Hey! I just saw your post where you were looking for DbD questions to get you inspired, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm gonna focus on Pinhead because you know he's my fave. Here's a few:

I was excited to see you make the decision to move forward with Pinhead being the main love interest in Miracle. Can you elaborate more on your thoughts on why you made that choice and your feelings in general on it?

What are your thoughts on Pinhead in DbD in general? Unfortunately I think he gets little love in the fandom, maybe due to people not enjoying him in terms of gameplay and thus not seeking out further material (I don't play the game itself but that is what I've heard), but as someone specifically coming from the Hellraiser fandom I've always felt that people would enjoy him more if they took the time to explore his character outside of the game. He's honestly perhaps the biggest romantic of all the monsters in terms his canon lore, I felt like people would be surprised how well he naturally fits in fanfic romances. That combined with the fact that he's just, inherently, well...he's the high priest of a god of desire. Desire is his thing!

Do you have any other ideas for Pinhead/Reader fic on the back burner?

What about fic you might not want to write, but would enjoy reading from other authors?

Hi manderley! I'm so happy you stopped by. I've always wanted to talk about Pinny :D

So in Miracle M, I didn't really have a set love interest in mind for the reader. I was just gonna let viewers vote. But as I kept writing Pinhead, I think I just made myself fall in love with his character more and more. Especially in Miracle. He's the only character I've written who sacrifices everything, including love, to save the reader's soul and innocence. Umm... Super attractive??? It wasn't just his personality in Miracle but in all my stories with him. He's my second favorite killer and I can't help but to express it.

I did not know anything about Pinhead until he came to Dbd, and I immediately smelled potential and watched the Hellraiser movie. I don't mind playing against him. I'm just happy he's in the game. It opened up a whole world of opportunities for me, and I took full advantage.

I agree with you about Pinny being underrated. I think it's more of an appearance thing than anything else. His outfits expose open, torn flesh and his pins keep him in upright positions. Plus its difficult to imagine kissing him or being kissed by him (RIP to the folks who love oral fixations). I'm asexual so appearances don't affect me. I just love his characterizations!

He's part of my demon duo. So him and Pyramid Head are my desire reading, reward boys. Like you said, Pinhead is a huge romantic. HUGE. And his love interests is exactly what my readers are- innocent, strong and traumatized. He's the perfect emotional supporter. I jumped in joy when I saw the movie. He's just *mwah" SO PERFECT.

It's sooooooooo fun to write him rivaling Herman. You've seen that, lol! If I can ever finish it, I think you'll love his interactions with the reader in Saddest Journey.

As for future fic ideas, I don't have much planned because my plate is already super full. But, I did come up with a superpower for Pinhead, but it's kind of... Shocking. I'm embarrassed to explain it though, but it will be written out in Knights or Saddest Journey eventually.

I never really think about reading other fics in the slasher fandom because I'm so used to not being able to find what I want which is the opposite of what the entire slasher community stands for. If I want something, I'm used to only relying on myself to provide it, (kinda lonely). That's why I started writing Pinhead so much. I wanted more of him and provided more of him!

So my two fave scenes/ moments were the 'keep of the lake house for now' and 'I've been in love with him since' so any commentary will be amazing. Any extra stuff will be amazing so 🪻please 😊

Gonna put these 3 under a cut because length

“So hold onto that lake house for a while longer,” he says. “Okay?”

Context: i wrote the majority of the first draft of ELYN for Nanowrimo in 2022 (basically a challenge where you write a 50k novel in the month of November) and then I rewrote and edited it over a bunch of months.

So this chapter was actually very similar to the original draft, except that in Draft 1 all of the vote fallout was in one chapter which had the Simon scene first then the Nils scene. In the editing/developing process all the non-Wilhelm characters grew a lot so I knew I wanted to expand Nil's role, and add some more Felice which meant I could bump Simon into his own chapter.

(there was absolutely not meant to be a giant posting gap between the Nils scene and the Simon scene. To be completely honest if I'd known I was going to need that long to finish the fic off I'd probably have chosen to put the gap immediately after the debate because... tension 😈)

The main places where the Simon scene got extended was in the details - Simon's life and career was not well thought through in draft 1 and a lot of the extra length across the whole fic came from building that up - but the lakehouse beat was always there because it was important that Simon's rehab process had to be something he did independent of Wilhelm, so this idea of Wilhelm offering up this house and Simon rejecting it, then clarifying that it's a 'not yet' but hopefully one day when he's in a better place.

Wilhelm's 'I keep thinking about the last time you went to L.A.' was not in the original and was one of those character beats that didn't come to me until months later, but that really pulled together Wilhelm's feelings at that moment and his reluctance to let Simon leave, and that then led really nicely back into Simon saying hang on to the house, because hopefully its not goodbye this time.

“Keira asked what was different about you,” Simon says. “I said: I fell in love with Wilhelm when I was sixteen, and I have been in love with him every day since.”

Okay so this part was possibly the slowest part of the fic to write mostly because I was still figuring out how to articulate this ending which was meant to be optimistic but not magic-wand-everything's-fixed-now. This line in particular came about because I was trying to find where Simon was sitting emotionally and ended up writing a very short therapy in L.A. scene in which Simon dropped this line and I was immediately like 'well, that has to get into the main story.'

It's a nice parallel to Wilhelm's 'I'm never going to stop being in love with him.' in chapter 8, and it highlights that the issues between them have never been a lack of love or not wanting to be together, it's always been these outside forces that they need to break away from.

Also its one of those lines that you write down and then you read it and you're like 'people are gonna quote this one back at me' and its nice when you get that right 😅

And on that theme, your 🪻 is:

“Do you want to tell me what you’re thinking about?” This is the worst part of therapy. “Wilhelm.” Keira’s eyebrows twitch slightly, which is the only reaction he ever gets and means he’s surprised her. “We haven’t spoken much about Wilhelm, not since you asked if you could text him. Are you ready to tell me more about what happened between you?” “You could check the tabloids.” Her ‘you know that’s not what I meant’ look reminds him of Candace, except that she hasn’t figured out how to also convey ‘and I’m disappointed and you’re exhausting and you’d be nothing without me.’ “I’d like to hear it in your own words.” Simon absolutely can’t look at her. “I fell in love with Wilhelm when I was sixteen,” he says. “And I’ve been in love with him every day since. He’s the one I think about every time I sing a love song. Still. I have slept with - I don’t know, hundreds? - of people since I left Sweden and none of it meant anything, compared to him.” “What was it like, seeing him again?” He’d been drinking steadily in the car on the way to the benefit concert so that he’d be able to smile and read a teleprompter and not just stand there staring but it was a close thing. After his performance they’d swept him into a room where he drank champagne and smiled for the cameras. Wilhelm had touched a fingertip to his bare shoulder and Simon had wanted him so badly it hurt in places he’d thought could no longer feel anything. He doesn’t have words for that, except that it was like being in love. “He showed me I could do this,” Simon says instead. “That I could get out. That these systems we were caught up in weren’t infallible.” She frowns very slightly. “Do you think he spoke out against the monarchy for you?” Maybe? He offered once. On a cold night in his ridiculous scarf in so many words that it was Ayub who figured out what he was getting at after he’d walked away. But, no. “He did it for him. Because he needed it. And I did this for me. But there couldn’t be an ‘us’ before. Because of all those things getting in the way. And now… and maybe we both did it a bit for that. For love. Or whatever.”

This round, we're back to our traditional format! We asked the bookclub to once again dive into our lengthy previous nominations list, and pick some faves.

With two rounds of voting, we came to the delightful choice of reading we were wrecks before we crashed into each other by uneventfulhouses.

This is a fic that was written as a lost episode of Weird and/or Wonderful World and it feels very true to the the premise of the show and it gives us a wonderful look at our usual suspects, pining for each other, quietly and beautifully to the tune of an excellent album, until it comes to a head in the most romantic of places, a Target parking lot. The author weaves a tale of music, and yearning together to give the entire book club a case of the feels.

Book Club Thoughts

I really love setting a shyan fic around music, something Shane is so passionate about. It really fits them so well

This fic always makes me think about how this is what song fic is supposed to be - not just lyrics interspersed in the text but like, the song becomes the contextualizing thing for the plot

there's also something very fun about this fic. like all of the adventures they go on, I would like to go on also!

I could really see the balance and anxietes of what friends to lovers really means - and that they don't want to lose each other because you showed that there's really a lot to lose

i just really think this fic is special, man. excellent characterization of them, excellent scenario, tugs on the heartstrings, one of the most emotional sex scenes i've EVER read

This was very much one of those "I need to lie down and rethink my life now" fics upon my first read and now I gotta go and do it again

this fic really had it all!! the pining, the frustrated thinking that keeps you from moving forward, Ryan driving six hours just to talk to a near stranger about his best friend confessing his love. all the almost kisses. everyone around them was probably so confused.

I took all of your polls so far and I have to say, so far I’m quite surprised. I would have thought Gojo would have been ranked higher since he’s so popular but then I remembered he’s an absolute menace. 💀 (Keep in mind I have yet to actually watch jjk).

Also why is Kazutora ranked so low?! In so many fanfics, he’s been described as someone who aims to please and do anything to satisfy you. Maybe it’s because he’s one of my faves (and a total hottie) but I was surprised so few people voted for him. Granted, there’s no beating Mitsuya. That man is perfection. 👌🏼

One more thing, I would have voted for Ran but KOKO. 😩 The way you wrote him in “Dominion” and “One for the Money” completely swayed my opinion. That man loves money but he without a doubt loves pleasing you more. Every one of his scenes are 🔥🔥🔥

For a while, the only thing that went into my long term memory was the fact that "oh, Cyno's a bottom"

Ansy, I can't believe you pulled that stunt after we talked about hurting him. You actually made me feel guilty thinking he was donezo already (bitterly, i at least thought he'd have been strong enough to parry that) but then he's actually still alive. I felt betrayed and went back to thinking that cazzo, I already grieved for you, you can actually go die now wth.

My head hurts, amazing work as always, I can finally sleep. Happily too since my answer got in, who'd think my 'finish your research then finish you' line would get in despite the blatant joke to it.

MAJOR CHAPTER 3 SPOILERS!!!:

I actually wrote that because the first time I checked the polls Alhaitham was going to die. He's not my fave out of everyone (duh cuz dimitri and dain are there–) but out of the three of us friends, I was the only one grieving for him lmao.

My friends were all rooting for him to die (@a-dose-of-phitre literally made a funeral for him in her teapot lmao) while I'm like "man. My poor poor dog died this early. My poor boy. I will mourn you, thank you for all your service my liege." and wrote that segment.

THEN I WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING AND HE'S ALIVE???
