Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, HijiTae fandom!

This side blog has been in operation since September 2020 and has managed to have new content each year, even if it's just one post. Such is the life of rare pair shippers! I'm looking forward to any possible interactions between Hijikata and Tae in the Ginpachi-sensei series.

Another HUGE thank-you to the talented @okaerin for this beautiful artwork I commissioned from her!! It was great working with her again, and I encourage everyone to check out her blog for more of her lovely artwork!

Presenting Hijikata and Tae on a summer date...in a 1950s-inspired AU! 

Tae’s fashion takes cue from Audrey Hepburn for a cute, casual, and classic style! Her outfit pays homage to Audrey’s gown in Sabrina (1954) through the cherry blossom print on a summer dress reminiscent of the trends of that decade.  Every time it comes to Tae in more modern fashions, I always find myself returning to Audrey’s iconic style and fashion sense, which I think suits Tae wonderfully.

Hijikata’s fashion is inspired by two famous leading men during the golden age of cinema in the 50s (and beyond): Toshiro Mifune and Marlon Brando, from a photoshoot and A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), respectively. I think the classic T-shirt and trousers look suits Hijikata best for a casual and romantic outing.

I wish HijiTae was the popular alternative to GinTae instead of KonTae. I thought Otae seemed to be more interested in Hijikata than Kondo if Gintoki didn't exist, plus young Otose and her two suitors look like past lives versions of Otae, Gintoki, and Hijikata.

Hijitae is so cute af 😩, i wish it was too... They had great potential! Their relationship is so cool, i see her interest in him too 👀.

For me it's a parallel, it can't be a coincidence! In my opinion Hijikata is a parallel to Jirocho, not just by personality but because they were deliquents when they were youger and i still have a hc of Hijikata feeling a platonic love for Tae idc.

But i think there's 2 reasons of why Hijitae isn't that popular:

1 Because of Hijimitsu, i mean a lot of ppl don't see Hijikata with someone besides her, especially because it's canon, so it's kinda hard to dissacociate this couple, meanwhile, it gives Hijitae more reasons to ship it, since both Tae and Mitsuba are gentle, traditional, smiling and caring older sisters, so we can say that Hijikata has a type? 😆

2 Tae hate, y'know a lot of people hate her, and Hijikata is a fan favorite of many, so ppl refuse themselves to ship these two, since "Hijikata is cool and amazing, he doesn't deserve that b!tch!", and maybe some folks would find some kind of betrayal, since Kondou loves her to death and then she decides to stay with his best friend (this is stupid, but never doubt of anything).

Who knows in an parallel universe, hijitae is the alternative of gintae (in my dreams be sure that is!).
