i'm so excited that you're going to play night in the woods aaahh that game changed me i love it so so much,, i've started nier automata a while back but i had to let it sit in my library since i'm not yet ready for the emotional toll it'll bring me lol,, i’ll play it for sure this term break now that you’ve recommended it 🙌 also if u don’t mind me recommending, VA-11 Hall-A is a neat visual novel with bartender gameplay, great music, and gay people in it! i hope you’re having a great day/night!!

i've played persona5 but i haven't played royal! I heard people either love it more than persona5 or hate it LOL but im so excited to be playing night in the woods i love the dreamy art it's so atmospheric. i'm only like 3 hours into it but i love it so far!!!

Devs of VA-11 Hall-A have finally announced their new game

.45 PARABELLUM BLOODHOUND has been teased quite a few times (under the code name Project D) but has now been officially announced. It is an 'Active Time Action' game where the combat is heavily inspired by Parasite Eve

"The pitch: You play as Reila Mikazuchi; a washed out mercenary whose glory days are long gone. In a last attempt at grabbing life by the horns she decides to go back to the life, only to realize the real enemy isn’t in front of her gun."

"We’re currently aiming for seven chapters; five of which are currently playable from start to finish. Most of the features are already locked in, as well as the story."

Release date TBA

The demo will be playable at BitSummit Drift in Kyoto, Japan. But stay tuned as they will release a trailer on July 19th

If you like mildly spooky but very atmospheric games with enjoyable gameplay loops and some light but satisfying puzzles I would recommend Dredge for sure, it's one of my favorite games I played this year, and ran great on the Switch! Imo it really did what it set out to do and was a great length yet full of content and secrets to discover, I haven't tried the recent DLC yet but that looks exciting too.

I guess while I'm on the subject of recommending sail around and do things games I'd be remiss to not mention Sunless Sea (and Sunless Skies if you want space rather than the Unterzee) too, they are much spookier and way more mysterious and lethal than Dredge lol, but if you've enjoyed the Fallen London setting and haven't played them yet they're worth a go I think! They can be unforgiving at first until you get the hang of things, but the classic Failbetter atmosphere and writing are off the charts, and there is a special kind of thrilling tension to being way deeper in the fog of the zee than you meant to be and doing everything you can and praying you can get back to a port before your hubris or whatever accident befell you dooms yet another captain to the depths, with nothing but unsettling splashes of something just out of view of your fog light and the groans and creaks of what you have to hope is only just your ship to harry you along.

So I'm making this game called Whispers of the Luminaries. It's an idol-themed murder mystery visual novel that blends investigative gameplay (inspired by Danganronpa) with social sim gameplay.

Play as a detective

Follow 4 idol trainees trying to make their dreams come true

Make friends or choose to work on the case in your free time

Piece together clues to unravel a dark, yet heartfelt story

Gameplay

I wanted to make a detective game where you can choose to hang out at different places, meet new characters and make new friends ^^ (Kinda like Persona, Coffee Talk, and VA-11 Hall-A)!

Free Time Events

There'll be 'free time events' and a 'world map system' where you choose where you want to hang out:

Trust Meter

During free time events, you get to meet different characters and deepen your relationship with them - learning more about their backstory.

There'll also be a 'trust meter' for each character.

Unravel the Mystery

Instead of visiting places like the bar, park or gym, you can also choose to visit your detective's office. Here, you'll be able to unravel the mystery by choosing which leads you want to investigate further:

Investigating leads is crucial to solving the case, but spending too much time here can lower your sanity, so be careful.

Once enough evidence is collected, there'll also be a deduction phase similar to Danganronpa/Ace Attorney, where you must select evidence to support or contradict a statement!
