You know after reading and reading and reading peoples theories and the meta from before the spn finale aired and the meta writers reactions to the finale I think I have a theory of my own. We don't have any answers tho, so this is pure speculation. If you wanna add something to support or discredit any of this that's cool but there's too many things floating around. Know I dont have proof for this conclusion at all. A lot of what I say is just guesses based on previous facts.
This all came together in my head when I realized how much this finale REEKS of the original producers and who the show was originally for. It REEKS of Robert Singer. Like if the execs started saying they didn't want it, Robert Singer was the one pushing that the story was about the brothers. That kinda thing.
Then, I was thinking of the problems in this episode and it struck me these are all of Supernatural biggest issues and to be honest all of it feels completely deliberate.
Take the sexism for example, Supernatural in it's later seasons largely out grew this, we have Jody, Rowena, Donna, Charlie, Mary, Claire (and even a wayward sisters pilot with MORE women/girls) all making regular appearances. They're mainly good characters and mostly aren't there to hurt our boys. Rowena, of course, is the one outlier being very about herself but it's clear she still cares for them, I mean its part of her development. But they're all real, with character flaws just like everyone else. (And we have Death too and she was POC 😭 THANK GOD)
Now look at the earlier half of Spn, we have Ellen and Jo, who's appearances were far in between. There's Bela in season 3, recurring for quite a bit (5 eps), but she is a character that is only there for herself, definitely not found family (unlike Ellen & Jo), and she's got more episodes in season 3 than Ellen and Jo in season 2 who aren't seen again til season 5. The "fans" send in hate mail after hate mail to try to get these characters off, and eventually they are. Then there's Ruby who's character stayed for a whole two seasons and was a largely recurring character. Why does she get to say so long? She's a plot device. She's supposed to be there to betray Sam. She has to stay (plus Jared obviously likes her). But she's not just a character the writers like writing about. Same with Lilith. Obviously not as recurring but still a plot device. Did they get hate mail tho? You can bet on it. Why? because tHeY'rE gOnNa PuSh ThE bOyS (Dean and Sam) aPaRt ThE sHoW iS aBoUt ThE bOyS oNlY. Without even thinking about the hate mail, just notice how large the difference is from how women are seen in the earlier seasons to the later seasons. Misha got tons of hate mail too for being a character that could split up the boys (probably only being allowed to say because he a man, thanks sexist producers and execs).
Only after Castiel was killed off and then Castiel fans successfully (thank you guys) got him back on the show did the hate mail largely simmer, which means female character's were allowed to stay! Which has lead us to a show with a good amount of female characters. But can you imagine having to kill characters off time and time again because people keep complaining that the show is "only about the boys." Fun times really.
So now we get to this final and we see sexism. But it wasn't just the plain old regular sexism you find in the earlier days of spn. Because now, there ARE women to talk about, talk to. But this episode was DESOLATE women wise, unless they were used for plot (which is also sexist!). Small scenes, they're barely there. Women gets her tongue cut out. Random women from s1 gets killed. Sam doesn't SPEAK of Eileen. Nothing. No mention of any female characters from the boys mouths unless they were from/in this episode itself. That's WIERD. I know we've all said it. But that goes beyond forgetting about characters. I mean its SAM'S GIRLFRIEND for Christ's sake. There is NO REASON they couldn't have said Eileen's name. Notice how Sam's wife is just... faceless. This is literally an age old sexist trope. Like... one of the things about bringing Mary back to life for s12+ is that it takes this trope... of basically a generic mother, and gives her life and feelings, whether you like them or not, they're real feelings. They said Mary isn't just a mom she's a person. Mary's existence in the later half of spn is to fix this kind of female tropes that fall upon her character, to not let these her stay a 2 dimensional character. They said we should know she's more than just the mom who tried to save her kid. Do that is the exact opposite of Sam getting a nameless, faceless wife. The sexism of the old spn wasn't just brought back, it was completely amplified. It wasn't just accidental or some exec "fixing" the story it was DELIBRATE. Whoever wrote that, didn't do ALL OF THAT by accident. Because an exec or a producer who doesn't see the flaws in old supernatural isn't going to write it that deliberately.
Let's bring it back to s10 when Charlie was killed (singer was mainly to blame). Dead in the bathtub, age old classic of burying ur gays. If you were here you know people never let Supernatural live that down. THEY KNOW what bury ur gays means. Hell, Robbie Thompson left because of Charlie's death and you think the writers don't know what it means? I mean both Bobo Berens (especially) and Steve Yockey's careers are centered around LGBT+ storytelling and you think they don't know? They know. They know.
And Dean wasn't just apart of the bury your gays trope, it is so far BEYOND that. Dean being killed on a rusty nail/screw, the tongues ripped out, things that seemed to be meant for other people. Jensen's acting in the last two episodes was giving us "DEAN RECIPROCATES" but no one ever actually saying it. I think it's clear that Dean was killed for being Bi. They didn't address it for a reason, they just silenced him. His narrative was supposed to be about letting him be HIM for the first time, to say what his feelings are instead of having them miscommunicated, and instead of doing that, they just silenced him. And the more we look at this scene the more horrific it gets. The more it's a complete slap in the face and it's supposed to be. Some guy who knows nothing about the LGBT can't write a scene this horrific.
Some guy who knows nothing about Dean couldn't write a scene that deconstructs all of Dean's character development and gives Dean his worst nightmare. I MEAN DEAN WANTED TO LIVE HIS LIFE! THEY DIDNT HIDE THAT JOB APPLICATION (or whatever job related thing that was) IN THERE FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST SITUATION. Dean isn't Barney from HIMYM. If you watched HIMYM then you'll know Barney went from being a stereotypical ladies man and treating women terribly to being in love with a women and treating her right and working hard for it. The last episode of HIMYM (why its so bad) Barney's character development is thrown out and he's back to being a stereotypical ladies man. You don't need to know Barney's character very much to do that.
To kill Dean during a hunt his father never finished, to not have anyone at his funeral, to have Dean die young like his life didn't matter. Those are Dean's worst fears and you'd only truly know that if you watched the gin episode in s3, where they are basically laid out for you. You HAVE to know Dean's character to tear him apart like this.
This episode took all the core elements of the show and did a complete 180° the name of the episode itself is "Carry on" and Dean and Sam very much did not carry on. Sam grieving his entire life so that he good get to heaven and see Dean again. Dean being ready to live his life, despite the enormous pitfalls and learning to love himself only to be killed. "Family don't end with blood." Um.... it did in that episode either literally with Dean's death or you know BECAUSE NONE OF THEIR FOUND FAMILY WAS THERE. Not Jack, Not Cas, Not Eileen, Not Donna, Not Charlie, Not Jody, Not Claire... on and on we go. No one was there, nobody was even mentioned. Dean's funeral, no one even called that we know of. It was just Sam and Dean. Sam and Dean. And Bobby. Don't forget Bobby. But yeah Sam and Dean.
That's what the show is about right, the brothers.
Except it's not anymore. It hasn't been for years.
Cas not being there was deafening but it brought us to a major point. Becky. Becky's telling us about the terrible ending.
And many of us are wondering why would they literally tell us this is the worst ending and then... make it the ending.
Now before we move on, it very apparent many of you think Dabb doesn't ship Deancas. And Dabb doesn't care about the characters.
Say what you will about any plot holes in his writing, the point he is VERY GOOD at writing the characters, and giving us good ones.
Why do we know Dabb ships Deancas? (ill say when its cowrote, other wise its not) cowrote ep 8.02 - purgatory "I prayed to you, Cas, every night" "Cas, Buddy, I need you." "I have a price on my head, and I've been trying to stay one step ahead of them, to – to keep them away from you." 8.08 Hunteri Heroici - Cas helps them hunt! 😊❤ Dean & Cas have a serious convo about why Cas doesn't want to see/go to heaven. 8.22 Dean's mad at Cas. Sam's explanation of why Dean should be easy on Cas: "It's Cas." Dean then points out how he'd knife anybody else if they did what Cas did. 9.10 - Cas comforts Dean when Dean can't take seeing Sam (Gadreel) being tortured anymore. Also tons of Cas. 9.20 (bloodlines) - Canonical couple parallel "I was there, where were you" 9.22 The angels make Cas choose between them and killing Dean and he "gave up an entire army for one guy" 10.09 Claire's reintroduction. Cas heavy ep. DeanCas date. 10.22 THE PRISONER - u know the ep where Dean beats the shit out of Cas but loves him enough to not kill him.
We COULD keep going but I think I've made my point. If Robert Singer is the guy that is like "the show is about Sam and Dean only" Andrew Dabb is the DeanCas shipper. And you could even say a Cas stan.
Notice! How in s13 for SEVEN episodes we have a story that revolves around Dean's grief about losing Cas. Notice! How often the stories in all these seasons have a focus on their relationship. THAT is Andrew Dabb. If it weren't for him doing that, we wouldn't be able to easily say after Dean's lack of a response to Cas' confession, that Dean reciprocates.
To me, when I was (binge) watching s12 for the first time, I thought damn this is really got a lot of DeanCas. So I went to look at who was in charge, who was writing. I saw Andrew Dabb, associated him with Deancas episodes, saw all the new writers, Bobo, and then I saw that Yockey is known for same sex stories and it clicked. Dabb assembled a team to give us Destiel. THAT WAS IN SEASON 12!!!!!!!!
The amount of people saying he's homophobic flabbergast me. Open your eyes! That isn't what's going on.
Imagine making a show and trying to right all the wrongs of Supernatural. Imagine trying to write the greatest love story ever told and you have the entire season planned out for it to end off beautifully, it may possibly be your greatest achievement when it's done and then boom. someone comes in and tells you you aren't allowed to make Dean bi or make destiel endgame, after he was most probably already given the go ahead.
Sure. You could imply he's bi or into cas still in a way. Still make nice-ish ending. just give everyone what the kinda want.
Or you could scrap the last season, nothing close to a canonical bisexual Dean Winchester or Deancas endgame in site. People can be done with it be happy with the show, continue to live their lives in ignorance as to how close they were to Canon destiel.
OR you can lead everyone to the very closest you can get them to what you were aiming for and then show everyone the ugly truth and reality. Light it all on fire. Burn the show to the ground in your wake. Try your darnedest to making these people's (the people saying no) pockets suffer. Show us, the audience, what happened. Show us what this show really is.
I've seen people talk about the ending being changed during covid but I dont think that happened. I think what happened was Dabb already had this season planned out before it even started. Obviously the details were wobbly but it was all lead up to this ending. Destiel endgame, Canon Bisexual Dean, whatever it was. They were ready to write the greatest love story ever told and then someone shut it down.
Imagine the pain that must have caused them to be told no when they already said yes. They must have been so excited to give this to us.
I think someone (some producers) told him what this show is "really" about. The brothers. Can you imagine, after being told no, some kinda bullshit like this is said to you: "Why aren't you bringing it back to the brothers, Andrew? that's what the shows about. What with all this homosexual stuff, you know the audience won't like that. Not really." Imagine the original producers pushing this kind of view on you. "You know when we started it was Sam and Dean. It should end with Sam and Dean." That kinda sounds like someone huh? huh.
So why give us a nice acceptable finale, when you can take every problem Supernatural's had either up front or behind the scenes and create a finale so incredibly bad that people don't want to watch it anymore.
Someone made a good point about how Sam was originally supposed to be the main focus (this isn't to put any hate on Sam or Jared). Dean and Sam are the main characters but Sam was supposed to be the focus and for Dean to have become the focus, must have annoyed the producers because... well here we are. They wouldn't listen to Jensen. The producers liked this ending. Jensen's opinion didn't matter to them.
In some ways, if this is really what happened, it can be seen as childish from Dabb. To hurt all of us like that. Yes, he's hurting the producers, the execs, the cw. But to hurt us? Yeah it stings.
But in other ways, if this is really what happened, this is Dabb showing us the muck and gunk under the shiny surface. The hate for Misha. The hidden hate for Jensen. The underlying sexism. The underlying homophobia. The people REALLY in charge don't care about us, they just want our money. He needed to open our eyes and free us, at least free the people that he was writing for. The people he sees that care about this show.
This is the ending the powers that be wanted and its a big fuck you for a reason. I dont think this is Dabb spitting in our faces for loving this show, I think this is him trying to get revenge for us.
But from here, you can see it how u want it. If this is really what happened, I'm not in charge of your emotions, if you wanna be mad be mad if you wanna be grateful be grateful. And you don't have to believe me either I said this is speculation.
Also, as for all of the rumors like there being shots to the confession scene that we didn't see, which Jensen himself implied, I think that might have been a last ditch effort to canonized DeanCas but obviously it was cut. Like the name change was pretty clear. As for Misha possibly having shot some stuff for 20 I dont know what to tell you. If it's true I dont know where the blame would lie.
I do think however, that if all this was the case, the writers were prepared to become villians here. I mean they told us the writers were villians with Chuck right? So. Who knows what went down so they could give us such a vile ending. It could've been the producers or the writers, who truly knows. I do think tho that people we "trust" did some pretty shitty things to push the narrative in certain directions so now one would see this as the actual ending that was coming.
So again do with my SPECULATION what you will. This was in no way meant to put Dabb on a pedestal or anything. Just meant to give a bit of perspective.
(Also Jensen didn't unfollow Dabb recently he was already unfollowed for years)

Happiness Begins
Part 23
Chapter Summary: It turns out going home to Austin wasn’t all it cracked up to be. Elsewhere, Jensen has an interesting conversation with an old friend.
Warnings: Language, angst, dealing with mental health issues
Word Count: 3.2K+
Author’s Note: I just want to start here by reiterating that this is a work of fiction and should be treated as such. I mean no harm to Danneel or her beautiful family, and I have a zero-tolerance policy on this blog. I see and legit forms of hate towards any wife and you are blocked. That being said, I hope you enjoy this part xoxo Alex

Two months later…
When Y/n had stepped onto the tarmac in Austin, she had believed wholeheartedly that this could be a fresh start for her. Or at the very least, she hoped going back to her status quo would help to dull that empty feeling she now held in her chest. And it had worked, at first. Catching up on everything had been just the distraction she was looking for, but as time went on and the workload steadied off, it became harder for her to mask all the emotions.
It was something she had done numerous times before. A coping mechanism that as much as she knew how unhealthy it was, she always found herself reverting back to. This time was no different, and Y/n had found herself working herself into the ground. She was doing everything she could to make sure that work was all that could consume her thoughts, which turned out great in the end for Et Cetera.
Last week, she had received an email from the conglomerate Coty, one of the world’s largest beauty brands, requesting a meeting with her and her lawyers. Obviously, she had been immediately interested, the butterflies in her stomach on full alert even after the meeting had ceased.
“Just… think about our offer. We don’t need an answer right away, we understand that this is a big decision for you. We hope to hear from you soon.” Mr. Baltussen, the CPO for Coty, slid her over a copy of his business card along with the legal documents that spelled out their offer.
“Of course, thank you.” Y/n nodded her head as the small group of executives let themselves out of the conference room. As the door closed behind them, she snapped her head to her lawyer next to her, who already had her nose in the paperwork.
“What do you think?”
“I think this all looks pretty legitimate. Y/n this is a more than generous offer.” Her lawyer’s eyes quickly scanned the words before flitting up to meet Y/n’s.
“So you think I should accept it?”
“Honestly?” Y/n nodded, pleading for an honest answer. “Only you can make that decision, but this says to me that no matter what decision you make, you’ll be just fine.”
“Damn, I was hoping for a more definite answer.” She dropped her head into her folded arms on the table top.
“Sorry I couldn’t be of more help, but I’m here for you no matter what.”
That conversation had been all that she thought about for the rest of the night and was the first thing on her mind when she had woken the next morning. Having the day off, since it was the weekend, meant she had more time to dwell on it. At first, she had been adamant about declining their offer, but the more she thought about it the more appealing it became. After all, her method of shoving everything down to avoid feeling was no longer working for her. Being in Austin, where he also lived, tended to grate on some of her nerves. She often found herself tense when out in public, which she fully understood how irrational it was, afraid that she would run into him somewhere. Her heart just wasn’t ready for that quite yet. Even with her and Jared talking again, things still hurt. He was family and she would never be able to get away from him, but Coty was offering her the ability to get about just as far away as she could from the mess she had created.
Y/n had pulled her laundry from the drier as she went about doing her weekend chores. She plopped onto the couch with the basket in front of her and turned on the news for some background noise. The program was just finishing up as she paid no attention to it and its switch to Entertainment Tonight. She was just about finished with folding when the host’s words caught her attention.
“Coming up next, Supernatural star Jensen Ackles and ex fiance Danneel Harris caught cozying up to each other for lunch in downtown LA.” Y/n snapped her head up to the tv and dropped the panties in her hand back into the basket at her feet. She searched blindly for the remote to turn up the tv as the program returned.
“The two ex lovers were seen having what seemed like a friendly, and funny, lunch together. Could this be the start of a rekindling romance? Only time will tell as their reps declined for comment.” Images of the two flashed across the screen, paparazzi photos of the two of them, both had wide smiles on their faces as they sat next to each other on a patio table. A pair of sunglasses sat on both of their faces, but even she could see the small crinkles around his eyes from that beautiful smile on his face.
Her heart sank into her stomach as she sat back on her couch and pulled her knees into her chest. All those emotions she had fought so hard to push down were now bubbling back up to the surface and threatening to explode out of her throat in a sob. Tears pricked at the corner of her eyes as she fought the stinging in her nose.
Deep down she knew she had no right to feel the way she was. After all, Jensen had ended things with her, and she certainly didn’t leave the door open for him to come running back in. But all she could think about was his promise to her, his promise that he was over the one woman that had the pleasure of wearing his ring on her finger. The images on her television now told her a different story, though, and that brought up every insecurity in her.
What was it that Danneel had that she didn’t? There were the obvious physical differences that she wouldn’t even dare to delve into in her fragile state. But what else about her made her more desirable? Was she smarter, funnier, better in the bedroom…
Ugh! Y/n ran her hands through her hair, tugging gently at the roots. She was so far beyond over feeling like this. She was supposed to be better at handling herself when she got this way, but more so, she was supposed to be over comparing herself to other women. It had been so long since she had relapsed like this, and she had reached her breaking point. Y/n was not okay anymore, and she needed help.
****
Y/n rifled through her living room, tossing pillows and cushions from her couch. She had been so sure that she had left her laptop on the coffee table when she went to bed last night. It was nowhere to be found. Not in her bedroom, living room, not even in her kitchen.
“Damn it.” she growled to herself. There was no more time to look for it, she had to be at Jared and Gen’s soon, so she would just have to push back this search until later. Quickly she put her house back into a semi clean order and ran out the door. Luckily, her brother didn’t live too far from her and she was still on time when she pulled up in their drive.
Three little bodies had the front door pulled open before she could even open her car door. “Aunt Y/n!” Odette was the first one out the door. Y/n knelt down in front of her niece, sweeping her up into her arms and squeezing her tight. It had been longer than usual since she had seen Jared and his kids, in person at least. Things were still… tense to say the least between them. They were still working on their issues… slowly.
Y/n picked up the toddler and made her way inside, hugging the boys as she went. Gen was waiting just inside the door, offering her a tight hug as well.
“We miss you around here, you know that?” Gen smiled as she let down Odette and the kids ran off to continue what they were doing before she had pulled up.
“I know. We are getting there.” Y/n agreed, it really had been too long. She missed her family more than she had thought. They had been so close since forever, that she never understood what it was like to be at a distance from them.
“Then come around more often, please?” Gen urged her sister in law to follow her into the kitchen.
“Gen,” Y/n tried, casting her glance away from the woman who was pleading with her. That was the last thing she needed to hear right now. “I have some news.”
“Should I grab Jared…” She started towards the stairs that lead to their second floor before Y/n moved to stop her.
“No please, just listen.” Gen leaned against the island, giving Y/n her full attention. “I had a meeting on Friday with executives from Coty. They uh,” She chuckled, still in disbelief that this was even happening. “They want to buy my majority shares in Et Cetera.”
“Wow, Y/n that is huge.” Genevieve’s word’s didn’t match the inflection in her voice or the crease that appeared between her brows. She was just as skeptical as Y/n had been when they first presented her the offer.
“That’s not all. Coty offered me a VP position where I would be in charge of US operations. My lawyer said it’s a more than generous offer since I get a seven figure salary plus benefits and bonus’, not to mention the money from the sale of my shares.” Y/n played with the fruit in the bowl in front of her.
“There’s more, isn't there?” The woman was too smart for her own good, Y/n thought to herself. Of course Gen picked up on that fact that she was holding something back.
“I would need to relocate to New York.” Her face scrunched up as she prepared for some sort of outrage or surprise from Gen, but nothing came. Her next words were softer than she deserved.
“Do you want to accept the offer?”
“I didn’t, at first.” Y/n admitted. That was the easy part, admitting to what had changed her mind on the other hand would be a lot more difficult, because she didn’t even want to admit it to herself. “But I don’t know now. It feels like everyone around me is moving on with their lives while I’m just stuck on some sort of endless corporate hamster wheel. I don’t feel the excitement for what I do anymore. Hell, I don’t feel anything anymore. Moving to New York could be just what I need.”
“And what about us? What about your family here in Texas.”
“We have facetime. And I’ll always just be a plane ride away. I mean, it's not like I’m going to Yemen or something. We will have the holidays too.” The catch in her voice broke on her last sentence. She didn’t know who she was trying to convince more, herself or Gen.
“Is this about Jensen?” Gen stood up straighter, her head cocking slightly as she spoke.
Y/n huffed, what a stupid question. “Of course it is. He’s clearly moved on, our time together just a distant and horrible memory. Why shouldn’t I be afforded that same luxury?”
“Come on, you don’t really believe that? Y/n, you have worked so hard for everything you have. And it is all yours, right here in Austin, where your family is too. Why throw all that away over some guy?” Gen’s hand found its way to Y/n’s shoulder, her fingers squeezing the flesh there to try and ground her. She hated seeing her making emotional decisions, especially ones that would affect not only her.
“Jensen wasn’t just some guy, Gen. But I did lose him, and I’m trying my damndest here to move on, but I just haven’t found the ability to do so yet. That’s all I’m looking for.” Y/n cast her gaze down into her lap, where she was now picking at the cuticle on her thumb.
“And all I’m saying is, don’t make this kind of decision without talking to the people around you. Get all the perspective you can, because I don’t think you are seeing this clearly right now.”
“I hear you Gen, but I don’t know if I’ll change my mind again.” Gen nodded her understanding, only wishing she could get through to her sister in law somehow. She pulled her into her chest, hugging her again, because she didn’t know what else she could do.
Neither of them noticed Jared standing on the landing of the stairs, catching every word his sister uttered. His heart sank as he listened to his sister talk. Never before had he heard the defeat in her voice. Y/n was one of the most strong willed people he knew, but she had just… given up.
Before now, he hadn’t noticed how far she had fallen. But maybe that was because he wasn’t looking. The two of them didn’t talk like they used to, and right now he was feeling incredibly guilty about that. Why hadn’t he seen it before? Was it because all he could focus on was the steam coming out of his own ears when he found out she had been sleeping with his best friend? Or was it because as much as she chastised him for it, he still saw her as his baby sister and not the independent woman she had become. It was not like her at all to give up on something she had been working so hard towards. Y/n was not the type of woman to balk at money, and she certainly wouldn’t be the one to walk away from her family for any amount of it.
Jared couldn’t see anymore why he had ever been so adamant that the two of them should not be together. Maybe it was because he knew too many of the intimate details of Jensen’s sex life to think about his sister in that way, or maybe it was even because he thought they wouldn’t be a good match. He could see it now though, having known both of them for so long. Jared shook his head at himself for not seeing truly how much those two were made for each other. He had only stood in their way when he should have been playing matchmaker. After all, didn’t he owe it to two of the most important people in his life to help them find their way to each other?
Jared vowed in that moment, he would fix this. He had to fix this.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles...
The waiter set down their plates in front of them with a quick ‘enjoy’ before running off. Danneel bit into the salad placed in front of her, chewing delicalating as she decided on what to say.
“You know, I have to say I was surprised you called me.” She thought back to his cryptic text that he had sent. ‘I’m in town and need to talk, can we get lunch?’ was all that it said. He had sent her the name of the cafe when she had agreed on meeting him. The two had exhausted the small talk in the time it took for their food to come and she wanted to get straight to the point.
“I was too, to be honest. But I’ve been thinking a lot lately, and I think you may be one of the few people who can help me.” Jensen took a drink of his water, not looking in her direction.
“Me? We haven’t exactly been pen pals all this time.”
“I know, that means you have an outsider's view point on all of this. And you know me better than almost anyone, I trust your opinion.” Jensen stated. Danneel mouthed a ‘wow’ and sat back in her chair, wiping her face with her napkin.
“This must be big then.” Danneel eyed the man sitting next to her, waiting for him to start with whatever it was he wanted to tell her.
“God, where do I start, uh… I met this woman.” He began, his hand fiddling with the fork against his plate.
“Mmmm.” Danneel hummed, the realization finally hitting her.
“I… she is probably the best thing to ever happen to me. Actually, she’s a lot like you in some ways, brilliant, witty, and beyond beautiful. I fell for her, and I fell hard.”
“So what is the problem exactly?”
“I had to break things off with her. I thought what I was doing was best for her and me, but as time has gone on I’m not so sure. I can’t seem to get rid of this churning in my gut.” His tongue jetted out to wet his lower lip as he poured his heart out. This was not an easy thing for him to admit, the last thing he wanted was to hurt Danneel.
“This girl wouldn’t happen to be Y/n Padalecki, would she?” A small smirk graced her features as Jensen snapped his gaze up to hers.
“H...How?”
“Well you weren’t exactly subtle when you ran after her at your birthday. Not to mention both of you were gone for too long and you returned with that little post coitus smirk you tend to get.” Danneel swirled her finger in a circle to emphasize her point. Jensen chuckled under his breath, his head shaking in disbelief. The noise grew in his chest before bubbling up into a full bellied laugh. Danneel couldn’t help but to join in, his laughter having that effect on people.
“Would you believe that Jared asked me not to get involved with her?” Danneel nodded, she had known Jared for a while, and that did not surprise her at all. “We saw each other behind his back and when he found out, all hell broke loose. The two of them weren’t talking for two weeks.”
“Oh, Jay…”
“Am I an idiot?” He asked her, his voice soft, as if afraid of her answer.
“No, you are not an idiot. You’re in love, but you’re not an idiot.” Danneel held out her hand for him across the table. He took it and she squeezed his palm. “Listen, I know what it’s like to walk away from something because it is the best option for both of you, but I also believe that what’s meant to be, will be.”
“What are you saying?”
“I’m saying if you truly love her and she loves you, you’ll find your way back to each other.” Danneel reiterated.
“And what if we are too late?” Jensen tried.
“Then don’t make yourself late. The least you can do is go to her and tell her how you feel. Then it’s in her hands.”
“You make it sound so easy, Dee.”
“Oh it’s not.” Danneel dropped his hand. “It’s downright terrifying. But do you want to live your life wondering what if?” Jensen shook his head. “Then go get her.”

Supernatural S15E20 “Carry On” Series Finale
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
.
.
.
Warning!!! I am going to be very emotional in this post. I kinda still am. There will also be plenty side noes.
I knew they would play that version. (Grabs tissues)
They were babies.
Bobby will always be the dad the boys desrved.
Sam was so damn buff in “Lazurus Rising”.
I like how we get to the old characters/actors.
It feels like they wanted to make us cry before the actual episode.
Here we go...
*Deep breaths*
Lol!! “Ordinary Life”
Dean kept Miracle!
THANK YOU JARED!!!
I’m Sam making the bed.
I loved this montage of Sam and Dean living a free life.
The title card for the last time.
Pie Fest!!
Finally Someone brought up Castiel.
*Side Note*
What Dean said makes sense. Them honoring Cas’s sacrifice by being happy and free is what the should do, but fuck that.
What is this purge shit?!
They are SINGER AND KRIPKE!
Haven’t seen John’s journal in forever. Its beautiful to see that they still have to use it.
Evil mimes = Vamp mimes Thank you Dean.
Well its clear that Jack brought back everyone. Good cause I was worried about Garth.
I don’t trust this plan.
Dean and his ninja stars are too funny.
Yea, clearly a trap.
*Side Note 2*
I am feeling a little let down with the “MOTW” storyline. It’s not what I was expecting. Hopefully this goes somewhere.
Damn! Sam got his ass scooped up.
Wait... What? Jenny? I barely remember her.
Oh... Well bye Jenny.
DAMN IT DEAN!!!!!!!!!!!
I FUCKING HATE THIS SHOW!!!!!
Dean telling Sam that he is proud of him.
STOP!!
I am truly speechless right now. Dean is really dead.
Poor Sam. He had a hunter’s funeral with just the dog.
My heart is really broken right now.
Thank you Donna.
*Side Note 3*
I noticed that the call is from Texas. Like “Walker: Texas Ranger” Lol!!
I am having anxiety watching Sam leaving the bunker.
The Table...
*Side Note 3*
How did Dean fight the universe’s ultimate badasses and was taken out by a FUCKING NAIL!!?!?!?!?!
Dean and Cas deserved better.
Dean is in heaven.
BOBBY!!!
Wait... What did Jack do?
So, no more reliving life’s greatest hits?
Rufus is with Aretha Franklin and John and Mary live up the road.
Harvelle’s Roadhouse.
CAS HELPED JACK MAKE HEAVEN FOR DEAN!! SO CAS IS IN HEAVEN?!?!?!?
Except... WHERE THE FUCK IS CAS?!?!?!?
There’s Baby! With the original license plate.
Sam had a baby and named him Dean!
I can’t see the woman on the porch? Is that Eileen?
Little Dean has the possession tatt.
OH GOD SAM IS ABOUT TO DIE!
An acoustic version of “Carry On...” Who said that this was okay?!!!!
Is he going to meet Dean on the bridge?!!
“Heya Sammy.”
After watching the episode a few more times and reading the lastest gossip about the finale. I do have some opinions on the matter. Some of you may agree and some may not. These are my opinions and thoughts.
Given all that has happened this year I am grateful that they filmed anything. They risked their health and the health of their familes, to get us the finale. I appreciate that. However, there is clearly somethings that were amiss.
First, Dean. (a.)At first I was just completely hurt about his death. I was so mad that he was killed by rebar because of a lame ass vampire. I get the angle that they were going for with it. Now that Chuck isn’t writing their lives anymore, they don’t have plot armour anymore. Basic shit can hurt them now. Just like when the didn’t have any “luck”, regular people shit happened to them. So, if you fight in a barn around random ass rebar sticking out, you’re bound to get hurt.
(b.)Social Media. I get on Twitter and Supernatural is trending. But, not because of high praise. No. It was because a lot of the fandom felt cheated by the finale. Which is how i felt at the time. Then that Jensen did not like the ending. That he thought that the ending was going to be different than what we got. Granted that they couldn’t go full out because of the virus. If I am correct, Jensen said that they would go out “Butch and the Sundance Kid” style. Plus they edited so much of the episode “Despair” that him and Misha felt that the charaters were cheated. Also Jo (Alona Tol) and Ellen (Samatha Ferris) Harvelle were not asked back. Which I thought was strange.
(c.) What happened to all of Dean’s earthly possessions?
Seceond, Sam. (a.)Sam’s life. I am glad that Sam got to live a long life and have the family that he always wanted. I know that because of the pandemic we couldn’t shoot everyone together. That being said, Did Sam marry Eileen? We don’t see or hear from her. The only glimpse of his wife is on the porch and its so far away we can’t tell who it is. Also in Sam’s montage, we see a lot of pictures inside his house. But not one of his wife. It just seems rushed is all.
(b.)Sam’s aging. I am not okay with the wig that they had Jared wear. It looked like a Party City wig. Again, rushed production. But, I do forgive them for a shirtless Sam/Jared. THANK YOU!
(c.)Sam’s heaven. This may go into the plotholes area. When Sam goes to heaven will he see Jess again? Jess was the love of his life and he said that he still thinks about her.
Third, Castiel. (a.) Misha Collins did a amazing job as Castiel. His performance in “Despair” really broke me. That being said, Cas deserved better than the show gave him. A few mentions in the last episode. But no one is really talking about the fact that Cas confessed his love for Dean and it was completely ignored. We just know that Jack got Cas out the Empty and they both made a new heaven for Dean. Does Cas and Dean ever see eah other?
(b.)Destiel/CasDean. DESTIEL BECAME CANON! This was a huge thing for the SPN fandom. People who have never watched the show were interested by this. This made 2020 a little more enjoyable. Now, I know that there are some that are against Destiel. That is your right and opinion. However, it is now plain to see that Cas has always had the feelings toward Dean. And they are not on a platonic level. There has been years of evidence to this. Sam and Cas’s relationship is not the same as his and Dean’s. Naomi programmed Cas to kil Dean but couldn’t once the time came. From angel to demon, Devil and God has all said at one point or another that Castiel was in love wth Dean.. Whenever Cas died on the show, Dean spirals out of control. He always tries to find something else to get his mind off the fact that Cas is gone. Does Dean feel the same for Cas? I’m not sure, but I lean more to that he does. I have always believed that Dean was Bisexual. He’s been seen checking out men on the show. I just wsh that they would at least acknowledged it.
Fourth, Plotholes.(a) There are so many plotholes after the finale that I need answers to. I have too many to put on here. I will put those in a different post.
For what the finale was, I liked it. It did fall a little flat, but if I just focus on the fact that they both got the ending they deserved.
2 brothers, hunters, Archangels vessels, Men of Letters, Legacies, Knight of Hell, Boy!King, ‘Messengers of God’s Destruction’, Dads, Heros. Thank you.
Sam and Dean Winchester... There is peace, now you’re done.

I have been through this journey before, so I get to be actually frustrated about it.
IUnder a read more because im not subjecting y’all to this. Also: I should caveat I haven’t watched the episode cause I’m waiting till its on Netflix but I have watched way too many other episodes of Supernatural so I have a right to say these things.
TL;DR: I mean you all knew Cas’ confession was fucking bullshit and that SPN is...hm. But I’d like to actually express my genuine frustration, for a moment? I’m going to say things you already know, but I have too much knowledge of this show and too much stupid meta in my brain about a series I haven’t genuinely enjoyed for at least 5 years which makes this not just blandly bad but disgustingly insulting to me not even as a gay just as like. A writer?
Or, even shorter: Cas’ confession is just a Charlie Bradbury Speedrun
So. As some of you may know if, for some reason, you followed me back in 2013 (and till...okay fine 2015), I used to be, uh. Really into SPN. Really, I was into Destiel. Like, as in, I slogged through seasons 1-3 to get to Cas and am also really vulnerable to the Sunk Cost Fallacy and projecting onto characters. (I was in 8th grade in 2013, okay? Get off my back)
Also, because I monopolised use of the TV, I kind of...also got my parents into it? In a “this is silly but fun” kind of way.
Over time, critiques of the show from viewers, learning what queerbaiting is at all, fatigue with how long it was going, and also fatigue from how characters I enjoyed, like Rufus, or Crowley, or Ellen, or Jo, or Kevin, or Charlie, or Cas a few times, kept getting killed off. As time went on, it didn’t escape my notice that, aside from Cas, all of these characters fit one or more of the following criteria:
They were a woman
They were a person of color
Were Queer or Queer-coded in some way (listen Crowley was bad rep but at least Mark Sheppard actually kissed a man on screen)
I also just...generally got tired of the way the show treats women and sidelines people of color.
The final straw really came with Charlie’s death. It got us all excited, because she hadn’t been back in a bit! And it was interesting to see how reuniting with her dark side from Oz had changed her! (yeah remember the fucking Wizard of Oz storyline? The writers sure don’t!) And maybe she’d get developed! Because at this point, Charlie and the fairly good writing of her character was a major upside for the series! Charlie was cool, fun, gay, and morally complex in a way...none of the female characters had been before her, in large part because by definition, her relationship with the boys would always be platonic.
And then. Offscreen. She is violently murdered. For no damn good reason. Like, literally, her being brought back in this episode after fucking off to europe after having returned from fucking off to Oz seems to have filled two purposes in total.
The codex is solved (but Sam doesn’t know till next episode)
Charlie is dead, which means Dean can be angry, specifically at Sam, and kill more people because he’s the big bad this season.
That’s it. Two things. Twooooo whole reasons to do this episode. Whoopee.
But you didn’t come here for this, you came here for me to rip this reveal to shreds. Don’t worry, I’ll get there. What I want in your minds is that Supernatural already had a really good anddynamic queer character. And then they killed her off to make Dean angry. No, it doesn’t matter that they brought her back in season 13 or whatever. They made that decision.
After the rage this incited, I started realizing general flaws in the writing (I had probably already noticed them but now I was angry enough to complain.) Every conflict is born of Sam and Dean not communicating/taking on burdens and Dean being angry at Cas for reasons that ranged from good to ridiculous, but in a way that always went way too fucking long, (which...yes, does make the “you do it for love” gifs fucking hilarious). It didn’t help that seasons 11 and 12 were next, which meant Demon Dean and GOD’S FUCKING SISTER, plus the decision to resurrect Mary, which, while I do like her later scenes, as a season 12 finale it...well I’ll be honest it kinda sucked. It undercut the majority of the Winchester’s’ arcs and their slow and painful journey out of their father’s toxic vengeance quest and knowing Mary as a person when it’s too late to know her was one of the last semi-compelling grounders of the narrative.
By this point it was a hate-watch for my parents and I.
So then, I’m at college, and I’m not watching anymore cause I don’t have the motivation or access to Hulu to continue, and SPN is bad. I watch the Scooby Doo crossover when it comes out and my friend and I make fun of it, and we also continue making jokes about Dean and Cas and queerbaiting because we’re queer, but I don’t keep up. My Dad does though, so when I return, I watch some with the fam and lads. It’s even more tiring without context.
So flash forward to Quarantine, my sister, the only one with taste, has left, and we have run out of netflix to watch. So we return to the well, and seasons 13-14 are. I’m gonna say it. Bad. Really fucking bad. The cycle of bad communication continues, season 14 has like seven antagonists and the way it’s structured makes it so I literally cannot remember the timeline of a season I watched 3 months ago. Oh also, they have a queer coded cannibal snake monster for...well I guess Jack’s snake bud was cool but like. Huh wow it’s almost like these writers don’t handle queers well.
Our one saving grace is Cas, but he’s barely in any episodes, though I did note that his deal with the empty, being happy completely for one moment killing him, that struck me as “this has potential and I know they’re gonna half-ass it somehow.” Also Jack and Mary, but then oh...plot….The most compelling it gets is literally the finale.
But then, 3 days later, the first half of season 15 comes out on Netflix and it’s...actually kind of acceptable. The new character they give Jack’s actor is fun to watch him play until they make him evil. Exploring just how toxic Chuck can be gave the series direction again. The alternate future was genuinely scarring, and Eileen’s return was genuinely moving. Most of all, though, Cas got the opportunity to tell Dean no, that Dean was being unfair to him, had always been unfair to him, and he was sick of it. I had no illusions, I knew Destiel was never gonna happen, and Cas was gonna die, but giving him that bit of agency, letting Cas grow and be self-sufficient, and be angry with Dean not for existential reasons but interpersonal ones, was such a good sign for me, and Dean grew too! Dean fucking apologized for being horrible and Jensen Ackles had a...yknow what, ill give it to him, he had a good acting moment.
But the thing. About. The “I love you.”
Let’s take it in parts.
What was good: I’m gonna admit it, lads, “Wanting what I can’t have” - AS A LINE - is good, and, structurally, there is something to the Empty Deal that could have been an interesting aspect of Cas’ arc when it comes to self actualization and being on even footing with Dean. The problem is, this is Supernatural, and that arc only comes up when I bring it up because character study, even in bad media, is fun for me.
What was bad:
I mean. Like. All of it? All of it.
Okay. Fine. I’ll be specific.
Cas dies immediately when - possibly because- he is revealed as having feelings for Dean. They kill him as they queer him, that’s a Bury Your Gays Speedrun right there.
Like the least they could have done is have him mention it to someone in another scene or something to establish some romantic feelings on the part of canon a full episode beforehand. That would have been the literal bare minimum.
When Cas starts praising Dean, for some reason both the writing and Misha’s acting take a bit of a downswing (from...where it already was). Cas, whose most powerful moment this season was acknowledging that Dean’s anger at him is cruel and unfair, flatly praises him for doing everything out of love and it reads with a misunderstanding of both Dean as a character and Cas’ understanding of Dean. Dean is angry! VERY ANGRY! And it’s a problem he needs to work on and rarely does.
Talking out of my ass, a better speech would have been about how Dean is angry because of his love for Sam, family, and the people around him, how, for better or for worse, he can’t help but be angry on behalf of others, and that his journey of moving that tendency towards the better is what made Cas care so much. Guys this alteration to the metaphor took 2 minutes to write tops I am an Art History student and these are TV WRITERS WITH YEARS OF EXPERIENCE CAN YOU TELL THEYRE NOT TRYING YET?
A better speech would, of course, have come out of a better series. My point: this part was half-assed. Poorly written. Wow it’s almost like the series is also poorly written.
Also, Misha is the better actor of the three(***OF THE THREE), but his choices in that scene are jarringly out of character which. Makes the bad writing worse. It doesn’t help that they cut to the same fucking shot of Dean 3 times. The chemistry in that scene makes it feel so fucking hackneyed. Because it is.
This combines lead me to the point: (wait there was a point to this?)
As someone who does not have the luxury of watching this capsized ship fall into boiling seas from a distance, it is less insulting to me that they did this so last minute and then sent Cas to the Void than it is how they did it. They had ingredients for something that could have been compelling enough to me as a former fan of the show to think that they had put effort into it, that they had decided months, perhaps even years ago to do this, and had crafted a storyline around it. That this was an intentional decision they cared about. It wasn’t. It was barely even pandering, because it’s almost insultingly blatant.
SPN kinda proved to me that it didn’t care about queers when Charlie was killed off. It proved it to me again when Cas, not only died in confessing his love for Dean but did it in the weakest result of what could have been a surprisingly strong story.
#destiel#i don't fucking care im tagging it#bury your gays#queerbaiting#homophobia#also: i should say there are a lot of moments where i refer to aspects of the writing as good#this either means i was 14 when I watched it#or#it's something that i find compelling#that#IN ANOTHER SHOW#OR IN A HYPOTHETICAL WHERE THE WRITING ISNT LADEN WITH HOMOPHOBIA#could be fun to explore#like there are these structural motifs#and themes#which could have made the show good#could have made that confession...passable#but they didn't even write it well by supernatural standards#is my point#My other point is i get to actually be mad about this because I actually watched and put emotional energy towards this show#i shouldnt have but i did#so now I get to write about it#and if you reply we been knew to this post#youre correct#but also#wow do you maybe think I was already aware of that?

Thoughts On The Finale of Supernatural.
Okay I feel like I should say something about the Supernatural finale because I've been a fan for the longest time now and everyone is speaking their minds about it, so I'll say my peace and be done with it-- spoiler's ahead (obviously) before I get into the ranting about how bad it was, I'm going to say I respect the actors, the writers, and everyone involved-- I know that they gave it their all, and they were trying to do everything right, I know that throughout the entire time working for the show, they did give us some pretty good memories, and I'm grateful to love Supernatural, and want not-- that being said, the 15 finale, IS NOT HOW YOU END A 15 YEARS LONG RUNNING SHOW, it was decent-- sure; but it could have been so much better, before I get into it though, let me list all the good things about it.
WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD. ............. ............ ............ ........... .......... ........... NOT KIDDING... ................ ............ ............ ............. LAST WARNING IDGITS.
................. ......................
1: Dean's goodbye to Sam, very emotional, very heart wrenching, I legit broke down and tearfully sobbed as I watched it happened-- never has this happened to me in tv, because I always tell myself it's a tv show and it never really bothers me, but this scene? oh yeah it bothered me, it made me sad; and for that bravo Jensen and Jared *claps* bravo.
2: Bobby singer (original Bobby singer) making his appearance, that was a nice touch and it was heart warming to see him again. ^^
3: Mentioning Cas "helped Jack" meaning he was rescued from mega hell, cause come on-- it wouldn't make sense for Jack to just leave him there.
4: Sam and Dean being reunited at the bridge in the end, again nice to see the two brother's seeing each other after so long.
BUT THAT'S IT
THAT'S ALL THAT'S GOOD and here are the reasons why.
Okay, like seriously-- KILLING DEAN off in the first hunt after Chuck, I HAVE SUCH A PROBLEM with this and not just because Dean died, but because it's the first hunt they go on AFTER CHUCK, as far as we are all lead to believe, and that paints the picture to us, that Sam and Dean were never good hunter's, the only reason they were even alive to get this far was because of Chuck's influence, and now we all know that Chuck has basically been writing their story "since the beginning" and everything and we get that, but we want to believe as a collective fandom that Sam and Dean were good at their jobs, to some degree that they were good enough to be hunters, and keep fighting as hunters-- and to kill Dean off in the first hunt after Chuck just paints a different story, if you're going to kill Dean off, then do it in the like a few hunts after Chuck, maybe show a little montage of Sam and Dean continuing to go on hunts, before finally showing "that fateful hunt" that ends up killing Dean, that way we as a fanbase can say "okay Dean had some time to be free before he was killed" this just cheapens his death and it's NOT OKAY.
Also, why a rusty piece of nail? I mean again I know that Sam and Dean have basically been made to live this long thanks to Chuck giving them basically "plot armor" and they're both only human-- but again we as the fandom would have liked to say that Dean went out in a more "heroic" way then just being stabbed by a piece of nail, I mean come on SIDE CHARACTER'S got a more heroic death then that, this is DEAN FREAKING WINCHESTER, we would have liked to say he went out in a blaze of glory, he went out to I dunno save an entire city, or Sam from certain death, not just an "accident on a hunt" that leads him to be killed, it just ...it's not fitting for everything else he's been through, X_x
That being said, why kill Dean at all?
I mean, we were basically told from the start of the show that both Sam and Dean were going to end bloody (throughout the series always mentioning that the hunter's life "ends horrible and bloody") I get that, but if you're able to give Sam a happily ever after, where he grows old and dies, then why can't Dean? it's like, all this time throughout the show, we can see that he wants to have a normal life, he wants to have a wife, kids, settle down (we see it in Lisa and Ben) but he doesn't feel like he deserves it.
He's been conditioned by John Winchester to believe that his soul purpose in life is to simply hunt, and that's just wrong-- and it would have been very nice to see in the finale, maybe Sam and Dean retiring from hunting but opening up some kind of school for hunters or something? that way they are still helping out with hunting in a way, but not a way that threatens their lives day to day, where they can both grow old and basically die together, but that's just my view on it, I mean I wanted them both to live happy normal lives darn it, and DEAN DESERVES HIS FUTURE too you know? after everything, this poor man has been through.
But that's just my view on it, and I do think the show could have been good doing something like that-- but that being said, I'm fine with the Dean Winchester dies ending, so long as they give him a proper HEROIC DEATH, and Sam goes on to honor his brother's memory.
Now then, say we go with the Dean Winchester dies plotline, I get that-- but why couldn't we see Jodie, Donna, Claire, and all the other characters they've made friends with over the years? I would have loved to see Sam breaking the news to some of the hunter friends they've made, and maybe have Jodie come over and give him some sympathy food and give him a hug, or some of the friends just being there for the FREAKING FUNERAL (I mean come on they did it for ASA FOX, season 12 I believe? why couldn't Dean Winchester have something like that?) it would have been nice to show many people gathered around, and maybe even Dean being allowed to see the view from heaven realizing just how loved he was?
Also, would have loved to see Sam heart brokenly hugging Eileen tearfully, as she hugs him back-- revealing that she is INDEED THE MOTHER OF HIS CHILD, maybe even in the montage of Sam growing older, show something like him and Eileen dancing together, or Eileen teaching their son sign language, I mean sure there's no doubt Eileen is his wife, but WE WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE IT, PEOPLE, show something of Sam and Eileen together, the ending just kind of felt like Sam was all alone like nobody was there-- and from what we've seen, HE HAS A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO ADORE HIM AND DEAN (Jodie, the girl's, Donna, different hunter's, apocalypse world refugees) I know there was restrictions because of Covid, but someone, ANYONE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER than just nobody.
Plus, we get the confirmation Castiel is alive (Bobby stating 'Cas helped Jack") okay that's good, but can we at least see one last thing of him? like I dunno, I saw a post somewhere; when Dean finishes his drive on the bridge, gets out of the car, and walks towards the edge of it just looking at heaven around him, he feels someone grab his shoulder, turns around and it's Cas.
Destiel or not Destiel scenes would have been fine, but in my head (never thought the writers were gonna go there)-- at least it would have been nice to see him, I dunno become tearful and hug Cas; and Cas hugs him back, saying his famous "Hello Dean" line, as they hug each other for a while; before they hear.
"Cas?" In Sam's voice, causing them to both look towards like the left and see Sam approaching, before him and Dean share a tearful reunion hug, Cas smiling to see the two brother's finally at peace, before Cas joins in, team free will finally back together after what seems like an eternity apart, while ~Carry On My wayword son~ begins playing, as the visual zooms out of them, before the episode ends on a flashback to season 12 where Cas talks about the future that Jack showed him the "paradise" that was mentioned.
That would have been much better then what we got, I WASN’T ASKING FOR MUCH-- but that just...urgggggggggghhh the way the show painted it, I mean-- come on...why couldn’t we have at least gotten half of what I just mentioned?
Also at some point, GIVE ADAM WINCHESTER A DARN BREAK PEOPLE-- maybe in between showing us Dean in heaven, he goes to visit some of his old friends? or maybe even have Adam having a beer with Bobby when Dean first enters heaven, something to just show the darn kid >_<
We didn’t even need to have an explaination as to why Cas never came to see the boys after he was brought back by Jack, we would have loved to just SEE HIM one last time.
Not to much to ask.

The Boys Season 3: What to Expect
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
The following contains spoilers for The Boys season 2.
Amazon’s dark superhero series The Boys was renewed for a third season before its second even started streaming, so even though season 2 wrapped up a great deal of story – the secret of Stormfront’s identity, Becca’s attempt to save her son from Homelander, and Starlight’s undercover effort to bring down Vought – we all knew this wasn’t the end of things. But where this bonkers show goes from here is anyone’s guess – though fans know better than most that literally anything is possible.
Though the next season of The Boys is unlikely to arrive on our screens anytime soon – the realities of production in the middle of a global pandemic being what they are – we can still make a few educated guesses about what it might contain.
The Boys Get Back Together
The Boys season 2 ends with most of The Boys going their separate ways for what appears to be the foreseeable future. Hughie joins Congresswoman Victoria Neuman’s office, determined to bring Vought down by legitimate means rather than vigilante methods. Mother’s Milk finally gets back to his family. Frenchie and Kimiko head off an adventure of their own – one which definitely involves dancing. And Butcher will probably still be struggling to process his feelings about Becca’s death for a while.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
But, then again, The Boys probably won’t be apart for long. The title of this show is The Boys, after all, so it seems pretty unlikely that our ragtag group of misfits will stay apart from one another for more than an episode or so. Whether that means Butcher will decide to take Malory up on her off to provide off-the-books funding to a group meant to keep an eye on the threat posed by supes, or if Hughie will get the band back together when he realizes that Congresswoman Neumann has the hidden ability to make people’s heads explode, we’ll have to wait and see.
A New Member of The Seven – Or Two – Arrives
As we head into season 3, there’s an opening for at least one new member of superhero group The Seven. – and likely space for more than one.
Stormfront was originally brought aboard to replace the deceased Translucent, but after getting outed as a not-so-secret Nazi and badly injured by Homelander’s son Ryan, she’s out of the picture. And when last we saw Black Noir, he was essentially comatose after having been force-fed nuts by Maeve during her rescue of Starlight. And though A-Train has been accepted back into The Seven, The Deep has not, meaning that the group is currently down one or two heroes. Who might we see arrive to replace them?
There are more than a few supes from the original Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic book series that have yet to appear in the television adaptation, including former Seven members Jack from Jupiter and Mister Marathon. And, though a teen-focused The Boys spin-off has already been greenlit, that doesn’t mean that we couldn’t see another character join the fray from the Young Americans, the teenage superhero group of which Starlight used to be a member, such as Drummer Boy or Holy Mary.
Congresswoman Victoria Neuman’s Plan is Revealed
In the final moments of The Boys season 2, we learn that Congresswoman Neuman is actually a supe herself, and capable of making people’s heads explode. She’s the “terrorist” who was behind the attack on D.C during the hearings about Vought and Compound V, and she killed the Church of the Collective leader Alastair Adana rather than owe him a favor for the Stormfront information his group provided.
But what does she actually want? Is her motivation merely to bring Vought down? To punish the Seven? Or actually, take the group over herself? Does she have some sort of deep-seated issues with superheroes because she secretly is one? Who knows? But, until someone – most likely Hughie now that he’s gone to work with her – figures out her secret, she’s going to pretty much be able to do whatever she wants, with all the power of the government behind her. (Thanks primarily to the fallout from the Stormfront situation, which has put Compound V on hold and made Vought look pretty weak in the process.)
Starlight and Hughie Deserve Some Happiness
Granted, this is as much wishful thinking as anything else, but after everything that Starlight and Hughie have been through – from lies to multiple near-death experiences – here’s hoping that season 3 lets these two crazy kids be happy together for a little bit next season. Of course, happy, in this sense likely means uncomfortably awkward, given that Vought seems unlikely to let the opportunity of an All-American love story featuring their beloved sexual assault survivor heroine and a regular average dude pass them by. Hughie + Starlight 4EVA merch is almost certainly headed our way.
Plus, the idea of a super and a regular person together romantically lends itself to all sorts of interesting stories – particularly in this universe, which tends to see every relationship as a transaction, and every person as a marketing opportunity. (Just let them have some joy, show!)
Insert Your Soldier Boy Dance Jokes Here
Supernatural star Jensen Ackles is already slated to appear in season 3 as Soldier Boy, one of the original supes in The Boys universe. Whether he’ll be around for a significant portion of the third season or appear in just a handful of episodes, a la Shawn Ashmore’s Lamplighter in season 2, is unknown. But given Ackles’ longtime relationship with The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, it seems very unlikely that his Soldier Boy will only show up for an episode or two.
And, let’s be honest, with all the turmoil facing both The Seven and Vought itself, the idea that a classic hero like Soldier Boy might somehow come out of retirement as a PR move feels very much like something this show would do.
What’s Next for Butcher and Ryan?
So much of Billy Butcher’s arc in The Boys’ first two seasons was centered on Becca – figuring out what happened to her and then, upon discovering she was still alive, finding out where she had gone. But with his wife dead and her superpowered son Ryan handed off into what is essentially CIA custody, Butcher is now a character very much in search of a new arc.
Might that arc someday include the son of the woman he loved so much? That’s anyone’s guess, even if it does seem a bit like a waste to include the series’ first natural-born superhero and then shunt him off to a government black ops site almost immediately. Wouldn’t Becca have wanted Butcher to have some sort of hands-on presence in Ryan’s life, there as both a form of protection and a reminder of the fact that he doesn’t have to turn out like his biological father if he doesn’t want to do so.
Sure, Butcher isn’t exactly the emotionally open type, but this relationship could perhaps help us see what sort of man he was before his wife was raped and his life fell apart. At any rate, here’s hoping The Boys actually spends some time really exploring Butcher’s character beyond his Homelander vendetta in season 3.
Karl Urban’s performance has been nuanced enough to indicate that this is a man who is likely carrying more than his fair share of emotional scars. Let’s find out what they are – and what really makes him tick. Oh, and more of the dog would be pretty great, too.

So, Imma be a little more honest and forthcoming here because I don’t know. I feel like I’ve had a lot of shit going on lately and it’s messing with the writer part of my brain, which is what most of my followers follow me for.
Just a heads up, everything below the cut is personal, and some of it is gonna make people hate me...
My pop had a heart attack, died, was brought back, and then had two more heart attacks and a stroke... in less than 2 weeks. Then the new semester at uni started. Then pop came home and I became a part-time career. During this time my dad was fired from his job because he was spending too much time in the city with family (because we thought pop was gonna pass) so he had to move back... which is when he met his current girlfriend (16th in 5 years... not that I’m counting).
Here’s the thing... I’ve been struggling with depression for a little while because I’m so lonely. Like, crying myself to sleep at night because I’m so lonely. When my dad moved back to the city he realised how bad I was getting, and he expressed his concerns with his new gf (who I surprisingly like) and they both came up with a possible solution... they want me to date her son.
Yea, yea, yea, I know. Stepbrother, gross, weird, bad, whatever. I don’t care. I wasn’t even interested because I had feelings for someone on here. Plus he has a gf (which is a relative term considering the age difference (which I normally wouldn’t give a shit about but due to some unforeseen events, I’m now a bitch)).
Anywho, the son and I chatted online and things were (again) surprisingly nice. He’s a writer, he likes Supernatural, he’s funny, he’s smarter than he thinks he is, and he has good banter. I was trying hard not to like the guy my dad wanted to set me up with, but then I met him... and OH BOY.
Fuck me. Tall. Taller than Jensen. Blue eyes that fucking kill me. A smile that’s trouble, and charming, and goddamn it, kill me now. And he’s flirty as shit, too. But we both made it clear we were into other people.
And then I made the mistake of trying to figure out what was going on with the person on here. I thought we were in a confusing relationship, but that’s my bad for over thinking and feeling too hard and fast. Turns out while we’re more than friends, she’s not on the same level as me. That’s cool, and fine, and all good because we’re still friends and I still love her (I just can’t love her as much) but that also left a door open.
And Tall-Blue-Eyed-Hunk stepped right through that door.
I’ve been cheated on before. In fact, I have had terrible experiences with relationships and romance. I never in my life thought I would become the person I am now, because of all the shit I’ve gone through. The thing is, there’s chemistry between he and I, and we literally struggle to reign that shit in.
We talk all day while he’s at work. Like, easily 50-100 messages a day, or more. He’s over most weekdays. He’s picked me up from uni. We’ve gotten close. Have we done stuff?? Yes. Have we had sex?? Absolutely not. Doesn his gf know about me?? To a degree. Do I feel bad about the situation?? Again, to a degree.
Like I said above... I fall hard and fast, and I’m catching feelings for this guy.
How does this all affect my writing?? Well, it’s been affecting everything. For starters, I haven’t been sleeping because my head won’t shut up. I haven’t been watching the shows I usually watch. I’ve cut back on the amount of food I eat because I just don’t have an appetite to eat. I’ve been going for walks more just to get out of the house and out of my head (blaring music loud enough so I can’t hear my own thoughts). I don’t even drink as much tea as I usually do, which is a huge shock to the system. My whole head has been turned upside down because of this guy.
And every time I try to write, all I can think about is him. I spent 20 minutes writing yesterday and all I could do was think about him. It’s infuriating, and frustrating on so many levels.
I know some people are gonna read this and be shitty with me because I’m the other woman in a cheating situation. I know some friends are shitty with me and it hurts to think my decisions are putting space between us. But the thing is, unless I want to cut him off entirely I’m stuck in this situation. And I don’t want to cut him off. I don’t want to lose this friendship, as complicated as it is.
I’m addicted, and I actually enjoy the addiction.
He’s a repreieve from uni, and pop, and other dramas. He makes me laugh, and smile, and feel good about myself. It’s horrible, and wrong, and probably gonna bite me in the ass... but right now my brain is focused on being a little selfish, which I fucking deserve... everything else is just gonna have to wait.

Imagine dating Jeffrey in secret for some time and announcing you got engaged only to break Jensen’s heart, who is your best friend and was always in love with you.
“I've seen your red door and I want it painted black. No colours any more, I want them to turn black. I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes. I have to turn my head until my darkness goes.” the second you hit the high note the crowd erupted into cheers, your friends and family clapping for you.
And of course, as expected, no sooner had the song ended than your best friend was the first ne to stand up and clap for you. The wide and bright grin on his face had always felt intoxicating and you instantly felt your smile getting bigger as well. He would always and forever insist he was your number one fan and you always believed him. Especially when you saw such pride and excitement in his eyes. You giggled when he whistled and cheered, you were sure, louder than everyone else. Your big brother soon followed suit and soon everyone one was standing up and cheering even more loudly for you.
You've been doing this for years, you'd performed in front of the most famous and important people in the industry and millions of fans all around the world. Held plenty of performances in stages that you needed a good ten minutes to walk from one side to the other. Yet, somehow, standing on this small stage in front of the Supernatural cast and crew, performing for the celebration of the 300th episode, eyes locked with people that you've lived so much with, gave you so many more feelings; you could barely hold back your tears. It felt like you'd lived this through with them, all of theseyears, and you couldn't be more proud and touched to be in that stage at the moment. You looked at all of them, cheeks hurting from all the smiling.
Your eyes lingered on one man in particular, the man who could make your heart skip beats like nobody else, before you brought the mic close to your lips again “Thank you, thank you all so much! It's always one of the best things of my day to be around all of you. Well, all of you except my brother.” you pointed at the tall, so very tall, brunette who rolled his eyes at you “Gen, I'll always believe you're a hero for putting up with him for so long, I know I couldn't when were younger! Lucifer's vessel indeed and I- Hey!” you exclaimed and giggled when he threw a napkin at you from his table which was the closest to the stage.
“You know you love me, just admit it!” Jared said loud enough for you and most of the people around to hear “I gave you the best piggybacks and made your favorite cookies!”
“Sorry to ruin it to you big bro, but they were kinda, nearly, entirely terrible!” your words earned soft laughter from Jared's coworkers “I only ate them because I didn't wanna make you feel bad about it. But boy does your cooking suck! Plus, don't let me get started with all the neck problems I had from having to look up at you all the time.”
You could see your brother was trying to hold back his laughter and pretend to be offended, narrowing his eyes at you, not that he really could while Jensen and even Gen were laughing next to him and holding his stomach.
“And before you get to say “But you're on the set practically ever day!” let me point out-” you paused when everyone laughed “It's only for Jensen! He was my best friend before he became yours, mind you.” you said with a smirk, making Jensen's smile only get bigger. You could see the pride on his face as he said something to Jared you couldn't hear, his smile spreading even wider.
Your brother pretended to be mad but in fact nobody was surprised even in the least bit. They knew how close you and Jensen were, sometimes your brother would even tease you by pointing out how he spent more time with you than him – and it was true – from the first moment you met, about 14 years ago. You saw Jared scoff and brush him off with a couple words and you chuckled.
“I can't hear what he's saying but I don't think I want to either.” you narrowed your own eyes at him, everyone around you laughing.
“Don't pay attention to him, he's just jealous you love me more!” Jensen said loud enough for you to head, the brightsmile not leaving his lips and only making yours even wider. He always had this effect on you and you couldn't be more thankful for having him in your life. And as you saw your brother scoff, ready to retort but you beat them at it.
“Alright alright, how 'bout we just accept that I love both my brothers very much and am only teasing you?” you said with a smile and instantly saw the grumpy look fade from Jared's face. Mostly because it was impossible for him to hold back how happy those words made him. Maybe even relieved, but you didn't know that. His face calmed down and soon a wide smile had spread. You didn't notice how his shoulders relaxed just like you missed the way Jensen's smile fluttered. The only thing you could comprehend was how it was the first time you admitted Jensen was actual family to you as much as Jared and were probably making him emotional at the moment.
Probably. But in reality it wasn't even close, in fact the exact opposite.
“Now-” you cleared your throat “I know we had agreed to keep this a secret for just a bit longer but I tried for as long as I could Andrew and I seriously can't hold it back anymore. Especially as I take a look at Jared and Jensen at this moment... I know it's gonna be the most fun filming season 15 with these dorks!”
No sooner had the words left your lips that everyone around you was breaking into cheers, clapping louder than you'd ever heard. Your brother probably on top of all, making a grin form on your lips. You couldn't help but glance once more at your best friend. He saw things differently, understood you deeper – at least the grown woman you'd become because Jared still saw you as a little girl, his baby sister. There was a deeper understanding that sometimes you couldn't find the words to explain in the first place. Seeing the smile on Jensen's face, pure joy shining brightly in his eyes, gave you a bit more confidence and reassurance, especially as they both made their way up to the stage to you. A small squeak left your lips when they came to give you warm hugs.
With your brother being first and Jensen playfully pushing him off you, both incredibly huge compared to you that they knocked the air out of yours lungs. Not that you minded, you loved their hugs far too much, especially Jensen's who kissed your temple fondly. You didn't even notice how his arms lingered around yours for a bit longer than needed but it was probably because you held onto him a bit longer too.
When you both pulled away you had ridiculously big grins on as he whispered fondly “Welcome home, sweetheart.”
It was a soft unspoken agreement that whenever he saw you on set he'd welcome you in that way, as if with the two of them there – in the very place you'd met him – it was always going to be your home. Especially after you were gone for months on tour. You felt him give you a squeeze and smiled more, before turning to look back at the rest of the cast and crew. Mostly willing yourself to not get lost in his eyes and forget about everyone around you, the way only he could do that to you.
“Alright-” you spoke into your microphone “You know, I'm more surprised than you guys about this. How I even said yes to the role, even though I know for sure that working with these two assholes is going to be living hell, is beyond me.” you chuckled when the two of them snickered next to you, even if they tried to pretend to be innocent “But I tell you this, Misha and Alex, I hope you're ready to make a new friend. A friend who has a great advantage against these two withplenty of blackmailing stuff on my phone, big bro.” you ended up looking at your brother whose eyes widened.
“Figures she'll play the next big bad.” Jensen mumbled, shaking his head.
“We're so screwed.” he muttered, earing lots of laughs from the people around you.
“Now that you mentioned that-” a fourth, very familiar, voice started speaking and you all turned to look at the man with bright smiles – maybe yours more than anyone else's – as Jeffrey came to stand next to you. Everyone cheered, including Jared and Jensen who made sure to give the man a warm hug, you not missing a beat to follow soon afterwards. It was one of the hardest things of your life to make it quick and not let yourself hold onto him forever. Pulling away you shared a knowing smile, breathing out a soft “Hey” as he gave you a nod and the fastest kiss on the cheek.
“Can't seem to get rid of ya, huh Morgan?” Jensen teased with a chuckle, mostly because besides coming back for the 300th episode, Jeffrey had been around him and Jared outside the set much more than in the past. But truth was that he had actually been around you a whole lot more for a reason they had no idea about, not yet.
Jeffrey's hand stayed on the small of your back, leaving no room for Jensen's especially when the first pulled you closer to himself. Jensen cleared his throat but didn't let his smile fade, especially in front of everybody, and not over something so small. At least to most people, because for Jensen it wasn't. It might have been a subtle move but his body – and even more heart – ached for that kind of contact. Not that he could ever admit that to anyone or even himself.
Jeff chuckled but he went along with it “Careful there son-” he smirked “I'm coming back from a zombie apocalypse, got new tricks up my sleeve.”
Jared laughed “This will be one hell of a year, I know it. John Winchester's back in town and (Y/f/n) Padalecki's after us? Certainly very interesting year!”
Oh he had no idea.
“Now that you brought that up uh-” Jeffrey licked his lips charming smile on them, arm still around your waist, and his hand gave you a comforting squeeze as you held your breath “I think I had something to say about it, what was it? Ah yes-” he looked at them “As John Winchester and Mr Morgan I tell you this: Boys, if you dare come after and kill future Mrs Morgan, I'm gonna rise from the dead and kick your asses!”
It didn't even take a split second for everyone around you to erupt into the loudest cheers you'd ever heard. Your eyes all the time were glued on your brother, your nerves getting the best of you and your heart literally hammering inside your chest so hard you were scared it would beat out. You fidgeted with your engagement ring which you got only a couple days prior after Jeffrey's proposal. You held your breath, waiting for your brother's reaction. Not even your fiance holding you close was enough to calm you down because of how much you valued Jared's opinion and even more approval at the moment.
“Wh-what?” his eyes widened and you could see the true surprise and even shock on his face. You prayed it wasn't in the bad way. You had kept your relationship a secret for very long and the proposal came before you could realize it, just like the yes from your lips, but you couldn't hide it anymore for sure.
“Surprise?” you tried, but it came out a bit weak. You glanced at Jeffrey who gave you a comforting smile before you hurried to look back at your brother.
“You- you two are-” he blinked, motioning between the two of you before a smile slowly grew on his lips and a heart-warming laugh left “About freakin' time!”
It all happened so fast you didn't even have time to process it, but you were sure you could see your brother smiling, hearing him laugh – almost in relief and for that you had no idea – and hugging both you and then Jeffrey “Welcome to the family man!”
“A-about time?” you said, laughing a bit shakily, unable to comprehend what was happening. He was really taking it a lot better than you expected, he even seemed excited and happy for reasons you didn't get.
“You know, all this sexual tension was seriously not subtle and it was making me sick having to be in the middle of all of it. Plus, now you're all his and out of my hair for good!” he teased affectionately and you finally broke into a grin.
“Whatever. You know you're gonna cry at my wedding.” you giggled and he kissed your cheek, hugging you warmly the way he did ever since you were kids.
“I know I will, pumpkin.” he whispered affectionately “But I'm so happy for you.”
Another sigh of relief left your lips before you could even realize it. You wanted to tell him so many things but it didn't seem enough, not at the moment. You simply gave him the warmest smile you could and he a nod, as you both mutually understood that there would be lots of talking about it later. Right now your instincts told you to look for those green eyes you loved just as much as the man himself, the man whose approval you really needed.
You turned around to face Jensen with a hopeful smile on your lips, only to have it flutter when you noticed that the shocked expression on his face had not faded and was in fact less happy than your brother's previous one. It got you worried, making your stomach tie in knots. This was not the reaction you expected, nor the one you wanted. But why you got it, you had no idea, nor could ever imagine. No words could even describe how important he was to you or why, so seeing this look of almost pain about something that concerned your love life and future, took away from your happiness.
“Jens?” you whispered softly, approaching, eyes pleading “Is everything ok? Are you-” you fidgeted with your fingers “Are you not happy for me?”
His lips parted but the words got stuck in his throat because they'd be such a big lie. He should say yes, he should pretend he was excited even, but when his heart felt like it was crashed into a million pieces there was no strength in him to keep pretending. He would never be truly happy, not really, after this and after losing you to Jeff. And a shared look with Jared verified that he knew it too.
Only you could never really know. “Ye-yeah”

SPN ending could be Misha's fault
When J2 decided to end SPN, most dignified individuals were very respectful of their decisions despite the fact that it hurt something fierce. However there were those who were speculating as to why J2 finally decided to call it a day. Jensen did give a potential reason during VegasCon this past weekend.
The Budget
They got a question about what ideal location they would choose to shoot an episode if they had a choice. Jensen went off on a tangent about shooting on the road, and then mentioned that if they had the budget for that, then they would still have a show. So one of the reasons, was the budget
The Ratings
During a January 2019 interview with Deadline, Mark Pedowitz, CW president said the following: “As long as the ratings hold up and the guys (stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) want to do it, it’s really that simple. They have created something about these two brothers that actually transcends.” Jensen also said, during the panels, that the show ending was a joint decision, as everyone involved with show did not want the show to fizzle out. They wanted the show to go out strong. According to Deadline, Supernatural was a potent ratings performer, ranking as the CW second most watched and highest rated among adults 18-49 series in Live+Same Day only behind The Flash. However, if the show is such a high performer, why would Jensen talk about it fizzling out and what did he mean by that? It meant, in my humble opinion, that despite the fact that the ratings were good, there was potential for it to lose viewership in the coming future and end disgracefully. Perhaps, analysis of the rating chart was showing that in the future, SPN had the potential to drop too much in the ratings, and they wanted the show to end in a dignified manner rather than ''being booed off the stage'', according to Jared many years ago.
So Jensen mentioned the budget and the ratings fizzling out as the reason for SPN's demise. The joint decision was not to an easy one because, according to Jensen, they had discussed it for years. So J2 don't want the show to end. They need to end the show with dignity before its too late and they lose too many viewers. I can understand that.
So whose fault is it that the show suffered from budget problems and dangerous future ratings?
Misha made a joke about SPN continuing without J2 and instead starring him and Richard, and Jensen gave a savage reply which I laughed at. Unfortunately hellers assume that I cant understand the joke. On the contrary, how do they know Jensen was joking? If Jensen says the budget and the fizzling ratings are the reasons for SPN ending, and he is smart man, then he has to place some blame on Misha for the expensive and pointless spinoff that made a dent in the budget and contributed to the potential drop in ratings due to the lack in new material for SPN.
Well, @kaitlyn7777 , the spinoff was Misha's doing. He badmouthed the show in 2013, during his panel, by convincing his own band on minions that SPN is a sexist show, and his top tier minions decided that having a female cast in a spinoff would be the way to rectify that grievous wrong. The reason why he wasn't fired for that was because Bob Singer is his backstop. Bob Singer is potentially the reason Castiel was brought back after being killed off in Season 7. Bob Singer and Andrew Dabb, Misha's fan boys gave the following joint statement about the ending: ''We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve”. Every other person from Pedowitz to Jeffrey Dean Morgan credited Jensen and Jared. These two bum boys had to mention SPN's most glorified part time actor.
Since S7, Castiel has been doing nothing meaningful on SPN. Season 8 to 13 could have easily been written without him. Despite being Misha's bum boys, even they knew how talentless he is, so they kept him on the show doing just enough to not damage the ratings. That is why despite the minion claims that Misha is pivotal to the success of SPN, he was never given lead status or more screen time. Castiel never got his own spinoff. That status has never changed because even the execs realize how unimportant this guy is. Castiel is one of the expensive dents in the budget. They are literally paying him to take up space.
Anyway, his fans started campaigning for an all-girl spinoff. The show execs, fearing bad publicity, decided to comply. Dabb and gang started sharing their own budget, time and talents between SPN and the new project. That is when Donna and Claire got written into canon so that they can move onto the spinoff when the time came. SPN's own storyline suffered because the writers simply could not give it the focus it needed. That would explain the ratings. Only Misha's fans were doing any kind of campaigning. The rest of us didn't think that SPN was racist, sexist, homophobic or whatever other accusation the minions wanted to fling at the show. Because the minions and their sock accounts, gave the illusion of a majority, CW thought that launching a new spin off will secure a new batch of viewers for the next 3 to 5 years at least. Just long enough to go into syndication.
Unfortunately, the spinoff bombed in the ratings, because twitter handles can be faked but ratings cant. And other casual viewers didn't want to watch a ''girl power'' show with lackluster, under talented young girls complete with forced femmeslash. The spinoff was understandably canned and minions started to campaign for its comeback. Mark Pedowitz announced the following: “I’ll say it again, if there was a spinoff to be had, I’d love to have it. That said, I’ve come to somewhat of a conclusion that the show is the two brothers.” The fact that the President of a Network, who is in charge of many other shows, has to step in to shut down further talks of a spinoff for this one show, can tell you what an annoying group the minions are.
With the spinoff in the crapper, SPN now had a bunch of characters they didn't know what to do with. Characters like Jody, Donna and Claire. SPN cant kill off these useless characters because girl power and misogyny and whatnot. So they have keep them on board. These people are expensive add-ons. In order to make place for them, SPN initially got rid of other characters like Bobby, Garth and Charlie. Now that SPN is stuck with them, more characters had to be removed including Crowley. According to Mark Sheppard, he and Misha Collins were told to take a 70% pay cut and lose their series regular status so that SPN could secure Alex Calvert and Pellegrino. Mark said no because the deal was insulting, but Misha said yes.
Its funny that they wanted to ''secure'' Alex and Pellegrino so desperately, but don't know what to do with their characters now. So the thing that makes me smirk is that I think they were hoping Misha will also say no like Mark did. They wanted to get rid of him. They cant fire him because Bob wont let them. They were hoping Misha will leave on his own. Unfortunately for them, Misha shamelessly took the offer. Plus, he needs Castiel for all his other ''projects'', so a pay cut didn't bug him. He is making a killing from Gish, because whether you like to admit it or not, Gish is business.
Because of that blunder on the part of the writers, now they are stuck with Alex and Pellegrino, in other words two extra expenses. Then [I blame the shitty writers for this because it makes no sense] they started bringing unnecessary old actors back, including Felicia, Osric, Jim Beaver and Samantha Smith. There is literally no reason for bringing back Mary. The only necessary character for a few seasons now, was Michael. All this character juggling happened because they didn't spend time and thought on SPN due to the spinoff that Misha wanted. Why did he want the spinoff? According to Ruth Connell, he wanted a new home for Castiel, just in case SPN shut down.
Misha was like the parasite that ate the show he was already on, from the inside out, in order to secure a future for himself. And I think Jensen knew about it all along. That joke was a fantasy of Misha and Jensen saw right through it. Misha would die of happiness if he had a show all for himself. Why do you he pushed destiel so much? Because it kept him close to Dean and therefore relevant.

Supernatural stars cover EW to celebrate 300 episodes (and an epic reunion)
Samantha Highfill
January 16, 2019 at 12:00 PM EST
“REUNION TIME!”
Jared Padalecki is making an announcement. It’s early December, and he and his Supernatural costar Jensen Ackles are preparing for their final two days of filming the 300th episode (Feb. 7) as demon-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, respectively. As they walk onto the Men of Letters set on a rainy Thursday, they come face-to-face with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, a personal friend and the man who brought Papa John Winchester to life in the show’s pilot (and left the show after season 2). “It’s the culmination of 300 episodes,” Padalecki says of Morgan’s return. After all, John’s disappearance kick-started the brothers’ road trip.
“DAD’S ON A HUNTING TRIP, AND HE HASN’T BEEN HOME IN A FEW DAYS.”
Standing in his little brother’s college apartment, Dean Winchester first uttered those words in the pilot, and in doing so, launched Supernatural’s — and the brothers’ — first big mystery. “I had a good feeling about the show just reading the pilot,” Ackles says. “It had grit, the characters were well-written, and the story had miles to go.” Although he couldn’t quite predict how many miles the journey would be.
Supernatural premiered on The WB in 2005 and has since become the longest-running show in The CW’s history. The idea was simple: two brothers hunting monsters from urban legends, the kinds of things you’d hear about while sitting around a campfire. Bloody Mary? They killed her. Hook Man? Yep, him too. But it didn’t take long for the writers to understand that they might have to broaden the scope of the show if they wanted to get 20-plus episodes (much less 300). “We quickly realized that [conceit] would run out in a hurry, so even early on we expanded our horizons of what the show could be,” executive producer/co-showrunner Robert Singer says. But just how far could they stretch? And would they even get the chance?
Despite surviving the 2006 WB–UPN merger that created The CW, it took years forSupernatural to land on solid ground. “Bob Singer and I were fighting for the show’s survival at the ends of the first three seasons,” says creator Eric Kripke. “We’d have a meeting with the network that we informally called the ‘explain-why-we-should-give-you-another-season’ meeting.” And yet there was something about those conditions that felt right for a show about two humans trying to save the world from superhuman forces. As Dean recently said in a season 14 episode, “Impossible odds—feels like home.” But the land of impossible odds isn’t simply where the show (and the Winchesters) lived in those early years. It’s where they thrived. “In the beginning we almost mischievously wanted to see what we could get away with,” Kripke says. “There weren’t a lot of genre shows on The CW. It was mostly Gossip Girl and 90210. We were always like the goth kid at the back of the class that no one really wanted to pay attention to. So on this little weird horror show, we really got to push some boundaries that hadn’t been attempted in TV. There was no one saying, ‘That’s too crazy.’” So they took risks. They wrote a Groundhog Day-style episode called “Mystery Spot” that saw Dean die more than 100 times in one hour. They created “Hollywood Babylon,” an episode where Sam and Dean investigated a haunted horror-movie set. They produced “Ghostfacers,” an episode shot to look like a reality show about ghost hunting. “We always felt like we were on tenterhooks a little, but it helped us in a way,” Singer says. “We said, ‘If they don’t like us, let’s be bold.’ ” And in season 4, they made perhaps their biggest, boldest decision yet: They introduced angels (and therefore a much more religious story line) into the fold, which Singer identifies as the show’s biggest turning point. “I was concerned that would be a bridge too far,” Padalecki says of the angelic decision. “I wondered, ‘Are we going to turn o a lot of the people that came here to watch a scary movie?’” Kripke himself had fought the idea for years, until a pre–season 4 epiphany came to him while he was washing his face, of all things. “I realized the supernatural world was unbalanced,” Kripke says. “There was only evil. So I walked in the writers’ room on day one of season 4 and said, ‘Okay, there’s going to be angels…but they’re dicks!’”
Thus began what Kripke, who’s since created Revolution and co-created Timeless, still believes is one of the best hours of television he’s ever written: the season 4 premiere. “Lazarus Rising” introduced Castiel, the show’s first and longest-lasting angel. “Right before my scene, [then writer] Sera [Gamble] said, ‘Your life is about to change,’” remembers Misha Collins, who plays Castiel. He adds with a laugh, “I was like, ‘You’re so full of yourself.’” But Collins’ life did just that when he shifted from being a guest star to a series regular as his character survived multiple deaths — and even a brief stint as God — to become someone Sam and Dean consider family. “Angels completed the mythology,” Kripke says, and with them, the show was able to build to what writer-turned-showrunner Gamble refers to as the “regularly scheduled apocalypse” at the end of season 5. It was good versus evil. Michael versus Lucifer. Dean versus Sam. And for a while, everyone believed it was the end of the show. But when the network gave them a renewal for season 6, the writers were left to figure out what the heck comes after an apocalypse. The answer? Anything they wanted.
“A benefit of genre is we have such a huge runway in terms of ‘anything can happen,’” then writer and current co-showrunner Andrew Dabb says. “A medical show is limited in the scope of what they can do. We’re not.” So the next few seasons saw Supernatural push even more boundaries, with alternate realities, meta episodes (“The French Mistake,” anyone?), and new villains. That’s not to say everything worked, but that’s the beauty of a long-running show with a devoted audience — everything doesn’t have to work. “Fans would forgive sins of certain episodes because they love watching Sam and Dean,” Singer says. Because saying Supernatural fans like Supernatural is like saying Dean likes pie. It’s not about liking it. It’s about loving it. “I don’t think we have casual fans,” Singer says. “They live and breathe this show.” The #SPNFamily gathers all around the country (and globe) for multiple conventions each year, and every July they ll the largest venue, Hall H, at San Diego Comic-Con. It’s those fans who are devoted to Sam and Dean, even when their Impala might take a wrong turn. “The show’s ability to evolve and adapt is what’s led to it lasting 14 years,” Dabb says, adding, “Theoretically there are still a bunch of Leviathan out there running around that we never dealt with, but we don’t talk about that.”
Limitless options and viewer forgiveness aside, there is one rule the show has to follow — outside of standards and practices, that is. “I credit Bob Singer for instilling from very early on the idea that the show can go anywhere as long as the characters stay true to themselves,” former showrunner Jeremy Carver says. “The core of the show is the bond between the brothers.” With Sam and Dean as its foundation, the show can make episodes like season 11’s “Baby,” which was shot entirely from the perspective of the Impala, or season 13’s “Scoobynatural,” an animated crossover with Scooby-Doo and the gang. “One of the fun takeaways of watching Supernatural is that if you can imagine it, there’s probably a little town somewhere in America where it’s happening,” Gamble says. “It’s unlike any other show, really, in the history of American television.” And 14 seasons in, it’s still finding ways to surprise fans by, say, bringing John Winchester back.
“DAD?”
Standing next to his little brother in the Men of Letters bunker, Dean can’t believe what he’s seeing. This time he’s not enlisting his brother to find Dad, because Dad has come to them. And he hasn’t changed much. His beard has more gray in it and his face is thinner, but it will surprise no one that John comes back with a rifle in his hand. (Sorry, Walking Dead fans; the rifle came before Lucille.) But John isn’t the only one who’s changed. Standing across from him, Sam and Dean are no longer the kids who crammed toy army men into the ashtray of the Impala, or even the young men who went looking for him in the pilot. They’ve grown up. Their lives, quite simply, have changed. The same can be said of the actors themselves. In fact, Ackles is currently two years older than Morgan was when he filmed the pilot. “That’s how full circle it all is,” Morgan says. “Like a father would be, I’m very proud of the guys. It makes me get choked up because they’ve done so well here. Episode 300? That’s unheard of.”
As for how John comes back, let’s just say things get weird — don’t they always? — and there’s an altered reality at play. “Our guys are put in a position where they essentially can have a wish granted,” Dabb says. “They’re actually expecting something else, but [John’s return] comes from a place of want by Dean. The need for closure is really what brings John back into their lives.” But John isn’t the only person who comes back into their lives. As with any altered reality, not everything changes for the good. Without getting too specific, whatever brings John back also causes the return of Zachariah (Kurt Fuller), the no-BS angel who saw Sam and Dean as nothing more than thorns in his side. (Like Kripke said, angels are dicks!) Speaking of angels, this reality also affects Castiel in… certain ways. This time the boys are dealing with a different (though not entirely unfamiliar) version of their friend.
But for Morgan, who’s been asked for years about returning, it has always been about bringing John back in the right way. “The relationships between these three men were so open, so if I was going to come back, it would be nice to have some closure, especially with Sammy,” Morgan says. And before the hour’s over, both boys will get a moment alone with Dad. “This episode gives Sam a chance to forgive,” Padalecki says. Ackles adds, “For Dean, the whole episode is a dream that he doesn’t want to wake up from. But he knows he has to.”
Back in the bunker’s kitchen where Padalecki declared “reunion time” just hours ago, Sam and Dean are sitting around a table sharing a bottle of whiskey with their father and catching him up on everything he’s missed. Yes, they’ve saved the world (more than once). Yes, Lucifer has a son. But most important, John’s late wife, Mary — the woman he spent his life trying to avenge — is alive. Right then Mary rounds the corner for the moment she never saw coming, but in a strange way has always been waiting for. “Everything’s right in the world in this bubble of time,” Samantha Smith, who plays Mary, says of the couple’s reunion. “It’s very romantic.”
But as the Winchesters know a bit too well, all good things must come to an end. And when this is said and done, Sam and Dean will return to their life, driving down crazy street next to each other. Because despite the show hitting 300 episodes, nobody’s ready to call it quits just yet. “I don’t think we’re ready to throw in the towel,” Ackles says. “We’ve still got a little gas in the tank.” Put another way, Sam and Dean still got work to do.

14.18 - Absence Recap
I’m putting this recap under a cut. I’ve tried to cut it down, but nope, I have a lot to say about this episode. It’s highly critical so if you are a fan of Dabbernatural, you most definitely want to keep moving down your dash. Nothing to see here, the show is absolutely wonderful, carry on with your day...
Note, if I talk about Dabb’s writing, I mean him being in overall charge of the quality of writing as show runner, even though another writer might have written the episode I’m criticising. I’m not fully blaming the writers because they have no clear direction with Dabb as showrunner.
Positives are the brother moments, though I definitely felt that Jared and Jensen were struggling a little to find the emotion in this episode – which contrasts with the emotion of episodes like Lebanon where it came more naturally. Rowena is always a positive addition to an episode, and even though I talk about Jack being over utilised in my post, I still love my nougat eating Nephilim. Can we keep him and just send him off to Stanford and have him back for the holidays?
I’m struggling with the show right now. My mind is “helpfully” supplying that we have 22 episodes and counting until there’s no more new Sam and Dean content, and episodes like this, that are so far beneath the - admittedly high - bar set by Kripke are just depressing to watch. I’ve made no secret that Dabb is the worst showrunner to ever happen to Supernatural (I would have said any show, but I mistakenly started to watch Quantico a few weeks ago, so he’s been elevated recently). Even by Dabb’s standards though, this episode is epically bad. And it’s bad for so many reasons.
I had a quick look back at Dabb’s writing to see if he’s perhaps a better writer than a showrunner. IMO, he’s had more misses than hits since joining the show in Season 4. Hits include: Yellow Fever, Dark side of the Moon, Red Meat and Lebanon (though I wouldn’t put Lebanon in the league of the other 3 personally, it was a great Season 14 episode, but stacked up against others, it falls down the list). Misses include 2 failed pilots: Bloodlines and Wayward sisters, plus many others. He’s capable of good writing obviously, I just believe he’s lazy and tries to please the online fandom too much, completely forgetting that fandom is an incredibly small part of the overall viewing audience. He should write for the story first and foremost, only giving the odd nod to fandom, not allowing it to completely overtake – and in my opinion - completely ruin the story being told.
As showrunner, he’s started and dropped many plot lines (several of them running at the same time so you experience whip lash while viewing). He kills characters for shock value and brought long dead characters back for the same reasons. He’s then proceeded to butcher those characters (or ruin their earlier arc) until they are unrecognisable from the characters you loved. He steals plot lines and ruins them, his dialogue includes ridiculous levels of pandering. The show has too much drama, people constantly dying and there’s no fun anymore. When they try to do funny, it just falls flat, because they can’t write comedy in the same way as someone like Ben Edlund.
His biggest missteps though have been the forced pushing of “found family” onto a general audience that was watching the show for the unique bond between the siblings. Making Supernatural about “family” is just making Supernatural the same as every other show out there. The bond between the brothers is actually what made the show unique and special. Now it isn’t any more and the magic it had has been, not lost entirely, but heavily watered down under Dabb’s incompetence.
His other misstep has been too much focus on other characters that are not Sam or Dean. Seriously, I’m one of the people that likes Jack, but he’s had far too much focus this season (almost like they’re making a lame, last ditch attempt to try to get a character worth a spin off for this show). No longer whispers into the void but screams until I’m hoarse: PEOPLE ARE WATCHING FOR SAM AND DEAN YOU DUMBASS HACK, FUCKING WRITE WITH THEM AS THE CENTRE OF YOUR FOCUS AND NOT REDUCE THEM TO PRETTY FURNITURE!
For those of you that might come back with “But J2 want time off…” I acknowledge this, but I’ll come right back and point out that J2 are in the episodes, it’s just not about them and that is the problem, not the time off. As mentioned, I loved Jack in Season 13, now I don’t really care about him because he’s had too much of the story be about him, as if he’s the protagonist of the show and not Sam and Dean.
Anyway, on to the episode.
We recap on Mary badgering Jack and watching it again annoyed me just as much as the episode last week. Definitely slapped in the face with the stupid stick. When someone is out of control, you humour them and give them space. You don’t constantly badger them, making things worse – particularly if you witnessed said being lose control and charbroil to death another human (a very bad, murdery human, but still a human). And I don’t actually blame Mary, it’s simply bad writing, because if you want something to happen to get to the position you want to be in, write it better. Don’t make a character suddenly stupid in order to achieve it. Unfortunately, as I mentioned on another post, Dabb is a very lazy writer. He wants to get to point B and doesn’t care how stupid he makes his characters in order to get there.
Sam and Dean arrive home, immediately calling for ‘mom’ and ‘Jack’. Sam looks longer than Dean who is already sitting down with a beer when Sam returns from searching the bunker. They share a toast to “another miraculous Sam Winchester survival.” Dean: “Gotta say man, if Jack hadn’t have healed you…” Dean trails off and I try not to think of the consequences, particularly with how devastated Dean was during the few seconds he lost Sammy yet again. Dean reflects they’d be “up the creek without that kid.”
Jack’s all right as long as he’s saving Sammy and killing bad guys. Got it.
Dean brings his phone out to try mom’s cell. Sam brings his own phone out, presumably to try Jack. When Dean connects to Mary’s cell, they hear a buzzing and see Mary’s bag with her cell phone and keys on the other end of the map table. Both start to get a little worried.
Sam says he’ll try Jack. We switch to Jack and hear the phone ringing, but he doesn’t answer. He seems to be in shock.
Fast forward an indeterminate time and our boys have tried everyone; Jody, Donna, Charlie, Bobby, Rowena. Nada from most of them, but Rowena is a little more helpful and might have a spell that can track Jack and Mary down. Just as I’m wondering if Castiel was on their list, Dean’s phone rings, Sam looks hopefully at Dean (that it’s either Jack or Mary) but Dean shakes his head. He answers the phone without putting it on speaker and it is indeed Castiel, who got Dean’s message that Nick was trying to raise Lucifer. Dean updates Castiel that “the kid” says he took care of him, and they are just trying to find him and Mary at the moment. Castiel: “Are they together?” Dean: “Yeah.” Castiel: “Alone?” Dean’s got no idea what Castiel is on about, he answers that yes, they are together, alone. Sam is only hearing one side of the conversation and wants to know what Cass is saying. I have no idea why Dean doesn’t put the phone on speaker (I am however 100% certain it has nothing to do with non-existent Destiel), it just seems weird not to put it on speaker as they normally would, and there’s no obvious reason not to do so. Dean knows Castiel is holding something back and says, “If you’ve got something to tell us, now is the time.” Castiel explains about Jack using his powers to kill Felix the snake. “I was gonna tell you but…”
Urgh, how many times must we suffer through this? This is Castiel’s role on the show: try to fix a problem without telling Sam and Dean, because he doesn’t want to worry them. It leads to something bad happening. They find out, Dean is angry and wants no more to do with him, while Sam defends Castiel. Rinse and repeat. It’s manufactured drama and it’s bad writing, because if you are a decent writer, you can get drama within an episode without this. And the thing is, Dabb wrote Red Meat, loads of drama in that episode, none of it manufactured, so he can do it. Baby, Regarding Dean are other examples from recent years. Not a single one of these had manufactured drama, all absolutely fantastic episodes.
Castiel tells Dean he doesn’t think Jack is well. Dean puts the phone down on him. And thousands of anti Cass fans rejoice, and we will enjoy our few seconds of rejoicing even knowing that Sammy will at some point (probably this episode) vouch for Castiel as he has done many times in the past (undeservingly so imo – how many times is Sam going to say ‘it’s Cass’ before he stops getting a free pass and changes his behaviour?)
Dean brings Sam up to speed about Jack, and Sam has an idea for finding him. He uses the “find phone” app to discover Jack is in Nepal. As they watch, Jack suddenly jumps to Lima, Peru. Sam makes the genius (not really) observation that Jack must be flying. They watch as Jack jumps again to Paris, France, and then Madagascar. Dean: “What the hell is he doing?”
It’s night and we hear a flap of wings and Jack slumps onto the ground. He stumbles to get up, then checks his phone, he has 10 missed calls, 7 voicemails, and several missed texts, all from Sam, Dean and Castiel. Interestingly, the most communication is from Dean, but I headcanon that a large part of that is Dean leaving messages: “Where the hell are you, Sammy’s worried sick!”
We see a flashback between Jack and Mary where Mary says what he did was amazing (in dealing with one of the AU angels – can’t remember which one – Zachariah I think, but he was wearing a different meat suit than normal). The flashback ends and we see something appear in the dark behind Jack. It’s Nick, though it’s not Nick. His eyes flash red and I worry for a second that Lucifer is actually back, but no, he’s Jack’s sub-conscious. Taps chin in puzzlement. Where have we seen a similar storyline before, with this exact same character, hmmm?
Nick tells Jack that he can’t come back from killing Mary. Jack: “It was an accident!” Nick: “Okay, tell Sam and Dean that, I’m sure they’ll understand, it’s not like family isn’t everything to them.” Jack zaps Nick, telling him to shut up.
Oh, if only it were that easy, kiddo.
Sam and Dean are driving to somewhere – presumably still tracking Jack’s cell phone signal. Sam tells Dean that Cass is going to meet them there. Dean doesn’t answer. Sam tries to defend Jack, saying that maybe he wasn’t able to stop Nick from raising Lucifer and Lucifer took them both… “and Jack, he must have thought he was helping, you know, being kind.”
Dean (and me, puzzled): What?
Sam: With Felix.
Dean (annoyed): “Really, with the snake?”
Sam: I’m just saying, Dean, I’m trying to understand Jack without a soul
Dean (very annoyed now): We don’t know that he doesn’t have a soul! Okay, I don’t wanna… let’s… let’s not talk about it, all right... let’s just find mom, find Jack and we’ll figure it all out.”
Sam’s tablet indicates they’ve lost Jack’s signal, but they still head to where Jack was last, which is the cabin where Nick was killed. Very dramatic music as they head in there. The music is another thing that has annoyed me this season, it overpowers scenes rather than compliments them, it’s very distracting. Please stop it, because I’m not three years old and can understand perfectly well when I’m supposed to find something dramatic and when I’m not.
Sam looks inside the cabin, while Dean looks outside. Sam therefore is the one to come across Nick’s body. He shouts for Dean who doesn’t hear him (though last week heard him perfectly well from quite a distance). Dean comes across a spot outdoors which is covered in ash. He’s either just lucky he came across it, or he was tracking Jack and Mary’s path. Dean’s an outstanding hunter, let’s go with tracking. Sam soon joins him (also an outstanding hunter) and it’s clear they both seem to believe something bad happened at that spot.
Cass is in the car and he’s arrived at the cabin. He doesn’t go in. We see a flashback to where he was hunting with Mary. Jack having a flashback I understand, but Castiel has no reason to suspect that Mary is dead, only missing at this stage, so why is he having a flashback? Also, as other people have pointed out, this flashback of him hunting with her couldn’t have happened within the timeline. Lazy idiots that can’t keep track of the story! Upshot of their completely fake scene is that Castiel says he’s glad she’s back and that Sam and Dean are happy, “Finally they don’t have to be so alone.” Mary answers: “Castiel, they were never alone.” No, they weren’t Mary, because they always had each other and that’s all either of them needs. Other people are nice to have, but not necessary to eithers continued existence. Whispers: platonic soulmates.
Now, if Dabb meant that line to mean that they were never alone because they had Castiel, I look up the facts. Dean was 30 before Castiel dropped into their lives, he was 37 before Dabb started forcing him into the narrative as “family/brother” when in actual fact between the years of 30-37, he was rarely around, and they only called him when they wanted something. Over the last three years, he hasn’t exactly been a constant in their lives, no matter how much Dabb has tried to shoehorn him in to please the 1%ers at the expense of the general viewing audience and a decent storyline.
Moving on, Castiel finally gets out the car to go inside the cabin.
Sam covers Nick with a blanket. He’s worried. Dean tries to reassure Sam that they don’t know what happened, they don’t know what Nick did, he probably deserved it. Sam somewhat agrees Nick deserved it, but not in that way.
Sam updates Castiel on Nick and a “blast spot” behind the house that looks angelic, only bigger. Dean is turned away during this, giving Castiel the cold shoulder. He does chip in at one point though;
Dean: It might have been Lucifer, Nick was trying to bring him back
Sam: Yeah, but Jack said…
Dean: I don’t care what Jack said! We don’t know what happened, but I swear, if he did something to her, if she is…
Sam sighs and Dean turns to Castiel, “then you’re dead to me.”
Hold on, I need a moment.
“Then you’re dead to me.”
Sam: Dean…
Hold on another moment, while I speak to Sam in private about defending Castiel yet again. This is what I was afraid of, he always defends Castiel and Castiel is not learning anything. He makes the same mistakes over and over because he doesn’t deal with the consequences of his actions. Slaps Sam in the face with a parenting book that helped me enormously during the teenage years.
Dean: “No, he knew, he knew something was wrong with the kid, he knew it and he didn’t tell us. He didn’t even tell us!”
Sam says nothing (good, our little chat worked then).
Castiel: I was scared, I believed in Jack for so long, I... believed that he was good, I knew that he would be good for the world, he was good for us, my faith in him, it never wavered, and then I saw what he did. It wasn’t malice, it wasn’t evil, it was like Jack saw a problem and in his mind he just solved it with that snake…
Dean (angry): the snake? [he’s seriously getting annoyed that everyone keeps bringing up the snake]
Castiel (talking to Dean’s back): What he did wasn’t bad, it was the absence of good and I saw that in him, but we were a family (family mention alert for those of you playing dabbernatural bingo!) and I didn’t want to lose that, so I thought I could... fix it on my own, felt like it was my responsibility, so I left, and I didn’t tell you. If I could go back and just… just talk to him right then and there, I would, but I can’t Dean. I failed you and I failed Jack. And I failed…
Dean (turns around): No, no, Don’t even say it, don’t even say her name!
Dean steps towards Castiel, but Sam steps forward and puts his hand out with a quiet “Dean.”
I’m not sure what I’m supposed to feel during this scene. Sad, I presume? I just feel pissed that we are having to suffer through incredibly bad writing that has Castiel screwing up yet again, by going off on his own, yet again, and I’m going to have to suffer through some more puke inducing dialogue at some stage in the very near future that will have Dean apologising and all will be right with the world. Totally fed up with Castiel being used as nothing more than a plot point, I don’t even like the character, but no one deserves that. Bad, lazy writing that shows he has no purpose to the show and that he no longer fits and hasn’t for a long time.
Sam’s phone rings, it’s Rowena and at least Sam knows how his speakerphone works. Sam’s really upset as he answers. Rowena updates that she’s tried to find Jack, but his energy is too unstable. Sam: “And mom?” We see Rowena close her eyes and not answer. Dean orders: “Say it” and Rowena says, “I don’t know what happened, or where she is, but I can tell you with certainty, Mary Winchester is no longer on this earth”
Dean closes his eyes, we switch to Sam and then Castiel (rolls eyes because getting his reaction is pandering, because sure, let’s not waste footage by focusing on the two that are actually her sons). We get a minute of watching Sam and Dean, and can I just say how brilliant these two are. I mean I have no feelings at all towards Mary, Dabb completely screwed over her character and did nothing to make me care about her in any way, so I don’t feel anything towards her. But I do feel for Sam and Dean here, but only because of Jared and Jensen’s acting in this scene.
Dean’s quiet for a few seconds, then he breaks a chair. Sam flinches as he does with loud noises and someone needs to get my poor baby some help for that PTSD he’s been carrying around for the last few years.
Sam (to Dean): So, what do we do?
This isn’t Sam Winchester, the hunter, this is Sam Winchester, the little brother, looking to his big brother to have some answers, because he’s completely lost.
Dean: What we always do when we lose one of our own, we fight, we fight to bring them back.
Wait, what? Seriously? Are we retconning that narrative now too? I’m starting to suspect that Dabb hates the special bond and his personal mission has been to break it. Kripke we need you back, stat!!!! An untalented petty little man is ruining your legacy!
Sam asks “How… Billie? Dean says Rowena, she’s got the book of the damned and can resurrect Mary. Cass says they don’t even know where your mother is.
Dean (angry): Then go to heaven and find her!
In direct contrast to Mary last week, Sam knows how to deal with someone on edge. He knows when to keep quiet and he does as Dean walks out, telling Sam to tell Rowena that they are on their way.
Rowena is working on something when the boys arrive. But it’s not the boys, its Jack. He admits he killed Mary, but it was an accident. He asks for her help, but Rowena says the magic she uses on herself, only works if it’s prepared in advance (i.e. before death). Jack asks about the book. Rowena says there is a spell, and starts to talk about it, but when Sam and Dean arrive, Jack realises that Rowena has been stalling. Jack disappears with Rowena, just as Sam kicks down the door – which was hot by the way.
Castiel is at the children’s sandpit that leads to heaven. No one is guarding it, he calls for Naomi.
Jack and Rowena appear in the bunker, Jack passes an area on the wood floor which has marks on it. He has a flashback which shows a knife being thrown into the floor. Mary is teaching him knife skills. He keeps dropping the knife, Mary tells him he’s doing well though. Jack says when they get Dean back, Dean is going to kill him (for the holes in the bunker floor). Mary pulls the table over to cover the marks and says, “For what?”
This is a cute moment, and this is another thing I hate about Dabb. The writers are capable of writing characters, they just choose not to do it until they need to go for a cheap moment like Mary dying. It’s just bad writing. If they had done their job properly, all of these would have been real flash backs to real moments and we would all be genuinely sad (or kind of sad, given that Dabb has also ruined the meaning of death).
We see Sam arrive and he hangs back until Jack leaves, which concerns me that he’s avoiding Jack. Also, Bearded!Sam alert – when was this filmed?! He asks Mary how Jack’s training is going. He tells her he feels bad as he doesn’t feel he’s been there for Jack since he’s been so busy looking for Dean. Sam apologises for laying his problems on her. Mary: “No, are you kidding, it’s nice knowing I’m not the only one. [Sam frowns] with parental guilt.” She tells him that parenting is always a struggle, you always feel like you are failing, then you look at them and somehow, they’re amazing, somehow they’re literally… [Mary grabs Sam’s chin because he looked away]… the bravest, kindest, most heroic men on the planet.
Right, as I mentioned a few minutes ago, if this had been a real flashback, and death hadn’t been cheapened by Dabb, I’d have been very upset right about now if this had been the version that Mary had been allowed to develop into. Where tf was this when we were getting the crap we’ve been getting? As it is, I feel nothing – actually not true, I feel very angry at how crap Dabb is and what he’s done to my show.
Actually, the one bit I liked about this, which I mentioned in a separate post, was the flashback that Jack was having led into the flashback that Sam is having, and I like that transition between them.
Anyway, back at Rowena’s and Dean’s still angry. Jack’s got Rowena and the Book of the Damned and they’ve got no way of keeping up with Jack when he’s got wings. Sam’s a good brother and stays quiet, just letting Dean get it off his chest.
Dean is still pissed at Cass and says he should have told them as soon as he saw Jack go all… (no idea what he says here) … on a stupid freaking snake.
Sam is a good brother and stays quiet, just letting Dean get it off his chest.
Sadly no, that’s not what happened. Sam once again defends Castiel, saying it wasn’t just him. That they also knew that Jack was dangerous, they always knew. “You more than anyone, I mean from the very beginning you knew…”
Oh, so we’re going down that route now? The route that has to end with Dean always being right and everyone else being wrong. I thought we’d moved on from that, but okay, no.
Hammering my keyboard, we move on as Sam continues, “But you know we fell for him because he had a good heart, and a good soul… then he didn’t… And that’s on me too, by the way. I mean I’m the one who made the call to bring him back. He didn’t ask for that, I decided for him. And you warned me.”
Dean: You didn’t know, okay… we didn’t know.
Sam: Exactly, we didn’t know, but… he’d become our family (I’m losing count, is this the second or third mention of family in a single episode?)
Sam: You know, after Maggie and the other hunters…died, I just left, just… dumped Jack on Cass and left. I knew, I mean I knew something… was gonna… I just didn’t know it would be this.
I think Sam looks at Dean here, expecting him to explode at him, the same way he did Castiel earlier, but Dean doesn’t. He admits that he did too and it’s a nice moment between them.
Back to Rowena and Jack. Jack’s impatient for the spell. Rowena says the ingredients are simple but need to be compounded precisely. She tells Jack she could have fought him back at her flat. Jack doesn’t ask the obvious question “flat?” which disappoints me. I think she’s starting to get through to Jack, but Nick hallucination appears and he’s as annoying as Lucifer with the constant badgering. He tells Jack that trying to bring Mary back isn’t going to work. Rowena notices there’s something wrong with Jack (looking and talking to something imaginary), but she finishes the spell ingredients. Jack tells Nick to shut up, then asks Rowena if the spell is finished. Rowena tells him it is, but they need the last thing, which is Mary’s body.
Back to Castiel – I’d forgotten about him – he’s still at the sandpit, calling for Naomi. He refuses to go anywhere until he speaks to her. Duma appears and she’s one of my favourite angels after Zachariah, because like him, she tells it how it is, and I appreciate the honesty. Duma tells him that Mary Winchester is happy, she’s in heaven, a “special” heaven. (me: oh fuck, here we go, Dabb will retcon Sam and Dean’s soulmate heaven as a final fuck you to the brother fans). “Mary Winchester is complete. You and the Winchesters may not be, but she is.” (hmmm, not sure about this line).
Jack takes Rowena to Mary’s “body”, which is a pile of ash. She tells him she can’t make it work. Because Rowena can’t help him, Jack shoves her back to her “flat.” I think that’s a little progress over the previous episode since he didn’t flame grill her.
Rowena is pissed, she calls Sam and Dean to tell them they need to stop Jack as she fears he’ll bring something terrible back instead of Mary.
Jack gathers some ash to perform the ritual. He’s part way through when he sees the Impala approach. He uses his powers to stall the car. Unfortunately for him, Sam and Dean are within running distance of the cabin. The spell finishes and Mary’s body is returned, just as Sam and Dean arrive.
Jack looks devastated as he tells them it didn’t work. We hear the flap of wings and he’s disappeared. Dean runs to Mary as Sam approaches more slowly. Dramatic music as Sam kneels down beside Dean. We see Dean’s flashback in the car with Mary and at first I thought it was a poxy flashback compared with everyone else, but then I remember this is Dean’s flashback, this is what made Dean happy, this is what Dean has always wanted, his family (Sam, Mary and John) around him. That’s what his one wish with the pearl was. This is why it annoys me when I read meta that Dean’s arc is to realise he’s sacrificed his life and he’s going to stop doing that (i.e. let Sam die) and go live his happy life with the angel. No, that isn’t who Dean is, Sam has never been an obligation or a job to Dean, Dean’s face shines when he’s taking care of his family, that’s what brings him enjoyment and we see that in this scene with Mary, just having her in his life brings him joy.
I like how Sam is comforting Dean in this scene. This is what siblings do, in that moment Dean needed Sam more than Sam needed Dean and Sam steps up and provides it, even though he too is grieving.
Jack’s on his own, but not for long. Hallucination Nick is by his side, telling him that there’s no going back. Castiel, Sam and Dean will never trust him again. He tells Jack: “You can never trust them.” Which given the dramatic music, is an anvil for an upcoming episode.
Sam’s looking through family pictures when Castiel arrives. He tells Sam that Mary is in heaven and that she’s at peace. Dean arrived at the tail end of the conversation but stays off to the side. Castiel tells them that he saw Mary’s heaven and she’s happy. (I like the 2 dates on the door, someone has already made a joke about Dean and Sam’s doors. Like what on earth was Dean’s door like during Mystery Spot?)
Question for Castiel, if Mary is with John, then why is his name not on the door or does he have his own door that interconnects with Mary’s room?
He tells them Mary is with John, that there’s no sorrow or guilt, just joy.
Sam tells Castiel and Dean that Rowena thinks Jack just brought back a shell, a replica, incapable of holding life. Sam asks once again, what are they supposed to do now.
Dean: What we always do.
Sam closes his eyes, he knows what Dean’s talking about.
Now, if I was a shipper, desperate for proving my ship, I’d point out the clear separation between Dean and that of Castiel and Sam in this scene. Sastiel for the win, and once again, you guys totally deserve it.
What they always do turns out to be a lot more accurate this time. They’ve built a funeral pyre to burn the fake body. I don’t understand why Castiel is there, I personally think it was just a moment for Sam and Dean, but Dabb is intent on ruining the show entirely, pushing Castiel into everything, even though he can’t feel a fraction for Mary that Sam and Dean do. He’s just awkwardly standing there.
Sam steps up to put a picture on the pyre. We get some more flashbacks of Mary again and I’m feeling… well I’m still feeling absolutely nothing but anger at Dabb to be honest.
Castiel looks at Dean and makes a move to go to him, but Sam puts his arm out, very clearly “You go near my brother and I’ll kill you.” Not really, but he does stop Castiel and tries to smile in reassurance, kind of “give him time.”
Dean is once again kind of standing on his own in this scene, with Castiel and Sam slightly off to the side.
That’s it. That’s the end of this episode!
I wish!
Because we go back to the bunker and the camera glides over the table and MW initials have been added to that of Sam and Dean, and seriously fuck you Dabb. Fuck you for taking everything that was amazing and special about the unique bond between the brothers and what those initials mean, and crapping all over it. Others disagree, but that’s fine.
Onwards to the next episode where I think Sam will have to choose between Dean and Jack. Kind of like Season 4, where he was forced to choose between Dean and Ruby, even though he wanted both. Maybe he’ll get both this time around and Jack won’t be evil?
I’ll finish with this line from Dean to Sam in next weeks promo: “We need to stop Jack... but here’s the deal, we’ve both got to sign off on it.”

Bring 'em Back Alive
Supernatural spoilers, obviously. Master reaction post for this episode.
Be prepared for my Sabriel trash/Gabriel fangirl self to emerge
Pre show: Ugh why does Gotham have to air at the same time now I have to wait for the Joker stuff to happen. I watched some previews and. Um.
Sam: Gabriel, I need you.
Me: I know you're actively baiting me but I don't care this is beautiful this is straight out of fanfic THANK YOU THOUGH writers I will take what I can get let's be honest
I'm also so scared for my baby I hope he recovers soon. Seriously, he keeps curled up all the time and twitches at every touch. I shudder to think what he's gone through.
Okay here we go episode starting.
F off Ketch but also be an attack dog please Dean needs canon fodder (can you tell I don't care about Ketch much? I don't.)
CHAAAARLIIIIIIE my girl I did not expect to see you here!
...omg I swear if they just brought her back to kill her off ugh
Gabriel my baby. I'm loving Speight's acting, oh my god, seriously, give this man an award.
"Open up like a Choo Choo" seriously cas
No my baby, Gabriel...
"Where were you?" "Out." Jesus christ, lucifer with Jo, come on. Protective of Jack ish, possessive - not surprised he's not doing well in Heaven.
Fuck off Asmodeus ugh.
Duh it's personal, Ketch, everything is personal.
Okay why are we shooting Dean, come on now.
Going to a camp now, we have a direction.
Ooooookay Gabe with faking your death. I kinda hoped that wasn't the case but really what did I expect. And apparently porn stars is a consistent thing with him, jeez.
What the fuck Luci seriously. What's with the exorcism thing. These priests are dumbasses, and while the moment with the demon was funny, I don't know what you were going for here.
Ugh no Charlie is the sister he never had. Ketch taking care of Dean... good but also that wound is not promising.
Okay Cas and Gabe... my baby had better make it through.
Dean recovering, fine... let's move.
Sammy!!!!!!! You're right! Omg. Omg. This is what Sabriel is for. Oh my god.
"Gabriel, I need you."
"Porn stars." Seriously. But this does sum up Sabriel- oooh, is Asmodeus spying through Gabriel perhaps?
Now Dean, you should probably listen to Ketch. You don't have to be vulnerable to him - okay we're going there. I'll accept this. Dean is right, Ketch, you do suck.
"One more time. Bite me." I love you Charlie seriously.
-ooh I haven't seen this Avengers trailer yet I'm so hyped/not ready-
Gabriel omg. My baby, my baby.
Luci, seriously, you're at fault here. "Finding your bliss", right. No amount of self-help stuff is going to help you. Jo is completely right here dude, yaaas Daneel.
I see that Luci still hasn't learned his lesson, and that -Gabe, Chuck, Jo- throw it in his face as soon as they see past the idiocy.
No no no Charlie. YES BOYS
Oh Gabriel how I love you have I mentioned this? I swear Sam and Cas - but hopefully Gabe - will RUIN Colonel Sanders here.
Creeper much?
You will NOT hurt my baby. YES GABE. YOUR WINGS. I AM READY.
yes Charlie you would like your alternate self. I see the fanfics now.
Gabriel leaving... I'm sad but also not surprised. Also a bit angry. I really hoped you'd grown a bit, but fake-sacrifice plus porn stars plus torture does not a better person make. I mean, I'd want out if I just got rescued from endless torture. I'm actually pretty upset about it, to be honest - because I can't blame him, after all this. I would have hoped for maybe a calling card or something, more time in the bunker - well. You're free, at least there's that, I guess.
Cool leaving Ketch behind, but now they either have to grab some Luci grace or convince Gabe to come back. I'm guessing Charlie and Ketch will find Mary and Jack, and now I need Charlie and Jack to be bros.
Dean... god, Jensen with the angst (tm). So I'm assuming a Gabriel hunt coming up? Or something?
I'm still miffed at Gabe, as they retconned his sacrifice which made him so interesting. I'm peeved. But I'll allow it an have a headcanon that he's still keeping secrets and was probably actually dead for a bit with some other bad stories. He's always playing his own long cons so I wouldn't be surprised. Still, I gotta hand it to Speight for being awesome as per usual.

Author Notes: Okay so a few things. First this is my addition to the Gabriel Monthly Challenge on Tumblr (http://gabriel-monthly-challenge.tumblr.com/) This month we had a few to choose from but I went with… The trope for March will be fake relationship. So here it is! Now a couple things to point out before you read. This is AU. In this fic Chuck is NOT a prophet but an author. He wrote the Supernatural series which is being turned into a TV show. There are NO monsters in this (that we are aware of) and Gabriel is human. If you want Sam and Dean could have been cast to play Jensen and Jared on the show.
Warnings: AU-Human, Fake relationship, Insecure Chuck. One-Shot.
Relationship:
March
He was doomed. While he checked the schedule one more time, Chuck couldn’t help the soft groan from escaping his lips. In less than a week he would need to show up at his own convention, completely alone. It was bad enough that he had just broken up a two-year long relationship with his number one fan Becky, but now he was going to show up without anyone. What was worse was the first convention in his schedule was going to be in his hometown. While he anticipated some of the crowd to be actual fans of his book series the truth was most of them would be people he went to school with.
Boy he missed being able to use his pen-name exclusively. When Becky had suggested he post his real name to boost sales and show his face he should have said no. It may have lead him to where he was now, about to disclose he had a five-year contract to produce a TV series based on his books with room for more if the views were good. They had even managed to finish up most of the casting, the main characters being chosen who were almost exactly as Chuck had pictured them while writing.
Still, success in his work life was one thing; people had always known he had the chance to go places. They also teased him because with his shyness and inability to take a hint, it was likely he was going to die alone, he was even voted as such in his yearbook. He couldn’t go to the convention with only his success in his work, he needed someone to have on his arm or else he would never hear the end of it.
Pulling up the listing on his phone, Chuck sighed before posting the ad. He didn’t have enough time to try and find someone, he needed results and if he had to pay for them he could afford it now. Going about his day, Chuck only had to wait a few hours before there was a response, his phone dinging to inform him of an answer. Pulling up the app, Chuck couldn’t help but blush at what he was doing.
‘I saw your add and wanted to know if you wanted to meet and discuss terms? It lists that we live in the same area if you know the diner off Main Street? Barb’s? Let me know ;)’
Chuck bit his bottom lip before sending his reply. It was almost time to take a break anyway and he did love the food from the small diner. Making his way there, Chuck couldn’t help but feel nervous. The man hadn’t given him a picture or description to work off of however Chuck had posted his own picture in the ad. Opening the diner doors, Chuck glanced around when his gaze caught a pair of golden eyes looking at him.
The man was beautiful. His soft blond hair was slicked back slightly his bangs started to lose some of the gel which caused a lock of hair fell loosely onto his forehead. There was a slight five o’clock shadow on his jaw; just enough it would feel wonderful rubbing against his face while they kissed. Blinking that image aside, Chuck was startled as the main waived him over.
Taking hesitant steps, Chuck couldn’t help but feel slightly intimidated as the other man looked up at him. His eyes were gorgeous. Chuck almost didn’t catch what the other man said since he was distracted by taking the man in. When his name was called however, Chuck blushed brightly and listened to what the man was saying.
“There you are, I was wondering if I lost you there… you zone out often or am I just that stunning?” While the man spoke he wiggled his eyebrows in jest but Chuck couldn’t find much humour in it. “I’m sorry… I just…” Once Chuck started to stammer a reply the man softened his smile so it was less teasing and more reassuring. “Hey,” the man began to speak. “It’s fine, I mean we should be attracted to each other at least a bit to pull this off, right? Sit down and take a load off and we can plan this out.”
Chuck realized the man he had been staring at was the one he had been looking for and sat down on the other side of the booth his cheeks flushed. “Let’s try this again,” said the main, still with the softer smile on his face. “I’m Gabriel and I’m here to answer your add.” Chuck nodded his head, reaching out with his hand to shake Gabriel’s. Instead of shaking the hand though, Gabriel brought it to his mouth and kissed the back of it. It should have been insulting, feminizing, but Chuck couldn’t help but feel warmed by the action.
“Hi… so ummm… what all do we need to cover?” asked Chuck pulling his hand back. The waitress showed up then, having recognized both customers she easily took down the orders with a smile before leaving the table. Gabriel smiled and picked up the glass of water she left and brought it to his mouth. Chuck couldn’t help but watch as Gabriel’s throat moved to swallow the water. “You know if you keep looking at me like that selling this isn’t going to be a problem.”
Gabriel set his glass down while speaking, his golden eyes not leaving Chuck’s blue ones while a smirk crossed his face. “What we need to figure out is our back story. I also have an alternative payment method if you’re interested.” That caught Chuck’s attention. He had posted that the payment wasn’t negotiable, he had offered a good deal of money plus he would be covering all food and travel costs for the long weekend.
“While I will completely take you up on your offer to feed me and travel, instead of money I would rather you do something for me.” Gabriel hunched slightly then, and for the first time Chuck thought he saw some vulnerability there. It was enticing and made him want to reach out to the other man. “I looked you up before I responded. I have a few friends in your networking department for the show and so I know what you’re announcement will be.”
Chuck sucked in a slight breath, while it wasn’t exactly something to sign an NDA over, he hadn’t expected someone to release that his books were going to be on network television. “What I would like instead of the money would be to spend a day on set if you could arrange it. If not I’ll still do this for you, but I’ve been directing small films for a while and I think I could learn a lot watching a day of filming on an official set.”
Gabriel stopped speaking while the waitress returned with their food. Picking up a French fry, Gabriel waved it slightly while speaking. “Like I said, if not it’s no big deal but I thought I would give it a try.” Chuck bit his bottom lip as Gabriel started to eat, while he wanted to help Gabriel he honestly didn’t know if it was something he could pull off. He had been invited to watch the filming process, an invitation that he was told would not be retracted in case they needed his input.
“I can try,” Chuck heard himself say which caused Gabriel to look up from where he had been about to take a bite of his burger. “I don’t have much sway, I mean they want me around enough to ask questions and stuff but overall I don’t have much say in what goes on… but I’ll try.” Gabriel smiled then, putting his burger down and reaching across the table with his palm up for Chuck to take. When the smaller man did they both felt a jolt go through their palms, Gabriel rubbing the back of Chuck’s hand for a second with his thumb.
“You know, I think we should say we met at a book signing. I saw an ad you were in town and being the fan I was I couldn’t help but try to have my own collection signed. Bringing my favourite book I was nervous as hell and nearly chickened out until I saw you.” Gabriel had let go of Chuck’s hand to take a bite of his burger, Chuck starting to eat as well. “You were flustered; because as much of a fanbase as you have it still gets to you that people enjoy your work. The second I saw how adorable you were I changed my plan.”
“Your plan?” asked Chuck to which Gabriel nodded. “Yeah, instead of wanting an autograph I decided what I really wanted was a date. I waited until the signing was done, and as you were about to leave I came up and asked if I missed my chance. When you said you were sorry and opened your mouth to most likely offer it anyway, I asked you if I could take you out to dinner to make up for being late.”
Chuck couldn’t help but actually believe the story Gabriel was spinning. He would have done it; if Gabriel came up and asked him out on a date like that he would have been so flustered he would have agreed before even thinking about it. “I chose a cozy diner where we could sit and talk without any kind of pressure, and by the end of the night I had secured a second date and your number.” With a smirk on his lips, Gabriel caught Chuck’s eyes and leaned back on the booth.
“What do you think?” Gabriel asked. “Think it would work along with some PDA?” Chuck’s eyes widened at the last statement, nearly choking on the food in his mouth before he swallowed it down. “PDA?” he asked his voice squeaking slightly. Gabriel once again reached over and placed his hand on Chuck’s. “Nothing like making out in dark corners like in high school… but when I’m with someone I like to make sure everyone knows it. Small touches if you’re comfortable with it. I like placing my hand on the small of their back, holding their hand or wrapping my arm around them. Sometimes a small peck here and there. If you’re not comfortable with it it’s fine…”
“No,” began Chuck. “I uhh… I would like that.” Though he didn’t think it was smart of him to let Gabriel get this close when he was already attracted to the man, Chuck couldn’t help but want to milk as much physical contact with him as possible. “I also have a habit of using nicknames more than actual names, so you might want to prepare yourself for that.” Commented Gabriel. Chuck nodded his head to Gabriel’s statement. He wouldn’t mind being called baby or something of the like by the man.
“How are we getting there? Flying or bus?” asked Gabriel, still keeping his hand on Chuck’s while the other finished his meal. “We have a tour bus, it will only be us and my ex… she’s organizing the whole thing besides the driver of course.” When Chuck mentioned his ex Gabriel squeezed his hand for a moment. There was suddenly a grin on Gabriel’s face that Chuck wasn’t certain he would like what the man was going to say next.
“Does you ex know about me?” Gabriel asked, his thumb lightly rubbing Chuck’s hand which he had yet to release. Chuck shook his head in response. “Good,” responded Gabriel before linking their fingers together on the table. “Cause we can practise by convincing her of us being together, think of it like a trial run for when your former classmates start giving you hell. Just remember that I’ll be there for you, okay?”
While he didn’t want to, Chuck couldn’t help but smile as Gabriel looked at him with such an earnest expression. He felt safe with Gabriel, like the man wasn’t going to harm him even though it was likely that once he delivered on his payment Chuck would never see Gabriel again. There was something there though, and while Chuck was shy at the best of times it seemed Gabriel was willing to grab it with both hands so neither let it slip away.
Needing to make sure Gabriel wasn’t making all the steps, Chuck cleared his throat before speaking. “We ah… we might need to be… physical with her around I don’t…” Gabriel squeezed his hand around Chucks for a moment. “I am more than okay with that, how about we meet up later in the week to get more comfortable with each other? There’s a new Marvel moving playing if you’re interested.”
Smiling Chuck spoke softly. “I’d like that… Wednesday?” Gabriel nodded and pulled Chuck’s hand until he could place another kiss on it. Watching as Chuck blushed again, Gabriel couldn’t help but feel relieved that the other man was attracted to him. At some point he was going to have to tell him that his original plan was to try and wiggle a date out of him at a signing, but his agent hadn’t allowed him through the line once the signatures were over.
Thank God for Craig’s List.

10x05 “Fan Fiction” // 11x13 “Love Hurts 11x16 “Safe House” // 12x20 “Twigs & Twine & Tasha Banes”
“Of Twigs & Twine and Scarecrows & Tin Men” or “The Thing about Hearts and Minds”
I finally found timt to rewatch the episode and write few thoughts down. I know this is probably not interesting to anyone anymore as it’s been a couple of days, but I feel like typing this out anyway.
The symbolism and metaphors surrounding the “Wizard of Oz” have been introduced in Carver Era in S8 and have been used repeatedly in relation to the entire MoC arc and also carrying on and over to the Darkness/Amara arc which of course could also still be considered the MoC arc. Especially last season @lost-shoe and I have been talking a lot about how Amara and how she used “mind control” and was able to pull Dean’s strings parallels and compares to Calliope in 10x05 “Fan Fiction” working her magic by controlling the scarecrow (missing a mind of its own) to protect the narrative and story the high school kids had penned about “Supernatural”.
Since that episode in S10 a lot of time has passed and S11 saw Dean losing his free will and agency to Amara and it was heavily suggested all throughout the season, like in episodes such as 11x16 “Safe House” that Dean may truly be turned into a puppet and a screcrow to Amara’s will at some point down the line. Of course that didn’t happen, but it seem that Dabb has taken said arc and trasnferred it and re-imagined it, so that one season later we may end up at a similar point as last season was meant to end at (because we know that the season was meant to end differently as initially God was supposed to die, but the CW wouldn’t allow that), because thrughout S12 rather enragingly for anyone who cares about Dean the narrative has framed Dean to be losing his agency and free will and his choices and wishes being ignored by the people closest to him and them by that action in extension turning Dean or rather treating him like a scarecrow - ignoring Dean’s input and thoughts or doubts or apprehensions, basically his mind - while the season as a whole to me lacked one thing in particular: emotion. Or differently worded and coded in “Wizard of Oz” language: heart. Because Dean’s emotions too were walked all over ignore or rendered as either “over the top” or “unimportant” thus effectively treating Dean also like the tin man, missing his heart.
Now this week’s episode brought both the scarecrow and tin man symbolism back in a major way and intertwined both with one another and I personally feel that it shows rather heartbreaking and dark things ahead for Dean - and yes, I know I’m biased cause I’m a Dean!Girl and that’s where my focus goes, so all of this may end up completely wrong, but I’m going to type it out anyway, because this week’s episode was thick with narrative callbacks visually as well as thematically to a few episodes also focsuing majorly on the heart or the loss of it and the mind and mind control.
Of course Max’ and Alicia’s story was meant to call back to the entire Supernatural origin story with the missing mom opposed to a missing dad, a deal with horrific consequences and two siblings who head down dangerous and dark paths, because they can’t live without the other. And while the Banes’ tale of the week definitely called back to a multitude of past Winchester mistakes and tragedies, I feel it may also be rather suggestive of what will happen in the season finale.
@lost-shoe has been talking a lot about how this season has been playing with Dean death allusions and while I personally don’t think they’ve been handled consisently or rather well, I agree that in the second half there were a few things suggesting Dean will pay the price - his life - for his loved ones walking all over him during the season and that maybe being resolved with Dean actually truly becoming tin man and scarecrow after he has been treated as those all season and the events of the latest episode to me suggest it is entirely possible for things to go that bad (As a brief in between, what still bothers me majorly about this entire arc is that Dean when he dies due to how he was ignored all season, this entire arc wasn’t about him, that would only be the case if Mary or Sam would be framed in a way narratively that suggests that they realize that they should have been more open towards Dean’s words, but that is sadly not the vibe I am getting from this arc, but rather feel that Dean will just further be used as a prop to propel other characters’ stories - namely and in lin with this week’s episode and siblings decision for Sam to possibly go to rather dark ends to “bring Dean back” - should he really die).
Because the callbacks to Calliope and the scarecrow were to be caught in the details, such as the robe the witch wore or the colours of the flowers
the concierge arranged or the creepy doll (which was of course another nice allusion to the whole puppet theme of the episode as well as Dean waking up among flowers when first meeting Amara in S11) on the stairs wrapped also in purple. It’s impossible to see due to the colouring I worked with on the gifs, but the purple definitely aligns Calliope and the old witch. But of course not just through that. The witch literally turned these people into scarecrows, made out of twigs and twine. She made them “her creatures”, puppets she can control and pull the strings of, “beings” she can mind control while she killed the real people by ripping out their hearts and making the real person tin men, corpses missing their hearts. That action as such also called back majorly to last season’s episode “Love Hurts” featuring the quareen, that set out for its victim’s hearts and could only be stopped when its own heart was sliced apart. Only after that it dissolved into nothing in a similar fashion as the witches puppets/scarecrows turned to dust once Dean shot her.
Now, as I said during live watch already on friday, the colour combination Dean wore during this episode is heavily tied to topics of loss of self and mind control as they were presented in the MoC and particulary the Amara arc. It’s not accidental imo that we saw Dean wear the red shirt of doom and the dark blue jacket on top here, because - as I said above - I think this season will end very bleak (but when is it ever not lol). It’s not just the colour and clothing however that to me suggests tragedy ahead, it’s also
how in this shit for example Dean is directly framed with the scarecrow-esque twigs and twine creature thing behind him. Most of all however it’s the Banes’ siblings serving as the biggest warning sign, because Alicia - Dean’s mirror - dies and her brother, unable to let her go, makes a deal, takes a burden (yes, it’s all an MoC repeat and callback to Sam removing the MoC too, hell even the silly knife looks like the first blade sigh), overrides his sister’s agency, carves out her heart, makes her a tin man and puts it into the scarecrow. It is all kinds of messed up when you keep in mind that he has the power to control her now, even worse that she is “not real”, but he takes that as better anyway, plus Alicia may have all her memories, but she is hollow in the end, she doesn’t know she’s not real - it’s also a parallel to Mary and her return and her struggle.
So if you keep this in mind and treat this episode as a piece of foreshadowing - and this episode seemed thick with it - then I think it is not out of the real of possibility that Dean will die, painfully likely, due to his loved ones misplaced trust and ignorance over his doubts and thoughts all season. And I think that either Sam or Mary (should she not die or raise Baby Lucifer and walk away) will make some sort of deal, bringing Dean back maybe, but just the scarecrow version of him anyway... And if they went there it would allow them for Dean to still be around, but not as truly him of course (@suebsg9 I am going to reply to your ask in here, because it feels fitting), so maybe what Jensen teased with “something purgatory-esque” happening could be the true and dead and now heartless, tin man!Dean either locked up in the Empty after all (which would fit the pattern of something being released and locked away - where Dean usually gets to be the one ending up locked away in some other dimension) or he may go to Heaven and the scene the boys talked about before with lots of beloved character being part of a scene they shot for S13 ends up being at Harvelle’s or something. But of course all of this is just crazy spec.
But just to mention it last but not least, the topic of mind control here also directly relates and connects to to the nephilim arc as well as the BritMoL arc as the gifs hopefully can capture above. Dean in this episode said outright in the beginning that Lucifer Jr. isn’t even born and is already “sock puppeting” Cas, meaning mind controlling him. Likewise Ketch when tieing Mary to a chair that reminds a great deal of the one we saw Naomi torture Cas in also S11 is revisited when he tells her that “he can keep her safe” even if everything else falls apart as long as “she plays her part” - which of course calls back to Calliope who protected the narrative in the musical, but also reminds of Dean when he was possessed be the soul eater and tried to coax Sam into giving in.
