot of their dynamic reminds me of my and my dad LOL (just in a more healthy way than them) Basically the moment I saw Mizuki in that pillar I knew I was going to love her, traumatized young child that seems to have sooo many issues and knows the protag? sign me up! But yeah, going from her route and the ones on the left side to the right side was so jarring because there is like. No Mizuki in Iris' route like at all, which made me very sad. But when she is there she totally just steals the scene so I get it skjfskd Having all the other characters trying to tell Date how Not Okay she is always made me so mad at Date like "Sir!! Sir please help your daughter" and he just didnt. I think thats one thing that bothers me but its easy to ignore since the route wasn't about her. BUT YEAH I Love Date and Mizuki and their dynamic they are my faves and I REALLY!! Wish it didn't feel like everyone just. forgot about Mizuki in the end of the true route. But thats ok because I guess it makes sense, Date was struggling lmao I loveddd what we saw of Falco which is why he's UP there too, I just find him so facsinating and loved seeing how much he loved Iris and Hitomi, and just how much he was willing to lose in order to protect them. Hitomi is also definitely one of my favourites because shes also just so fascinating, I will always have a memory of playing her backstory part with my friend in my hallway because we couldnt find anywhere to charge her switch, and just being so FLOORED at everything she revealed. That poor woman has been through so much and still remains hopeful and filled with so much love and that just. ow. I love her sm. I love Iris. I used to hate Iris. (I played the left side first, so it wasn't really Iris) She got on my nerves because of how obviously manipulative she was to Date, but now I love that about her shes so cheeky sdkfjsdf she gets so many of her traits from her Uncle <3 Such a goofy girl I looove her dynamic with literally all of the characters because it shows just how SMART! She is I don't think she gets enough credit for how smart she is. Aiba is so silly and I love her, shes such a strong character in the first game and her relationship with Date really is everything to me. The warehouse scene almost made me cry but because I knew she would come back after it didnt affect me as hard BUT STILL. "I hate you Aiba and I never want to see you again" is a line I will never be able to forget. Her humour is one of the best parts of the game and I just love how much she shines in somniums when messing with Date, neither of them have a single thought, do they sdhfshdf I'd go over the other 3 in my top tier but this is already very long UM.... if you want me to talk more about a specific character feel free to send another ask!! (Just a note, this is my opinion on all the characters excluding how they may have been changed in aini, not for any reason I just like the characters more in the first game)
#talking#long post#SORRY THIS GOT SO RAMBLY....#I LOVE HTEM ALL SO MUCH...#aitsf spoilers#this game. man this game. I love everyone in this game smmm

Rory I have more tpt scenerios, but in canon verse
Reader visiting the headquarters, Levi being restless, that poor guy wants to spend his time with his love 🥺. When reader finally finished her meetings with everyone, she enters his office. She didn’t even have a moment, she finds herself between Levi’s chest and the wall. “You don’t know how much I missed you” Levi murmurs. He then kisses her. The kiss becomes really heated you know what I mean . Then the idiot Eren walks in, carrying more paperworks and sees them in this state. You know what the captain will do to him. Eren will have to sign his death certificate
Fast forward in the end chapter, when Eren throws tantrum at Armin, saying that he doesn’t want Mikasa to find another man. Cae and Al’s expression 😕😑
The forest scene: Falco watches Al, Cae and Levi. Suddenly, he remembers the scene where Porco gets attacked by the Ackermanns and he was so afraid. They won’t ever harm the sweet child
Back to where the twins sister exist, Eren, Jean and Reiner have to compet each other to win Elara’s heart. But little did they know, they have to face the three Ackermanns.
AAAAA LET ME SHOWER YOU WITH VIRTUAL HUGS :<
1. poor eren dnidje he has to bleach his eyes after that. there't not enough moments where levi has alone moments with reader. when she enters his office that day, he can't help but cherish her and worship her body on his desk. after days of being interrupted by his sons and daughter, levi is frustrated. so, imagine when eren clambers inside his office with piling paperwork. the first thing that levi does is to cover reader with his frame since her blouse became unbuttoned and to prevent the boy to see her in such a messy state. he throws the scariest glare eren has received in his life. after that, altair laughs at eren's traumatized posture during dinner while caelum holds back his giggles since one of them laughing at someone is enough.
2. oh my god, i know people will come for me bc of this but to this day, i laugh when i remember that panel istg. i literally said pathetic before reading armin's panel and when i did read his reaction, i cackled bc same, babe, great minds think alike /j. bc of that panel, i never want to date someone like eren in my life HHHSWIJD and we're the same age omfg.
putting that aside 😮💨, altair and caelum stare at him with disgusted faces bc who would've thought that after all the shit eren put them through, he acts like a kid. so, are they going to accept his reaction like he didn't place a death flag above their heads? no <3. altair even crouches in front of him, all for spite but who knows, and says, "do you have any violent reactions if i'm that man? the one who will live happily with her?" the three of them are speechless yet altair continues, "she deserves happiness, ren, and i'm willing to give her that even if i don't see her like how you do. i love her more than that romantic bullshit and i have no qualms of living the rest of my life with her. if there are different soulmates, i know she's one of mine."
it's just a bluff to make eren realize that his thought process regarding mikasa is wrong but he really means it. the bond he has with mikasa is unconditional --- almost every time she goes after eren, he's making sure she's safe a few paces behind. their relationship doesn't even have to be romantic (think of evelyn hugo and harry cameron in the seven husbands of evelyn hugo --- i adore their relationship so much) --- he's mikasa's best friend, equal, brother figure, and keeper of secrets.
oh my god, i never meant to delve deeper into mikasa's and altair's relationship in canonverse aaaaa kill me now T^T take note that i am not promoting incest, it's far from it. an ancestor family can branch out into various family lines through generations. yes, they're distant relatives but getting together doesn't necessarily mean they have to bring a child in the world nor it is bathed entirely in romance. (on a side note; there are people who pair levi and mikasa together soooo.)
3. falco is safe with these three :<< there's no reason for them to hurt him. caelum senses someone intensely watching them and when he finds falco staring at him, he waves with a small smile. falco is surprised that one of the most-feared individuals bear kindness in his smile. because of the horrified reaction on the boy's face, caelum stands up from beside armin and sits next to falco. there, he clarifies that he had a duty to fulfill like everyone else, that's why him and his family went after porco like that. in the end, the boy warms up to him <3
4. these three idiots, they share one brain cell when the twins' little sister comes around. elara doesn't know that there are three foreboding harbingers of discomfort competing for her attention. almost every time eren, reiner, and jean man up to talk to her, the twins would appear in front of them, directing each of them towards the stables bc of a supposed stable duty (there's none :>>). elara then questions why she's always called to her father's office the moment she steps inside the survey corps headquarters. the three stooges choose the wrong girl to impress.

Eren and Historia
Eren and Historia have a connection to one another. No, I don’t think they are romantically connect, nor do I believe they are co-conspirators plotting to destroy the world together. However, the narrative is pushing the idea that Eren and HIstoria are somehow connected and continually pushing them next to each other. Eren kissing Historia’s ring is the trigger for his vision that commits him to the path of destroying the world. Eren uses Historia as a reason to accelerate his plan. Eren confides his plan solely in Historia. The reason this line is drawn between the two characters is that they are CHARACTER FOILS. Eren and Historia are two people who seem like opposites but they’re actually incredibly similiar to one another. Almost too similiar to ever et along. The extreme similarities between Eren and Historia, and their character foiling underneath the cut.
1. Historia’s Regression
So I’ve gotten countless asks on my opinion of Historia’s behavior in the final arc. My opinion is that we’re being shown the result of her regression to her pre-uprising arc self. Is this the best writing choice for Historia’s character? I do not know. There are two schools of literary analysis that boil down to “Is the writing good?” or “what is the author trying to say?” and I much prefer to stick to the latter. I think the text is attempting to portray Historia regressing on her character arc, and as a person to mirror Eren’s own regression.
Everybody is regressing in the final arc. Armin lets his poor self-esteem sabotage his decision making ability like he did in Trost. Mikasa is struggling to find a way to live without Eren and see herself as a person seperate from Eren because of her codependent nature, once again like Trost. Annie wants to pretend that this all has nothing to do with her, like in the female titan arc. Hange can’t make a decision without Erwin around and wants to leave it all up to him even though he’s literally dead. The characters in the final arc are written as still struggling with what we think they should have gotten over with in earlier arcs. Heck, Jean still beats up Reiner over what happened to Marco.
It’s not because after all this time the characters haven’t progressed in their character arcs at all. It’s because the story structure of Attack on Titan is chiastic. The beginning and the end are written to mirror each other.
Chiastic structure, or chiastic pattern, is a literary technique in narrative motifs and other textual passages. An example of chiastic structure would be two ideas, A and B, together with variants A' and B', being presented as A,B,B',A'.
Sometimes instead of character development being a straight journey from point A to point B, it’s instead more like a helicopter hovering around the point, continually circling it. The character has brief moments of revelation where you think they’ve had their big change only to regress later. Lemme use this example from Tokyo Ghoul to illustrate my idea.
A character seems to be progressing, and we believe they are, only to regress in the end. I think narratively there is a very strong reason for Isayama using this style of character development. Every single major character is either a child soldier right now just barely on the cusp of adulthood, or they like Levi were child soldiers at one point or another. The adults, few that they are, are all either cast as incapable of acting as strong decisive role models (Hange) or are killed off eventually (Erwin).
It’s like what Magath expresses in his final words, these children were never allowed to have a normal life because of him. If the narrative is about the evils of using child soldiers on both sides, both the Scouting Corps and Marleyans, then it would make sense that every single character is portrayed as either a child unable to grow up or an adult that has continually failed them.
What we are being shown is every major character with an arc struggling with being unable to truly grow past who they were as children. Even when given the oppurtunity to grow, they falter with it, because they are child soldiers stunted by their trauma and that’s not an easy thing to overcome. Rather than a straight line we’re shown a circular process. Gabi and Falco are the only characters being shown with fully straight line arcs, but they are also far simpler than the other characters because they are children, and not stunted adults acting like children. Armin is passive, day dreaming, indecisive like he was when he was a child. Mikasa is overly attached to Eren like she was when she was a child. Heck, even Connie’s major flawed decision this arc is wanting his mother to return. Whcih is a symbol of wanting to return to the safety of childhood that he was suddenly and abruptly cut off from.
Okay, that was a long tangent but I hope I have made my point on what I mean by regression. Eren and Historia are paralleled with each other because they more than anyone else, are regressing to their childhood selves. Where we see at least hints of progress with other characters (Armin, MIkasa, Jean) indication that they will eventually rise to the responsibility of adulthood we see only stagnation for these two characters. It’s because once again Eren and Historia are incredibly similiar as people. Heck, even the fact that they’re regressing the most is paralleled. The same chapter in which Eren declares he’s using the child Ymir’s power to destroy the world, we’re shown a flashback of Historia first and foremost.
Eren empathizes with little girl Ymir, and Historia was told as a child that she should learn to be like Ymir, always kind and always putting others first. They both see themselves in Ymir and it symbolizes why they are connected, because deep down they are both that powerless little child.
There are two big connections between Eren and Historia immediately. Number one is that the inciting incident of their trauma is the same. Yes, Historia grew up in a household where she was eteranlly bullied and belittled where Eren grew up fairly love and secured but they both suffer from the same traumatic incident.
A titan suddenly killed the person who was the symbol of unconditional love and security in their lives, for Eren it was his mother, and for Historia her older sister. In a situaiton where they were completely powerless, they watched a titan kill their security and destroy their home and are rendered homeless children after that point. They both join the titan corps as a way of survival. The reason that Eren is shown encouraging his father to pull the trigger and completely eliminate the Reiss family, is because narratively these two events are supposed to be connected. They’re narrative parallels. Eren suffered the loss of his mother which is the root of his trauma, and then has a hand in inflicting that same trauma on Historia.
They are two people connected by the nature of their worst trauma and what it did to them. Every time they try to progress as people, they instead regress because what happened then was so fundamanetally damaging it robbed them of the ability to be able to grow up. They will never feel like they have the security that children need in order to grow into adults.
Historia and Eren are mirror images even in their lives. Eren is an ordinary child given an ordinary childhood. Historia was marked as different from birth and raised as a special person. However, they ended up in relatively the same position. They both regress. The nature of Eren’s regression should be obvious because he’s trying to destroy the world. In essence Eren has remained the same character all throughout, his primary goal was to kill all the titans beyond the walls, it’s just his target that has changed.
So, let’s focus instead of how Historia has regressed. I will say before I begin though that Eren and Historia regress as opposites. Eren will always choose to be active, even if it means stealing agency from others. Historia will always choose to be passive, even if she has power over others. When they are pushed into a corner by circumstances they fall back on their worst habits and that’s why we see them regress. Externally, they have different mechanisms to handle it. Eren steals agency, Historia gives up agency. Internally, it’s practically for the same reason, because whatever security they have is continually ripped away from them leaving them unable to grow as people.
So what is Historia’s regression? Basically Historia, like Eren is lacking of a sense of self. Historia has no consistency deep down to show who she is. Even with most of the other characters as childish as they can be have this, Mikasa is overprotective and likes family, Armin is a dreamer who wants to explore the world, Annie is self centered and wants a peaceful life. Eren even comments about this in regards to himself when comparing himself to Eren. Eren centers himself around violence, war, and his hatred. Armin has something else besides fighting, in order to build himself around. Therefore, Eren considers himself lacking as a person in comparison to Armin. Who would Eren be if he wasn’t trying to destroy all the titans? That’s a difficult question to answer.
Historia is much the same way. Historia builds herself and her self of identity around the roles that other people ask her to play. The little girl Ymir is kind because she always did what others ask of her. Historia is always performing some role for the sake of everybody around her.
I wouldn’t say that Historia’s arc in Uprising ends on a triumphant note, but rather an ambiguous one. The arcs aren’t lines, they’re circular. Historia even questions herself if she’s moving for the sake of herself or others.
Here is how I see uprising. Your interpretation might differ. Historia steps out of the role of Krista. Historia, tries to be herself for a moment. At the end of the arc, rather than true liberation Historia chooses to step back into the role of queen. The only slight progress made is that she doesn’t entirely listen to Erwin’s orders. However, even her act of slaying a titan within the wall was a pre-planend action, a performance. It’s just one Historia altered slightly to give herself a more centered role.
If Historia is not someone moving to help others than who is she? We know she’s spunky, angry, etc. etc. but as a character she hasn’t really developed goals or wants and needs outside of that. We continually see her on the brink of that point, but never quite crossing the line.
Eren and Historia are at the center of their existence very performative people. The reason nobody quite understands Eren is that he’s always putting on an act around other people.
Eren and HIstoria even doubt the same things in chapter 68. That is to say, they doubt themselves. They doubt if they are really truly people who are capable of moving for themselves. Eren sees himself as someone who has nothing special about him, and therefore doesn’t matter. Deep down he’s always viewed himself as a weak and pathetic person. Historia doesn’t think she’s capable of making decisions for herself. It’s because they’ve been continually made to feel helpless all of their lives, that they doubt themselves to this degree.
Their response to this is to perform for everyody else around them. Eren si continually performing as this super strong, determined child ready to fight the whole world. Whereas, Historia is performing in the roles that other people give her. She is Krista Lenz. She is the queen Historia Reiss. She is, always, always, always, what other people need her to be. Whereas, Eren performs what he wants to be, which is powerful.
When Historia and Eren break down it is shown just how deeply similiar they are inside. They become what they continually are made to feel like, helpless children. Eren is constantly boasting about how he is going to kill all the titans, and yet deep down he’s always believed that he was all talk and that for him there was nothing behind those words.
It’s the same for Historia just in an opposite direction. Historia is constantly talking about helping people, but deep down she doesn’t see herself as a genuinely altruistic person. Not only does she see herself as helpless (therefore incapable of helping people because she can’t help herself) but she sees her motivations for helping people as selfish.
In the Uprising arc we even see this parallel. I mean I know many people interpret this as Historia’s big moment of independence, which is also a valid interpretation. I’m just giving you my interpretation. I also see this as Historia having a massive mental breakdown in the middle of a crisis moment. When they are pushed to their absolute limits and they can no longer pretend, Historia and Eren both break down and we see what they view themselves as. Eren sees himself as a crying and begging child insignificant, unpowerful, and helpless. Historia sees herself as a selfish child and a bad person. This is also something that reflects their upbringing. Historia was continually made to feel selfish due to being an abused bastard, for wanting even the most basic necessities a child needs like love and security. Eren had his security ripped away suddenly when his mother died and he was at the time, a helpless, crying child only able to watch.
When Eren breaks down he says the same thing always. Nothing has changed from back then. Nothing has changed from when I saw my mother died. When Historia breaks down she says she can’t live up to the expectations of other people around her.
Eren and Historia both see themselves as fundamentally unable to change from who they were as children, and that’s why we see them regressing to their most childlike selves here in this final arc.
2. What is the point of Uprising Arc, then?
I know I read uprising differently from most of the people on this site. However, I’m not saying that Historia didn’t grow in Uprising at all, or even that she doesn’t have a chance to grow. Honestly, I think Uprising does a good job at portraying the complexity of Historia’s character and why it’s really, really hard for her to grow in a straightforward manner. She’s not really the heroine of the story where she defeats the bad guy, and then overcomes her flaw in a dramatic fashion at the end of the arc.
Okay, so I’m going to try to address how Historia’s arc is still... you know, an arc, even though it doesn’t continue on in a straightforward fashion from Uprising. Uprising isn’t pointless because it shows us the great depth and complexity of HIstoria’s character, and also establishes why it is so hard for her to change. It’s not a straightforward arc, more of a dig into her psyche. Historia steps out of the role, Historia tries to be true self for a moment, Historia steps into another role at the end of the arc. It may seem pointless to read it this way, but I’m going to try to dig in from this point forward to show the complexity that this demonstrates.
So, like I said Historia is a character who lacks a sense of self. The reason that Eren perceives this of her so strongly that it’s what forges their friendship in this arc is because Eren is the same way.
Eren picks up on the fact that Historia was always striving to meet the expectations of everyone around her, because Eren is very much the same person. The kill all the titans thing is an act. Everyone around him believes it to such an extent that not a single person, even his closest childhood friends understood him enough until it was too late.
Eren also tells Historia he sees her as a normal girl, because it’s who Eren wants to be accepted as, but feels like he never can be. Before I go into uprising itself there’s the big inciting events for both of them that lead into where their characters are in the lead up to Uprising.
Eren and Historia both have a moment with their respective love interests in the prelude to this arc. Historia begs Ymir to come back with her so they can both live on as themselves. Mikasa tells Eren that he doesn’t need to be able to defeat titans, that what he did for her was showing her the small kindness of wrapping her scarf around him that day was enough for her.
It’s Mikasa and Historia who reach out, but Ymir and Eren both refuse that closeness. Eren chooses to fight, and Ymir chooses to sacrifice herself to Reiner and Bertolt.
I know a lot of people take issue with this writing choice, but sorry this post isn’t about the quality of the writing, just how it all comes together in the big picture. The point is, Historia and Eren are both offered what they have always wanted which is to live as themselves with a person who loves them for who they are only for it to get them taken away.
There’s also an interesting irony written in Ymir’s death. Historia has always idealized the path of a martyr. She always thought living a good, selfless, altruistic life is what would earn her the love of her sister.
Part of the problem is, the only source of love both Eren and Historia has was taken away so suddenly. Historia got the idea in her head, that all love was conditional and she had to act good in order to earn that love because love was never freely given to her. So Historia’s martyr act is a way to earn love. However, Ymir’s choice inflicts upon Historia the pain other people feel when she decides to martyr herself.
The path of the martyr isn’t a good one, it’s thorny, and wracked with pain. What Ymir does is a genuine act of altruism. She makes a choice out of sympathy for both Reiner and Bertolt who have suffered all their lives just like her, and also a belief her sacrifice will buy something for HIstoria in the bigger picture. It’s at least partially an altruistic decision, and Historia’s not happy about it at all, she’s downright bitter. Because, Historia isn’t the altruist deep down inside she pretends to be. Historia idealizes self sacrifice and selflessness, but when faced with the harsh reality and consequences of such behavior she realizes this is not what she wants.
Ymir’s death throws the narrative Historia has always held onto into question, because she’s now the victim of somebody else’s self sacrifice. By killing herself, Ymir has also deprived Historia of her place in the world. Which sends her into self doubt. This moment of reflection is once again where we see the real Historia.
Eren calls out the fact that Historia is actually very selfish. When she’s not performing goodness, most of her worries and actions are centered around herself. Everyone is out risking her lives, and Historia is kind of busy like “Who am I? Why won’t people love me for the real me?” These questions are selfish because they are focused and centered around the self. Historia is, egocentric in the way a child is, and the way that Eren is, because she doesn’t have a fully developed self.
Uprising is where we’re shown very clearly that rather than having a centralized sense of self, a goal to focus herself around, all of these things normal characters have Historia is someone who wildly swings between two.
Historia is indecisive on whether or not Krista or Historia constitutes the real her. There is the act that Historia portrays on the surface as someone who always worries about others, and then her history (Gosh, golly gee I wonder why her real name is Historia... obvious symbolism is obvious). The question for HIstoria is which one she should let efine her, is she defined by the trauma she accumulated by being born into this world, or the person she wants to be. Historia’s failure to reconcile herself between the two extremes is what results in her behavior, as swinging back and forth between both.
I don’t believe that the point of uprising is to show Historia finally reconciling these two, but rather to show her wildly swinging between the two. HIstoria is someone who wildly swings between great feats of selfishness and selflessness.
We are given several hints of Historia’s progress in this arc, but also several unhealthy signs of her back sliding. For exmaple there’s the scene where Levi infamously bullies Historia into calling herself the queen. One this scene fundamentally demosntrates what Historia’s problem is, she can’t make decisions or act for herself because she doesn’t really know what she wants.
And when Levi beats her up and pushes her, she decides to perform again. Now the question is if you see the final climactic scene of Uprising as her triumphantly overcoming this cycle or falling back into it. My interpretation is that it portrays the swinging between.
HIstoria, confronted with the feelings of insecurity she’s had since childhood unable to feel consistently loved or that she was even worthy of love is about to fall back on her mechanism of total and complete selflessness. Believing that her self sacrifice will at least mean she was a good person that meant something to the world, that her self sacrifice will earn her something. The reason that Eren yells I’M NOT NECESSARY is it’s because what their trauma made them feel like, and deep down what they’re afraid of hearing.
Historia first appears entirely passive and selfless, then she takes an active role and screams she’s the worst girl on earth and she’d rather let the whole world die than sacrifice one person. Her response isn’t to reconcile these two entirely divergent selves, but rather we’re being shown her flipping between them.
Historia declares one moment she doesn’t care about the rest of the world they can all die, and the next moment she says that if there’s a crying child she will always help. What we see is not a reconciliation so much but rather a flipping between, because it’s Historia’s tendency to swing back and forth between the two.
Here’s my defense of my point. Uprising ends on an ambiguous note. As I’ve said above uprising doesn’t end on Historia becoming her full realized self, but rather wondering if she’s become her full realized self.
Not only that but everything that seems like it was forward progress initially in uprising becomes undone later. Erwin is freed in Uprising, Erwin dies the next arc. Eren says he doesn’t need to become a special person to change the world, Eren is back on his bullshit by the time skip. The uprising puts the good guys in charge of the government and so now the government is no longer an obstacle to the path of saving humanity. The Jaegerists come take over in a second uprising, and the government becomes an obstacle once more. Even the decision they made to never feed Historia to a titan in order to sacrifice the world, is something the main characters go back on as they debate on whether or not to have her eat Zeke. Everything that seems like it’s forward progress becomes undone.
So why would Historia’s arc not become undone, too? This isn’t a question of quality of the writing. If you think this is a bad writing decisoin you’re completely valid I just am trying to remind you this isn’t the place to have that discussion. The deicsion to regress however, portrays the conflicts the characters are dealing with as cyclical ones. My argument is that as a whole Attack on Titan is being written as a cyclical story where characters circle.
Eren and Historia are just the two biggest contenders of this regression. Which is why we see them conspiring together in this the final arc. (Yes there is a problem with Historia being mainly offscreened) however narratively the decisions we are shown Historia making in this arc are all passive ones. Also ones meant to pacify the people around her.
Eren will always choose to be the activest character he possibly can, and to take agency even if it means stealing it from others. Historia will always choose to be passive, and will give up agency even if it means people steal things away from her.
We are kept mostly out of Historia’s head. We are also kept mostly out of Eren’s head. What we are being shown recently though is a continuation of what we witnessed in uprising. Uprising ended with the question of if Historia is Krista Lenz, or Historia Reiss unresolved.
This scene is Eren browbeating Historia into submission so she’ll go along with this plan. However, for HIstoria it’s also a confrontation with both sides of herself that she has shown to other people. Eren is basically telling HIstoria there are two wildly different hers, there is the Historia who would sacrifice herself, and the Historia who would say fuck the entire world she’s not sacrificing herself even if it makes herself the enemy of humanity.
My argument is that the story has gone to great length to portray that to some extent, both of these HIstorias are real. Historia is someone who swings between wild feats of selfness and selfishness. Historia can say both of these things and mean them, that she wants to sacrifice herself for the sake of the world, fuck the world she wants to be herself.
The same way Eren can imprison his friends, tell Mikasa she’s a slave, tell Armin he’s useless and that he’s despised both of them always, and also believes that he’s doing all of this for the love of his friends. Eren can say both and mean both, because he also does this inconsistent swinging back and forth.
The foiling between the two of them shows how utterly broken Eren and Historia are as people due to the neglect they faced as children. It’s not actually a question of whether they are good or bad people. (Though Eren, is a jerk). It’s to show how unhealthy these mechanisms are. They mechanisms they rely on to survive, do not allow them to grow or develop all the way as people so they remain stunted. Historia is still in an incredibly unhealthy and precarious position in regards to her identity. Eren’s mechanism is to take agency, Historia’s is to give it up, the result however is the same between the both of them.
We see Historia make a choice. In all fairness we don’t know what that choice is. However, we also know what she didn’t choose. She knew what Eren was going to run off and do, and what he was planning, and she didn’t stop him.
Another important part of the final arc is showing how everybody else’s decisions also led to Eren doing what he did. Armin’s choice to never confront Eren’s real self turned him into Eren’s enabler. Mikasa’s inability to try to live without Eren, made her completely unable to see this coming. The scout corps in general was unable to stop Eren, because they didn’t understand him. Historia also made a choice to enable the situation to happen in some way, because she didn’t choose to just... tell somebody else what Eren was planning, or stop it.
While yes, she may be trying to stop it all on her own. It’s still a choice she made that’s frighteningly similiar to the choices Eren has been making all along. That is the choice not to trust people, the choice not to openly communicate what she inteded, the choice to instead go off on her own and try to solve everything by herself.
That’s also the choice she always makes when backed up against a wall, and therefore it’s a sign of regression. I don’t think Historia is conspiring with Eren or even agrees with him. However, I do think she has made a similiar choice as Eren which is to try and attempt to solve everything on her own without trusting the others which is why we’re seeing her get so much foiling with Eren in this the final arc.
Historia will overcome this regression when rather than swinging between Historia Reiss, and Krista Lenz, that she is both, and always has been both. You are who you are deep down inside. You are also who you pretend to be. The choice to show Historia’s wavering between makes her arc longer, difficult, more frustrating, but it also shows how hard it is for Historia.
It shows the struggle of someone like Historia with lifelong trauma. How hard it is for her, not to be a queen, or a good girl. How fundamentally, it’s difficult for her to even juts be a normal person. And how in the end that’s what she is fighting for, to rediscover herself as a normal girl once more after being denied that by the environment around her her entire life. Historia too, can be a normal girl in the face of all that trauma.

people are worrying for gabi and reiner and literally every other character but, as always, am VERY worried for falco "babie" grice over here. he's gonna wake up, find out that his brother is dead and he ate galliard, see that the rumbling is happening, and he's just gonna be VERY traumatized. i swear i'd be genuinely surprised if he didn't end up as depressed as reiner by the end of AOT. poor fucking falco i just wanna adopt him lajsdnfljnsaljfdn
Same here...I don’t want him to have to wake up to all this chaos. Also, I’m worried about Gabi, obviously she was in some trouble at the end of the chapter and it makes me wonder what could happen if she does get hurt or possibly die? Of course, I don’t want that to happen, but I’m curious as to how it would affect Falco... At least he told Gabi how he felt about her...? Hahah.... ;___;

My shit fanfiction to celebrate SSBU
I’m back with a crackfic. It involves Marth getting angry at Roy for not sucking in Ultimate. Also, subscribe to Pewdiepie.
When Marth first joined Smash Bros back in the good old Melee days, he didn't really think much of it at all. He thought it would just be tournaments and boring shit. But it ended up being pretty fun and he made lots of friends. He became BFFs with Roy since they were the only ones capable of speaking Japanese which was pretty shocking to them seeing as how Fox, Falco and Ness had pretty thick Japanese accents.
The duo eventually learned how to speak English but Master Hand said they weren't allowed to speak English during matches. No one knew why Master Hand decided that but most people assumed it was because he was too lazy to explain why they weren't speaking Japanese anymore. Marth and Roy didn't seem to mind that much since it let them beat opposing teams with ease.
Marth would spend most of his time hanging out with Roy and Link who were way shorter than him. He had never been a tall person, but hanging out with shorter people that weren't girls felt pretty satisfying. It was so satisfying that Marth ended up developing a huge ego because of it.
People say that Smash Bros can heavily alter your personality for some unknown reason. The fighters always insist that's not the case. But Marth's living proof of how bad it can affect you.
Despite becoming a huge asshole, Marth still managed to remain best friends with an overly energetic pyromaniac redhead and a blond idiot who enjoyed talking too much outside of matches. The trio had stupid adventures together, they managed to blow up the kitchen, they traumatized Young Link… They basically had a shit ton of fun together.
However, everything changed once Master Hand decided to make a new tournament called Brawl. Because of the size of the mansion, he had to kick out some fighters (all though rumor has it Pichu evolved and killed Pikachu).
Roy had to leave to go to war or something. His dad was sick and his mom had gotten hired as an assist trophy for Brawl, so this only left Roy to lead the army.
Link had to go save Hyrule and was replaced by another Link that was living proof he had gotten laid. The new Link was slightly shorter and more sarcastic than the old one. He was also hotter and there were rumors about him secretly being a furry.
Marth got to stay much to his disappointment and noticed some changes within himself. Of course, he was completely oblivious to the fact that his personality had completely changed. The biggest change he noticed was that he looked prettier. That was only natural of course, he was Marth Lowell, he was prettier and hotter than everyone else.
Marth managed to become friends with the new Link despite the fact that they hated each other and argued all the time. New Link also introduced Marth to his new friends, Pit and Ike. Marth would have introduced himself normally but Master Hand insisted that Marth had to speak Japanese as to not confuse the newcomers.
That didn't quite work out because new Link didn't understand Japanese so he couldn't explain why Pit and Ike got kicked in the face when they called Marth "Miss". Nevertheless, the four men ended up hanging out the whole time. Marth even managed to become best friends with Ike, but that's 'cause they never talked to each other, so they never got pissed off at each other. But to be honest, anything was better than being Link or Pit's best friends. Those midgets were completely insane.
When the new tournament that Master Hand lazily named 4 was about to start, Marth noticed he had changed. The climate had changed his hair color and it was now a different shade of blue. Not that it mattered because he looked prettier.
Among Marth's small group of best friends, Ike was the only one to go through any big changes. The guy had gotten really buff and made his friends look like midgets. Marth thought he looked like one of those ugly bara guys from yaoi manga, not that he had ever read a yaoi manga. He just knew that because of memes.
It was in this new tournament that Marth learned that he had descendants. He was pretty sure those descendants were descendants of another Marth in another universe because there was no way he'd ever leave Smash Bros. He did not want to return to a world where iPhones and showers didn't exist. He also didn't want to live in Altea knowing that there would be no technological advances in the future. He was used to dealing with bullshit, he hung out with Link after all, but that was way too much for even him to handle.
The tournament was being pretty normal like always until the hands decided to announce that more people were going to be joining. Marth honestly couldn't care less about the newcomers but because of his position as a veteran, he was obliged to greet them.
He unenthusiastically greeted Mewtwo, Lucas and Ryu and was about to leave until Link told him he hadn't greeted someone. Marth reluctantly followed Link towards where the last newcomer was. Marth saw a redhead speaking with some other people and was in complete disbelief. There was no way he was back, right? It was all just a dream.
The redhead turned around and smiled when he saw Marth. Marth smiled back and ran towards him. He jumped into the slightly shorter redhead's arms and hugged him as he cried with tears of joy.
"I missed you so much, Roy," the prince sobbed not caring that everyone else was staring, "I'm so glad you're back… Please don't leave me again."
"I won't leave ever again," Roy said as he hugged Marth.
The two BFFs were finally reunited.
Except that's not what actually happened. That was just Roy's fantasy.
The redhead turned around and smiled when he saw Marth. Marth smiled back and ran towards him. Roy also ran and the two separated friends hugged each other.
"What did I miss?" the short redhead asked.
"Not much," Marth replied.
"Did you prank Master Hand and Crazy Hand?"
"Well, someone had to keep your legacy going. Of course, I was the only one qualified to do that."
"Guess it's time to prepare the best one ever."
"Like in the old days?"
"Like in the old days!"
The two BFFs were finally reunited.
Except that didn't happen either. That was just Marth's fantasy.
The redhead turned around and smiled when he saw Marth. Marth smiled back and ran towards him. He was about to jump into Roy's arms but he noticed something wrong. Something very wrong. Something so wrong it made Marth question if going through depression after losing his BFF was really worth it.
"Roy, are you taller than me?"
It took Marth about an hour and lots of yelling to accept the fact that Roy was now the taller one. Neither he nor Roy had ever expected this to happen. Roy had always looked up to Marth and always expected him to be taller than him, and Marth had forgotten that growing up was a thing.
But now, Marth was faced with a new problem. During Roy's absence, he had become best friends with Ike out of convenience more than anything. He didn't expect Roy to ever return and so he hadn't planned on how to explain anything to his two friends.
He was sure the two would hate each other. They didn't have anything in common besides having headbands, a growth spurt and finding mages cool. Marth was having a mental breakdown thinking about what would happen if the two ever met.
Everyone stared at the prince but didn't think anything, Marth having mental breakdowns was something normal in the Smash Mansion. Master Hand had even made it mandatory for veterans to explain to newcomers that Marth having a mental breakdown was nothing to be worried about.
One mental breakdown later, Marth had a plan. Now that Roy was back, he wasn't the best planner of his friend group anymore, but that didn't matter, because unlike Link, Pit and Ike, he could at least plan shit. Emphasis on the shit.
He was about to set his plan in motion when he saw Roy and Ike speaking. Marth was mentally screaming, his plan had been ruined before it even started.
He calmed himself down and walked towards his two friends. He attempted to hide his death glare but to no avail. His two friends didn't know what was pissing Marth off and were getting worried.
"Marth, are you alright?" Ike asked.
"If it's about the height thing, I'll apologize again," Roy added.
"Did the height thing really piss him off?"
"Yeah… We ended up arguing for an hour. Felt like the good old days."
"And here, I thought Marth and Link were bad… Those two argue at least for half an hour every day."
"Really? I guess Marth needed to make up for all the arguing he was missing."
"Well, it only started getting that bad at the start of this tournament. He seemed depressed during Brawl."
"Poor Marth, he must miss his home. That must be why he wears his tiara all the time!"
"I thought he was just girly."
"That too."
Marth stared at his two friends with shock. They hadn't even known each other for a day and they were already getting along like they were best friends. Heck, they were already shitting on him. This pissed off Marth even more, they were supposed to be his best friends, not each other's.
Marth ended up having to go to Mewtwo's anger management class after threatening to set Roy and Ike on fire. No one was allowed to question why Mewtwo was in charge of that class, all the fighters knew was that Crazy Hand had come up with the idea and the class somehow worked. Most people assumed the classes were just brainwashing sessions since everyone who attended reported being bored or asleep during the whole class.
By the time the Ultimate tournament had finished being planned, the stupid friendship problems had been solved.
Marth happily walked down the hallway with a paper in his hand. He was really excited to show the paper to Roy. The redhead might now be taller and hotter than him, but at least he didn't have the right to speak English during-
"No, way!" Roy smiled as he ran towards his best friend with a paper in his hand, "You're allowed to speak English too? This is awesome! Now we can finally team up with more people than just Cloud!"
"Oh, is that so?"
"Yeah! All though, poor Cloud… Master Hand won't let him speak English despite him being completely fluent in it."
"Is that all you want to tell me?"
"No, there's more. You know how Master Hand is letting us be the personal trainers of certain fighters?"
"Yeah, like me training Lucina. What about it?"
"Master Hand made me Chrom's personal trainer! Ike also helps out from time to time."
"Oh, for fuck's sake!" Marth shouted instantly ruining all of his anger management class's progress.
Roy didn't know why Marth was so angry. Maybe he hated Chrom? Maybe he was tired of having to deal with his ancestors? Maybe he didn't like the idea of having to see Chrom and Robin make out all the time? Roy had absolutely no idea what was pissing off the blue-haired prince.
Marth excused himself to go to the bathroom. He locked the door and looked at himself in the mirror. He was the most beautiful he had ever been. That was the problem, he was getting girlier with age. Roy had gotten buffer and stronger. While he wasn't the best fighter of the lot, he kept improving with all his training. Marth, on the other hand, was doing worse with every tournament. He had been among the top 3 during Melee, he was always among the top 10 in Brawl, but in 4, he only managed to be in the top 10 once.
He couldn't stay angry at Roy forever. He needed to do something about this. So, swallowing all of his pride, he asked Roy a question he had never wanted to ask.
"C-can I train with you?"
"Like a training match?"
"N-no… Actual training, like working out and stuff."
If Roy hadn't been so used to Marth always being weird, he would have called Mewtwo or a psychologist. Heck, he might have even warned everyone about an upcoming apocalypse.
Marth and Roy went to the training room where they met up with Ike. They worked hard to come up with a plan. After an hour of planning, Roy managed to create a training schedule that worked for everyone.
The trio decided to not waste any time and they got down to business. The first thing to do was warm-ups. This meant a hundred push-ups, something that should be easy for well-trained men.
Ike had no trouble finishing his push-ups since he was basically a walking pile of muscle. Roy finished soon after. Marth was the only one left. He never did push-ups, why would he need to do them?
Marth was about to rant but decided against it when he noticed he was being glared at. He did his best to do more push-ups and after complaining and suffering for what appeared to be an eternity, he had finished.
Marth collapsed and sighed in relief, he was finally done with the stupid push-ups. The next warm-up exercise was a hundred sit-ups. Marth had always found sit-ups to be pretty easy despite not having done any for over a year.
The prince learned the hard way that slacking off on sit-ups was a pretty bad idea. He had done about ten before realizing he was doing the exercise wrong and hurting his neck. Marth couldn't remember how he was supposed to do sit-ups and he couldn't look at what Roy and Ike were doing because they had already finished. Marth was left with no option but to continue the exercise even though he wasn't even doing it correctly.
Luckily for Marth's neck, his friends noticed he was doing the exercise wrong and showed him how to do it right. However, there a new problem arose: doing sit-ups quickly really hurts, like a lot. So after another eternity of pain, Marth collapsed.
After a morning filled with Marth suffering and his friends doing practically nothing, it was Ike's favorite time of the day, lunchtime.
The cafeteria was pretty empty since some of the fighters had left for a quick vacation.
After getting their food, the trio sat at their unusually empty table. Ike devoured his meat without a care in the world. Why he didn't have an ending with meat in Radiant Dawn was beyond anyone.
"Marth, don't you ever grow tired of eating salad every day?" Ike asked.
"Don't you ever grow tired of eating meat every day? It's not even that good for you."
"Well, unless I won the genetic lottery, I'm proof that it's better than salad."
"I think we're going to have to work on your diet," Roy told Marth, "You barely eat anything, that's not good for you. And whenever you eat, it's something that's mostly water with little to no nutritional value."
"What are you talking about!?" Marth snapped, "Salad's good for you!"
"So, how come you're completely out of shape now?"
"What!? I'm perfectly healthy! I'm just rusty."
"Marth, you're at your absolute worst right now. You used to be a complete badass back in Melee. Now you're all insane and girly."
"Speaking of Melee, you're making me miss your old-self. He didn't act like he was the voice of reason in every argument."
"You're the one starting all of our arguments!"
"And I wouldn't start them if you didn't make me start them!"
Ike quietly took his food and walked towards Kirby's table. He had no interest in having his meal ruined by Marth and Roy's obligatory daily argument. Ike ate with Kirby and the two happily ignored the smell of smoke as they ate their food.
The mercenary noticed he didn't have any sauce left and got up ready to get more. He didn't get far because the cafeteria was on fire. Ike went back to the table, sat down feeling grumpy and waited for somebody to come and save him.
'Kirby must be so lucky having sane friends,' Ike thought as he looked at the pink puff.
'I wish I had cool insane friends,' Kirby thought as he stared at the fire with fascination.
It took thirty minutes for somebody to come and save them because Crazy Hand had turned off all the fire alarms because he was tired of hearing the ringing sound every day.
Kirby was taking a nap on Ike's lap as the blue-haired teenager tried to sleep through a bunch of arguments. Seriously, why did he have to attend the hands' meeting with his crazy friends? He wasn't the one who set the cafeteria on fire.
"We've had enough of your petty arguments," Master Hand groaned, "We've let them slide for way too long."
"Actually, I find them to be pretty cute," Crazy Hand admitted, "You don't get many people who regularly set the mansion on fire for stupid reasons."
"Crazy! Don't you know how much money we've lost because of their fights!? We won't be able to afford reconstructions with over 70 fighters to take care of!"
"We can make a reality show to make more money! Or we could organize promotional mini-tournaments!"
"Good idea!" Master Hand paused to think for a moment, "Who should we choose for the tournaments?"
"Roy, I want you to participate in the tournaments."
"Me?" the redhead gasped, "Why?"
"I've got a good feeling about you participating."
Roy and some other fighters ended up leaving for a week to compete in promotional tournaments. Roy being absent from the mansion meant that Marth didn't have to train because Ike was not going through the horror that is training Marth by himself and to be honest he really didn't care about Marth's training. Link had offered to help, but everyone was sure he just wanted to blackmail Marth. Link never helped Marth out of the kindness of his heart unless it was something really really really serious.
The week at the mansion was really uneventful. It didn't help that Kirby was in charge and all he cared about was getting food. He had even turned off the WiFi so that people wouldn't get distracted. This meant that no one could watch the tournaments because the 3G and 4G were absolute shit in the area.
Marth was hanging out in the entrance hall with Link, Ike and Pit playing a boring game of UNO. He was about to win but a gust of wind had blown his good cards away which got mixed up with Pit's bad cards. They randomly chose cards and Pit ended up getting the best ones thus leading him to victory.
The Altean was pretty pissed off by his loss, he was about to storm out of the mansion but the door was slammed into him. He ended up falling on top of Link who had been planning on pushing Marth.
"We're back!" Crazy Hand announced full of glee as all the other fighters made their way in.
"Hey, guys!" Roy greeted his friends on the floor, "What did I miss?"
"Me winning at UNO!" Pit cheered.
"Not having WiFi," Link answered.
"So, how did the tournament go?" Marth asked, "We didn't get to see it."
"It went..." Roy started as he took out two objects from his suitcase, "Great!"
Marth stared at the two gold trophies with disbelief. They both had a red ribbon with "Winner" written on it. Marth had to be dreaming, there was no way Roy would win a tournament, let alone two. Roy, win and tournament did not belong in the same sentence.
"Are you done staring at your reflection?" Roy asked his best friend.
"Yes..."
Marth rushed to the toilets and his friends just stared blankly at the space where Marth once stood.
"He's so proud of you that he's gone to cry in the bathroom," Ike told Roy, "He must be too embarrassed to tell you."
"W-what!? That doesn't sound like Marth at all! He never thinks anything nice about me."
It took all of Marth's will for him to not punch the mirror. He was completely pissed off, he wanted to beat someone up to get rid of his anger. This was the last straw. Roy was tall, cool, smart… And now he was a great fighter. He was everything Marth used to be back in the Melee days.
This made Marth feel like he had been betrayed, he always thought he'd be the best fighter of the two, but Roy was catching up just like he always did. Marth would never admit it, but he was envious of the redhead, everything seemed to be going in his favor.
The prince wanted to cry in frustration. He stared at his face on the mirror and remembered what he used to look like when he was younger. Those were the good old days…
Marth could have stayed in the bathroom reminiscing about the past, but he couldn't just sit around doing nothing. He might not be able to grow taller or get smarter, but he could still be a better fighter. It wasn't as though Roy was a better fighter than him, they hadn't fought for quite a while. But if Marth continued slacking off, there was no doubt that Roy would end up way better.
"And then my mom was all like "Eliwood! Don't call our son Ike, let Mark na-" Roy said before feeling someone pull his arm.
"We're going to go train," Marth announced as he dragged the redhead behind him.
"Sorry, I'll finish telling you guys the story later," Roy apologized.
The two swordsmen left leaving their friends in an awkward silence.
"Wow, Marth really wants Roy to be the best he's ever been," Ike noted only for Link to tell him that was definitely not the case.
Marth and Roy were standing in front of the training room trying to come up with an excuse for why they couldn't train Lucina and Chrom. They knew the two were waiting inside for a training session that would never come. But if Master Hand heard about Marth and Roy skipping a training session, he'd be furious and he was already on to them.
Luckily, Ike happened to walk by. He wanted to check on his friends to see what they were doing. In hindsight, it turned out to be a horrible idea.
The two shorter swordsmen had somehow convinced him into helping them train Chrom and Lucina. When they all entered the training room, Marth announced that Chrom and Lucina would be fighting against him and Roy in a few days and to make the training match more challenging, Chrom and Lucina would be training with Ike. Now Ike was stuck training Chrom and Lucina for the rest of the day. He really needed to get better friends to fight for.
Somehow, the excuse worked so well that when Master Hand heard about it, he thought it was a great idea and decided that Ike would train Chrom and Lucina for a week. This meant that Marth had one week to get back into shape and reclaim his position as the best swordsman in Smash Bros (which would now be even easier because Cloud had been banned from the training room by Crazy Hand).
Marth and Roy found an old empty training room and decided to train there. They spent their whole time practicing, working out and making sure to play FEH every thirty minutes. They trained so much that they accidentally skipped lunch (not that was abnormal for Marth).
By the end of the day, the two swordsmen were exhausted and lying on the floor taking a rest. They hadn't worked out so much in ages yet it felt like they had only trained for an hour. Time really did fly when you were busy.
"You think we'll be able to beat them next week?" Roy asked Marth.
"We will win. We've gotta show them we're the best."
"I guess, there's no way we'll lose with you on the team."
"Hey, did we eat lunch?"
"Shit, we skipped it! What time is it?"
"N-nine pm… The cafeteria closes in half an hour."
"If we save our showers for after dinner, we'll be able to get something to eat."
The two friends rushed to the cafeteria where they saw Ike eating a huge bowl full of meat. He seemed pretty pissed off so Marth and Roy decided to avoid him. They went to get their food which they only got after Marth yelled at Mario to give him exactly the same meal as Roy.
After dinner, the two argued for an hour over who got to take a shower first. By that time, Ike had already taken his and prepared himself to go to bed. Since he was not going to deal with his roommates' stupid arguing, he decided to stuff his ears with toilet paper. If there was one thing Ike loved almost as much as food, it was sleeping. Maybe he should tell Lucina and Chrom that napping was an effective way to train? They believed him when he said that if they ate his vegetables and gave him their meat, they'd get stronger.
The week continued that way. Marth and Roy would train the whole day, accidentally skipping lunch, while Ike contemplated his sanity the whole time. Master Hand was extremely satisfied with how things were going. It was the most peaceful week there had been in ages. Last time it was this peaceful was when he forced everyone to take vacations back in the first tournament.
Right before the epic fight, Marth and Roy were preparing their battle plan which consisted of tricking Chrom into running into a fully charged flare blade. That trick always worked on newcomers and people who didn't know Roy. But Chrom knew Roy since the redhead had trained him. However, Chrom wasn't known for his brains, so there was a pretty big chance he'd fall for that trick. Lucina had already fallen for it once, but she didn't inherit her mom's brain, so yeah. The plan was foolproof.
"You know, there's only one thing that could make this battle even cooler," Marth told his best friend.
Roy wasn't sure what Marth was talking about. How could there be anything cooler than a one-hit KO within the first few seconds of the match?
"Last Surprise from Persona 5 playing once Chrom gets knocked out!"
"But would we even be allowed to play Persona 5 music?"
"If the knockout happens, I'll gladly play it," a familiar voice said from behind.
"I-it's the announcer!" Marth gasped as he turned around to see the announcer, "What are you doing here? I thought you never showed yourself. And… Why are you hiding behind a cloak that conveniently makes your face pitch black?"
"I guess I can tell you since my true identity will soon be known to all."
The announcer took off the cloak and revealed his true form. He was a teenager with black hair and gray eyes that turned red for epic moments.
"You're Joker from Persona 5!" Marth yelled, "That's so cool!"
"N-no way!" Roy stuttered, "Joker has been the announcer all this time!"
"I'm also you in Japanese."
"No, I'm you in Japanese."
"Guys, the match is about to start!" Marth alerted his friends, "We've got to hurry! Joker, make sure Last Surprise plays no matter what!"
Marth and Roy headed to stage. Since they wanted an epic and fair battle against Chrom and Lucina, they had chosen to fight on final destination with no items (sadly no Fox, so they went with one stock only). Chrom and Lucina were really excited for their battle against their trainers who they didn't know were excited to beat the shit out of them.
When the match started, Roy immediately started charging the Binding Blade while Marth kept Lucina away. Chrom was going to attack Roy but then he saw Lucina being attacked by Marth and his dad instincts popped out.
Chrom tried attacking Marth, but Marth was two steps ahead and managed to dodge every attack. Marth knew it wouldn't be long until Roy had finished charging his attack. So, he grabbed Lucina and threw her in Roy's direction making sure that she went right above him.
Chrom's dad instincts meant he had to make sure Lucina didn't hurt herself, so he ran in Roy's direction. He was so focused on his daughter that he didn't notice that he was running straight into a trap.
By the time Chrom had noticed the trap, he was already flying through the air with lots of burns while Last Surprise played in the background. Now that he thought about it, the music really fit the situation. Not bad, he thought.
Lucina wasn't having nice thoughts though. She hadn't noticed it before, but Ike had been sitting holding a large panel with Link and Pit that said: "Go Marth and Roy!". She didn't know whether to think Ike was a dick or whether to think he was a nice guy for supporting his friends. But none of that matter, she was completely screwed.
The last thing she remembered from the match was seeing sadistic smiles on her two opponents. The Hero-King and his best friend really were huge assholes sometimes.
"We won!" Marth smiled, "We didn't even get any damage!"
"We've got to celebrate this! We should go eat in town with all our friends."
"Yeah! But before that… I want to tell you something..."
All right, this was it. Marth had to say one of the most embarrassing things he could say. Roy would probably lose all respect for him, but that didn't matter.
"T-thanks for helping me."
"Y-you're thanking me?"
"Y-yeah, you helped me see the light. I probably would have ended up sucking ass if you hadn't let me train with you."
"What!? Marth, you're one of the best fighters I know. I'm sure you would have managed to become great again regardless of my help. I'm nothing compared to you."
"Roy, you've improved so much since Melee. You aren't nothing compared to me."
"Yes, I am!"
"No, you're not!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
The duo ended up arguing for an hour like always. If you asked Master Hand, he'd tell you that they should just settle their differences with a fight on final destination. That was the whole point of the tournament, fighting.
Marth, Roy and their whole group of friends decided to have dinner at the best restaurant in town which had been recommended by Kirby. Everyone was chatting, having fun and enjoying the delicious food. The food was so good it made Pit cry.
"You know, I think I learned something today," Marth told Roy, "Me being jealous of you was pretty stupid."
"You, being jealous of me?" Roy smiled as he tried hiding his laughter, "I can see why it was stupid. I'm pretty shit."
"What!? That's not true! Why would I be jealous of shit? Anyways, I've thought about it. You're taller now and I guess that won't be changing."
"You were upset because I was taller than you?"
"Shut up! Now, where was I… Right! I have no reason being upset at you for being taller because in the end, there will always be someone shorter than me."
"Oh, I see where you're getting at. No matter what happens, Link will always be there to be shorter than us!"
Link glared at the two FE lords he called his friends. Oh, well… At least, Pit was there to be shorter than him.
Everyone walked home. Some were in a rush to get back home, weirdly Marth wasn't among them for once. He was enjoying a walk with his four closest friends despite the cold temperature outside.
"Do you guys think we'll always be best friends?" the blue-haired prince asked.
"Seeing as how we argue over everything, do the stupidest shit together and are all still friends, I think the answer is yes," Link answered.
"You don't think something will ever ruin our friendship?"
"Nothing could ruin us!" Pit cheered, "We're best friends till the end!"
"I can think of one thing," Ike admitted.
"Ike's right!" Roy agreed, "Only one thing could ruin our friendship. Is anyone here subscribed to T-Series?"
Complete silence.
"Good! We're all nine-year-olds with bonus years, right?"
"Of course, we are!" Marth yelled, "We watch Pewdiepie every day and do our part by threatening to kill random strangers if they don't subscribe to Pewdiepie!"
"So, there's nothing to be worried about. I guess you were wrong, Ike."
"Whatever," the mercenary, "Let's just go listen to Bitch Lasagna for an hour while eating dessert."
In the end, the five friends ended up doing just as Ike said. Although, Crazy Hand did join the group for an hour before being kicked out when Pit noticed there was a lasagna in the room.

Kind of a huge stretch, but what about Isayama killing off all the new warriors massacre style(or a battle where they're just SHREDDED)? I was just thinking about how he was once going to kill all the 104th & how he was giving them all stories & quirks to make us like them then devastate us & realized that he's just introduced a NEW cast of bright, young, likeable characters. Plus he has a thing for fucking with poor Reiner and traumatizing him specifically. I feel like it's gonna be a rough end
I’m not sure whether the new warriors will be killed one by one or at the same time.
When a character dies in SnK, they either die of pure irony or die too late when they started changing for the best or getting their hopes up. Eventually, their sacrifice is rendered meaningless and most of them are barred from their goals.
The only people at the back of my mind who got satisfaction from their deaths are Grisha and Kruger. If they didn’t get what they wanted at first, they count on their legacy to continue the work. From Marley alone, these characters die tragically and for nothing.
Fay: died because of Grisha when she told him she wanted to see the blimp. Her death was the “price to pay for freedom”.
Sgt. Gross: Fed Fay to his sons’ dogs for fun and died at the mercy of a titan, while having his own replica turned towards him by Kruger.
Dina: died trying to fulfill her last promise to Grisha and got killed as a result by a mob of titans orchestrated by her stepson.
Marcel: Orchestrated Reiner’s election into becoming the Armored Titan. Spilled the beans hours before his death and jumped in front of Ymir’s titan to protect the weakest of the group. His legacy wasn’t fulfilled and Porco got the Jaws, the only thing Marcel wanted to avoid.
Ymir: Couldn’t stay at Historia’s side and let her inner Jesus take over, which only delayed Bertolt’s demise for later. She surrendered despite claiming she’d only live for herself, wrote a letter for Historia and returned the jaw to Porco, supplying Marley with a lost titan power.
Bertolt: Only decided to act like a true warrior during the last and decisive battle on Paradis pre-timeskip only to lose and and be treated like disposable titan meat by his former friends.
You can also count Annie even though she’s not technically dead. Her freezing herself into a crystal fits with her theme of running away, contradicts her wish to return home, and she’d rather get stuck in a limbo instead of facing the SC. She’ll never see her father again as a result, despite pressing matters for it.
If all of the cadets die, nobody will carry on their legacy till the bitter end. A group of people leaves at least a survivor: Mike’s squad wasn’t killed at the same time, Hange’s squad neither. The only squad that got one-shot at the same time was Levi’s, and even then, it still left a survivor: Levi himself. Considering the dynamics the young cadets have here, killing them at the same time would only affect Reiner and Zeke (for Colt). Each of them have an individual character and that’s why I think the author is not going to kill them at once.
Killing Gabi would destroy the hopes of having a good warrior for Marley and destroy Falco’s personal ambition, making his purpose meaningless. Reiner would be deeply saddened about his cousin’s death, adding another person he wanted to protect in the grave. Killing Falco would sadden Colt and make the cadets realize they’re not safe. Maybe that’ll push Gabi to work harder. The difference is Gabi’s death being more impactful on the hopes of the warriors while Falco’s would be the first grim reminder.

Chapter 93 Thoughts.
Le writer is happy because this was such a good chapter.
I will be using Mangastream since it is on the point and Crunchyroll translation is not out yet. I will make corrections after I read Cruncyroll translation.
Ah, I am really living for chapters like this! Many things I learn, many things I crave. New info. Yay! To sum it up cursory, in this chapter we saw:
Isayama really did reversed the map, call it a brand new world and gave half of it Marley. Really, Marley is putting British, Mongols and Romans to shame while Alexander the Great is crying at background.
Marley is relying too much on Titan power, that is why they don’t have an advanced army and navy.
Mads Mikkelsen is their marshal.
Mid-East Union is now Fab-Kebab Union who lost the war but also got all the praises and that made Marley jealous.
Zeke can get even more interesting every month. He also has a Zekeret.
Marley is not aware that Zeke is royal blood. Bruh.
We found out how Zeke is able to control titans. With injecting his own spine fluid. Reasonable.
Cartman is actually a cartwoman and she stole my heart. Unlike roast master Galliard.
Reiner “I must protect the smol ones” Braun. Enough said.
The smol ones are also winning my heart more every chapter. Gabi, Falco, Udo and Zophia are 14 year old cutie pies.
Paradis is doing well, Paradis is doing great.
Ackermans are actually lab rats.
Ymir. Beautiful. Willful. Dead.
Le writer is wishing next month to be a Warrior chapter as well to get a Warrior volume and her chapter thoughts are under the cut.
This chapter was really focused to theme of how past actions are effecting to our present ones. How a step, an event, a mistake or a choice we made years ago can influence the present.
Marley defeated Eldia with their improved technology back in 100 years ago and now, even though they officially have won the war with Mid-East Empire, in long term, they have lost. Human mind manage to beat Titan magic once again.
Like Pixis being the voice of the reason at Chapter 90, Captain Magath took this role in this meeting and reminded the trouble Marley is in to Marshal Mads Mikkelsen. [ Btw yes, @erensjaegerbombs I was craving for someone like Magath, I am glad I got what I want. ]
They were once heroes that defeated Titans, now they are on the side Titans and are losing this war to humans, just like what happened at 100 years ago. What change is to humanity is just the name of that monster he needs to defeat, it was Eldia 100 years ago. It is Marley now. Like a circle that keeps repeat and repeat, whoever gets the power of Titans seems to be cursed but there is a reason why it is called curse of Ymir in the end.
Sending traumatic soldiers that survived to war to scare their motherland is not gonna work to scare those enemies anymore for Marley, this is just gonna make enemies more pissed. People will want to avenge this shame Marley is writing to their history with the force they got from Eldians.
There is a person that sits right next to Captain Magath because of his past actions in that meeting.
Zeke Mr. Key Jaeger.
He is sitting there thanks to Grisha and the betrayal he did to him. He has Marley’s full trust, he is Marley’s War-Chief and the owner of Beast Titan, he is admired by other Eldian cadets, he can speak and raise his voice to Marleyans and his opinions are being listened and do get approval. These are all the result of his betrayal to Grisha 22 years ago. And he seems to determined to put an end to everything that happened because of Grisha’s past actions. He has his owns, his own agenda. How he manages to get more and more interesting every chapter!
Another interesting thing about him was telling everything to Marley but the fact that he is royal blood. Marley was outsmarted by a 7 year old child.
Yeah Colt, it is not like Zeke has royal blood, right?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
He can read what Marley commanders like Marshal Mads Mikkelsen wants, more medals, more fame. He took the advantage of it and with the help of a good speech, Marley is turning their attention to Paradis and I am sure this is what he wants as well.
Paradis must be thanking Marley for those 32 ships they have sent. With Eren and Armin cooperating, they probably have some captives and more knowledge. Paradis is not an isolated small island full of ignorant people anymore. They have learnt how to fight. Things are different now.
Thanks to Zeke, we also get a little clue about what Ackermans actually are. They are successful lab rats. Like Marley making tests and experiments on Eldians in the present time; in the past when Eldia Empire was still existing, they also seem to done the same. And the result of these researches are the Ackerman Clan as we learn from Zeke. Mikasa and Levi are the living successful results of an achievement in the past.
And they are still hunting Reiner in his sleep.
Chapter 82.
Chapter 93.
Notice how the last “Wait!” line is same.
I am sure being beheaded by the Ackermans in the same day is a traumatic experience for Reiner, after all those years they are still in his nightmares and they are not alone. After all those years, Reiner is still suffering. He is still screaming to wait right before losing Bertolt. 4 years passed, nightmares stayed alongside with pain.
Then he wakes up next to a vengeful Galliard who blames him for his past mistakes and is probably roasting him everyday for them. Galliard appeared only in a few panels and in all of them he looked at Reiner with blaime and treated him like everything is his fault.
He is not opposing, because he thinks Galliard is right.
When titan trio, or should I say titan four, were travelling to the walls, Marcel becomes dinner for Ymir in order to save Reiner. Because of that trauma and the guilt, Reiner starts to pretend like he is Marcel, like he is the reliable big brother of the gang. So without seeing him, we got a picture of what kind of person Marcel was like before, the perfect onii-chan everybody is looking up to. That was the description of 104th Reiner, but what about real Reiner there? This chapter, we probably have witnessed the most genuine version of Reiner Braun, the real one. He is a mess, a lost cause, a traumatic cinnamon roll who fights with all the guilt he has. Yet, there is still a caring papa side of him, so we learn that not everything we saw about 104th Reiner was a lie. It is nice to see somethings hasn’t change with him after all these years.
Years change, people change, but somethings do stay same.
And sometimes, people who can’t change ends up in horrible ways.
Like Ymir.
The best line to describe Ymir might be said by Galliard, she was just a poor girl that was given a way too big name for her. Nothing more, nothing special. Just a kind hearted idiot. Just like she said to Reiner at the top of the walls in chapter 50.
Her time within the Walls was a stolen gift for her, yet she deserved this. She deserved all the time she spent with Historia, she deserved even more. What stopped her? No one but herself.
Ymir was like the slave of her own choices, she always had the chance to run away from this fate, yet she kept choosing it because of her kind heart, because of her mercy. She keep choosing the merciful options, not the ones that is gonna keep her alive and that caused her death. Twice.
Her last expression seems like she is dead already, so maybe it was better we haven’t see Ymir’s last moments. I am not saying her death was good handled but without revealing the biggest plot point, Isayama couldn’t have show us Ymir’s death, our characters haven’t reached the basement when she was eaten by Galliard. Yet, I can make a clear guess about what she is thinking. She was thinking about the beautiful thing she got thanks to her stolen chance. The one thing that brights her mind.
I am %200 sure this is what her mind is focused at that moment. Nothing more.
Ymir.
Beautiful.
Willful.
Dead.
I am gonna miss my girl even more. But does this mean her job is done here? Does this mean we are not gonna see her anymore? I don’t think so. Ymir lives through Galliard and most importantly, Historia. Ymir always wished to live just for herself but this was just a wish, something she never was able to manage. Just like us, in real life people who never manages stuff they wish for. She knew such a failure this attempt was, so she wished at least one person who was dearest for her to manage this and Historia really did. If Ymir would see this, she would be happy. She would be happy to see how Historia is making right choices and writing her own fate, unlike her.
This chapter changed my opinions on Cartman to the opposite direction. I was not expecting Cartman to be a Cartwoman, I was not expecting to fall for Pieck the first moment I saw her human form.
Friendly reminder that this:
and this are:
the same person.
I don’t want to make this woman angry.
Cartwoman’s special ability seems to be in titan form for a long period of time. With long, I mean it. Long enough to forget how to forget on two feet. And her human form’s special ability seem to be stealing hearts at first sight.
Like Warrior kids that stole my heart.
I mean, just look at these cuties!
Seeing Reiner also warms my heart.
Rubbing kids’ heads, avoiding them from weird concepted shops, giving them useful advices, just your average papa Reiner things.
Even if it gets weird sometimes.
I am talking about the scene where Reiner shout Falco to inherit his powers to protect his waifu.
Reiner was trying to motivate Falco to surpass Gabi so that he can protect her from the curse of Ymir. It is not like Gabi is going to give up on trying to inherit Armored Titan, she is too stubborn and determined to yum Reiner-senpai in order to save the good Eldians according to her point of view. Both Falco and Reiner knows this. But this choice will ruin her life and that is why Falco hates it. For someone like Reiner who lost everything he has because of the wrong choices he made, he sees and understands why Falco is that angry and reserved towards him so he uses this empty moment where Falco mumbles all his honest opinions and Reiner catches this perfect oppurtunity to tell him that if he won’t surpass Gabi, his family’s future is done. That he needs to save Gabi.
Why?
Because Reiner knows how it feels not being able to protect your dear ones. He has lost every one of them, dead took some of them, blaime handled the rest. He stayed behind while the others fade away.
He doesn’t want Falco to go through same thing, he wants him to be the sacrificial pawn because he knows how much it hurts to being saved by those who cared for you and causing their death because of some past mistakes. He wants Falco to do something he failed, he wants him do protect something he loves. He wants him to give them a future, unlike him who never manage to do so.
The choices have been made and it effected the future of our characters. It still does, yet they are not done. There are more to come, more to look, more choices to make.
I suddenly started to feel like Levi.
I hope to see another Warrior chapter next month to get a whole Warrior volume. For those of you manage to read this down:

SnK 93 Thoughts
So.
So, so, so.
Ahem.
Some will win Some will lose Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on, and on, and on
Isayama has always had a way of indulging monstrosities. When it comes to people being terrible, he’s pretty negligent with restraint. During the coup arc, he makes the similarities between the chaotic hunger of titans and humans so blatantly clear that it’s easy to feel like you’re being bashed over the head with a hammer. When he wants to make a point, he makes a point.
Since Marley’s been part of the show, it’s existed almost entirely as a How To guide on how not to be a person. Their entire military force is based in bigotry of one sort or another, their entire reason for attacking Paradis is feeling entitled to their resources, and most everything we’ve seen of how Eldians are treated in general makes the thought of a meteor eliminating the whole nation a lot less sad than that usually might be.
In this chapter, the scale is dialed back, and we’re given a chance to see the Marleyans as more than caricatures of evil.
We see humans who are worried about what their decreased military power means for their nation. We see them discussing their options in quiet offices and rooftops.
In its own way, that’s as disturbing as everything else Marley has done. They are still the people who view Eldian lives as exploitable trash. They still have no issues throwing people out of planes to be their mindless, helpless weapons. The morality of attacking a nation that has done absolutely nothing to provoke them never enters into play.
Every appalling act of inhumanity performed by their country has been backed by human beings. They aren’t actively setting out to be as evil as possible; they just take in their options, and when the only thing standing in their way is moral decency, decline to let that be a factor.
After Reiner and Bertolt break down Wall Maria, thousands of people are killed. What’s easy to forget so many years later is that thousands of those people die because their government decides that it’s easier for everyone if they write off their lives.
Marley has gotten away with adopting that decision as a lifestyle. Largely because they don’t have to deal with the pesky consideration that Eldians are people.
Essentially, minus the flagrant bigotry, they’re everything that Paradis escapes becoming. On Paradis, after a hundred years of being cowed into complacence and letting some of their worst human vices take over, people start to wake up. They’re given a glimpse of hope, and a future, and enough people are willing to believe in that to change the cruelty that’s been smothering them.
The Marleyan Eldians, the only people who have serious personal stakes in maybe not doing things this way anymore, don’t have much hope. The greatest option for a better life is training as hard as possible to be selected to die in thirteen years.
That’s a cycle that’s been going on for a hundred years. It hasn’t broken. The system’s just found a way to make Eldians compliant in their tragedy.
I don’t know how the chapter title works out in Japanese, or what references Isayama may or may not include, but in English, the title, “Midnight Train,” makes it hard to think of anything but Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’.
There’s a literal train a the end of the chapter, of course, and. it is arguably around midnight at the time it’s running, but that’s less fun.
I could probably go to more effort weaving in and out of how the two can relate, but for the purposes of this second, I’m just going to quote fast and get out.
Payin' anything to roll the dice Just one more time
On its own, those lines easily call to both the Warriors and the Survey Corps. Countless Scouts have given up their lives for the barest hint of a chance that something might go right someday.
Warriors see how they’re treated by their country constantly, and know that this didn’t start yesterday, and they each still approach it with the thought that they’ll be the ones to make everything okay for their people.
Some will win, and some will lose.
For Marleyan Eldians, Marley is the house, and they’re handing the players loaded dice.
Some were clearly born to sing the blues.
Anyway, that’s a lot of nothing saying that I appreciate the less blatant evil going on in this chapter. It makes the worst of it all hit harder. Things aren’t always train tracks and mustache-twirling. These are real human beings, choosing to enact real horrors.
Though. All the same.
There is no part of this sentiment that is not fucked up, and I’d really like to stop reading about Marley now.
What else, what else...
Well, confirmation that no one on Marley’s side knows about Zeke’s royal blood; except for maybe Zeke. We also get explicit verbage about Shifters inheriting their predecessors’ memories.
Along with the implication that Zeke went around stabbing every single person in Connie’s village with needles full of his spinal fluid.
...I. Do not know which implication is worse, there. Does... Zeke keep a stock of his spinal fluid? I mean, Marley would be more likely in that case, but that’s pretty thoroughly worse.
Getting spinal fluid out is considered pretty painful, to my knowledge. ...Does he stab himself when he’s all alone on random islands?
...Was there ever a reason given besides, “for funsies,” that he transformed Connie’s village anyway?
I think I’m just not going to think about that one too hard unless the manga starts shining a giant spotlight on it. Not caring is usually a pretty good ally in lore things.
In other news, Reiner continues to be a horrible person, adding threatening small children to his list of faults. At least he only scares the one who doesn’t like him much half to death.
It continues to amaze me that you can develop a character who is unfailingly loyal to the point that it psychologically breaks him to be a traitor, and still make him such an asshole. When he isn’t jumping in front of things for people, he’s making them feel like crap.
Unless your name’s Connie.
Then he’ll just loudly suggest that you’re a moron for hearing weird things around your mother’s titanized body.
...
Reiner should not be allowed to people.
He also has a weird obsession with turning boys into white knights.
Krista?
I shall save you, girl whose name I have yet to get right!
Bertolt has a thing for Annie?
You must rescue her as is becoming of the princely way!
Falco has a thing for Gabi?
You shall save her, valiant young steed!
He gives this poor kid a traumatizing lecture on the honor Warriors are bestowed with, and then drags him into a grueling grind of training to surpass Gabi so that he’ll be chosen (things to be included: comfort with standing in front of enemy lines in your underwear with not but a bunch of bombs for company), and then terms it as saving the damsel in distress from the horror that is being a Marley Warrior.
Reiner doesn’t just want to be a fairy tale knight.
He wants everyone around him to be one too.
If Galliard didn’t hate him, he’d be spending all of his time telling him to protect the fair maiden Pieck.
That’s Reiner’s real character arc: He’s just this poor guy trying to get an RP group going. No one ever plays the scene out right, so he’s condemned to misery for the rest of his lonely two years.
Alternatively, he has no clue how to deal with his own emotions, so he’s constantly shoving them off on other people who are just barely well-adjusted enough to maybe get something done.
“I’m a lost cause so I’m going to yell at children” is a staple of the genre.
I don’t know if Reiner’s still doing his Soldier/Warrior split (I’m guessing not, since he’s so definitively in Warrior territory, and has been for several years now), but his psychological health has somehow succeeded in getting worse.
Maybe try killing less people.
So far, I like Pieck and Galliard. Pieck obviously garners immediate sympathy because the Cartman train apparently isn’t allowed to stop during a war, and having Galliard obviously care for her is cool. These two haven’t betrayed anyone yet, or been spotted attacking people they aren’t actively at war with, so it’s easier to see them as people.
Galliard’s dislike of Reiner is just a bonus.
It’s also kind of sad. “Kind of” meaning very. No one but Reiner understands the weight of everything that happens on Paradis, but Galliard is the one whose squad left him behind. Reiner, Bertolt, Annie, and his brother are all chosen ahead of him, and he has to watch them head off to save their people while he just stays put.
Then the only person who comes back is the one whose spot he was in direct competition for. His brother and the friends he could like are gone, and Reiner has the audacity to stay standing.
Unfortunately, I think that brings us to the only reason any of you are probably reading this post.
Jaws is the Dancing Titan.
Galliard is the successor of Ymir’s power, by proof of his abilities and new memories.
That would indicate that Ymir is dead.
Every single thing we know about canon says that Ymir is dead.
Deceased. Nommed. Gone.
We have flashback panels to before she’s eaten. Galliard remembers her by name. He has memories of Reiner’s time as a soldier.
Short of a body, which, um. Let’s just say would not be around, given the circumstances, that is pretty damn conclusive.
So.
I have a problem.
My problem is a pretty simple one.
This is really fucking stupid.
And I really, really, really wish that in a capslock rage kind of way, because I feel like I would have an easier time defending that. Sadly, I don’t mean it in that way.
What I mean is that the story has failed so spectacularly to establish logic in this chain of events that I’m not convinced that this is the end.
Which means that I’m probably going to continue getting asks about why I think Ymir’s alive (though that isn’t... precisely true).
Despite being handed a chapter that pretty much shouts, “SHE’S DEAD,” as loudly as possible.
Yeah.
Assuming that there’s at least one person who’s interested in why in between laughing at me or unfollowing in disgust or any number of other things that make me think that being in mourning would actually be easier, I guess I’ll keep typing and try to explain why.
Ymir’s fate has happened to come up a number of times here, but I think the best explanation for my belief in her continued longevity is the one I went with most recently.
I’m no stranger to looking askance at Isayama’s writing choices. However, one thing he has always stayed true to, with a consistency that any writer would find admirable, is the characters. You see signs of who all of these people are far before the traits become relevant. He has a talent for breathing life into his creations, and however long they live for, they are distinct individuals without any notes to them that ring untrue.
With the facts currently at hand, for the first time, we have a jarring development that feels more like an instrument of the plot than something that a character would actually do.
Galliard and Reiner both say that Ymir volunteers to die.
Putting aside the fact that Reiner is a complete jackass for letting Ymir do that for him and Bertolt (what the hell is wrong with you that you present the woman who saved your life to be eaten alive), I do not know how to begin with this.
Because I know that this is one of those positions that means I basically can’t ever have a civil conversation with anyone again in this fandom, I’m going to try to be as direct as possible about my reasoning.
The issues start with... wow, I really don’t like doing this.
At the simplest level, nothing we have seen of Ymir since her time on the wall with Reiner and Bertolt suggests that this is a decision she’s happy about. She looks like death (ha) in this chapter, and she doesn’t look much happier writing out her love letter.
This isn’t the scared-but-willing face she puts on during Utgard or the kidnapping arc. It isn’t the smile when she talks about being a goddess. It’s desolation.
There are parts to the end of volume twelve that could point to this as a legit ending. I think one of the things I brought up in regards to Bertolt’s death was that the second his development landed on the idea that everything is inevitable, his death joined the list, because this is a series where if you don’t fight, you most assuredly do not win.
If you wanted to go there, making the case that Isayama can be lax with the amount of evidence his character decisions have, but they are always available, then Ymir’s line, “I’m tired out. I’ve just had enough. ...I’m done,” is perfectly prophetic, the end.
My problem with that is it happens post-Utgard and kidnapping arc. I don’t think any other set of chapters is as committed to sleep deprivation as those ones, and basically all of the decisions Ymir makes during the kidnapping arc are shortsighted and corrected by someone having half a second to think about them.
I’m using “problem” like it’s singular a lot. I do that. It’s annoying, and I’m going to continue doing it.
The more pressing issue here is that if this is how Ymir’s story ends, she has absolutely zero value as an individual.
She lives and dies only for other people.
She does it in her first life, then again in her second.
She has an active desire to avoid that.
Oh well.
I don’t think I know how to put into words how thoroughly this end would turn Ymir into a satellite character.
Every life lesson she ever learns for herself has zero effect on her life. As far as character development goes, if this is how things play out, she doesn’t really have any. She begins her life living only for the happiness of others, and ends her life dying only for the happiness of others.
In a lot of stories, that wouldn’t be such a problem. There is definite tragedy in someone’s own nature betraying their desires. That’s practically what tragedy is.
But with Ymir--first off, as mentioned in the above link, we’ve already done this at Utgard. This is exactly the problem she faces at Utgard, finding that she has too much love in her heart to save her own skin at all costs. Saving Reiner and Bertolt is a dull repetition of that revelation already.
And that’s before saving them involves moving forward to be eaten alive.
This is actually painful: She has a life on Marley, dies because she’s a tryhard. She has a life on Paradis, then Utgard happens and oh no, she cares about people. Then kidnapping happens, and oh no, she still cares about Historia. THEN THE CONCLUSION OF THE KIDNAPPING HAPPENS, AND OH NO, SHE CARES ABOUT REINER AND BERTOLT.
Following all of that: OH NO, DESPITE WONDERING WHY THE HELL THIS IS A DECISION SHE’S MADE, YEP, STILL GONNA DIE FOR THEM!
(you know, those people she threatened with death an hour ago for a chance to see Historia one more time)
You can make the argument that she’s consistent, but there’s a huge difference in automatically shielding people from immediate danger, and walking up to the gallows and tying the knot yourself. For that final save, that’s what the story is asking us to believe happened.
Additionally, all of the above only benefits other people. If this is the end, Ymir’s basic function in the story is being Historia’s love interest and keeping plot-essential characters breathing. On her own, she has a personality, but you might as well stamp tool to her forehead and be done with it.
Seriously, playing along with exactly what the text says, with dead Ymir: Remove Historia from the story and then examine how much worth Ymir’s story has to any of this. If she’s dead, she’s more plot device than person, which Isayama has always been good about avoiding.
...Okay, I don’t think I can say that without someone at least thinking of Floch, to which I say that if Ymir and Floch are at all comparable in value, you know something’s gone sideways.
There is no solid logic for Ymir to hand herself over to Marley. By dying, she spares Bertolt for what, two months? Reiner would have died as well if not for being Reiner. She also gives Marley a shiny new toy, with no guarantees on this new person caring at all about Historia.
Oh yeah, and she’d be dead.
She kind of spends several pages during 47 having a meltdown over imminent death.
And in that case, she’s facing it for Historia.
That girl she loves or something.
Who she’s still willing to put at risk just to see her one more time because she’s a selfish teenager who has things to live for.
But, you know, things happen. Characters aren’t always as important as you think they are, that’s the way it goes, and so on and so forth.
Except it does matter that Ymir’s arc is concluding this way. With no other character besides Historia (who has an extensive arc dealing with the emotional threat this represents) could you have an ending that flies so directly in the face of everything they stand for. And for crying out loud, Historia’s arc is pretty much learning to use everything Ymir teaches her.
You can’t have Ymir fail her own beliefs this badly without any elaboration.
Like.
You’re going to kill yourself, the ultimate act of submission. Is that how much you want to please the people who treated you like a nuisance?! Why are you trying to hurt yourself?! If your will is that strong… then shouldn’t you be able to change your fate?!
We get a whole character arc that starts with Ymir deriding her for abusing her suicidal desires. Willingly walking into death without fighting like hell to stay alive is not something Ymir does.
If this is really the end, it’s appallingly disrespectful to everything Ymir is as a character, using her only to keep the key players alive and sane--and maybe as a reason for a queen of some island to have a serious grudge.
None of which involves treating Ymir as a person who matters as an individual.
And that’s the crux of the thing for me.
Which is sad, since I don’t really want more people telling me how very wrong about life, the universe, and everything I am.
Here it is, though:
Despite all evidence pointing to Ymir’s death, and despite everything we know about canon only supporting that she must be dead, Isayama has such a long track record of respecting his characters that I do not believe that this is her end.
There is no grounding in canon for thinking that Ymir is alive (I’m not even sure she is alive in the traditional way, if there’s more to this). There is only suspicion built on the author’s history. That isn’t much. By the standards I prefer, it’s absolutely nothing.
Shifters aren’t great about remembering that first nom, and we know nothing about the ninth titan yet, but there’s also no reason to believe either of those things might be relevant.
I don’t like being the person who looks at mountains of evidence and shrugs it off. I really don’t like it when character deaths are involved. I hate it, actually, but I’m guessing that until the manga ends, even when the inevitable volume release finally has an X through Ymir’s picture, I’ll be holding out for something amazing happening with her.
Because I’m a moron.
Well.
And it enables me to end the post in this fashion.
DON’T STOP BELIEVING
HOLD ON TO THAT FEEEEEEEELING

SnK Chapter 92 Poll
I’ll be closing the chapter 92 poll tonight so this is your last chance if you’d like to chime in.
Take a Poll
I’ve received 406 responses thus far and 103 people have left comments. I especially appreciated this one
Did this very distractedly, watchin that Netflix show about OJ Simpson at the same time
Thanks, dude :P More chapter thoughts are below the read more
Reiner is getting hotter with each passing chapter. I fear we may rapidly be approaching a state of ultimate hotness that may be too much for us mere mortals to handle.
DA BEAST DADDY IS DA BEST DADDY.
Zeke's mid air transformation followed by a superhero landing is all I needed for my life to be complete
It's a boy!
I liked how much the new warriors look up to the older warriors How did Zeke drug Connies village if this is really required for his scream to work? And I wonder, are there eldians outside of Marly and paradis Island? Because the east sea nation don't have a high opinion of them as well. So, I wonder how they are treated in their society if they happen live there.
The reactions of the warriors reminded me a lot of how almost everyone reacted during Trost - most of them only knew how horrific it was, they'd never seen it. And it was HEARTBREAKING FOR EVERYONE. (But while Gaillard is agile, Ymir's titan didn't have the special jaw design, which would be weird AF if she really was the "Jaw Titan." So I'm pretty sure she's still safe).
I miss Erwin & Bert so much
Pieck's metal armour was rad
WHERE ARE MY LITTLE CHILDREN??
It hit me like a double-decker.
It was gucci
That chapter was well-done action-wise. It was cool to see the warriors of Marley in action. I'm still sad about Reiner's potential fate but I have to get prepared for him to die next chapter or in the chapter after. Poor boy only dedicated his life to an imposed duty since childhood without a break, on top of losing everybody he loved. If he dies I still have Zeke, but Reiner was my favorite warrior alongside Bert. Gabi and Falco warmed on me but not enough. I still want to spend the whole volume on Marley before moving on. no time-skips surprised me...
Zeke doesn't look he's aged a day. It was nice to see him again.
The only wow element for me was older Reiner. That's it.
I'm afraid Isayama will return to the main cast for the rest of the volume. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Reiner and Zeke, plus now we have Falco and Gabi characters (and Pieck and Galliard on top of that). I feel there should be better a introduction for the new cast, and at least some update about Reiner\Zeke ( their worldview, their rediness to pass on their titans, their opinion on the candidats, at least some interactions with them). Also, I yet so see Mare's side of the conflict, and not oppreses Mare's Eldians, but actual Mare's people (military and civilians alike). So far we've met only two officers and they were jerks. Mare's still painted pretty black, I would like to see some gray areas as well.
Better than the last two
Where the fuck is Ymir!?
I'm getting a little tired of all these new characters, and while seeing Reiner again was quite nostalgic, I really wish Isayama would bring the story back to the original characters soon.
I think Reiner's not out for the count yet, but here's something I can totally see happening: we switch back to the Paradis people and the Marleyans attack them. Everyone thinks the Armored Titan is Reiner and they try talking to him only to discover it's one of the new people. OR, for some extra tragedy, they kill/capture the titan and THEN realize it isn't even Reiner. Bonus bonus tragedy if Connie finally gets his revenge and it's not even Reiner. :( Can totally see Isayama doing that.
It was really disturbing to realize that Annie, Bertolt, Reiner, and Marcel were once probably just like Gabi, Falco, Udo, etc. They might have been idealistic, prone to kindness even to their enemies (like Falco)... or not (since it's impossible to say for sure!) But seeing what actually fighting within the walls has done to Reiner--his trauma, etc. was an excellent contrast to the relative innocence the new cast gives off, and it's heartbreaking to consider that the Warriors we know may have once been the same way. Eren & co. please arrive promptly and save them.
It was boring.
I wish they would show why zeke was the holder of the key to the whole story.
Very intense chapter with stunning art.
Everything went south, but it's good to finally have some knowledge about what's going on outside.
Mule titan is the new best titan
I am sad that "Hot Dayum Daddy-o" Is not an acceptable answer for Reiner's hotness raiting. I also better see a warrior backstory before Isayama ties the noose for good on Reiner if he indeed decides to kill him off.
i have been giving this particular chapter a LOT of thought, and after looking back to ch. 51 of the manga, particularly at the picture of connie's mother in comparison to the drooling woman towards the front of page 2, i'm pretty convinced that the elodians were the people from ragako. that being said, i'm a slight bit skeptical that they were drugged and instead am starting to believe an older theory that just as zeke can turn people into mindless titans, he can turn them back into mindless humans.
Where's Annie
SCs better ally with the Mid-East Union or Eldians will be doomed by Marley faster.
Was surprised by how much I loved this chapter, after I so hated the last one. Oh, how far we've come since the early days of the story. I can't even imagine this in an animated form. It's too many years away.
i hope reiner will not gonna die because of gabi , if isayama want to kill him no matter what i want him to die like a hero
Something that stuck out to me was Gabi's concern for Reiner, "Reiner... be careful." It's a bit odd, she wants his power (aka eat him) but is concerned for him? Is it because of his power? Or does she know and legit care for him, but she (and the other cadets) haven't been told that eating them (the titan shifters) is a necessity to gain the power? Wouldn't that be traumatizing to figure out... I'm also curious about whether or not the warriors backstories are going to be told. Since Reiner's been knocked out (again XD) it could be a good time for the next chapter to open up with a flashback and end with him waking up? He's been kept alive for a while, and there's obviously a reason for it. I also want to know more about the other little warriors, they seem neat :)
Maybe im in denial but Reiner cant die yet, hes the warrior that knows the enemy best and needs to teach someone to use the 3dmg (If he hasnt already in these 4 years)

I wanna see my children they must be so grown up, im gonna cry
fans are making too much drama for the recent lack of the main trio and the 104th squad. I'm more happy to learn about new characters outside the island and see differents points of view about the world, it gives you a global vision. Also I wish we could learn more about Marley people not for the point of view of Eldians but for themselfs or I don't know maybe from other countries? for now they are bad bad very evil duh, but I don't think in a story that constantly makes us reflect on what its good and evil the idea of Marley as the supreme ultra evil enemies is just to simple ... and lazy.
I fell 50/50 about the probabilities of Galliard eating Ymir, but the agility he has is not a proof, i don't believe the "every titan has a unique ability" thing.
Really wondering whether or not reiner may survive this since he is close to running out of time like zeke
Mule Titan is best girl
I want answers, Isayama
92 was unique, i loved it! Seeing what's happening in the other side of the ocean.
I can't wait to see more of Gabi. Gabi is best girl.
I absolutely loved this chapter. It was action packed & the ending got me so fucking hyped for next months chapter. We also got some development on the new Warriors which was really interesting. I hope they will play an important role in this arc. I'm so fucking hyped to see what the SC have been up to for the past 4 years. They probably established a base on the coast or something. btw DID I MENTION IM FUCKING HYPED FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!?
i will cry in ymir is dead
It was so short it felt like "heey you guys now you have anime so manga can be less interesting". This chapter was so unnecessary IMO
#FREEANNIE2K17 better happen soon
All in all, this chapter was way more in-depth than the last one and I liked how the warrior kids all got a bit of a personal touch to them. Reiners flashback scene was the most impactful moment in my opinion. It was so heartbreaking. Also, this chapter had a proper conclusion, so I hope we're getting the main cast again next chapter.
Zophia needs more panel time.
This was a cool chapter because of the action. I am not fan of the forced bullshit Isayama has been introducing recently like the convenient amnesia in the last chapter. Make the narrative more fluid!
I thought poop machine was bad, titan carpet bombing is even more wtf
GIVE ME ARMIN'S TITAN FORM GODDAMIT
Devastating. To see the Eldians being used as mindless weapons was severely disturbing. And Zeke finally realising that War is indeed a terrible thing. These chapters are hella intense and enlightening about the world outside. It's still really sick though. Totally sick I can't even. But the thing that really excites AND frightens me the most now is WHAT HAPPENED IN WALLED WORLD WITHIN THE 4 YEARS OF TIME SKIP. Now that we've seen what the Marleyans can and intend to do, I'm feeling really anxious about the 'final' battle between the Eldians and Marleyans. With our precious badass scientist Hange and badass fighter Levi and basically the entire badass scouts, I don't think the people in the walled world, particularly the SC just sat around and did nothing. I don't need a full flashback of their 4 years (though that would be nice as well), but I do want to see how they progressed and improved during those years. I'm imagining it in my head already: the ultimate war. And then we see all the upgrades that the SC did as well, and how Eren and Armin have mastered their titans. I'm even hoping to finally see Annie again, as a villain or whatever, as long as she's put back into the story. I'm expecting a huge twist, but please not something too nasty like Eren being dead already or something. Also, I've never really warmed up to the Marleyans, and after these past chapters, I don't think I ever will. I don't think Zeke is going to get eaten, not soon, at least. He's got so many plot points that require him (Eren, Levi wanting to kill him...), but I do think it's time for Reiner to go, since he survived three extreme situations. By the way, from Marley's perspective, giving Zeke's power to a new recruit seems like a terrible idea: if they are planning to get the Coordinate, they need an experienced war chief to start immediately. It's enough that one of their five titans will need a new recruit after Reiner's demise (if it's true he is going to die, of course, I could be wrong).
It was a good chapter, but i still have no clue about the direction Yams wants to give the story. I feel like he's going too far from what SnK has Always been. I am not happy to meet the main cast, the time skip looked like a stupid way to solve all the stuff he made and we was about to male, like ema's part. In 4 years they argued and maybe thery already fixed. Sooo stupid.
Let's go back to our main cast, please.
At this point many of us think it's unlikely the warrior cadets will inherit BT or AT...but what if, in some type of critical situation, jaws or cartman are injured or whatever, and the only way to preserve the powers is by eating them in a hurry? This way, we'd keep plot relevant Reiner and Zeke, and at least some of the more important new kids (i.e. Faloc/Gabi/Colt) could stick theoretically stick around too (by eaten the aforementioned plot irrelevant shifters)? idk just a thought
It's all well and good to introduce new characters but this late in the story, after all these very dramatic plot/character changes and massive mystery revelations it's a bit... abrupt, to suddenly be with all these new people. I feel like it's a different series and no one told me about it.
I could be interesting if we saw the Marley politicians, or how do they choose the new shifters. But seeing again the Survey Corps could be great as well. Oh, and I was surprised that Reiner was still alive after their lose of multiple shifters titans. And I hope Ymir isn't dead not just bc she's my bae, but bc, contrary to Reiner to who I don't see relevant to the story anymore, so, Ymir is still I think useful too the story. She is still very mysterious and it would not be logical for the Marley government to make her eat and not Reiner and Zeke ? Or maybe it is in fact bc she could refuse to work for them ? I dunno. Still hope she's alive. Btw, is Historia going to be married in the next chapters (for political reasons...)
Why would they make Galliard eat Ymir when they could make a recruit eat her. Giving two titan powers to one titan doesn't make sense strategically speaking. And that's if she is on the Marley side which we don't know for sure.
I may have misinterpreted the chapter due to wonky translations, but I was hoping those opposing the Marleyans would have held out more. I thought the secondary conflict was leading to something the Eldians could use when they needed to confront Marley (not a direct alliance, if literally everyone outside the walls hates Eldians, but something *waves hands*). Otherwise... the Titan drop method is awful and I know Isayama doesn't like to hold back on the atrocities, but I'll admit it did mess me up a little after reading.
I'm really hoping to see Galliard and Pieck's human forms soon. Since there were many parallels between RBA and EMA and Zeke is said to be like a warrior Levi, I'm hoping for Galliard and Pieck to be like some warrior versions of Erwin and Hange.
I want to see more backstories; Zeke, Ymir Fritz, The First King. I can't wait until Eren re-unites with Zeke.
Well, Zeke saying "war ia a bad thing" after enjoying so much killing the Scouts was quite...incoherent? Wtf lord of the ponies?
I'm completely lost as to what the story currently is
I do want to see Galliard and Pieck's human forms but not if it means we get another Marley chapter. It's time to go back to the real protagonists.
This plot twist is weird and has yet to sell me in the new direction it's taking
Locate my position and land on me Daddy
I hope the story of new warriors won't turn into another Grisha files.
I hope Paradis invasion will be told from the Warriors perspective. We already know how underprepared and unexpected Paradis is so it'd be fresh to see the story unfold from the other side. This will also give more time to develop those fresh recruits' characters? Most of them still feel like folders to me and we weren't given enough time to form emotional attachment with them yet.
I miss my Vets...
I'm terrified there may be another timeskip before we get back to the main cast i'll fuck up isayama and his editor for giving me this timeskip-phobia Having BRYH as your favorite characters really fucking sucks.
back to eren, please
All I hoped for was to at least see Reiner and Zeke again. But I'm ready to see my children again next month. :')
Im so nervous
I preferred this chapter over 91 because we got to see familiar characters. I am surprised at how quick this war ended for the viewers and hope we get to see the fallout from Marley's perspective. Maybe the changing of titans if that is going to happen before we switch back to the main cast.
4/10 There was no Grisha in this chapter, but it brought back my intense sadness for Reiner
What kind of brainwashing techniques the Marley used on the Eldian
What happened to this manga!?!
I know the new characters are all going to die so I just want to see how this story ends already.
I really don't want Reiner and Zeke to be replaced, as I don't see how that would add anything to the story and many conflicts would never be resolved. Also I loved the scene with the drugged eldians turned into titans. Very poignant. I love how the situation is cruel and inhumane yet really really believable
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This chapter has a lot of really good emotional moments (Falco saving the Middle East Union man was a personal favorite). The way the Eldians are treated was genuinely horrific. Isayama is doing well building up the tension and the threat level in his manga. But, he's also now, thankfully, investing time into the emotional gravity of this situation and this new world. This chapter was much better at establishing what this side of the wall is all about than the previous chapter. But, the main characters need to come back because I doubt most of us will ever care about the new characters nearly as much as we do the old ones. Also, Reiner is back!!! And he's so hot but everything is so sad! Seeing Reiner again is like trying to eat ice cream while you're sobbing your heart out. And honestly, if Reiner is supposed to be "dead"... all I can say is that it would be pretty lame.
The story has become way more interesting that I initially thought. I really love the new perspective shown of the tragic young warriors. The hopelessness of the Pradise situation now that we saw Marly's power. I'm scared to think of how more complicated it will be. Love how isayama is never scared to leave the main cast behind whenever he wanted to express more thoughts or story. good job.
The chapter was great. We finally have an idea of what the military prowess of Marley as well as the rest of the world is like. We know how Eldians are treated by Marley and viewed by other nations and honestly the situation is grim for Paradis. I truly hope they achieved massive strides in weapon and warfare or found an ally of sorts otherwise they are completely at the mercy of the coordinate.
god this is going so fast to somewhere i never thought this would go and idt i like that very much
I've waited so long to get the Warrior perspective on things, these chapters are a delight (while also being horrifying). Seeing how idealistic these kids are, oblivious to the reality of their monstrous nation, breaks my heart.
I have no idea what's going on anymore.
all these new characters confuses me and i think its messy that we are presented to so many new people when the manga is almost done. also a fucking four year time jump??? i just dont feel like this is snk anymore all these new characters confuses me and i think its messy that we are presented to so many new people when the manga is almost done. also a fucking four year time jump??? i just dont feel like this is snk anymore
I can't wait to see Eren & Co! \>o
I think it was kinda satisfying to see Gabi's view on the world change since she seemed so cocky before hand.
I just want to see the main cast again.
Interesting to see all the technologies/evolution the middle-east clan: they can destroy Reiner's armor !
I hate 2 last chapters
Tbh i dont mind if they do a couple more chapters from marleys pov but at the same time i want then to go back to our mian cast just to see how after the horror shitshow of 92 ; how paradis is preparing for attack
YAMS my man dude bro I wanna know the dealy-o with Ymir ASAP thx
It confused the heck out of me but I got by

SnK Chapter 105 Poll Results
RATE THE CHAPTER
1,749 Responses
78.5% of the fandom reacted positively to “Assassin’s Bullet”, rating it a 4 or 5. While still high, this is down 20% from last month.
"Did you not understand the contents?" - Isayama, probably
I cried because of a work of fiction for the first time because of chapter 105. Isayama has achieved something not even Up or Infinity War could not. Great writing on Isayama's part & I am excited to see where he takes this story to next. Also, WERE GOING BACK TO PARADIS AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
Holy fucking shit. I read the chapter before work and I lost my mind. I couldn't process anything and then Sasha was shot. I flipped! An amazing and incredible chapter.
My reaction to chapter 105 is basically just lying face-down on the floor.
EDITOR-KUN; YOU FAILED THIS FANDOM!!!!!
Depressing. Amazing. I'm dying.
ASIDE FROM SASHA’S DEATH, WHAT MOMENT WAS MOST EMOTIONAL FOR YOU?
1,722 Responses
Connie’s sweet OT3 embrace and admission that Jean and Sasha were special to him topped the list of emotional moments. “All of the above” and Eren’s mental breakdown at the news of Sasha’s death came in 2nd and 3rd.
At this point I numb myself and just ignore each chapter after I read it because it's getting too painful and I just wanna live my life you know
Attack on Suffering
Connie can not catch a fucking break.
Potato girl's death hit me hard, especially after that look on her face when Connie hugged Jean and herself. Poor Connie, the new master of suffering!
This chapter has had me so depressed. It's been days and I'm still not over Sasha, I still can't believe Potato Girl is gone forever. I'm worried for Eren, for what this loss of faith from the others will do to him, for the distance between him and Armin and Mikasa. Their strained dynamic is HEARTBREAKING.
WHICH MOMENT SURPRISED YOU MOST?
1,694 Responses
In a chapter filled with great moments, leaning the identity of Rope-kun was picked as most surprising with 30% of the vote. Confirmation that Zeke was working with Paradis came in a distant second.
I hate this. I have resisted SO HARD, for SO LONG. One hundred and five chapters later, I'm finally (FINALLY) invested in a Levi storyline. How dare you, Isayama? How dare you Jaime Lannister me this way?
I can't believe the paid actor bs was actually true lol. But I'm sure Zeke has his own objective and isn't actually on Paradis side even though they might benefit from his plans.
On chapter 105: arguably the best chapter so far in my opinion. It had so much going on. I was so excited to see the Zeke betrayal theory confirmed. Also even though Sasha is dead I feel really bad for Gabi. She's as much a victim in this as everyone.
ON A SCALE OF 1-5, HOW CHOKED UP WERE YOU OVER SASHA'S UNTIMELY DEATH?
1,743 Responses
We knew it was coming, we’ve been talking about it for years, still more than half the fandom was profoundly affected by Sasha’s death. At the other extreme, 22% expressed ambivalence.
SaShAaAaAaAaAaAaAaaaaaaaaaaa I will still be crying next month
I feel nothing about Sasha's death, mainly because she was saved by the editor before something I dislike happening. Another motive for my apathy related to her death is because of the massive nosense hate Gabi is receiving. People forget she's just kid, brainwashed and she doesn't know Paradis like we do or Reiner does.
Erwin was my favourite male character and Sasha was my favourite female character. Isayama Sensei, I don’t feel so good…
I can't really bring myself to care about Sasha's death. She's been dragged along for over 70 chapters now and it was time for her to die.
I have mixed feelings about Sasha's death. On the one hand I think had she died when she was supposed too, I would have felt more emotional about it. On the other hand, I'm glad there was another girl from the 104th still there during the RtS arc, and I liked her reactions there as well.
I'm still not over it and will probably be mourning Sash for the rest of my life.
I am still sad! I will be heartbroken if we see Sasha's family in the next chapter
WHOSE REACTION TO SASHA’S DEATH AFFECTED YOU MOST?

Isayama outdid himself with the various expressions of grief in this chapter. The fandom was divided three ways, but it was Connie’s quiet heartbreak that prevailed by a slim margin.
Now my two favourite SnK girls are dead. I knew that this could happen, but being killed because of Marcel or by Gabi... It was really twisted. Mikasa's cry broke me, because she was one of Sasha's best friends.
Eren's reaction to her death was very disturbing. At first I thought he was overcome with grief and crying, but upon further inspection he was laughing like a maniac.
we knew sasha was going to die for years now but that fuck! that really didn't have to happen!
Why did sasha have to die isayama :( She was a gorgeous woman with a great personality and just fjsfkskfkd FUCK OFF CONNIE DIDN’T DESERVE THIS KIND OF BIRTHDAY PRESENT
Isayama, why?
THE FANDOM IS DIVIDED ABOUT SEVERAL CHARACTERS. WHAT’S YOUR OPINION ON THEM?
Falco is best boy and Floch is worst. Isayama scored only marginally better than Zeke. Levi received 60 more marriage proposals than Eren. Yelena got the highest number of kisses.
We did some digging into the poll numbers to see which platform was most compassionate when it comes to Gabi. Discord and Instagram were the kindest, with 61% and 64% of respondents selecting “marry/adopt” or “kiss”. Tumblr was next with 54%. Reddit was the harshest. 2/3rds of all reddit respondents selected “kill” for Gabi.
OMG throw Floch out of the zeppelin the fucking shitbrain smartass.
WTF happened to Floch I thought initially he would be a voice of reason but evidently not…
Falco you cinnamon roll, too precious for this world, so pure and smol.
Gabi should feel the might of Ogweno's knee for all eternity.
Gabi is a precious bean! Don't talk to me or my daughter ever again!
Gabi can do us all a favor and swerve into oncoming traffic
Eren did nothing wrong
eren is irredeemable and now the villain.
Wanna kill and marry Eren at the same time.
I'm flying to japan to fist fight isayama
Definitely wanna marry Levi. Wanna hug all 104th squad (even sasha) and also the warriors and kids, they deserve it.
Isayama's story is practically screaming against wanting to kill traumatized kids, no matter their actions. *side eyes fandom discourse on Gabi, wonders if humanity is doomed*
Kiss Isayama, maybe If you gave him some Love, He would stop being so cruel.
IT’S NOW CLEAR THAT EREN ACTED WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE SURVEY CORPS. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THE SURVEY CORPS IS BEING TOO HARSH ON HIM?
1,716 Responses
Eren received quite the scolding when he arrived on the airship. Nearly half of the fandom agreed that he deserved the harsh treatment, while about 28% of the fandom thinks that the Survey Corps could have handled the situation a little better.
If only the blimp’s door would’ve been closed earlier. I’m hoping the SC does realize that they’re being too harsh on Eren in upcoming chapters.
Honestly I'm surprised they threw the blame. Not actually surprised surprised. But in the past it was always push forward and keep moving with no regrets. And it seems they have fallen back on that. I think even though Eren's actions aren't justified and I don't think he's an innocent bean, but he managed to take a lot from the enemy with his move, with a minimal loss.
Eren didn't do anything that the SC hasn't done to him many times. Using him as bait is always their go to plan.
Erwin didnt lose an arm for this.
I see a lot of people excusing Eren's actions because things mostly worked out in Paradis's favor. However, that doesn't mean that A) it was a good decision, B) the survey corps couldn't have come up with an even better plan that--among other things--may have lessened civilian and foreign diplomat deaths, had they been given the time and opportunity, or C) that Eren should be let off the hook for going AWOL and teaming up with the foreign operative responsible for their commander's death. I still like him as a character, but Eren did a fucked up thing that is sure to have international consequences, and he more than deserved that kick and the distrust of his allies.
WHAT BEST DESCRIBES YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT EREN’S ACTIONS?
1,677 Responses
We still don’t know the full story behind Eren’s actions, but regardless of his intentions, many people were hurt in the process. 46% of the fandom believes that Eren’s actions will result in a positive outcome, while over half the fandom is either undecided until they have more information, or cannot look past what he did at all.
Team Eren! The losses are nothing compared to the gains. The world had declared war anyway, and they'd already de facto been at war for a decade. Wiping out an entire fleet, capturing the Warhammer, and successfully extracting Zeke was more than worth it. Very said about Sasha though, of course. Can't wait to go back home to Paradis again. Falco and Gabi are going to have their minds blown.
I believe that if Eren and the SC worked together with their plans and made compromises for one another then the result could've been even better, since Eren would have an entire military intelligence to help and not a man [Zeke] that can't truly be trusted.
He acted independently without the approval of the Paradise Government to terrorise a festival full of civilians. His actions resemble a terrorist, arrested is being let off easily. Jean is right about the situation, Eren is the biggest reason Sasha is dead, he manipulated the Military Operation in which she died.
Eren told Reiner he now understands RBA's actions...but neverthless he's repeating them, even more cruelly perhaps. If he won't understand that the cycle of violence must be stopped in order to reach real freedom then I don't think he will ever get a happy end (beside the fact that he's going to die at 23 anyway)
I'm glad that we finally got confirmation that Eren was just his usual egoistic self that went on his own and everyone has to save his sorry ass. Again. Bless Hanji for calling him out and roasting him once again. Can't wait to see another jail time for Eren. (Though I have the feeling he will get around it or that it will be skipped.) Too bad Eren just doesn't give a flying fuck about being punished or losing the trust of his comrades as long as he got his will.
Give eren a break please. He deserves it.
Erwin is turning in his grave.
Erwin would have called Eren a hero.
JEAN BLAMES EREN FOR SASHA’S DEATH. DO YOU?
1,685 Responses
Jean didn’t hesitate to call Eren out for being the catalyst for Sasha’s death. 49% agree that Eren isn’t solely to blame and that many parties are responsible, while 11% agree with Jean completely.
Death happens in random ways, if it’s heroic or humble, no one should get blamed for it since it is gonna happen one day or another,
In the end we can all blame Ymir Fritz for this fucked up planet this story takes place on.
War means death and they are clearly in war. So many people already died and Sasha was one of the many victims of war. She was not murdered by Eren or his decisions in my opinion.
None is at fault or everyone is at fault. Early celebration, no spotter for the guy that had yet to board the zeppelin in enemy territory, Eren forcing their hand to act prematurely all being part of it. But none can be single-handedly blamed.
War is hell. People die. If Eren didn't invade, they'd get invaded, and someone would die.
I think he's very emotional at that moment and is blaming Eren but in reality there are a number of attributing factors.
bit of all of these, but mostly war is war. it's amazing beyond belief new-squad-levi all survived as long as they did, and thru everything that has happened thus far. I'd argue the casualties had Paradis not taken the initiative blow could have been that much more devastating
ZEKE FAKED HIS DEATH AND IS TRAVELING TO PARADIS. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS?
1,683 Responses
With one big Zekeret out of the way, we asked the fandom whether they feel he is to be trusted or not. Nearly half the fandom agrees that Zeke’s only real alliance is with Eren, sharing a goal to free Eldia. A small 10% believe his intentions are genuine. The remainder of the fandom is still wary about his intentions altogether.
Do NOT drop your guard. I trust Zeke about as far as I can throw him, and since my 100-pounds-soaking-wet best friend can beat me in arm wrestling, it's safe to say that that's NOT very far.
He's too cold - I don't trust him in the slightest. He probably still wants to end this tragic history - but in a final-for-all-humanity kind of way. He must be stopped!
I don't think he's being 100% genuine. I think he has his personal goals and his own versions of a free Eldia. There will be so Sure, he's supporting Eren but, I still think that he has his personal agenda, so I don't know if he just wants to free Eldia just because.
Zeke is concerned with Zeke. I think he was once tasked with the Owl's legacy as well, but now wants to double-cross everyone.
Zeke wants to try sour cream really badly
I believe that Zeke is working more or less for his own goals which is a free Eldian continent. Any alignment with the SC is because heads like Hanji support that ideal. Zeke also has personal interest in his brother and I doubt that he would stay on the SC or even Eren's side all that long if they conflicted with that goal.
DO ZEKE AND EREN HAVE THE SAME GOAL NOW THAT THEY CAN ACTIVATE THE COORDINATE?
1,686 Responses
For now it seems that Zeke and Eren likely allied due to a shared interest to free their people. But 55% of the fandom believe it’s too early to make that judgement call.
I'm unsure the Yeager brothers have quite the same desired outcome in mind. I wonder if they have different ideas of what "saving Eldia" actually means; On Zeke's part it could be saving all of them period. On Eren's, it may just be Paradisians. And if a disconnect like that exists, I can only imagine what their vision is of how to accomplish it. I think Eren's heart is still trying to stay in the right place but his mind can't be trusted to make sound, beneficial decisions.
I believe Zeke has his own agenda and it worries me. There is also the chance of Eren coming in terms with sacrificing Historia when "royal" Zeke starts doing his own thing.
Zeke is working with eren for as long as it conveniences him, but as soon as it doesn’t go his way he won’t hesistate to turn on him
Not at all. Zeke is the least trustworthy character of the series, I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually manipulating Eren. I wouldn't trust Zeke as far as I could throw him.
I'm a bit worried about Zeke's influence on Eren and his true agenda...as much as I want to believe Zeke is a great big brother, I'm still a bit suspicious.
ARMIN AND EREN'S REUNION PARALLELS THEIR REUNION IN THE UPRISING ARC, ALTHOUGH THIS TIME NO SMILES WERE SHARED. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM THEIR RELATIONSHIP MOVING FORWARD?
1,685 Responses
Now that we’re starting to see the effects of EMA separation, it’s clear that Eren and Armin’s relationship is strained. Almost half of the fandom believe that they will work through it and remain friends, while many are apprehensive and think that things can go either way. Only a small amount believe that their friendship is still solid, and just a slightly larger amount believe their friendship is dead.
I expect them to become more distant while still caring about each other. Isayama stated that they would chose different paths anyway.
Eren has become shady, untrustworthy and even more reckless in a colder sense. Armin is less warm hearted, still quite emotional, and it probably hurts to see his best friend, Eren, become what he has. Mikasa has clearly grown. She doesn't care for Eren as much as she did before, and while she definitely still does care, she's less impulsive and shortsighted to what Eren has become. They've all grown. They've all grown as individuals. They've all grown apart. They say you become what you hate the most, which is only relevant in certain circumstances, but it's never been more represented than by Eren.
LEVI COMPARED EREN TO THE PEOPLE HE USED TO SEE WHEN HE LIVED IN THE UNDERGROUND. WHAT DO YOU THINK HE MEANT?
1,686 Responses
Levi expressed a sad and disappointed look at Eren as he likened him to the people from the underground city. 53% of the fandom believe that this is due to the lack of passion in Eren’s expression, while a good 33% believe it has more to do with Eren’s underhanded behavior by defecting from the Survey Corps.
Eren reminded him of his younger self.
I think Eren may have reminded Levi of his childhood, (while Eren was sitting there). Eren has become filthy, shady, untrustworthy, rogue and looked lifeless- much like the people of the Underground.
Is Eren's comment "did you not understand the letter" a reference to Levi's lack of education during his upbringing?
when Levi first met Eren, he decided to look after him because he saw something in Eren, a fire, a desire for life. now that fire is nowhere to be seen, Eren is just doing what he has to do to survive, like the people in the underground. Levi used to be one of those people and it’s not a coincidence that Eren’s expression parallels that of young Levi. So we could say that Levi didn’t expect Eren, of all people, to become like that.
Eren is evolved from edgy teenager to protagonist od scandinavian crime stories. He only need alkoholism to fullfile the picture
I believe it was a response to Eren's impertinence in asking whether Levi did not understand the contents of the letter, Eren said it in a challenging way, or could be a commentary on Eren's miserable state, but I believe it to be the first, this was my first impression while reading the chapter
DO YOU BELIEVE THAT GABI WILL BE SWAYED ON HER VIEWS OF PARADIS?
1,654 Responses
Close to 70% think Gabi will soon learn the difference in offering someone less than half a potato. In Marley it makes you the worst of all the devils, but on Paradis, that makes you best girl.
I might be in the minority but I really like Gabi, I find her really interesting and she has the potential to act as a foil to Eren. She has the opportunity to see the other side of the conflict and change her ways and possibly help put a stop to the fighting.
I'm excited to start seeing what paradis has been up to and what falco and gabi will think of the walldians
She's been indoctrinated, mistreated, and trained to kill her whole life, which is an absolutely sickening thing to see happen to a child. I do hope that by going to Paradis she may finally start seeing things the way Falco does.
She has been raised in pro-marley family, she strongly believed that people from Paradis were evil, she saw death of her best friends and believed that her goal was lost because of attack. I believe that Gabi will change her mind about the whole situation soon.
Yeah, yeah, we all get that she has her own perspective, but she is crazy. She acts out of impulse and has a one track mind
I would like to see Floch shouting with Gabi. Or pushing her off the zeppelin.
gabi saved the manga, let her kill more
GABI CALLED FALCO INTERESTING THINGS DEPENDING ON WHICH TRANSLATION YOU READ. WHICH WOULD YOU WANT ON YOUR TOMBSTONE?
1,685 Responses
Over forty percent thought the Scottish ”You’ve been a great cunt” would summarize their life. An almost equal amount preferred being called either a great bastard or a great friend. Only 17.5% want people to think of them as a great guy once they’re gone.
Surprisingly enough nobody mentioned Falco being a great cunt in the comments. Gabi on the other hand...
HANGE HAS LOST ALL TRUST IN EREN. HAVE YOU?
1,693 Responses
While more than 72% still have confidence in Eren, more than a quarter of the fandom now views him as untrustworthy.
Whatever Eren does, I feel like he's justified because he only has what, a fucking year left and he's just trying to fix what he can. He knows that he is going to die and doesn't give a shit because he cares about the greater good, even if that means losing all his trust from.. well everyone.
"Hange has lost all trust in Eren. Have you?" I have. If 'Humanity's Greatest Hope' suddenly ran off and had some of our people killed for his own plan, then manipulated us so that we had to go along with said plan, (without trying to 'make a compromise'/'have a mature discussion about it'), I would lose all trust as well.
Everyone's deaths are on Eren's shoulders here. He went off like a loose cannon and acted on his own, putting everyone at risk. The Survey Corps losses are his responsibility and his alone.
Excited for the next coz we're most likely see Paradis after 4 years timeskip. I'm still bitch about Hange saying losing their trust in Eren. RIP Sasha Blaus
Eren betrayed their trust, but in return he got what he needed with very minimal casualties. And it's not like he didn't care.
TRAPDOOR-KUN WAS REVEALED TO BE ZEKE’S FOLLOWER YELENA. WE’RE ASKING THE REAL QUESTIONS HERE. IS SHE HOT OR NOT?
1,676 Responses
The “nays” prevailed by a razor thin margin. When we segmented this data by single platform we found Tumblr to be far more appreciative of Yelena’s appearance. 60% of Tumblr users selected “bae”. The opposite was true of Reddit where 62% selected “nay”.
bless this chapter for giving us lesbian Pieck and another ship with a great height difference and blonde/brunette visuals (eruri, yumukuri, kenuri, reibert... I see what you do there, Isayama).
I'd let Yelena lead me to a trap door.
Yelena X Levi
Yelena x Pieck
Yellena/Zeke fics when?
WILL EREN EVER GET HIS SHOE BACK?
1,638 Responses
72% hope the boi gets his shoes back in chapter 106. We have nothing more to say about this, but it’s a good place to drop some of the cracky comments we received.
Did they bring sour cream to the party on the airship?
its laurel not yanny
"THATS IT! NO LOBOV! IM MAKING MY OWN POLL!"
2/10 not enough snails
I've seen official art of Levi being a chef before, I'm wondering what kind of meal he's planning to turn Zeke into. A Beast-Titan Burger? A Zeke Zucchini? Or perhaps an Ackerman sandwich?!
WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF LEVI ALLYING WITH ZEKE?
1,668 Responses
While 17% of the fandom enjoyed Zeke and Levi’s exchange and appreciate their dynamic, 74% agree that Levi is getting no pleasure from this alliance and is cooperating strictly because humanity demands it.
it was really interesting seeing them interact, the tension was palpable and the conversation hilarious (though I know it was pretty serious).
Almost shipping Zevi but I want to keep my pov rational and logical so yeah, they hate each other but they'll work together for the mankind's benefits
As the supreme lord of ironic Zevi shipping, I am torn between that and the canon facts that Levi wants to gut him.
Clearly he is there for Levi's fine ass
I have no real opinion but I’m slightly disheartened by the first option for this answer. This might be one of the more disturbing ships.
He will keep his promise and kill Zeke in the end. Whenever that will be.
I love the hate-flirting but for real, Levi loved Erwin and has to get revenge for him
SNK is going to become the first mainstream goru-omorashi-amputee yaoi series
They hate each other but have to work with each other given the circumstances but really I'm super into enemies-to-lovers ships
Ohohoho, ahahahaha, ahahhahahahahahahahhahaha. All 3, really.
You guys are disgusting, I hope Zeke dies soon horribly
wtf dude?
DO YOU THINK YELENA IS AN ACKERMAN?
1,679 Responses
Almost 90% of the fandom believe Levi and Mikasa will remain the sole Ackermans of the story. 10% believe Zeke might have found an Ackerman ally of his own.
Hope Yelena is an Ackerman. That way we will have a person whose strength is comparable to Levi or Mikasa, but she is from the enemy party (is it really an enemy party or not. idk even.) It will be very interesting to see if Ackermans work for different sides.
Yelena will 100% be this series Brienne of Tarth, but unfortunately I don't think Zeke will get a redemption arc like Jamie Lannister did.
Chapter 104 Questions
THERE'S BEEN SOME COMPARISONS BETWEEN BERT AND ARMIN'S COLOSSAL TITAN FORMS. WHICH IS TRUE FOR YOU? CHECK ALL THAT APPLY.
The majority feels both Bertolt’s and Armin’s Collosal Titan are a good reflection of their respective owners. 37.8% think both titans are impressive as well. Bert’s (33%) iconic Colossal Titan is prefered over Armin’s (20.7%). When asked which CT is more powerful, four times as many people seem to think Bert’s was. And 21.5% can’t be bothered with this question at all.
DID JEAN HESITATE TO KILL FALCO?
1,646 Responses
Nearly 6 of 10 respondents think Jean hesitated to kill the cinnamon roll. 22.1% think he was ready to shoot a hole in the vanilla bean donut, while about 1 out of 5 people aren’t sure.
jean hesitated to kill falco but he still aimed perfectly at him and pulled the trigger if it wasn’t for pieck shifting the spear direction with her steam falco would have been killed. blown to pieces.
keep the kids away from him will you?
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE ARMORED TITAN'S NEW FORM?
1,709 Responses
Just when we thought Reiner couldn’t become any more beautiful, Isayama gives us the doki doki version of the armored titan. Unfortunately only 25.9% agree with us. A similar number of people just want Reiner to die. Maybe it’s because you wish to be his mercy angel, maybe because the unarmored titan now haunts your dreams and you’d like to be able to sleep again. That’s what 26.9% of you at least seem to hope for. Over a fifth of all respondents just wants Beardner back.
Reiner looks good with the beard but isayama doesn’t know how to draw facial hair properly most of the time so i hope it’s gone for good
Just let Reiner die man, he’s gone through so much just let him R E S T
It feels like Reiner half-assed his transformation and what we saw was the result.
RIP plot armor
WHO GOT THE WAR HAMMER TITAN'S POWER?
1,670 Responses
It seems obvious that Eren got the Warhammer titan, but 12.3% of you are still holding out hope that Porco drank the Tybur flavored protein smoothie.
WH’s death was unexpectedly brutal.
I don't see why it's believed that Eren didn't get the warhammer power. You could see the flash that we have seen before, along with the expression in which is the same of when he receives memories.
Why is there still discussion over who got the WHT? We got a very clear shot of Eren getting some sort of "flash" while inside his Titan. I'll watch the live-action movie if I'm wrong.
IS PIECK GOING TO SURVIVE?
1,662 Responses
The verdict is clear: 87.5% think Pieck will live. Let’s hope she’ll be able to meet Yelena again before shifteraids strikes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
I know we've seen Ymir survive much worse, but I think Pieck might die. Her pantzersquad is toast, Zeke is gone, I can't imagine Pieck as she is will be useful without either to support her. I think she's on death's door and they're going to try to pass her power onto Colt.
I do hope that Pieck's not gonna die yet. Isayama already killed a major character. And he once stated in an interview that he would kill jist one for now.
she's probably safe for now, but I don't see what else she'd be needed for story-wise now that she's revealed Zeke was a traitor
I'm mad Pieck is still alive.
WHO WILL BE THE MOST DEPRESSED GOING FORWARD?
1,684 Responses
“You get a clinical depression! And you get a clinical depression! EVERYBODY GETS A CLINICAL DEPRESSION!” More than half of you think Reiner will be the most depressed, while almost a ¼ of all respondents think Connie will be. Porco has about 13% of all votes. Most of you think Pieck will be okay (or more okay than anyone else on the list).
ALL OF THE ABOVE
gheez stop providing me more depressing options
Omg, you are cruel people, I can't choose one
The fans. We cannot watch, yet we cannot look away.
the state of all the Survey Corps members (except for Floch, fuck him) is, in my opinion, the worst. Reiner's is obviously horrible, too; but for some reason, the fact that he's so okay with giving up almost makes me less worried about him. Death, for me, has always been sadder when the person who passed had adamantly wanted to stay alive.
when Reiner wakes up and wants to die because of everything that happened, let me die with him
A couple years ago one Connie was half of Reiner in terms of height, and now he has half of Braun's agony, great character development for my boy
I think Sasha dying was something that needed to happen but can Connie catch a fucking break, Isayama, holy shit
Me T____T
WHERE DO YOU PRIMARILY DISCUSS THE SERIES?

Finally, the meat of the story
We got dem zekerets
I'm really worried about this new Eldian empire, that is not going to go well. So many questions to ask about what was happening on the Paradis side during the timeskip, I think it is time for some flashbacks in the next couple of chapters.
Fuck this whole depressing reality.
I just really want Zeke to die at this point. I don't care how he's working with Eren or the SC. It's his fault Erwin died, he ruins everything, he fucked over Reiner and Bert, and he's obviously going to fuck over the SC too.
I feel like everyone will (soon) have to come to terms with the fact that the Yeagerbros' plan was the right/only choice, as shown by them going silent after Eren and Zeke point out the benefit of this operation.
I refuse sasha's death
CHARACTERS ARE DYING AGAIN!!! I AM HAPPY WHILE SOBBING!!!!!!
I feel that everyone jumps to conclusions EVERY chapter, because you’d think we’d know by now that not everything is what it seems and Isayama enjoys messing with us.
I think this chapter was not criticized enough. It was basically a vomit of revelations strung together with some cliche plot
I wonder how Historia will react to Gabi and Falco upon learning of Sasha's death. I'm also curious to see how she will react seeing Eren again and meeting her relative from overseas. You know where these thoughts are going: I want to see older Historia next chapter!
Levi beating the shit out of eren is Big Mood
I'm really not upset with Jean; it's unfair of him to say that, but he's always used anger as a way of dealing with things; the fact that Eren has fucked up already makes it easy to redirect his anger.
Dina is alive and Zeke is visiting her for mother's day
It's good to see that the SC members still have their minds right (except Flocke, but he's a fucking meme), and I hope to see how Hanji acts. I've seen her too impotent in this chapter, unlike how she was in Kenny's arc.
Petition to let Levi enjoy his 40s onwards in goddamn peace.
I believe the end almost always justifies the means, but the thing is... it's important to plan, to avoid any unnecessary evils. Impulsive and reckless natures always annoy me because they often don't avoid those unnecessary evils, if anything they cause more.
Why do Hange and Levi suck at aging?
105 killed me and then killed me again. but then zevi being officially canon and jaegerbros interaction revived me and sudddenly everything is ok. anyways, kidding aside, it was really interesting to see the changes in the sc members' relationship and dynamics with eren, especially armin and levi 👀
105 is absolutely my least favorite chapter this arc. so rushed and boring.
for the god of love please let Levi die. Being forced to work with the man he swore to kill is just humiliating.
I can't wait for Levi to kill Zeke. Part of me worries Isayama is gonna rob him of that chance because fuck happy endings but maaaaaaaan I hope it's epic.
The grand ironic tragedy. An Eldian believing anti-Eldian propaganda kills another Eldian to avenge Eldian friends.
Where the hell is annie
It was great, hoping for an information dump next chapter, along with Annie returning soon and Reiner suffering even more (is that even possible?) after he's now pretty much lost everything he cared about.
Zeke's "free Eldia" line is shady af
Zevi is real, but not really. Protect Gabi at all costs. Flock is my boy. Zeke is trash but also god.
I hated it, and I hate this arc, and I hate all the side characters, and I don't care about any of it, and I can't freaking believe Isayama made Eren turn his back on all the morals Eren is BUILT on. I feel betrayed. So angry.
Boring chapter the only thing i enjoyed was gabi being an absolute badass. zeke and levi’s conversation was cringy af.
I just need the Warriors and Warrior Cadets to be okay and ALIVE throughout the series to the very end. I can't wait to learn more about Yelena and if Porco actually got the War Hammer, while it's unlikely, I've been wrong before.
The story feels completely different than it did when I first got into it. I’m wondering how Isayama plans to wrap things up after everything we’ve seen.
I just have so many feels for this chapter. After all the action in the previous ones, this one landed a punch straight in my gut. Thanks, Yams, I hate this.
I'm glad the battle is over. This turn of events offers new perspectives around. Between Falco and Gabi going to Paradis, Zeke probably having his own goal, Marley rebuilding after purging the unnecessary elements, there's plenty of material for a final arc.
Can we get the next one please? I can't take all these damn cliffhangers. I WANNA FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
this was an excellent chapter. The tension felt from the scenes in it was so strong you could slice it. Connie's reaction is quite heartbreaking and frankly, I felt quite uncomfortable just seeing the looks Armin gave Eren and Mikasa. They've all changed quite a bit. Even when Jean blames Eren for Sasha's fate, I felt like it was more out of grief than ire.
Can't wait for Reiner to come back
I had genuinely hoped that over time, more people would sympathize with Gabi, especially since shes a kid and has worked her ass off to make a better life for her and her family. Turns out, people only seem to hate her more now. I'm not thrilled that she killed Sasha but in her perspective she's an enemy and part of the reason her friends and allies were killed. War has two sides, people! That's kinda the whole point of the marley arc…
The new chapters are my sole reason for living now
I've been seeing a lot of hatred for Gabi this month, but I honestly can't get mad at her. It's understandable for people to be angry (especially big Sasha fans), but I really feel bad for all the shit she's gone through and how completely brainwashed she is.
each chapter makes me love and appreciate the warriors even more
I`ve seen people saying this chapter is the worst because of how easily Levi and Zeke "became friends” and are provoking each other. To me, it's clear that Eren forced the survey corps to capture Zeke to fulfill his unknown agenda, and that Levi hasn't forgiven Zeke for what he did to Erwin + 200 other Survey Corps members. I also hope that Zeke is just continuing Eren Krueger's secret plan (giving the Attack Titan to Grisha so he can get the Founding Titan while Zeke stays on Marley as a double agent). That would be the most badass plan in all history.

SnK Chapter 103 Poll Results
The chapter 103 poll closed with 2,013 responses. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Another month, another chapter that left people feeling excited! 98% of poll takers rated chapter 103 from good to excellent!
I just cant wait for the next chapter. I'm so HYPED
I like that Isayama for the first time since rts showcased a fast-paced action-packed chapter. Too many questions rn, but imo zeke is 100% w/ paradis, falco won’t die and the female titan will appear, regardless of its inheritor. Eren’s transformation was jizz-worthy
This chapter was both so thrilling and yet so frustrating. On one hand, so much is happening in just the right amount of panels and it seems Isayama has learned the art of pacing in this arc more successfully than others. I'm a sucker for tragedy, so the conflicted misery of what is going on is satisfying given the history of the series. On the other hand, I am still very frustrated in figuring out what exactly is going on, what is being implied, specifically anything involving Zeke
I don’t know what to say. I feel so empty. But the chapter is great!
This month it was a tie for most emotional moment between “Falco trying to encourage unconscious Reiner” and “Armin finally appearing, looking haunted”. We are happy to see that people who love both sides of the conflict were able to have a good emotional tug with this chapter!
Pretty much every panel that included Falco. This poor, traumatized child who ran into a literal war zone to get help.
Why are all my waifus getting killed.
With Reiner having no will to live, I guess he’s just going to stay in that crystal thing. Why do we have so many shifters in crystals now (Annie, Lady Tybur and now Reiner)?
I absolutely loved the scene between Falco and Reiner. That was one of the most emotional and sweet moments in SNK. Reiner was ready to sacrifice himself to save the child. I truly love how warm and protective he is towards children. I hope that both will survive. I want Reiner to find happiness and see how great person he really is. He made mistakes but regrets them. He learnt his lesson. Now is time to move on.
This one was a landslide win with Armin’s entrance taking the victory. It seems that months of waiting to see his return finally paid off! We’re sure many of you guys are hoping to see his Colossal form next month!
Eren transforming three times within a half an hour is incredible, but the most amazing part of the chapter was Armin's entrance as the colossal titan. The explosion looked catastrophic, can't wait to see it animated!
I literally screamed when I saw Armin, I’m so happy to see him with the Survey Corps, but his face worries me slightly. I’m also sad we didn’t get to see his titan form.
Not as epic as the last one but so glad to see Armin again. Sasha's sniping skills and Eren mindblowing everybody (Porco in particular) were the best parts.
While the majority of you guys are certain Zeke is only acting on his own agenda, there’s plenty of division on whether he could be siding with Eren alone or with Paradis as a whole. One thing that does seem certain to the majority is that he’s definitely not working in Marley’s favor.
Zeke probably thinks he and Eren are the same because they were both manipulated by Grisha or so he thinks. If he realizes that Eren probably doesn't hate their dad, Zeke's attitude towards his brother will possibly change.
Zeke's the one with most awareness that the cycle will repeat so long as shifters exist, his unique perspective is knowing what Grisha taught him as well as having the total trust of the Marley from a young age, and having physically gone and seen the island and witnessed their struggles with the titans, and met Eren who is the direct result of Grisha's continued plans. There is no one who should be more impartial and aware that this is a unending cycle, it seems he's finally coming to terms with having to do something about it after all his life simply being a pawn of people in what he assumed was a more influential position than him.
Every chapter I say "This is definitely the chapter we finally see what Zeke is up to" and every chapter it just gets more confusing...
I seriously doubt that Zeke is working with Paradis. One thing would be to act like an enemy but he literally killed a bunch of SC soldiers, I doubt the SC would be ok with that. Also, Levi looked PISSED AF! I doubt Zeke died and he's still suspicious but I'm betting on him having his own ulterior motives.
I don't think Zeke is working with the SC. It was hard to answer these questions when the options contradict my feelings and understanding of the chapter so much.
So. Good ol' Zeke. He's like David S. Pumpkins; he's his own thing. I'm still of the belief that he's working towards his own objective but now I'm more open to the idea that he may have something set up with SC via Eren as his point of contact (who, of course, is definitely working with/for SC). But it's clear that even if they are both aware of the chain of events unfolding before their eyes, both sides have something they want badly in the end and will probably "betray" each other without hesitation to get it at some point.
The survey corps has a plan but Zeke and Eren also have a separate plan they're not aware of. And on top of all of that Zeke has his own plan for his own personal agenda.
Zekerets
The general consensus is that there’s more in store for Zeke in this story, even if it means he managed to transfer his consciousness to his Eldian ass. ;) Most of you are positive we will be seeing more from Zeke in future chapters!
If Zeke is dead, I will watch the live action movie 10 times in a row
Levi cut Zeke out of the Beast Titan's neck while everyone was distracted by Armin's transformation. Then after Zeke made his getaway, Levi blew the shit out of the rest of the nape to destroy the evidence and make everyone think Zeke was dead.
Zeke escaped upwards using 3dmg right as levi was supposed to attack him, causing zeke to be assumed KIA
Well, looks like Zeke has been vaporised, playtime's over kids, let's head back home now!
I find it hard to believe that Zeke got taken down this easily again. I also find it odd that we don't see the clothing he's wearing inside his titan, but we do see what the others are wearing in their titans. Looking back, it seems that's the way it was before, too. But I think it would be a cool plot twist if he had 3DMG equipped this time, considering he did take Mike's 3DMG a while back.
While the majority believe that Levi is working along with Zeke, there is division on whether Levi has decided to let go of his promise to Erwin to kill Zeke. Over half of the voters believe that Levi still intends to kill Zeke when all is said and done, but a good 31% of you believe that he may have decided to let it go for the greater goal.
If the Zeke-Survey Corps alliance isn't real then Isayama must be the biggest troll ever. Also, I believe Levi has always shown that he'll do what's best for humanity/Eldia (even if it means doing unpleasant things) so I don't think the alliance is as far-fetched as other people believe.
Still waiting for that sweet Levi's Revenge™
Levi! I love how emotional Levi gets when it comes to keeping his promise to Erwin; nothing can get a rise out of him anymore or get him to max rage except Zeke. I hope we find out sooner rather than later what Zeke is up to, but there is no way that Levi is going to let him walk out of this alive, even if he is part of the current plan.
Regarding Levi wanting to Kill Zeke, while he'd prefer to kill him by his own hands we already know he'd be willing to feed him to someone so the Titan power isn't lost. I personally think Zeke agreed, since he has a a year left at best,
While there was a small shift in ratio, the majority of you guys still believe that Pieck is not totally trustful of Zeke. There have been plenty of analyses floating around believing that she may have seen Zeke leaving the Beast Titan after Levi’s attack.
The question about Pieck being mistrustful of Zeke isn't worded very well because if I answer yes it makes it seem like I'm part of the 70% and haven't changed my mind when I'm in fact part of the 30% and haven't changed my mind.
This question was mainly for fun, but Lady Tybur decidedly wins the award for Best “Bitch Please” Face™. Hopefully we get more fun looks from her next chapter!
Imma let you finish, but Lady Tybur has the best side eye in all of SnK
Ms. Tyber has the best death glare!
There’s some division on this question, but it’s a near-tie between Armin getting involved in the fight and the Paradis crew’s ticket out of Marley showing up.
They'll drop sour cream bombs
At this point John Cena might as well show up.
Annie will arrive (let me dream)
I think time is running for them to scape "safely", but not necessarily through a zeppelin
I think what Jean & Zeke mean by "It's almost time/times running out" is that Eren needs to make contact with Zeke before the Colossal Wall Titans arrive so Eren will be able to control them. If Eren doesn't touch Zeke before the Wall Titans arrive, everyone including the SC & Eldians will die.
I believe that the question about the lights up are relationed with Hanji, after all, Armin is too distance. In fact, I think that the thoughts about an escape through a zepplin are a little bit awkward. And I think that zeke escaped using the DMT, wich he took when he said goodbye to piecke and porko, before eren showed up.
Most of you still believe that Jean is clinging onto his humanity (and with good reason after he called Floch out in the previous chapter for being too zealous). The expectation is that he will avoid harming Falco or that someone else will step in and do the dirty work instead.
I noticed that jean is only attacking the shifters on shiganshina battle arc. which can tell a lot about his war ethics and strategics. he’s only fighting those who declared war on them first, almost as if trying to ignore those who got caught up into it.
Jean will kill Falco. I think becasue it's a callback for that girl from MP that Jean couldn't kill from Uprising
Last month nearly all of the scores were tied with both pessimism and optimism about Annie’s fate. This month, there seems to be more optimism, but most people are still hanging out in the area of uncertainty. We hope to get a clear answer soon!
Since Eren said that the crystal was, as expected, unbreakable AFTER pointing out it was like Annie's, I take that to mean he has tried chewing Annie's crystal open but failed like he did this time. I'm not sure why so many people seem to be taking this to mean that he was able to eat Annie when the scene actually reassures me that he hasn't
I had absolutely no hope for Annie being alive, but seeing Lady Tybur being conscious while inside the crystal changed my mind. Annie could still be alive. And if she is, she spent YEARS in the crystal while being aware of her surroundings??? I am shook
It has already been hinted several times that Annie would eventually return. I don't think Isayama would forget about her, and if it appears to be true, that she's returning next chapter, I hope to see her work with the Survey Corps, or a backstory/flashback, which explains the reason why she'll be working with the Survey Corps from now on.
Almost 35% of you are ready to just see Lady Tybur kick the bucket already, but a good 28% of you would at least like to see her have a chat with Eren first.
why do so many people want lady tybur to die?? i don’t understand?? she’s cool and has done nothing wrong to anyone like ever??? she’s even called a villain?? excuse me tell me one villainous thing she did?? she’s a decent human being but i guess how dare she beat eren’s ass up and defend her people... 🤦🏻♀️
Eren needs to swallow her whole (insert lemmy face)
Over 60% of you believe that the Survey Corps’ goal is to kill the enemy titan shifters.
I strongly disagree with having only 2 options in the "capture or to kill them?" question. The real answer, is, I believe, either one. If they can deprive Marley of a weapon and add it to their strength, is clearly the ideal. But, if the choice comes down to kill or they escape, they'll absolutely just kill them. Depriving your enemy of a weapon is always a better choice than letting them continue attacking you with it, in the hopes you could take it later.
I still maintain that the goal was to avoid any and all combat with the shifters; hence Pieck and Porcos trap. (Why bother setting the whole thing up? Why not just kill them?) My guess is that capturing them for their titan powers was the next step, although that's obviously failed. I feel like the end game here is to gather all the titan somehow and unite them for...??? Something??? World peace??? Shit, that sounds like a good idea. Unrealistic but good.
It’s a near-tie between believing that either Zeke orchestrated capturing Porco and Pieck or believe that he did it as a larger plan with the Survey Corps.
Maybe Zeke wanted to isolate Pieck and Porco in the trap, to save their lives?
Most of you seem to have given up on figuring out Trapdoor-kun’s identity. But a fair chunk of you think it could have been a current day Eldian restorationist! There’s still a good amount of you who believe it’s Connie as well.
Hiroyuki Sawano
Erwin it was erwin. You thought he was dead? You fool he's not! He's immortal, he's still here and with the strength of his eyebrows he will kick everyone's ass.
I really don't care at this point
One thing is certain, at least 65% of you guys believe that the Jaeger Brothers have the best Eldian asses! It seems nice booties run in the family!
I can forgive people supporting Marley, but WHO THE HELL VOTED ON ZEKE ASS?????
Everyone who chose zeke’s Titan as having the best ass is a furry goodbye
Levi is jealous of Zeke's Eldian ass.
porco got a nice ass uwu
That question.... I don't care about titan's butts -_-
I like Eldian asses
Predicting who Isayama kills off has always been difficult, but over half of you believe that Pieck is going to be toast in the next chapter, with Jean following in second, Porco a distant third.
Gabi you better not be aiming that rifle at my husbando Jean also can everyone of Paradis and Eldia have a party at the newly created bay, I want the warriors AND the SC to live please and thank you
Pieck and Porco will likely die next chapter 😪
I swear to god Flocke if you lay even one finger on little Falco or Gabi I will personally hunt you down, you'll be lucky if I find you first though. Because other wise the Armored titan will kill you dead. You will then, rest in pieces.
Protect Jean and Falco 2k18
pieck cant die, nor can any 104th members
At 57%, a majority are thirsty for answers on the Paradis Crew’s last 4 years.
I need Paradis flashbacks but first I'd like to be sure no one major dies, thanks.
I stg we'll have that fucking Paradis flashback right before Levi's death. Fucking Isayama.
I really don’t want a crap ton of flashbacks I’m Ngl I just kinda wanna get moving I know the q and a said stuff but like that’s my thought at the moment.
I really hope the next chapters a flashback to paradis i mean it would be neat for the 104th chapter to be a flashback ABOUT THE 104TH
As expected of the redditors, you’re still the overwhelming majority of the poll takers! ;)
ANY OTHER CHAPTER THOUGHTS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?
So chomping down on Lady Tybur's crystal won't break it and apparently neither will the thunder spears. We still haven't seen Eren try to use his hardening ability to break it but honestly, I think his only option now is to use the coordinate. It could be revealed soon that only the person inside the crystal can break themselves out and by using the coordinate, Eren can order her to do so. After all, we've seen Eren control mindless titans, but would unlocking the full powers of the founding titan allow him to control shifters as well?
Bertholdt's death was such a surprise to Porco... When Reiner returned to Marley, he gave his full report about what had happened, so if he was aware of Bertholdt's death, then he would have reported it, thus leading to Porco knowing that Bertholdt was already dead. Does that mean that Reiner has no idea that Bertholdt is dead? Was he hoping that Bertholdt managed to escape and was still alive on Paradis?
"Friendship ended with mr Kruger, now Reiner is my best friend." - Falco
Personally I'm not a huge fan of action heavy chapters like this as they take a few read throughs to get a good picture of what's going on. Although I do think the intention at the minute is to make us feel a bit lost as to motivations and who is supporting who. So I'm going to roll with it and be surprised when the reveals happen.
I think Porco will get Marcel's confession memory soon.
Even if it's all a plan made by Zeke and Scouts, the fact that SC soldiers still died , unaware of the bigger plan, makes me really sad. It's like with the plan to capture Annie back in the Giant Trees forest and Stohess. Back then it was Erwin who organized the plan, now it's Hanji's turn?
I. WANT. ANNIE. TO. RETURN.
I want Bert to Mufasa the fuck out of Reiner
Zeke is lucky he had royal blood as a bargaining chip to convince Paradis to team up. Otherwise he stood no chance if they had to fight for real. I don't think Zeke is a master planner, maybe he has an end goal, but he isn't a genius who has planned every step to get there. He gets lucky and bailed out by others and his conveniently relevant Senju DNA too often to be a keikaku master.
GIB COLOSSAL NO-LONGER-COCONUT
In before Jean's thrust into mortal danger via Gabi and Armin shows up to save his ass at the last second YET AGAIN
everyone simmer down like people in this fandom need to steal some of erens drinks from his apparently extensive alcohol stash like gdi I’m losing it guys I have a family and stuff I have alife and y’all losinf it and making me go crazy too like w t f.
Honestly, I was over the moon when Levi took down Zeke, but it did seem a little too easy...I highly doubt Zeke would go down easily. Also, Armin's haunted expression broke my heart. You can see the pain in his eyes, and that makes me even more curious about what's happened on Paradis over the last few years.
In my first read i thought that Armin had a ponytail and i got excited. Some users corrected me and when i re-read the chapter i found it was just his hand. I feel betrayal
Eren has more stamina than the Energiser Battery Rabbit: he can just keep on going, and going, and going...
I spent the entire chapter going "Get back in the damn titan, Porco!" I died with the panzer squad. RIP me."
Low key I have had no idea what’s been happening since 101

SnK Chapter 91 Poll Results
The chapter 91 poll closed with 473 entries.
“Utter Garbage” or “I trust Isayama”?
We’ll start with the scale questions. The range was 1-5, from “utter garbage” to “I trust Isayama”. I realize that isn’t an accurate scale, but “I trust Isayama” is the comment I hear most when discussing Isayama’s more questionable decisions.
RATE THE CHAPTER (451 responses)
The reaction to the chapter as a whole was pretty positive. Only 23% of people ranked it towards the “utter garbage” side of the scale. A majority were optimistic and almost 23% of respondents were downright confident Isayama is going to pull it off.
This chapter has really grown on the more times I read it.
[It] seems so naturally easy for a group of teens to gain success, while the character we learned to appreciate experienced nothing but death. it feels unfair [...] but if Isayama is doing this, there must be a reason.
While there were definitely aspects that deserve creation (for instance we all know the amnesia thing was lazy writing) but overall I don't think the chapter was bad. I think the kids' unrealistic attitudes in battle was purposeful juxtaposition to the way our main cast has experienced war--it shows the extent of the brainwashing ...
Although there are a lot of cool elements, it's all just handled so badly and doesn't flow well at all. I hate just about all of the new characters. Everything about it feels lazy, rushed, and badly developed. Though the war stuff and new tech is cool and refreshing to see.
I always enjoy seeing what outsiders think of Paradis and the main characters. I appreciate how Isayama handles themes such as government propaganda and the way each side in a war can see their cause as righteous and just.
I thought this chapter was actually pretty cool. I've fallen hopelessly in love with Gabi! Fingers crossed that Annie gets the f*** outta that crystal soon though!
Seeing the extent of Marleyan brainwashing was exceedingly well done.
The random amnesia thing was really lazy and half-assed.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE TIME SKIP? (452 responses)
I’ve never seen a scale so evenly divided. Opinions about the time skip are all over the place. A slim majority picked the safety of the middle option.
The time skip is perfect and Gabi is the best.
The time skip was needed for story progression but a lot of important questions and interactions were skipped in terms of character development. I just hope we get some of them in flashbacks and not have them completely disregarded
Timeskips should be illegal
After reading the full chapter and talking to someone else about it, I feel better about the timeskip. This chapter made me feel for RBA more, because they must've started out like Gabi and the rest.
Timeskips are cheap ?? Theres so much plot you could throw in there but noooooo
I believe there is no time skip but the chapter takes place during chapter 1-90 of the manga. So its showing a different perspective on the manga
Time skip means we will see older version of the main characters and that's both exciting and terrifying af
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE DIRECTION THE STORY HAS TAKEN?(452 responses)
Feeling about the direction of the story are almost a mirror image of the "Rate this Chapter” question. Despite disagreement over the time skip, confidence is still relatively high.
Love the story right now so much. The mix of ww1, fucked up war morals, fantasy is a personal favorite.
I will like this chapter, but only if Isayama concludes this story with a good twist, that is. If not, chapter 91 will in my opinion be the beginning of the end (end in a bad way).
Isayama fell asleep at the wheel
It's definitely not how I thought it would go, and it seems like it may only pay off if we exceed the previous 110 prediction for chapters. I've seen a couple of theories about the new characters and parallels between the Trost days for our characters. I will be extremely disappointed if we get no answer on what happened during the lost year of chapter 90. Or the lost 3 years between that and 91.
i think the story has potential still, and im interested to see how it will work out. im also just hoping this flash to the marley side isnt gonna be too long.
I think this is going to be really interesting and we get to see the other side of the fight and their perspective.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE CHAPTER (451 responses)
The reveal of the Jaw Titan was completely overshadowed by the brief glimpse of Reiner and insight into Marley. 57% of the vote focused on those two things.
Imagine how the poor kid that inherited "Cartman" felt like upon learning that that thing was their award for winning the marleyan hunger games.
I thought this was a pretty good world building chapter (despite the jarring time skip), especially since we've been waiting many chapters to see this place. I don't ADORE these new characters, I'm more intrigued, which is better then hating them. This is also a good set up chapter. I'm interested to see if Reiner will interact with these new characters. Since they look so similar to the 104th (design and personality), will he constantly be reminded of his past relationships with them? Plus, will he see some of himself in them (specifically Gabi) and through them reminding of himself we'll see his backstory? And is he going to just except his fate and get eaten, or be like "Screw this, nope, not dealing with it."
WHICH NEW CHARACTER DO YOU LIKE BEST? (447 responses)
Support for Gabi is simply overwhelming. Gabi (38%) and Jerwin (25%) were our favorite new cast members.
Gabi is such a badass, omg, do you see it Eren? This is how you getting out of horrible situations!
Dammit you Gabi! Fresh Face, Fresh Outlook in Life and Cute! I want to cosplay as her!
i feel like i'm the only one who doesn't like the new characters
I'm so confused but Gabi is fantabulous
Gabi is such a ray of sunshine
my orphanage is full i already have too many kids to adopt in this series
WHO DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO INHERIT REINER'S TITAN FORM? (434 responses)
Another close poll, Reiner keeping his titan form narrowly edges out Gabi as the armor recipient.
WHO DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO INHERIT ZEKE'S TITAN FORM? (440 responses)
If respondents have their way, Zeke’s short term future is very secure.
I also believe that Zeke will keep the Beast Titan (at least for a while), but ultimately Colt will be the one to inherit it. Zeke story is far from being over.
If Levi is taking down the beast titan and he finds out that not only is Zeke already dead, but his replacement is a weak-brows version of Erwin, I really hope it gives him pause. That could be such a heartbreaking, earth shattering moment for him and I hope Yams handles it right.
Attack on Clones
New character, same face. Most of these are self explanatory, but clearly I asked the wrong question with Falco since the majority picked “Other”. Grisha’s friend and fellow revolutionary Grice should have been an option.
Strong resemblance confirmed! I was especially please that the majority agree that Colt most closely resembles Erwin. Since I passionately hate the name “Colt”, I see this as permission to call him Erwin, Jr, or “Jerwin”.
Zophia is clearly the traumatized medic who inventoried dead!Marco)
I don't really see a strong resemblance between the new cast and the old.
When I saw the new characters I thought: would the children of our main cast look like them?
Part of me wants to say that some key characteristics about Gabi not only resemble Eren or a younger version of him, but may also express some of the characteristics Isayama originally wanted to use for Eren when he considered making him female
Colt=Commander Handsome 2.0
Colt looks like Kenny tbh
WHICH OF LEAPINGTITAN'S REACTIONS BEST DESCRIBE YOUR REACTIONS TO THE CHAPTER? (404 responses)
Ya’ll know these questions are unscientific and purely for my amusement with questions like this. I thought Nick’s live chapter reaction (soundboard) summed things up perfectly. At least one respondent disagreed.
theleapingtitan's reaction wasn't that funny, and for a SNK Chapter poll, seeing stupid stuff like this just takes away the authenticity of the poll
who tf is nick (jk lol praise the walls)
"WHAT" was legitimately the keyword for this chapter but I trust Isayama with the story and with our heroes+ I hope we'll get to see the Jaegers reunion before anything bad happens to Zeke tho
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE DIRECTION THE STORY IS TAKING? (448 responses)
This question is nearly identical to the scale question at the top of the poll, but it’s nice to see the information presented in a different way. It’s obvious to me that while the majority still have faith in Isayama, people are hesitant to fully embrace his storytelling.
I was waiting for the story to explain what's going on the other side of the ocean. But not from these "copy and pasted" brats. Reiner is seen in just one panel and Zeke is barely mentioned. That's a shame.
I'm interested to see where this goes but a good 75% of my thoughts are concentrated on what the main characters possibly look like after the time skip.
I honestly dislike how Isayama uses these new characters to show us what Marley and being a warrior is like, instead of showing us RBA and Zeke's past :(
Really enjoyed the way the characters were presented. It gives the reader the chance to see Marley's side of things without being forced to have a story-generated opinion on them (aka screaming at us to hate them) because quite frankly, I was rooting for those Warrior kids to succeed with their plan!
Very unexpected change of character view from our beloved heroes to their"enemy"'s point of view. But I also think it's come at a good time in the overall SnK storyline.
It's disappointing. There's so much potential in the series but I feel like Isayama just wants to get the series over with.
DO YOU THINK YMIR IS DEAD? (445 responses)
Clearly, we’re keeping the faith until we see a corpse.
In reference to Ymir, I don't believe she'd dead because unlike the Zeke and Reiner, no warriors are competing to claim her power, so unless they already dealt with the one to claim her I think they've kept her alive for now.
WHICH CHARACTERS DO YOU GENERALLY ENJOY THE MOST? (450 responses)
I’ve asked this question with each poll and in the past “The Vets” have had the edge. That changes now. I suspect many of Erwin’s fans are no longer interested in the series and certainly not interested enough to take a poll. This number may continue to decline since “The Vets” now consists of only Levi and Hange. Fans of the “The Warriors” remain consistent in their dedication.
Final thoughts
There were more chapter thoughts in this post. Fandom hope for ponytail Levi is strong! “Where’s Levi”, “Where’s Ymir” and “Bring back Annie” continue to be high on everyone’s mind.
Compiling this takes forever but I love getting a glimpse into what what others are thinking. If I didn’t publish your comment, please know that I read it. Thank you again for the support.
