it's wednesday in no sense of the word but honestly the past two weeks have been wack as fuck and my concept of time is shot to all hell. thanks for the tag @scribespirare!

i've been working on a select few tomarry fics still, every once in a while, and this is one of them. to the anon that said my vibe is 'incest tomarry'; you get a gold sticker for prophecy

“Look at you,” Tom murmured, impressed. “Tell you what, let’s get out of here. Aside from your stunt this morning, I’d say your behaviour has been more than reasonable today. How about a treat? I need to do groceries anyway, we’ll stop on the way.”

Harry stared at him, an expression of disgust on his face. “Am I ten?”

“Closer to ten than my age,” Tom said, rolling his eyes and grabbing his coat from the coatstand in the corner. “Now or never, Harry. What do kids like, anyway? Nando’s?”

“I’m going to throw up,” Harry deadpanned. “I’m puking right now. Take me to McDonald’s like a normal person.”

When they eventually got to the promised McDonald's and made their way inside to the counter, Harry surprised him by pulling a bus ticket out of his jacket pocket.

"Dailies are only valid for one day, you know," Tom drawled, about to add that they don't count as cheques, either, when Harry cut him off.

"No, you git," his nephew hissed at him. "There's a voucher on the back. It's good for ten weeks and I'm not about to waste it."

Tom's raised his eyebrows, but to the boy's credit, there actually was a voucher on the back. One ninety-nine for a Big Mac and fries, instead of whatever the usual price was. Three quid something. All spare change to Tom, honestly, but he couldn't help enjoying his nephew's oddly generous mood, so Tom let Harry do as he pleased.

"You don't want anything?" Harry asked him once they were sitting at one of the rickety plastic tables, Tom's nephew having just scarfed down about ten fries in one swallow.

"No," Tom answered, crossing his arms a polite distance away from the probably rancid tabletop. "I'm selective about what I put in my body."

Harry snorted inelegantly, grabbing another handful of far too salty fries. "You're a snob," he said, and crammed the fries in his mouth.

"You're disgusting," Tom retorted, relaxing. It felt easy, this. A routine, almost, some habit to fall back into. "I've got food at home."

"Oh yeah?" Harry started to goad, but Tom reached over the table to stop him with a grimace, clamping his hand over his nephew's mouth.

"Swallow before you speak," Tom said, disgusted.

"Tha's wha' she said," Harry said, muffled, and despite his mouth being covered, Tom could tell he had a shit-eating grin on his face.

Hi everyone, and welcome to DAFicRecs! Right now it's just me, Sin, running the show, but over time I hope more people will join this project and help me share the love and joy of DA fanfic. 😁💙

My goal is to support fanfic authors in our community by sharing the works I love (and what I love most about them) with the Dragon Age fandom. I have almost two decades of professional experience reviewing books (fiction and non-fiction), and I'd like to use those skills to support our community.

If you would like me to read your fanfic, please send me an ask (with a link to your work and a short description) and I will add your work to my reading queue. While I do sometimes write "spot recs/reviews" of work I really love, I would prefer that this be a collaborative project with the community and that authors submit their work to me themselves.

When you submit your fic, please be sure to include the following:

A link to your work & the pseud/handle you publish under (regardless of platform)

The title of your work

Any tags I should be aware of

A brief summary

Any social media you would like to be tagged in the rec/review when we publish it (please include a link to your profile)

If you have commissioned artwork for your fic, please feel free to let us know! We would be happy to post it with the rec/review of your work (with the artist's permission)

What kind of work can you submit?

Anything and everything. Long fics in progress, short NSFW fics, dark fics, angst fics, fluffy fics. Everything is welcome. If there is something in the tags I really can't handle, I will be in contact with you and let you know. In the rare cases where that does happen, please know it is not a reflection on your work—all it means is that I'll need to hold it until I find a reviewer who is comfortable reading those themes.

To be absolutely clear: this blog is firmly profiction and therefore supports and celebrates creative/artistic freedom in fiction.

You can submit your fic to me through the DAFicRecs asks here. Please note that I won't respond to your ask (unless I need further information) and I will just add it to my queue and will get to reviewing it as soon as I can. Please don't worry when you don't get a response to your ask! Once I have created an AO3 collection for my fic reading queue I will update this post with a link. My cat suddenly got very sick last night. He’s in urgent care right now. I’m so worried. I love him so much and we’ve had so many good years together, but he’s 18 years old now and he’s slowing down. Every time he takes a downturn I wonder if it’s his time. I raised him since he was just a few months old. He’s been through my side through everything, and he’s one of the few things that makes my life feel worth living. I love him more than I can express in words. It’s so hard to watch him grow old. All I hope is that he knows how loved he is.

With over 20 members currently on the QSMP and more on the way, it's almost impossible for a single person to stay up to date on everything that happens, even with help from QSMP's official Twitter recap accounts.

For people who are interested in QSMP's story, characters, and/or streamers but don't have time to watch hundreds of hours worth of VODs, I've created the QSMP VOD Timestamp Archive.

If there's a particular lore moment you missed live and can't find, search for it in the archive!

Timestamps include quotes, notable lore events, and funny interactions. Interesting or important moments from each stream are bolded for emphasis. I'm also adding short summaries for lore-heavy / eventful stream.

I've organized the document so it should be easy to navigate, and you can CTRL + F to search for specific streamers and/or events.

Complete VOD playlists, recaps, and additional resources are also included in the document for people who might be feeling overwhelmed by the amount of QSMP content out there. It's never too late to get into the series!

Yes. For starters, I want to reiterate that anyone reading this post NEEDS TO BLOCK HIM. He is an online predator and emotional manipulator.

Me and 2 of my close tumblr friends would draw with him constantly on magma.io (all of 2022). He had strange tendencies of guilting us into drawing late into the night and emotionally breaking our characters. February of last year both of my friends came out and told me that he had been talking and drawing with them more privately. He had asked and guilted them into drawing pornography and extremely violent artworks of his and their characters. Both were underage.

I can tell you that what he has "admitted" in his most recent post is not even close to what he actually did.

Gamethesoldier, as a 22+ year old man, targeted MULTIPLE minors online, heavily MANIPULATED them, started long and serious relationships with them, and MANY more disgusting acts with pornography and gore. I went to the police last year, but was unable to get him arrested as he and his victims were in different countries and I myself was not one of his victims.

What he has done is unacceptable, despicable, and criminally illegal. One of my friends was heavily impacted by his actions and is still clearly shaken by what happened. They are at no fault for any of what he did.

For respect to my friends, I kept this quiet, deleting all of my art with him. But recently I saw he was with another magma.io group and... I could NOT let that stand. He does not deserve pity or empathy. He is a criminal and one who has manipulated minors to a horrifying degree.

I apologize for the extreme degree of this post. But I wanted to make it clear, he is not a good person.

another Ravenwood RP thing based on this concept I briefly touched on before. Antony ends up dead (again) as a result of this whole ordeal, as Melvin's undead form attacked him (it's kind of a long story but yeah. an undead/possessed Mel is the one they're fighting in all of this fdjkgdfg - he does get reverted back to normal eventually, don't worry).

kinda pushed myself out of my comfort zone a bit with this one, considering that like, "Mel" ended up going for Antony's throat and the idea is pretty gory in nature. but I'm quite squeamish so I couldn't really bring myself to draw much detail. still a super messed-up concept tho. ugh my poor boy;;;

this RP is always just really intense tbh, but I've been trying to get over my fear of sharing some of the more angsty or painful arts regarding the stories me and my friends come up with. these kinds of arts are usually the ones I put a lot of emotion into, so hopefully that comes through the most... even if I don't do a great job explaining things sometimes ><;;

given what hoshina said about his previous division treating him like a burden/parasite just because he can’t handle firearms and specializes in his swords… how tiring must it have been to have to work with those people each mission despite having a common goal?

and how tiring must it have been to be constantly told off by his own father for wanting to continue his family’s tradition, or to be told to give up on being part of the jakdf by his own teacher -

before mina, a high ranking commander personally reached out to him, to recruit him into her team?

the fact that she didn’t see him during joint trainings and think: why bother with that? why bother with blades when bigger kaiju will appear? when she personally deals with bigger kaiju herself.

but she instead saw him and thought: he can help me, he can cover my weaknesses (mina not being able to handle a vegetable peeler is hilarious) and he’s someone i can trust

she sees potential in him, she sees how he can excel within her division, she saw hoshina and as captain - has probably heard everyone talk shit about him but she was still certain that he’d be one of her division’s greatest asset

(and even when platoon leader ebina refused to let hoshina help out, mina stood firm on her decision and her claim that hoshina would be useful. when she asked him if he could take down the big kaiju, and he could only promise saving the child within it - she believed him, took his word for it and waited until he carried out his promise.)

and now hoshina is the vice captain, putting faith in a new recruit whom most people wouldn’t have believed in… full fucking cycle..

tldr: it makes me rly fucking emotional to think about how hoshina was given a reason to continue improving with his swords after being told to give up all this time… and how mina had never once thought his abilities were useless 👍

also makes me crazy how protective he is of his position as vice captain, as the person who stands by captain ashiro’s side…

Purple has been feeling… off, for a long time.

Not like a headache off, though at the beginning it did feel that way, but an off that seeps into one's very core. An off that feels like something is squirming just below the surface. A writhing, slow, crawl too deep to scratch out.

Purple has been feeling this way for a long time.

They don't remember when it started. 

Was it when the pain behind their eyes doubled, tripled, in intensity before fading into a dull but persistent throb? Was it when their nails grew and sharpened into razor? Not claws. Never claws. Purple was a stick figure and stick figures had rounded hands and nails. Was it when their back tensed one day and never relaxed? They were never one to workout but they could swear layers of muscle were forming underneath their elytra straps. 

Was it when Purple no longer had to look up to talk to King MT? They were not yet as tall as the former king, their eyes level to his mouth, but height never mattered when the other was already cowering at their feet.

Or maybe it was when, after months of peace and established normalcy, one voice in a sea of thousands whispered so sweetly into the empty air of the void;

At the end of the day, it does not matter.

Purple does not know when it started.

But they do know it will not end well. 

Not for them. Never for them.

So here Purple stands, at the edge of an incomplete bridge. The Endermen had not yet finished connecting one tower to the other, the yellow end stone several feet below them. It didn't matter. Purple wanted to come out here to check on the progress. 

Something, anything, to feel normal.

Their stomach felt twisted, a pain worse than their inability to keep down regular food. Their muscles burned, it twitched underneath skin in unnatural ways. Their entire head ached, from their jaws to their teeth to their eyes to everything inside their skull. The dull throb now a war drum in their ears.

So here Purple stands, the spitting image of misery. 

And here Purple falls, their mind so distracted by pain that they don't notice when they start to tip.

And here Purple lands, a sickening cRACK on the cold stone below. 

Before the shock can even register, like a chain reaction, their body twists and convulses.

Skin rips, muscles tear, bones snap. The scream that bubbles to their lips does get to form before their jaw is cracked and broken.

It's agony. They're on fire. They're dying.

They're getting bigger. Dimly through their pain blurred mind, there's a horrible realization they're changing.

And it's agony.

Their muscles are reconnecting, their skin is sewing back together, their bones are reforming.

Purple does not know when it will end. They hope it's soon.

They hope they're dead by the end. But they know they won't be.

How cruel.

A confused growl erupts from their throat. Eyes wide, they stare down at their hand.

Not a hand. A claw.

A claw with sharpened black talons and familiar purple scales. 

They whip around, their head heavy with a muzzle. Their back heavy with wings. Their hips heavy with a tail.

A shock of purple in the spit and blood and black oil puddle draws their attention.

With their head bowed low, Purple stares at the reflection in the shiny liquid.

Their reflection.

And they roar, high pitched, scared, and mourning.

anybody else who struggles with eating but doesn’t necessarily have an ED ever feel super guilty and left out when you have to skip over meals that you know you like because of the size of it? like there’s this food i really love and it tastes amazing, but i can never have any because i know i wouldn’t finish it with the serving size or i’d freak out over it and be grossed out, and i feel bad asking for bites from other people’s plates, so i just don’t show up or participate in anything they do because i don’t want to ruin the vibe, and this ends up like. making you super apathetic/angry about any sort of food you can eat, you keep saying “i don’t care” whether you eat or not because you don’t want to get your hopes up anymore. i know i’m not alone in this but i just wanna know anyone else’s experience

Hi! any idea of how to deal with learning your source and/or source creator is a bad person?

its a sad thing weve had to go through a couple of times, but still arent quite sure what were supposed to do. its specifically something we take fairly hard as well, because the creator is often apart of a large comfort or hyperfixation or special interest. anyway, i was just wondering if you had any tips at all.

Hello. While we personally have not had much firsthand experience with having an alter whose source turned out to be a bad person, we do have some advice that might be beneficial for you during this difficult time.

First: it’s alright to mourn or grieve the loss of someone you and your system once looked up to. It’s alright to feel hurt or betrayed when someone you thought was a kindhearted person turns out to not have others’ best interests at heart. There are no wrong feelings. It’s alright to be sad or even distraught about this. We’d encourage you to feel your emotions and attempt to connect with them, sit with them, and ultimately, let them go. Letting go of emotions without allowing yourself to feel them can be difficult and challenging - it’s probably best to spend some time sitting with your negative emotions before attempting to dismiss them.

Second: It may be reassuring to remember that, as introjects, we are not literally our sources. Just because our sources made bad decisions or chose to take advantage of someone else does not mean we are doomed to repeat those mistakes. We are capable of learning from our sources, it’s true, and even acknowledging their mistakes as examples of how we can lead our lives a bit differently. And we can do this without repeating the actions of our sources or convincing ourselves that, because our source is/was harmful, we are harmful as well.

Third: If knowing your source is harmful/committed violence or bigotry greatly distresses you, and if you are struggling to distance yourself from your source and/or feel like YOU are responsible for your source’s actions, some degree of source separation may be necessary. I (Cecil) have written my thoughts on source separation in the past, and I will link this post here so you can learn more about our experience with source separation if you think it might be useful.

Please keep in mind that you do not have to completely and totally separate from your source in order to view them in a healthy, more distanced way. You can still identify as or strongly with your source while simultaneously acknowledging that you are your own person and are not responsible for the actions, thoughts, and decisions of your source.

Fourth: In general, not just with introjects, we do believe it is possible to separate a creator’s work from the creator themself. If we find out that an artist we admired was taking advantage of someone else or otherwise caused irreparable harm to others, we will stop engaging with their content in ways that benefit the artist, but that doesn’t mean we have to give up enjoying that artist’s work entirely. We may become more critical of their work. We may try to explore other creators who aren’t as… problematic. And we will certainly stop supporting that artist, be it through purchases, subscriptions, or views. But that doesn’t mean we have to cut their works out of our lives forever. So we firmly believe it is possible to continue enjoying or engaging with your system’s hyperfixations and special interests. You may just need to find ways to do so that do not support or benefit the harmful creator in question.

new anon hi, i feel like the disconnect between 'this is a crime romance there's going to be copaganda in it' and the critisms comes directly from the source with what shes writing like you said. I would be willing to suspend my disbelief that all cops and the agency were good and not corrupt for the sake of the story if the story showed us that instead of having the cops shoot people for no reason and be basically useless and the agency literally having a punishment system based around constant possibly eternal punishment. Like I know the agency is actively working against the cops to keep the supernatural stuff a secret but they always feel so... useless? Like we aren't shown them solving anything outside of Mc working with ub and the complete culture of secrecy around the agency makes it basically impossible for me to trust them.

you can see a similar pattern with how the story treats the ageny and rebecca tbh, we're just supposed to accept that these authority figures have whats best for us at heart and forgive when they keep important information secret even when it gets people killed and any attempt at distrusting them is punished by the narrative and characters around us. i don't even think mishka is aware shes doing it honestly but it really says a lot about her worldview lmao

like you said, this is absolutely indicative of her worldview – the things she's written are definitely fucked but as fans we would be more comfortable (if you can even call it that) with it if there were any kind of criticisms happening in text – or pushback from the mc that had any kind of weight on the plot. but... instead here we are :-)
