Haunted by the Past

Upon the conclusion of episode five of Peaceful Property, I just want the record to state that in regards to Home x Peach being a couple,

I now ship it HARDER.

I know what Home did to Peach was messed up pero like . . .

I'm into it.

I like GMMTV's non-BL BLs with Tay in them where one of the leads directly causes the other's death.

Something about these men's recklessness causing unintentional harm, yet somehow they get a second chance when the ghosts of the past make them confront the secret they tried to bury just really pleases me.

It brings a nice little "restorative rather than punitive justice" vibe to the narrative that sits well in stories about ghosts.

Because these men can't change the past.

But the ghosts are there to make sure they don't repeat it.

And the beauty of it all this is the ghost story doesn't actually begin until the one they 'killed' reappears and fate forces them to work together to rid themselves of all the other ghosts.

Because these men aren't really being haunted by the ghosts. The ghosts are there to help them along their journey to redemption. What they are being haunted by is their pasts and now they are tied to the one person who constantly reminds them of it. And the best part of all this is they are haunted by a living and breathing human who has no idea just how badly these men hurt them.

Unlike the ghosts who just need one final deed done to give them justice so they can move on, it's not that simple to atone for the wrongs done to these living and breathing humans. They already died once.

And then they came back.

But not for revenge or even for justice.

So maybe that's why I'm willing to mess with los espookys in these stories because it all seems so romantic that even though one was killed by the other, not even death could keep them apart and that the reason they came back from the dead was to keep the other from continuing down a horrible path. It's a story of healing, it's a story of forgiveness, and most importantly, it's a story of liberation.

And it's all because Death decided both of them were worth saving.

Anyways I know we settled that Pit Babe is the most unhinged BL today, but I can't close the book on talking about unhinged shows without talking about what is probably the most insane show of them all (at least in the ql-adjacent world)

like the first couple episodes is like "oooo spooky museum, cursed artifacts, bit of monster of the week but like with cursed items, is Dome Katha's reincarnated brother?" and then the last episode is "Katha has become the new Christian God. the moon has literally exploded and is going to end the world. Dome is actually one of the 4 horseman of the apocalypse and shot down from the sky to take over a normal guy named Dome's life. Dome isn't Katha's brother, that's Chan, another horseman of the apocalypse, who is from a different universe and also looks the same as Dome because all celestial creatures look like Dome because God made them all look like that across universes and God is Katha but not really. Dome and Chan were both from different universes (there's currently 3) but were all mixed around because Death (who also looks like Dome) killed his God and destroyed his universe so he's been hopping around trying to find a new God also he's possessed the body of Adam (like from the Bible) who had become a mannequin." and they made that jump in like 10 episodes

Truly one of the most unhinged pieces of television ever made I wish they made Katha and Dome kiss so I could include them in this bracket.

Since it's Good Friday, I just want to remind y'all that GMMTV made a show about Judas being in love with Jesus and betraying him because John iced him out of Jesus' inner circle because, although Jesus healed Jesus, he still needed a cane, so John thought Judas wasn't worthy of Jesus' love, but then Judas was cursed with immortality so he would have to live forever with the knowledge that Jesus died for the sin of Judas being in love with him.

BUT THEN JUDAS GETS A SECOND CHANCE during the second coming of Christ but it's not to save Jesus but to save humanity! Jesus returns, as promised, to cleanse the earth, but Judas decides to stop him because to be forgiven, he must finally confess his sin. He must look Jesus in his eye and admit his betrayal.

BUT THEN JUDAS GETS A THIRD CHANCE and he goes back in time to save Jesus in every timeline and in every way because by saving humanity, they saved themselves.

And GMMTV called it Midnight Museum.
