more dynamics i need to see in st5 for my mental wellbeing

1. el and dustin. that’s it send post. they were genuinely so sweet in season 1 and i miss their mad scientist/test subject vibe immensely. i know el and lucas are going to be paired up this season because of their shared connection (polyamory) to max, but i would love to see more scenes between dustin and el— maybe some lighthearted bonding over their matching leg injuries or daddy issues.

2. mike and robin. i don’t think you understand i need this like i need air. will has already had his gay awakening he doesn’t need a queer life coach!! mike on the other hand is out here in the TRENCHES. this man is down critically horrendously morifyingly BAD for will but is convinced el needs him and that will could never reciprocate his feelings. he needs robin’s gay intuition and advice if anyone does.

3. steve and jonathan. HELLO??? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELLO???? i know this is pretty much guaranteed to happen in st5 because full-circle character development and hammering in themes and blah blah blah but i’m still gonna talk about it because listen. steve got his shit rocked by jonathan one (1) time and immediately decided “fuck my idiot friends” developed a moral conscience and SHOWED UP AT HIS HOUSE to apologize. he wasn’t there for nancy he had no idea nancy was there!!! he bought jonathan a new camera!!! he was so respectful of nancy and jon even when nancy dumped his ass a season later!!! yet we never get closure between him and jonathan or even a conversation and i’m PISSED about it. matt and ross duffer rectify this or else.

4. hopper and jonathan and will. you see the vision. these kids have never had a stable father figure who truly understands them (i love bob but he was only there for st2 and was sweet but naive) and everything they’ve been through. jonathan DESPERATELY needs to be de-parentified and released from the emotional burden of constantly putting will and joyce before his own needs and dreams, and hopper desperately needs to feel like he can protect his family instead of “cursing” them. will needs a loving father figure who supports his queer identity, and hopper only had a fire lit under him in s1 when joyce mentioned it could have been a hate crime. this is like textbook recipe for healing and closure for these characters.

5. joyce and karen? i just think it would be neat. we know karen’s getting more involved this season and i think she should get to be a little gay for joyce as a treat. we had crumbs of their dynamic in s1 and on a more sincere note i honestly think joyce could help give karen the courage to leave ted or demand better from him moving forward.

6. nancy and mike. if they don’t have a genuine conversation i’ll actually be fuming raging pulling my hair out. i get it i get that they’re both emotionally repressed but GOD i wish we had more moments with them talking about their trauma or empathizing with each other’s survivor’s guilt and crippling savior complexes. all the “max and mike are the same character in a different font” business is very valid and i agree madwheeler is like ten shots of espresso injected directly into the bloodstream HOWEVER, nancy and mike’s traumas and emotional issues are so so similar please let them talk about it!!!!

7. steve and robin???? please for the love of god????? literally what the fuck was happening in s4 they were NOT given enough screentime together. not cool. i want them BACK on their queerplatonic bullshit in s5, fully codependent disgustingly clingy like god intended.

8. jonathan and el. i just want them to be siblings together!!! we got a lot of willel sibling vibes in s4 and some sweet jon-and-will moments, but i would love for them to delve into jonathan and el’s dynamic. this girl is a big reason why will was saved in s1 and we just… never really see the byerses address that? jonathan has a lottt of self-blaming tendencies when it comes to will and i’d love for el to help remind him he isn’t responsible for protecting and saving his brother all the time. conversely, i’d love for jonathan to remind el that she’s just a kid and that the weight of the world shouldn’t be on her shoulders. they’re both really soft-spoken and sweet characters with hard veneers and i feel like they’d pair well together for more emotional scenes.

9. literally the entire byers-hopper family they are the heart and soul of the show and i will never forgive the duffer brothers for losing that in s3-4 in favor of expanding the scope of the story. i miss them.

10. steve and el. i would maim and kill for this dynamic actually. both of them are involved in love triangles and have arcs centered around independency and platonic/found familial love, and steve has his whole mom-of-the-group shtick that could be really endearing paired with el’s plucky weird-little-girl vibe. idk i just think they would be a cute team, maybe paired with dustin or lucas.

11. stoncy and robin. literally give me this team or give me death. i miss stoncy’s iconic end-of-season-1 monster-hunting trio dynamic SO MUCH i would give anything for them to go on a sidequest and really just hash it all out with each other. and robin could offer steve moral support and comic relief— while we’re on the subject i would also kill to see her and jonathan interact!! like they are so similar in that brooding-noncomformist way and i feel like they would either immediately gravitate toward each other based on values OR immediately clash due to their personality differences. jonathan is all quiet and avoidant and robin can be… A Lot (said with love) when she’s not masking like s3. i just think they’d be funny together.

How Polyamory would save the House of the dragon Laenor/Harwin/Rhaenyra version

Hear me out.

I have read a lot of very good fanfiction ok, its given me ideas ok!!

So there are two versions of this so I’m gonna do two different versions.

So the wedding occurs, its bad. Poor Joffrey is cut down (RIP my good sir, you should have gotten to slice Criston Coles head off.)

Rhaenyra rushes to Laenor, trying to pull Cole off Joffrey and in his rage he tries to cut them both down, Rhaenyra for her ‘rejection’ and Laenor for ‘stealing’ Rhaenyra.

Mr Breakbones himself is not about to allow that to happen. He bum rushes the idiot so fast his head cracks onto the floor and he gets knocked the fuck out. He’s not even awake before Visery deamnds his head.

He doesn;t die that easy. Laenor takes him down to the black cells and makes him suffer.

Cole is fed to Seasmoke, or whats left of him is does anyway.

It does a lot for his mourning, but he still mourns.

Despite Visery’s push to rush the marriage, both Rhaenys and Corly’s tell him no. He listens.

They also make sure that all of Alicents green dresses are burned. No green material can be found in Kingslanding for the next year.

A month later Laenor and Rhaenyra get married, and in that time they both take the gloves off. Joffrey was killed and Rhaenyra betrayed.

They annouce widely they will not only marry in the eyes of the Seven, but also in the eyes of their gods.

And little do people know that Harwin has slowly earnt their love. When the time comes it is him that helps them produce their first heir. Their Jacaerys, born with rich white curls, his mother eyes and his father smile and darker skin.

No one would ever doubt his heritage.

Laenor mourns and comes to love both Harwin and Rhaenrya, true romantic love. He will never be sexually attracted to Rhaenyra but he adores her and she him.

But they also love Harwin, and both are determined that he will be married to them.

It is actually Daemon and Laena, both married with their twin and their young son Baelon, that help them using the doctrine of exceptionalism as well as casting rumours about and blackmailing the high septon.

It takes 2 years, in which time Luecerys is born, with black Baratheon curls and Laenors eyes. but by this time the High Septon claims that the gods have said Harwin must be repaid for saving Rhaenyra’s and Laenors lives, and it must be done in marriage.

Rhaenyra of course respectfully accepts this, it is a message from the seven afterall.

And so, much to Alicent and otto’s fury Harwin is married into the couple and they all head to Dragonstone to marry Harwin in their ways and then to Harrenhall to marry alll together in front of the Old gods.

9 months later Joffrey Strong is born, named for the man who died to give Harwin his greatest happiness.

Rhaenys is very proud of her boy and loves all her grandchildren, including any beget by Harwin because they are Laenors as well.

Corlys is very confused by the whole thing, he just lets his wife and children do what they want at this point.

Larys fucks about and finds out at this point, people assume that he had accidentally gotten into the pit whilst drunk and had been too slow to escape Syrax, no one knows he had tried to kill his brother and had been killed by Syrax and Seasmoke in revenge.

Harwin does not mourn him, not when he had been holding Joffrey when his brother had tried to burn him.

All three become more vicious, scheming to protect their precious hatchlings. 

Once all the heir spots are filled and they no longer need to be careful the children come hard and fast. After Joffrey comes:

A fair few are twins and triplets but after 10 years and 14 kids Rhaenyra decides she is done. Luckily Laenor and Rhaeny’s have found something to render her infertile much to her delight. No risks, no need ofr moontea. Harwin and Laenor even take it as well to be doubly sure.

Laena and Daemon have Rhaena, Baela, Baelon, Gaemon, Alyssa, Lucena, Corlae, Aethys, Daenaera, Vaelaena and Monterys.

They also choose infertility after Vaelaena and Monterys.

In total between the two families there are 25 kids. Why do I do this? Because its hilarious and also I think its cute.

Also yes Laena will survive because I said so, fuck you. 

So Whats going on with Viserys and the Greens. 

Well since the families are more cohesive and with encouragement from her partners and In-Laws, Rhaenyra begins ruling as her father gets sicker. By the time Daemon and Laena bring over proper healers he’s already contracted Leprosy and its been badly exacerbated by the Maesters, and Otto and Alicents treatments. Its deep to the point where the healers say that trying the usualy treatments will only kill him. With no Dragon he can;t fight it off and basically it becomes comfort measures to keep him happy and pain free. They help slow it somewhat but once he reaches a certain stage its more cruel to try and slow it and so the decision is made to basically do a Hospice care treatment. Keeping him happy and comfortable. I don;t like Viserys and he needs to be dead but I understand Rhaenyra would try and help him.

Otto was basically kicked out and once Rhaenyra has her family move into Kingslanding they all basically do everything they can to make sure he cannot re-enter. Fuck at one point Harwin, much to Laenor and Rhaenyra’s delight, manages to arrange for the old fool to get fucking syphallis. They still have no idea how he managed that but he did and thats when the Qudrapulets were conceived.

Hightower also begins to suffer politically. After Otto was kicked out and it was proven that the Maesters and Alicent had only made the king sicker they lost control of the education of the Maesters. All education was seperated out to every ruling family in Westeros with a central education centre moved to Kingslanding.

Gwain Hightower and son also suffer, drowning at sea when their bost sunk unexpectedly during a storm. No one ever saw Seasmoke, so well was he camoflaged.

The trio also begin working heavily to help the smallfolk. Healing centres, food banks, better education and a sewer system. It is understanding that people began moving from the Faith to the worship of the 14 gods of Valryria or the Old Gods. The Dragon pit is torn down as well and near the site a temple to the Valryian gods it build and a new Godswood planted in Kingslanding. Soon the other cities of Westeros follow. The Seven are still worshipped, but people are more free to worship who they want.

It is during this time all the Targs find out they are immune to fire. It was Laena and Laenor who found this out. they got into a playfight and accidentally fell into a firepit.Everyone hurried to oull them out but only Corlys and Harwin get burnt.

It is what allows Daemon and Rhaenys to explore Valyria eventually, where they manage to discover lost pieces of their heritage including what they realise is a hatchery containing nearly 100 eggs.

Daemon is feral.

The Dragon keepers are delighted when over half begin to hatch on Dragonstone, they have to quickly train up dozens of new recruits to keep up.

This is also when Rhaena encounters the Cannibal and claims him much to Daemons horror and Laena’s delight. It turns out, from what Rhaena learns from the bond, is that the Cannibal had been a dragon whose rider died in its infancy and the broken bond so young had a egative impact on its psyche, fixed by Rhaena.

All the kids get dragons, I’ll think more on which one later but they all get dragons.

Now on to the key people and Controversially I don’t really like Alicent as a person. I think she is a great character but she does remind me of an estranged family member and gives me the ick. I don’t like Aegon either, little rapey cunt.

So there are two ways I can see this go for these two. Firstly is the good way where Alicent realises that Rhaenyra will be a good queen and chills out. Honestly what I imagine she’ll be happiest doing is either taking on work to help people or joining the faith maybe? Aegon would also have to be raised really well for this good ending, make sure he gets proper rearing and also stays away from drink and child fighting rings. I imagine he would become a traveller, maybe a diplomat of sorts. He would probably never marry but his sister would legitimise the children he has.

Bad version is unfortunately more likely in the timeline of the story. Considering the distrust brewing Alicent would probably always believe Rhaenyra would kill her and her children. But the positive outcomes for Rhaenyra would probably make her move more quickly. She would probably be involved in getting Larys to try and kill Harwin and whne found out she would flee back to Oldtown with Aegon, leaving behind her other children for the sake of the Heir. I imagine they would be hidden for safety and Aegon raise to belive he is king.

The other three I honestly see as more redeemable, Aemond is on thin fucking ice but with the abandonment off his mother at a much younger age and being basically adopted by Rhaenyra he can turn out better. He basically becomes the New Daemon. Fiercely protective of his sister-mother and his siblings and of the fathers who raised him with love and care he becomes a fierce knight and advisor for Jacaerys when he eventually becomes king. 

Helaena is also given a better life. Daemon quickly realises she is a dreamer and whilst there is no training they have available they do everything they can to help her. Journals, soft things, all the bugs she wants. Helaena is a treasure burdened with a terrible gift and they will help her all they can. This eventially involves letting Aemond and her marry. It is obvious she loves her brother and he her, and Rhaenyra wants all her children to marry for love if they can. Also letting Helaena marry outside of the family would just be insane.

Daeron knows that technically he isn’t his sisters child, but she raised him from a baby after retrieving him from Oldtown so as far as he is concerned Rhaeneyra is his Muna and Laenor and Harwin are his Kepa’s. He becomes one of the new people who gather education and teachers for Rhaenyra’s new education centres. he himself eventually marries the next princess of Dorne. 

Now to the drama. In the timeline I picture Oldtown takes Aegon and tries to raise him to be the new King. Rhaenrya does try to find him but she is not successful and soon the Triarchy rise delcaring Aegon the true king. It does not end well at all. Aegon is probably killed during a battle and house Hightower is removed. Soon Oldtown itself is abandonned and nothing is left of Hightower or Oldtown except a few broken ruins. Rhaenyra rules peacefully with her family as the first, but not the last queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

Centuries later King Rhaegar, named for his holy Ancestor Rhaenyra, Ascends the throne when his father deems him ready and Aerys retires for a peaceful life with his beloved wife Rhaella, with his wife the new Queen Lyanna of house Stark. By their sides the King’s dragon Syrax and Queen Lyanna’s direwolf Frost. 

Their first son, their first child of six, Jahaerys Targaryean, affectionately known as Jae by his numerous Targaryean aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins, and Jon by his Stark relatives, is claimed by the Dragon Vermithor at birth and was found with the direwolf pup Ghost after his first night in the cradle. He is born with his father’s dark skin and bright indigo eyes, but with thick black curls streaked with silver and a stern and very Stark face.

When the night King came he found himself against the Prince and his beloved wife and Princess Daenaerys and her dragon SIlverwing along with over a hundred dragons and direwolves, a united kingdom of Westeros, Wildings and children of the forest, and users of magics both ancient and strong.

He never stood a chance.

I KNEW IT WAS YOU!!! It was either you or Ghost who wrote THIS Masterpiece! And I bothered my friends for HOURS because Unravel gave so so much feeling man you CANNOT imagine!! Two idiots in love with each other and that walking Sexy disaster known as Trazyn. (I read that over and over again and there is NO WAY Imotekh isn't in love with Trazyn too 🥹🥹 God that is SUCH a masterpiece.

Orikan's desperation to be loved and be a part of a family while loving someone is so terrifying to them they hate him too as well as whatever he feels for Imotekh...he is SUCH a stubborn mess. I wonder what happened to those 3 pairs of eyes he worked hard to support...

Imotekh just got the short end of the stick. Love turn to hate yet not completely but the effects of their mutual fuck ups also twisted him into a worse version of himself in so many ways. His contradictiry thoughts at times shows how much he is STILL conflicted about...everything. while also continuing to lie to himself about many many things. Wonder what would have happened if he went with Trazyn dragging Orikan kicking and screaming...maybe they'd get the therapy they so deserve. Sennet is probably good at that.

And Trazyn himself...not gonna lie I wonder how he would feel if he remembered everything as Imotekh does...a good deal more depressed I imagine..looking at Solamnace now it is obvious many parts of his family is dead. And while he was having the time of his like in Sautekh dynasty the bonds he created there with tbese two...damn dude gave you guys literal rings how open could he get???? I wonder what would it be like if they took him on his offer. Wouldn't be easy and Orikan would need good GOOD kick in the feels to start reflecting on himself but they could have been the strongest polyamory the universe has ever seen!

I hope you'll write more about these guys! Would be amazing to see a proper necrontyr Orizyn from you ❤️❤️

Canon seems to be marking Trazyn out as a surprisingly well-adjusted person for WH40K standards (I'm aware that bar is at the bottom of the ocean, but still), someone who's principled, if light-years distant from social acceptance. It seemed natural that our disaster couple would be drawn to his stability, if only to learn from him how to make each other so much worse 🙃

Imotekh certainly felt comforted by Trazyn. Whether he could've felt for Trazyn the same passionate love/obsession he felt for Orikan is up for debate, but I think Imotekh could've learned to survive in Gheden with him, and it wouldn't have been as painful as Orikan tried to convince him it would be. He's willing to seal off his acts of love towards Orikan in Trazyn's name, after all, there is an element to which Imotekh sees in Trazyn a lover. Not necessarily a fellow lover, but not necessarily an enemy. A triangulating force that Imotekh feels he and Orikan need to conquer, or else perish... and they did not conquer Trazyn, no sir, the dude barely even knew all this was going on 😩

By the time of biotransference the three pairs of young eyes were no longer young. Saved them from becoming warrior-drones in the conversion, but the life of a necrontyr is already brutal as it is. Chances are that Orikan's siblings did not outlive him - I haven't thought about it much, I admit - and honestly, that may not have been the worst way to go, given the horrors of biotransference.

Ah yes, the rings. 💍 You'll note that Orikan has never worn his, though he still refused to let it go, and Trazyn remembered it enough to gild a homage to it at the end. I don't know if you're familiar with Anglo-Saxon literature (it's my specialty, I'm a medievalist), but there's a kenning meaning 'king/lord' ('beaga bryttan') which literally translates to 'ring-giver'. That's the image I have of all noble/royal characters of older time periods (or inspired by history) - generous, doling out treasure and favours to their retainers, while fully expecting that loyalty to be repaid with their lives if it comes to that.

When Trazyn gave them those rings, he was expressing his adoration of them, while also anticipating either he or his dynasty would have a use for them in the future. It's a contract as well as a gift. If they'd gone through with this throuple successfully, they'd have ended up yielding a lot of control to Trazyn - perhaps for the best, perhaps for the worst, since they'd have been subject to the whims of the Nihilakh Dynasty or Trazyn himself for however long that went on. Nothing is only good or only bad forever. It is a loss of great potential, nonetheless, that Orikan was so utterly unwilling to put in any work to salvage this triad 🤧

I do think the 'how much do they remember' problem is something I could've done a better job of. Trazyn and Orikan remember way too much here compared to their I&D depictions, I fear some of their aspects veer off into OOC territory by the end. That's something I need to work on a bit more, but in the meanwhile I'm glad people enjoyed it all the same 💖

No clue how to do Tumblr so forgive me, gotta save this tho. If only to remind me when I think to myself how lonely it is down here. IM JUST SO?? I want to say excited but don’t want to overreach?? I’ve been pining over this OT4 for MONTHS, have a gigantic fic noted down and 😭😭 I just think they’re NEAT, Atsuhina (ngl nothing else would’ve probably happened if not, the other two aren’t exactly the forthcoming kind) turns into Atsukagehina over the Tokyo Olympics, and slowburn Sakatsu afterwards (I think of how Atsumu doesn’t cope well with TWO long distance BFs) brings him into the fold. Omi fears it’ll be extremely awkward at first, but Kagehina don’t give a crap if he’s “fourth-wheeling” (he and Tsumu have time alone, yes, and so do Kagehina, but they get along fine as a group so…) so he just. Finds himself getting comfy with them both despite it all, and comes to genuinely love the other two, so he’s just like, cuddling with Shoyo (who is, p unintentionally, yet again seducing vb players like it’s no biggie. He’s just glad it’s not another setter, they pointed it out to him that he’s a setter magnet and he’s been in CRISIS ever since) one night and goes “Hey. Wanna just all be… a thing? We don’t have to be boyfriends, but I like all of you?” “Yeah sure” “Cool beans” “How TF am I going to explain this to my parents…?” (I like to HC Omi is somewhere on the greysexual scale (can be into s*x with one of them at a time, all of them, or none of them/repulsed by it, for days to months at a time). He loves all three of them deeply, including Kags, who he’s fine being in the room w/ when it’s time for the occasional B*tchin Bedtime Bash n’ Bonking session (it’s a small party, a, I’d say monthly event at this point. They schedule it, snack breaks and movies n all. Omi sleeps through most of it usually which, frankly, is impressive) but like, I agree with the other reblogger. Omi and Tobio are pretty platonic, but I like to think they really do get close, esp bc I HC they’re both hard on more demi and questioning spectrums — whenever Shoyo and Atsumu sees someone pretty they’re sat there like, what do they see? What do you mean you just saw them and would bang? We took MONTHS, YEARS, to even think about kissing you idiots!! (Atsumu: At least y’all didn’t have to suffer through the bi crisis I had bc of Shoyo in HS. It sucked, worth it tho)

Also, Shoyo absolutely has the most power over ALL of them and it’s a good thing bc he is, by far, the most emotionally intelligent. Honestly it’s barely even a competition, he’s the miracle holding them together 😂 Someone asks “Oh so who wears the pants, y’know lol” “Pants…? Omi or Tobio probably. They’re both completely dressed usually, or naked. Tsumu either wears underwear but no pants, pants but no underwear, no inbetween, always shirtless, and then—” “NO PLS OMG I MEAN WHO’S IN CHARGE” “Oh! Oh that’s honestly me. They rarely say no to me, if I want something someone’s at my beck and call. Sometimes I feel like I’m a shojo harem MC… but I’m the best cook. You bet they listen to who feed them and gives the best cuddles, smh” (The other three: *begrudgingly nodding* He has too much power…)

(Also makes me consider angsty routes where, if Shoyo ends up angsting, or is threatened somehow, it rocks the entire boat. Those three having to work together harmoniously without that steady, warm little thing winding his way between them, brightening otherwise gloomy spots of miscommunication, would be trying. I do have angsty ideas related to the AU but not settled on anything, and they don’t quite feel right, really, so… idk).

While they’d probably keep it to themselves bc god knows irl Japan would have an aneurism seeing them (it seems polyamory is. Nonexistent in their public views?) but boy does it generate the funniest drama. Haikyuu verse shippers going HARD on Twitter, little do they know they skipped all that BS and bought the biggest bed they could (hardest thing to work out honestly, like… that’s three 180+ tall athletes plus Shoyo whose hardly small, and moves a lot— defying all logic, often starting on one side and ending up on the other. They’ve given up on permanent arrangements. Sometimes a dog pile seems easier. Like, Omi and Tobio prefer the furthest ends respectively but Tsumu is a fussy boy who decides he needs snuggles from EVERYONE and then. Shoyo is probably making the pilgrimage to Omi’s side at 3am, apparently, bc Tobio kicked him muttering something about sexy ninjas and nope, not tonight. Yes, when one of their phones goes off it’s an effort getting it to the right destination.

As you might be able to tell I have all too many feelings and thoughts here 😭 It’s the most severe brainrot… and I just KNOW I could make the biggest fic but my motivation’s so bad, I need soundboards to help bounce ideas off. Would be v happy to have someone to ramble to about these four (somehow functioning) idiots in love if anyone’s made it down here and still interested.

A/N: listen i've been working on this since tango said that thing on stream a while ago about contemplating kidnapping someone to get their soulmate to give them things, and i thought: what if they tried to kidnap pearl? so this happened. and it turned into a lot more than that, (including an eventual sequel to this) so enjoy! (also i'm imagining this takes place sometime before the ranch burned)

Warnings: arguing, face slapping, crying, past animal death, necromancy mention, hugs, forehead kisses, polyamory negotiations (not really a warning i guess, just a heads up that this is indeed a fic with romantic pairings haha), dirty jokes

Summary: Tango and Jimmy have a great plan. Kidnap someone's soulmate for ransom- it's totally gonna work. Until it doesn't.

Jimmy and Tango had gotten desperate. More desperate than just begging people for materials. So they decided that the next best option would be to kidnap someone's soulmate and hold them ransom. And after going through their options… they decided Pearl would be their best option.

"Are you sure about this?" Tango asked from where he and Jimmy were crouched in the trees, watching Pearl muddle around on her own.

"What do you mean, this was your idea!" Jimmy replied in a harsh whisper.

"Well yeah, but I mean are we sure about targeting Pearl. She and Scott are kinda on uneasy terms," Tango pointed out.

"Scott will come for her, trust me. He might act all petty and annoyed with people, but he really cares deep down," Jimmy said firmly. Tango shrugged, and pulled a fishing rod out of his inventory.

"You know him better than me," Tango said, and Jimmy fought back a blush at his words.

“That was a long time ago,” Jimmy said wistfully. Tango just smiled, kind and gentle.

“Still. I trust your judgment,” Tango said, before his smile turned a touch devious as he looked back down at Pearl. He whipped the fishing line down, the line coiling around her and the hook catching on her hoodie. She yelped in surprise as Tango reeled her in. Tango tied the line around a sturdy branch, letting Pearl hang above the ground, toes just barely scraping the forest floor. Jimmy jumped from the tree, wings flaring out and giving him a gentle descent down.

“Jimmy, what are you doing?” Pearl asked, sounding more bored than distressed. Jimmy grinned in a way that he hoped was threatening (but judging by Pearl’s unchanged expression, it wasn’t).

“Well you see, Tango and I need materials. And you happened to be on your own,” Jimmy said, attempting more of a sly smirk that go-around. Pearl still wasn’t impressed, and rolled her eyes.

“What makes you think I’ve got anything?” she scoffed. Just then, Tango hopped down beside Jimmy, successfully grinning with enough malice that seemed to make Pearl at least a little unsettled.

“Maybe you don’t- but we’re sure Scott does. Jimmy, be a dear and send the message,” Tango said. Jimmy flushed a bit at the petname, scrambling for his communicator.

“It’s done,” Jimmy said, looking at Pearl with smug defiance. Only to see a vaguely heartbroken expression that Pearl quickly smoothed over.

“You noticed I was alone, right?” Pearl scoffed.

“Well yeah, but only an idiot wouldn’t come for their soulmate,” Jimmy shot back, but it felt a little weak. Especially as his communicator buzzed with a new message.

<Smajor1995> whispered to <SolidarityGaming> I can literally see Cleo across the bridge?

Jimmy just stared down at his communicator in shock. Tango glanced over his shoulder, frowning at the message.

“He’s not coming, is he,” Pearl said, not sounding surprised in the slightest. She looked so… dismal. Jimmy didn’t like the look on her one bit. He scowled and shoved his communicator in his pocket.

“Oh I’ll get him to turn up. He’s just being- being Scott about it. I’ll be back,” Jimmy fumed, not waiting for an answer from Pearl or Tango, heading off in the direction of Scott’s house.

Jimmy stormed up the front steps, sharply calling out for Scott. He stopped outside of his door, foot tapping impatiently on the porch. He didn’t hear anything for a few beats, and decided to just go in. He’d get Scott to talk to him, one way or another.

However, he heard a long-suffering sigh from upstairs once Jimmy shut the door behind him. Soon enough, Scott came sliding down the ladder, stepping out into the main room and crossing his arms at Jimmy.

“You can’t just barge into my house, Jimmy,” he scowled.

“Had to check if you were even here!” Jimmy protested, feathers puffing up a little indignantly. Scott just rolled his eyes.

“Whatever. What do you want?” Scott asked with a bored hum. Jimmy stared at him incredulously, brows furrowed together.

“Wh- did you not see my messages?!” Jimmy sputtered. Scott fixed him with a deadpan stare.

“Obviously I saw them, I replied to you,” Scott replied dryly. Jimmy made a frustrated sound, hands gesturing wildly and wings fluttering a bit in irritation.

“We have Pearl! And we’ll- we’ll hurt her, which’ll hurt you- are you gonna negotiate with us to let her go or not?!” Jimmy sputtered.

“Nah. Like I said, saves me the trouble. I can handle the pain, and besides, you guys can’t even kill her- you’re not red. So what should I care what you do with Pearl,” Scott scoffed. Jimmy just stared at Scott for a few moments in openmouthed shock.

"You're supposed to care about her, she's your soulmate!" Jimmy cried, vaguely wondering how the Scott before him was the same one who had cared so much about people in his previous lives.

"Better to abandon someone then to be the one abandoned," Scott said bitterly. Jimmy gritted his teeth, the slight pang of guilt being overwhelmed by anger on Pearl's behalf.

"That's not fair- she doesn't deserve that, Scott!" Jimmy fumed.

"Oh yeah? What about what I deserve?! Every time I end up on a world like this, I've ended up alone. Is it so bad that I want a chance to do things my way?!" Scott snapped. Guilt crawled up Jimmy’s throat- as did memories of a date crafted for him that Jimmy didn’t quite know how to respond to, him vowing to kill a Scott with red eyes and glinting fangs, and coming across Scott life after life but never being sure if he was supposed to reach out to him again or just leave things alone- but he shoved it all down. This was about Pearl, not them.

"Scott, don't make this about us," Jimmy said lowly. That caused Scott to snap, tears gathering in his eyes as he stormed closer to Jimmy. He kept advancing, and Jimmy wasn't able to scramble away in time before Scott slapped him across the face.

"When has it ever been about us?!" Scott got out in a shallow sob, suddenly seeming much meeker than before. Jimmy could only hold his stinging cheek in shock as he stared at Scott.

Luckily Jimmy didn't have to say anything, as Tango rushed in. Pearl was lagging behind him, still looking so distant from the Pearl that Jimmy had known… he was beginning to wonder if he had really known anyone at all, with how today was going.

Tango glanced around frantically, eyes finally landing on Jimmy’s hand holding his cheek. He took Jimmy into his arms, his eyes blazing red as he glared at Scott.

"Don't you ever touch my soulmate again, you hear me? And I'm taking Pearl with me, and you're gonna leave us alone, clear?" Tango growled, flames licking at his limbs (but the fire stayed away from Jimmy, he noticed with a flutter) and threatening to set the wooden house ablaze.

"Crystal," Scott replied evenly, eyes cold as ice (and that just made Jimmy’s heart ache even more- he remembered a Scott like that with ice in his eyes, words and touch).

Tango and Scott glared at each other for a few moments, until Tango seemed satisfied and he turned to leave. Jimmy lingered for a moment, staring at Scott with a heartbroken expression, before Tango gently tugged him along. Pearl followed the pair of soulmates like a ghost, tossing one faraway glance at Scott before she left the house with them.

The walk back to the ranch was eerily quiet. Even Tilly, who they stopped to pick up from Pearl’s base area, seemed unusually quiet for a dog.

“I brought her back to life, y’know,” Pearl said, breaking the silence. Jimmy jumped a little when she spoke.

“Uhh… what?” he asked.

“Yeah, she died. But it’s okay, cause I brought her back! So I guess she’s on yellow now,” Pearl said, the cheeriness in her voice throwing Jimmy off a little. Thankfully, Tango swooped in with a reply.

“Guess that means you can bring back any animals that die at the ranch!” Tango said with a grin.

“I can sure try! Honestly don’t know if I can do it again- I just was sad and lonely when Tilly died, and all I could think about is how I didn’t want to be alone again. I just wanted her back- and then she perked right up!” Pearl said, something… otherworldly creeping into her voice before turning cheery once again. Jimmy had only heard that tone with her a few times before… maybe it was a mistake bringing one of them into the ranch. On the other hand, a Watcher wasn’t a bad ally to have.

“Well, you don’t need to be lonely anymore. You’ve got us,” Jimmy said softly. Pearl stopped in her place, just a few feet away from the ranch’s gate.

“Promise?” she asked, voice fragile. Jimmy held out his arms to her with a smile.

“Promise,” Jimmy said, and that was all Pearl needed to leap into his arms and hug him tightly. Tango exchanged a mildly concerned look with Jimmy over her head, likely concerned about Pearl’s explanation of Tilly’s revival. Jimmy just gave him a reassuring smile. They wouldn’t regret bringing Pearl in. Probably.

After getting Pearl properly settled in (she took quite a liking to the goats, and volunteered her time to breeding them and getting their horns), Jimmy was positively exhausted. The day had been more exhausting than it should have been, and Jimmy settled heavily on the edge of his bed with a long exhale. He buried his face in his hands, but still registered Tango walking into their room.

"How are you doing?" Tango asked softly. Jimmy let out a trembling sigh, hand rubbing at where Scott had struck him, even if the sting from the hit was long gone.

"Is it alright if I don't know?" Jimmy said meekly. Tango gave a pitying frown, and sat down next to Jimmy on the bed. He gently pulled Jimmy’s hand away from his face, squeezing it tightly.

"Of course it's alright if you don't know, that was… a lot," Tango soothed. Jimmy let out a shuddering sigh, rubbing at his eyes with his free hand.

"I just… he's so different. Even on worlds where we weren't- uh, together, he was always my friend. And he's been snarky and teasing and stuff before but- but nothing like this," Jimmy managed to get out wetly. Tango gave a sympathetic hum, leaning over to press his lips to Jimmy’s brow. Jimmy involuntarily followed him when he pulled his head away, and with a rumbling huff of laughter Tango pulled him to lean against his chest. His hand rubbed over Jimmy’s back, gentle touches between his wings.

"Y'know, Grian was… weird after that first world too. I didn't hang around him much on Hermitcraft, but he was definitely distant. Agitated too. And that kinda transferred into the next iteration of this- you would know, you were in the Southlands with him. So I guess… the isolation of being the sole survivor of a death game does something to people. No wonder this world has us connected to someone. We don't have to survive alone," Tango said after a few beats of silence. Jimmy turned over what Tango had said in his head, and thought about Scott on Empires, and in that strange realm between realms where they would reincarnate into something else each time they died. Scott had seemed normal on Empires… but that other realm was where things had really begun to change. And really, they had all changed after Empires.

"I guess an apocalyptic event doesn't help either," Jimmy said a little guiltily. Tango's hand paused, a burning (thankfully not in the literal sense) touch between his wings.

"What do you mean?" Tango asked, and if Jimmy hadn't been so lost in painful memories, he would have noticed the tremble in his voice.

"On Empires, there was a big explosion that I sort of caused. And that explosion caused a whole chain of events to set off, and the world ended. We all lost things that day. I think Scott lost more than he let on- honestly it was after that world that I really noticed a change in Scott," Jimmy explained.

"I see," Tango said softly, hand resuming its motion, a gentle pressure at the base of Jimmy’s wings. Jimmy let out an involuntary pleased chirp, melting in Tango's hold. Tango gave an answering little rumble, and Jimmy felt at peace for a moment. That is, until an ugly series of thoughts came rearing back at him.

“Tango?” Jimmy asked, voice meek and soft again.

“Yeah?” Tango replied, and his voice was warm and welcoming and home- and that thought of home was Jimmy’s final breaking point. Because Scott was home once. But now Tango was home to him too.

“I think I’m still in love with him,” Jimmy got out through a sob, curling into Tango while he still could, until he was inevitably shoved away. Because he couldn’t be in love with Scott- not anymore. He and Tango were soulmates now.

But Tango didn’t push him away. If anything, Tango held him tighter, and a hand drifted up to run through Jimmy’s hair. Jimmy just sobbed a little harder, unsure as to why he was still being treated so gently. He swallowed nervously, pulling away a bit to look up at Tango.

“But- but I shouldn’t be. Cause we’re soulmates,” Jimmy managed to get out. Tango looked down at him with a perplexed frown.

“Jimmy… I have multiple partners, remember?” Tango said slowly. Jimmy blinked up at him incomprehensibly.

“What?” he asked, voice distant. Tango cursed a little under his breath, hand leaving Jimmy’s hair to rub the back of his own neck sheepishly.

“Ah. I thought you knew- kinda forgot you aren’t on Hermitcraft. But yeah, Impulse and Zedaph are my partners too. So it’d be kinda dumb of me to not be okay with you wanting another partner- and to be honest, I went into this thinking you and Scott were still an item,” Tango said with a nervous laugh. Jimmy flushed a bit at Tango thinking he and Scott were still together, but he was a bit more busy with reeling from the new information Tango gave him.

“Wait, that’s an option? Being with more than one person?” Jimmy asked, dumbfounded. Tango let out a light laugh.

“Of course it is- but if you’d rather it’d just be you and me, that’s fine too. I’d have to talk things over with Impulse- we usually keep our relationship open during these sorts of things, but I’m sure he’d be fine if we did things differently this go-around-”

“No! I mean- I- I’m okay with it,” Jimmy blurted. Tango looked at Jimmy with mild concern.

“Are you sure? Because it’s totally okay if you just want it to be me and you. You don’t even have to pursue anything with Scott if it’s too much to deal with,” Tango offered. Jimmy shook his head.

“No, I’m sure. Although… I don’t know if things are really looking great with Scott right now anyway,” Jimmy sighed. To Jimmy’s surprise, Tango flushed a little.

“Yeah, I did kinda give him a piece of my mind, huh,” he said sheepishly. Jimmy laughed humorlessly.

“Things were already going downhill with me and Scott. I doubt you made much of a difference,” Jimmy said, refusing to meet Tango’s gaze. Tango just pulled him back against his chest, running a hand through his hair again.

“Still. I feel bad. And I swear to you I’ll help you mend things with Scott, if that’s what you really want,” Tango said firmly. Jimmy looked up at Tango with wide eyes.

“Really?” he asked, voice small and disbelieving.

“Really. Unless he keeps slapping you around- although I guess if you want that we could talk it out…” Tango trailed off with a smirk. Jimmy squeaked, face going red.

“Oh my gosh I have a type,” Jimmy managed to get out, voice strained. This time it was Tango’s turn for his face to flush as he made a flustered sound.

“What’s that supposed to mean?!” Tango got out with a startled laugh.

“Scott would’ve said something similar,” Jimmy said, voice going soft and wistful. Even if he was reminiscing about his ex-husband making dirty jokes and innuendos.

“Okay yeah that’s it, I am definitely helping you two get back together. You’ve got it so bad for him,” Tango teased. Jimmy honest to goodness giggled, burying his face in Tango’s chest again. He missed the warm, fond smile Tango gave at the sound because of it, but he got the jist of it through Tango’s rumbling hum and the way he held him close. Things felt uncertain, with the tension between himself and Scott, as well as Pearl living on the ranch with them now- but somehow, in this moment? Jimmy felt like everything would work out.

Xiaobedo Fanfic Recommendation

Welcome to my personal “if you are new to xiaobedo peeps please read these” list. As said before this is my personal list so please feel free to reblog/comment/hit me for not including any gem here. I might miss a lot of them because I am drunk or blind. (mostly have them on my to read and then forgot as I am being assault by real life shit).

I would like to say first that so far there are 150+ Xiaobedo fics on Ao3. I can’t review all of them but I can say that I have read a majority of them. Most of them are just pure love and I would like nothing more than a thousands thank you for all the fic writers who spent their free time writting these gems for us to read for free. But these...these takes the cake as it finds a special landing spot in my heart that I would just thrust them into someone’s hand if they say “I am new to this ship can you recommend me?”

1. Orange dust by bobamilkteas (Wes)

In which Xiao learns to open himself up to the world a little more after the collapse of Rex lapis's contracts but it was not always easy for a soul doomed to eternal damnation. Meanwhile, Albedo liked to tempt fate where the extraordinary are concerned.

If only the traveler's comrades are made of saner bunch.

Comment: Long ago when I like both Albedo and Xiao as a character, I was wondering hmmm....will anyone actually even write about them lmao they never met each other. I am surprise to see this one as the 3rd fic in the whole 3 Xiaobedo fic on Ao3 (yeah back when there’s literally only 3 fic for this couple). I was like I’ll read it for the curiosity, I’ll probably won’t ship them. And that people is how I put my clown make up on my face upon finishing reading it. This ONE fic alone convert me into a devotee of Xiaobedo. Please consider joining me in this circus if you want to know what is Xiaobedo. I would put this as the first of my “Big 3″

Comment: Do you like crying? Do you like the feeling of getting your heart ripped into pieces as the author destroy your emotions over the end of each chapter as the story picked up the climax? Yeah, this one is for you masochists. The action, the characterisation, the drama THE EMOTIONS OH WOW. I kid you not that it was so good I read this while workinng when I am not suppose to me. Also, this fic has my favourite characterisation of Gold ever. I love that dramatic queen Mad Alchemist. AND DAIN. I LOVE DAIN IN THIS FIC. Our dearest Sparrow manage to toy with our feelings like how I bully ruin guard for big numbers lmao. This is the secound of “Big 3″ of my Xiaobedo list.

3. Castle of Glass by AlchemicalStardust (Morgie) 

A black shadow rises over Huaguang Stone Forest. Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, Albedo flees the shaking ground and the crash of boulders tumbling form the sky. As the dust settles, Albedo finds a young man – an Adeptus – amidst the carnage. Despite the karmic agony ripping his body from the inside, Xiao’s only question is “How?” How did a human survive after witnessing his battle?

Comment: The last of the “Big 3″ of my Xiaobedo list. And it is still on going! Castle of Glass? More like I AM IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTIONS! Have you read a fic about 2 people yearning, longing, reaching out for each other so damn well that you just want to throw your phone in the air as they both had their impending doom coming down upon them? Yeah this is one of them. You will like want to be stuck in the moment they express how much they just yearn for each other’s love and care that you want to shake the author for what comes next. Like...everytime Morgie update I am expressing my gratitude at the end of the chapter by writing on Xiaobedo discord “MORGIE COME HERE AND LET ME BONK YOU WHY ARE YOU ENDING IT THERE”

trust me when you read you will def feel the same. With just Big 3 and their compliation alone that would give you like a LONG list of reading already LMAOOOOOOO

4. Find a place to call it home  by yamajiroo 

Our room, he said. Xiao’s brow twitches. Zhongli never said anything about this. But then again, perhaps he should anticipate this from the beginning...

Xiao looks over at Albedo, who is now tilting his head, his look as innocent as ever.

“Are you not okay with sharing a room?”

Comment: College AU for Xiaobedo! One thing that I love this is the slow burn and what made me LOVE LOVE LOVE this fic more is how cute Klee is in this fic. Their relationship in this one is very simple, but that simplicity highlight why their chemistry work. Xiao is someone who was just very gentle, who was largely misunderstood by his lonesome nature. Albedo was someone who like peace and quite in his introvert bubble. And how they respect that bubble that each other has actually made their relationship work. I love it when fic highlight this and this one captures it.

5. I Can't See Your Face From the Other Side of the Classroom by MissWeaver  

When Albedo and Xiao unexpectedly start eating lunch together, they begin to find that they have more in common than anyone would have realized. They both struggle in their own ways with blossoming feelings, too many assignments, and annoying classmates as they navigate a relationship for the first time.

Comment: I’ll be honest, I usually hate high school au just because its so cliche. I don’t even watch and drama/anime surrounds high school student anymore LMAOOO (unless it’s very good). So if there’s an high school AU that I actually keep come back and read after a couple of chapters, it means that the cliche that I hate wasn’t there or barely was there at all. The pinning in this fic makes me want to bang their head together sometimes LMAOOO The tag wasn’t kidding when they said both Xiao and Albedo are bad at feelings. Also that’s a lot of heart broken caused by these two idiots XD

6. new world, same me, same bullshit  by  bobamilkteas (Wes)

At the belly of Dragonspine, Albedo lost control to the festering corruption that permeated his senses and watched, from the recesses of his mind, as his devoured body turned his allies into enemies. Before his rampage reached its climax, he is sealed in a crystalized confinement by the last hand of Reindottir, where he then reawakens centuries after, in a rebooted Teyvat.

Comment: Yeah I know it was list in Orange Dust but here me out. This sets out in an entirely different universe. And if you like Polyamory, this one has Zhongli joining the duo and I love it because I also love ZhongXiao with my life. Time Travel is my biggest kink. Especially when I am the person who love it when people explore Archon War era/ Alatus!Xiao. So this one hits double of my kink. Of course it is still on going and I will bully Wes whenever I can to see that new chapter. Albedo is a total fucking badass in this story and I completely agree from using him in Abyss so often. Everyone should write badass Albedo.

7. misplaced heart of mine by  inkburn           

“If you are ill, then you should be resting at home. In Mondstadt.” He emphasized Mondstadt with a pointed look in his direction.

“I assure you I won’t be troublesome, Adeptus Xiao,” Albedo said, “You’ll find I’m a rather low-maintenance traveler.”

“Travel,” Xiao scoffed, “without airstep?”

Albedo looked him up and down. “Are your legs just for decoration?”

(albedo is sent to liyue on mandatory vacation. xiao is his unfortunate bodyguard.)

Comment: Have you ever look at Xiao fight and thinking that he’s one of the most beautiful deadly thing ever? How it was like he was dancing around the battlefield? How about actual dancer Xiao being so absolutely beautiful and perfect and that slow burn of Albedo falling in love with that beauty with a touch of Modern AU and cute Ganyu as the Wing woman. Yes, Sparrow delivers yet again another beautiful slow burn and while it’s still ongoing it is worth the read.

Comment: A short one-shot where I read the summary and went “This is it... this is their relationship.” I am sold immediately. Oh god Albedo why are you like this.

“Xiao,” he said. “You were rescued by an adeptus.”

When a visit to Dragonspine goes horribly wrong, Albedo is rescued by an unknown stranger, wielding powers he's never heard of. Led on a search to find out who it is, he finds himself in the middle of an unforgettable encounter..

Comment: A really really well written one-shot that I love. The yearning oh godddd the yearning from Albedo side is just so so much that I have to put it here. (I think you can see the trend here lmao. I am a sucker for yearning). And the moment they get to meet each other again is just chef kiss. MWHAA

11. Idle Yaksha, Brilliant Yaksha by Pit0fTheEarth

Alatus didn’t have a lot of responsibilities to keep. He spent most of his days dancing across the sky and eating away all nightmares that plagued a person’s sleep.

But one fortunate encounter led to too many unfortunate ones, taking his carefree existence and plunging it in darkness. His wings, stripped from him. His gentle touch, replaced by an unforgiving grip of destruction.

There was a lot of blood on his hands. With each passing moment, it became harder for Alatus to recall the last time someone gently held him.

Comment: This is one of the ongoing fic where I am very very much excited on the take of Naberius. And the way the author portray Xiao when he’s still the innocent Alatus is just *clench fist*. Baby ;w; Baby why do you have to lose all that innocence. Also the fic has long LONG flashback to Xiao past and his relationship with Naberius. We are unwielding more what happened to both of them and why perhaps does this have to do with Albedo.

Leviathan enters an envy-fueled rage.

He'll scream, cry, degrade himself, and demean you for your actions.

Might break some things (Mostly accident with his tail), but tends to target his rage towards you or the sibling whose company you seem to be enjoying most.

He'll fight with his brothers like he normally does in any other situation; passive aggressive, yet violent in his words. With you it's a different story.

Leviathan becomes a whole new beast, digging his fingers into your skin to leave lasting marks and attempting to drag you up towards his room for further punishment.

Will not let you forget what you did, and expects an apology.

Satan

At first it doesn't really bother him too much.

Of course you have a favorite. You're human afterall.

Then he notices how close you and Mammon have become.

Despite how the second eldest has treated you the same way as the others by kidnapping you and locking you up in the house, you still like him.

Even though Mammon is an idiot who isn't worthy of your affection, you hang off him like some groupie.

Really, this isn't an easy thing for him in most circumstances.

On one hand you're happy; comfortable in the arms of his brother.

And on the other hand, you're in the arms of his brother most of the time.

Unless it's Belphie, Beel tends to try and steer you away from getting too close to the others.

He knows they help keep you here (where you belong), but it breaks his heart having to share with them.

Beel will do his best to prove himself better.

Even if the display of love is a bit grisly.

Expect little bloody tokens of affection left in your room!

Belphegor

Belphie can absolutely sense the fact he's not your favorite.

Even if you din't show any favoritism, like extra affection, he just knows.

And it really pisses him off.

(Yes, he knows he killed you, but he's trying to make up for that by loving and protecting you now!)

GASTON from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Justification:

"I'm uncertain that polyamory could save Gaston… But it is an idea that I think is interesting and worth exploring! Personally I think that Gaston could be a genuinely interesting character! He may act like a brute and an idiot, but throughout the events of the film we see that he's actually decently intelligent. It's just that he and the rest of the villagers don't value intelligence. Yes, he's a jerk, but so is Adam at the start of the film, and up until the climax, Gaston doesn't really do anything worse than what Adam does as the Beast! Sure, they're both rude towards Belle, but Gaston doesn't yell at her nor threaten her with physical violence like the Beast does. Both end up trying to manipulate Belle into staying with them. And yes, Gaston tries to get Maurice locked up in an insane asylum… But Adam had LITERALLY locked Maurice up in a prison cell before this! It's really mostly the attempted murder and using the villagers fear of the unknown to rally them to help him that makes Gaston worse than Adam. Which is a lot, I know, but Gaston really isn't much worse than Adam before that point. But Adam gets a chance to redeem himself! And Gaston doesn't. But if Belle can save Adam from being a monster through the power of love… Who's to say that a similar power of love couldn't have saved Gaston too…? After all, who's to say that Gaston wasn't able to see how beautiful Belle was on the inside…?

Personally I just think that it would be fascinating to explore like… What if Gaston had gotten a chance to redeem himself alongside Adam? What if Gaston went with Belle to the castle and they were held prisoner there together? It would certainly level the power imbalance between Adam and Belle out a bit. And who knows? hi! So I have being thinking (or observing) lately, how people prefer lu//ka over ni//no (I mean lu//ka is shoved everywhere but thats not the point). Like lu//ka is praised for being chill, akumatized for someone else, being 'musical', protective, etc (honestly ni//no has more qualities unlike... Yeah). And it just bothers me so much idk. I mean pocs are always side eyed in favour of white characters that's not new but I guess the is-ni//no-actually-lu//ka (though a v fun crack idea) (1/n)

Not at all! I’ve also noticed how Nino is increasingly shoved to the side to make room for Luka, aka a generic “rebellious” white boy who looks like he never showers and his mum dresses him and whose interest in a younger girl is so creepy that he had to be retconned to be her age. And I don’t get it, because Nino has an actual fleshed-out personality considering his lack of screentime:

he’s impulsive and super protective of those he loves, to the point where he jumps into battle repeatedly against a literal supervillain who could crush him into a paper ball without effort if she really wanted to

but he can also be stubborn and drag his heels in, like in ‘Horrificator’ over the kiss scene that Alya didn’t include

he also got akumatised over his impulsiveness because he was so angry for his best friend

and yes, that’s different to Luka getting angry for Marinette in ‘Silencer’ because

he didn’t give a flying damn about the rest of the band, just the girl whose pants he wanted in

he didn’t actually??? Confront XY and Roth directly??? He just stood there trying to get Marinette to leave and then when she was threatened, he just stood there and stewed. Compare that to Nino, who actively went on the attack at Gabriel to try and fight for Adrien and damn the consequences

he’s got varied interests and personality outside of his DJing. He loves filmmaking, he’s goofy (think ‘Puppeteer 2’), he gets flustered easily, he parkours with Alya in their free time, he loves Just Dance...there’s so much more to him than just ‘plays an instrument and makes fun of a pretty girl for stuttering’

his self-worth issues! He didn’t think he was worthy of being a superhero, that he could defend Alya in an arm wrestle... I don’t know what Luka thinks of himself. I don’t even know if he thinks

he’s so selfless and loyal! Remember ‘Zombizou’, where he stayed behind so Alya wouldn’t be a zombie alone even though she wouldn’t have a clue once everything was fixed? Where he went in to bat for Adrien in ‘Bubbler’ even knowing he could be making an enemy out of a powerful and influential man? Where he stuck by Adrien in ‘Jackady’ and made sure he was safe? What has Luka done in comparison? And before people insist that he’s barely had any screentime, they also insist that Nino has no personality because he’s hardly ever on screen too and yet I can pick all of this about Nino, so they can’t have it both ways

And you’re bang-on with characters of colour being shoved aside for white ones. You see it in how Chloé replaces Alya as Marinette’s best friend despite being a literal horrific bully while Alya has been there for Marinette through thick and thin and is the literal reason why Marinette became Ladybug not just once but twice. You see it in the colourism (preferring lighter skin shades and features over darker ones) where Kagami has all but replaced Alya as a love interest for Marinette and sometimes even as her best friend because Alya is Lila’s new bestie. And that’s not to say that Kagaminette ship and friendship are bad! I love love LOVE them to bits and Kagami is one of my favourite characters of all time. But I hardly ever see Alyanette anymore in favour of Kagaminette, and even just Alya and Marinette best friend stuff because Kagami has essentially replaced Alya. And that’s also a common salt thing too; if it’s not Chloé replacing Alya, it’s Kagami.

Don’t get me wrong, Kagami is very much a POC. She’s faced a hell of a lot of undeserved backlash and awful treatment for being the “bitchy ice queen” and even fetishisation (don’t get me started please or I won’t shut up but some of the stuff I’ve seen has made me physically nauseous at the Asian fetishisation). But at the end of the day, I’ve personally seen her treated “better” than Alya...if by “better” you mean fetishised, which is a large part of why I don’t trust 90% of other Adrigaminette and Kagaminette fans. The way she’s treated compared to Alya looks more positive but it’s still fetishism and racism. She’s just not outright bashed as much as Alya because colourism and specifically anti-Black racism, as subconscious as it might sometimes be.

And that racism and colourism (which I most definitely had a point with I swear) is something that ties into the Luka and Nino thing, where people with lighter features are preferred over people with darker features. Luka has 1/100 the personality that Nino does and get he gets 100 times the love that Nino does. He also has people gushing over his appearance and how he’s a “hot bad boy” but I never see people loving Nino for his dark skin, for his brown eyes, for his prominent nose...for anything, really.

(Not to get personal but as a fellow Arab who also has brown eyes and a nose that’s not thin and dainty and is very obviously non-white and something I hated for years, that shit hurts)

Like, if someone doesn’t like Kagami, most of the time she’s just ignored as a character and the author/artist doesn’t touch on her. But if someone doesn’t like Alya? Instead of just having her be friends with other girls instead or just naturally drift apart from Marinette (which uh is still not cool), they go wild on her, turning her into an aggressive bitch who’s obsessed with her scoops and getting Adrien and Marinette together even at the cost of Marinette’s happiness. They take her flaws and wildly exaggerate them to justify hating her (don’t ask about the sheer vitriol I saw in the aftermath of ‘Feast’ over a mistake that Luka would just be coddled for). And while it’s not as prominent, because Alya is at the intersection of being a girl and a POC - especially a Black girl - and cops double the crap, I’ve also seen Nino demonised into a spineless idiot who just stands by and lets things happen instead of...you know, the boy who literally rushed a spider supervillain to save his girlfriend, knowing he could die very easily.

I just want some wholesome Adrino 😔 There’s all this “Luka would show Adrien how to rebel and just gets how he feels” and blah but like...Adrien already knows how to rebel. He just does it in little safe ways because he’s an abused kid, rather than doing what the salters think he should do and turning into a generic copy of Luka without a thought for the consequences that Gabriel can inflict on him because he’s still a kid under his parent’s “care”. And Nino already gets how Adrien feels! He’s Adrien’s best friend! He knows what to say to Adrien and how to be there for him without having to resort to strumming a guitar and telling Adrien how he feels like Luka does to Marinette.

Nino was Adrien’s first friend. Nino’s been there for Adrien through thick and thin, through having an arse of a parent who forces him to be flaky and unreliable with hangouts. Nino is physically affectionate with Adrien without throwing himself all over him like Chloé and Lila do. Nino’s actions as an akuma were to make his best friend happy. And yet people still seem to think that Luka both loves Adrien more and is a better choice for him. Why??? All Luka would do is sit there and play his guitar. Luka is his music and nothing else but Nino...Nino has so much more to him than just his DJing.

I feel like part of it is not wanting to break up DJWiFi, which...okay, valid. That’s one of my favourite ships of all time because they’re so darn happy and cute together and it makes me melt to see two POC happy together. I personally would turn to polyamory because I want massive cuddle piles. But if you don’t want that and you’re deadset on Lukadrien (😬) then just...don’t shove Nino to the side. Continue to include Nino as Adrien’s best friend and give him appropriate screentime and character growth outside of being a cardboard cutout friend. It’s not an either-or thing like so many people seem to think, and platonic friendships are just as important as romantic relationships.

Hello everyone! If you saw @ad1thi‘s recent fic rec post going around, you know she got the idea from me. I had the idea a few months ago of doing a roundup of my favorite fics from 2020 at the end of the year because, let’s be honest with ourselves, I read a lot over the last twelve months, partially because this year, I really started settling into my own in fandom but mostly because this year was an absolute shitshow and I needed a distraction from everything going on outside my tiny apartment. I know it’s been a hard year for everyone and while there’s hope that next year might be a little better, there’s no guarantee so here are some of the fics that helped me get through this year. I hope you all like them as well.

Fics are organized by month and range over a variety of fandoms and ships. Since some of these are multi-chapters, I’ve organized them according to what date the last chapter posted. This got a little long so I’ve broken this up into 4 parts to be reblogged over the next two weeks.
