Shiu Kong Headcanons/Analysis 🚬🖤

a/n: this started out as headcanons and soon became an analysis of all my opinions and thoughts born out of love for this man. 💕 Material from these hcs and analysis may be used as inspiration for other writing/art, please just credit me if you do. 💕

-He's the type that's constantly running late but somehow manages to still arrive on time.

-He has to drive often for work, but he dislikes it.

-He does like his car, however.

-I personally think he has a couple tattoos underneath his suit.

-This man is loyal. he has known Toji for over 10 years, and helped take care of a child that's not his.

-Therefore, he would not cheat.

-He's an exceptional people person and good with social interactions. He negotiates and mediates for a living. He also honed these skills as a detective who must be able to use discernment and judgement to ask important questions, think critically, and read other people.

-He can snuff out if someone is being disingenuine or full of shit like it's nothing.

-His source of stress is entertaining clients/hospitality so therefore, despite being a master at communication, he gets social burnout and has a limited battery. But, he has enough tact and restraint to air out his frustrations in private. An example being when he kept a cool expression during Sonoda's cuckoo rant, and didn't laugh with Toji about it until after he left the room. He definitely gossips in my opinion.

-He has an extroverted way of expressing his love. I see him as indulgent at times. His vices are cigarettes and cheese which can be pricey (and unhealthy) commodities, and collecting tropical fish (not a cheap variety), which implies he has an aquarium, which is a very expensive investment which requires upkeep. I see him spoiling you with little gifts and trinkets, taking you on nice vacations, BUT to a point which I'll touch on in a sec.

-He has "restaurants that he uses for clients." So that demonstrates he has intel or the ability to look into people's tastes and what may impress them. Therefore I see him applying the same thoughtfulness to his partner.

- Shiu has an eye and appreciation for luxury but he does not identify as rich. When he's telling Toji how the Star Religious group helped them:

"Check this out, the president has a private jet." But yet also states that "Rich people think on a different scale, man."

I think Shiu is well-to-do, as we've seen he would get quite the generous cut from the job with Toji, his suit, his possession of gadgets (laptop, cellphone), owning a car, but this separation he makes between himself and rich people shows that he must either be somewhere in the middle, or upper middle.

Or, it's possible that he is rich but he doesn't identify with a rich person's mentality. It could also mean that he was raised from a more modest background or merely possesses a frugal mindset that makes him view himself as different.

-But I believe he does have some level of frugality/money conscientiousness and we see him use practicality once again when he's on the phone with Toji, reminding him that despite the bounty there's handling fees, posting fees, etc.

-He is gracious and can demonstrate humility on occasion based on his response to Sonoda giving Toji a bonus. "Do you mean it? I know it was a necessary expense but you've helped us a lot."

-I imagine in a relationship that selflessness and modesty would come out. He wouldn't want to trouble you too much with things that he sees as going out of your way for him. Especially since hospitality is a cause of stress for him, so he wouldn't want to burden you with the same thing.

-His strategic and logistical way of thinking is also demonstrated when he meets Toji at the boat races. "What were you thinking, letting go of the entire deposit?" He is risk averse and doesn't take them unless it's calculated. He acknowledges that traveling on public transportation with a captive can raise suspicions, showing he's definitely got social awareness. Another pen in his cap for being a master at navigating social situations.

-The previous point is also another credit to his background as a detective. Detectives must review evidence and be analytics-driven. Therefore, I believe he is an extremely observant person. He's sharp, intelligent, strategic, and can remain calm in the face of conflict.

-Despite his illicit line of work, he has some preference for order and structure, possibly tapping into his values from his old profession. "It's my duty to report how the job is going to our client."

-And depending on how many years he worked in that field, it's very possible that he's retained most of those qualities in some way to this day, even if his sense of justice/ethics has been warped. I think he still operates with his own reasoning in a way that makes sense to him.

-Work as a detective is no joke. I believe this man has probably witnessed unfathomable horrors and trauma we don't know about. There are most likely cases that haunt him, based on what most legal/criminal justice professionals can tell you about their experiences in real life.

-He can also see curses despite not being a sorcerer. That has got to be terrifying to be able to see them while not possessing the ability to defend yourself against them.

-His exposure to the legal system, and the dark side of human nature I believe would make him susceptible to all the corruption he's witnessed.

-My theory is he must have lost faith in it along the way and most likely resigned to a more pessimistic world view. This can explain how he went from being an agent of the law to his illicit and criminal dealings now, and could also explain why he ended up in Japan from his native Korea.

-He is also desensitized to the things that he's seen. He can stand next to Toji and watch a giant worm vomit a dead body on a table with his hands in his pockets. Once again, the gravity of some of the things he's observed in his life must have been pretty gnarly if this doesn't phase him.

-Outward appearance is important to Shiu. Dressing and looking professional. Source: when he asks Geto: "Are you really wearing that?"

-He has a sense of propriety. We see this when he corrects Toji that he was not speaking to the founder with a sigh. Therefore, he has some level of manners and tact. He's no doubt chivalrous with women.

-He can read between the lines. Despite Toji's orders, he was able to figure out what he was planning at the time and is confident enough in his own reasoning to make the call to keep Kuroi alive. But note that this judgement was one based on strategy, not mercy. Shiu is still indifferent to killing.

-He anticipates things and is proactive and takes a forward thinking approach coupled with knowledge that he already possesses to make decisions. He knew that relief from Kuroi's rescue would wear them down more than the heigtened stress from failure. Therefore, between Shiu and Toji, he is the brains of the two. He fills in the gaps with his cunning and is very through and intuitive to clues that Toji might have overlooked.

-Shiu doesn't like to linger on the past or choices he's made. Evidence of this is when he's walking outside with Toji after the job is done and Toji is questioning why Shiu didn't kill Kuroi when he had the chance.

"It all worked out in the end, didn't it? And stop running your mediator ragged."

In other words: "Don't give me flack for not doing what you would have done in the moment. We got the job done, end of story. And stop stressing me out."

-I think Shiu is definitely wise enough to know that smoking is unhealthy for him, but he uses it as a crutch for the stress he's under. He was already smoking a cigarette while on the phone with Toji as they were discussing the job and his concerns with Toji's approach.

-He has a playful, informal side with people he knows. He sasses back with Toji: "I already did, dumbass."

-He remembers things about people. Despite it being several years since he associated with Toji, he knows that Toji's "never been the type who's been cut out for making easy money." His line: "Almost forgot, how's Megumi doing?"

When he went to speak with Toji, he had enough consideration in mind for him that he meant to ask about the boy.

-This also shows that the relationship Shiu had with Toji and his son must have been impactful in some way for him to recall his name, have some level of investment in his wellbeing to ask about him(and had to have been a motivator for him to step in and help in the first place), despite Toji answering that he doesn't know who that is.

-"I'll only see you again for work." Shiu made that decision. There must have been some sort of interpersonal fallout between the two men that shows that Shiu would not associate with him on a personal level.

It could very well be due to Toji's decline after his wife's death. This means that Shiu must not have been fully corrupted at that point, if he was willing to distance himself from that sort of behavior at that time.

Or, he might have been like-minded as Toji, but it might have been in response to a personal slight that was committed against him or that he took offense to.

Not quite sure, but I'm convinced it must be personal in nature if he will not walk into that territory with Toji again, however it was not egregious enough to not be willing to conduct business with him.

-"If we don't work together again, I'll see you in hell." So Shiu is a conscionable man to some degree. He is aware that he's flawed enough to earn that level of punishment. But he's resigned himself to the way he is now. He doesn't try to redeem himself because his thinking is: "it is what it is." He doesn't trouble himself with his past decision making as I made in an earlier point.

-Overall, he's a troubled man underneath, but he has bits of humanity he clings onto(he dislikes black beans, loves cheese, smokes his cigs, collects pretty fish). This is why I think he's such a fascinating and wonderfully well-crafted example of a morally grey character that we unfortunately only get a minor character's world's eye view into. His qualities are elusive but they are all very much present if you delve into him, and I adore him so very much.

And we all can acknowledge, he's very easy on the eyes.💕

My thoughts on Hazard's design

Before I say anything - this is all just my personal thoughts on the design. It's absolutely okay if you disagree with me. I also wanna add that in order to be punk, one does not need to look like a typical punk to say it like that. Punk is about music, culture, and belief first and foremost.

Also just in case of any mistakes or lack of knowledge - as much as I think of myself as part of the alternative community, I don't have that much experience with cuz I don't really have alternative friends. So please feel free to correct me on some things!

If you don't know, I have already stated on my Twitter that I am disappointed with Hazard's design when it comes to his look. And that's probably because I was hoping for something else than what we got

Like I said, I know that not every punk or alternative person have to look alternative to be a part of that group. However, I just say I was hoping for some good representation. Punk to the max as I would say.

I guess I was hoping to see a mix of a typical punk with overwatch elements - as in lots of body mods (piercings, tattoos) along with some crazy hair and punk attire (choker, patches on jacket and pants, perhaps boots with laces code)

I must say that I find the design to be pretty boring and maybe a little basic/generic. For me it really lacks that alternative/punk edge, since being alternative is about embracing yourself and not being afraid to be yourself.

I was really hoping to see a hero that's stading out a lot because they don't conform to the norm.

I may not know that many alternative characters in the media, but I guess I was hoping to see something similar to what Hobie Brown is in Spide-man: Across The Spider-verse

That's something what I ws hoping for, honestly. Lots of piercings, jacket that full pins and spikes (bonus points if it was clear that it was diy-ed). Not to mentioned that you can tell that Hobie made his spidersuit out of the thing he most likely just hand in his reach, so he did it all by himself and he's obviously rocking it.

I just feel really disappointed with what we got and I honestly wonder if there was someone there who perhaps said to tone Hazard's design down so it doesn't stick out of the norm that much, to say it like that. Like come on, give us a character that's sticking out! There's literally nothing wrong with not fitting in and looking different!

I also wanna mentioned this redesign(?) of Hazard and I honestly would die for it if it was his actual design [link]

there was tension between you two up until having your first argument

the argument was about something silly, really, it could be fixed with just a bit more communication

but once you've made up, you take the chance of demonstrating your trust in him and your need to share your feelings by coming out to him, finally

“oh, you’re bi?,” his eyebrows raise. “is that why you’ve been acting weird? you wanted to tell me?” he smiles.

you confirm that’s why and tell him you didn’t want to hide that side of your life from him anymore. you felt better having opened up to him, but you didn't want him to think any differently of you.

“i understand. you're still, Y/N, to me..." he pauses. "um, what does being bi mean for you?” he asks, curious.

you explain what it means to you and explain that you still love him no matter your attraction to another gender.

“you love me, Y/N?” he smiles, wide. he looks like he’s won the lottery.

you say yes, begrudgingly. knowing he’ll tease you about it for the next week.

“i love you, too,” he takes his hand in yours. “thank you for telling me. i love everything about you, just so you know. your sexuality doesn't change who you are or how I feel about you. i'm proud of you for being honest with me, and for being true to yourself.”

a weight falls right off your shoulders and you finally feel like you can breathe.

going to pride fest with bad omens

with pride month coming around the corner, you get brave and ask your friends to come with you to pride fest in that city this weekend

of course, you say “if you don’t want to go, it’s totally okay” or “sorry, I’m just really excited.”

but noah assures you not to apologize. “yeah, that would be fun. we’d love to go with you. you’ll just have to show us the ropes,” you hear noah laugh over the phone.

june rolls around and you're at your place with your friends from bad omens getting ready to head out to the festival in the afternoon

folio brought his own kaleidoscope glasses and will choose to wear iridescent glitter on his shoulders and cheeks. he opts to apply it himself.

jolly decides he wants his hair in braids after hearing how hot it will be, so noah and you help him braid his hair into pigtails. he chooses from one of the pride tees you have in your closet. maybe "be gay, do crime"

nicky is super jealous of folio's glasses, but he distracts himself by letting you paint on his arms different pride flags. he makes a joke about him being the one being tattooed this time. his shirt says, "lesbians eat what?!"

noah really wants to go shirtless.

you don't allow him to, knowing he'll burn and regret it in the morning.

so he opts to wear a classic white tank. nicholas and you team up to give noah a glitter middle part in his hair.

the fest ends up being a blast and you feel so supported by your friends

they all follow around like ducks and ask you questions when they're curious

their favorite parts are the parade and the drag queen performances

you even had them stop at an atm before the fest to get some cash to tip the queens

Anyway, as someone with a soft spot for Steven (is it obvious yet?) this is a particularly steamy and surprisingly sweet fic about his first time. It’s written in such a brilliant way that you can just picture all of the desperate, delicious faces that Steven is making throughout and it’s just … it’s a 10/10 y’all.

MARC MY BEAUTIFUL, EMOTIONALLY GUARDED BELOVED I love when Marc gets to be soft and this was such a beautifully written, real-feeling story about his relationship insecurities and his desire to be treated like the precious gift he is. If the universe could just give me one chance to spoil this beautiful man … 

Personal Time ❤️‍🔥by @my-secret-shame-but-fanfiction — Look, we have already established my love for Steven Grant. I want to hug him and kiss him and let him tell me about Egyptian gods and eat vegan burritos with him and cuddle him all night. But this story? This story makes me also want to ruin him. 

The Moon Boys + Where They Like to Put It ❤️‍🔥by @ivystoryweaver — These little blurbs are pure filth and I would like them tattooed on my eyelids so that I can forever be haunted by them. There is a surprising amount of characterization packed into such a short package and that takes an incredible amount of talent. 

On My Knees ❤️‍🔥by @ivystoryweaver — Look. If Steven Grant came to me, begging on his knees (literally!) for his job back, I too would fold immediately. This two-parter is also great because the first story is pure fluff (and pining for Steven, which, i can relate) and the second brings all of the tension and anticipation to a head with some genuinely smoking hot smut. I’d also like to give a shoutout to Ivy’s Oblivious Roommate Headcanons Series, which is honestly making my obsession with everyone’s favorite gift shoppist a little worse in the best way. 

driver!jake and rich girl!reader ❤️‍🔥by @campingwiththecharmings — THIS FIC. I love the slow building tension, the gorgeous image of Jake smoking outside his limo during a night out, the SMUT. It made my brain melt in the best way, possible. 

Lessons in Touch by @marc-spectorr— Ugh, the PINING. There’s only one part to this so far and I am already so obsessed with it that I’m recommending it. I cannot wait to see where this one goes because I just am already so in love with this Steven and their relationship. 

With The Lights Out ❤️‍🔥by @moonknightly — Jake is, understandably, often characterized as the sexy, seductive one in the system so it’s such a treat to read a virgin!Jake fic. This one is so lovely, a perfect mix of vulnerable and steamy while still feeling so true to him. Basically, I love when Jake gets flustered and I need more of it. 

Friendly favors ❤️‍🔥by @runa-falls — (Not so) unrequited pining between Steven and his best friend and the ways they begin to reveal their feelings for one another by … “helping each other out” with their “needs.” Steamy and sweet in equal measure and it just makes me want to scream in the best possible way. 

Making Trouble ❤️‍🔥by @juneknight — Possessive!Marc owns me, completely. This and its sequel (where Jake gets his revenge) are two of the hottest, most wonderful smut fics that I have read in this fandom and good lord, it breaks my brain every single time I read it. juneknight is also the creator of the mind-meltingly sexy Dorm Room Marc series which is also *chef’s kiss* 

Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Verse) 

Halo ❤️‍🔥by @missdictatorme — One of the most interesting Miguel concepts I’ve ever read: Reader is Miguel’s new AI assistant (complete with hologram body) and you ask for the chance to design your own appearance. The slow build of the relationship between the pair is so fun to read and the tension between them as Miguel realizes that their relationship with one another is … unorthodox is amazing. I think about this story all the time. 

Something New ❤️‍🔥by @runa-falls — Hoooooo boy. I recommend you read this one in front of a fan or the AC because good lord this is hot. 

Decadent ❤️‍🔥by @ivystoryweaver — This one has it all: gorgeously steamy smut, the tension of a slow-burn relationship build, a hint of angst and a mystery at the center of it all: is Miguel a vampire? Or something else? Can he be cured? It’s so good and I honestly give a little squeal every time I see there’s a new chapter out. 

Punch-Out Love by @astroboots— Miguel O’Hara boxing AU? Hell yeah. This one is exciting and tense and thrilling and I was invested from the first sentence. Cici also co-wrote the iconic Every You, Every Me, which I am ashamed to say that I only just started reading but it is just as incredible as everyone said. Her stuff more than lives up to all of the hype.

It’s my favorite take on a softer version of Nathan and I just adore it. (Also for more amazing Oscar-character content, Fen’s Kinktober masterlist is *chef’s kiss)

Three Years (Nathan Bateman) ❤️‍🔥by @youvebeenlivingfictional — My favorite Nathan fic, ever. The tension between him and the reader, the underlying questions about whether their whole relationship and dynamic is the result of genuine feelings on his end or just him manipulating people, the added angst of Reader’s dynamic with their friend and *her* crush on Nathan — it’s just so good. 

Somebody to Love (Richard Alonzo Munoz) ❤️‍🔥by @writefightandflightclub — Not just one of my all-time favorite Oscar Isaac fics, but one of my all-time favorite fics period. As I have previously gushed, this is a gorgeous, romantic, slow-build of a story written with such stunning imagery and poetry and with little nods to an already-familiar relationship that just makes their ultimate relationship even more swoon-worthy and perfect. Thoughts: Fadel and Style continue to be the main attraction for me. I've seen stuff floating around about Fadel maybe being a virgin and honestly, if they did that it would go a long way towards soothing my worries about this show. Style's way of flirting is so weird but also perfect because Fadel really has no clue what to make of it. His immediate assumption - that Style wants something - doesn't add up with all the wacky shit Style keeps doing to get his attention. Like the Kant kind of seduction - all smooth and over the top interested and very handsy - I almost think Fadel could handle better Maybe not the handsy stuff. But then I don't think Kant would even get that far Fadel wouldn't even entertain him the way Bison is.

But Style...Style is so obnoxious and exasperating that even though Fadel is sure that there are ulterior motives he's too confused and reluctantly intrigued to put up a proper defense? Because the way Style is going about it is so absurd that it loops back around to having to be about actually liking Fadel, because no one in their right mind would flirt like this otherwise.

Little does he know that Style is both nuts and shameless, a dangerous combination. Also, I think he really thinks that Kant is 1000% down bad and he wants to help his friend out. That's sweet. He's gonna be so mad when he learns the truth my god.

Kant and Bison fired for me a little better in this ep, but are still kind of falling flat as a romantic pair. I said above and I will say again that if Kant should thank Style because I do think that Style's conviction that Kant is down bad (not saying he won't get there but I'm still not really getting that from him at all, lol) did a lot of work in convincing Bison that he might actually be genuine, if a bit full on. It helps that Bison clearly wants to buy in, whether because he wants to be in love or because he's bored or because he wants to keep playing, I don't know. There's also the option that he could actually like Kant a lot, lol. Mustn't forget that one.

I am a little surprised that I believe Bison's feelings a little more. It has come to my attention that someone is creating multiple accounts and posing as ITK while claiming that Erin and Jensen have hooked up or have a love story. It seems some bloggers and users actually adopted this person's narrative without digging deeper and asking for evidence. My reason for this post is I have received asks and dms from people actually falling for these rumors and the stories behind them make absolutely no sense and there is zero evidence. I have also received warnings from the people who have, thankfully, not fallen for them and had things to share about the person responsible. There is a huge difference between speculating about your fav celeb and full on gaslighting people with made-up stories.

The story seems to vary a bit from person to person as it gets passed down by the people who have been misinformed. The web is so spun some have adopted these claims as truth. Let's debunk a few of those versions. Please note that I don't know them by heart and so they aren't super precise but the claim behind them is the same:

You may have heard that Erin posted about Austin and then deleted the post. - An actress going to Austin could be about an infinite number of events, from art to auditions to modeling etc. There is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary there because Austin is bustling with entertainment industry opportunities.
